I was in town on business, and Soupremacy was right across the street from the hotel. As a vegan, it is not easy to find good soups- most have some kind of stock as the base. I had a bowl of the Casablanca Harira. It is amazing. Chickpeas, lentils and middle eastern spices. Highly recommended! They also make steel cut oats for breakfast- with many choices of toppings including fresh fruit. This is a great place- looked like a lot of fantastic meat-based soups as well.

I'm a sucker for soup. It's my second favorite food, after sushi. I love almost every variety and I'm always willing to try something new. When I saw a shop dedicated to soup was opening in Indy, I couldn't wait to try it. Unfortunately, I don't get downtown very often so I had to wait. I got a cup of the Thai coconut after sampling the Casablanca harira. Yum! And it came with a hunk of bread of my choosing. I chose wheat. There were good spices and great flavors. I did wish there were a few more veggies in it, but overall it was really good. A few of the soups I wanted were sold out for the day. I guess that's what you get when you come around 3 pm. Sitting on the monument while slurpin' soup was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon when I should have been working. I cannot wait to go back and get the trio- three six ounce soups for $6.25! My dream meal!

Perfect location! I am glad another LOCAL shop has popped up in the HEART of our city. I hope they give all those icky chains a run. I cannot really think of many other local spots on the Circle, sadly. The place is small and sleek. Supremely cozy. The service is good. The soup is great. The chicken velvet soup? I would go to a seedy neighborhood filled with fiends of all sorts to get to that soup.

Soupremacy is a welcomed addition to restaurants on the Circle. Like others have mentioned, this is a small shop and seating is sparse. If you do happen to grab a seat,I recommend grabbing a bar stool facing the window to people watch. Like the name implies, soup is the main thing on the menu; however, they did offer a few salads as well. The soups on the menu, 8 in all, are made fresh daily. While soup in many restaurants generally aren't gluten free, it was nice to know that Soupremacy had a few options on the day that I went. The soups are not labeled, but they were very helpful in determining the ingredients in each soup. The Potato & Leek soup was pretty good. It provided a welcomed warming and filling snack on a cold winter's day. If you have a gluten allergy or want to know what soups they are serving, I would recommend checking the website or call to ask. I definitely will be coming back and hopefully enjoying a cup of soup on the steps of the circle. I only wish Soupremacy was around when I was working off the circle.

Not a bad little place to grab lunch. I had the tomato bisque, potato and leek, and white bean. The tomato bisque was divine. The other soups were pretty good. I went with two coworkers and we all thought the soups were undersalted, but that is easily remedied. I was very excited about the breads, but I was disappointed. The baguette was so tough, I couldn't eat it alone. I had to tear bits off and soak them in the soup. The semolina was soft though, and delicious. While they have salads, they don't have sandwiches. When I have soups, I need a big grilled cheese to go with them. I would add a star if they had sandwiches.

To be fair, 3.5 stars is probably more accurate. Dangit, Yelp, and your whole star options! The location is fabulous, right off the Circle for prime people watching. The restaurant is cozy (read: tiny) and seats maybe a dozen people, but I'm hoping they offer outdoor seating as the weather gets warmer (hint hint!). The best seats in the house are along the window facing Market St. Sadly, I've had a hard time convincing dudes to dine here with me. "Soup's not a meal," they said. I call BS -- soup makes a delightful meal, especially the amazing trio option that allows you to nom on three varieties at once. Best. Idea. Ever. My favorites by far were the potato leek and roasted red pepper curry. A common theme was a need for salt and sometimes pepper (hence the lack of that half star -- would be a 4 otherwise). I also love the idea of local bread accompanying my soupy lunch, but ours was TOUGH. Tasty but practically needed a knife to dig into it. The folks working here were delightful and happy to explain anything on the menu. That sneaky man working the register almost talked me into a slice of homemade key lime pie. I had self control once but am definitely trying that pie next time. All in all, Soupremacy is a great little place to grab lunch and avoid those gross chains that are so prevalent downtown. Add a little salt to those soups, get Amelia's to bake softer bread, and add some bistro tables outside, and this place would be KILLER.

I rode my bike down to the Circle today from Meridian Kessler and read great things about Soupremacy on Yelp, so decided to pop in for a light lunch. I got the trio for $6.50 which lets you sample three small servings of soup and your choice of bread. The young guy at the counter obviously LOVES his job there and was enthusiastic and helpful and I appreciated his great attitude about his job and the restaurant. He is not a 'soup nazi'. Cold Asparagus and Lemon soup. It was delicious, well balanced, and light. I would definitely have it again. My second choice was a Carrot Soup with a kind of asian fusion twist. It looked like traditional vegetable soup with small chunks of carrots swimming in a tomato broth. The ginger and other spices gave it a Thai twist. Light, but satisfying. My third choice was the Chicken Velvet Soup which wasn't exactly like the old L.S. Ayres version I once enjoyed in the legendary downtown department store's Mezzanine cafeteria back in the eighties. It was thick and had some nice chunks of tender chicken breast in it, but missed the mark because the flour used in the roux wasn't cooked long enough and the taste of flour over powered the soup. It was still good enough that I ate it all anyway.

Disappointing. Okay but not worth going back to. I've had the Spicy Carrot soup and the Black Bean soup. Both were mostly broth and sort of expensive. The soups include a small slice of bread. The focaccia was very oily but otherwise fine. I can whip up better homemade soup at home in under 15 minutes and next time will. That or go to that soup and salad chain...

I love the relaxed vibe of this place. fetching lunch alone can feel lonely here there see so many folks around it is hard to feel alone. GF: they have a good selection of options there was even a cream based soup made with cashews. Sadly there is no GF bread substitute. I usually make a new friends by passing the bread off to someone else. The best news is one can order chicken no noodle soup. Yeah for GF comfort food. (Same with the minestrone) Veg. Just like with gluten free you have tons of options. Even a few vegan options. Speed is important on a lunch break an supremacy delivers. The soup is really good and it doesnt seem to be packed with sugar. One can actually taste the quality of the ingredients.

The salads are incredible, and the bagel was the best I've ever had. My favorite thing about Soupremacy was how friendly the staff were, and how wiling they were to explain everything to a first-timer. I will definitely seek them out again.

I walked over here on lunch from the TEDx talks and was surprised to see how packed it was! The line was long enough that I had time to determine what I wanted to try and opted for the pumpkin chili with a baguette. The lady informed me it comes with onion and sour cream and I opted to hold the onion. It's a tight squeeze to get through and pay for your meal, much less get a seat, as there were none open. I grabbed my food and walked back over to my meetings and found a table there. The soup was good, there was a lot of cheese, which I guess I didn't expect, but it was filling and hit the spot. I would definitely try the trio when I had more time and space to enjoy it.

Back again to the frozen north, ordering a big bowl of chili to ward off the chills. It's fantastic! Compared to Texas, where I come from, it's more like chili soup, but personally, I like it better! The bits of vegetables and beans make for a more balanced meal than Texas chili, which is all about meat. I love this version, and the prize winning wheat bread was a perfect addition. I love this place!

Soupremacy - a fantastic idea, but not well-executed. As a soup and salad lover, I was so psyched to have this place open up close to where I work. I think the fact that I wanted to like it so much is why I have been here a few times. I feel like I have a well-informed opinion by now. My first time in was during the summer. I wanted to try everything, so I settled on getting a trio of sample-sized soups and a 1/2 size salad. The total was around $12, which is more than I would normally spend on a weekday lunch. The salad was awesome. Chock full of goodness, lots of toppings, and well worth the price. In fact, every salad I have gotten has been good. But, if you're getting a salad as an entree, it gets pretty pricey as you have to pay to add meat to the large size. The soups were...okay. The gazpacho was awesome, but the other two were just watery and brothy. Definitely not something that would keep you full for a few hours, and definitely not worth the price. So, I tried again. About 4 more times. Each time, I came out feeling like I spent too much, and feeling hungry. Unless you order a creamy, non-healthy soup, the soups just don't have much stuff in them. It's almost like they weren't stirred up before serving and you're just getting the broth from the top of the pot. I'm writing this review while eating Soupremacy, which is what prompted me to get on Yelp. I ordered a trio, again. I thought with how cold it was out, soup would just be a great choice. I wanted some hearty stuff, so I went with all choices that had meat listed in the description. Here goes: Lemongrass soup - I couldn't wait to try it! The description sounded like a delicious Thai soup with complex flavor. The soup itself is completely broth, with one slice of lemon (not lemongrass) in it. NO chicken, as listed. Not one chunk of anything else, at all. Slightly flavored, watery broth. I had to add salt to it to bring out any flavor. Belfast Beef Stew - mmm, sounds hearty, right? Nope. Again, not even one piece of meat in my portion. The soup smelled awesome, but didn't taste like anything. I had to add a good amount of salt to bring out any flavor. The broth, small pieces of carrots, and small pieces of potato were not going to be something that would fill me up all day. Cheeseburger Paradise - this one was fine. It reminded me of something I could make at home, but never would because of all of the butter, cream, and cheese that this seems to have in it. But at least I didn't have to add salt! I do want to say that the staff is friendly, and the Amelia's Semolina bread is outstanding. I just wish the soup was anything special. For $6-7 for an average sized bowl of soup, I won't be going back.

Came here at 6:30 PM on a Tuesday and it was basically empty. I tried the Chicken Velvet, but after the employee recommendation, I ordered the Lobster Bisque and a small Vonnegut wedge salad. The salad was nice. Lettuce wedge, halved little tomatoes, sliced cucumber and crumbled blue cheese. The lobster bisque wasn't anything unique. It was creamy with a subtle taste of lobster. I enjoyed it, but was hoping for a little "more." The big disappointment for me was the the fact that the soup was just creamy. No little bits of lobster, or anything for that matter. It wasn't garnished with anything. I'd like to see a little creativity to give the soup some additional character.

There were too many delicious options to choose just one, so husband and I each got the trio---6 ounces of three different soups for $6.25. While I don't generally love tomato soup, their tomato bisque was life-changing. So delicious. We also tried the beef and barley, potato leek, chicken noodle, and tuscan white bean---all varying between good and fabulous. Also, the awesome bread you get with the soup is from Amelia's---I love local! They have a few breakfast options (oatmeal, muffins, bagels), a couple of sides, a few desserts, and main salads that ALL sound really good. They also have a sign that says to bring in your own soup recipes---they might make the menu. How awesome is that? This place is tiny (only bar seating for 10 ish people), but is perfect for this never-ending winter we're struggling through. I don't know if they will, but a couple of outdoor tables when it's warm would be nice---great location for people-watching.

It is questionable whether they put crack in this soup. Hands down the best tomato soup I have ever had in my life. They literally just purée fresh vegetables and herbs into the most delicious most fresh soup you will ever taste and probably one of the best things you can put into your body. My friend got the "French onion" soup (no cheese though) and said the same thing. Were only in town for a few days but will be back again!

I am a soup lover. My friends always make fun of me because if soup is on the menu, I order it every time. That being said, I wasn't as impressed as I expected. I had the chicken tortilla and it didn't send me over the moon. It didn't even send me back for a second bowl. My friend had the lobster bisque, and it was pureed so much you couldn't really even tell there was lobster in there. Loved the atmosphere. Cute place. I will be back to give it another chance, on a warm weather day when I can take advantage of the outside seating!

In a word, delicious. For $10 I received a cup of tomato basil cheddar soup, a delicious salad (with avocado, dark green lettuce, nice round grape tomatoes, blue cheese, and a variety of dressings), a piece of thick and crusty bread, and a drink. We sat outside, the weather was beautiful, and the food was great. The different soups and salads I saw on other tables looked tasty as well.

Such a darling place with EXCELLENT soup, bread and "soupreme" service!! I work for an airline and have told all my FA friends that this place is a must on long overnights in Indianapolis!! Oh yeah, the donuts are to die for!!

I'm confused. Being a soup fanatic, I really had high hopes for this place. The interior is cozy and cute with a nice vibe-very busy at lunch hour for obvious reasons. First off, the menu online is completely different from what they actually had so I had to track down my coworker and explain the options over the phone. A simple note saying that menu items change would have been helpful. I tasted the lemongrass soup and it had some decent flavor but didn't have a lot of depth. I wanted something heartier so I ordered the pozole and the Seol Seaweed. The pozole was just...ok. it was not rich and robust which is what I expect out of pozole. The seaweed soup had a elaborate description that led me to believe that it was going to be delicious....but instead all I got was a flavorless broth and a cup full of seaweed. It honestly tasted like water with a hint of seaweed. I think you guys forgot a few ingredients??? It needed salt at the very least. Neither soup had any depth whatsoever. This place must have it's good and bad days. I suggest the staff taste every pot before serving. I'm still confused, and now sad because I'm still hungry. The foccacia was good and the staff were nice.

Great Service and the soup is always amazing. If you love Beef and Barley soup i highly recommend Soupremacy's. Everything is fresh and you can truly taste the quality, my co workers and are totally addicted. So lucky to have this place right down the street from my office!

Soupremacy had 8 soups on the menu when I visited, naturally I wanted to try them all. Luckily they have an option to try a trio of soups for $6.25. You get 6 oz. of each which doesn't sound like a lot, but it's plenty, especially if you get bread with it. I got Beef & Barley, Potato & Leek, and Roasted Red Pepper & Curry. The Potato & Leek was not as hearty as I was hoping it would be. There were only 6 chunks of potato in my 6 oz. cup. The Beef & Barley was good and hearty. It had plenty of beef and barley with carrots, onions, celery and parsley. The Red Pepper & Curry was the best of the three. It was thick and creamy and full of flavor. I should probably sleep on it for a day before making a statement like this, but i think it is now my favorite bread dipping soup.

Finally was able to stop into the latest addition to the circle. Most people cite this as a lunch establishment but for those of us that live downtown, it's perfect for dinner! The people that work here are so nice! They let me sample a soup before purchasing it. I was trying to decide between the Lentil (a fav standby soup of mine) and the Roasted Red Pepper & Curry. I decided to try the Roasted Red Pepper & Curry. It was knock your socks off good - creamy with just a hint of curry. The soup comes with bread (Amelias I'm guessing) and I had the semolina. The crust was perfect and the inside was soft. I'll definitely be coming back!

What a great place to grab a healthy meal for lunch or in the evening before the symphony that's around the corner. The service is friendly and quick. The food is fresh, and flavorful. You can taste the tomatoes in the tomato bisque! I'll be back often to try the classics and something new.

Thanks for pointing me in this direction Yelpers! I was visiting from out of town and wanted a simple healthy dinner. I had the vegan Casablanca Harira soup with semolina bread and the endless summer salad. The soup and the bread were amazing and I enjoyed my salad too. A home run! If I worked in downtown Indy I would be here all the time! Yummmmm.

I was very surprised at the prices for the bowls of soup. The soup that I had was very watery...seems like they like to cut costs. They even skimp on the size of the piece of bread that comes with the soup. I will not be going back.

  • Jill M.

If you enjoy paying a lot of money for a very brothy soup--then this is your place! OK, that was a little rude. My bad. Seriously, I LOVE soup, but I just ordered a Turkey Pumpkin CHILI. The flavor is OK, but it's so watery! I have one piece of meet and maybe two white beans (hello, fill it with beans--those are cheap and what makes it a chili!). So, I'm going to head to potbelly's and get a second lunch bc my first one was all water. Bummed. I have had their salads before and they are a decent portion and pretty tasty. I'm done buying soups here though--just a disappointment every time. So much cheaper and tastier to just make your own and freeze a bunch! Hydrated and hungry...

  • Sunah K.

So many choices! good thing they let you sample. I had the Chicken velvet, Mediterranean veggie and creamy red pepper. The creamy ones were my faves. They also have small breakfast and lunch eats. The seating area is tiny, so prob better for a stop n go meal, maybe to take on the circle.

Cozy spot with pleasing décor, but the soup..oy vey. After excitedly seeing an option of Belfast Beef Stew, I ordered it with a side of wheat bread. Firstly, I presumed a stew would be a thick and rich offering, however, what I got was murky water, with tiny, miniscule bits and pieces of potatoes, carrots and beef. I would reckon the ratio of broth to ingredients easily at 5:1. The potatoes were rubbery and frozen tasting, along with the carrots. Why such insignificant, 1/4" cubes of veggies and meat? Very reminiscent of canned soup. The six or eight pieces of meat were tough and flavorless. The soup was inadequately seasoned. At one point, I listlessly craved any canned, commercial version of a beef stew in lieu of this offering. All this said, my dining partner ordered the tomato bisque, which was fantastic. My point is simply how could such an awful stew end up next to such a lovely bisque? Anyway, for the relatively high cost and lack of desirability, I won't be coming back.

This place doesn't feature my favorite soups downtown... That was Cafe Zuppa's before it closed down this past March. Boooooo. I do love most of the soups at soupremacy, Definitely one of the better places to grab a tomato bisque or brocooli cheddar. They aren't as thick and creamy as Id like them to be but still enjoyable. Next on my list is the Lentil!

I have been wanting to try out Supremacy for a long time. Today was the day and I am sorry I waited so long. Really friendly service, and a big variety of freshly made soups. I decided on the trio flight and It was a hard choice, but I finally decided on the Chicken Velvet, Vichyssoise and the Corn and Cashew. I was not disappointed in any of them. I will be back and often!

I had been craving soup for a few days and decided to check out Soupremacy. Wow! The chili was delicious and it might have been the best I've ever had. My husband had the lobster bisque and loved it too. It was small but cozy inside and the staff was super nice. Definitely will be going back!

I absolutely recommend Soupremacy. I was excited when this new addition to the Circle popped up. Just as they settled in, I stopped by to test it out. I'm glad I did! I love it. This little soup place is now a part of my work lunch rotation. The customer service is always outstanding and the soups are even better. My top three soups right now are Potato Leek, Beef Barley and Chili. Ok, one more, Tomato Bisque. I'm ready for warmer days as I'm excited to try their scrumptious sounding salads. Did I mention the customer service?! Yeah, I know I did. It's worth bringing it up again. Everyone there is so friendly and very patient when I am a bit indecisive. :) About a month ago, I commented to Soupremacy on Facebook about my deep love for their Potato Leek soup. Well, yesterday they made sure to comment to my page that they were going to have my favorite soup the next day. That was super thoughtful! I hope you try it and I know you'll love it!

Located in the former location of Teapots and Treasures, Soupremacy offers a nice selection of soups along with a couple of salad selection. I tried the tomato brusque which was hands down the best tomato soup I've ever had. The soup is delectable with a nice sweetness. Topped with smoked Gouda and sour cream, it has over-the-top richness that is really wonderful. The big bowl of soup is more filling than it looks!

Really enjoyed this quaint, local space right off of The Circle in Downtown Indy. The lentil soup was hearty and filling - perfect for a chilly winter day. I love that you can pick your portion size - whether you want a cup, bowl, big bowl or trio of 3 minis. Left feeling satisfied, but not overly stuffed. Comes with locally baked bread (only wish there was non-gluten option such as fruit). Friendly and quick - in and out!

Visiting Indy again, my daughter and I stumbled across this new place on the Circle and it was wonderful! Friendly service and the chance to sample the soups, which are all made by a chef from scratch every day. If they run out, that's it for the day! My daughter had the last bowl of Chicken Noodle and a great salad. I tried the Chicken Velvety and was sold at the first bite! Supposedly, this used to be on the menu at the restaurant in L.S. Ayers and the chef has recreated the recipe. Wow! Along with a good piece of crusty baguette, this soup is perfect for cold days! We plan on returning! You should make it a destination!

Found this awesome spot on Yelp while searching for a place to get a decent salad for lunch. Their Chicken Velvet soup is amazing! Creamy and flavorful without being too heavy and they are very generous with chicken! I also ordered a Kerouac Blues salad (minus Bleu Cheese) and it was really tasty! You get a choice of bread with the order and I tried the 'Semolina'. It was also really delicious! I'd never had this type of bread before, but you could definitely taste the herbs in the bread. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place (in the winter, I suspect this will become a favorite haunt of mine). The staff is also extremely friendly!

This is a great place to grab lunch right on the circle! They have a variety of soups and sizes that come with bread or crackers. I had the soup of the day - posole which was fabulous. It's a smaller space but it has some bar type seating and out door seating. My coworkers kept asking what smelled so good. They also have salads which I have not tried.

We are in Indy for a conference and wanted a light dinner--saw rave reviews on Yelp, so we headed over. It was great! I had the soup trio--the spicy carrot soup was particularly good, and the chili and onion soup were also good. My husband had the cold corn chowder and loved it. Everything is freshly made, without preservatives etc. wish we lived in town--it would be a great place to get dinner-to-go! And inexpensive, too!

I was so happy to see this place open up downtown! I was even happier once I tasted their soup. I had the lentil soup, topped with rosemary infused oil. It was delicious. I will be coming back for more. They had a great looking menu with several salads I would like to try as well. Thanks, Soupremacy!

Soupremacy. Supreme soup. Soup supreme. All of these are befitting. I've been there about four times, maybe five. The last two were during their early opening hours as I waited for my bus downtown. The soups are just great. Plain and simple. I've ordered the chicken velvet almost every time and then there was another soup I tried during my first experience that was some type of Thai broth-like soup and it was INCREDIBLE!!!!! But the chicken velvet???!!!!! What can be said about the Chicken Velvet? Oh I got it: Soup Supreme. I love the way it's so thick and pureed to perfection. The huge chunks of chicken remind you that you are not a vegan and don't want to be (no disrespect intended to those who are). I want to eventually try every one of their soups because I believe them all to have the potential to be greatness in my mouth. And I want that. I want greatness in my mouth. I know that sounds borderline you-know-what-ish, but hey.....if it's warm hot soup from a place that basically only sells soup (they sell donuts and I think salads too?) and have included SUPREME in their name, shouldn't it be a mouthful of goodness?? I think so too. And it is. Soupremacy is especially different because again, how often do you see an eatery that sells predominantly soup? But how many people out here LOOOOVE soup ??? ME!!! I love soup !! I love it in every season!! Soup and chili are not food items that I consider winter-time only. If done correctly, they are year round gifts for the stomach growls! Soupremacy has a friendly staff, a celebrity filled wall of cool pictures and decor and a nice selection of soup to choose from. I have no complaints except that I want some right now and I wish they would always offer you cold soup if theirs isn't ready for serving. They did that once and I sure took a bowl to work, heated it up and it was just as good as it would have been had it come piping hot out of their large steel containers. They also offer a free drink for checking in. I was in a rush so I didn't get mine and I hope it's still available next time, but hey, as long as I can have a bowl of the chicken velvet, we are all good. They also offer a variety of breads to come w/your soup. If you have not been, please go check them out! And bring me a chicken velvety !

What can I say? Their name tells you what they do, but in my opinion it overstates it a bit. They do make soup here but it's questionable how soupreme it is. It's good. No doubt about it. But not exceptional. When a restaurant sells only soup and the accoutrements (salad and bread) one would expect them to do it better than anyone else. It's their specialty. But it's not true here. I've eaten here a few times and some of their soups are about as good as I could hope for. Others are not. Take the lobster bisque for example. There were zero chunks of lobster. The soup was tasty but lacked salt, and a tad on the thin side. I've had much better bisque here in town. The best is at Bravo. I will say the semolina bread is delicious. And I love the idea of this place and the fact that it's local. I'm just somewhat disappointed in their signature dish - soup. I'm also not happy that the only place to sit for those eating in are the tall bar chairs. But maybe that's just me. I would give them 3-1/2 if I could.

So we had been wanting to try this place for awhile...picking up tix for an upcoming Indians game at the box office we stopped by. It was a quite Saturday in the store but busy downtown. After driving around looking for a parking spot, we made our way in the store. It had this warm dark vibe, but was welcoming. We were offered samples of any soup on the menu, the guy behind the counter was very accommodating. He explained the various sizes, the salads, and breads. We each ordered the soup trio I selected the lobster bisque, pot pie, and kale with sausage soups. I picked the baggett bread and a half endless summer salad. The baggett was soft and yummy. The endless summer salad was fresh and tasted delicious. It was full of sliced pears, strawberries, dried cranberries, walnuts, spinach and goat cheese. There are several dressings to pick. I was unable to eat all of soups becuse I was full from all the goodness. The Kale with sausage soup was light but wholesome with potatoes and Italian sausage. The lobster bisque was creamy but not enough lobster meat for me. I would like more meat. Each soup has assigned toppings from cheese, sour cream, onions, and such. We will be back.

Light, delicious, but filling! I love this place. It's great for lunch not too expensive. People who work here are nice! You can try three soups and a salad or do a half soup/salad combo. I recommend the lobster bisque and Kerouac salad! Tip: If you check-in you can get a free drink!

Came in on a hot hot Labor Day, but the soup was so good I didn't mind eating it even in the hot weather. We had the lobster bisque, velvet chicken and the summer salad. Everything was delicious and freshly made. My soup came with homemade wheat bread and the salad had a lime chipotle dressing that was awesome!

A gaggle of expiring groupons + the chance to sample *all* of the selections = SOUP-A-PALOOZA! I was *so* pumped to go in and use up my groupons all in one shot. Yes, I was "that girl" (::hangs head::). In fact, I wanted to give the staff at Soupremacy 5 stars just for having to deal with me. However, after my overall experience and tastings, I could not justly do so. Please hear me out. I did my research on the website, picked the soups I hoped to get, and stopped in after work on a weeknight to get my soupy goodness. I was alone at the counter (thank goodness) to place my order -- but noticed that only ONE soup from the website was being offered that day -- so I just threw plans out the window and went on. I was asked early on if I had groupons to use -- they were about to expire so I probably wasn't the only procrastinator. Upon hearing this, I was informed that I had to use each one separately and the dude staff working told the cute gal behind the counter to "ring it up however". This led to a tedious dance of ordering in a rush and paying cash for the difference for each order. A pain, yes...but a pain I was willing to endure for what I hoped would be an amazing dinner. I am still not quite sure how a few of the exact same orders ended up costing me very different amounts, but whatever. Of note, I specified IMMEDIATELY that my husband has a true dairy allergy and he would be sharing dinner with me, so I asked for suggestions on what to get that would not kill him. I must mention that the gentleman behind the counter took great care in placing cheeses on the side and omitting things like sour cream to accommodate this request. Star bump for having options that are vegan and dairy free...major star cut for not labeling which soup was which to differentiate once home. Major fail. I mean, come on -- there were *9* of them. Luckily I could separate out which ones were cream based and we kind of guessed on the rest. Husband is still alive, so that is the good news. The FOOD: I decided that I would do 3 "Trios" (3 - six ounce soups for like $7.50 ish?) which allowed me to try all of the soups they had available at the time (9 total). There were no cold soups offered at my visit, but it was chilly outside, so I can understand this. They loaded me up (all in one bag) and I headed home -- whistling some version of the happy soup song or something. Once home, I took my goodies inside and started to unpack them ... then I realized that in stacking 9 soups and 2 salads and bread and stuff, they had all smashed through the lids on the bottom 2 soups ... which were now on the floor of my car, down my coat, and had left a drip trail through my house. Awesome. I continued to unpack and realized that I was missing a bread and things weren't labeled, but I kept trying to smile. Then we began the tasting process. Yikes. The salads were good -- despite the avocado not being ripe on the Kerouac. Dressings were tasty. The *only* soup that I can say I thought was really good was the Tomato Bisque. Perhaps it was the fresh gouda on top that added the depth I was looking for. Who knows. Second favorite was the Chicken Velvet -- probably because I just knew it was thick, melty, cheesy sin and no kinda good for me. I can absolutely say that the Lobster Bisque was terrible. Like sour-tasting, no lobster having, curdled type of terrible. Yuck. I did find one lump that I hoped would be lobster -- but it was just a curdle of something sour and horrible. Ugh. The rest of the soups kind of blended together after that. The hubs loved the Onion Soup and liked the Chicken Tortilla. Both tasted watery and just meh to me. Nothing special. In fact, that became a theme for dinner that night -- nothing special. Also in the line up was a Pozole (my latino fellas do it better), a Black Bean something-or-rather, chili, and some kind of "stew". The "side" of potato salad for $2.50... wow. Pricey. Bland. I appreciate that there was no mayo in it and the blue cheese was in a tray on top for later mixing, but there was feta IN it, so not sure why the cheeses were all separated. The bread was possibly the best part of the meal. The Semolina from Amelia's bakery was perfect dipped in the Pozole "broth". I really really really wanted to LOVE this place. I really love soup. Perhaps I had this place too hyped in my mind -- or I had it up on a soup pedestal pre-visit. I mean, 4 stars on Yelp with 60+ reviews is great, right? My gripe is this -- if you are going to base a business around one namesake thing -- make it amazing. Make it ALL amazing. Sure, you can't please everyone and not everyone has the same tastes...but for the love of soup -- at least make it stand out somehow. In a good way. I ended my "meal" questioning if I could have made a really good batch of soup for less than the $35 price tag of dinner from Soupremacy. Sad. End rant

Upon my first visit when I purchased a soup, I got to the register and noticed they are selling Rocket 88 donuts. I looked up at one of the employees behind the counter and said, "It's like the manifestation of irony- selling healthy-for-you soups and donuts." He politely laughed at my dumb joke. On a serious note, this place is great as a healthy alternative for lunch. I was hesitant at first to spend $6 on a cup of soup and slice of bread due to my doubtful nature that it would be filling. After one taste of the Spinach Piquant and Focaccia bread, I was like, "what worries?" Absolutely delicious, I must say, and it was the best kind of filling because I wasn't left feeling so stuffed I was lethargic for the remainder of the working afternoon. All-in-all, I rate this as a better than decent place to stop and grab lunch downtown. I understand other people find it to be over-rated and less than satisfying compared to other places they have visited with the same agenda, which I am sure is the case. However, its positives as a time-saving, tummy-slimming, taste-driven, fairly-priced lunch option outweigh any negatives when you think about how many burger and fries joints line downtown.

The Lobster bisque soup is to die for! The only reason this is not a 5 star is because there isn't much seating room inside and you are crammed up next to other people.

Great soup, salad, and service. The staff provided excellent recommendations including the tomato soup and summer salad. The bread choices were all local and the white bread was especially delicious when paired with the soup. Staff were friendly and the outdoor seating provides a close-up view of the monument. Would definitely return.

I was over the moon when I found out Soupremacy was in the first floor of my office building. I spend far more money than I'd care to admit filling my belly with artfully crafted soups at lunch, but I can't feel too guilty supporting a local business and eating quality food at the same time. The staff is super friendly, and they always let you taste soups before making a selection. The line can get long during lunch hours, but it moves quickly. The space is small, and I usually get it to go, but during warm months they have outdoor seating which is lovely, and limited indoor seating. The salads are good too, so a combo isn't a bad way to go. I have loved the Avolemono soup, the white bean delizia, and of course the chicken velvet. I haven't had a soup I didn't like.

Was amazing, wanted something light and had the tomato and Thai soup with French baguette. Was delicious. The soup was full of flavor and the bread was fresh. Would definitely go again. Servers were very friendly

I had a taste of this new local restaurant at the Happy Hour at the Symphony last month... Since then I couldn't wait to see their location. They are right off of Monument Circle downtown. Along with the welcoming atmosphere, the staff was really kind. I had a cup broccoli cheddar soup with a baguette. I paid a little over $3, which is amazing since a lot of the ingredients are local. Next time I think I will have a cold soup. I enjoyed trying those. ;)

I tried out Soupremacy's sampler trio during a calm weekend lunch visit. For $6.25, I received three (3) larger-than-expected portions of soup, along with my choice of baguette from Amelia's Bread in Fletcher Place. All three soups were fresh-tasting and delicious, ranking from most favorite: 1) tomato-gouda bisque (avoided the too-rich bisque trap), 2) roasted red pepper & curry, 3)Harira soup (vegan w. eggplant, carrots & other veggies). I am known for typically "amplifying" my food with tons of black pepper, smoked salt, red pepper or loads of Sriracha; I found these soups were seasoned well and I did not have to add any salt or pepper...a huge coup, in my opinion. Many of the soups come with the option of sour cream or basil oil drizzle, parsley, and/or extra fresh parmesan, if you prefer. They also serve some delicious sounding salads, Deep River potato chips (rosemary & olive oil=perfection), and as reviewers have noted, Intelligentsia coffee. Baguettes are meant to be a little chewy; the "duh" solution is to tear up the delicious Amelia's baguette/bread into chunks and let it soak in your delicious soup. I read a recent IndyStar article where the owner and executive chef highlighted Soupremacy's method of determining its menu offerings; the soup recipes fight it out based on popularity, and the best soups are more frequently rotated in. They also consider customer requests for new recipes and recipe improvements. I think this interactive outreach to customers is great and attests to them wanting to serve the best-tasting quality product. The space is small, but who cares on a fair weather day, when you can just sit outside on the Circle. I plan to visit more often, even in the warmer weather: Soupremacy's take on soups overcomes the hot temperatures.

I don't get the reviews here. The soups I had were not great at all. Flavorless and watery pretty much sums it up. I was only offered crackers or a bread upgrade for 50 cents. The piece of bread was less than half the size of a deck of cards. Embarrassing to charge more for that. The Belfast Beef was a horrendous representation of an Irish stew.

Love this place. The two people behind the counter were helpful and friendly. The soup was served hot and fast. On a cold night in downtown Indy, this was a very welcome option when searching for vegan or vegetarian dinners after 6:00pm. Based on the helpful Yelp review below, i ordered a TRIO. With some bread and oyster crackers, I found the trio and a drink of iced tea to be filling. I don't think you can wrong experimenting and the trio makes it that even if one is not your fav, you can just move to the next one. This is the perfectl restaurant for those with commitment issues. If i lived close by, this would be a go-to spot.

For some reason I always forget about this place at lunchtime, but I wish I wouldn't. Soupremacy is a great place to go for a quick lunch with a friendly staff. I almost exclusively get the trio - I want to try as many soups as possible in one lunch! But, in fairness, the salads are great too. I think the Tomato Bisque may be my favorite, especially with the gouda. Yum. I wasn't a fan of the Chicken Tortilla, but, not their fault, just personal preference and I know not to get it again. Definitely recommend this place if you are in Downtown Indy and need a spot for lunch.

Coming from Denver to Indianapolis I was hoping downtown would offer some unique food options. This wasn't really the case. Everything I pulled up on yelp had only 3 stars, and they were all chain restaurants that I have already been to. I pulled up Soupremacy and the review average was a little higher and I had never heard of it before so I gave it a shot. The staff was very nice and I like how they give you samples. The place is intimate and in a very favorable location near historic downtown. Unfortunately I really did not like the food here. My wheat bread tasted really sour and the soup was very fattening. The Lobster Bisque was the best, but just very fatty and creamy, not much variety in flavor. The chicken velvet soup was kind of sour and had hardly any chicken. Maybe my taste is just different than other reviewers, I prefer my soup to have veggies and meat in it. Here I just felt like I was eating heated flavored heavy cream.

I've been here a few times and each time I've been a little underwhelmed with my experience. I've sampled most of their soups (you can try whatever you want before coming to a decision) and I haven't found anything spectacular. Everything's passable, hence the A-OK. If I need a quick meal and a coworker suggests Soupremacy, I'd be on board but I wouldn't seek it out myself. My go to soup at places like this is usually broccoli cheddar (Soup Box in Chicago, Panera, etc), but it doesn't have a lot of flavor here. It's almost as if it's been watered down. The seating in the shop itself is pretty confined and won't accommodate a large group. Their patio seating is a nice touch though if you can find space, and their Kerouac Blues salad (romaine, blue cheese, tomatoes, avocado, cucumbers, bacon) is pretty tasty.

Great soup! Not much more that needs to be said, but a couple things to keep in mind for first timers (like I was). They have a cool option for the soups where you can order 3 mini-soups so you can try different kinds versus having to buy a couple "small" soups. They call it the Trio. They're also very generous with allowing you to sample. A business associate with whom I was with took full advantage of that! I had the lobster bisque and Vonnegut wedge. Both were very good. I know next time to get a larger size of the soup!

You had me at duck bacon!!Wow - Imaginative & creative ingredients! This place is awesome! Was just in town for an overnite but will be telling my fellow flight attendants about this fantastic locally owned (not a chain) place. Lobster Bisque is sooo delicious. I got 2 more soups and a salad and all so Yummy. Might have to bid this overnite just to eat here again!!

Soup was amazing! The gentleman working behind the counter was courteous and incredibly helpful. My oldest child spilled some soup on herself and he offered up both wet and dry cloths to help in the cleanup. I could not ask for more, period!

I only had the salad. It was good, though way more lettuce than the other fixings. Haven't yet tried the soup, but my friend's soup looked amazing. Good selection of soups, hot and cold. I'll be back to try those.

This is just the cutest little place. On a day where soup is the only thing that will quench your craving, Soupremacy has everything you need! I got the trio of soups where you get a flight of 3 6oz soups for only $6. The hardest decision for me was which 3 I was going to choose. They all look and smell sooo good! I decided on the tomato bisque, chicken noodle, and broccoli cheddar. Each of them were delicious, but my favorites were the tomato and broccoli cheddar. The chicken noodle wasn't as hearty as I would have liked, but it still warmed me up. I had a piece of bread with them as well which was great for dipping ;) This place is very small, maybe 2-3 tables, but the best place to sit is by the window facing the street. Great for people watching and it's just off the circle, so there's usually a lot going on. I went with two of my girlfriends for lunch and we really didn't want to leave because it was so cozy, but alas at some point you have to continue on with your day.

I tried this place out when I was sick for weeks and couldn't keep anything down but soup. It was heaven on earth that they deliver because I was definitely incapable of leaving the house. On top of that, you can also order online which is a HUGE plus because I hate talking to people (and I love when a restaurant realizes this is 2014 and we do everything online!) On to the soups: I love them! They are great quality, VERY delicious, unique, and I love that the breads are from IN bakeries. I didn't give them 5 stars because I do think they are a bit pricey (I mean, no matter how great it is, its still just soup), but that hasn't stopped me from buying soup there even when I am healthy! This is a great place, and would definitely recommend :)

The highly anticipated trip to the new soup biz off of Monument Circle known as "Soupremacy" finally happened. Tidbits of information that brought a smile to my face during our hour-long lunch visit: -they use local bread prepared by Amelia's Bakery in Fletcher Place - highly recommend the Semolina if you're into a seedy and flavorful hunk o' bread. -bar seating is available for approximately 8 to 10 diners. I especially like the bar that faces onto Market Street and the sidewalk. Once it gets warmer, nabbing a cold soup like Gazpacho and picnicking on the Monument would be ideal given the limited amount of space in here. -For those of us who want to have a little bit of *this* and a little bit of *that* they offer the trio option with three small servings of soup and a slice of fresh bread or oyster crackers -sampling the soup before purchasing is available -they sell Intelligentsia coffee -Based on my trio soup experience I would like to offer two nods to the flavorful lentil soup and creamy butternut squash topped with sour cream and a hint of nutmeg (it's dessert...in a bowl). Overall, a great experience especially with this being their third week on the scene. Can't wait to see what's in store! Maybe some off the cuff options like borscht, spring pea, carrot, and so on? Why that'd be lovely.

Apparently I'm going through an intense soup phase this winter... Thank you Snowmageddon, Snowpocalypse, and all other Snow related nicknames for this winter. Apparently in an inherent search for warmth my body yearns for soup, and coffee, and all things warm. This journey for warmth led me and two of my friends here one day on our lunch break. We read reviews and loved the location, so we landed ourselves with window seats and delicious soup. I had the Tomato soup, the onion soup, and the broccoli cheddar soup. I saved the broccoli for last, as it tends to be my favorite soup... but was taken away to a wonderland of delight by the tomato soup and it will be the soup that I go back for. All three were delicious, and the sampling trio is the perfect solution for those of us who struggle with making decisions. And to top off the amazing food, the location is perfection. It's close proximity to the circle allows for prime people watching opportunities. We got lucky finding seats right by the window and it certainly made for an even more entertaining lunch! Soupremacy is a must try in the downtown food circle!

Soup, Soup, and more Soup! Soooo...where could you go wrong there? :) Definitely on my top three lunch hotspots on the circle, mainly for their soup trio option for those days when just one soup won't cut it. And so many options! I opted for all cold soups because it was pretty toasty during my visit, but there's never a shortage of good things to try when you stop in. There's a great ambiance about this little joint, and it's a corral of homey, mixed with hipster, mixed with that little touch of Indiana that we all love. There's a cute little spot out front if people watching is your thing, but if not there is limited seating inside. Looking forward to the winter months, because I have a feeling Soupremacy is going to be a good place for a cold day's lunch!

I want to love this place, great concept but my first experience was less than stellar. I sampled the Italian Wedding Day soup and liked it so ordered a bowl to the tune of a total of $7.03 for a 16 oz bowl. That's two cups of soup which isn't a lot. Seems pricey for soup. When I got home to enjoy my soup for lunch, it had one tiny meatball in it and the pasta was large pieces, similar to a rigatoni. Just disappointing. Ok it comes with a chunk of Amelia's bread which was better than my soup. Doubt I will be back. Now I am headed to the freezer to defrost some good homemade chicken noodle. The pic is of all the pasta which I didn't eat because it was gummy.

Absolutely delicious. I had onion soup, which was flavorful and not over salted, as so many are. A rich, beautiful beef broth was the kicker. I'm totally hooked. To the staff. I talked with brad today who, even though there was a slight hiccup with my order, was extremely courteous, polite, and unfailingly pleasant. I will absolutely keep going back, exploring their menu, and eating my favorite food (soup) at its very best.

Definitely a fan of Soupremacy. Great change of pace from the chain lunch places around downtown. And amazingly cheap, nothing beats that $6.25 sampler trio price. Been there a couple of times now and left satisfied each time. There's a good variety of soups and each has its own distinct flavor. There are a couple of soups I would definitely avoid but for the most part, they're all great. They offer to add sour cream to basically all their soups, say no to the sour cream but yes to all other toppings. Tomato Bisque - absolutely delicious, a bit thicker than I would normally like, but i love the smoked gouda they throw in there. I get this every time. A rather unique flavor from a very common soup. Red Pepper & Curry - maybe my favorite, I love the bit of spice and the slightly chunky pepper/curry that's in there. Despite being thick, it's not overly creamy. Definitely one I get every time. Caramelized onion - basically french onion soup, they throw in some croutons and parmesan. I often throw in my own bread to this one to soften up the bread and make the most of the liquidy soup. One I would get again in a heartbeat. Chili - I've had much better chilis, this was fairly average. It seemed almost like they had added some sour cream directly into the chili even before asking if I wanted more sour cream. It desperately needed some heat. Chicken Velvet - I didn't actually have it, a friend did, but he said it was basically like eating cream. Admittedly, the description does warn that it's rich and creamy. Avoid this one though. Looking forward to going back, very good soups.

Holy Chicken Velvet Soup, Batman. Seriously though, that's my all-time favorite soup and they've seem to have it right there. Just a spritz of sour cream and parsley... it's my dream soup to swim in. IT's a bit cramp in there.. probably can't fit more than 12 diners in there, plus the line for the soup. The servers are really friendly, and open for suggestions and I believe you could try whatever soups you'd like. PASS on the Asparagus Lemon soup.. That was the most terrifying thing I've ever tasted in my life. It was thin, cold, weird and just.. plain wrong. I love asparagus and I love lemon.. but the mixture together was just a dreary NO. I ordered the Tomato Bisque the other day and got back to my desk to Broccoli Cheddar... must admit I was slightly disappointed, but the Broccoli Cheddar was tasty taste! Bread there is amazing--I've had both their wheat and their baguette there.. Crusty and soft at the same time.. AT THE SAME TIME. It's illegal. I hear their corn & cashew chowder (cold) is tasty.. gotta try it!

I'm in love with small unique places and this one is no different in receiving my affection! Want soup? Soupremacy's got it! As well as salads and sandwiches. Now, as my vegetarian/vegan friends convinced me, I tried the Sweet Corn and Cashew Chowder and I wanted a giant vat of it. It was delicious, and I'm not even that fond of cold soups! A cup of it was plenty, yet didn't pinch my pockets when I decided to also pair it with a salad--this relationship kicked it up a notch when I discovered the cranberries, spinach and goat cheese on my salad. I was in love. I met Jennifer H. here for lunch and it was great seating outside--thank goodness for sunshine and low winds you unpredictable Indiana weather! And there is an EXCELLENT view of the Circle! Especially good perks-- you can sample any soup that you want before trying! That meant of course I took advantage and tried a bunch. You also get a chunk of thick, crusty bread, perfect for dipping in soup. Did I also mention that they have Pepsi products??

We got the lobster bisque and the tomato curry. The lobster bisque was wonderful, the tomato curry was good but it was more tomato than curry. Can't complain about the price, we had a groupon for 2 soups, 2 breads, and 2 drinks for $10. The staff was really nice. Definitely some place we'll be coming back to.

Holy amazing soup! I found this little gem on Yelp on a bitterly cold day in Indy. The man behind the counter was gushing about how all the soups were amazing, and when he gave me a sample of the chicken velvet, I knew he was telling the truth. Pure chicken soup nirvana. I am a sucker for tomato soup, however, so I ordered a tomato soup that comes topped with parsley, and cheese. It was a creamy tomato soup that tasted like angels dancing on my tongue. It is by far the best creamy tomato soup I have ever tasted. You get a choice of bread or crackers with your soup, so I chose a wheat bread that was a great accompaniment to the soup. Perfect consistency for dipping!
