This is a hidden gem in downtown Indy. It caters to the downtown work crowd so it's really only open for lunch on weekdays. However, don't think this is a hash slinger. Most of the food is sourced locally and they are quite proud of that (to the point that at the entrance there is a large chalkboard that shows which ingredients come from what local suppliers). The place is a little hard to find from the street. Just go through the glass doors and take the elevator to the 2nd floor. When you walk in through the entrance on the 2nd floor you can go to the right and have the full sit-down restaurant experience. Or you can go to the left, and walk through the cafeteria line. I chose the right which I don't regret because you get some nice views of the city from the panoramic window. The food was quite good and came out very fast. As expected, the food tasted very fresh as they use quality ingredients.

Sadly, the Labor District Cafe has closed. Such a bummer to see them close! I wonder what will be in that space on the second floor of the BMO building next...

This gem on the second floor of the BMO Harris Building wasn't even on my downtown lunch radar until today when a friend suggested it as a place for us to meet. I am glad she did! If you're looking for a place to get a huge, good lunch salad (I have leftovers) at a pretty decent price, look no further. I will say it is a TAD expensive but the ingredients were fresh, relatively unique and locally sourced. I ordered the chicken and beet salad, the onions and feta with it were amazing and it was exactly what I was wanting. Next time I might get the Cali Club if I'm wanting a sandwich. The space was cute. I suggest getting a table by a window and looking out into downtown. The mason jars and bottles of water on the tables, as well as the popcorn bowls were nice extra touches that made this place feel a little more upscale than a traditional downtown lunch spot. Labor District Cafe, I will be back.

First time I have ever been here, it was great. I got the Indy cheesesteak with fries. Cheesesteak was a good size and fries were a good proportion as well. Used to rant & rave about Penn Station's Philly Cheesesteak but think I may have found a new spot to satisfy my crave.

The wife and I recently ventured here for lunch during the week. I was able to find nearby street parking quickly, which is always a plus during the lunch rush. From there we headed inside the BMO building and up to the second floor, completely clueless as to what to expect. We were greeted with the smell of hot food and a friendly hello from the cashier (we opted for quick-service opposed to full service). She asked if we had been before and, since we hadn't, walked us through the menu before taking our order. My wife got the fried catfish and I got their breaded tenderloin sandwich (the special of the day). We were given a number and waited maybe ten minutes until they brought the food out to our table. The food came fresh out of the fryer and piping hot. Portions were good sized and the meal was satisfying. My tenderloin was huge and warranted getting a box for leftovers. My wife's plate of fish, fries, and coleslaw was also more than she was able to eat in one sitting. The quality of the food was also good. Her fish was breaded and fried nicely, juice and tender. Her Cajun coleslaw was good, but maybe a little spicy for her. My sandwich was moist and flavorful, which is a good thing because if you serve a bad breaded tenderloin in Indiana then you probably won't be around for long. I have but a few complaints. The prices are ok, but with drinks, tip, etc. our total for lunch was a little higher than we usually pay. It wasn't too expensive, especially given the quality and quantity of our food, but I do think it was more expensive than the average lunch. They were also very liberal with the salt. My tenderloin was good, but noticeably over seasoned. My wife's fries also seemed on the salty side. We really did enjoy visiting the Labor District Cafe and will try to go again for lunch in the coming weeks. I hope to see them do well, but the location is a little out of the way and street parking can be hard to find. There were only a few other people in the restaurant when we went at lunch time, which isn't a good sign. Hopefully they continue serving great food and business picks up!

I have yet to actually GO to Labor District Cafe, but I have had it catered at work a few times. I've had a couple of the sandwiches (turkey seemed a little dry), but I thought the chicken fingers were pretty tasty. Can't go wrong with a chewy chocolate chip cookie either. I do like the spicy cali club. I would definitely get that one again. I would also like to try some of their salads. With all the local ingredients (bonus points), I am willing to bet they are quite good. Stay tuned for that review. P.S. I haven't had their biscuits and gravy personally, but my co-workers RAVE about them.

One of downtown Indy's best kept secrets! You are able to dine cafeteria style or be seated or let one of their friendly wait staff serve you. The portions are massive and very reasonable. I must return for breakfast

This place had a rocky start. The prices were too high, and the quality of the food just didn't match. I ordered a chef salad on the first day they were open. It was over $10 with tax, and all there was on the salad was lettuce, some meat, a little cheese and dressing. It was lacking. Since then, over the course of a few weeks, they have improved quite a bit. Prices have come down to a reasonable level and the quality of the food has improved. It seems like they really care about the customer. The last place (Side Street Grill) that was in this location didn't budge on prices and ended up leaving due to lack of business. The staff is very friendly. The menu has a wide variety of courses to choose from, like meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy (the mashed potatoes are awesome!), chef salad, Cobb salad, a variety of sandwiches, and breakfast items (the omelets are very good). They have repainted the place, so it's a little more vibrant than when Side Street Grill was there. There is also a couple of wifi hot-spots in the area, so that's convenient too! It's a convenient place to eat, but with all of the competition around them I hope they continue to improve. I'm rooting for them!

The Biscuit & Gravy is the best I've experienced in Indy. Locally sourced ingredients is the focus of this new eatery. You won't see a sign but it couldn't be easier to access. Its in the BMO Bank building at the corner of Pennsylvania & Ohio. Garage access on Ohio or street parking, either way take the elevator to the second floor and prepare to be pleased with your choice.

I work around the corner from this place, it is a quality, reliable stop for lunch. I'd much rather spend $10 here on lunch than at a giant burrito place full of rice. Cali club is very good as are the biscuits and gravy. Yeah, it is pricier than others, but I've worked in a few high rises in this and other markets, the place won't survive serving cheap grub, the rent is likely steep.

This is a solid one star experience. Expensive, poorly prepared food, and horrible decor. I had the chicken strips as the "roasted Parmesan broccoli" did not sound good as a side to the meatloaf. My portion was "petite" the chicken was not properly breaded and you bit into the dry white stuff that was inside and the coating fell off. Dipping sauces, one would think would be an area where they could potentially shine. Why bother? Everything else is half an effort, why put any into an innovative sauce? My fries were room temperature, over salted and greasy. Food tip, Kosher salt is not for fries, use a sea salt. This was not a 9 dollar plate. Finally on to why I wont be back; the table next to me, in addition to the "poorly breaded protein product" had the aforementioned broccoli; it was literally black with a green stem and the gentleman showed me how much garlic there was and told me how it was inedible, probably because the garlic was burnt, and anyone who has watched at least one food network show knows, when garlic gets burnt it gets bitter. I dont know who owns this restaurant, but you should be totally embarrassed to serve this food. I am the cheapest person I know, and I have another groupon for you. I wont use it because the food was so bad. I dont think you will be in business long, and I will just get a refund from Groupon.

Ordered the chicken caesar salad, but instead of white meat, it came with greasy chunks of dark meat. It was the worst salad I have ever had. Nice service, however.

I'll definitely be back. I had the Turkey Manhattan w/ roasted cauliflower & a slice of Apple pie. Food came out within 5/10 minutes after ordering. Loved that they made me an Arnold Palmer & served seasoned popcorn at the table. My coworker & I really enjoyed our service, food, and the vibe.

Service awful... Food was forgettable which is sad because all ingredients are sourced locally.

The best thing this place has going for it is that all of the food is locally sourced. That being said, I thought the food was pretty average and not worth the prices. The location is difficult to get to as it's on the second floor of a corporate office building. It also feels like it's having an identity crisis as the entrance and the tables don't really accompany the "corporate" feel that I just couldn't shake. It's good for a quick business lunch meeting.

Love Love Love this place! They have the best soups in town! The cauliflower soup is incredible and so is the chicken pesto soup. The turkey manhattan is out of this world!

Much like the other reviews, the prices are a bit steep. But, I had a group meeting here and we enjoyed the atmosphere and food enough to make it a regular meeting place. I had the meatloaf (with mashed potatoes/gravy and sauteed veggies) and it was pretty good.
