Healthy Meal suggestions for Outback Steakhouse

We were here for dinner last night, Tuesday June 30th around 430pm. We were seated in a booth in the bar area which was empty when we arrived but pretty busy by the time we left. Our service was pretty good. They brought out the bread which of all the restaurants we eat at is my least favorite but then i am not paying for it. We both ordered the Parmesan Chicken and it came with only one side which was a bummer. So I added the potato soup, hands down the best potato soup i have ever had in a restaurant, and i even left off all the good stuff like the bacon, cheese and chives. I could have licked the bowl. They had coke products, Yuck! So I got sweet tea which was good. For dessert we ordered this cookie in a skillet that had toffee, pretzel pieces, caramel and then a large scoop of ice cream on top. That dessert was heaven!!! Please go try it, as it is only a seasonal item and I will be devastated if they discontinue it. It was that good. This is the first time I have been here that I did not order steak and I was skeptical to order something else since this is a steakhouse but the food was very good. Too bad none of the management were visible or we would have told them just how much we enjoyed our dinner.

Why bother with the call ahead seating? Worthless... Was told 10 minutes, twice. 25 minutes between each request. Ugh! Update...spoke with manager Steven and he was apoligetic and bought our appetizer. Girl at the desk screwed up. As soon. As I complained, we were seated within 5 minutes. Had to complain or we would still be waiting.

I have had good experiences at the bar here in the past. Unfortunately it is changing. I need to remember my luck at chain restaurants. One of the reasons my wife and I would stop here in a pinch was for the excellent garlicky Caesar salad dressing that was made in-house. Unfortunately, no more. When ordering I asked for anchovies with my salad. I was told they no longer have anchovies because they quit making their own Caesar dressing. It was evident. Now, to me it is another boring dressing that does not really match its namesake. Disappointing. Food is generally good but may not be back because that salad was one of the main reasons we would stop.

Disclaimer on the 2 stars: the service has been pretty solid all 4 visits I've made to this location. However, out of 4 visits, my steak was overcooked every time, and it's a steakhouse. If you send it back, everyone is finished and you end up taking home a steak that will be overcooked when you reheat it anyway, and the manager there never comps the ruined entree. I wouldn't expect them to take care of the whole check, but it really does ruin the experience for everyone, especially on a rare date night. Mistakes happen, but I gave them a few chances, and they never made it right.

What happened? Slow getting food that was a bit cold and did not taste as good as it has in the past.

We went it on a Monday afternoon around 2:20. There were maybe two other customers there so they weren't exactly busy. We ordered a bloomin onion and it came out hot, delicious, and in a timely manner. I mean, holy cow was that thing good. Then we ordered two tacos each. About 30-40 minutes later they came out lukewarm on a burning hot plate. We said something to the manager but ate them anyways and he comped them for us. Had it not been for his and our waitresses wonderful service I would have given it a lower rating. Great customer service, kitchen staff needs work

Is there any feeling sadder than when your bloomin' onion breading sinks into the sauce? No, but seriously. I had Outback on my radar as little more than a high-end Chili's or Applebees. So instead when I walk in, I see a real strong focus on really good steak, not just advertisements for margaritas and shrimp poppers. I got the steak flight, which was delicious, but turned out to be completely unnecessary, because of two words: bernaise sauce. Seriously guys. Just go get a steak with bernaise sauce. Just do it. I actually closed my eyes for a moment to savor it's buttery creaminess, and then when I opened them I was astonished to find myself at an Outback Steakhouse. Go figure. Some of the steak was a little gristle-y, but the buttered green beans were very good. So, now I have to move Outback up my internal scale of good restaurants, to so-good-I-almost-can't-believe-its-a-giant-chain.

As far as steak chains go, Outback is pretty good. My daughter loves the cheese fries, complimentary bread and just the plain house salad. She has a very sophisticated palate. That's primarily why we hit up Outback once a month or so. We went on a Wednesday night for my Dad's birthday. My daughter had her usual (see above). I tried the two filet steak flight with mushroom sauce and brandy peppercorn sauce subbing the green beans for the pecan blue cheese chop salad. My steak was cooked perfectly, though had more fat than I would have liked. It was the perfect portion for me. I enjoyed the little potato pancakes too. My dad also had a steak. He had no complaints. They have great brewed iced tea. Always a bonus... Our server was all over drink refills/clearing plates/etc. She asked if we were celebrating a special occasion (yes please). She promptly brought a spotted dog sundae with a candle after our meal. I eat here primarily because my daughter loves it. I don't dine here with anyone else. I am just not a fan of chains overall. When you live in Avon...unfortunately, you are surrounded by them.

My boyfriend and I love this place! We come in here quite frequently so the servers/managers/bartenders recognize us and always make us feel right at home. The best thing about outback is the fact you get the same quality of food at whatever outback you go to. We always sit up at the bar so the service is amazing but we have sat in the main dining area a few times and received exception service there too! As far as appetizers go, the Ahi is amazing and the dips that go along with it are even better, For salads, we love the wedge. In fact, we cannot find a better wedge where ever we go (and we travel A LOT). But it does come with onions so we ask for it without. When it comes down to the main course, we LOVE the Prime Rib. Only a time or two we have had it cooked wrongly, but management always makes sure to take care of it. We love this place. It is also the only place (currently, since it is kind of out of season) that has Sun King Cream Ale, which is AMAZING! It's like 5.50 for a large but worth it! And lastly, as to talk to Garret, he's the manager and a pretty cool kid,

I was surprised! My hubby the carnivore really loved his steak. I had the salmon and it was great. I figured this place would be on par with TGIFridays or Applebees but it was way better. It was warm, excellent service (refilled my sodas jiffy on the spot) and hot food. Will go back!

I wanted a good steak and this Outback did not let me down. The 10oz rib-eye was tender, juicy, and the perfect Medium Rare that I wanted. The waiter was friendly and kept refilling our drinks before they were half empty. The only trouble was finding the dang place. Heading west from highway 465 Rockville Rd / Highway 36 counts up to 9200 and then when you cross South Raceway Rd then it jumps up to 10150 and stats counting down. Two miles away it hits the 9200 block again. Keep your eyes pealed on the right side if you pass Taco Bell and Five Guys you are going too far.

Outback steak! Need I say more?! I have never had something that I didn't like. The service is nearly always great. I love the bloom-in' onions.

Excellent service and the food came out hot. My steak was cooked perfectly. I have to admit that I have been dissapointed by Outback in the past but this time they hit it out of the park. I haven't been here in a while and it was nice to see they had a lunch menu and had a lunch portion option instead of the full dinner meal.

Average. The steaks here are okay. It seems like I have been to Outback before and felt like the steaks were more seasoned or more exciting in the taste department. The meal overall was okay as far as a chain restaurant goes. I would rate this as an average experience with average food.

Dont go on vacation and eat a chain steak house. There are way too many good authentic places around the area to waste your time or money!

Chain restaurant, check. Cheesy decor and menu that rarely changes, check. So why four stars? You can't beat the price for the level of service and the quality of food. With some restaurants, the food changes with the location or the chef on duty that day. With Outback, every time you go, it's exactly the same. Caesar salad is always loaded with parmesan cheese and super garlicky. Bread is always warm. Steak is always cooked to order and perfectly spiced. Strangly, even in Indiana, the crab is always fresh and cooked perfectly (and split for easy eating!). Say what you will about chain restaurants in general, but I really don't have much to complain about with this place. But get here early or late. Try to eat around 6 p.m. and the suburbanites swarm the place.

The food was good but there is absolutely no waiting room. After calling ahead, we still waited 45 minutes to be seated. Then, it took nearly 1 full hour from the time we ordered to when we actually got our food. Horrible service and not once were we offered an apology.
