This place is close to our house so we thought we would give it a try. My wife had tried sushi there before and enjoyed it so we decided to try it for dinner. We came across a deal on Restaurants.com which offered a $25 gift card for $10 with the minimum of a $35 purchase. Upon arrival we notified the waitress that we had the gift card (as the gift card instructed). She went on to let us know that we could only purchase appetizers and a la carte sushi. Apparently they view all of their dinner entrees as "House Specials". The gift card does state you can not buy "house specials" with it but come on...is every entree' a house special? You could not even order off the hibachi or any other dinner. We planned on spending a fair amount on drinks, appetizers, entrees and possibly desserts. However, the fact that we could not order an entree spoiled our mood (and appetite). We ended up ordering some a la carte sushi, spring rolls, grilled chicken skewers and fried rice. The fried rice was served in a carved out pineapple which overpowered the flavor of the whole dish. Also, I ordered chicken rice and received shrimp?? The grilled chicken was supposed to be a tempura but was not. The spring rolls were... well spring rolls...nothing special there. The sushi was overall fairly good and to get to our $35 we ordered fried cheesecake. Overall the place was set up nice. However, we have used the gift card specials on Restaurant.com and have never came across a problem like this. How odd is it to force someone to spend less and not order what they want? They may have thought they were being tricky with the wording but the tricks on them. They have lost sushi connoisseurs who live less than a mile away. This is also one of the only times in my life where I have left a restaurant after dinner and drove through a Taco Bell because we left still hungry. #EpicFail

This is a great sushi joint. You won't be disappointed. Great date night restaurant.

I'm always up for trying a new sushi joint. Considering we're in the middle of the country, it's a challenge to find a balance between quality fish and affordability. My wife and I decided to try this place out. The curbside appeal is lacking to say the least. SUSHI HOUSE is the only thing you'll notice as you drive through the parking lot of the strip mall. The decor was nice, but overall it was a small venue. Although, like many others, the prices were on the high side...the sushi was good. I liked the creative spin on some of the ingredients. Good use of cilantro and fruit while not a combination I would put together, it tasted great. Not sure if it is good enough to go out of my way to go back, but if I'm in the neighborhood and found an extra $20 in my jacket...you know never know

If you love sushi and are well familiar with good sushi do not come here. All the sushi and insides of the roll were ground up to a paste. Therefore every piece had the same texture and taste whether it was the spicy tuna or Godzilla roll. Also the pieces of fish we did have, via sashimi and a piece of yellowtail was extremely dried out like it had been refroze. The prices did not reflect ground up sushi. The cost was the same as places in Chicago.

This place is starting to become my new favorite sushi place! We were given a groupon here last year as a gift and really loved it so we decided to give it another try and we were just as impressed as the first time! It's in a strip mall area so at first you're a little worried but the inside is really clean and classy! The prices aren't horrible and the fish is really fresh! I love the salmon sashimi, so fresh it melts in your mouth! The butterfly roll is probably the best roll I have ever eaten, no lie. The staff is really nice and polite! I want to give this place 5 stars so badly but I feel like I should go a few more times just to be sure!

The outside of this restaurant is deceiving with it being located in a strip mall. Once inside, I was impressed with the decor. It had dark wood, low lighting, and a great setting for a date. I wasn't thrilled with the high price of the rolls, the only reason this place didn't give five stars, but I was impressed with the variety of the rolls. Many other sushi restaurants add tempura to make their rolls different. This place was able to mix things up without frying. We enjoyed their fuji tuna that had apples in it. We had another tuna with mango which was delicious. Their philly roll was the same as every other place but still good. I would go back next time I'm in the neighborhood.

I had a coupon for $2 off box lunch that expired Friday, it was pretty good. It was teriyaki chicken ($6.99 after coupon). It also had lots of rice and 4-piece California roll. Also got Philly roll ($6.99), 8 pieces which was good but not quite like Ichiban. Service was prompt and cordial. It was mid afternoon and no one else was in.

I was originally very pleased to see a sushi restaurant in the area. Unfortunately the staff is very unfriendly and appears to seem oblivious to customers waiting to be seated or pick up take out orders. The last straw was after my attempt to order take out for my family (which includes a toddler) I ordered an appetizer, 2 entrees and attempted to order a kids meal. I was told that I could only order a child's meal if we ate in restaurant dining. I attempted to TRY to explain not only was I trying to order for my entire family, but I was quite certain they would no prefer my 2 year old as a dine in customer. I had a take out menu and explained that no where on the menu did it restrict a child's meal to dine in only. I was told it was up to the manager and he said no. Needless to say not only did they pass on a 40.00+ order but all future orders from our household. They are rude and lack reasonable customer service. Plenty of nice sushi restaurants close by.

This is our go to sushi place. We are never disappointed but the Geist roll and the butterfly roll are my two favorites. The staff is extremely friendly & has gotten to know our family well over the last 2 years as we typically done here 1-2 times per month. They often have a Groupon that is a great deal, we just typically buy additional rolls because 2 isn't enough for us! I highly recommend this place!

My favorite sushi place for the Dynamite Roll. Prices and tax are a little more expensive than other restaurants. 1/2price sushi hours which make the visit well worth the drive. Small setting.

Yum! Thrilled to find a place that I don't have to struggle to get to during rush hour on 86th St. Very fresh and super clean rolls--meaning, not too ricey and a nice presentation. I had very simple rolls, which I think is a great way to test out the quality of a new sushi place. The salmon roll did not disappoint! The spicy tuna was good, but not really my thing. It had crunch mixed in it which I not a huge fan of. The dinner specials are a great deal. I had two classic rolls with miso soup and a salad for $11.

Very good and fresh. The miso soup was tastey, the ginger dressing on the salad was to die for! I even drank the leftover from bowl. I had the spicy tuna roll and an eel roll that was AMAZING! The salmon roe was spectacular. I'll be back for sure.

I love the people and the sushi here. Lunchtime half price rolls are a winner with me. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area.

I will have to recommend this place to anyone who loves sushi you have to come to sushi house I live up in Lafayette but I'll be willing to drive 60 miles just to come get sushi again

I love the sushi here. Fresh and nicely prepared. The spicy tuna roll is top notch. The miso is tasty as well. My kids love the chicken fried rice, and it is delicious.

A friend and I tried this place on Saturday and it was fantastic! I was a little worried when we went in because we were the only people in the place, but the service, food, and atmosphere were great! I had the dancing eel roll and the dynamite roll. Both rolls were well prepared and great tasting. The sushi chef came to the table and talked to us and he was very knowledgeable about sushi. The prices are great here as well. Many basic rolls such as Spicy Tuna and California rolls were around $5. I was glad to find a sushi bar in Lawrence and I will definitely be returning!

I had take out today from here, but I have to say I really like the ambience of this place. The employee that took my transaction was very respectable and professional and I'm sure my future dine in experience will great. I had the super crunchy salmon roll, spicy tuna, and spicy salmon roll and everything was really great. Keep up the good work. I will be sure to give that fifth star once I dine in.

In a word...Outstanding! I have been a huge fan of this place since I bought a groupon for it a few years ago. This is one of this hole in the wall type places that knows their specialty well. Their food is consistent every time I go and the prices are great. I couldn't ask for more. If you like sushi, try this place. You may never go anywhere else for sushi again.

We come here a lot. It is never disappointing, but there is nothing special about this place either. If you're looking for the standard rolls or basic dishes like teriyaki or tempura, there is nothing wrong with Sushi House. However, it's not memorable. But, hey, it's suburban Indianapolis. The likelihood of finding memorable sushi here is slim to none.

Try to visit new sushi places around Indy and Carmel. Visited here for a late afternoon lunch. The service was efficient and friendly. The decor was nice. The sushi was fresh. I would highly recommend the lunch options. Miso soup was perfect as well as salad with ginger dressing. Ordered extra steamed white rice as it was delicious. I'm not normally in Geist area so used the GPS for directions. It is hidden in a strip mall that appears right when you are sure the GPS has you lost :)

It is not an impressive Chinese Sushi. But if you are looking for a quick fix, that is fine. Family dinning? Ok!

My husband and I will drive out of our way for good sushi since it is so hard to find in Indiana. We consider ourselves extremely lucky that Sushi House is only a mile from our house! The restaurant does seem out of place (in a strip mall), and would be difficult to find if you didn't know it was there (the sign is small), but these qualities are what makes Sushi House a "hidden gem". The fish is fresh, the service is friendly and efficient, and the sushi roll menu offers plenty of options. Tip: Some of the sushi roll descriptions don't mention that a roll is deep-fried, but it actually is, so ask the server to be sure.

We have frequented Sushi House for a couple of years. It is one of our local favorites. It is run by a young couple who really do their best in providing a quality experience. Their sushi is very good. The Geist roll is the best specialty roll I've ever had. My wife agrees. Edamame is excellent as well. I gave it 4 stars because to get a 5 from me....well, it's extremely tough. I would highly recommend Sushi House. Excellent family owned restaurant.

The wife and I were craving sushi and weren't quite sure where to go. Trying to dine on a budget I too purchased a restaurants.com place for this place. AMBIANCE- this place is not in a very convenient location. My wife and I were coming for Noblesville and had to go some crazy way to get out to this place. Probably didn't help that it was snowing when we went. The restaurant itself has a very basic decor. It's pushing for modern, but still looks a bit too bare to pull it off. SERVICE- there werent' too many people there (probably because of the snow) Our server was friendly, and seemed to know what was what on the menu. MENU- an abbreviated Japanese menu. Outside of the sushi, the entrees were limited to bentos and teriyakis. Didn't matter to the wife and I, as we came for the sushi. Sushi menu was pretty standard as well. None of the house rolls seemed to creative or inventive. FOOD- the wife and I got a few rolls- we got the dynamite roll (deep fried salmon, crab and asparagus), crunchy spicy tuna, an eel role, and some others. The sushi was good not great. I'd say it was a step above buffet sushi, but not much more than that. OVERALL- there has to be better places in Indy for sushi. Sadly, my wife and I have yet to find them. If you live close to this place, it will probably satiate your sushi need, but past that, don't bother. Celebrity Rating- Andre Dice Clay

The portions were on the small side, and the sushi was just okay. We will not be returning because of the service. We had a groupon for a meal for two. When we were done, we were still hungry. Since it was during their happy hour, we asked to get the deal after paying our bill, but they refused us due to the groupon. There was NO ONE else in the restaurant at 4 pm and they decided to turn us away. There are many nicer and better places for sushi.

This is a respectable sushi restaurant, but a little pricier than I expected. Although you wouldn't know it from the outside of the building, this place has a nice atmosphere inside. I can tell they use quality ingredients, but their execution just didn't wow me. Their maki rolls are small and unless you order specialty rolls, there is nothing impressive about them. For instance, when I order a spicy salmon roll at other restaurants, it usually comes with a drizzle of that sriracha mayo that I love so much, but sadly Sushi house served theirs plain. My meal came with the standard salad and cup of miso soup. We also had edamame for an appetizer. Not bad, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at Sushi House again.

Very unassuming. Tucked away in a generic grocery store stripmall. I've tried a number of places around Indy and Sushi House is a very solid option. I usually order some salmon nigiri/sashimi and it is always very fresh and tasty. Their regular rolls are less impressive but still good. This is my go to sushi place!
