Stopped in for a late lunch, and ordered some dips. The guacamole was fresh and flavorful, and the bean cheese dip was wonderful. But my favorite was the salsa, I've been to a lot of Mexican restaurants, and I've been to different parts of Mexico, but I've never tasted salsa this good. Don't miss this little gem of a place.

First time at this restaurant, it was alright. At 7 o'clock we got right in with no wait. Free chips and salsa, showed up to the table before I was even situated in my seat. The white queso was very good, little spicy which we like. I got the king burrito. It was mostly All ground beef and little shredded chicken. It was very big, as big as the plate. I also got a house margarita and aside from the fancy garnish it was mediocre. It was nice to try this place but I probably won't pick this over other Mexican restaurants in the area.

For a run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant, this one is actually not too bad. The service is fast and friendly and the food comes out hot. Not amazing, but it doesn't pretend to be, either.

Highly recommend the chicken fajitas- they also have very generous margaritas and delicious fresh guacamole. Great for families -- the staff are always super friendly!

Great place to fulfill your Mexican food cravings. Everything I've ever tried has been delicious and I've been coming here for years. Prices are very reasonable for the big portions served.

My burrito wasn't that good but the queso and salsa were. I feel they are priced a little bit higher than the surrounding Mexican restaurants. The customer service wasn't all that great. Overall I wouldn't come back and would just visit a different one down the road.

Always yummy. We go here for lunch. I finally stepped out and tried something other than the chimichanga...however it is my favorite. Super tender chicken...cheese sauce. Chips and salsa are always good. One of my favorite places to grab Mexican at lunch.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Service has slowed down my last few visits but the food and margaritas are still the same...awesome!

I had heard so many good things about this place. While it was ok, it wasn't what I expected. The salsa and white queso were very good. I got an enchilada and chicken taco. The meat was dry and bland. Kick it up a notch! The toppings were good, beans rice red sauce lettuce. All seemed fresh and good. Price was good at about 25 bucks with a beer and queso app. Overall it was just ok we will continue to sample the surroundings and see what we like.

My Fiancé and I went to Mexico City Grill for lunch. The food was good.....not a huge fan of the salsa (little watery). We got the queso dip though and it was very good. I had the fajita quesadilla with steak and it was great. The service wasn't bad at all and we will most definitely revisit.

Mexico City Grill is the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. I would go there once a week if I could! They have delicious salsa with hot tortilla chips. My two favorites on the menu are the Pulquero Burrito and the Nachos Mama, but everything I have tried here is very tasty. They have great margaritas (and are very generous with the tequila). I've only gotten the sangria once, and it wasn't the best so I would advise staying away from that. If you have never been here, go and make sure you try the Pulquero Burrito!!

Service, price and speed of delivery was good. Could've done without the power vacuum in the dining area during lunch hour. A half cup of Queso is $4, seems pricey for this restaurant.

Dinner was very good starting with warm chips, homemade salsa and cheese dip. Followed by the Mexican pizza and fajita burrito. The beverages were nicely chilled too. Service was friendly and prompt.

Stopped in for lunch and had a delicious Pulquero Burrito, it was stuffed with Grilled Chicken, Mushrooms and Spinach. The flavor was outstanding and the service was fast. Their lunch specials are only $5.99 for the entire lunch menu. The meal included Chips and salsa and the soft drink refills were very welcome on a very warm day. Exceptional value

Mexico City Grill is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the city. My favorite dish is the Burrito al Pastor, which is barbecued pork and pineapple wrapped in a flour tortilla with melted cheese on top. I've also had good experience with the Enchiladas Monterrey. In my experience, the small margaritas are plenty potent. I was, however, kind of bummed that they only come on the rocks.

Excellent service! Free chips and Salsa is also excellent. Nice and clean environment and food is great too.

My family comes here at least once a week. The chips and salsa are excellent. Definitely get the queso. Portions are generous and the staff is always friendly. The new bar seating is a nice addition to the place.

I sat down and the waitress was there immediately. I wasn't ready to order so she said "I come back" I ordered a jumbo margarita when she came back. The Margarita tasted kind of like the urine smell at a zoo. That's my best description. Salsa is phenomenal and the chips were good too. Waitress was in my face constantly to get my order. Not in a pushy way, just overeager. Ordered fajitas and they were served sizzling. Waitress brought me more ice for my marg. I guess urine is better with ice. Food was OK, Margaritas were nasty.

This place is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is festive and fun, the prices very reasonable, and the portion sizes huge. My husband ordered the Mexican Pizza and I had a chicken Chimichanga. I would highly recommend both dishes. The chicken in the chimichange was tender and flavorful. The chips and salsa were good as well, though the salsa was a little runny. The service was fast and pleasant too. In the waitress who served us had just started that day, but you would never know it. I will definitely visit Mexico City Grill again, and I highly recommend you give it a try. It will exceed your expectations!

Great authentic food. Good chips and salsa. I had the enchilada. Also good. My friend had the very tasty cerviche. Recommended although the atmosphere is not much.

I love this place! Great food, at a good price. I highly recommend the Cancun Carne Asade burrito. The free chips and fresh made salsa is a huge plus. The portions are huge!

Best Mexican in the city! A hidden gem, I didn't find it until just recently. I'm in love with their chimighangas - they are superb and the most deliciously filling in all of Indy. The salsa (served with chips, and free for sitting down) is clearly homemade, but the queso dip is just to die for. If you're a drinker, the smallest margarita on the rocks leaves a little to be desired. It always feels like more ice than drink. But once you get into bigger sizes, they're the perfect balance and very tasty. I'm always happy and full when I leave here. And of course, it's close to Ritters, so you can always skip dessert at the restaurant and follow up with custard.

We were in a hurry for a quick lunch. We were on this side of town due to an appointment. Overall I was under impressed. To be fair the service was good. My enchalada sauce was not good, tasted like burnt mole sauce. I don't like mole sauce and really don't like burnt mole sauce. The rice I got was mushy and frankly didn't have much taste.. My lunch date got a chicken fajita salad and it seemed like the chicken was not drained. The shell of the salad was sitting in a lake of liquid which was not sauce making the shell a soggy mess. She liked the chips and salsa however I was not a fan of the chips. The salsa tasted homemade and the temperature (spicyness was appropriate.) The service was ample and friendly and we did get in and out in 40 minutes. However, I can't say I would return with other options I like better just down the road.

Our favorite Mexican on the Southside. Most of the time the service is on the slow side but the good is well worth it.

The salsa is delicious and fresh with a little kick. The rest of the food is inconsistent. I have been there when the fajitas and chimichangas would rival the best in Indy, then there have been times when it was just alright. The service depends on the server, some are rude and slow, some are fast and friendly. Your experience will vary depending on the chef and the server. I love the "Kids Eat Free" Mondays when you buy an adult entrée you get a free kids meal. I am a Veteran, so I appreciate that the owner is patriotic and that his son served in the Corp.

Mexico City Grill is alright - I had lunch with some co-workers and a client here so I didn't get to consume any of their reportedly tasty margaritas. The interior is cute but the wooden chairs are seriously uncomfortable! I struggled a little with the menu, hoping to find something on the "lighter" side - no dice. Everything seems to be fried or covered with gloppy cheese. I would have been happy with a taco plate or something, which surprisingly is not an option. I ended up with arroz con pollo - the chicken was actually really good. I also tried the famous queso that almost everyone else has mentioned. It is REALLY good - I could see coming back for some tasty margaritas and a bunch of that cheese dip for sure. Service was good too - things were delivered fast and the people that work here seemed genuinely nice.

Our waitress was amazing. One step ahead of the game for sure. The queso - to die for. I mean.... really. I will absolutely be back. My mouth is watering just typing this review out - that's just how good it was.

The Emerson location was my second of three visits to any Mexico City Grill in the city. First of all the restaurant doesn't stand out any more than any other typical "authentic" Mexican restaurants. This visit was awful. I got a plate full of soaked soft tacos and a server who didn't check back or offer refills on anything. Whether they were swimming in the tasteless ground beef taco water or lettuce runoff? Either way, it was a HUGE disappointment. The only thing that may have redeemed this brand's name in my favor was hesitantly retrying this restaurant at the Fishers location with people who vouched for the store. I was pleasantly brought back by the fact that they serve lamb taco meat which is a rare find. Not drive 30 minutes back, but back enough that if I was in the neighborhood and it sounded good, that's where I might go. I loved it! The lamb was moist, flavorful, and not a mess of water all over my plate. But as far as the Emerson location, I have concerns. I don't recall seeing lamb tacos on the Emerson menu, but even if there were, I still wouldn't go back to that location.

Fajitas for two. I've been here before and had some ok to decent food, but once I tried the Mexico City Fajitas I never wanted anything else. Chicken, beef, shrimp, peppers, and onions, served with tortillas and fajita fixins. You can order them for one or for two, and although fajitas for one could easily feed you and your date the $20 price tag for a mound of food can't be beat. The Cancun margarita, a twist on the classic with pineapple juice, is also a standout.

It's...okay. Tastes just like any El Rodeo or Los Rancheros. If you've eaten at one you've eaten at them all. I think they might be a little higher priced too.

The only thing good about our meal was the queso. The salsa was bland and the food had no flavor. I got the Fajitas with steak, chicken and shrimp and my boyfriend said it was some of the worse steak he's ever had. It was so blah that I even left my leftover food, which I hardly ever do. I'd much rather go further down the street to the other Mexican restaurants in the area.

On a positive note they are cheap and fast. They give you free chips and salsa. I ordered ala carte the chili releno the breaking was soggy not crisp and the cheese was not melted in the center very disappointed and I did not finish it. I also ordered a shrimp quesadilla i tried it Fajita style with onions and peppers it was just ok, a little dry and no lettuce or salsa etc came with it . My friend ordered the same, she also was disappointed, we won't return

Excellent shrimp fajitas and pleasant service. I do think the margaritas are a tad too sweet but otherwise this is a great place and always busy.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
