Applebee’s

Reviews:
If this is the Castleton Applebee's, the map is not accurate. This is located directly in front of the mall next to Olive Garden and on the site of the defunct Chi-Chi's. I met about 10 friends there on Friday night and the daughter of one of my friends was serving. Service and food were very good. I had potato skins and boneless wings and I ordered after 10 and they were $3.99 apiece (the sign said you also had to order a drink but my server said I didn't need to and could drink water only but I also ordered a root beer). I think my total bill was $10 and I gave my server $20 and told her to keep the difference. Also some of my friends smoke and they had to go outsIde to do that - very good thing. I will go back for sure when my server is there.

Aunt Millie’s Bakeries

7651 Georgetown Rd
Indianapolis, 46268
Reviews:
Aunt Millie's Thrift Bakery is the ONLY place worth buying basic bread from ANYWHERE. This is the same stuff sold in the grocery store that costs more than milk sometimes. Why do that to yourself when you can get 75% off the retail price at the outlet shop? They carry various brands of baked goods and various foods for great prices. I always find myself buying around ten loaves of bread and freezing it. Sometime they have some overstock bread 2/$1.00, and you can leave without spending over $5 for a TON of bread! It's dirt cheap because it's close to the sell-by date. Just throw the loaves you're not going to use right away in the freezer, and they will taste just as good when you thaw them out. Actually, I think they last longer after you freeze them, but that might just be me. The outlet stores are nothing fancy, and the staff is normal folks, but that's a reality of any outlet shop. I think I go in here about once every two months or so because it takes us a while to get through the last batch I bought. - Nothing fancy, a building with a door - Quality products for a fraction of the retail price - Great bread variety (rye, pumpernickel, multigrain, wheat, white, etc.) - 2/$1.00 deals every day - Always fully stocked; never out of the good stuff (except near Christmas) - Feel free to bring your own bags - Debit/Credit accepted, but you could just use a handful of change because its so cheap! - Two locations in Indy (the other's on the East side) Aunt Millie's (aka Perfection Bakeries) started in Fort Wayne, IN in 1901. I'm a total nerd when it comes to buying products that are produced locally, so buying their bread is an added bonus for Indiana nerds. The company is also very active in recycling, making their products healthier, and donating bread to charities. I think I started buying Aunt Millie's when the NO High Fructose Corn Syrup fad was going on. Now I'm spoiled and I can't go back to regular bread at the grocery store.

2001 Bar

Reviews:
I have been dying to go here ever since I moved to Fountain Square. Finally on a whim stopped in with my adventurous friend. It's awesome! If you like your bars a little on the dive-y side like I do, that is. The hand painted sign outside says "$1.00 days Wed, Thurs". I am expecting an 8 oz plastic cup of draft Keystone Light, but what's this? Any domestic bottle?! This is crazy town! They have a shuffle board, which I called shuffle puck and was quickly laughed at, whatever. This seems to have quite the following. Very competitive, hoots, oohs and ahh's, and I am guessing some side bets too. The bar itself is quite small with only 4 seats. Never fear Rosie is a great bartender, quick, friendly, and funny. There are a ton of small tables too. The weekends host a house band that is a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll. Beers go up to a whopping $2.50 on the weekends. Free wings on Tuesdays?! WTF?! How is this even possible? There is a pool table and a crack machine, but we had more fun meeting some of the regulars at the "round bar". Touch tunes juke box was playing all night, mostly country which seems fitting. It's a been a family business for 47 years! Practically unheard of these days. I am going to make this my home away from home. Expect to see me and Chuck hanging out at the up coming Hog Roast, Oct. 8th.

I don't have a lot to say about Drifty's, a nondescript strip mall bar in Southport, other than that I love it. My boyfriend and I met there and we've been regulars for years. We try to stop in at least once a week to see our fellow regular patrons (you can almost always count on the same crowd at the bar in the late afternoon.) We love our bartenders, and the owner has always made us feel at home here. We'll continue to be regulars as long as we live on the south side :)

This place isn't bad. It's nestled right next to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, on some days you can hear the drivers testing tires or watch golfers on the 9 or 18. The food is a little expensive for what you get, but the burgers are amazing!

California Connection Gourmet Deli

Reviews:
Rewind two years ago to when my husband and I were planning our wedding. We'd received quotes for $50 per person for food, let alone beverage, and that just wasn't going to fly with our budget. We kept looking and landed on California Connection. Gourmet Deli doesn't even begin to explain how incredible California Connection is at their job.We were on a tight budget and needed to feed a lot of people. They pulled it off with the utmost attention to detail, service, and quality. They served our guests buffet-style, where we opted for their horseradish crusted salmon and citrus rosemary chicken. Basic wedding food, but it was delicious and the price was right. On a side note, California Connection even allowed us to get a temporary beer and wine permit and bring in our own alcohol. Their servers were licensed to serve and worked the bar. This alone saved us a ton of money -- plus we were able to serve local beer and wine. If you're looking for a very affordable caterer, call California Connection and ask for Dan. They rock.

They were very busy on this Saturday afternoon. But I went through the drive-thru ordered a chicken sammie & sweet tea. Folks were pleasant and my tea and chicken were fresh made and really didn't have to wait too extra long in line. Got to hand it to this crew - excellent job for fast food!

A nice warm sandwich. The owner of this particular store works behind the counter is very friendly. This is a big plus to me as I eat lunch out quite a bit. I like to support local people.
