Amazing wings!! The new patio is beautiful. This place is a good small bar. Good beer selection. Also if you haven't been to a St. Paddy's day party here, you have no idea what you are missing! The owner says there is a rib fest and a chili cook off to come this year as well. Great place to unwind!

Longacre's just alright with me, Longacre's just alright, oh yeah. Since this is a biker bar, I can't give it a rating less than "A-OK." Look, I've seen "Sons of Anarchy." I also know that the FBI just busted about 50 Outlaws right here in Indianapolis (thanks, Indystar!). I don't know if these characters read Yelp, but I'm going to play it safe and assume they do. A-OK. This used to be a frequent stop on the way to or from other (dive) bars on Madison Ave. The drinks were cheap and I have some decent stories to tell. A-OK. You hear that, bikers? The Longacre is definitely A-OK!

The Hubs scored us free pre-screening movie tickets -- which was great, but they were at a theater like way far away from our normal stomping grounds and I was starved. Crap. Pulled up the Yelp app to see where we could grab dinner before hand and found Longacre Bar and Grill. Score. Rolled up to the place with the red awnings and we entered to 80's music on the jukebox, locals all sitting around the bar, and Camo and Carhartts galore... yes. We followed suit and picked the corner of the bar to grab a bite, have a drink, people watch, and hang for a few. The bar kind of dominates this place, but there are a few lower side tables on either side of the massive bar as well. Longacre (we gathered) is known to be a biker bar of sorts (maybe in the summer?)... I don't know about all that, but man, I do know that it was SO clean and the food was SO good. Here were our high points: The menu was legit -- had a good variety of options. We opted for the boneless chicken wings (Teriyaki) to start. We soon learned that these nuggets of goodness are actually hand cut and made IN HOUSE... not all gross breading or deep fried processed chunks -- the real deal with hardly any (if any at all) breading to speak of. And juicy. SO good. I got the Hot Ham Sandwich with cole slaw and the super non-adventurous hubs got a hot dog and fries. My sandwich should have been called the "Hot Slabs of delicious Hammy Heaven" instead. This was no warmed up lunch meat sandie. It was HUGE, the ham was thick and juicy, and the bread was perfectly buttered and grilled. Topped with your choice of cheese -- this is what heaven tastes like. Get the pepper jack for a nice little kick. I took it as a personal challenge to conquer and finish this sandie...and sadly, I lost. Stuffed! The service was also really friendly -- all done by the lovely lady bartender. Sure, everyone turned to look at the new crazy folks when we entered, but never did we feel out of place. Everyone was very welcoming. Side gems: Rumor has it that there is an all you can eat Taco deal ($5) every Tuesday and that Hot Dogs are free on Thursday evenings (maybe just in the summer?). It also looks like Gene Deer plays a regular gig here once a week. They offer $11 domestic beer buckets every day, but a pub can of Guinness will run ya $6. Fully stocked bar, Jager and Fireball machines, but no draft beers that we could see. The patio was all wrapped in plastic during our January visit (it was 5 degrees out), but looks to be a great place to chill in warmer months. If we are on the south side of town again, we will totally hit up Longacre again. If only for another chance at that ham sandie...

We stopped in for a drink after taking care of some business on the South side, not my stomping ground. Walking in, I was confused by the size of the bar, but soon discovered it was a wrap around with a good amount of space inside. We ordered cocktails and perused the menu, discovering that they were famous for their wings, so I had to try them. Unfortunately, their fryer was broken and I was unable to. Maybe next time, if I get back down that way. Their patio area is pretty large and looks like it would be nice if the weather were more agreeable.

Eat a burger! Holy cow, I love burgers and if you do too, you need to try these. I am so impressed. The bar is very clean, and this menu is serious business. This bar is a hidden gem on the south side.
