Metro is great. I don't live far from this place, so I'm frequently here. Are you gay? Great. Come to Metro! Are you straight? Great. Come to Metro! I feel like a lot of gay bars are a pretty exclusive crowd, but metro is an extremely diverse environment. No matter who is in your party, you'll all feel comfortable and welcome. Drinks are pretty good. I've had some hit or miss experiences, but overall I think you're going to be happy with whatever you get. In the summer time they have slushies. For $8 they're a bit pricey, but with one sip you'll realize how much alcohol they have mixed into them. That's a good thing. I didn't really expect the food quality to be that great. I usually go to bars for drinks and restaurants for food, but Metro has great food. You'll enjoy it. My one complaint is that people can smoke on the patio. Maybe that's a positive for you. If so, I think you're gross. The second floor balcony doesn't allow smoking, so you'll probably find me there making fun of people at Tini's. Which brings me to my next review...

I've been to metro lots of times over the years I don't fortunately the service remains the same. I was there Wednesday night for dinner around 730-8 o'clock. We were excited to eat dinner because metro has some of the best foods. UnFortunately, we waited at our table outside for about 18 minutes and no one even approached us to offer drinks or even say it would be a minute. I went in approach the bartender on two different occasions to ask if there was a waitress outside and he simply stated " she would be out soon". There was two other tables outside that were never approached either and they ended up walking out also. No matter the time of day or night the service outside it is always slow. you're lucky if I a waitress even comes to your table. It's really disappointing because we went to a restaurant down the street and spent over $50 for meal and drinks that could've been used at the metro.

This is , usually, my "go to " place. However, I only have a day or 2 off during the week; no weekends. I NEED this time to decompress and relax. Tonight, however, this bar insisted on having the Presidential debates on EVERY TV. I even asked for something sporting to be put on ONE frigging TV. I was denied. Why, for heaven's sake, should I be forced to listen to Trump's blather when I just want to relax???? All the employees could say was, "The owner wants us to put this on the TV!" Well, OWNER, I won't be back on my precious days off. You lose!!!

Metro is definitely a bar of all sorts. You can karaoke, you can have a chill drink with friends or a date, you can have dinner or some drunk food, and you can dance and play pool. The drinks are moderately priced and affordable and you get quite a bit of liquor for your money! The interior is a bit outdated and the bathrooms always weird me out cause there's no stall or divider in between the toilet and urinal so definitely try to get in by yourself or have a friend be on watch haha! The staff are friendly and helpful and overall, a good multi-purpose bar!

Best watering hole in Indy!! If you didn't know, this is a gay bar but it's very open to people of all persuasions. From the very friendly and knowledgeable bar staff, to karaoke nights, to the dance floor on weekends to the pool tables and other diversions, this is just a great place to come alone, with friends, or to make new friends. And the drink prices are quite affordable for Mass Ave. You are guaranteed to have a great time!

Whatever, I love the Metro. It is so the gay Cheers. I know I didn't start that comparison but I will bandwagon with it. The music is fun, the staff is nice, the patrons are relaxed, and there is always something you enjoy on special because there is always 1,000 drink specials. Sundays and Mondays are the best days in my opinion because the Metro is the place where people go when there isn't much else going on because it is always going on. They have great mimosa prices on Sundays, too.

Great bar. I love the way the place is set up with the two different atmospheres of the first and second floor. In good weather it's nice to set outside and have a cold beer. The people are easy going. I've never had trouble with anyone here. The service is quick and accurate. Anytime I am in this area I try to stop in with some friends.

This loaded mac & cheese was phenomenal! I made the mistake of ordering something else as well...totally unnecessary. The staff is extremely friendly... I will surely be coming back in the near future.

Come one come all, hell just show up as you are. Conventionally located on Mass Ave, you will find Metro. This bar has as dual personality that depends upon what level your on. The first floor contains a full bar and dining area with comfortable bar chairs. The dining area transforms into a karaoke viewing area and depending on how the crowd is feeling the music a small dance floor on Tuesday and Thursday. If your not feeling the vibe, just head up stairs to the 2nd floor. This floor contains a smaller bar as well as 4 pool tables ($1 a game, quarters only). Amazingly there is also a smaller dance floor as well. If the weather is nice, there is a patio on the first floor as well as a small smoking patio on the second floor. I have only been here for drinks and the prices seemed decent for chilled fireball shots as well as an assortment of other mixed drinks. The servers are friendly. You might even catch them belting out a tune on Karaoke nights. One of the biggest pluses is that if you time it right, parking is free on Mass Ave after 9 PM Monday - Saturday and free all Sunday.

Metro was the first bar we stumbled across when we moved to Indianapolis and boy has it change in the past few years. The interior was completely redone about a year ago and it looks great. They opened it up nicely and during the cold season they usually have the upstairs open to relieve the crowds. Bars on both levels mean you never wait long for a drink. Food-wise, Metro is ok. Typical gay bar food. Nachos where the cheese is like one big sheet (still love them), and lots of fried things, not bad but not good. In the summer, the patio is a nice touch. They recently gave it a minor facelift and it looks nice. Great place in the spring to enjoy that first outdoor beer. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and efficient. This is a great stop on any trip to Mass Ave.

My friend: What are you doing? Come meet me for drinks! Me: OK girrrrl where?! F: This place called Metro, its fun..hurry up. AND that, ladies and gentlemen, is how an amazing night of dancing started.. I walked up and the staff was completely kind and humorous, they didn't stare at my ID for hours or harass me when I had no clue of what drink I should order at the downstairs bar. You know I'm choosey! I walked in to see a very soothing atmosphere, nice lighting, good ambiance, with clusters of tables and chairs in what looked like a dining area. There is a bar against the right wall with lots of selection and a few televisions above. Straight ahead is a staircase with a mirrored back wall.. and chandelier...it's fabulous, all of it! Almost directly up the stairs is another bar and small dance floor, divided into two sections. Somehow they even squeezed a pool table in. On the opposite end of the dance floor is a second exit, as well as an outside porch/patio. I love how there are a few secret spots in the building. I have only gone three or four times, and mostly on nights that my friends are dj'ing so of course I love the club area! One night, there was a retro video-dj and that was a cool experience. The crowd is fun, friendly, and will dance with you nonstop. Girl scouts honor, probably the best pre-party fun I have had in a long time. I didn't get groped or excessively hit on and that was so different from a lot of the other clubs available downtown. You can dance without a care. There was some friend drama (per usual) and I went on to find a place with a little better drink specials. I believe $6 vodka mixes, the night I went. I would recommend this place to anyone! Favorite things I admire: The architecture. That superb mirrored wall. The dance floor! Werk it. :) xoxo

Metro is on the heart of Mass Ave close to a number of great places. If you are looking for love music, look no further. Fridays seem to have live music and pretty good drinks specials. There are two levels at Metro. Downstairs has a bar and dinning area. It tends to be a bit more quiet so you can have a few bar bites with friends. They have a pretty selection. I personally like the nachos, just ask for extra salsa. Upstairs is the pool table and dance floor. There is also a bar and you can order food as well. The music tends to be more dance music! The best part of Metro is the outdoor patio. It's a great place to sit and relax as the sun goes down. The staff at Metro is very friendly. The crowd is pretty mixed - guys/gals, older/younger. No one is pushy! They take credit cards which is a plus and they have pull tabs! Maybe you will get lucky!

Hey Metro, I'm sorry it has taken me so long to give you the love you deserve. I'll have you know, you're my late, late night bar of choice. Why, you ask? Well, the happening techno jives upstairs doesn't hurt to start. Or the uber-friendly and welcoming crowd that you tend to attract. Lastly, your drink prices don't leave me scrunching up my face every time I "order another". (which tends to become quite frequent by the time I've moseyed my way up the stairs to your inconspicuous cozy club. I love how you somehow pull off two totally different environments (laid back wooden bar with high tops downstairs and low-lit, bouncing music party atmosphere upstairs) under one roof. Shots appear to be quite popular upstairs. Oh, and there's a pull table up there too. What else can I say? If you find yourself hopping in and out of bars on Mass Ave, make the Metro your cherry on top for the night!

My favorite spot in Indianapolis! It's got so much character and distinctly different areas, you'd be hard-pressed not to find what you're looking for. They have good drinks and specials, and the good is amazing. You have to try the mac and cheese bowls and the broccoli and cheese rangoons. The staff is so friendly, and they'll treat you right so long as you don't act like an idiot. The people who wrote reviews on here complaining about the service being rude were obviously not being good, polite patrons themselves.

I've been here a few times before they remodeled and really enjoyed this place. Now that they have remodeled, it looks amazing and the new decor suits this place much better. With great drinks, and even better food, Metro is a great place to get together with your friends for a great night out, or even just a few drinks!

This is a review for Metro as an earlier spot. As in coming here before 8pm. We were walking down Mass Ave and finding every place packed with a 30+ minute wait for two. A lot of the restaurants that had the wait were not worth it. Enter Metro, which appeared almost empty and advertised a barbecue chicken sandwich special. Two female bartenders and some friendly, chatty patrons. Decor overall is a little dated, particularly the carpets, and the whole place reeks of stale smoke. What's funny is that this didn't come up on Yelp for this area when I searched "restaurants" even though they serve food, and actually have a pretty good food menu. Nachos, burgers, a balsamic chicken pesto sandwich, mac and cheese, boneless wings, etc. And weirder is that there is no indication that this is a gay bar from the outside, and even the interior is hard to figure out. My wife noticed a penis bottle opener, and most of the patrons and staff seemed to be gay, so we just assumed and, reading the reviews later, just confirmed it. It's weird because, in most other cities, gay bars fly the pride flag on the outside, or at least have something inside to indicate what they are. Maybe this place doesn't want to turn anyone off? Maybe they're more worried about harassment in Indiana (the gay bar in Bloomington also is pretty discrete)? I don't know... But the food was actually pretty decent. The chicken was dry and the fries weren't great, but I was happy to have something to eat that didn't taste awful and didn't require an hour wait. They did use romaine for lettuce (nice) and everything was generally well-cooked. Plus, they were really quick, and we were able to get to our show at the Murat without being too late. I really appreciated that. Food was pretty cheap too. Both of our sandwiches were $8 with a side, and everything else was under $10. Draft beer selection wasn't great: Stella, Flat 12 Walkabout and some domestic swill. But they strangely had a really good craft bottle selection with about 15 options. Definitely on the pricey side. I think my Widmer black IPA was at least $5 based on the total bill. The specialty cocktail list looked really, really good though, and we may end up coming back for that at some point. This would be a 3.5 if I could give it out. Certainly not a bad option on Mass Ave, but there are other places with better food, for sure. We may come back here later at night one time, more for the bar and club scene, and have a fantastic time. I just wanted to put it out there that this is an earlier option.

Ah, the Metro. Where do I begin?! I've been frequenting this place for a few years now, and it seldom disappoints. It is a gay bar, but everyone is welcome. The drinks are strong and reasonably priced, and something is always going on it seems. Tuesdays and Thursdays are karaoke nights, Wednesdays are for poker tournaments, and one night is free pool. Things don't usually liven up until later in the evening, so it's great if you're looking for a quiet after-work libation or if you're looking to get a little wild. If you're not feeling what's going on downstairs, then head upstairs! They host a jukebox with a good selection of tunes as well as pool tables. DJs and dancing somtimes replace the pool tables which mixes things up a bit. In the summer, the Metro has one of the best patios. Ultimately, everyone should try out the Metro.

Nice gay bar downtown with a "Cheers" like atmosphere....with a modern twist. 2 floors, outdoor patio, karaoke on Tuesday and Thursdays, huge TV (it's literally like 100 inches I think), pool tables, darts, Touch Tones juke box.....all in all, if you are looking for a night out without all the fuss, this is place is a must try.

I get all warm & fuzzy when I walk into this bar. Not only because of the strong drinks, but also because it's very welcoming. This place is usually my last stop when pub crawling on Mass Ave. Never disappointed.

Quite possibly the friendliest and most accepting "Gay" bar on the planet. I am straight but I have been at Metro on numerous occasions (with gay friends, with my wife, and with straight friends just to shoot pool). Be sure not to skip over Metro on your Mass Ave bar hops. No stigmas or social divisions for any patron to concern themselves over here. Plus the mixed drinks are strong just like the should be.

I've been here a few times over the last few years and somehow missed THE BEST PATIO IN TOWN. Seriously, I was here last weekend and the patio is freaking amazing. Lots of seating, beautiful trees, fenced in so you don't have to look at the alley, great lighting/ambiance. The only down side was that you had to go inside to the bar to get your drink - if there was a server out there to bring them to me, it would have been absolutely perfect.

I frequent the Metro for their Wednesday night poker tourney. Starts at 7:30. It is ran by a super nice guy and the atmosphere is very laid back. Great for beginners. When I am there I always find a reason to order a sandwhich (usually club). It is not for the sandwhich though. The whole reason is to enjoy their awesome homemade potato chips! They are the tastiest chips I have ever had. Straight friendly, gay friendly, but just plain friendly people keep me coming back!

Shocked I'm the first to write a review for this Mass Ave gem though I'm sure many were scared off by the surly old men sitting at the bar upon entry. The Metro is a great place for a quiet drink or dinner before hitting a real club. Divided into four areas with totally different vibes, it can be the spot for all types: The front bar area has large flat-screens, a heavy cloud of cigarette smoke, regulars talking about how regular they are that week, and generous bartenders. The dining room is the quietest option with plenty of four-tops, a usually attentive waitstaff, and pepto bismol walls...not the prettiest area, but serves it's purpose for a no-pressure room. The staircase takes you from pepto to peppy with the upstairs decorated with neon lights, a pool table and the most club-like environment in the place. My favorite spot, mainly to escape the smoking at the bar, is the patio area. I didn't know about it until this past summer, but you get a waiter, the weather and wieldy gay boys not yet fully geared up for Talbott. I've heard that karaoke at the Metro is great, but haven't been myself. They also have a gift shop attached for the gay paraphernalia addict in all of us.

Had a killer time doing karaoke and dancing last night. They clearly stole the decor from a hotel lobby, but the atmosphere was friendly and fun!

The metro is my new favorite place to go after work with my partner grab a veggie burger and some beers, the atmosphere is quite before 10pm the bartenders and servers are always nice and helpful the beer is good pool tables are nice , the pool sticks are in great shape no need to bring your own if your like me and enjoy the sport of playing pool with your own pool cue.

I had a blast here on a Thursday night doing karaoke. We were every stereotype of drunk white girls doing Bonnie Tyler on karaoke and the crowd was so nice to us. The bartenders were fast and friendly, drinks reasonably priced, and there's no cover.

Had dinner here on Friday night. The fare is typical bar food with some interesting twists. The drinks were nice and strong, so that was a good start. We ordered an appetizer sampler with fried pickles, crab balls, and loaded french fries. All delicious! I ordered the Mass Ave chicken with a baked potato. It was decent. My fiance had the steak - why he ordered that I will never know! It looked like a piece of burned beef. Everything was fairly inexpensive, compared to other places in the area. FYI - this place is an "alternative" club, so don't go if you're not openminded.

I've been here with good friends and gay friends and even my boyfriend... and they all liked it. There's good food, great karaoke, stiff drinks, and dildos for sale. The bartenders will get to know you, the pool tables are usually free, and there's never a line at the ladies room.
