Tastings A Wine Experience Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Brilliant location and being attached to the hotel in downtown Indy. I have experienced this wine tasting concept with the automated machines in Orlando, and I enjoyed this new experience. Tastings has a more open floor plan, which I liked, as well as the option to dine or taste or both. Lots of seating, but also lots of places to set drinks if you are standing. I absolutely think pour out buckets is a necessity, something my previous go-to wine tasting place was missing. However, I did not like how these machines only offer one size portion. I like having at least an option for a smaller portion, a tasting if you will, before spending more money on something I may or may not enjoy.

Very cool concept- my coworker and I wandered in on a Thursday night when we were in Indy for a work trip. Bonus points for being open when everyone else was closed! The flatbreads were half price and very tasty. The wines are in dispensers around the room, and you can load up your card to do tastings. We didn't do a tasting since we had a big day ahead, but did enjoy a nice glass of wine. I would love to come back here for the whole experience!

Wine is great, but you can have a good bottle of wine in the most surprising of places. So, guess you gotta base the review of apps, atmosphere and staff. So: staff is friendly, apps are tasty and atmosphere is a typical-for-its-time nice spot for grabbing a glass of crushed grapes. They do have some other bar items, but don't go too rogue--they didn't have my drink (Pimms). Atmosphere is pleasant, music not too loud, and a giant screen rotating some famous impressionist paintings. Big ups to them for also being open later, and still serving apps after 10pm. I'm sure I'll be back again soon.

I've never been more disappointed in "Hoosier Hospitality," than I was last night and I'm a Hoosier. I was entertaining friends from both out of town and overseas and was greeted with rudeness and disrespect from the assistant manager (Michael E) when I was told to take my friends to another restaurant when they wanted to buy a couple bottles of nice wine and have a nice smoke outside on the patio after dinner. I would have expected more from a fine establishment associated with a fine hotel like the Conrad, but apparently you just can't find good help anymore. I will not attempt to take any more out of town guest to the Tastings!! I wish I could post with zero stars!

This is a place that I can't help but love. The concept is great, get a Tasting card, add value to it as you see fit, select wine of your choice, and taste away. You can also just order many of the wines by the glass as well as bottle. When it is really crowded, I usually opt for a glass of wine rather than trying to make my way through the crowd. It is a perfect place for me to take family and out of town guests, which always seem to love it. When the weather is nice, the patios both on Washington St. and Illinois are great for celebrity/people watching. I often play count the Maseratis or Bentleys if sitting on the Washington St. side, as the valets love to keep them parked in front of The Conrad for show. One drawback to sitting on the patio is that patrons are allowed to smoke, according to the manager, and nothing puts the brakes on an enjoyable evening of wine sipping like a stinky cigar in your face. While the servers are always nice, many times they are not the best at prompt service, and seem a bit overwhelmed, even when they are not super-busy. Seems to be a high staff turnover. That being said, I will continue to return, as it is a great little place to enjoy a glass of wine or two in the heart of downtown Indy.

The wine list is fabulous. But they have nothing new on the menu. If they could have a rotating menu with new items I would come here more than once a year.

This is such a cool concept. Happy to have stumbled upon it while visiting downtown Indy. Gave us the opportunity to try different wines we wouldn't have the opportunity to try otherwise. There were whites and reds of various geographical locations and price points. Something for everyone!

I went for lunch to sit outside with a gal pal who came out of town from Dallas. Kat and I enjoyed a long afternoon in the sun watching onlookers walk by in the heart of downtown. I loved it. It is a very upscale, classy yet relaxed and chilled experience. Our service was excellent and there were mid-day wine specials for half off house wine on a Tuesday afternoon. It was a GREAT way to spend a day with a friend. We each got a lunch salad, me the steak and she got the chicken. Both were excellent, well balanced and I really enjoyed my wine! It could have been the company but the overall experience was enhanced to the point that I won't overlook this location again when choosing a place to indulge in the future. It is a great location at the Conrad and easy to find with great options but not an overwhelming menu.

Looking for something fun to do with your friends during the evening hours? And do your friends like wine? Surely your friends like wine ... Tastings is quite literal in the sense that you're able to load a "Tastings card" with whatever amount of money you decide to spend on tastings of wine. There are several wines set up in a soda fountain type fashion. You walk around with your glass, put in your card and sample whatever you please. This place is attached to the Conrad, so if you happen to be staying there - might as well walk downstairs and check it out! This isn't a place JUST for wine. No worries. You can get your beer and cocktails as well -- along with small plates of deliciousness. What else can you find at Tastings? Live music. Ah, the live music. I was there the other night and was able to listen to "Gentlemen's Rule." an a cappella group . So good.

This place is so cool. The idea is that you get a tasting card and then help yourself to tastes of wine from a selection that seems endless the first time you visit. They have generous and well prepared appetizers here but seriously.....stay with the wine. Share a cheese plate or a flatbread but check out the wine. The server will bring you a menu and they don't really explain the whole tasting thing unless you ask. Avoid the temptation to order a glass and get a card and explore. It is really a lot of fun. Don't worry if one of your group is a beer person. They have a few things of interest for them too.

Don't come here. House wine. ... Not worth it. Onion soup ... Sweet??? What is that? Artichoke bisque...are u kidding? Boring. Chicken salad ... NO flavor. Asked for lemon vinaigrette ... Forgot the lemon Don't come here.

Definitely a unique experience. You shan't be disappointed. I should've ventured beyond the Pinot Noir station, but I just couldn't help myself! I loaded my "Tastings Card" with $20, but quickly realized how that dwindles after only three tastings. Service was near immaculate - Max was superb. Food was great too! I tried the crab dip, seared tuna, filet pizza, and marquis cake.

Def one of my fav places in Indy. The wine selection is amazing and the food always interesting and tasty. I've found two of my favorite wines at this place: Barista and Sexual Chocolate. Tastings has a beautiful patio that's great for summer afternoons. My fiancé and I love to come here after dinner for wine and snacks!

My husband and I came here around 11:30 pm on a Sat night. The weather was beautiful and we sat on the patio. Good people watching. We wanted to order wine and I asked the server for a taste of a specific wine before I committed to it. She acted like she was doing me a favor by doing it but luckily I liked it and ordered a glass. For food, we ordered the steak bites (overcooked), crab cakes (delicious), and cheese plate (melba toast instead of bread, really?). The service was just okay. Her personality was a little off-putting. One minute she was dismissive and borderline rude, the next minute, she was attentive and nice. Odd. Overall, experience was just okay.

Early bird gets the wine :) I really like this place! It was even better when paired with a Yelp event. I think it's been almost a year since I've been here. Started with some tastings and appetizers thanks to Yelp Indy, a French Rhone followed by a Spanish Ribero del Duero and then an Italian something or other ha ha... Settled on the Rhone and got a bottle and a cheese plate which was awesome! Then switched to pressed coffee and dessert. Great service and ambiance! Come early after work for casual or come later dressed to the hilt!

Love the atmosphere, with pleasant paintings of wine and a modern look and feel. There is a huge variety of different wines that you can try small tastings of. I would not recommend it for a full meal, but I like to go there just to hang out, relax, and try a new wine or two. If I'm hungry, I sometimes get the cheese plate.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. The concept is super fun - they have tasting stations where you can get a 2 oz sample of TONS of different wines. It is a wonderful way to try more expensive wines that we would ordinarily never be able to afford a bottle of (or wouldn't buy without trying first!). It can get really busy on the weekends, but what good place doesn't? The food is also wonderful, although somewhat small portions for the price on some things. But I think this is balanced out by the fact that you can buy wine by the bottle to drink while you're there or to take home, for the same price or less than at a liquor store, and significantly less than you would pay at a restaurant! Also, we love to stay at the Conrad, which is where Tastings is located. Gorgeous. The location is right in the middle of downtown Indy, which makes it prime as a starting place for a long night of bar hopping.

We really liked this place. We came here before dinner, great atmosphere and fantastic wine art on the walls. Wine tasting was fun, you put money on a card and go out and try any of the wines, all are 2 oz tastings. A lot of them were a little pricey but we found a reasonably priced ones that we really liked. If you aren't into wine they do have a full bar as well. Service was good and friendly. I would definitely come back and would recommend to others, especially if you like to taste different wines.

Alright I'll agree with you, it is a bit pretentious. But then again, what's wrong with that? It's a healthy alternate to Ikes and Jonsies or what's that Beaver bar. It's pricey, but the wines are pretty decent. I tried a Tempranillo called Spanish Quarter - and I'll dismiss two myths for you, one, it wasn't $99 a pour and two, it hadn't turned into vinegar sitting behind that fancy pouring system. I think the selling point is simple: convenience. It's a convenient place to sit or stand, solitaire (because it's in a hotel, and you're not the only one) or with people, drink wine or just grab a glass of beer. The food is alright, nothing to rave about; I have a thing about eating perched on a stool constantly being nudged by an alcohol blinded idiot on the side: I don't do it. So Tapas at Tastings doesn't work for me. I suppose sitting outside, where the real tables are, might work, but then again, you're in the middle of the side walk with everyone looking curiously into your plates. All in all, it's not terrible. But I wouldn't go there more than once a month, just like I wouldn't smell my own farts (Southpark reference).

After the Colts won Sunday night, my boyfriend and I ventured into Tastings. We walked by it numerous times and it was always filled with lots of people drinking wine, so we decided we would try it. I am so happy we did! At Tastings, you buy a card (like a debit card) and stick the card directly into pouring machines that will give you a taste, a glass or the server will get you a bottle. I loved this idea! Especially since my bf and I are on the opposite sides of red and whites when it comes to wine. The tasting prices depend on how much the bottle costs, so some tasting are on $2.50 for a $20 bottle and other tastings are $8 and a $60 bottle. It's really a great way to try a couple different wines. Pricewise, it is better to sample less and buy the bottle since they are at retail prices. If you buy 2 glasses, then that is as much (or sometimes more) then what the bottle would be. We ordered the Filet Mignon Pizza and Spicy Shrimp Skewers which both were delicious and a great tapas for us to share. On Sunday nights, they have live music. It was a perfect end to our wonderful trip and a Colts win! to sit at Tastings and listen to music as we drank our bottle of Gewurztraminer.

We stayed at the Conrad while in Indianapolis and had limited time. We really just felt like some wine and appetizers for dinner and this place was perfect. The bartender was very honest about the size and cost of the pours available, and the reasonable bottle prices. My husband and I put $20 on the card, tried about 4 wines, settled on a wine that we had never had, and then ordered the bottle. The appetizers were delicious and the wine went perfectly. The crowd was lively but not so loud you cannot have a private conversation. We definitely recommend Tastings, even if you are not a Conrad guest.

Love it. This is a great way to try wines that are way out of my price range. I have also enjoyed some of the small plates. Solid place.

Tastings is located in the Conrad hotel although it's not affiliated with it. It's been open about a month and is an interesting place. It's a wine bar with 120+ wines to taste. They use something called an "Enomatic Tasting Machine" for their wines. The machines preserve the condition of the open wines and allow for 2 oz tastes to be dispensed. When you arrive, the hostess directs you to the cashier where you tell them how much money you would like to put on the card you use in the machine. Once you have your card, you can sample over 100 wines with the push of a button. 2 oz tastes range in price from $2.50ish to over $30. Most are between $5 and $7. Tastings also has food. Many different options for small plates, tapas & cheese platters. All pair nicely with the wine offerings. We had a yummy cheese plate (we got to pick 4 cheeses) and a flatbread pizza. I will definitely go to Tastings again to try more wine and more food.

I do a lot of solo travel for business, and in the evenings I'm always looking for someplace that is not completely generic - that might call out whatever place I find myself as somehow different from every other place in the USA. Tastings qualifies. First, the basics: This is a tapas restaurant with a wine theme. In addition to your small plates (I had the artichoke flatbread pizza, tasty) you order a prepaid card. Said card allows you to purchase a 2oz pour of wine from the machines scattered throughout the restaurant. My server was very clear about the fact that three 2oz pours equaled the cost of a glass, but that the real bargain was to buy a bottle. They apparently sell "at market prices," and so basically they're a wine store with a good gimmick. I had samples of three different wines that are usually way out of my price range (confirming my theory that while such wines perhaps are a little smoother - they're certainly not worth a 10x markup). I will say that this is not a formal, sit-down restaurant for groups. It's a very open, spacious, casual (though dressy) bar. I sat on the sidewalk patio, between a group of dolled up women and a young gay couple getting to know each other. Infinitely better than yet another greasy meal at the bar at Friday's, but certainly not a peak dining experience.

I visited Tastings with a group of co-workers on a business trip to the city. I think the environment was great, encouraged socializing, neat artwork, and not to stuffy, but still classy. The best part was that my group decided to purchase the tasting cards, loaded with $20, and we were able to try about 4 -6 tastings of some of the best wine. I would never spend $100 on a bottle of wine being a younger professional, and this gave many of us the opportunity to explore a little. Also, the small plates/tapas offered were perfect and the staff was really great about recommending which wines to try with each plate. Fun experience and you could spend as little or as much money and time here and have an enjoyable experience.

While staying in the Conrad, I had searched out some nice places to check out while in Indianapolis for the Supercross. After the race, we walked back to the hotel, and decided to give this place a whirl with a couple friends. We were under-dressed to say the least, but were welcomed with open arms by the servers and very well taken care of. I was very pleased with the service for somewhere that is semi- "self serve". We got some good wine recommendations, and ended up ordering a cheese plate with a few different cheeses for the wine. We sampled a lot of different wines, and had a great time. There are some great wines to sample, and the fact that you can get bottles for market price and have them corked / chilled at your table and enjoy them there is great. Staff was very friendly, courteous, and helpful which was greatly appreciated. We had a great time, and I've already recommended this place to friends and family both in the Indianapolis area.

My BFF and I recently went mid week to check out this place. It was very nice, calm and peaceful. We were not pressured to get the 'wine card' ( a card you put money on to get 2oz of wine samples), we did try 2 sample shots at around 2.50 each before getting full glasses of them. We went on a Tuesday and it was 1/2 price glasses, not sure if that was a regular thing or if it was just because they had a special event before we went in.. If you plan on going I would eat some where else the food is good, but very very small and pricy. We had a antipasto pizza 12$ and it was about 12inchs diameter, it was very good but not a meal. We also went a ahead and split a dessert, 9$ for something half the size of a twinky with just about the same taste. Huge let down on that part. Staff was ok, our waitress was busy on the computer and we kept having to flag down other people including the manager for help. We will go back, just not eat there. nice change to the downtown scene.

I am NOT a whino, winer, sommelier, or whatever wine aficianados call themselves. My wine tastes have went from ugh, how can you drink that swill, to wow thats freaking AWESOME; just in the last few years. Get a card, put some money on it, start tasting. We got there right before the place got PACKED, and sampled enough to find 4 we really liked. My sister had brought me a bottle for thanksgiving several years i loved, and we have tried to remember what it was ever since. I called her in desperation, and she told me it was an unoaked chardonnay from New Zealand. I relayed this to our waiter, he walked to the sampler, looked, returned and said..."try K3." And I did. Awesome. Kunde Estate 2007 Sonoma Valley. and the price was reasonable. walked away with 2 bottles to round out a few reds i liked. We were hungry a few glasses in and ordered the mediterrean dip appetizer. Very good. We sat at the bar and watched the cooks preparing the meals. Overall a very neat concept and for an amateur a good way to figure out what one likes and dislikes. I will be back. (go during the week, when hopefully its not as busy)

If you love wine and lovely people give this a try. For two people put $20 on a card and try a couple of well thought out glasses each. Don't be shy asking the amazing staff for recommendations based on your tastes. Then buy a bottle at MARKET PRICE with a delicious cheese plate and a filet mignon pizza. We added a chilled white with a rich chocolate cake for desert. All-in-all a wonderful experience with really friendly people. For 2 wine tastings each + 2 bottles + a cheese plate, a filet pizza and an incredible desert we ended up at around $150 bucks (including a decent tip). you could do it for less but it was an exceptional night out for that price. We highly recommend it.

Crowded, noisy, and I didn't think $6-7 per couple of sips of mediocre wine was a good deal. IF I go back, I'll go on a weeknight (maybe less crowded & echo-y) and split a bottle.

When I visited INDY for the first time to celebrate my brother's last week in the US before shipping off for the military. We visited this place LITERALLY all 7 days. Found it on the first day after having a hell of a time finding anything worth doing. These people know customer service. Go to one of their wine tastings, they serve plentifully and with some of the best food ever. Say hi to the manager for me and clifford. Also try the mascoto if you like sweet. Love their entrees. The decor is AWESOME. I wish they had one of these places in EVERY city in the country.

This is the perfect spot for a wine learning experience without the intimidation of wine store snobs. It's agreat aopportnity to explore different wines on yor own, without any prodding from sales associates, etc. The servers and bartenders are super friendly too! Get a wine tasting card and explore on your own! The appetizers are also a great complement to the wine.

We are wine enthusiasts so had to try this place out on our trip through Indy. This is no all- you-can-eat buffet, but the food was tasty and somewhat eclectic. We tried 5 different items each pleasingly plated. As for wine, many great wines at varying price points and an option for buying tastings of your own choosing. We were glad we stopped in and gave it a try!

Tastings is a pretty good place to grab a glass or tasting of wine and relax. The food is okay, nothing special but can will hit the spot if you are hungry. However, the service is absolutely terrible! My significant other and I went there this evening for wine and dinner. We order wine and 2 dishes. An hour later and several glasses of wine, still no food, even though people who had come in 30 minutes after us were already finishing their meals. The waitress, Kierra, who is hands down the worst server I have experienced, made up some lie about giving our food away. The food finally came 30 minutes later, a cheese plate and entree. The cheese plate came with 10 small crackers for 4 different cheeses, which would barely cover 1 cheese, let alone 4. It took me another 15 minutes to get her attention, during this time she actively avoided us. Finally, we got more crackers, but she charged us for the addition crackers, $2. Never once did we get an apology for the late food or the, what is an understatement, terrible service. I understand being busy, but to completely disregard a customer is beyond me. Hopefully Tastings fires this unfortunately person because we would like to go back.

In town for the weekend and we had a great time tasting all different kinds of wine and prices. The atmosphere was enjoyable and the staff were eager to assist. Be sure to ask for water and crackers if tasting many wines. We could have spent several hours there in couches or comfortable bar stools. Great place for people watching as well+ Good for Indy to have such a top-notch place.

The first time I visited this establishment was with a wedding party so there were about 10 of us. Even though it was a Friday night, we were immediately seated inside. We all decided that buying a few bottles of our favorite wines was the best option for us. After a short time we asked the waitress if we could be moved to the patio and she was very accommodating. She put some tables together and moved all or drinks outside without hesitation. The patio was perfect for our somewhat rowdy group and the waitress made sure to check up on us frequently. The second time I came here was on a date night. Again, we were immediately greeted and told to sit wherever we wanted. The waitress told us that loading our drink card up with about $25 was a good start so we agreed on $35. We each got about 3 2oz glasses of wine with that $35 which isn't much but we weren't there to get drunk. We also ordered a cheese plate sampler and crab dip which were both delicious. The ambiance was very relaxing and parfect for a date. I can't wait to come back here again!

I treated my husband to Indy for a 24 hour trip & decided to spend some time here. When we walked we were immediately greeted and encouraged to sit wherever we wanted. Once our waitress came to our table we told her she we'd never been and she did a great job explaining the concept. After going through the menu we decided to just buy a bottle of wine instead of doing tastings. We had a bottle of moscato which was great and my husband's favorite. We ordered the margarita pizza and cheese plate. Both were great! I especially loved the cheese plate because you get to choose which 2, 4, 8 cheeses/etc you want. We chose Asiago and salami. It came with a triangle block of Asiago, salami, a small bowl of grapes & bread pieces that were toasted, warm and so good!! Yum!! The decor in the restaurant was inviting and trendy. If we're ever in Indy again we would go back!

Tastings is a great idea for someone like me who needs to actually try a wine before committing to it. You place money on a card and taste to your little hearts content! I would not, however pass on their food. They have cheese plate, flatbreads, etc... to complement your tastings. Find a wine that you like, you can purchase a goes or a bottle very easily. The best part is on Sundays, you can get your bottle for half price! Great little gem hidden inside the Conrad. They even have outdoor seating. I would highly recommend you try a taste of Tastings!

We had a late lunch so wasn't super hungry. We didn't feel like walking too far so decided to grab a bite just inside our hotel. Filet minion flatbread pizza and sesame encrusted tuna with wasabi were very good. Unfortunately, we did not do the wine tasting since it required us to purchase a pre-loaded card and all wine pricing is not flat. So, it's hard to predict how much to put on the card. Otherwise, this place has great quick bites...

We had the baked crab dip, shrimp Ceviche, & BBQ chicken pizza. All were excellent. Our server Jessica offered fabulous advice on menu items, wine suggestions, and cocktail drinks. Loved the art displayed throughout the room. Overall, a very lovely experience.

It had been awhile since my last Tastings visit, but this past Friday night a friend and I decided to grab a glass of wine and some light appetizers after seeing a show at the IRT. Given that it was pretty late in the evening, I wasn't up for the whole tasting card scene (you load up a card with a certain number of dollars and taste to your heart's desire at dozens of computerized wine stations). In fact, I wasn't really craving a drink but I felt slightly obligated (hence my decision to go with the cheapest red on the menu $7.50 - it tasted slightly cheap but you get what you pay for, right?). As for the apps, we had the prosciutto wrapped figs with cheese and bruschetta. I enjoyed my figs but wished they were a little larger to match the price. I would order them again. *Typically I go for the cheese board ;) You rarely lose with a cheese board. Why four stars and not five? We found ourself with a dud waitress - she was slightly aggressive and seemed miffed when we weren't ready to order. We appreciated the friendly and proactive gentleman working behind the horseshoe-shaped bar.

I love the concept of Tastings. You get to preload a card with money and then choose the wines that you want to sample. Each of the wines in the machines come with a description of its flavors. I think the cheapest sample was about $2.50 but I don't remember what the most expensive was. Their website states that there are more than 100 wines to taste but I didn't personally count them myself. Some wines aren't available by the glass and some aren't available to sample in the machines. I think the wines were organized by Pinot Noir, Italy, Spain, France, Eclectic Reds, Aromatic Whites, Enticing Whites, and Cabernet Sauvignon. When we first arrived, we were told that it was open seating. So we chose a seat and weren't really sure what to do. We had to ask the chef(?) for a menu before our server came over to help us. But after that, service was pretty good and attentive. The food came out really quickly. We didn't try any of the cheese plates but the Crab Dip and the BBQ Chicken Flatbread Pizza were both very good. I would consider them 'light meals'. The Crab Dip was very creamy and slightly spicy. The BBQ Chicken Pizza was pretty sweet from the BBQ sauce and the chicken chunks were pretty big. Overall, this would be a great place to relax with friends and enjoy some wine.

This place had a really neat concept and cool ambiance for wine tasting. They have different stations where you can browse a variety of wines and use a prepaid card to try 2 oz samples of the ones you want to. I like the idea, however, it was a bit pricey! The set up is neat, and probably pretty costly for them to maintain as a restaurant. Service was not great. We went in at a weird time around 3:45pm and there weren't many people in there, but there were about 5 staff working and they all were just talking to each other and seemed to be gossiping with one person at the bar. We waited a while for them to serve us and ended up having to go up to the bar to order. Also, we ordered a cheese plate and ran out of bread, asked for more and were a little disappointed they charged us for a whole 2nd plate of bread. Overall, this is a neat concept for a wine bar, but with a few small changes in service and price it would be even better in my book!

  • Amy T.

Service was really good! They did accidentally give us the wrong cheese but they corrected it right away (in the end we got 2 St. André cheeses, NOT complaining haha).Their cheese selection was on point though. :) Selection of wine was nice, you can either order by the bottle/glass OR...you can load a card up with money and do 2 oz. tasters of whatever is in the room. I fell in love with the Ochetti from Renato Ratti so I kept ordering that. My favorite dish was the jumbo lump crab cakes and then the fillet mignon skewers. DELICIOUS! If you are in the area, this is a MUST TRY!

Cozy and convenient wine tasting bar, located downtown. I went here during a conference in March 2014 and was very pleased with the food and wine specials.

We were staying at the Conrad and stopped in before heading out for dinner. Cool concept but way too expensive. I was also disappointed that they did not offer any type of crackers to cleanse your palate between tastings. I asked the waitress about it and she offered to bring out some bread slices, which we were charged for! My SO and I each tasted a few wines, ordered one glass each...our bill with the overpriced bread came to almost $100. Way too much for a pre-dinner experience. Service was about average.

Wow- did we ever hit the jackpot going to Tastings on our trip to Indianapolis this past weekend. Amazing atmosphere, service, food and of course wine selection. My husband and I had tickets to Monday Night football at Lucas Oil Stadium, so we decided to go stay a couple of nights in downtown Indy. Tastings- A Wine Experience was just a couple of blocks from our hotel and I had read great reviews from other Yelpers. The location was very inviting on this sunny Sunday afternoon. Music playing, doors open, cute patio in the front and side. We took a seat outside and the server graciously told us it was half price bottles of wine all day and night. Yay!! Since this included chamapagne and sparkling wine, we selected a nice French Sparkling (only $12) The server explained to us how the wine tasting worked too just in case we decided to go that route later. They have a huge wine selection and you load whatever dollar amount you would like on a card- then go around to the difference wine dispensers and taste. The menu had a good selection of cheese, salads, flatbreads, etc. I ordered the fig, goat cheese, proscuitto flatbread drizzled with balsamic onions and toasted walnuts. Absolutely amazing flavors. The hubby ordered a chicken pesto flatbread that was also great- but not as delicious as mine. Our server was friendly and attentive. After we finished our food, we wanted to move inside to the bar area to watch football and she continue to be our server. We order a bottle of red wine for $13. Outstanding. We will be back for sure!

Loved this place! My husband and I are visiting from Arizona and stopped here last night for some snacks and drinks. We sat on the patio which is so much fun, you get to people watch. Our server was great she was knowledgable and had lots of suggestions. We had a cheese platter, OMG so delicious. Then after we ate we did their wine tasting. they give you a card that you put money on and you stick it into the machine and choose what wine you want to try. It pours out 2 oz and charges your card for the "tasting" such a fun idea! We had a great time, smoked cigars on the patio and bought a few bottles of wine. Highly recommend this place and I would love to return one day.

Close call between 4 and 5 stars for me, but when in doubt gotta keep the fifth star in the back pocket and leave room for improvement. Came on a Thursday not knowing that it was a great night to visit - half priced flatbreads. We ended up doing a cheese plate and sharing two flatbreads - one with Filet and another BBQ Chicken. Both were really great and an awesome deal at 50% off, and the cheeses were really good as well. The set-up with the pay per pour was really convenient as well - plenty of options if you want to splurge and try an expensive bottle or sample the cheaper options of different types. Service was really great and there's a cool, classy vibe.

Can you say Holy Cheese?! (See attached picture) I went to this place after a yoga event and the wine was wonderful, the cheese plate was out of this world, and the service was amazing!

I was excited to eat here and happy it was open late, but... The Sauvignon Blanc showed up way too warm, the chicken skewers were over cooked and dry, though I liked the peanut sauce, the shrimp ceviche had zero citrus and all the salt an ocean could envy, the sesame crusted tuna was well cooked but the sauce was literally a small bowl of soybean oil. Basically, crap. For like $70. My lady didn't want me to make a stink, so I paid without complaining. But she agreed with everything I just said. I mean... I shoulda gone to Old Point and had better food and spent less. And had a comfortable chair outside? Who stole the cushions from their outside furniture? So annoyed. The service was great. The food and wine sucked.

This place really is THE wine experience! It reminds me of being at a more sophisticated Dave & Busters, as you load your card with whatever amount you choose and then you put it in the machine and play! There is such a wide variety of wines that are distributed 2oz at a time, each costs something different. The price range is around $4-$20 or maybe higher. It also tells you the price of a bottle. There are several machines, the manager said they came from Italy. I recall her saying they cost in the neighborhood of $30-40K. I want one in my house someday! This is a very unique destination in Indianapolis and I am so glad we stopped in!

Great fun way to experience different wines! This is perfect for almost any occasion or night of the week. The staff is extremely friendly and the sommeliers are very knowledgeable. It caters to different tastes and different price points. Not a fan of wine? They have a bar! I do suggest to do dinner elsewhere, even though they serve heavy app options they aren't the highlight of the experience. Fun time, great place to relax, and try a couple of new things without feeling committed to buy/drink an entire bottle.

My experience at Tastings was top of the line service from beginning to end. Our server and bartender Johnny and Karen provided us with excellent service as we conducted our wine tasting during the evening hours. They provided great knowledge in regards to questions about the wine and dinner menu. The manager Lindsay was very hands on with the staff and the customers during our entire stay. She was friendly and helpful in assisting us with questions as well. The flat bread pizzas and spinach dip are excellent! I enjoyed the wine tasting experience as there is a vast selection to choose from. Half price bottles of wine and live music on Sundays starting at 6:00-6:30pm!

You can look like you're ballin' even on a budget! Who doesn't love a good wine rush?! Ok, who doesn't love wine, friends, luxe, and maybe even some nice fair for a very reasonable price? I've gone to tastings 4 or 5 times, and I absolutely love it here. The staff is friendly, charming, and inviting. I had a short pop quiz for Josh(?) who was a ray of sunshine. I asked about a few whites, for a friend, and he was more than knowledgable about taste/region/vintage. The atmosphere is hip. Eager to have you chatting with friends or a sweet talk with a date over the modern music selection. The wine is flowing freely, and you can have as little or as much as you want. You put a dollar amount of your choice on your Tastings card. Then, find your favorite or new favorite wine and get your swagger on. They also have full bottles for you to enjoy, as well as small plates to share. Go anytime the mood strikes. Tastings is open a little later on the weekends, however I suggest late evening. There's a rush hour buzz in the air that goes nicely with wine at 6pm. Wear something business casual sexy, and relax into some conversation or take in the artwork along the walls of the Conrad. You are going to love this place. A wonderful intro into the finer taste of life. "Treat yo' self!"

I have been to Tastings multiple times and each time it gets better. The wine selection is huge and varied. Even a sparkling shiraz that I highly suggest trying! The outdoor patios are great areas to relax and watch the hustle and bustle of downtown. There are also cheese plates, flatbread pizzas, and other various foods to try with your wine. Everything I have had has been fantastic!

Been looking forward to coming here for a while and it did not disappoint. Came here by myself and felt comfortable. Brought my Wine Bible (since I'm studying for my level 1 sommelier test) and was ready to taste a bunch of wines. There's open seating, so just choose your seat. And a server will come over to you. I loaded $30 on my tasting card-- they will inform you if you're unfamiliar-- and it was plenty. I asked for an extra glass so I could do some comparative tasting. Prices range from $3 to $11 a taste, depending on what you choose. My favorite was a 2010 Chateau Lafite-Rothschild from Paulliac and that was $11 for a taste, but totally worth it. They have a great selection of wine, especially for tasting. I also had a Margherita flatbread pizza which was tasty. Service was great, very attentive and informative. I was there for almost two hours just tasting and studying. Can't wait to come back!

Can't say enough about this place!! My husband and my experience was fun, informative, unique and tasty! The service was helpful and superb and I walked out with a fab bottle of wine to enjoy in our room at the Marriott. I would almost relocate to Indianapolis just to frequent here again and again.

This is a neat place to unwind after a long day. The vibe is very relaxing and the service is fantastic. We arrived around 10pm on a Saturday night expecting the place to be really busy. But due to the Colts/Patriots playoff game it wasn't. We grabbed 4 seats at the back bar and proceeded with our evening. This is only my second time ever being in this location before and I was happy to see a full bar especially since I am not a wine drinker. The service at the bar was exceptional and they were able to make whatever I wanted. Jonathon was behind the bar and he makes a fabulous Cosmopolitan! During the course of the evening there was wait staff that stopped by and made sure we were doing alright. The only negative that I have to share, even though it isn't really a negative, is the prices at the bar. I ordered 2 drinks, and a friend put their drink on my tab... the total was $34.00. A Bacardi & Coke was $9.50!!! I expected a higher tab due to the fact that I had a Cosmo, but that was way more than I was expecting. Again, this isn't really a negative, but if you're on a tight budget this is not the place for you to grab drinks with a friend. If you are looking for a sophisticated lounge to chill and have a few drinks, then this is right up your alley. I definitely will return for another fun filled, sophisticated "gay" night out!

Hubs and I were looking for some downtime after being in Indy for a conference and after spending a few hours running around the city, we spotting Tastings and thought it would be the perfect place to grab some vino, sit outside, and people watch. We were not disappointed. We were able to sit outside at one of the tall tables on a 75 degree day. Cannot beat that! Our server came over and discussed some wines with us. I grabbed a vino verde while hubs started with a local beer. After our second round, our server changed. No biggie, but then on our third round, our server changed again. That is really my only reason for the deduction of star. It started making us feel as though they didn't want us hanging around, but we did anyway. There were tons of passerbys and it is in a great location downtown, near the shopping area so you can take in the city in all it's grandeur while sitting and enjoying some vino.

This was the perfect place to hold a cocktail reception. There was plenty of room for our group to socialize. The wine selection was really good. I fell in love with the Bodegas Malbec from Argentina! You have the ability to fill a Tastings Card and go around the bar sampling the wine. We did not do that, as we had a big group drinking different things. The finger foods are amazing. All the flat breads were addicting. It was a great place to unwind after meetings all day or have a drink while watching the game. They had well positioned TV for everyone to watch their team during March Madness.

I've been here for both a Yelp event and a family even with my parents to celebrate some graduation awesomeness. I absolutely love the whole concept of Tastings. I mean who doesn't want to go through multiple two ounce tastes of a whole bunch of different wines. I love finding bottles that really speak to me. I am an equal opportunity wine drinker so I run the whole gambit from reds to wines. I will say that they have more reds than whites but I think enough of each to satisfy any wine drinker from seasoned expert to first time taster. The whole place seems swanky and the servers are attentive and helpful. So who wants to go for a tasting course on Wednesdays??

Awesome place!!!! Service and Managment is fantastic! Only intended to fill my card once but ended up refilling it 3 additional times. Which gets me to my next point... The wine selection paired with the staff recommendations were spot on... Molly, I would marry just because of out identical taste in wine and her ravishing good looks. As for service Lindsay and Kim were gems, beautiful and sweet as pie. Anyone who enjoys wine, good food and great company go! Thank you

While the wine selection was pretty darn good, the food was mediocre. I ordered a flatbread pizza (the Napa Valley) and it was very good. I also ordered the prociutto wrapped figs with blue cheese and walnuts, and was disappointed. I have had this appetizer before and it can be done so well, but my app had unfortunately spent too much time under the heat lamp. It would also have been great if they were able to use fresh figs, but I understand that it is difficult to find those. I would return if part of a larger group, but I came in alone, and wouldn't do that again. On a side note, the service was fantastic, and the live music was also great! Cool atmosphere for groups.

Pros: Great selection (you'll find more reds than whites), an opportunity to try several different wines, upscale atmosphere, reasonable bottle prices, yummy food Cons: Service could be improved It may be me, but one of the biggest turnoffs of a bar/restaurant is a confusing seating situations. Tastings is "seat yourself" but there isn't a sign or employee to let you know that. My girlfriends and I stood waiting for a bit before we flagged down a server to inquire about seating. However, by that point at least three servers had passed us waiting by the door without letting us know we could seat ourselves. Maybe it is just me, but that gets to me. Tastings has tons of wines to sample. You can do it a few different ways: purchasing a bottle, purchasing wine by the glass, or using a loaded debit type card to purchase 2 oz samples of a variety of wine. The 2 oz samples range from $2-20, so you can make your money last as long as you want. I decided to skip the card and samples, and simply purchased a bottle of moscato to drink. I was impressed with their selection, and there is something for everyone. The sophisticated wino and the novice Barefoot drinker will find something suitable to drink. My group ordered a few of their flatbread pizzas, and everyone was happy with the food. I'd recommend sharing a few apps will sipping on your wine. You won't leave disappointed!

Wow, what an impressive set up. Now granted we are not what you would call "wine experts" but we have an idea as to what we want! It was 4 of us with a taste for something better than your $7.99 bottle of wine! The bottle selection is great, they have a taste for everyone! Tour Europe, Napa Valley and some of Italy's finest. I had the Merlot and it was splendid! God was it amazing! I recommend you go there and try it, at least once. I am glad I did. Great service, great selection, great atmosphere.

My wife and I stopped by Tastings for....well, a tasting...of wine(s). We also had a small appetizer of cheese and fruit. We've been here before and always enjoy the atmosphere and the staff. If you like wine or want to be able to try a bunch of different wines to see what you do like then stop in for a taste. You won't be disappointed!

This place was really great! I attended a private event here with food and drinks. Although the white wines form the dispenser were not super cold, the bartender was amazing and consulted me on champagne. Service was spectacular and the owner was there walking around. I just love the atmosphere here.

Even though I live and work downtown, I don't make it to Tastings enough. Reasons I go......performing arts events downtown, DMB at the Conrad for the weekend or special events at Tastings. First off, this fun place is attached to the Conrad, so if you are staying at the hotel, definitely check it out. The concept of Tastings is being able to sample multiple wines. Maybe there are a few expensive wines that you don't want to drop a chunk of change on a glass or a bottle for, but just want to sample it?? Tastings is your opportunity to do so. They have several wine sampling rounds/tables near the bar area and from what I understand, you put money on a plastic card, then swipe it for samples. Whatever your sample costs, it is deducted from the balance on your card. I haven't ever tried the sampling, unfortunately. What I love about Tastings......1) Their outside seating. It is situated right on a quadrant under the Artsgarden of Circle Centre Mall. If you want to people watch, this is your place to do it. 2) Half priced Flatbreads on Thursday nights. They are super yummy and it is a GREAT deal! 3) Wednesday night wine tastings with food pairings. Seating is limited, but for $25-30, you can make a reservation and get a group of friends together, seat up to the rounded bar at 6 or 8pm and have a ball tasting wines and small bites. 4) Half priced bottles of wine and sometimes, live music on Sundays. Also, little did I know, they also have $5 mimosas and DIY bloody mary bar on Sundays! I will definitely be checking that out soon! For more details on the Wednesday/Sunday events, here is a link to upcoming FUN stuff! myemail.constantcontact.… Love you, Tastings and THANK YOU for having Dreaming Tree wine and playing a little DMB while we were on the patio for DMB weekend. You rock!

After a failed attempt to kill all of the time before meeting my parents for dinner, the wife and I spent the remaining few minutes over wine at Tastings - A Wine Experience. Described as a wine bar and bistro, Tastings looked to be a classy, spacious spot with plenty of al fresco wining/dining space. Although we didn't have any food, the menu appeared to have some nice small plate food options available. We definitely caught the aroma of flatbreads baking that smelled delicious. Tastings also offered full bar service with an interesting cocktail list, but we were in the mood for wine. Most important to us on this visit, though, was the selection of wines served 1 ounce at a time from dispensers dispersed around the large wine bar/dining room. Basically, you get a "debit" card, put a set dollar amount of value on the card, and then use it at the tasting stations to pay for 1 oz. tastings of wine, dispensed automatically. The wines available for tasting were separated by red or white, and further broken down by country/region, varietal, etc. While I understand the reasons for not doing it, I would've liked to see at least one "bucket list" type wine being dispensed via its tasting stations. Regardless, I love wine bars that offer this high-tech tasting room experience. While it may be much more impersonal as it is self-serve and puts the onus on you to choose wisely instead of tapping the bartender or sommelier for a recommendation, it offers you the ability to taste a lot of different wines, some of which you may not be able to find by the glass, or wines you may not want to pay for a bottle or for a full 4-6 oz pour. I tried a couple of different, delicious reds, which cost less than $10 for the two tastes. I'm not sure if there's any other wine bars like this downtown, let alone anywhere else in the Indianapolis metro area, but Tastings was a winner in my book and a place I'm sure the wife and I will return.

I love this place! You can buy samples from the dispensers or order by the glass or bottle. It's a great way to try different wines. The food is pretty tasty too! We had the tuna and cheese, salami, and prosciutto. The cheese plates come with crackers, apples and grapes. In town for a conference and we checked it out last night and enjoyed it so much that we went back today. They were closing for private party so we had some wine and cheese and left. Both times the service was great! Such a neat concept and I wish we had something like this in Birmingham!

Visited this fun & cozy wine bar during recent conference in downtown Indy. Excellent selection of eclectic, California, French, Italian, Austrian, German, Chilean, Argentinian wines by the taste or by the glass with a helpful "library" guide to each wine & its features. Best wine "book" and guide I've ever seen in a tasting room like this. Reasonable prices (spend as much or as little as you like with your wine card), comfy couches or bar chairs/tables, friendly staff, chipper crowd, and small plates of food to top it all off. Highly recommend if you're in the area -- holds its own with my favorite wine bars in Calif. -- whether you're traveling alone or with a group, you can't go wrong with this gem...also looks as if a few famous people have stopped in by the photos in the foyer!

"It's like an adult candy store" my friend remarked and he was spot on. You load up a card with money and then you take your glass and get 2 ounce tastings from each wine dispenser located all around the bar. Its a really fantastic concept -- of course, when you do the math, you realize that they're making a LOT of money on each bottle. Assuming a bottle of wine is 24 ounces and you can buy each 2 oz pour for $3 or the bottle for $18... it makes a lot more sense to just buy the bottle. Instead of spending $72 for your "tastings." Thankfully I have friends who are good at math so we figured that out early on. Here's a protip: If you've tasted a couple of wines with your card... you can then put that card to good use on anything. If you're not feeling wine, you can use it to buy booze. If you want a bottle, you can put it towards that. It works just like a gift card to the restaurant. And though I didn't try a lot of the food, the consensus was don't get the tuna, do get the hummus.

They charge for tastings ...that's their new "concept" every wine bar in the world allows u to taste wine without charge it's like going to restaurant that charge u to use restroom no one does it but one place ....

I could not have been more impressed with the superb level of customer service that I received at Tastings. The décor and low lighting creates the perfect atmosphere for winding down at the end of the day (or for impressing your hot date). They have an incredible selection of wines accompanied by a well-educated staff to walk the non-wine connoisseur through their selections. I am not a wine drinker, so I had a glass of scotch (Macallan 18). I will definitely return!

I do love tastings, this last time I was there I was there for the 1/2 priced house wines. Which are still 100 times better than anything you will get anywhere else. I guess I take atmosphere into consideration perhaps even more than anything else when choosing a restaurant. This is yet again, one of my favorites. I love the option to sit at a high top or at the couches. Its a great place to go with friends or a date. An intimate atmosphere promotes classy mannerism and intellectual conversation. Definitely in one of my top five favorite high end bars in the city. I love the activity of tasting the wines and choosing a favorite, allows you to be adventurous in the smallest of ways. If you are looking for something different and looking to experience something fun, I would recommend Tastings as a definite priority when you come into town

  • Whitnie E.

This place is such a great concept. You load a card with however much money you want to spend, and when you find a wine you want to taste, you simply put your card in the reader and dispense your taste. It is nice to get to try a couple different wines in the same variety and some wines that maybe are new to you. You are in control of how much you spend (all the tastings are labeled with how much they cost, and the reader automatically subtracts that amount). If you find a wine you really like, you can also apply the balance on your card towards the purchase of a bottle of it. If you do a lot of tastes only, it can add up (tastes ran anywhere from $2.40 - $8+). But, it is really the experience you are paying for. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has people coming from out of town as it is a fun thing to go out and do. I would definitely love to come back and try some more wines!

Oh-em-gee! How have I not been here before this summer!?! I really, really enjoy Tastings. I'm a big fan of the vino, but not a big fan of paying out the wazoo for a bottle (or glass for that matter). Enter, Tastings: the place to go to drink wine by the bottle on the cheap. So here's the thing. They sell the bottles at 'retail' prices, which means that you can buy a decent bottle for around $20. This is definitely the way to go unless you're really set on sampling and trying a whole bunch of things. To do that, you buy a swipe card and walk around to get your own samples and pay by the 2 oz pour. Again, I recommend the bottles as the server types come to you (less worky, more drinky). :) Bonus: their food is good, too! We had a cheese plate (4 kinds of cheese) and the Mediterranean sampler (think hummus, bruschetta). The only bummer was that I asked for more little toasts for the cheese and we were upcharged $1.50. Really, a buck fifty for some crackers? My advice, just eat the cheese by itself. The service can run a bit slow, too. It took a bit for our gal to bring us the check and then come back for the cards, but I assume it all depends on how busy they are. My wine-induced joy was willing to overlook the slowness. Cheers!

Upscale atmosphere without the upscale attentiveness. I love the concept of this place, but the layout is very funky with extremely limited seating. Our girls night out started early enough for one in our group to grab a seating area of two leather loveseats in the corner for the 5 of us. Before I go any further - I must suggest you NOT sit here, as you'll be slumped over and uncomfortable. Go for the red club chairs if not the bar seats (not appropriate for our group). With that out of the way, I did enjoy the wines that I tried, probably moreso due to the fact that although you must pay for a 'debit' card to get your pours, at least the balance came back to you (how many Jillian's cards with a balance did I have left somewhere before they closed??). The price points were well balanced, not making it unreasonable for you to have a few quality sips. The food looked and smelled divine, and I would have tried their menu had we not made dinner reservations elsewhere. Overall, I'd say, yes - do try it. Bring a date here EARLY, before dinner somewhere. Late arrivals will not get a seat, so keep that in mind. Be prepared to ask for instructions because it's not intuitive, and unless you're at a seated area, nobody will seek you out to assist.

I found tastings via a 4* yelp review and was looking forward to creative tapas and rare cheeses to go with a nice deep glass of wine I sat on the patio, order a wine I'd never heard of, and shared a cheese platter, crab dip, and red pepper hummus with a coworker. The wine was good, tons of selection. Service was super super slow and wasn't visited by the server for 20 minutes after menus were dropped off Cheese plate was uninspired. Anyone can cut a wedge of cheese and put it on a plate. Show me some creativity with pairings! Cheap toast crackers, 3 slices of apple, and 8 grapes. Come on. The cheeses were not outstanding. I tried 4. Costco quality. Crab dip was decadent and delicious, I recommend that definitely. Hummus was decent, mostly tahini, so very creamy and not heavy on the red pepper. Server disappeared after dropping off plates, never to be seen again. Literally. I had to ask someone else for the bill while the manager flirted with the bartender nearby. But the musical entertainment was lively on a Sunday evening and the wine selection was good and affordable, so you get a 3, Tastings. Go here if you want to eat basic cheeses and leave a small tip.

We went to Tastings and split a couple of bottles of wine among friends. We sat outside and got the cheese plate. They have multiple price points of wine. The waitress helped us pick out a couple of bottles that were on the less expensive side but were still great. The point of tastings is to load a card with money and then try different samples of wine. Don't do that unless you are set on it. Sit and enjoy wine and some appetizers with your friends instead. You won't regret it.

Schmancy! We spent a long weekend in Indy for a friend's wedding, and most of the bridal families and some of the party stayed at the Conrad (WAY schmancy) so we spent a couple of nights at Tastings hanging out. The set-up is interesting, you can pre-load a card with money and then go around getting tastes of 100+ different wines. The prices are on everything, but be aware that you're getting a 2 oz tasting portion, not a full pour. You'll have to keep pressing the button if you want more. You can also order wine by the glass or bottle off the menu, or get a cocktail or beer from behind the bar. The whole wine tasting idea is cool, but if you're left with less than $2.50 on your card, you'll have to go add a little more to get another tasting -- or ask them for a refund, maybe? I'm not sure how it works. They also have a menu of little bites and light dinner options. I nibbled on a triangle of margherita flatbread, and it was pretty tasty. Service was pretty good, the atmosphere is sleek and sophisticated ... if you're really into wine, it seems like a great option for a fancy night out. I suggest classing it up a bit in the clothing department; no raggedy t-shirts or yoga pants please!

Here for the Haras De Pirque event. Had a small plates wine tasting that lasted about two hours and was perfect. Huge bang for the buck. Wines were great, food was great, service was great couldn't have asked for more. The chef's putting the food together stopped what they were doing and went out of their way to help us when my friend dropped her fork.

Love it great concept very good food.. Oddly, even though there was lots of wine.. I have to say I wish there was more wine. I love variety and trying the non standard selections out there. They have a few of those but a lot more of the basics Merlot, cab, pinot, etc... Also I think it's a great non committal way for new and experienced wine drinkers tasting a variety of wines that they may have not tried before.

Tastings is reeeeally...kinda OK. Definitely give it a taste (...rimshot?). Anyway, the good: you can sample all sorts of delicious varieties of wines while maintaining complete control of your wallet and pace. It's a great way to sample a $50+ wine w/o committing to the entire bottle. Their food isn't bad either--and they do have daily specials. The not-so-good: "small" doesn't always mean "intimate". The space is rather loud and slightly awkward. I've not had trouble finding a space, but I wasn't here during a "pre- or post-dinner drink" rush; I can imagine that space fills quickly. Again, all in all, give it a shot.

Great cheese board. Chill atmosphere. I actually had lunch here during a conference and it was perfect treat and break to get work done and relax a little.

From the outside, Tastings seems like it is upscale and out of reach for us regular folks. The ambience is set in that way as it is connected to the Conrad, but if you are looking for full bottles of wine and maybe a nice cheese plate, the prices and selection are set for just about everyone. They seem to make their money off the card driven sample machines. The prices for those machine samples are going to be on the high side. I have never been drawn into them. However, their bottle prices are really good. There is really barely a markup on bottles. The main con for Tastings tends to be their service. Service is really hit or miss. You could go there, busy or not, and get a server that is very attentive and knowledgeable, or have a server that you almost have to beg to bring you more wine. If you go into it knowing that you should order your next bottle before the first runs out, it won't be too bad. The service is not miserable, it can just be a little slow. So remember, you're probably on a fancy date. Have some patience and plan your orders and you're good to go.

Such a fun little place! Load your card and sample the fabulous varieties of wines offered. I mean, how often do you get to try a $100+ wine for a small fraction of the cost? And the small plates are excellent as well. Great for girls' night!

I wanted a nice place to have a decent glass of wine. Happened upon this place (ok I used Yelp to help :)) and sooo glad I stopped! Great wine list and fun cheeses/starters. Outdoor seating was a plus on this beautiful day. I will definitely be back when I'm in town!

Overall you're probably better just buying a bottle of wine here, but what's the fun in that. Load up your card with some dinero and have at it... really fun idea and a great way to try a bunch of wines. Also, the food is amazing... we had the flatbread with filet mignon and caramelized onions and the prosciutto wrapped dates... anything wrapped in bacon (or fancy bacon), i'm gonna order. Go and have a fun night out there.

This is a wine bar, with a little added thing that makes it great... Normally you have a menu and you choose your wine, a waiter comes and serves you. Here you also have a wine menu from which you choose, but then it differs... You get a glass, and then there are several tables where wine dispensers have been installed, and are ordered depending on regions or grapes. You get a card on which you load a certain amount, you insert it in the chosen dispenser and press on the button above your wine bottle... Don't forget to put your glass under the nozzle ;-) So you get yourself to choose the wines you want to taste by walking around all their bottles, reading the descriptions, and reading some of the recommendations from their staff. I guess you can also ask their staff to serve you but not sure about that. All this is to be complemented by some nice nibbles to eat like cheese or other tapas :-)

Delicious wines & the server was very knowledgable & attentive. I was visiting from out of town. I felt right at home at this place. They had half price bottles on Tuesdays. Live music on certain days/times. Try the hummus, It is very flavorful!

Yeah...not so much. It's a shame too because the food here really has good potential and they have an ideal Indy location. Unfortunately, the service here was incredibly disappointing. During my brief visit to Indianapolis this summer, I stopped in with family for a short meal. We were making the drive back to Cincinnati so we opted out of having any wine (disappointing, I know). Instead, we ordered a bunch of tapas and we all agreed that everything tasted fairly decent. We didn't oooo and aaahhh over anything, but it was good enough. Unfortunately, the service was not. In fact, the service during our visit was pretty horrific. Our server took a long time to greet us, had little to no personality, and took even longer to bring us our bill. Not to mention that he never once checked on us or refilled our drinks during the entire meal. Lame. So, I guess the decision is yours. Would I come back? Probably not, but maybe it was just a bad day.

Tastings helped cure my sprained ankle. Well...not really, but they helped get me through the evening. Picture this... #1: Girl in her suit and heels walking down the sidewalk downtown Indy. #2: Girl's heel gets stuck in crack on the sidewalk downtown Indy. #3: Girl takes a giant spill on the sidewalk downtown Indy. Thank goodness a colleague chauffeured me straight to Tastings for plentiful amounts of wine to dull the pain. The set up is simple...You have a pre-paid card, take a glass, and try anything you want. This might be one of the only times in my life I'd try a wine that runs over $500 a bottle since you can purchase just a sip at a time. It's a fun, social, no-pressure experience. Find a wine you like? Go for a whole glass! Or if you prefer variety, as its the spice of life, just keep trying until you're not limping from that sprained ankle anymore.

Fantastic wine selections, either through sampling or by the glass/bottle. They were very accommodating for food allergies, and the Rosemary Filet Mignon skewers were above average. I sense the blue cheese sauce would have easier the slight overlooked-ness (I like my filet rare, but there was no option so these were medium), but they were delicious nonetheless. Service was proportional to the business; the kitchen made excellent time, but as more tables filled the waitstaff was consistently slower. I would absolutely return

Busting with activity on a Saturday night, this place has a great formula --- lots of wines "on tap," so you can try a little or a lot. They have limits outdoor (sidewalk) seating that my friend and I were lucky enough to nab. The service wasn't exactly speedy, but they were quite crowded on the late Saturday night we were there. If and when I'm back in Indianapolis, I will definitely give it another shot.

I have only been here once and did not try the food, so I'm definitely open to giving it another go. I was just put off by the vending machine wine pours and the stark decor. Not to mention the high prices for little return. In my opinion, if a place is dedicated to wine and providing a venue for tasting wine, it should boast impressive sommeliers. I came to Tastings wanting to try a variety of wines and looking for a guide, but experienced no such thing. The service wasn't awful but it wasn't exceptional either. The people at the bar seemed to be enjoying themselves and they had a bartender who appeared knowledgeable but not to the sommelier level, but there was no room for us to join. We sat at a two-top table in the dining area and weren't approached by a server for at least 10 minutes after being seated. Meh, I know there is better out in Indy.

I must be living under a rock because this is the first wine bar I've been to where you can serve yourself---what an AWESOME way to get your wine! Inside the stunning conrad hotel is the spacious tastings wine bar! You load $ on a card and can help yourself to a hundred different kinds of wine. I stuck with the whites (my favorite was the moscato) but there's truly a great variety. Tastings start at a few dollars but can go up to $10+. There are also comfy couches as well as a bar area where you can sit and watch tv. If you like wine, stop in!!!

Not exactly an original concept, Tastings is the perfect bar for the location. Located in the Conrad hotel lobby, across from the Capital Grille, the clientele that frequent these places probably matches pretty well with Tastings. I remember when this place first opened up, it wasn't really busy. The great thing though is that the self-serve concept takes the pretentiousness out of wine tasting. You can choose if you want more or less interaction with the sommelier. They mostly have mainstream wines, so you won't find anything you couldn't find at your local wine store. They also offer bottles at retail prices, though cheaper than restaurant lists, I suspect they are slightly more expensive than your typical wine store. How it works is that you put $20 on a prepaid card and go around to the wine "kiosks" and pick a 3 oz. pour of any wine, each being priced relative to the bottle. Pours range from $2.50 to almost $19. They also have a full bar, so even the non-wine drinkers will be quenched. This place is good for a drink, but go elsewhere for food. Although they try to serve interesting foods, it comes out flat. Nothing is spectacular and most of it wasn't memorable. The cheese plate is adequate, but the more riskier dishes like the ceviche aren't really their strengths. 4 stars for a pretty good wine experience. Skip the food, although light fare such as the crudite and cheese aren't bad choices. Enomatic makes a champagne machine now, so hopefully they'll start using that.

Fair wine selections, though pricey... like the idea of the chef 'bar', but an active tv versus rotating artwork would be preferred. Great place to sit and watch the chef at work if you want. Ordered the Balsamic Roasted Vegetables, no hint of promised pesto, and the middle was cool... I sat at the bar and had stellar service, very attentive and knowledgable. Knowledge of the areas other restaurants, even chicago venues, was valuable.... ended up at one of his recommendations on Mass ave for a second course.... Great concept, will be back Thanks

My bf and I were staying at the Conrad and decided to go to Tastings for some wine. I definitely enjoyed the ambience. The servers were friendly. I love the concept of choosing you own wine. The cheese plate wasn't special at all. They did have a lot of cheeses to choose from, but the execution was poor. The flatbreads smelled delicious! If I were hungry I would have definitely ordered one. All in all, we had a great time. A bit pricey, but you're paying mostly for the experience so keep that in mind.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed Tastings. My idea of sophisticated wine is something that's not made by Boone's Farm (and I probably wouldn't drink it). They have such a selection of awesome that it's fun to wander, card in hand, and taste until you fall in love or fall, whichever comes first. I can't wait to come here with some friends and have a night of fun.

I love the concept and love the place. Had wanted to stop in for a long time and just got lucky last Monday with a beautiful day and 1/2 price wine glasses. You must ask though - our neighboring table heard the server tell us only after they had bought a bottle. Outdoor awesome minus the homeless guy playing his sax right there....if we could have only turned down his volume. Picked complimenting cheese and meat...I was a happy camper! Even at 1/2 price - still was not inexpensive. But I loved it and can't wait to go back! I want to try the serve yourself wine dispensers next time....

Just some notes on my Tastings experience... A friend and I headed here after work one day, about 5:30 pm. It filled up around 6-6:30, and people that came in after that had to stand. So get there earlier if you're planning on after-work drinks. The staff recommended we start with $20 on each of our cards and that the money would go by faster than we thought it would. We did that, but the problem was that we only wanted to have appetizers. Since we were driving home, we didn't end up spending all $20, but luckily could still apply the leftover balance to our appetizer bill. Speaking of appetizers, we had the Apple & Blue Cheese Crostini (which was amazing) and the Roasted Tomato & Goat Cheese Crostini (also good). Where the wine was concerned, they had a large variety of wines in a wide array of prices. Each wine had a descriptive card with it. What could have made it so, so much better would have been a note whether the wines were sweet or dry. It would have also been very helpful to note, either on each card or on the menu, what wines would work well with what foods. Instead, we had to guess or track down an employee to help. The employees weren't exactly attentive, so we had to constantly walk up to the bar or grab them as they hurriedly passed by our table. Despite all this, I still enjoyed the experience and have plans to go back soon. I will mention that Tastings offers a 3 or 4-course meal with wine pairings each Wednesday night. It's $25/person. Considering we spent $50-$60 on wine and two appetizers, getting a full meal with wine is a much better deal.

My step-mother and I went here post-Colts victory on Sunday night. We sat at the wine bar (there is a bar for the appetizer kitchen as well) and split a half-bottle of Veuve Clicquot. We also ordered a pizza, which was about 7" inches on flatbread and quite tasty (chicken, gouda, grapes). The bartender was friendly but distracted by friends who visited him at the bar. It was very busy, and it was not the best time for visits. He also seemed terribly unhappy, the staff members we were near all expressed some type of miserableness in working there, verbally. That always makes for an awkward dining experience. Everyone knows by now that this place allows you to pay whatever amount on a card and sample all of the wines they offer. You can even opt for a $50+ sample of Opus One if you like. We didn't sample, but, the machines are popular in Italy (where my step-mother had seen them previously) and they tell you the price of each sample and you purchase it and it shoots the sample into the wine glass you carry around with you. We watched plenty of beer-buzzed football fans stare enamored at the machines, sampling their share of wines. I took a look at their wine list, and they have the entire list organized in a book with descriptions about the winery and wine itself. You can purchase a bottle at market price, which is amazing. They had great grenaches and pinots for a mere $18 a bottle. Our half bottle of champagne was over market (I usually find it for about $30 at Kahn's) price, but, the wine's were priced accordingly. On a side note - they serve only pizza's and cheese plates. They also offer beer and mixed drinks for those of you who might not enjoy wine but get dragged along anyway. It's a bar - 21+ only. I'd like to go back, alone or with friends, to enjoy a bottle and a cheese plate. I hope the staff is a little more content next time (unlike their co-workers at the Capital Grille who serve with style, class and humor), and I'm sure it'll be an enjoy experience more so.

Great Concept, Poor Execution. Great Concept, but they need to work out the bugs. It's a "seat yourself" but you would have no clue walking in what you were supposed to do. Then 10 mins later someone comes up and tells you that you can sit anywhere, so you sit yourself down. You are left sitting wondering if there is a waiter or where to get a menu or how to try the wines until 10-15 mins pass and you finally get up and go ask someone what to do. This person will spend an entire 65 seconds explaining the concept to you and then walk away leaving you wondering what you are still supposed to do. You finally wave someone down and ask for a menu and get your prepaid card situation figured out. Then you are just left alone to your own devices...It is about as customer service oriented as a shady little shack bar off 16th street. My suggestions is the rework the concept to include some sort of hostess to explain the concept to everyone walking into the bar, they could then allow them to sit wherever they wanted and bring them menus and alert a "server" to come get their orders and give them their prepaid cards. WOW, imagine that - CUSTOMER SERVICE and FORESIGHT!

RAPIDLY becoming my new obsession in downtown Indy. The space is cosy and inviting and the staff is super-friendly and knowledgeable about all vino. Have a teetottaller friend drive you over because you'll want to sample all the wine here (they use a nifty debit card which you insert in a slot which then dispenses the wine). Great concept which will bring me back for me for certain

Though I love wine, I wasn't sure I'd love Tastings. I like to dress it up sometimes, but most of the time am the opposite of fancy, and worried that if I came in here I would wish I were wearing fancy pants instead of jeans. I've now been here twice, both times in jeans, and felt totally comfortable (mind you I was also wearing a nice shirt - this is no place to bring your ratty Nascar t-shirt, that is unless you keep it like a lucky charm in the bottom of your purse, as long as it's out of sight and you are wearing something decent). I have been here twice and have not done the whole tasting machine thing, but instead of had full bottles of wine. The prices on the full bottles are surprisingly reasonable, however the prices for a single glass are rather high. You can definitely get a really tasty bottle of wine for less than $30. The biggest surprise to me was how good the food was. The Mediterranean sampler was awesome - it came with hummus, white bean dip with cranberries, and bruschetta and was I think around $12. All three were awesome and the servings were HUGE. We also ordered an assortment of four cheeses and all were really good and also really huge portions - absolutely worth the money, which is not often how I feel after getting a cheese plate. Having had such good luck with appetizers and cheeses, we of course had to get a dessert and got the chocolate cake and the assortment of truffles from The Best Chocolate in Town. The truffles were, of course, amazing, as is everything I've had from B.C.I.T., and as chocolate cake and red wine are best friends, we really made an excellent decision. Since then, I've been back just for more of that cake and red wine - apparently they are not only best friends with each other, but also with me. The staff here were really friendly and helpful, and the bathrooms that you use are the Conrad bathrooms, so are faaaaaancy. Bonus!

Purchase card. Insert card in machine. Push button over the wine you want. Enjoy a taste or a glass. Simple. Fun. And an engaging way to try one or more of over 100 wines that this place has being served from the Enomatic wine system. This is probably the fourth review I've done on a wine bar that has this new equipment out of Italy. It's nice as it allows you to taste a wide range of wines and they they will sell you the bottle at a fraction of the cost of you repeatedly filling your glass up for the "tastes" at the machines. They also have a menu of foods to eat along with your wine but these were not sampled on the night I was there. Tastings is part of a chain- other locations are in Orlando, FL, Mystic, CT, Grapevine, Texas, and Winter Park FL. This location has been open since last November and the manager let me know that it has been packed every night since then. This location is perfect. Located in downtown Indy in the Conrad hotel- you can enjoy your wine indoors in the contemporary setting or take it outdoors to the bistro seating on the patio. Whether these "self serve" wine bars are a fad or will go the long haul is still up in the air. But on this night in Indy-it as fun to buy a card, mingle with some other people to see what they recommended from their tastings, and sip wine on a sultry night.

This is my fav place downtown, excellent food I recommend the filet with Rosemary and tomato, the red pepper hummus, the spinach dip, and the great selection o cheeses! I love all the varieties of wine and when you find one you like the bottle price is very reasonable! If it's nice out check out the outdoor seating very cozy!

Well let's just say, if you just want to stop in for a glass of wine and some great food, come on down, if you want the opportunity to samples more wines than you can imagine and have great food to boot, alright! We had along drive from Chicago and a 2 1/2 hour meeting when we got to Indy, so we decided to eat something close to the hotel, we stayed at the Conrad Hilton which had two restaurants, Capital Grille and Tastings. We chose Tastings and it was really great once we got by the all the wines you can sample by the server. We just ordered the house cab sav wine $39 a bottle and had chicken stickers, mini filet mginon and a cheese/sausage platter. All was very good will be back next time!

Ounce for ounce this may the tastiest food in downtown Indy. A little on the pricier side but ideal for a special occasion or extended evening out. The comfy outdoor seating is a nice touch. A couple must tries from the menu are the Petite Filets (as tasty as any steak on the same street) and the Mexican Pizza. Plenty of reasonable wine options but I would refer Tastings for the high quality tapas rather the wine bar experience. Great spot for a date or small intimate group. The service was friendly and attentive but not as knowledgable as you would hope given the unique menu that begs plenty of questions. I've been there before and I'll certainly be back!

Wine Bar regulars beware! This place is overpriced using cheap, low quality wines. Dont let the 2 SilverOaks throw you off, most of the list is terrible. Loud, roudy people bring what should be an upscale place down a few pegs. Its hard to move around the place when its busy and you have to walk around the place to use the dispensing machines. Food is decent, but they need a lesson on what Fresh Mozzerella and Proscuito should be...not a weird Bruschetta variation with Romano on top. Dessert was pretty good, a couple bucks over the mark, but tasted great. For a nice place as it is, I thought the staff wearing hats backwards was out of place. Also, can someone please dust the ceiling cove? You can see a black ring of filth up there plain as day. Also, service will be slow, so bring a book...maybe on other places in Indy to eat and drink wine.

One suit, two suit, three-piece suit... as soon as the clock struck 9pm, the place was flooded by.... suits! Well, suits and suit-dresses alike. This corner hot spot for after a day's work in the window office charges from $18-375 for a bottle of wine to share. Or, you can opt to explore the 104 bottles in the room and pay per taste (from $2.50-up). Seating may be limited. About a third of the crowding was standing when I visited. The chairs that are available are comfortable, though. And, yes, it is loud. Sat across a coffee (or wine) table from friends and had to yell. Otherwise, +good wine +excellent service. I'll come back when I'm dressed for success and/or when the outdoor seating is open again. Didn't try the food but from the looks of other tables, the portions may run small ($6-20 per item - from salads to flatbreads to cheeses to desserts).

I went to tastings last night for their Sunday night jazz-- Tastings, thank you. There is barely anything to do in Indianapolis on Sunday nights-- and had a pretty nice time. There are some surprisingly reasonably priced wines. The hummus and flatbread was vegan and a perfect late night snack. It offset the wine nicely. I sat at the bar, which was nicely spaced (I hate the usual sardine-esque, shoulder-to-shoulder chair arrangements you usually find at a bar). Many of the staff stopped to greet me just to be pleasant. It was a really relaxed, grown up venue. No drama, everyone had a good time. Cynthia Layne and Reggie Bishop played a beautiful set. I'll be coming back.

I'm a sucker for wine bars and this one certainly did not disappoint. It was my first experience with the Eno wine machines where the wines on board were not insanely overpriced. The set up is pretty simple-- come in, get a card, and browse the wines. They must have over 100 bottles "on tap", as I counted 8 machines each with a 16 bottle capacity. The waitstaff were very friendly and helpful, even chatting up the various wines that they enjoyed. For a fairly young median age for the staff, I was surprised and impressed that those I spoke to had at least a solid foundation of wine knowledge. Loved the plush couches and nooks to sit and enjoy a glass of wine-- decor is trendy yet appropriate for the venue. Definitely will be back!

If you are hungry you are looking for the wrong place. If you want to have some wine it seems like the place. I am not a wine expert and unfortunately I was hungry. I ordered the filet. Per oz the file was the same price as Morton's and the waiter didn't ask how I wanted it prepared. I had to go to another restaurant. They sell tapas and they mean it.

My best friend got married last week. My best friend really loves to drink. So it was no surprise when I got the itinerary for the bridal party and it said things like "A cocktail hour followed by the rehearsal dinner (where cocktails will be served) followed by a nightcap at a wine bar." Well, if we're going to be doing that much drinking, I'd better as hell enjoy what I'm drinking. The set-up at Tastings allows me to pretty much make sure I am. While this place does have the standard bar set-up with all the standard accouterments, the real draw are the stations with a dozen or so wine bottles lined up for, well, tastings. How it works, is you buy what amounts to a debit card, you insert your card into the machine with the bottle of wine you want, put your glass under the spout, hit the button and viola, you get about 2 ounces of wine to sample. The price of the sample, which is clearly displayed next to the button you push for the sample is then deducted from the card. Neat, huh? It gives you tons of opportunities to sample all sorts of wines you ordinarily might be wary of trying since you're not committing to a whole glass. There's also nice detailed descriptions of each wine displayed including the varietal, where the grapes were grown, and a pretty indepth flavor profile. The place isn't exactly cheap. You're definitely paying a bit of a premium for the convenience of trying so many different wines and the prices for the samples almost seem perfectly set so that they never quite evenly use up your card. But still, for a nice night out, with the opportunity to mix and mingle with bottles upon bottles of your new best friends, it's worth a visit.

My wife and I were staying at the Conrad and decided to try out Tastings. It was very crowded at 6 on a Saturday night. We had to hover and wait for people to leave so we could sit down. We have been to places like this before so we passed on the wine tasting stations and ordered dinner and a bottle of wine. We waited a little while before a server came over but after that, the service was great. We ordered a few small plates and split a sandwich. The food was excellent. It came out quick. My wife really liked the pizza and I was a big fan of the hummus. Our bill with tip was $60. Not bad for dinner and a good bottle of wine.

If you don't like commitment, this is the perfect place for you. Tastings serves up over 100 wines from the Enomatic wine system so if you are a Gemini you might want to skip this place! Located on the corner of the Conrad, Tastings is a trendy spot downtown with great outdoor space for people watching. I would recommend the cheese offerings over the other food selections on the menu. They use convection ovens and the cooked food is a bit bland.

This place is really cool to go at least once and is a really cute idea for a date night. We were given a $100 gift certificate here as a wedding present. It definitly made a great gift. I'm sure we would appreciate it more if we were real wine aficianados, but we aren't I basically was glued to the enticing whites most of the time. It really is a great concept though, a self service tasting room where you insert a card and pay a few bucks for a taste but can also purchase a full glass. It's really neat that a place like this is right in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. Overall, it's definitly a good place to give a gift for a wedding or couple or a good place to go for a girls night out. We had a lot of fun.

This place is too cheesy to be as pretentious as it is! I came during Wednesday WineTasting, so maybe it's got a different feel the rest of the week. Still, I have a feeling that they always like to keep their noses in the air without actually delivering anything impressive. I'm not sure if it's because I came alone and only ordered a glass of wine, and wasn't one of the old ladies that made reservations for the tasting, but I hardly got a warm welcome. It was probably 10 minutes before I got a menu. Then, despite not actually doing the tasting, I could hear everything because they use microphones during the tasting as if it's a comedy show, not an upscale dinner. Granted, it is loud in there, but a handheld mic doesn't really fit into a "classy" wine bar. Oh, and don't be surprised if they advertise the opera every 5 minutes throughout the dinner -- it never seemed to stop! If you're looking for a quiet spot to enjoy a glass of wine, I'd recommend your hotel bar over this place. I didn't try any food, but I'm pretty sure I can stop by a specialty market and make it better, for less. The only redeeming quality was the variety of wines and cheeses. (They're just lucky I love wine and cheese!)
