When I get in the mood for fast food that isn't Subway, which is rare, I look no further than this location of Popeye's. The chicken is spicy, it's hot, and seems to be prepared with true Southern love. The customer feels loved at this Popeye's, too. To be honest, I don't think I've ever had such great service at a fast food restaurant. During my first visit, the manager came around with additional sauces (which were quite necessary), and explained a thing or two about the menu. I really appreciated that. Try getting that type of service at a fast food burger joint; you will fail. If you're not in the mood for fried chicken, try the jambalaya. What else are you gonna do with the five bucks you've got in your pocket? As an added bonus, this Popeye's restaurant also has one of those fancy touch-screen soda fountains.

So, I love chicken. Anyone who knows me knows that. I was excited when Popeye's first came back to Indy, but I could do without this location. Every time I have gone there, they've gotten my order wrong. I've let it happen so many times out of convenience. There was a time I had to go back because my order was wrong, then when I stepped out of the store and look, it was wrong again! I just left there. It's about 11:15pm, and they don't close until 12am. I'm in the drive thru, and noone is acknowledging me. I overhear some inappropriate conversation about smoking, so I talk into the speaker to see if someone will answer me. Nope. I drive to the window to see what's happening. No one inside even looks my way. It took a worker who was leaving to tell me that systems were down, so they weren't taking any more orders. I wonder why it was so hard for the people inside to tell me that, and if that worker had not said anything, how long would I have SAT there? I didn't want to be obnoxious and honk my horn, but then again, who likes to be ignored? Tonight's experience marks the last time I will ever visit this location. At least there are others.

I waited at the front counter at least five minutes to get waited on. No unsweet tea, they ran out. No napkins. They have Coke machines that makes everything and half of them are out. Got confused on my son's order and gave him a three piece tender not a three piece chicken combo. Beautifully decorated.

Novena is so sweet and helpful! We entered with a large group of hungry yahoos and she made sure we were taken care of. The hit of the day would have to be the soda machine!

I wouldn't normally review a chain restaurant but I'm reviewing & comparing chicken tender strips and restaurants in two states. The Texas chicken strips are THICK, juicy slices of large white meat lightly breaded and absolutely delicious. Most are very close to the lengthy of the serving container. Based on my positive experience in Rosenberg ,TX I was looking forward to ordering here in Indy. The chicken strips were 1/2 the size, mostly breading, and certainly not the thick moist white chicken strips we devoured in TX. Why such a difference from one of Popeyes training center restaurants in Indiana verses a small town restaurant in Texas. Regardless of the thickest & length of the fillet or excessive breading my son enjoyed the Indiana version. The store was clean with semi-friendly staff in a non-threatening internal & external atmosphere at almost 10 pm on a Friday night. Regardless, it is a neighborhood where it pays to be overly cautious especially late at night. If our Popeye's chicken strips were as delicious as theirs (TX), I'd be a regular and order often. But again I ask why such an extreme difference from State to State? Brings home the answer why restaurants in various states are successful and others board up the door.

Popeyes came, left, and is now making another presence in the local area. I've seen several new locations pop up over Indy in the last year, so hopefully they will get a following once again. They offer Po Boy sandwiches, chicken strip and shrimp baskets, as well as their famous chicken in mild or WILD. Go for a bit of heat and choose their Wild side. It has the right amount of spice and not uncomfortable. I just wish their sides were a little larger and they offered okra on their menu. I hit this place up a few times per month. I recommend the spicy tenders basket with red beans and rice with a biscuit. Give Popeye's another try and I am sure you will love the Louisiana Fast approach to Cajun style chicken.

Well this a story has a happy ending..., Popeye's has darn good finger lick-in chicken...Pulling chicken apart in pieces, and then dipping, is great marketing scheme. It feels like the primal experience of sitting around the camp fire in your cave and eating your kill a piece at a time...I hope Popeye's can survive the competition...this cave man will return and cave ladies have their thumbs up also
