Healthy Meal suggestions for Outback Steakhouse

Has to be the most poorly managed Outback in the country. If all are this way, they should be out of business. Holiday weekend, hour wait when we get here. That is not an issue. The issue is 6 tables that have not been cleaned or seated in that hour. Maybe if they fill up the empty tables with customers the lobby would not be packed with irritated hungry people

The service was good, but the food was horrible. I ordered steak and lobster and it looked nothing like the picture on the menu. The filet was as small and as tall as a hamburger patty and the lobster was so small it was a one bite and gone. Years ago it was the place to go for good food. And in talking to people at work they agreed that, like myself, I will NEVER go to outback steakhouse again....wouldn't go if they gave me a free dinner.

Last night a friend treated me to a belated birthday dinner and let me pick where I wanted to go. I was torn between trying a new place or lobster here. I had been seeing ads on TV of their lobster and steak special. Outback won. We arrived very early to miss Friday night traffic and to be able to get a table in a restaurant that has mostly booths. I was happy to see more tables than I remembered. And they were all available. Despite this, the gals at the front desk seemed to have no idea where to put us when we asked for a table. Once that was decided, we were immediately brought drinks and offered appetizers. I was planning on a big dinner so I declined an appetizer. But my friend twisted my arm (it didn't take much force) and we ended up with a blooming onion. You know how hard it is to go to The Outback and NOT get one of these onions. He said he didn't think it was as good as usual, but I had no complaints and we ate almost the whole thing. I ordered 2 lobster tails steamed and he had the lobster grilled and steak. I'm remembering that first bite. It was so good! Red Lobster pales by comparison. The tails are a decent size and were not rubbery or overcooked. Our server, Shelby, was Johnny on the Spot with refills and offers of more melted butter, even though she is seven months pregnant. She even heard Kevin mention that it was my birthday meal and later said she'd overheard that and wanted me to have a complimentary dessert. She was friendly and very efficient and a very good server. She asked several times if we wanted drinks to go or a box for the teeny tiny bit of dessert we didn't eat. Loved that! Kevin thinks The Outback is too heavy-handed with pepper on their steaks. I am not a fan of garlic mashed potatoes. Why do people want garlic in their mashed potatoes? It makes them smell like smelly feet. But I doctored them up and they were okay. Everything else was perfect. As we left, a nice young man raced to open the door for us, thank us for dining there and invited us to come back soon, and to wish us a good night - like he meant it. It was a really tasty dinner and I recommend the lobster.

I'm giving it one star because the food was delicious. Should I end the review now? Of course not. This isn't the first time I've eaten here. A few years back I stopped and it was so awful, I didn't return until now. The service is still awful. I sat at the bar and it took us forever to be waited on and even longer to get our food. Of course it's Friday night but this place is empty. They have two people working the bar. Ashley and Joey. I overheard Joey talk about how long he's worked here and how he worked his way up from the bottom. He needs to start over. I overheard the girl say they were understaffed and oh well. I won't ever stop again. Ever. Do yourself a favor. Don't eat here. It will deter you from eating at the many wonderful Outbacks out there.

I've had a gift card for Outback sitting in the center console of my car for almost a year now. When someone in a group thread made a comment that sounded Australian the other day, it made me think about that gift card and how it was almost time for dinner. Seemed like a pretty simply solution to me. I live downtown and this Outback, clear on the east side, is the closest one to me. I placed my to-go order online and headed out the door. As I walked to my car, the email confirming my order was delivered to my inbox, and off I went to pick it up. Even though it's a bit of a drive, I made it to Outback at the exact time that my email said it would be ready. Using the curbside to go service, I whipped my Kia into the parking spot and my friendly server was at the car in less than a minute with my paper bag full of steak and lobstery goodness (thank you gift card). Having almost a 20 minute drive home, I was a little worried about how the food would keep as I drove home, and hoped that it was packaged well enough that the bumps along I-70 wouldn't cause an unfortunate incident. Arriving home, I unpacked my bag and was pleased that everything was well packaged and it survived the trip home.. including a turn that I took a little too fast and knocked the bag over. I unpacked everything and put it on a plate because I'm a fancy guy, and because steak knives, my lap, and styrofoam containers don't mix well. Everything needed warmed up. The baked potato came with the toppings on the side, so it made easy heating up. After about a minute in the microwave, everything was perfect. I'd definitely do curbside to go again here. It's a haul from downtown, but the food is well packaged, the service is super fast, and eating a steak and lobster tail half naked in front of the TV sure beats sitting in a restaurant.

Arrived at 4:15 pm, didn't get meal until 5:50. Poorly under-staffed: waitress Emily tried her best, but my group of 7 had to eat the appetizers with our fingers because there was no clean silverware available. Napkins were another issue as well. Terrible overall experience, and it was to celebrate a birthday. Too often 'Hit and Miss' at this location. Spin the wheel cause you really don't know what you will get. I certainly will not be back. Love the Outback! Food is great, ambiance is Down Under, can't complain! I usually get steak but occasionally call an audible and do a chicken which is also fantastic!

On a Friday night I expected Outback to have a wait so I did call ahead seating and despite the hostess advising there was no current wait I asked to be placed on any list as we would be arriving at 7:20 pm. When we showed up at 7:15, the hostess told me it would be a 45 min wait. When I told her we had called ahead, another hostess said 'Oh, I forgot to add you to the list.' ..... The lead host advised she would move us up the list but to still expect 20 min before being seated. At 7:52 we sat down. Our server greeted us but advised she was closing out a large table and it would be a few minutes. When she returned we ordered water, bar drinks, and an appetizer. The bar drinks and app came within 10 minutes and when the server returned we ordered our meal and I asked again for water and bread ( which usually comes out complimentary ) She stopped back by our table a few minutes later with no water or bread and was a little 'too cool' with us. She advised she was about to go on a smoke break and proceeded to tell us she was a recovering addict and that she was glad we were a 'white' table since her last party had been of ethnic decent and failed to tip her adequately. I was in shock at her statements but she hurried back towards the kitchen. 15 min later she comes back and I asked a third time for water and if we could get our salads since it was past 8:30. She then admits she forgot to put in our order?!? WoW. I honestly should have asked for the manager then but I just wanted to enjoy my meal and a second round of drinks. Finally at 9:04 food arrived. At this point we had been in the restaurant for 109 minutes and at a table for 72 minutes - inexcusable. On top of that my rare steak was OVERcooked and my boyfriend's well steak was UNDERcooked. We waited over an hour for food we were both displeased with. At this point I did ask for a manager, I failed to catch his name unfortunately. I explained the long wait, extremely relaxed and poor service, and incorrect food ( asking a fourth time for water and bread which he brought out promptly ) This is truly the trifecta of a poor dining experience - setting, service, and meal all were less than satisfactory. He offered to have the food recooked but neither of us wanted to wait longer to eat so he said he would adjust our bill, but when it arrived he had only taken $10 off the total. Basically the $7.89 appetizer plus it's tax was free. We paid full price for all drinks and two meals that were cooked wrong. Sigh, overall I like Outback a lot ( the only reason I gave 2 stars vs 1 ) but this particular experience was actually less than a 1 in my book, sadly disappointed.

This Outback is a fine location. The service was friendly, not the fastest but it was a busy night. They did run out of penne for my Mac a Rooni and Cheese but they alerted me and were able to make due.

Worst experience ever at an Outback (and i eat at Outback once a month). Food was disgusting. Hamburger was overcooked, shrimp was overcooked. Waited 20 min for soup then 30 minutes+ for meal and the food was basically inedible. Manager was understanding and comped the whole meal but I would definitely never go here again.

My wife and I went to the Outback at 2315 Post Dr Indianapolis, IN at 5pm. There were maybe 8 cars in the parking lot. The restaurant wasn't 1/3 full. As we entered the fellow on the door gave us a buzzer saying it would be five minutes or so until we could be seated. I looked around at all the empty seats. He replied "we don't have enough staff, it will take some time until we can serve you." WHAT?? OK, I decided to use the restroom while we waited. When I came out one of the hostesses was arguing with the doorman. What about I don't know, but they were loud. Then when she turned and left without seating us I'd had enough. We left. Servers or not, we would have liked to have at least been seated. We went next door and got immediate service.

Oh, Outback. You are so painfully average. I always feel like I'm just a little let down. My steak was good, but I ordered the diablo sauce topping, and I got the mushroom sauce. It was good, but I wanted the diablo. My wife's chicken sandwich was dry, but had great toppings. Good thing I had a gift card. I can't say that it was bad, but I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

Went here this past Saturday evening to eat and suffered through a horribly mismanaged front of the house. Our original quoted wait time was 15-20 minutes. The real kicker of the evening was watching as one of the hostesses attempted to seat a party that had only been waiting about 5 minutes. They were standing in front of an empty booth and she asked if it was their table and they told her no. She said "Well do you just want to go ahead and sit down?" We had already been waiting about 30 minutes, so this agitated my parents quite a bit and my dad informed the manager. The manager corrected the situation by explaining to the people the hostess had just seated that they would have to move and wait and apologized to them. The booth then sat empty for another 10 minutes. So after waiting 40 minutes from our arrival time I approached the hostess stand to inquire about how much longer our wait would be. The head hostess apparently had no idea, and told me she was going to get a manager. When he came to the stand the two hostesses wanted to bicker with each other about who was at fault for apparently misquoting wait times to half the people in their very crowed waiting area. The manager said it would be another 15 to 20 minutes. Yeah, we heard that 40 minutes ago buddy. So we left. This location has been getting increasingly worse when it comes to service, but this was bordering on ridiculous.

For a chain steak place, I was pleasantly surprised with this location. The girls at the hostess crowd seemed to almost be waiting for us (and they were crowded). Immediately taken to the rest of our family. The waiter seemed to appear in seconds for our drink order. Upon learning it was mother in laws 70th birthday he must have secretly alerted the manager. He came out and spent time with our table and wishing her a happy birthday and thanking her for picking that location to celebrate. Our appetizers were great, steaks cooked to perfection. Very positive experience and I would recommend this location.

Have never had a great dining experience at any chain restaurant, EVER until last night! Remarkable, hence this review: We were taken back with the genuine friendless and concern they had for their customers at this location. We even meet the owner who was a super nice guy, engaging not to mention that he was still at the restaurant when it closing as we were the last table, which is probably why this location is extraordinary! Driving my freshman son back to Chicago from the U of D Ohio for the Christmas break I decided not to do a fast food meal as he has been eating like a college kid so we pulled off the interstate and figured that Outback was the best sit down meal offered along the highway, which turned out to be a great call. We sat down in the bar area at about 9:20 and greeted by the waitress promptly. However the restaurant was just about to close and the waitress was concentrating on her closing side work, but we had the mission to get home asap. I leaned over to the bar after waiting for a while for the server and asked the bartender C.J. for a beer as there was a changing of the guards in the driving department. Dad had earned a cold beer after 9 hours stint of driving and C.J. was terrific, fast, gregarious and efficient. I'm sure the waitress would have been nice but really glad C.J. took care of us that night as he really went out of his way to make us feel welcome which was unexpected and much appreciated! As we were walking toward the car we remarked to each other that we instantly felt like regulars there. This Outback will be part of the many pilgrimages back and forth over the next four years Thanks Lads for a great experience! "Broke all the vanilla franchise rules,... Just Right!" Can't wait to return!

I am a big Outback fan. Usually get the Prime Rib which normally melts in your mouth. Today I decided to go for the Porterhouse. Let's back up. Arrived at 1:45 on a Sunday and there was a waiting list. It turned out to be just 20 minutes. I prefer tables so my wife and I got seated at a six seat round table. Waiter was nice but busy. He quickly got us drinks and I asked our orders come out as soon as they come up without any fine dining applied. The menus were left at the table the whole meal. No silver-wear corrected after we asked. Salad came out wrong - corrected with apology. No bread- corrected with apology. Salad and dressing - fresh and outstanding. Bar app blooming onions great. Porterhouse - cooked to perfection but looked more like a T-Bone and oh my I fought the grizzle every bite on the sirloin side. Mentioned to waiter but did not bother a manager. Baked potato nice. Wife's coconut shrimp big and plumb - great. Fries - nice. It was a bonus to have the lunch menu apply to weekends. This had the makings to be a 5 so easy but when the main course item fights back - and several items come out wrong or don't come out - two stars get deducted.

This happened in 2009 for my fathers birthday. I decided to take him out for his birthday so we choose this place as our destination. I understand waitresses etc can give bad service at times but you shouldn't expect it from the hostess and the assistant manager... We walked in about 5 pm and we was greeted by the hostess and they asked first how many and I said my father and I and then we asked if we can get a booth and the hostess said yeah there is booths around the bar so I in-turn said how about a table instead because I didn't want to be around the bar. My father and I saw on the left side of the room they was setting up for a party and there was sever tables and booths empty. So we looked at the right side of the room and saw a whole section wasn't being used. I asked how about over there and they said that section is booked by reservations and we asked the whole section and they said no but they had it closed and the hostess said their is a party going on on the other side. So the hostess said the only section open is the bar section so we ventured to the bar area and saw that we could not sit on the bar stools because they were so high off the ground and then we saw we could not fit in the booths. My father and I are hefty people and I don't believe even a skinny person would be comfortable in those booths... My father and I ventured out to the hostess where now it is the hostess and assistant manager and we told them we could not fit in the booths or seat on the stools. The hostess replied and said well if you can't sit in those sections then we can't serve you and the assistant manager backed her up with it. Who says that to a customer? Seriously? This angered my father and I because it felt the whole time they was discriminating against our size... They knew darn well we could not sit in the booths or on the stools in the bar area There was no reason to have that right side section closed off. So as we left we made sure that they knew they lost a customer for life. So we took our business to Long Horn which was better at hosting and accommodating my father and I. My father and I will never ever go back to this place... The rudeness and discrimination we received that day was appalling and will never be forgotten... Just figured I would share

I'm actually not always a big fan of outback, but this location seemed refreshingly different. Our first impression as we walked in was that it was just a normal busy Outback with a long wait, but we were seated quickly on a busy Friday night even though we had a large party of 8. Everything went smoothly with our meal. We all tried different dishes since the menu was new the week we visited. I had the tilapia with mixed vegetables. It was outstanding. Some other dishes selected by the group were steak, quesidillas, salad, and a BBQ combo plate. Everyone was pleased with the quality of their dish and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's my understanding that the restaurant has recently had a change in management. I'm not sure what it was like before, but it's being run quite well now in my opinion! It was very busy, but everything flowed like it was a light night. If you looking for a great meal and relaxing evening I'd try this Outback location anytime!

We had a gift card. I don't see why people like this place. I had the prime rib it was not the best choice.
