I really like this place, though I have been eating there so often that I'm starting to get sick of it. I double-meat almost everything because I'm a lifter/athlete and am on a high protein diet. The vegetables here taste much fresher than Subway's, and the meat is a bit better too. I've had the Dagwood (no need to double meat this), Chicken Souvlaki, Steak and Egg, Prime Rib, and Gyro, and they are all pretty decent. I double-meated the Dagwood and they couldn't even fit it in the pita; it was also too salty for my tastes. The Chicken Souvlaik with feta and cucumber is a pretty good combination, though I'm not a huge fan of their Tzatziki sauce. The steak and egg is also pretty loaded and has potatoes that go with it, so it's a fairly good-tasting breakfast food. The Gyro is probably the least healthy of their pitas, so I suppose it's no surprise that it is their best tasting. I'd certainly recommend this place, but I'm personally staying away for a while because I've eaten here too much and it is slightly more expensive than other sandwich places.

This is my first time having food from this business. I ordered delivery to my place of employment. They were very polite over the phone and offered suggestions to make my pita better, since I've never had it before. The food arrived very fast! I will def order again & also stop in if I ever get the opportunity.

Didn't know it was a chain, just wanted something quick and clean, yelp app directed me to the PP. Went in around 1:30, lunch crowd was dwindling away, loads of options on the wall, decided on the gyro and double meat for $2 more, got the combo option and went with fruit and water. Not bad, pretty filling, calorie count says it's 580 or something like that, I believe it assumes that your getting chips/soda. You get your choice of fixins at the end, so you can stack it with as many veggies as they can jam in a pocket. They also serve the same option sans the pita, but what's the point then? I'd hit this joint up again if looking for something healthier and was in the area.

To start, Pita Pit the chain is usually a good sandwich shop with fresh ingredients and make it a great alternative to other sandwich chains. But the 86th Street Pita Pit is inconsistent in service, in food stock, in cleanliness of counters, in freshness of food. Having had a Pita Pit in my hometown, and after working near the downtown location, the 86th location leaves a lot to be desired. I've been in there several times, and each time has been worse than the last. I went to ask for pico in my pita, and noticed there was some sauce all over the ingredients. The response from the employee was essentially "Yeah, some dressing got spilled in there. That happens." So, I'm done. You can do better than to eat at this Pita Pit. I'm not hanging in any longer in the hopes they get their act together.

I got my first taste of Pita Pit up in Muncie while I was attending BSU...and was hooked. I'm going to be a lemming and admit that I usually either get their gyro or falafel because...well...they're amazing! I recently tried the one on 86th street for the first time and it was everything I remembered! Service was fast and professional and the toppings were fresh! Make you get the tzatziki sauce in your pita. You won't regret it. There's currently a Groupon going on where you pay $10 and get 2 $10 vouchers to use. Yay for frugal me!!

Iced tea lovers: they only have that BLEH gold peak tea machine. Best thing they have going is the staff. The value to cost ratio isn't there for me. Just shy of $9 for the combo of a small falafel w/ chips and drink? Nah.

I go here one or twice a month. I like it better than subway, but the service is rather inconsistent. I usually get cilantro and every once in a while they will put a big handful in it like it's lettuce. I really like their tuna and I always get the small pitas because you can load up on the free ingredients.

When we lived in Nevada I found this chain. They do a great job of putting together a unique pita for each person's taste. The Indianapolis chain was nothing short of what I remembered. Nicely done!

A couple of weeks ago I had my first Pita Pit experience and it was okay, nothing spectacular. I ordered the Club which had bacon, ham, and turkey, then topped it with cheese, spinach, and onion. It tasted fine, but I thought it wasn't worth the price. I had a coupon for a free bag of chips and free drink with the purchase of a pita, and my total was around $7.50. If I had to pay for the chips and drink, it would have easily cost over $10. Pros: quick service, easy to customize your order Cons: too salty (I did get something with bacon, but it was VERY salty), pricier than what I'd like to spend on lunch If you come here, be sure to get their loyalty card. It seemed to take a while before you got a free sandwich, but that's life.

Had a small lunch today, shared 2 small pita's. One Philly Cheese Steak, and one Gyro. Just the right size, and got to add extra veg options. Everything was fresh, toasted well, and decently priced. We will be back.

Basically a version of subway...but a bit better...a bit healthier. Refrigerated section of fresh veggie items that you can add to your pita. $7 plus dollars for a pita with water...is a bit expensive for the quality....but....hell of a lot better than other chains. I personaly would prefer smaller portions...for less bux. You could easily split a pita and be satiated if you are a reasonable person...which than makes the cost reasonable as well.

The Pita Pit has been a long standing business on the north west side in the same shopping center as Trader Joes, and I was sad to see them close late last year. I was then confused when I spotted someone in the break room at work munching on a pita from there one afternoon, so I promptly hauled them into my office and interrogated them for answers. This is the story I was given by someone who apparently knew more than me. Pita Pit is a franchise, and the person who had this location closed the shop. Shortly after, the franchise owner of the downtown Indy location took over my north side lunch spot and reopened it, hiring a lot of the old staff back. Aside from some small differences (like the Coke Freestyle machine and not having baked pita chips), the place is pretty much the same. Same menu, same grill, same great service. I like that the Pita Pit is a great alternative to the fast food down the road, and it's a great place to sit outside and eat when the weather is nice out. Get there early though.. the lunch crowd from the hospital gets pretty hectic just after noon, and sometimes it's hard to find a place to eat, especially outside.

Pretty good gyros, however it cannot be compared to the real deal. They don't slice the meat off the spindle. It was missing the authentic taste, but was still good for what it was! Would definitely go back! Guys there were pretty friendly and helpful!

Ok, I'm sorry but this is just after one visit, but the Veggie Pita with hummus was not that great. The wheat pita bread was dry and tasteless, but the veggies were fresh. I could have just eaten them with a fork. I would go back though, maybe it was just what I ordered this time.

The food was delicious. The delivery took a very long time but the manager made it right. Awesome!

Love this place! Meat is great! Choice of veggies and sauce is just awesome! So many choices, s almost overwhelming if you've never been there before. I got the sulvlaki pita, and it was so good! I got mushrooms, cilantro, pico de gallo, tomato, spinach, feta, and tzaziki sauce! Way better than subway! My boyfriend got the dagwood and loved it! It was so full they could barely wrap it up!

Falafel, hummus, tzatziki, Feta, Spinach, Banana peppers, Tomatoes... I thought my life was over. Then I went in the other day because I missed breakfast at Qdoba.... wound up getting Steak egg and cheese Pita, with grilled onions and peppers, jalapeno ranch. Good God.... It's really not fair...

I wondered why the restaurant had claimed the food to be healthy. I asked the cashier, but he did not know and guessed because of the veggies. I ate the chicken classic breakfast wrap. I chose the whole wheat wrap, which I would have liked it warmed as it was weird eating hot food on the inside and cold on the outside. Other than that the wrap was delicious. I did not care for this food pictures on the wall as faces. It reminded me of Mellow Mushroom. The restaurant style was like Subway.

I seriously love this place. First of all, they have a great nutrition calculator on the website so you can build your pita before you go order it and figure out what you're getting into. I think people are often deceived that they're being "healthy" when they eat at Jimmy Johns or Pita Pit which is why I think it's great they have the calculators. That being said, you can definitely eat at Pita Pit and still be healthy if you choose wisely. I used to be a huge fan of the gyro until I found out it was one of the worst things on the menu for you. I save that for the Greek restaurants now. They recently came out with the Spicy Black Bean pita which has quickly moved into my top spot. I get it with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, green peppers, alfalfa sprouts, jalepenos, and a little teriyaki sauce. The pita is always stuffed full AND it's under 400 calories. WIN! You don't even need cheese!! It's a little pricy for a "sandwich" (I think mine is like $6.95 + tax) but you can put as many veggies as you want and I always leave full so I'm okay with paying the price. I will also add that the staff is EXTREMELY friendly which makes me think they enjoy working there which makes me enjoy giving them my business.

I love pita pit so much. I first had it in Kansas. When we moved to Indy and realized they had one here we were ecstatic! It's similar to a chipotle or qdoba except with pitas and so many more ingredients. I loved coming here when I was not eating meat because they had such a good selection. They have a good selection of sauces too! I only wish it was a bit closer to where I stay. If they were a block away I'd be there several times a week

Pretty darned good and fresh for fast food. A bit cheesy in the marketing, but oh well. It's nice to mix healthy with quick. The prices are about what you'd expect, and the portion size is a bit more than you need. Still, I'd recommend it if you're passing through and don't have time to search out a non-chain establishment. They have good vegetarian options.

I have seen place around different cities and just wanted to try it. It was a pita Subway. You pick your meat and then they ask you what you want on it. They have a good selection of veggies and sauces and the owners seem to give you a whole introduction about how to order. I had the Chicken shawarma, it was juicy and nicely grill, and it taste like healthy gyro. I'm glad that had wheat pita too.

LOVE Pita Pit! We are lucky that this location delivers to our office and we take FULL advantage! Great ordering online and super fast delivery! Only reason I don't give five stars is because on more than one occasion my bag of food and cup smelled like cigarette smoke. Obviously the delivery person smoked a couple before delivery. My favorite is the Gyro or Buffalo Chicken! Even when trying to eat healthy i order Fork style and make it an amazing salad! Smoothies are pretty good as well!

Love Pita Pit! The convenience of fast food and the freedom to customize your order with an array of fresh toppings, make this the perfect lunch spot. I love the falafel pita. The falafel along with hummus and feta cheese, wrapped in a pita is phenomenal. The only problem is location. The northside is too far, and the downtown location is hard to get to because of parking. Alas, love is not always easy.

I went here after friends at work suggested it heavily. I was not impressed with the Pita Pit at all. The selection of toppings and meat was very limited. The sauce choice was also very limited which is a big problem when you take into account how dry the pita pockets and other toppings are. I had a Chicken-Caesar wrap which was extremely lack luster. The dine-in area also failed to impress me and the staff came off as rude and pretentious. It's one of those places people go to make themselves feel worldly and eat "healthy". Bottom Line: BIG Pita fans might love this place. As a culinary stop it is an interesting experiment in "alternative lunch choices". If your just looking for a good lunch on the run, I say go to the subway and grab a sandwich or go grab a salad at Eddie met Salad down the road to grab some real light and healthy eats.

I love you Pita Pit, always have, which is why when I craved your food today it was worth the 40 minute drive across town. Unfortunately the staff failed to meet your standards. The grill worker dropped the felafel in a pile of oil and repeatedly squirted it with more and more oil till it was a mushy sludgy mess and if that wasn't enough I am in love with your secret spicy dressing and this location failed to shake the dressing at all and as a result my pita was a wash of straight oil, no spice, no vinegar, no flavor, just an oil slick, I asked a second worker for dressing and the same was repeated... I was also provided less than a tablespoon of cheese. I left disappointed with my craving unsatisfied after a round trip hour and 20 minute drive for your usually delicious food. I thought to call the location but the manager wasn't in today besides another pita made at this location would probably be less than stellar so I think I'll stick to the Pennsylvania location downtown from now on, thank goodness I have more than one option.

This place is AWESOME! Think Subway, but with pitas instead of bread, and meat grilled on a flat top right in front of your eyes! Their menu is pretty varied, with tons of meat options/combinations to get you started, and then lots of veggies and sauces to add to customize it the way you want. I always just stick to the chicken breast, which is grilled, and then stuff it full of vegetables and top it off with honey mustard dressing. So good. The vegetables are always fresh and crisp. My wife likes to get the steak fajita, with lots of peppers and things of that nature, and she loves it. The best part about this place is that her and I can go in there and get two totally different types of pitas to satisfy us. There are so many options that you can go in there craving practically any type of food and find a pita to suit your needs. The staff there is always incredibly friendly and the food is always delicious. They also have both indoor and outdoor seating. We have never once had an experience there that was less than awesome. We try to make sure and come here for lunch at least once a month!

Thanks to fellow Yelpers, I tried The Pita Pit for lunch today and loved it. I had the falafel. The falafel was great and the toppings were terrific. There were many to choose from. In addition to the standard shredded iceberg lettece, they also had romaine and spinach. Of course, they did offer tzaziki sauce and feta. I will admit, that I can eat and enjoy almost anything that includes tzaziki and feta. So, my review may be a bit biased, but alas, I don't think so. Gary, the owner, was checking on all of the tables for those of us who dined in (or outside at the tables provided.) I spent some time talking to him and he seems like a great guy who is trying to do a really good job of running his business.

If you want something quick AND healthy ... look no further. We go there regularly & the food is always consistently fresh. In the warmer months, we enjoy eating outside :@) The offer a breakfast menu, but I've never tried it. Something for everyone (ever have vegetarian options)

This has quickly become on of our favorite places to eat. I love the dozens of options for fillings, both meat and vegetarian, and any garnish you can imagine. Tons of veggies, sauces, cheese. We've tried a whole bunch of different ones so far and they are all tasty. The Chicken Shwarma and the Falafel are my favorite.

I went in this place with expectations as low as they go. I am pleased to announce that if I were, in fact, wearing socks, they would indeed be knocked off. The guys behind the counter spoke shoddy English, but they were quite nice and really seemed eager to help. The menu is pretty awesome as well, broken up into meat/vegetarian/breakfast. Think of Subway, but with a ton more choices of protein, and with pita bread instead of the stuff Subway has. The food was good too, the ingredients didn't seem brown and gross like they had been sitting out all day, they were crisp and flavorful and really added an element to the sandwich as opposed to completely hijacking the flavor like Subway does. I opted for the Falafel, one of my favorite Middle Eastern dishes. I put some olives, feta cheese (yeah, they have feta on the toppings bar!), some lettuce, spinach, and tzatziki sauce (yeah, they have tzatziki on the condiment bar too!!). I was awesome, and filling, I could barely finish, but with no way to pack it home I dug in and finished and paid the price, but for good food, I'll take that risk.

Yum. This is a great alternative to subway or Jimmy johns! Lots more toppings and it can be as healthy as want! I like that they have hummus and tatziki 2 of my favorite things!

This has become my favorite fastfood-ish place to eat. The food is all fresh and is made for you--like Subway or Penn Station on steroids, but in homemade pita bread. There are so many choice, well beyond most other places. It's great for vegetarians; great for low-carbers. So many meat choices; so many vegetable/cheese/fruit choices; so many sauce choices; including feta, hummus, tzaitziki, salsa, teriyaki, ranch...almost too many to mention. For low-carbers, anything on the menu can be made as a salad. The staff is friendly (if sometimes hard to understand). The owner, a Bloomington native, is often there and is easy to understand and very friendly and dedicated to her business and her customers, as is her main staffer (I think his name is Cesar--smart and nice). The place is also quite clean, and if you wish to sit outside, the tables are nice and the strip center's music is a sort of enjoyable classical kind that most people like. Be sure to sign up for their email list. They send out monthly specials and coupons!

Easily the first choice when I need something fast but good. Lots of choices, all of them very good. The service is great, very friendly. Online ordering makes it even easier for office lunches and they deliver. Give it a try -- you won't be disappointed.

I'm not one for fast food restaurants, but Pita Pit drew me in with it's promise of "healthy" fast food, and now I can say that I'm glad I'm a sucker for advertising! I've been to Pita Pit three times since it opened and I haven't been disappointed with the food once! Think Subway format, but with much more creative options. You're given a choice of white or wheat pita and can load on as many veggies as you would like. There are also about 15 different sauces you can add and a bunch of different meat AND veggie options to pick from. They also have breakfast pitas. I've had the falafel twice, and not expecting much from a fast food falafel, I was REALLY happy with the flavor and texture of Pita Pit's (hence the reason why I've had it twice in my three times there). I loaded mine down with veggies, so the pita ended up being huge but I ate every bite and didn't feel like a heifer afterwards. The mark of any good meal! Pita Pit delivers and get this, they have online ordering!! Send in your order and either pick it up or have it delivered at whatever times suits you best. How convenient is that?
