Dancing, booze, and fun! That's all you need to know! Talbott is the perfect place for getting together with a group of your best friends to see amazing performances! I've been here several times for birthdays and let me tell you...it's an experience you won't ever forget. Watch a drag show and then dance the night away. If you're lucky enough to get a reservation, you get a table with your name on it and prime seating for the shows. But, you have to book them early. Vicki and Asia are my favorites because they're so damn funny and beautiful! You have to try this place out at least once. You won't be sorry!

Is there a limit to how much fun a person can have in one night? If so, we definitely surpassed that limit with flying colors at Talbott Street. I have been meaning to get to one of their drag shows for quite some time. We visited for a Friday night show - free! wow! The performers were wonderful and full of surprises. Silly me, I didn't realize till the show was almost over (because a friend told me) that there were only four dancers on rotation changing characters/wardrobes. Our favorite Queen was a little bit of Beyonce, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj all rolled into one. She definitely kept the audience on the edge of their seats. My only complaint would be how long it took to get served at the bar. I'm a fairly patient person but after 15 minutes of patiently waiting and missing out on the show, I was getting a little frustrated. Can't wait to head back! Next time we'll be sure to get there a little earlier to nab some seats. note: condom bowl as you exit...some were expired.yikes.

If you want to be treated like human garbage by the door staff...then this is the place for you. As a first time visitor, I will not be back. Much Aloha.

TOO MUCH FUN! We went here for a bachelorette party and couldn't have picked a better place. If you are going for the show, be sure to email them ahead of time and get reserved seats, the seats and free and it's so much fun when the queens interact with you! Everyone was extremely friendly and the drinks at the bar were amazing! We went on a Saturday night to the 9:30pm show and there weren't too many people there. Maybe it's just me, but I think bars are much more fun when there's more than a handful of people there. This place is perfect for bachelorette parties, birthday's or a night out with the girls!

You can dance if you wanna! You can leave your cares behind! Talbott Street is everything. My friend Alex thinks they have a shoddy sound system, but I think he's got a bad attitude. (you have a bad 'tude, alex!) Here's what Talbott is all about: Super strong super cheap drinks to the max, loud music, dance dance dance. It is a gay bar that is probably 80% gay, 20% straight. There's a place for everyone at Talbott Street. I've never gone there and had a bad night, and I've been going for 9 years, suckers. Wanna dance on a platform? Cool, hop up on one and dance. Wanna do shots? Sit on a couch? Stand? Wiggle? Use a bathroom with an entrance covered in shiny string beads? Awesome. You're at Talbott Street and you can do all those things, along with catching a drag show and likely listening to 'Only (Girl in the World)' by Rihanna.

Whoa dance party!! I am probably the absolute LAST person that should EVER be on a dance floor. Really. It's not pretty. I've had 90 year old grandmas get up out of their wheelchairs, come over, pull me off the dance floor, and tell me to never do that again because I was embarrassing myself.... But really. Talbott Street is pretty fun. I don't fit in with the crowd in any way shape of form, but it doesn't seem to matter here. If you like to dance and have a good time, check them out. I think they also do a lot of fun and "unique" shows here as well, so keep an eye out for any special events.

Talbott is just A-OK to me. I'm never really crazy excited to go here, because I absolutely loathe cover charges. I feel like the dance floor is a little awkward here, I find the drinks a bit pricy. However, I always end up having a good time here. I love the look of this bar. I love the stage and the performances that are put on here. I think this bar is great for the performance aspect of it with drag queens and there seems to be quite a few little events that happen here. I go here occasionally, but it just doesn't get me as pumped up as some of the other bars. However, it is a great people watching venue for sure.

This is a good place to go if you are a bridal party. If you are actually gay, you will probably feel a little out of place. I have only been once, but if that was any indication, I am certain I won't return. There were 8 bridal parties the night I went and maybe a handful of gay people. It is more of a spectacle kind of show, like a straight bar with drag, more or less. Clearly the gays got the memo, so I figured I would pass along my experience to prevent further letdowns. Don't get me wrong, they are welcoming of gay folk, but I would just choose somewhere else more gay to spend my gay time.

I super love Talbott Street! I have been here on numerous occasions and have had a great time every single time. The drag show is hilarious and fantastic! The rave-esque music and glow sticks make me smile and the drinks are strong. There are tables on the upper floor that look over the dance area so I love to sit up there while guzzling drinks and people watch. This place is really fun and does not pretend to be anything other than what it is. I really appreciate that.

Talbot is one of those places I don't understand why people go. Its nice looking; huge dance floor and upstairs with overlooking the downstairs area. I waited for a drink over 5 minutes in a empty bar with two bartenders!!!!! Drinks are weak. They have drag shows on Friday (Which is wonderful thing), but it actually sucks. (Few of the dresses looks like stolen from the couch cushions and few of them was made out of curtains, I think.) Just because you walk around try to open your mouth to the words playing from the speakers does not make you are "Drag Queen". Where is the flair? On Saturdays its just busy with quaze crappy techno music, (No wonder 99.5 is famous in Indy).

I went here a few times while I was still in Indianapolis. I always had a great time! Compared to other bars in the area I believe the drinks to be very expensive (not beer...beer is like 2-3$). The music is very loud. My friend that told me that the sky bar was quieter, but I actually thought it was much louder. I know its a night club, but it was kinda ridiculous how loud it was. I suggest getting pretty loaded before going then try to maintain the buzz while there!

The girls are stunning. Love that you can still smoke in bars in Indy. It reminds me of Smart Bar circa 1996. My friend got kissed in the unisex bathroom by the same sex. Good times had by all.

Great for heterosexual women, a pain for gay men. Don't be the one guy to bring 6 straight women with you... There will be a lot of sitting in silence, pushy straight women, and an undeserved level of pretension from some of the other guests. If you're gay and don't have anything else to do on a Saturday night, this is the only place you might have a chance, but if you're really looking for a fun time you might as well plan a trip to Boystown.

So one of my guilty pleasures happens to be Rupal's Drag Race, and thankfully many of the Queens from the show are booked for Talbott's First Friday Drag Show. If you plan on attending the First Friday shows, I would highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance. Talbott's uses brownpapertickets.com for these shows if you order online. Other regular events offered include the Lady's of Legends, who perform show regularly on Friday and Saturdays at 9:30 and 11:30 PM. If comedy happens to be your thing, I would recommend checking out IndyProv performs the third Friday of the month in the Legends lounge. As for the club its self, the dance floor is on the smaller side and it has a handful of tables that line the wall. One of things that I tend to always forget the step that separates the main floor and puts you closer to the stage. One thing to keep in mind about Tablotts and what others have mentioned, is that you have to shell out $3 for a bottle of water. It is actually cheaper to purchase a soda, that is usually packed with ice for $2. Also, the bathroom is a tight squeeze, but can get crowded, as there are only 2 stalls for the ladies. I will say the two best things about Talbott is that they do have a private lot, but on Frist Fridays it can get packed and you will most likely be parking on the street, and people watching. This place offers great people watching.

FABULOUS hunty! Drag shows full of talent, meet n greets with Rupaul's gurls, and VIP realness! Love this place!!

So much fun here. Definitely THE place for bachelorette parties (aka why I was there) but I will admit that I haven't had this much genuine fun in a while. Go for one of the shows in which drag queens give a 3-4 minute show where they dance and lip sing to songs while walking through the audience, making eye contact with everyone in the room. Bring dolla bills, yo. Drinks are stiff and cheap, DJ is good and a nice size dance floor for the late night-ers. $5 cover. Cabs know where it's at ;)

I think the bar is great and has a great atmosphere. I loved that they have their own private parking lot! The drinks were pretty expensive. $6.00 for a bottled beer. $5.50 for a watered down mixed drink. When I visited they had a drag show. The outfits were interesting to see, but I was disappointed because only ONE drag queen sang. Also, they had a silent auction that ended up not being so silent because I had to ask about every single item because they were not displayed. I won a TGI Fridays bag - the bag was clearly not endorsed by TGI Fridays because it contained a bag of TGI Fridays loaded potatoe chips, two sam adams glasses, and two EXPIRED coupons.

WOW! Well the makeup on these folks is amazing! I want my makeup to look like that! They had a couple that have tits and dance and jump up and down other than that they just move through the crowd collecting dollars. The lip-sync needs some work and one of the costumes on one of the drag queens is falling apart! strings everywhere! The queens were fine it's the club! what a DISASTER! nasty stinky reeks of MOLD MUSTY smells. The poor stage and steps for the queens is worn out just thrown together mess and ready for paint and repair as a matter of fact this club needs a makeover! The prices here are outrageous sure only 5 to get in need to be 5 cash. A bottle of water cost me 3 bucks and if I take it out I couldn't bring it back in I told the door guy I wasn't coming back in..goodnight. It was 11pm It's a money pit and not worth a dime! If you like dancing booze and mold that's cheap trashy and stinky loaded with trashy youngsters then you'll love this place. Indianapolis has a large gay community really large and they should have someplace to go, but if it were me that wouldn't be the place. Would I do back..nope I don't think so.

Was visiting Indy from out of town and took my friend who had never witnessed a drag show. My friend and I had an amazing time. The acts were one after another non stop good entertainment. Great place i seriously would recommend it to anyone.

I am not into the dance scene, myself, and I am not into the drag shows. So, you may wonder why I am writing a review for such an establishment? Well, I get dragged (no pun intended) here quite often. Two areas I would like to give people a "heads- up" about... First, the "cops" that the club hires to sit out front are often creepier than anything you will find going in or out of the club on any given night. Ive seen them photographing the girls from the squad car as they walk around outside... which is just odd to me. Last weekend I bumped heads with a "gentleman" who had no patience with questioning his pushy behavior or his right to treat patrons with disrespect. I am really hoping he isn't a part of the new rotation of security for the club. Where do they find these guys?? Second, if you are wanting to really see this place light up on the dance floor, and are primarily attending for dancing, it usually doesn't happen until late on Saturdays. We have been there as late as 11:30 with absolutely not a soul on the floor yet. You have to wait out the drag shows if you want to see the place really pick up. Many people can be there.. but not a person dancing until late. Half the crowd or even greater are just there to watch. Best advice is to bring a partner and get out there! :)

I love Talbott. Strong drinks, beautiful Queens, and great DJs who play really great versions of songs. The place is huge, and it's non-smoking. There are a variety of different bars other than the main one. You often have to pay on Saturdays. Do not forget to bring dollars for the Queens.

Drag shows, three bars, upscale decor, plenty of people watching, huge dance floor with get-up-and-dance platforms if you really need to work it. Word to the wise: peek into the legends' lounge and make sure you're not missing something. A lot of good shows hide in here. You can't do gay indy without doing Talbott. You're guaranteed to run into someone you know if you come on the weekends.

I might be biased but I am giving the place 5 stars just for being fierce enough to remain open in conservative Indy. The outside would not make you pause for a second but inside it is like you have just stepped into someone's jewel box with orate decorations, a great central bar, two stages and the best drag entertainment in the midwest. The management even manages to bring in the "drag stars" from Rupaul's show! Drinks are reasonably priced and man oh man they will get you there in a hurry! Fun people. Friendly people. Great place to enjoy some great music and entertainment.

Not your average gay bar. They have great drag shows and plenty of bars to ensure you always have a drink in hand. The heart of this place is the club atmosphere, so if you're looking for a fun night of dancing, great music and New York style partying, this place is definitely worth checking out, no matter what your sexual preferences are.

Seriously, always a good time. Great DJs, the queens are great and HILARIOUS, and you never feel uncomfortable. You won't stop dancing! Drink specials, too, I believe. AND they're working on their second appearance of a queen from RuPaul's Drag Race.. gotta love it, hunty!

I've been here twice. The first time was on a week night to watch rupauls drag race. It was a little weird because it was the first time my friend & I had been. The only way to get upstairs was to walk up these narrow stairs on the side of the building. Kinda looked like the perfect place to get murdered, but we did it anyway. The guys upstairs who were smoking were even nice enough to stop "ashing" as we walked under the area they were ashing at. We get inside & the decor is blue & white! Freaking amazing wonderful setup!! We got a seat, & could tell that a lot of the people came weekly to watch the show. We ordered drinks, & they were wonderful! I was feeling it after one. A drag queen came by & talked to us, & asked if we had been before, & told us when to come & what upcoming events they had. We had a nice time. The next time I came was on a Saturday night with a few friends. The cost to get in wasn't too expensive I wanna say two bucks, but I'm sure it was under five. The thing that I didn't like was they were playing techno music which they refer to as 'house music." At first we thought they would play a set of it for 30-45 minutes, but that was all they played. Drove me crazy. The place was pretty much packed, but not a lot of people were dancing. Everything downstairs was nice. The upstairs is far better though. If you want to watch a drag show there was a room off to the side where they did that. You also had to get in their early because the room got packed QUICKLY All in all if you don't like techno music don't come on Saturday.

First off, this bar is now non-smoking. If all bars followed suit, I'd be inclined to go out more often. I believe most of the gay bars in Indy are non-smoking now - trendsetters as usual. Secondly, the QUEENS. I adore them! Asia LaBouche, Vicki St. James? I've know these queens for years and they always bring the fun! Don't forget your dollars and tip the queens and servers well! I've been here for my bachelorette party and several birthdays (mine and others) as well as just random weekend outings. Always, always a super fun time.

If you like cross-dressing men, this, by God, this is the place for you. If you don't like cross-dressing men, then head for the hills. Maybe it was because we were there on Halloween night, but the guys in drag outnumbered everyone else in there. That said, it had an amazingly fun environment. The music alternated between upbeat techno and men/women on stage singing whatever the hell popped out of their mouths. The patrons are very friendly and are more than willing to respect the straight guys. I've heard from various females who have gone to the place that it's the most fun they've ever had at a club because the men aren't after sex, allowing them to honestly enjoy themselves. Someone uncomfortable with the gay scene probably shouldn't go there. Someone just looking to have a blast--or maybe a mean Sex on the Beach--would fit right in here.

I COULD NOT STOP DANCING!!! Our salon recently visited Indy for a hair show convention and several of us went out to Talbot Street. I can't wait to go back! Most fun I've ever had out. Drinks were a good price and delicious. I'm going back for my 30th birthday for sure!!! One of the Queens told me to put my tits away since no one wanted to see them there LMAO LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!XOXOXO

This is the best gay club in town...for dancing or drag shows. Friday nights are a bit slow, but they own Saturday night. There's always a good mix of straight and gay clientele. The early drag shows have a bit too many bridal parties, whereas the later shows are for the boys. Either way, make sure to bring plenty of dollar bills for the entertainers.

Friendly staff, great music, great performers! Talbott Street is the place to be if you are gay, open-minded or sophisticated. Friday night have great $2.50 drink specials, drag shows and an Emmy award nominated comedy troupe.

I agree with the first reviewer, Vickie St. James is one of my favorites too! I came home (to Indy) to visit and my best friend took me here for a good time! We had a blast! On Friday nights they have a $4 drink list with fun names like a 'banana hammock' and 'proud mary' and many more! Or try the pricier cocktails ($10 martinis) like a 'Lemon Drop with Wings' yummy!!! This was seriously the best entertainment I have had in a very long time, and I am straight! lol I love how at the end of the show Vickie came out and hackled all the straight women, and the gay men with birthdays and anniversaries! These ladies can sing, dance, and make everyone have a GREAT time. We had the honor of seeing Miss Gay USA, she rocked! This was a strange night for me cause after my first drag show we went to my first strip club... for the record I would take the drag show any day! Vickie and the others really work hard for their money!

I miss this club... SO FREAKING MUCH. Every time I go there, I have such a great time and the music... DAMN... phenomenal and SO infectious to dance your ass off all night long to the point of losing a lot of calories from drinking the booze :) This club... NEEDS to educate the shithole "gay dance clubs" as they so call themselves... in Tucson... because Tucson's gay nightlife STINKS....... STINKS... STINKS................

    (5)
  • Eric P.

I only give it four stars due to it's competition (or lack thereof). This club is the core of the 20-something and 30-something gay set in Indianapolis. There is a decent upstairs lounge that overlooks the dance floor -- very 'Queer-As-Folk-Babylon'. The drinks are decent, not too expensive. The drag shows are fun though -- Vickie St. James is my favorite.

I heart, heart, heart Talbott Street. This may be my favorite place for post-11-o'clock nightlife in town, although it's in close competition with the hookah cafe. I love the cheesy Europop music (baggage from all that time spent in Russia; what can I say?), the cross-dressers, the drag shows, the gay boys dancing on the platforms, the stiff drinks and the general air of joyful debauchery. I love that it's the only place in town that I can wear my real club clothes. Too bad I don't get out here more often. Yay, Talbott Street!
