After a very fun filled night of living up downtown Indy, I knew what I wanted. White Castle!!!! Coming from LA, my go to spot out there is Tommy's and we don't have any White Castles. Long story short, I should have gone with the friends' suggestion of Steak N' Shake instead, White Castle was a huge disappointment, couldn't even find the meat in my burger. I guess if you grew up on this, its okay, but even in a state where I knew anything would taste good, this didn't do the trick.

I grew up on White Castles and can attest to their addictive nature. The soft steamed bun, the little square hamburger with the holes punched in it, covered with cooked onion bits. Heaven in a white cardboard box! How devoted are White Castle lovers? When I lived in Las Vegas years ago, one of the casinos had a weekly White Castle night, serving sandwiches flown in from Chicago. Hundreds of locals went to the casino each week to gobble down the beloved sliders! White Castle also serves fish nibblers - breaded fish nuggets - which are fairly tasty. Alas, they only serve them during Lent in Indianapolis. In Ohio, however, they're available year round. Heck, they're available year round in Richmond, IN. Weird. Maybe we should send White Castle a petition!

Gotta get my annual sliders fix. This location has it all at 2 am. Conventioneers, homeless, greyhound bus families, hookers, and Amish! And, great guys behind the counter.

As good as it looked like in the movies! Stopped by around lunch time and I almost wanted to re-order more. Nothing compared to the microwave ones. Glad i was able to enjoy these.

Thank you for being my reprieve from my very very drunk sister during her bachelorette party! Drunk people annoy me, I get even more annoyed if I am refused alcohol, but mostly annoyed when I am hungry. So when My soon to be wed sister yells, I need my Id(to go to the slippery noodle) and follows that with I can't even see you right now... Food is a better choice than alcohol.

I came to Indianapolis for a Star Wars convention, and happened to pass by this White Castle on my way to the hotel. I've always wanted to try their food because of Harold and Kumar. I've had the frozen White Castle burgers they sell at the market and those suck. After I got my fill of Star Wars, we took a walk to White Castle. I must say that I was a bit disappointed. The burgers I ate weren't much better than the frozen blocks I've had before. Still, it was an experience to behold. I guess if you grew up on this stuff you would crave it, much like I crave a Tommy's hamburger. What's funny is that the only other customers in the restaurant were some fellow Star Wars fans from San Francisco that I knew, and some bums. I wasn't sure where this WC was, so I asked the Concierge at our hotel: Me: "Where's White Caslte near here, we want to try it!?" Him: "Where are you from?" Me: "L.A... Los Angeles" Him: "You have In-N-Out, you don't want to go to White Castle" I have picture of my wife and myself at this White Castle in my profile pics. See! It was a memorable experience.

This was my very first experience at White Castle and it remains as my only experience. Perhaps it was because I got caught into the hype of everything that WC was. I was grossly disappointed when the sliders I got were so poorly constructed that I had to remake the sliders right there on my own. It reminded me of those plastic toy burgers that dogs use as chew toys. But, I'd probably rather eat the chew toy instead of sliders. And I almost got mugged on my way out.

Its a White Castle! Ya love them or hate them. But, on occasion, I like to have a few sliders. Or one of their yummy breakfast sandwiches. The quality is good here. Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT go to the one on Illinois & 16th! Stick with this store. The one on Illinois is full of employees who don't give a S#$T about you or your food. Go here...you'll be happy with the experience. I recommend it.

There isnt much open downtown at 3am with a drive-thru, so we hit up this White Caste. We ordered just sides - onion rings, french fries, maybe jalepeno poppers - only to get to the window and get a drink - which we did not order and like 5 cheeseburgers...which was fine with me since i was paying and that wrong order was cheaper than our original order and my drunk friends didnt notice. But the employeee at the window was really friendly. Extra star for a smiling 3am White Castle employee!

it's better than a hostel, you can meet people from all over the world riding on the bus & the Late Nighters, the staff is friendly & fast

I try not to write reviews of individual fast food joints, since they're all pretty much the same. I'm only mentioning this one because it was the first time I ever had White Castle! October 2009. I was instantly hooked.

The ladies here are awesome, always cheery and they work together well as a team. I am impressed that they remember my breakfast order (are chicken rings for breakfast weird?) and they make sure I am out the door quickly. The BEST White Castle in Indy.

This White Castle location is convenient for so many reasons for so many folks. Whether your grabbing a few burgers after a late night of drinking, a quick and inexpensive meal, or just need a snack it meets the needs of the many. The drive up is usually fast unless you sit behind an intoxicated group or those encountering decision issues. If ordering a crave case, I try to go inside the store if the option is available. Its easy to get in and out of this location and located just a few blocks from the interstate ramp. The service at the drive thru has always been decent. If your not a burger fan opt for the fish sandwiches, shrimp bites, or chicken tenders. The chocolate shakes are a favorite for my family especially when their not feeling well. My out of state family expects I drive directly to the closest WC the very second the luggage is in the car. They then proceed to order a bag and devour before we reach home. Anyone who now lives without White Castle always request we stop often during their visit. I do miss White Castle shipping these tiny little burgers to out of state friends and family. I don't image they'll ever return shipping after 9-11 but it would be greatly appreciated by many I know.

Growing up, my step father used to rant and rave about his 'sliders' as a kid. He talks about his bliss in having had a fix when he visits 'back east'. When I saw there was one near my hotel, I got so excited. What a let down. The burgers were disgusting, small, soggy. The fries were good, crispy, wavy. If I want good fries, I'll be back. Otherwise, my step father is insane.

Yep, back in Indy for Gen Con. I'm actually glad that I only get White Castle once a year or so. The Jalapeno burgers are so good but they would do me harm if I lived close by. Also, the Barq's Red Cream soda! I've never had this before! Please please, you've got to reduce the amount of paper waste you guys produce. I'm sorry but I had to decrease my review to 3 stars because each little tiny burger has a cardboard holder just as big. I have never seen such waste in a fast food joint before.

I have a fish sandwich, a breakfast sandwich, a slider, cheese fries, and a lack of decision making skills. This White Castle is quick and conveniently located blocks away from the south meridian strip. I grew up in an era where you yelled what you wanted through a speaker, took a ticket number, and waited eons until your order magically appeared behind a thick glass window. Asking for "no onion" really meant asking for two-thirds less onion because, Rhondisha ain't got time to clear off that entire grill. You're getting onions on your burger, your bun, in the sides of your burger box/bag, and possibly in your soft drink! Back then I would not have taken 10 minutes to decide on 10 things, and actually had half my order in any time less than 10 (million) minutes. This place does it right. They are nice, fast, and friendly! I would recommend going on a not so busy night mainly because the bar riff raff (as expected) can be rowdy or entertaining? I'm not a fan of how the prices seem to go up, and the portions look smaller. All things considering the sliders are hors d'oeuvres without the cellophane toothpicks or fancy silver platters fooling us! At almost $1 each they are competing with the times, and I get it. Keeping it classic, yet still modern...maybe. Overall, this location has got it going on when the crave sets in, especially the fourth meal. Thanks, White Castle south street, officially still the King of all things Onion.

Thanks to a particular movie, this was more of a must-go just to say that you have. The burgers here are your average large chain hamburgers. Although, one aspect that adds to the flavor are the grilled onions. Although these are "sliders" and a smaller size than the average fast food hamburger, they can add up. I ordered 4 sliders since my eyes were larger than my stomach after a long walk. I could only finish 2 of them. If you are fan of the movie and like mini hamburgers. This place is one to go to at least once.

For me this place is great. I have never had a white castle burger before except out of the freezer case. They really need this place in California.

Are you kidding me? Hot Fresh Sliders at 2am on the 4th day of a business trip (4th city too)! I always get some Castles when I'm back in the Midwest and this place didn't disappoint. I grabbed some and headed to the JW Marriott - yes WC beats JW's room service ANYTIME.

The sliders gave me the worst smelling farts.. but in the best way. Any establishment operating 24-hours is bound to get my business at some point. Eat local or eat disgusting.

After seeing the movie Harold and Kumar go to White Castle I had to stop by and see what these little burgers were all about. I also saw a food channel segment on White Castle and it showed how all the little burgers were made so I had to try one. I ordered the 4 burger meal and it came with a crinkle fries and a drink. I have to say that I though 4 mini burgers would not be enough for me but I was actually full after eating my meal. The little burgers were really tasty and the grilled onions make a huge difference. I also like the fact that the buns are steamed and are soft and warm. Definitely will be back if I'm ever in town again.

Alright, I admit it. My fascination with White Castle was because of the Harold and Kumar film. When heading back from Indianapolis, I caught a glimpse of a White Castle sign off of the highway, and had to stop. I opted to do drive-through, so I can't speak to the cleanliness of the restaurant. It started out rather annoying, as I got stuck behind a guy in a van, who ended up ordering the Fred Flintstone special, a huge box of sliders that looked like it was going to tip the van over. It took a long while for him to be served, but they eventually got to me. I didn't order much, just 4 of the standard sliders and onion rings. The onion rings were great. As for the sliders...well, I can see why this place is so popular. I could've eaten a bunch of those delicious things! Very good experience with these fast food champs, and can't wait to return. Why don't we have these in Canada?

Muhaha finally I get to try me some White Castle!! Probably not the greatest thing in the world but after the movie Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle had to have it. After all we don't have these things on the West Coast. They are basically sliders and they are super cheap! Got a Jalapeno one for like .70 cents lol. I loved it! I can see this being a popular spot for late night cravings.

Unless you count the frozen sliders in U.S. grocery stores (and I don't), White Castle is only available in the East Coast and Midwest. Since I was in Indianapolis, I had to try a couple or 8 sliders. They're small, with grilled onions and just enough for a late night snack. While not great burgers, they're quick and fill a need.

Clean restaurant. A bit pricey but the little snacks (one single cheese burger and one double cheese bacon burger) were just barely enough to take the edge off. My order was filled pretty quickly. The only problem is the meat is so small it doesn't give me that "mmmphh" when biting into a thicker burger. Amazing though that such a small burger can deliver a large taste leaving you wanting more burgers.

  • Stella C.

We don't have these in my hood so, I had to give it a try. The burgers were just OK, I could have done without the onions... They overwhelmed my taste buds. The sweet potato fries were my favorite, they were apparently suppose to come with sauce that I was told they were out of. All in all I left with a full and satisfied belly. The neighborhood was kinda shady so, word to the wise don't get out of your car if you don't have to. Hit the drivethrough.
