Healthy Meal suggestions for Ruby Tuesday

Totally underwhelmed. Had lunch here with a coworker and we were both disappointed. Service was more than fine but the quality of food ... meh. The salad bar was lame. There didn't seem to be a lunch menu, which is odd. We both ordered sliders and fries, and the burgers were more bun than anything. This has nothing do with anything, but there was a toddler running around barefoot all around the restaurant. Really??? Ick. Hope that kid got a good bath when he got home!

I have not eaten at Ruby Tuesday in about ten years, but when I recollect on those memories, they are pretty good. So since I was was visiting Indy and I saw the restaurant, I thought let's eat there. Once we walked into the restaurant, my aunt and I just stood at the front of the restaurant waiting for someone to take us to our table. Finally, a guy comes up, and asks, "Is there no one up here to greet you?" Well obviously not, since we're just standing here. He lets us know that he is not a hostess, but a server, and this is not his job, but he'll still get us a table. SO UNPROFESSIONAL! When we get to our table, I thought I saw a small dead fly on the table. The guy examines it closely, and I mean up close and personal, and then realizes it's a piece of tape. When our waitress comes, she was really nice, but seemed unfamiliar with the menu. I decided to get buffalo chicken tenders off the appetizer menu because I wanted to get the salad bar. From afar the salad bar looked appetizing, but once up close it was highly skimpy. I liked the fact that that there were different types of lettuce, but there were no croutons. OK, when I think of a salad bar, I think of lettuce, dressings, other types of salads, and of course, croutons. Croutons are essential to a salad bar. I addressed the problem and it was fixed :). OMG! LOL! She brings out these little cheese biscuits, that somewhat resembles the biscuits at Red Lobster. However, let me tell you, these were not Red Lobster biscuits. They were like "junior" cheese biscuits that were so hard on the bottom. These things were horrible! I would have saved the embarrassment and not brought them out. Then, my aunt wanted to order some sweet tea, it was not sweet, it was just plain brewed tea labeled "sweet." We sent those back. My food, buffalo chicken tenders, finally came out. I was not impressed, but really disappointed. I think they mask the chicken in sauce because it's burnt. The chicken had a good taste, but I would not recommend it to anyone. I was just disappointed. This restaurant is will not be on my go to list. Customer service was bad, the cleanliness of the restaurant was not up to par, and the food was not anything to brag about. I would definitely rather cook my own dinner at home. However, there is a positive to this experience, I did not pay, my aunt paid so I am grateful on one level. But, I do not recommend this Ruby Tuesday, it was not good, so save your taste bud and enjoy a good meal.

As I arrived at this Northeastside Indianapolis location of Ruby Tuesday, an international chain of restaurants with over 775 locations, I found myself feeling hopeful while pulling into the mostly empty parking lot that had clearly designated accessible parking right up front with multiple spots available. I entered the restaurant, with an appropriate curb cut in place, and entered a pair of wooden doors that led immediately to a hostess area. Ruby Tuesday's design isn't that far removed from an Applebee's with a bar smack dab in the middle and two dining areas on each side. While I would likely argue that the Applebee's decor is more inviting, Ruby Tuesday's is quieter and a tad more intimate. For someone who really was just wanting a quiet meal with reading, it was absolutely fine. The hostess stayed quiet for a couple minutes despite the fact I was sitting right next to her in my wheelchair. My guess, shortly to be proven correct, was that she was trying to figure out where to sit someone in a wheelchair. She finally mumbled "I suppose you want a table?," to which I answered in the affirmative. She promptly went away for another 3-4 minutes clearly trying to figure it out. As near as I could tell, the side that was actually open wasn't, at least in her estimation, that wheelchair friendly. So, she was trying to figure out how to get me on the side that was accessible. I'd laugh if I hadn't been through this very scenario so many times before. To the credit of the folks at Ruby Tuesday, even at this point the place was looking at a 4-star rating. One staff person came in the door and promptly tried to seat me before I acknowledged that someone was already working. Then, another male staff person came by as the hostess returned and still seemed perplexed. This particular staff person seemed to disagree with her plan (and not in the most pleasant tone), but they both seemed overruled by an absolutely delightful young woman who came in, took charge, and sat me in an appropriate location inside the bar area yet close enough to the open area that it wouldn't inconvenience a server. It seemed a rather logical spot and I'm baffled why this wasn't considered rather obvious. But, again, I was impressed with the helpfulness of everyone and was still thinking to myself that this was all rather positive. My server, Adam, came by and took my drink order - the usual unsweetened iced tea. It was promptly brought out with lemon (as ordered). I kept it simple by ordering their Classic Burger, medium well, that comes with fries. I was brought out a couple pieces of their complimentary garlic-cheese bread slices as I waited. The garlic-cheese bread is good, but not particularly memorable and I must admit that I looked at the plate with two pieces on it and thought "it looks really lonely." It's just not presented in a very appetizing way. The meal came a few minutes later. The burger was medium well and served on your standard-issue bun with lettuce, tomatoe, mayo, and pickle. The burger itself was thick and juicy, though by now I'd already decided that the food was taking the review down to a 3-star rating. The bun was majorly disappointing - quite bland and, in fact, so bland that it hindered the flavor of the meat. The french fries tasted not far removed from Ore-Ida shoestring potatoes and were a tad too crispy. It wasn't a bad meal, but it was remarkably average considering the soon to be arriving bill of right around $13.00. The rating finally dropped down to 2-stars due to two definite mistakes of service - 1) I wasn't offered a drink refill despite the fact my drink was clearly empty before I'd finished my meal and 2) My server brought the check was soon as I was done, but never bothered to ask if I enjoyed my meal. What does this tell me? It tells me my presence was irrelevant. That's not customer service. Judging from the other reviews, this particular Ruby Tuesday struggles and that may very well explain why it was so stunningly devoid of customers on the day after Christmas in a heavy retail area. In the end, my early impressions of positive customer service were quickly overwhelmed by an average meal and below average follow-through and meal service. At the price I paid for the meal, I have the right to expect a good meal and welcoming service. Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday.

The service was surprisingly good. We had a waiter who was attentive yet not stalkeress. He did a really great job in timing the food. We had the salad bar which I found to be ok but my husband was not happy. I ordered the petite sirloin and coconut shrimp with mac&cheese. My steak was pretty good and cooked medium. The coconut shrimp were ok. I did not like the mac&cheese but the waiter took it away and replaced it with a loaded bake potatoe. My husband ribs and chicken tender were good. But the honey mustard was hidden under the rib. Overall this was not a bad dining, we may be back.

Had a to go order lol even though I had mistakenly placed it for the restaurant in Indiana,Pennsylvania!!!! The staff was patient and my wait time was quick, got home and food was cooked beautifully, Especially the steak. Don't know why most restaurants in Indiana can't cook a medium rare steak but this one delivered above and beyond my expectations. Also the meal was reasonably priced for shrimp and steak with two sides, I will definitely be back!!!

Let me just say up front that the salad bar alone warrants a bump in stars. I. Love. Salad. I *really* love that they have so many fresh options to put on said salad and that their apple salad actually serves as a dessert for me. Let me also admit that I am usually so full of salad when my meal comes that I take it home and get another meal out of the whole meal deal. Yep. I'm "that girl". We come here a lot as they always have a BOGO coupon in our money mailer (making it pretty cheap for 2 to dine) and it is super close to home. Yes, it is a chain. Yes, there are a ton of other similar restaurants. Yes, our customer experiences have been hit or miss. However, I will say we have always had the best service when sitting in the bar area for some reason. Cheesy as it sounds, I like that they put calorie counts right on their menu and that the salad bar only counts as one side. There I go with the salad talk again. We skip the biscuits (dollups of cheesy garlic goodness somewhat similar to Red Lobster) which is easy to do as they are always "waiting for them to come out of the oven" anyway. Salad. The End.

Stopped in for lunch while attending a business meeting. Unfortunately, Ruby Tuesday is known for their incredible salad bar, and I am not a big salad person. Some of their menu options were not appealing, and the burger was similar to that I could get anywhere just a tad overpriced. The burger was good, but just on par with many other places.

Bad service, subpar food. We liked other ruby Tuesday locations but won't be back to this one. Slow business and now we know why.

The salad bar has been looking pretty sad the last few times we've been here and the service is super slow!! We ate almost our whole salad before getting a drink and forget about getting a refill

I normally wouldn't review a place like this. I went for my first time with my girlfriend and her parents, so I figured what the heck. As I walked in, the first thing I saw was the massive salad bar which looked great. My girlfriend was already there waiting for me around the corner, so I joined her and began to browse the menu. We had a $25 gift card which is the only reason we decided to give it a try. Since we had the gift card, we decided to get a couple of steaks. I ordered the ribeye, medium-rare, and she ordered the petite sirloin medium. Backing up a bit, we didn't receive any rolls until our entrees came out. Their garlic-cheddar rolls are often compared to Red Lobster's. Honestly, Red Lobster's rolls are much better. These were dry and bland, very bad. Our food was brought out in an orderly fashion, took about 15 minutes for a party of 6 in the middle of a dinner rush. My steak was cooked perfectly, my girlfriend's was overcooked. She didn't mind, but I would have sent it back immediately as it was medium well. I must admit I did find it a bit curious that the weights were not included in the menu descriptions. The ribeye couldn't have been more than a choice cut. It was very thin(maybe 10-12 ounces?) and gritty. It was a pretty pathetic excuse of a ribeye. It didn't taste bad by any means, but I could find a better one at Kroger easily without approaching the meat counter. The two sides I chose were smashed potatoes and spaghetti squash. The squash was excellent, and the potatoes were over seasoned and had clearly been kept warm for a long period of time. I really didn't expect much walking into this experience, and I was not at all impressed. 2 stars.

Stopped for a late lunch. The salad bar was good as always but the real star of our visit was our waitress Jessica I would give her 5 Stars.

I rate the service an 8 / 10. The garlic cheese bread is not as good as Red Lobster's. I ordered the meatloaf with BBQ which should have been a generous portion, but it was 3 slices of maybe 2" x 1" meats. The grilled zucchini and onion rings were good as anywhere else. To me, even with my coupon, the food was pricey for the quantity.

Terrible service and mediocre food. We came at about 7:30 on a Thursday- wasn't crowded at all. We waited for 2 or 3 minutes for a hostess, which should have been the first clue that the place wasn't doing well. We sat down, and no one came to our table for at least 5 minutes. When the server arrived, she said she didn't see us. We were hard to miss- 4 people with two small children. The server finally came back and we gave our orders immediately. We waited another 5 minutes for the drinks to arrive (without straws, of course). Husband was served sweet tea instead of unsweet. The salad bar was sad-looking and had a strange smell. Food took about 15 minutes to arrive. Biscuits were hard and dry. Kids pasta was overcooked, but they were fine. Ribeye was extremely poor quality and fatty. Spaghetti squash had a strange flavor. A table near us gave us a coupon and told us it was the worst service they'd ever had. They said this location used to be great, but has gone down hill. Waited another ten minutes for the bill. We will not return.

Ruby Tuesday, Ruby Ruby Tuesday. Oh, how I wish there were more of you closer to home. Your biscuits. Your salad bar. Your drinks. I was stuck between the New Seafood Mixed Grill and the Parmesan Shrimp Pasta... but I knew I wanted to get my $3 worth for the add-on salad bar so I ordered something I knew would be fine as reheats. Pasta it is! THOSE BISCUITS!! So delicious. I'd never had them before. I don't know if it's a good thing--I'd eat these things like Skittles if I could. Herby, garlicky goodness. MAN!! The salad bar--it's so good. I don't know what it is... the choice selection isn't mind-boggling. Maybe it's just really fresh? Whatever it is, my spinach salad with lots of goodies was FANTASTIC. Three times over. The non-alcoholic drink selections were nice, too. I got a Watermelon Fizz--it was like I was drinking the juice out of the rind. Very refreshing. This location was very on top of it--They saw our large party coming and started setting up our tables before we set foot in the door. Hopefully the nearest location (45 minutes away!) is as good as this one.

I'll begin by saying that I often eat at other Ruby Tuesday locations, and have had great service and a good meal. Sadly, this location doesn't hold to that standard. We visited on a weeknight, arriving around 5:30. We were seated promptly, but it was several minutes before the server arrived. When she did, we noticed right away that she wasn't as friendly and pleasant as most RT servers. Our first problem was that when I ordered a veggie burger, as I always do at RT since I am vegetarian, she made a face and said, "I can ask......but we don't have veggie burgers anymore." Really?? I had one on my last visit, but whatever, I would just have the salad bar instead. My daughter ordered one of the new seafood meals pictured on the seafood menu. She told me later that she had wanted to order one of the drinks featured, but didn't, because the server "seemed weird." Then it was some time before our meals were served, and when they were, my daughter's meal didn't have the "new made from scratch garlic cheese biscuits" as mentioned on the seafood menu, and also were pictured served on the very same entree that she had ordered. So when the server returned, I asked if she would please bring the biscuits, and she said, "Oh, the biscuits aren't baked yet." This was strange, because by then it was after 6:00, and the restaurant was fairly full. She didn't offer to bring them later, so I asked if she would please bring them after they were baked. Diners around us were served these very same biscuits, but my daughter was completely finished with her meal before the server arrived with some biscuits on a plate. I did enjoy the salad bar, which was fantastic, as always, but missed my usual veggie burger. I plan to return to other Ruby Tuesday locations, but not this one, and wouldn't recommend to anyone who desires a good meal in a pleasant, relaxing place. Our meal turned out to be rather stressful and not enjoyable.

Great service (thanks Joe) but as always, the salad bar is always out of something. This time it was plates, mushrooms, tomatoes, green peppers, and NAMES on the salad dressings. My son loved his prime burger, my mini's were ok, but nothing special. Nothing special here, this is a franchise store, not a corporate store so they have a limited draft beer selection. It used to cater to the Gen X & Y crowd but I saw more little brats and geriatrics this time.

Average. Food was ok (not bad, not great). We asked what beers were on special and the waiter simply said "none" with a tone that implied we shouldn't have asked. We ordered two drafts, went to the salad bar and filled up, came back to the table and still waited 5 minutes for the drafts, even though the place wasn't busy...... Loved the salad bar though - fresh and well stocked!

Better than I expected it to be. I had the Bella Chicken for lunch and it was just right. The salad bar is a little meh--no interesting ingredients, but clean, fresh and well-kept.

If I am writing a review based on the current value of RT its a 2....last year would've been a 4. We used to eat in the restaurant once a week and id get a to-go salad bar at least another time a week...but no longer. Now I'm a bit of a salad bar snob....I can't bring myself to grab a tray and jump in line at Golden Corral, but anymore RT isn't much of a better option. I can't judge most of the food because I always get turkey minis with green beans ( tasty and under 50 cals) and the salad bar.....and it used to be a great deal. In the last year however that's changed. They keep deleting things off of the salad bar and not replacing them with anything. For instance they no longer have the greek pasta salad, cottage cheese, feta crumbles or raisins!!!!! These just happen to be my favorite items which just salts my wounds.........to me the value in the salad bar is gone. I still head over on occasion for a turkey burger, but when I want a salad bar the Marsh across the street is just as fresh with more options (and really cheap). So sad....:(

Silverware had food crumbs on it. I had to wait 5+ minutes for the lettuce to be restocked at the salad bar. Most of the lettuce was brown. Waited 10 minutes for water (on a Monday evening). The wait staff was a little creepy and not welcoming. Besides the bad lettuce, the food was good.

Too bad there isn't a way to give zero stars for a rating. This place was terrible. We went in at 10:15 on Father's day (Today, 6/17). There were six of us, and there was one other table already seated. That is the sum total of patrons. Considering every other restaurant with a brunch or breakfast menu was packed, this should have been a clue. But alas, we went in anyways. Our server was some burnout who obviously had no interest in being there. We placed our entire order at that time (approximately 10:20). The server forgot one of the drinks when he brought them (kind of amazing since he wrote them all down). Finally, 30 or so minutes later I was tired of being out of a drink so I went to the bar. There I ran into a server (not ours) who was bringing out the yogurt parfaits. That's right, 30 minutes for a yogurt parfait! They didn't even have all of them. When I asked about the wait for food, she said a 13 top (the other table) had just ordered. So, apparently 13 people can shut down the kitchen at Ruby Tuesdays. I hate to see what happens when they are busy, although based on their patronage, that may never be a problem. The food was fine, once we did receive it (45 minutes after ordering), but they never brought out the biscuits until we asked. Hands down, this guy was the WORST server I've had in recent memory. We only got our checks and got cashed out because another server saw we were standing there waiting. The excuse for the poor service is that our server was also bar tending. Granted, there was no one in the bar, and there were probably more servers than diners. I wont ever waste my time there again. It looks like this restaurant is on its way out anyways, and not a moment to soon.
