This restaurant is very convenient for IUPUI students around the downtown area. It's located in a mall area with many other restaurants that I'm assuming gets a large student population eating there. Very easy to get to and hard to miss, this is an easy way to eat some decent quality Chinese food. I ordered their new Panda Paw plate, which consists of a side (rice, noodles, etc.) and three entries. I ordered the fried rice and was very pleased with it, alongside sesame chicken, spicy beef, and another chicken dish, which I forget at the moment. But! I can assure you that all three of my entrees were tasty. I also ordered a side of ragoons as I was feeling extra hungry. The extra side was $1 and the rest of my food was around $8, and then of course you drink if you so choose. The young lady that served me was beyond nice. Cross your fingers that she's there when you order your food!

Hey- I like this place. And as long as I come at lunch time, the food is fast and fresh, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I'm trying really hard to watch my diet, and Panda Express makes it easy for me. Every one of their options include the calorie count on the label in front of your face. I like that I can custom build my meal based on my needs and without having to guess. There are several low-cal options too so it isn't too limited. Food is tasty and they seem to stay busy enough so I get fresh choices. There are also plenty of side options/add ons (like egg rolls and cream cheese rangoons) in case I want a treat. Really, the only thing that annoys me about Panda Express is that they don't keep soy sauce out for the taking. I have never once remembered to ask for it, and they've only offered it a handful of the times I've been there. It's just not right to have Chinese food without soy sauce, and I've had to do that a few times because they keep their soy sauce behind the counter and are not consistent with offering it. Overall-if you want cheap, fresh, quick-this is a great go-to place.

Panda Express is one of my guilty pleasures! The food is always fresh and you always know what you're going to get. I generally don't sway away from the Orange Chicken as it's my favorite and is I guess you could say their 'signature dish'. I would stay away from the spring rolls I personally didn't find them very tasty. Anyways, I also enjoy going here because it's a really quick place to eat if you're on your lunch during work. The service is sometimes hit or miss there. But really as long as your order is right and they charge you the correct amount you shouldn't have any problems.

Good food, some of the staff is very pleasant and some are rude! On more than one occasion they have had their open sign turned off as if to keep customers away. It's not like it was 10-15 minutes before closing, it was more like an hour-90 minutes before closing. Also, we received attitude for ordering food that needed to be cooked(that they ran out of...). Probably will never come to this location again.

Well I have had many forms of Chinese food from very poor cheap buffets to fine dining Chinese, Vietnamese , Japanese and even taiwanese but this food was not cheap at 8.19 a plate for three selections and the food was sadly cold the lo mein was all taken so I waited for a fresh batch bad idea the noodles were under done still hard and the staff was very uninterested in educating me on what they had and how the set up of the line ran. That's very annoying because your there to help sell the business model to the customer and yet I felt that I will not be coming to another panda express as long as I live period. To those who like panda express maybe I went on a bad day maybe the cook was new maybe they aren't usually bad but it's too many maybe's on the line when there are many more accessible restaurants near this location and even a minutes down the road to not be at least decent during peek lunch hours.

One of my "go to" lunch spots because it's close to the office and I can get in and out relatively fast. I like Chinese food, but I think most of the places I label as "cheap chinese" probably isn't the healthiest of choices with their grease-soaked egg rolls and pork fried rice. No, Panda is different. It's a chain with the same menu at every location, so I know when I get my panda bowl, it'll be the same at every location. Cafeteria-style lines keep the pace moving so you don't get stuck waiting on a server or have to try and pick the fastest line. I try and skip the plates with food heaped on it. Panda Express offers a Panda Bowl, which I fill with brown steamed rice and either vegetables or orange chicken. It's cheap, fast, and healthier than most Chinese food (or at least that's what I tell myself). If they're out of something, they'll make it fresh for you. If something doesn't look right, like the vegetables might have been sitting out a bit too long, they'll make you new as well.

I was on my way home from my first visit to Panda Express, a Chinese restaurant chain that I've heard lots about from friends but never managed to visit as there's not one particularly close to my neighborhood and when it comes to my "fast food" choices I tend to not add Chinese to that list, when I realized that my expected 3-star rating had become a 4-star rating. Tonight, I was planning to hang out with friends I don't see very often and one person in the family is challenged by a food allergy list that leaves me exhausted even reading it. This happens to be one of the restaurants where she's able to go, she knows what she can eat, and she seems to be able to enjoy herself at the same time. So, it was the perfect chance to try Panda Express. For those not in the know, Panda Express is the largest chain of what they call "Chinese American Cuisine" restaurants in the United States. They are what is considered "fast casual," a growing concept in the food industry for the person seeking a generally higher quality of food than 'fast food," but still not requiring table service. In this case, you order up at a counter and work from a basic concept of a meal that serves up two entrees and one side. With a drink, you can eat for right around $10.00. While I've read some reviews indicating the food freshness can vary, I can say on my visit that the food was fresh. The "sides" range from your usual varied types of rice to noodles, etc. Then, you go for two entrees out of a variety of choices in the general categories of beef, chicken, seafood, and regional entrees. They also have appetizers and, of course, fortune cookies. I ordered fried rice as my side along with two chicken entrees, orange chicken and a special teriyaki mixture that was labeled as new on the menu. They had your usual soft drink options along with a couple of iced tea options, water, Sobe, and Izze beverages. I took an iced tea option. While the restaurant isn't what I'd call wheelchair friendly, most of their tables and chairs are fairly light and it's simple to move them around. The front entrance had a curb cut that made for easy access, while the restaurant offered a single table (that looked rather dirty in my opinion) for outside dining. The staff was friendly and patient with me as I surveyed the menu since this was my first visit. While they didn't explain anything, I will say that most of it is fairly obvious as to how things work there. The food? I described it to one of my friends as fairly average Americanized Chinese. It was neither outstanding or disappointing. It was a good meal at a fair price. The rice wasn't necessarily "fresh," but it also didn't taste like it had been sitting around. It was good and definitely surpassed some of my usual Chinese restaurants. The two chicken choices I made were appealing, though I definitely preferred the absolutely delicious teriyaki option. I liked that we could sit there and enjoy our meal without feeling pressured to leave. That's rare these days and I appreciated the hospitality. If I were rating it, I think, on my usual standards I'd likely stick with a three-star rating. However, I think it deserves an extra star because the diversity of their menu allows someone with serious allergies to have a tasty, quality meal and that's rare in this day and age when it seems like every restaurant cuts corners and serves up tons of artificial garbage. I also really appreciated the hospitality and the friendliness of the staff on this visit. So, in my estimation that deserves another star. So, while you may not necessarily get the authentic Chinese experience at Panda Express, you will get a fairly priced and good tasting meal and there are options for folks with dietary restrictions. I won't likely make the restaurant a destination experience, but when I'm in the neighborhood I'll definitely visit.

***UPDATE*** After Giving this Panda Express a beating in my previous review, PE managment reached out to me to try to fix the situation. They were very pleaseant to talk to and informed me there have now been some staffing changes made at this location. They invited me back with some gift certificates to give it another try. I went in around 8:30pm on a Wednesday night. I'll spare you the details of what I ordered to focus on how AWESOME this staff now is. I threw a couple of "difficult" requests out there to their staff whill getting my takeout order and they met or exceeeded my expectations with a smile the entire time. Officially off the List Thanks Panda Express!

A good place for quick Chinese food. Cooked fresh, many options, decent prices. The added bonus is the proximity to my office. Typically I would give more stars, unfortunately they have had some staffing issues that result in not enough employees to move the line through and cook. Aside from these delays, the quality for the price is great.

Went here once, on "free sample of Samurai Surf and Turf day". I LIKE that the fried rice is made with brown rice instead of white rice. I LIKE that you can actually get some veggies with your food. I DON'T like that they'll try to give you 600-800 calories worth of rice (at least!) if you don't stop them. On the day I went, I got one scoop of fried rice (usually is 3-4), and entrees of broccoli beef and surf & turf (with green beans, potatoes, and red peppers) for about $6 because of my coupon. Not a bad lunch. It was fresh, hot, and tasty. The tables were clean. The folks working there were pretty surly though...no smiles anywhere. You would think the company would schedule their "A Team" to work on a busy day like this one. The line was moving fairly slow. Considering all they had to do was scoop stuff from a steam table onto a plate or into a box, this surprised me. Careful though...some of their entrees (like the delectable honey walnut shrimp) are very high in calories.

There is no complaining about the food here. There are many options to choose from and at a pretty decent price. The place was clean and the employees were very polite. I'm picky on my 5 stars so that is why this place gets a 4.

Chineese Fast Food Chain When you go to this place you choose rice or noodles. Then you pick 3 main entrees to finish your plate. See the photos for what a plate looks like. I would recommend there orange chicken because it's there best dish by far. I choose that for all 3 choices. This place is alright, but I only go every once in a while. I will usually go to Chang Fu up the street instead. It's good if your in a hurry because everything is already prepared.

Fail on 6/28 @ 7:30. 7 out of 12 entrees are empty. Everything that is left is the bottom of the barrel. Get some cooks.

Need a quick lunch during work? This is one of the places I like to go when I can't decide what I want to eat. I usually get the orange chicken and steamed veggies in a "panda bowl" and it's affordable and tasty... and quick! My only complaint is that it seems like often when I go, I have to wait a few minutes for them to steam more veggies. I don't really mind so much, though, cuz that way I know they are fresh! They chop all their veggies daily, and their glass front refrigerator filled with veggies is appealing to me.

This place was ok. The food is bland. This is more fitting for a western taste. The spiciest entree they had my 1 yr old girl could eat. The rice tasted stale and the rangoons were different from any other I've tasted. I gave it 2 stars because it filled my belly and it looked nice inside.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
