My boyfriend and I have been here twice now. Both times the food and service were excellent. The salsa and entrées tasted very fresh and homemade and came out quickly. Servers were both friendly and quick. The frozen peach margaritas are perfect! Price is great for the quality too! We will definitely be back!

This place was a frequent of my wife and I. We literally used to come every Wednesday and even some more. Slowly the service has gotten absolutely horrible. In one occasion, we came in 20 minutes before lunch ended, and because the server literally took 25 minutes to get to us, he refused to let us order off the lunch menu, even though it was all his fault. I even told him we waited for him much before time expired, he said oh well. Just a few weeks ago we came in and asked for Victoria, whom a few weeks before we brought guests with us and tipped her 25 on 60 for her outstanding service and attitude because she is thier best server. We were told she wasn't working, so the young white kid sat us at a table that was not in his section, then proceeded to argue about our table with our actual server 10 feet away at the host stand... Our server was even rude to us, he had short hair and glasses, and he always has an attitude. This was extremely uncomfortable. One occasion our server Octavio felt that cleaning his section and ignoring us was his best course of action, and never offered a refill to my wife, and when she asked for one, still didn't get it. He kept walking by our table waiting for us to leave and never did anything but take our order and give us the check. And for the latest story in this very disorganized place called Margaritas, I recommended this place to my boss, who owns and operates a very successful restaurant. She went in a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday night, after waiting for a while, her server comes to her, pulls out his phone and tells her that they close in 20 minutes and that she needed to hurry with her order. He left the table for her to decide what meal she would have after waiting for so long, but as we all know, when you're rude to a table and pull your phone out and recommend they hurry, the guest leaves, and that is exactly what she did. She even tried calling the restaurant after she got to her car, and gee guess what...... No answer. This place shows that some places literally have two good servers who care. That's all this place has, I've never seen a manager there or seen anything that shows this place has some sort of organization. I'm tired of wasting my time and money on horrible service and disgusting attitudes. If you go, sit in Victoria section or don't go at all. I'm done with this place for good. One last thing I'll say, the food is amazing and so is the beer prices. The kitchen gets it right, but the service drives people away.

I wasn't sure what to expect with Margaritas but I must say that I was impressed. I called ahead and ordered carry out and my order was ready at the promised time and tasted great. I had chicken tacos and an order of guacamole. The food was hot when I got it and they gave me more than enough guacamole and chips! Inside the restaurant was nothing special but I wouldn't let that stand in your way of trying out this place.

I eat here often. It is one of the better Mexican restaurants around. Yes, I know the menu is pretty much the same as any other Mexican restaurant but the food is superior. I love the seafood chimichanga. It is stuffed full of whole shrimp, fish, and crab. Yes, it is faux crab meat. Thanks for asking. But they make up for it because the fish is also faux tilapia, made from processed and textured lobster tails. (Kidding!). The table side guacamole is fresh and tasty. And I love their fish tacos. Even the rice side dish seems more flavorful than many I've had. The service is always superior and the prices are competitive. Even their beer is priced right.

Environment is nice, fairly big place but not too crowded together. Chips and salsa rock, I usually like spicier salsa but even this is a good mild. I've only ordered beef tacos so far, but they remind me of how Fiesta Ranchera used to do theirs. Not too greasy, but just enough. Rice is good as well. Have not ordered from the bar yet, but I'm not a huge margarita fan so my opinion isn't the best. All in all, really good place that's near enough to me, best food in the vicinity by far.

This is the far superior location to its sister restaurant in Greenwood off 135 and Smith Valley. The food is consistently good. My only complaint and docking of .5 stars would be the service has been less than stellar on more than a few occasions but the food keeps us coming back. If you are in a rush ask the wait staff to bring you your check as soon as you get your food or you will be waiting an extra 30+ minutes to leave.

I love this restaurant soooo much! They have REAL chicken, steak & FRESH seafood! Everything is cooked to order & they have table side guacamole if you'd like!! I am so comfortable with this place, that I have been trying different things on the menu that I have never had before && I like all of it! I have yet to try an alcoholic beverage here, but I will update on that if I do! ;-)

This was my first trip here in quite a while. I had the Fajita Funditas, which is a giant hot plate of Fajita goodness consisting of beef, chicken, shrimp, peppers and onions. It was fresh, hot and delicious. And a 32 ounce beer for under four bucks!

This used to be good... not sure what happened with the name change over, but it's not what it used to be. The food is just OK and the service is spotty. There are far better Mexican places in town.

I have very few requirements for Mexican restaurants (the non-authentic kind), and this one met all of them. Fresh-made salsa, good margaritas, and tasty food. I ordered the quesadilla roja with beef and a large margarita. (The margarita was on special that night.) The service was fast and reliable. The decor is bright and fun. All in all, a good dining experience.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant on the south side. The food is good, quick, and cheap. I'm picky about my chips and salsa (funny that my favorite part is free, right?), and theirs are both good. Plus, they have good specials on super-huge beers. Can't beat that!

I love Margaritas because of their friendly staff. They also have the best Margaritas in town!

Our daughter recommended this place to us so our family went there to celebrate Mother's Day and her graduation from college. Right away, my husband noticed some disorganization. It took a while for our waiter to take our drink order. We also ordered their cheese dip. When he brought them over we didn't get the salsa and chips with it. In anyplace else it is the very first thing we get. After another 10 to 15 minutes later he finally took our food order. I complained when we had been there for 50 minutes and had not gotten our food yet. The waiter blamed the wait on the number of tickets in the kitchen. There was a sign posted in front that all mothers would get a discount today and a cheesecake desert. We were not offered any from the waiter. We got the discount when we went to pay, but by then we were pretty disappointed. This restaurant will not survive if they keep this up. It's a shame that you have to ask for discounts or you don't get them. It's also a shame that they don't feel the need to admit they gave us bad service and apologize. There were three women at the counter when we were paying and not one said they were sorry. For that reason alone we will not be. They get one star from me only cause their shrimp was good.

Great authentic Mexican restaurant! Make-at-your-table guacamole is DELICIOUS! Super chips and salsa. Enjoyed a pitcher of margaritas. Dinner menu is extensive and reasonably priced. Good food.

I have to say with a name like "Margarita US 31 Mexican Restaurant" I had very low expectations of what they would offer. It has a generic location (strip mall) and a generic name. I was impressed with the service, the food and the margaritas which were $5 on Cinco de Mayo. It might be generic on the outside, but has some flair after all. Check them out.

Everything you'd want in a local Mexican place: good salsa, fast service and ample menu. Try the corn tortilla tacos adada. Everything is priced than you might expect at a Mexican place, but it's all worth it.

Two words; gringo's delight. It is what it is, the two-star review is not necessarily a bad thing, this is just a two-star restaurant and it would be unfair to give higher praise than that. The prices are the saving grace of this establishment. A party of two can both enjoy a cold, large mug of acceptable and probably-not-homemade horchata; a plate with underseasoned rice and beans; and a selection of burritos, tamales, enchiladas, etc for under $30. The quality and flavor of the food is passable, though nothing too exciting. A plate arrives and everything is swimming in a dull molé. The service is mostly nonexistent. I believe we saw our server twice all night, but the tables and floors are clean at least.

Stopped in to Margarita for dinner and enjoyed my experience. The food was delicious and came out very hot. I love that they had a vegetarian section on their menu which made ordering very easy. Our server was a bit slow and forgot to bring my drink for quite some time, then only did when reminded. However, the food made up for it. The décor is bright and creates a very fun atmosphere.

Good vegetarian Mexican food can be hard to come by and Margaritas has a phenomenal veggie burrito. Their salsa is solid as well as their guacamole. Of course the main reason to come is their Margaritas. Very good and reasonably priced.

Psst. Can I tell you a secret? Well it's not really a secret we all know it. Much like Chinese/Indian/Mexican is one giant smorgasbord of sameness. Oh sure there's varying degrees of sameness, some do it better than others but in the end just like going into an Chinese buffet you know what's coming. I got the Jalisco, beef/chicken wife got "Tierra y Mar" shrimp and skirt steak, again not bad necessarily but nothing different than any other, she claimed it was hot but then again everything is hot to her. Both were house specials but were nothing special to me. Wife's drink Orcharta was good. Service was good, attentive up until we got our food then dude disappeared until we were finished. No biggie since I didn't need anything just something I noticed. I wish yelp would give half stars as many have stated since they don't I have to give a 2 instead of 3 stars.

We had a large group here and everyone enjoyed the food. The table side guacamole is so fresh and delicious. If you have a big group, order two. We got the nachos to share while we perused the menu and they were tasty. Half beef and have chicken, literally. We enjoyed it. Quesadillas, fajitas, chimichangas and burritos all hit the table piping hot. We devoured it. I think this is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area.

I went for lunch around 2:00pm on Friday, and it was moderately crowded. I got pretty full on their chips and salsa, which were pretty delicious. Ordered a water to drink, and for my entree the Burrito Del Golfo, which is just a burrito with shrimp, krab meat, and some kind of fish, and came with rice and guacamole salad. My waiter brought me a second bowl of salsa because I devoured the first one pretty fast. Total bill was like $7.61 plus tip. Service was fast and friendly!

Vaya con Margaritas! Hidden in this suburban sprawl is a Mexican restaurant that you might otherwise miss. The core of the menu is your standard Mexican family restaurant offer. Nothing exciting but executed as usual. The real find here is the homemade guacamole. They will bring a cart of ingredients right to your table and make it in a large mortar. It doesn't get any more fresh than this. Everything here comes in XXL. Get a 27 ounce margarita, a 32 ounce beer and the mortar of guacamole. That alone is a mountain of food and drink but it is just the start.

Third update. Someone else wanted to go there and they paid so I agreed to meet them there or else I would not have gone. Still the same and even one less star. Good luck even getting any service here. Its night and day from how it used to be. I wont set foot in here again. The food is cheap here because well....the food quality - is cheap!

Very friendly service. Rice and beans were standard Americanized mexican fare but delicious. The salsa and chips were fresh and yummy. Quesadilla was generic. I ordered a cheese enchilada but received a cheese quesadilla and did not have time to have the misdake corrected. Crunchy beef taco could have used more flavor. Would go back when craving more Americanized Mexican food.

I genuinely believe Margaritas has the best Burrito I have ever eaten. Margaritas were great. Fried ice cream was excellent. But, WOW was that burrito ever AMAZING! You owe it to yourself to try this place!

I am so happy we finally tried Margarita. It's situated in a nondescript plaza right behind Walmart, so the location isn't anything special, but it's right near our house. Upon entering Margarita, however, you're blown away by the amount of effort they've put into the decor. The booths are all solid wood, carved with colorful Mexican vignettes. There are giant paintings hanging on the wall, some of them traditional, some of them more modern or cartoonish, but you can tell, they all took a LOT of work. Some might find the colors everywhere to be loud, but it's representative of the aesthetic found in many authentic Mexican restaurants in the central Indiana (and if you don't think central Indiana has much to offer as far as authentic Mexican food is concerned, you are way wrong and looking in the wrong neighborhood!) Decor aside, this is hands down the best Mexican food on the south side. The servers are friendly, and fast. And their namesake drink is fantastic. We had the special, margarita on the rocks, on a Saturday afternoon. It was 4.99 and HUGE. It was also delicious. I ordered the vegetarian fajitas and they came with rice and beans and sour cream/guac/pico de gallo salad, which is standard for most Mexican restaurants. It came out sizzling on a skillet, and everything was hot an delicious. I definitely ended up with leftovers, as the free chips (warm!) and salsa filled me up before my large serving was delivered. My boyfriend ordered the pollo adobo, which he said was fantastic. It also came with rice and beans. He forgot to request tortillas de maize, and got flour instead, but he asked after our order came and they replaced them. Our server was great! We're so pleased with Margarita, and I hope it's around for a long time. For some reason, the best Mexican places around here don't seem to remain open for very long. Perhaps we have different tastes in Mexican food than the local crowd (we like it spicy and authentic, not all covered in cheese, like some of the other places around here and DEFINITELY NO TEXMEX, PLEASE!) But I really, really, love Margarita, please do give it a try!

After a long first day back at work after vacation, the 27oz strawberry daiquiri was just what I needed. The daiquiri was delicious and certainly didn't got to waste. As far as a Mexican restaurant, this is about the same as most of them, but as most of them are, authentic and delicious. It did take us quite a while to receive our food and cheese dip, but the taste made up for it. All three of us had a chicken fajita quesadilla, which was huge and great. After eating chips and cheese we all had half left, so if you tend to eat a lot of chips before dinner, split it with someone. Overall, good place!

Best Mexican food on the Southside! I've dined at a lot of the local Mexican restaurants and this one has us coming back time and time again. If you're on the Southside, go here. The food is consistently good, the staff is always very friendly and accommodating and the place is clean. I have yet to find a better chimichanga. Their table side guacamole is delicious as well. Chips and salsa are very good and taste fresh. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a good Mexican meal.

Margaritas has two southside locations. My family and I have been regulars for the past two years because we enjoy the food, friendly service and atmosphere so much. Daily lunch, dinner and drink specials. Can't be beat --- we have tried. margaritasindy.com

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
