It looks like it's been a long time since anyone reviewed this place but we thought we'd give it a try for Sunday brunch. There was a picky eater in the bunch that loves all breakfast foods and mainly eats carbs so this was a good place. It's an old building- ya know Fort Ben has been there forever, like even when I was a kid, ha. The brunch is held in one of their big ball rooms so the table and chairs are of course fold ups. After we all took turns kicking the table when getting up or shaking it as we cut our meat, we overlooked it. There are huge tables that appeared to be more stable but they seated large groups. The clientele seemed older also, although there were families and a mix of all. It's a great place to take grandma with an elevator and a handicapped entrance. They take reservations but only for the Sunday brunch. Now to the food. They had a descent salad table, a huge choice of breakfast items with an omelet & waffle table, a meat carving station with ham roast beef & a beautiful whole salmon, along with entrees of fried chicken and catfish on the main table, and a desert table. The only thing lacking was vegetables, but most people don't go to a buffet thinking, "I'm sure going to skip the meats & carbs & eat a lot of veggies. -but a few more would be a nice balance. And the other thing was the desserts were all store bought instead of fresh or from scratch made. There were a lot of fruit pies and of course a piece of Wicks pecan or sugar cream pie is very eatable. The waitress can bring you any drink you want and ours was very attentive clearing plates and keeping refills coming. There's lots of items to choose from so I don't think anyone would be disappointed. It's not a fancy brunch with ice carvings etc, but the price fairly reflects the casual kick back and visit with your friends & family atmosphere. All in all we enjoyed it very much and will go back.

I met my parents here for lunch on a chilly fall day. We were all pleasantly surprised by the wonderful taste of the home-cooked styled food at the Garrison. From what I understand, it is a buffet-only set up in a small room of the building. They have plenty of options on the buffet as far as typical stick to your ribs cuisine - mashed potatoes & gravy, macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, barbeque ribs, and endless dessert options. I just wish there were a couple more vegetarian options. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and the courteous staff helped to make our lunch that much more enjoyable. Just make sure to get there earlier since they close the restaurant at 2pm. We also enjoyed a nice walk in the state park after lunch - $5/car for Indiana residents and $7 for out of state. If you have time on the weekend, you could fill your day with exploring Ft. Harrison State Park, horseback riding, and checking out the historical buildings. Nice get away for lunch or a longer retreat!

I have not had a better brunch in Indy. It's not the cheapest meal you can get, but the top notch service, and the food that just keeps coming, with the carving station, the omlette station, the table of nothing but desserts- we have had honest to goodness fights over who has to drive home. You guessed it, all of us want to food coma after. I would definitely make reservations if there's even a whiff of a special event/holiday- we've gone before and been turned away. Also, it's not the most accessible restaurant- my friend who uses a wheelchair had to go a long way around to an elevator, but still- good food!

I've been going here for Sunday brunch for years. The quality wasn't as good as it had once been the last few times I have been there but this visit was excellent. Always get the Belgian waffles cooked to order as well as the slice roast beef. My only complaint is the desserts are pretty pedestrian. Good service with no rushing makes for a relaxing Sunday brunch.

The best food that I have eaten in Indianapolis. The Price per value is outstanding and can't be beat in Indy. Thanks for the great meals

I had the pleasure of having Sunday brunch for the first time this past weekend. The Garrison has a beautiful dining area with a really nice view of what I'm guessing might be part of the golf course. Brunch is a nice sized buffet, a carving station, and an omelet and waffle station. The Buffett has all of your breakfast staples like biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, French toast, etc. on the Sunday I went there were also green chili enchiladas, BBQ ribs, and pork loin. I believe the carving station had ham and roast beef. The cost of brunch is right around $20 and comes with OJ or apple juice, soda is extra. It was a really nice experience.

Wedding for a family member. The deck was really nice with great views. The bar-tender was terrific, and would bring my drinks whenever I was getting low without being asked. (I sat near the bar, and tipped generously on my first round) If they do not have the liquor you want, just ask.

This review is about the Sunday brunch. While the $18 price tag is a little pricey, they have great food and friendly service. More lunch items than breakfast, although they do have a waffle and omelette station. They also had a carving station with whole salmon, ham, and prime rib. Nice fresh salad bar, lots of tasty sides. I really enjoyed the mixed greens with ham.

I'm a Sunday brunch snob. There, I said it. The Garrison isn't the Fairmont, but it is a lovely place for a reasonably priced brunch with a great selection. Now, I know this will sound a bit odd- I like my mac & cheese al la Kraft. The Garrison's homemade mac & cheese was AMAZING... dangerously close to Shapiro's. Great waffles, desserts, and service. Served in the Blue Herron room- overlooking the golf course. I would definitely go again!

When it comes to buffets, I am very picky. I use to live in Las Vegas back in the day of the $1.95 buffet, hence my hesitation to even go to a buffet. There, I have now aged myself! Now for the low down on the Garrison's Sunday brunch buffet-- I have to say, when I first walked in, I was not impressed, re: there was the ugly silver buffet line that I always dread and when we sat down, I was a little miffed over the fact that I was siting at an old card table with a white table cloth on it, but then came the surprise--the very pleasant service and the great home style cooking (those usually trump the aesthetics). We grazed through the salad fixings (they did actually have spinach) briefly then went to the carving station, and I filled my plate, since there was two, what the chef called, whole baked salmon that looked great and he opened up the skin to reveal flaky, moist salmon that was awesome. We also tried the prime rib, which was very flavorful but cut the wrong way so a little tough, and pork (a little dry but very tasty), but the salmon was the best. Then came that long line of silver buffet pans, and lo and behold, we found corn meal battered catfish that was flaky and tasty, southern fried chicken that was moist and flavorful, beef tenders that actually melted in your mouth , fresh tender green beans in onions and bacon (and they were still a touch crisp-yummy and fresh), along with the usual suspects of pasta & red sauce, macaroni and cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy and others. They also had a huge waffle and omelet station that we never made, but the server told us that that's one of their specialties since he has every ingredient imaginable (we'll have to try next time). We definitely checked out the dessert station that I couldn't help myself from since it was staring me in the face the whole time I was eating (we sat right next to it). They had several cheesecakes, several pies-fruit, nut and cream, chocolate cake (the only dessert that was disappointing-it was dry), and a great apple cobbler. This is not your over the top, elegant brunch but is a lovely place for a reasonably priced ($17.99) brunch with a great selection. In speaking to the server who was very pleasant, she mentioned they might be serving outside in the future, which I think would be an awesome idea since they have a lovely terrace overlooking a golf course with trees unlike most places that have outside seating that look over a parking lot. Overall, the pros outweighed the cons for me, and I would definitely go again!

The Prime Rib and Salmon make the price worth it before you even start on the line. Standard Breakfast fair done well to include Omelet station and main Lunch items from Baked Chicken to Pastas to Salads to a Kids Bar for the young ones. Save room as their desserts which are rich and filling not the standard boxed stuff. All the food is fresh, tastes home made, with not filler items or short cuts to fill you up.
