Healthy Meal suggestions for Texas Roadhouse

I chose to bump this Texas Roadhouse to three stars instead of two stars for two reasons: 1) our server, Jeremy, was quite attentive and 2) it's a Texas Roadhouse, which should keep your expectations low. We were greeted immediately and seated shortly thereafter, which is always nice. Jeremy was knowledgeable of the menu as well as the beer list. It seemed like we waited a bit longer for our food than normal, but not too bad. Our 6 year old could not be talked out of the kid's Mac and Cheese, which the menu clearly states is Kraft. Kudos to them for the clear advertising, however it arrived as a congealed ball that appeared to have been made no less than three hours prior to our arrival. My husband's strip steak was "really well" done vs. the ordered "medium". My grilled chicken salad was pretty good and our 3 year old's hotdog looked reasonably appealing. In the end, Jeremy had the Mac and cheese taken off the bill and told my husband to let our server know if his steak was too done in the future (my husband ate the whole thing before mentioning it). I hate to end on a negative, but it must be said. Don't ever look at the bottom side of the table here. Using the flashlight app on my phone to search for a dropped Lego piece, I noticed no less than a dozen pieces of old gum stuck to the underside of the table. Gross.

We prefer this location. We live on the west side of Indianapolis and we still come here. They bring out a basket of rolls with cinnamon butter. We always start out with a onion blossom with ranch dressing and the blossom sauce. The blossom sauce has horseradish in it and I am not a fan. But Kyle likes it. Next we both got 6 oz sirloins. They come with 2 sides for $9.99 I love the side salads with all the fixings, eggs cheese tomatoes and croutons. The staff is amazing. Everyone has been very friendly.

We went on Mother's Day and it was crazy packed. I am not sure if they take reservations, but I should have looked into that. We had to wait forever for a table since my Aunt was in a wheelchair and can't do the booths. I think at least 75% of the restaurant is booth so we had to wait a loooong time. But we were finally seated and everything was great. Our server was excellent and our food was all hot and exactly what we ordered. I got the double pork chops so I could take one home. They were flavorful and I love the sweet potato and the option o get a salad as a side.

Yeeee-Haaa! Texas Roadhouse was a pleasant surprise. I was hesitant to go since eat neither pork nor beef, and those are the first two things that I think of when I hear "Texas barbecue." I was quite pleased by the variety of menu offerings at Texas Roadhouse. Expect the normal "All American" cuisine offerings like chicken tenders, onion blossoms, and good 'ol burgers and fries; allow yourself to be surprised by things like smothered chicken and grilled shrimp over rice. If you're looking for something quick, tasty, and relatively cheap, the friendly atmosphere of Texas Roadhouse may be just right for you. Giddy up!

Just like every other Texas Roadhouse that exists. The food is pretty good but the service isn't great. Our waitress is good but the rest of the staff look miserable. They give the vibe that they all hate their job.

I had a hankerin' for a steak and it was nearly 10pm. This was about the only place open that I could get one so I headed on over to satisfy my craving. Now some of you guys may think 4 stars is a bit high for this place. And you'd be right, if I were just talking about the food. The food is just ok. I ordered the Ribeye and it was large. (That's what she said. Ha! Sorry, couldn't help myself.) Anyhow, it was cooked as I had requested and it was...fine. Nothing wrong with it but nothing incredible as well. But what pushed me to add that extra star was their service. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a smile and seated. My server was always checking up on me and made sure I was ok. She also made sure to converse and joke around with me. Keep in mind, I was there just before closing. Usually servers are moving like zombies at the end of the night and just about as friendly, too. Not the case here. That's what impressed me the most. So if I'm ever in the mood for a steak around 10pm again, you'll probably find me here.

Doesn't honor early dining specials? Every Texas Roadhouse my husband and I have dined at even in other states has always had the early dine specials. I would not recommend going to this particular restaurant. Service mediocre, food was standard

So after driving for about 12 hours straight, the last thing I wanted to do was get in my car and drive some more to find a place to eat. Texas Roadhouse was right next to my hotel so it won by default. And it really did the job perfectly. All I wanted was greasy food and a cold beer. The staff was really friendly and the service was quick. We got their version of a blooming onion. It wasn't that great but I enjoyed my meal. I got the pulled pork with caesar salad and loaded baked potato. It was good and there was so much that it basically turned into two meals. And it was cheap. It came out to $20 each with tax and tip.

Meat, booze, and country music! What could go wrong? I'm a vegetarian/pescetarian, don't drink, and the blaring country music is incessant. Should you like these things, you might do well. If you're on a diet, a carb counter, or looking for broadly wholesome food, think twice, then just pop the free peanuts in your mouth and form a line dance. If the American Heart Association weren't so easily bribed, they might shut the place down as hazmat.

I visited this store on Tuesday evening, getting there at about 9:50pm. I was afraid we would get poor service and/or good since we were getting there late and fairly close to closing time. I was completely wrong. I had the best service I have had from any restaurant I. Years. Put waiter made sure we had everything we needed and we never had to ask to have our drinks refilled because he had another glass out just before I ran out each time. The food was perfect. Not abnormal for Roadhouse but I figured they may rush it and it wasn't. The meal and service was so good that it warranted an over 25% tip. For me, that's unheard of. I tip strictly on service with 15% when service is adequate. They went well overboard and I will he telling my friends.

I will put out a disclaimer that I am a vegetarian who should not be eating at a steakhouse in general, but this is my opinion of it, and I have liked other steakhouses. I am also skeptical of chain restaurants in general, but I have definitely had good experiences at some. This was one of my worst experiences at a restaurant ever. A close (meat-loving) friend wanted to have a celebratory dinner here, so being the good friend that I am I reluctantly tagged along. Only to discover that the vegetarian options are even worse than I am used to. I was told that the loaded, baked sweet potato was fantastic, so I ordered that and planned to eat something else later. The sweet potato, the one thing I was hoping would make the place not horrible, was one of the worst sweet potatoes I have had. I love sweet potatoes and eat them all the time at home. But this one was stringy, either old or overcooked or both, and the "loaded" was not actually very loaded with much to take away the taste. Country music blared constantly, it was very loud, the decor was all country-cowboy-esque and hideous, and I begged my friends to leave as soon as possible. I don't care what is being celebrated, I am not going back. So you might like this type of place, I don't know... but me? I hated it. I am sticking to Ponderosa and Fogo de Chao for my steakhouse experiences with friends.

Got here at 9 on a Friday and was able to be seated right away. So started good. That was about the extent of good service! Waiter was slow in service and barely came over. When she did finally get our food order and asked if we were ready one of the girls in my party said, "we were ready when you brought us our drinks". Next thing we know we finish have a different waitress. Even taking the check was unbearable as she took each of our 3 person party check individually to the register.

My date and I came into this restaurant on a Friday night. I have been here before and the service was great and exceptional. Tonight, was far less from exceptional. Our server Tessa Rose wasn't really engaged with us and spoke very little to us during our dining experience. I don't know if this was just a bad day for her or something, but I feel this is a great opportunity for some retraining in customer service. Being a manager in the hospitality industry, I know what to look for in great service and unfortunately did not receive that here this night. The food was great as always but felt the disconnect from Tessa that left the lasting impression. She was not interactive with us and towards the end she came and put the check at the end of the table and walked away.....without asking if we wanted dessert or if we wanted a second margarita. These are usually great times to do some upsales on customers. We would have spent more money for that but felt like we were being rushed out of the restaurant. Overall the food was great as always but unfortunately it will be the server that we will remember more. We may or may not be back.

We went here with a large crowd. They don't take reservations, and they don't seat large parties until EVERY person in the party has arrived. There was an area with tables that could be pushed together, but for some reason they refused to seat us there. So we were seated in booths that were next to each other. The food is always good here, and I love the ribs. The fresh baked rolls are excellent.

Not a good experience. My son won a voucher for a free kid's meal, so we went there on Saturday night to make him happy. He did not like the food and thought that most places around town do a better job with the chicken tenders. I took a bite...and agreed. The adult meals were poor value for money, even for a cheaper chain like this. For some reason the food tasted very salty - My steak, the French fries, the sautéed mushrooms. The service was mediocre. And then was the noise. The place is just plain loud. Certainly not a place for families with kids. Maybe adults will enjoy screaming at each other when trying to communicate. We will not come back. As for others, my advice for steak lovers who like the lower prices is - go out less often but when you do treat yourself to one of the much better steakhouses which Indianapolis has to offer.

I talked all my family to going to Texas Roadhouse this Saturday, there was 9 of us. I have been to other locations and had a great experience. We were in the area for a basketball tournament. It was also my husband and my celebration for our anniversary meal and I wanted steak. I have never felt more NOT welcomed in a restaurant in my life. No one wanted us there it was very evident. We were told they could not seat us. That was it. Then the 2 hosts ignored us all standing there. The phone rang and while I was waiting for acknowledgement and the host answered. I asked what the wait would be, the response was so rude, rolled her eyes and said over an hour. The manager talked to the hosts and not us. We stood there shocked and left feeling very upset. We went to the neighboring restaurant Ruby Tuesday and spent our money there.

It has been a while since I stepped into a Texas Roadhouse because I have been in morning since the Black Bean chicken was removed from the menu almost 7 years ago. Yes, I realize I should get over it, but I can't. Decided to give it a shot for Besties Night Out two weeks ago because it's been long enough, right? After verbalizing my wish for the return of said chicken dish, the manager was summoned to our table, where she had no clue what I was talking about (for shame!), but did give us a free appetizer (maybe I should verbalize my feelings more often?!?). Food was great, service was great, margarita was superb. I'll try my best to let bygones be bygones and add this TR back into circulation...

I am giving this place 3 stars for the ribs. I know its a "steak house" but I wouldnt come here for anything except for the ribs. They are "fall off the bone" delicious. service is ok.

I went here for dinner with my boyfriend and his family and it was ok if you like walking on a floor littered with peanut shells. Also the constant shouting of waitstaff saying it's someone's birthday and to give a big 'ol YEE HAW. They had done this at least 2-3 times that night and it was annoying. Our waitress was great she was very attentive and was really good with bringing our drinks and checking in on us.The food was good since it was BBQ. Its ok just the yee hawing and peanuts shells on the floor was a bit much.

I am shocked by how excited the previous Yelper is about a mediocre, incredibly boring chain. I guess everyone has different experiences. When you live in Chain USA, you don't have a lot of options. I went here to seize my craving for cheese fries only to be VERY disappointed. On top of that, my MILD wings made my mouth burn and my eyes water. Maybe I'm a wuss, but NOTHING I've had here has ever been very good. Yes, they display all their meats but it doesn't mean they know how to cook them. I do not understand the obsession with the peanuts either. Who knows how many hands have been in that bucket before yours! YUCK. Also our waiter/bartender was incredibly distracted, not very nice and I hate the fact that he was wearing a t-shirt that proclaimed "I Love My JOB!" on it. What a load of shit! No one loves it that much and one should not be forced to wear it. It makes it much less true especially when he seems as far from "in love" as one human can be! Overall - Nasty. Will not go back. If I could blow up every other chain restaurant in this city, there would still be too many!

I really wish I could tell you how delicious the food is, but I feel as if I always fill up on the rolls at Texas Roadhouse. Ok, to put my love for these rolls in to perspective: I ate about 10 of them on Thanksgiving Day this year as my mother surprised my wife an I with 2 dozen of them. I seriously love these rolls...just not the ones on my body they cause. Rolls aside, the food is very good. On this occasion I had the pork chops. They were perfectly cooked and accompanied by an excellent sweet potato with brown sugar and marshmallows. Our service was friendly and timely, a pleasant surprise as were wore New Orleans Saints gear in an Indianapolis restaurant. Sure we took a few jabs, but everyone was very nice (maybe a little bitter over last year's Superbowl). Overall, a great experience.

My preference when going to a steak house is a private restaurant versus a corporate chain however, sometimes that can be hard to do when you're traveling or pressed for time. In that situation, Texas Roadhouse is a passable substitute. You're not likely to walk out of the place marveling at the quality of their meat (unless this is the only steakhouse you frequent) but the food is tasty, plentiful and definitely easy on your budget. The restaurant on Michigan Road on Indianapolis's northwest side is a good choice. I've eaten there a couple dozen times over the past few years when I traveled there on business regularly. It is also handy to a number of motels so if you need to spend the night in Indy, convenience is something to remember. I found the service to be generally decent with a bad apple here and there over the years. I suspect this is better than average when it comes to the corporate chain restaurants.

I came here for some steak craving. I will agree with one reviewer, the steak I ordered was slightly overdone but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. I ordered the rattlesnake bites and the Ft. Worth Ribeye with the green bean and sweet potato for sides. I thought the rattlesnake bites were like little hard jalapeno poppers. The steak was slightly overcooked but it was still juicy and tender. As for the green beans, they were not to my liking, nasty! I did like the sweet potato, I didn't get the butter or brown sugar on it so it was just plain but still pretty sweet. Oh! A must get drink is the Sweet Iced Tea! I love Sweet Ice Tea! Prices are very reasonable and they have a special right now if you go before 6pm, they have like 10-12 items for $7 with two sides! Pretty good deal in my opinion.

Terrible service. It was awful and I haven't been back since. I remember the experience vividly and that was 2003. Waiter was downright disrespectful of my guests and the manager didn't care (and I've never want to speak with a manager because I just expect better and I shouldn't have to bring it to your attention.) I won't go into details because it may involve a legal matter, and I don't want anyone accused of libel, but it was bad. I considered calling the authorities and probably should have. Unfortunately, I have been back to other locations, against my will but by the wise decision maker's insisting. Each and every time, we have gotten bad service, and each time with the decision maker seeming to defend the place, as if this service was an isolated incident. I beg to differ... {RANT} I really hate that Indy is dominated by chains, because the bad ones continue to exist long after their time. Whereas a mom and pop local restaurant would have gotten a bad rep for poor service, and been forced to shut down, here in Indy, people go to chains because they are familiar with the name and the name brand brings this false sense of trust (ie, of course Olive Garden is clean and Olive Garden makes sure their employees wash their hands, sound familiar?) {/RANT} Normally I would not endorse an anonymous review with a one star rating, but Foodie B.'s review does not surprise me about that place. In fact, if Yelp sees fit to remove it (which they probably should), I just want to say that you should think twice about this chain. If you like good food and don't care about the service, then this place is meh, but the people here could care less about you and the customers that they treat as herded cattle.

I wasnt really sure what to expect, was in the mood for a steak so decided to stop in for dinner. Noticed they offered fried pickles for an appetizer which I usually love, the ones they serve however were pretty aweful! Besides the pickles being salty the batter was incredibly salty also and our pickles sat in a pool of oil so we didn't make it through all of them. For my entree I orderd a strip steak which suprised me by being a little touch and a little overcooked for my taste since I ordered medium rare. I also ordered the additional sauteed mushrooms and onions which were smothered on my steak and were a little overwhelming. Whomever was cooking that night went salt crazy because they were extremely seasoned and salty as well, which ended up overpowering the flavor of the steak. At the end of my meal I also noticed a piece of paper under my steak and when I asked my server about that she replied that it was probably just the order ticket that got stuck to the steak as if it were a normal occurance. (yuk!) Although the price for a steak meal was fairly reasonable, I wish we would have gone down the street to Outback, sorry Texas Roadhouse.

Another Texas Roadhouse location, but I think it's time give up on these for me. The service was rude here! They had this fat dark haired guy as the host at night. He was nice when you walked in but an asshole when you left, making derogatory quibs when you left. Just a punk! The waiters/waitresses all wear these black t-shirts which says "I love my job" on the back, but looking at all these premadonnas walking around, I would say give me your shirt and let me wipe my asshole with it. It's about the same.

when they grabbed the silverware from a horse troff, my eyebrow raised if you want to hear GAWD BLESS TEXAS a 1000 times, i loved the tiny booth (literally for 2) they sat us in, bucket of peanuts & trash bucket was on the table with the list of before 6PM Specials Hidden in it, & we had to rush to order those because according to our waiter Bobby "they're timed in on the clock" we skipped Appetizers & went for the 6oz steak & Sweet Potato, which i think is my favorite thing there the thing that held the drink specials hadn't been cleaned in a while, sticky & which i complained to the bouncy girl that came around with free take home peanuts, who had be kept on the job as a comsumer somethingorother instead of her usual barkeep job due to a broken arm, she blamed it on the waiter, i said probably the last night's waiter (or last week's) the food other than the sweet potatoes was uneventful texasroadhouse.com/conte…

i'm not sure how you can be called "texas roadhouse" when you are from a town in Indiana. small gripe, i know i know. the food is decent, my steak was alright (even though they were out of prime rib!). my big gripe is the customer service honestly. we went about 2 pm on Sunday and there was about 10 tables sat in the restaurant. Even with the multitude of empty tables, the host tries to sit us at the one table with a FULL bus tub sitting on one of the seats. Umm... =( The waitress was friendly, kind of missing when it was time for the bill, and when we were leaving, even with 5 people standing at the hostess stand talking, there was no "thank you" or "have a nice day" or any acknowledgement at all. Hmmm... the rolls are great, but honestly the staff needs some work.

Best dinner on the road for the last 3 weeks going through 8 states from California. Excellent 6 oz sirloin for only $10--cooked exactly to the specifications. Hubbie is very picky about ribs and Loved these. Excellent broccoli and califlower in the fresh veggie cooked sides. It's been hard to find cooked fresh veggies done correctly in Midwest restaurants. But the best ever were the fresh hot dinner ROLLS. My husband loved the butter with them but they were so outstanding I ate them without. We usually don't eat the bread offered before the meal but we couldn't resist! Good margarita! Very attentive and friendly personnel. Definitely better than the outback. Trip advisor would not let me review this specific roadhouse, so I'm glad that yelp did.

Ready for 2000+ calories of fun? Well you've come to the right place! Texas Roadhouse starts you off with rolls that are 227 calories a piece; you should get a prize if you can resist eating under four before your real meal comes because these things are just soft, fluffy piles of sugary dough glistening with just the right touch of oil on the outside--irresistible. Oh, did I mention that it comes with cinnamon butter too (not factored into the calorie count)? If you get an appetizer, be prepared to be stuffed by the time the Texas-sized main entree makes its way to your table. Since I'm a quick eater, I down about 1000 calories before my salad comes and then down about 1000 more during the salad and bread-eating phase. Almost all their dinners come with a house salad, so be prepared to EAT EAT EAT! With that being said, Texas Roadhouse is absolutely DELICIOUS. Their warm rolls are to die for (and you just might by age 40 at this rate). Their famous appetizer, the cactus blossom, is just a fried onion with layers shed off around it in a blooming flower shape that surrounds the bigger pieces that are bunched together to make up the "cactus" in the middle. Why do they do this? First, because it looks pretty cool the first time. Secondly, it maximizes the surface area for maximum breading and grease. I mean seriously, they even give you some special sauce for this in case the grease and salt aren't overwhelming enough. Like I said, that doesn't mean it doesn't taste wonderful. Let me just say I used to come to Texas Roadhouse every week, and it was certainly a food adventure I looked forward to. Unfortunately, that was before I learned the health hazards of eating at a supersized place such as this one. We blame the obesity epidemic on fast food and a variety of other junk (donuts, etc.), but family restaurants like Texas Roadhouse somehow don't get the same kind of negative health press that a McDonald's gets, despite being WORSE for you than a Big Mac combo meal with an apple pie on the side. Thus, the obesity epidemic isn't REALLY coming from any one particular type of food or restaurant but from ignorance. Blissful ignorance, but ignorance nonetheless. There's a reason Texas Roadhouse and chains like it will fight the movements to put calorie counts on all their items. Can you really justify eating something that has a few day's worth of saturated fat and sodium? Many people can't, and that's why this review is so low. If you're just going for taste and value, and you're not really concerned about calories or health (at least for a night), then Texas Roadhouse is the place for you. The food here is wonderfully priced, delicious, and they give you free rolls and peanuts to begin your meal. You will never leave Texas Roadhouse unsatisfied or craving more food. The steak is pretty decent, but they have a lot of other good Southern food too like country fried chicken or steak and the like. However, for health reasons and the rise of the obesity epidemic, I cannot in good conscience give Texas Roadhouse an amazing review for the same reason I'll tip a pregnant woman $40 on a $20 bill--because I care about people and their well-being. My review isn't an indictment of Texas Roadhouse's quality of food. Its purpose is to educate and give pause to those who are on the fence about eating here. If you do eat here, I'd recommend capping yourself at 2 rolls, a salad, and immediately putting half of your main meal into a to-go box. You'll feel better about it in the morning. :)
