I recently tried this place because I had a Groupon. I'm not sure I would have otherwise. I am glad I checked it out though. They do have a good grab and go sandwich selection. I tried the curried chicken salad and on another visit had the chicken and avocado. Both were tasty, but not rave worthy. I did really enjoy the clam chowder and the asiago cheese soup. All in all, a great quick place to grab lunch. I eat at my desk a lot so this place is handy to have on rotation.

The soup was really good. My sandwich so so. I had a groupon and I was overcharged by a dollar. I will use my other groupon, and then go for soup only, as it is just that good.

Hello Saran-wrap! Okay, so the presentation leaves something to be desired. And that "something to be desired" includes the faded George Jetson interior--not to mention the fact that the awning sign is so faded that it's practically impossible to tell this place is still in business. But Stars succeeds in spite of all that, mainly because the sandwiches are smartly prepared and offer an eclectic enough variety. It's grab-and-go (so don't linger to soak in the garish purple decor) and everything still tastes fresh enough that it was obviously just wrapped. Essentially, it's an airport kiosk but without the airport prices and superior quality. Special hat tip to their creative sides, such as Thai noodles or a memorable dill potato salad. It's Indy's quietest little lunchtime institution.

I really like this place.... it's a small sandwich shop right up Delaware St. from the City-County building. The decor is all mirrory and kind of tacky, but the place has always been nice and quiet whenever I've stopped in. There are stools and tables, but I haven't seen many people actually dining in. There's a rack with a variety of ready-made salads along with sandwiches and wraps. I've had a good sampling of the latter and I've never been disappointed. With a bag of chips and an available fountain drink or coffee, any of them make a great light lunch. Nice place to grab a quick and not-too-heavy lunch. It has the misfortune of having to compete with the City Market right across the street but has good food, no crowds, and reasonable prices. Definitely work checking out if you work in the area.

They have a great lunch special!! $6 for a half sandwich (all delicious), soup, and a soda!

The sandwich was pretty good. They also have all sorts of sides like noodles in peanut sauce that were very good. You just walk in and pick a sandwich and maybe side out of their refrigerated shelves then go to the counter and pay for it. There are places to sit in there. The sandwich was a little dry.

Awesome little eatery. Sometimes I just really don't feel like dealing with the masses at the City Market, and Stars right across the street is the perfect solution. I recommend their egg salad and bacon sandwich, and the cold noodle side dish. It was nice to be able to park myself by the window and people watch as I ate. Very clean, very straightforward and prompt, and good food.

Stars' sandwiches are okay. I've had quite an array of them: The chicken salad, curry, hummus and black bean, and turkey with cranberry. The good thing about these salads is that the proteins are usually of top quality. The turkey and cranberry sandwich, for example, uses real turkey--not the pressed and formed kind. The chicken in the chicken salad--one of their best--is chunky and delicious. That said, sometimes their sandwiches can be less-than-substantial. A curried chicken sandwich with cashews on white bread goes in a flash, as does the hummus and black bean. Sometimes I feel like I could have made such sandwiches in five minutes at home. The thicker focaccia bread in the turkey and cranberry makes it one of the most substantial, so if you're hungry, go for that.

You really can't get a better sandwich anywhere during lunch hour downtown than you can at Stars. I first became hooked on the delightful black bean and hummos sammy, but my current obsession is the "V-8," which is packed with peppers, tomatoes, avocado and sunflower seeds. They have plenty of meat-ivorous options, along with egg salad and even PB&J on white for when you're missing mommy. Stars makes their sandwiches fresh in the morning and displays them wrapped in baskets so get there early if there's one you absolutely must have. (Though the guy behind the counter once kindly told me I could call ahead and ask them to hold one for me.) They use thick, but not crusty, breads, and have a nice sampling of chips, sides and interesting sodas (try a Goose Island ginger ale, for example). And, huzzah, it's not a chain! The only reason Stars doesn't grab five stars is because the decor, while serviceable, is nothing special. I usually don't find high tables and chairs, which is what they have here, really add to a place's ambiance. Just a small pet peeve, though.

The daily special of a half-sandwich and a cup of soup is a great deal at $6. The food is always fresh and they offer interesting flavors. Plus, the service is fast and the woman behind the counter is very friendly. Stars is quickly becoming one of my favorite lunch spots!

Lots of tasty veggie options, huge, fresh cookies, and good coffee. They have 2 of my favorite sammiches: curry chicken salad, and turkey on tomato foccacia. The curry chicken salad is slightly spicy, mellow, and good, full of big chunks of chicken. The turkey is on a tomato-y foccacia bun with pesto, provolone, romaine, and tomatoes, and will fill you up for the rest of the day. A bit pricey, but worth it for sandwiches that are different from the norm, well-made, and fresh.
