We have been eating here for YEARS! Everything chicken is amazing. No other Mexican place has chicken is good as La Hacienda's.

This has become our go-to restaurant for Mexican food. I'd recommend the Texas margarita and tacos! Fajitas are tasty and usually we have leftovers

The Mexican chicken soup will blow your mind. Get it with a pitcher of margarita's for a good day/night. I RARELY order soup or salad at any restaurant, I don't go out to eat to eat soup or salad! lame! However, this is what I highly recommend you order at La Hacienda. My friend came down to Louisiana from Indiana recently, and he even brought some with him! I hope to stop and get some next weekend when I'm home in Indiana! Dont judge a book by it's cover - yes it is in a strip mall near 38th and Lafayette Rd. but don't write it off.

I absolutely love a place where I can go and get good chips and salsa, potent margaritas, clean your plate taco salads, and finish up the calorie-busting feast with a fried ice cream. After reading this list, it may seem like you can order this at any Ameri-Mexican restaurant in the Indy area, but tis not the case. I have been to La Hac many, many, many times, and can say that honestly I've never been disappointed. I've tried my share of different entrees and drinks, but the Fajita Taco Salad has 100% stolen my heart. I order it with no sour cream and extra guacamole and that suits me just fine. I'm reserving one star for the sometimes not-so-friendly service you can encounter here. But I suppose you're not really going to a divey Mexican restaurant in a strip mall to get treated like a queen. Nonetheless, La Hac is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Indy. Go. Order the Fajita Taco Salad. Finish up with a Fried Ice Cream. If you're disappointed, then I'm not sure what to say. PS) The telenovelas they play in the background are an added bonus.

Super cheap Mexican food but you can tell. You definitely get what you pay for. I wouldn't say that the food is bad, just not all that great either. I got a fajita quesadilla and I was not impressed by the quality of the meat.

This is a divey little Mexican place in a strip mall, but it is totally worth going. We live close by, and we end up here far more often than is good for our wallets or our waistlines. The food can be a little Americanized at times, but it's delicious, always prepared quickly, and is very affordable. With that combination, I don't know what's not to love. Another perk is that they have a vegetarian section on their menu. There's nothing terribly inventive in that section, but it's just a real plus for me that they actually HAVE a veggie section. It certainly made me a happy camper! If you have the time and inclination, it's fun to check out the very authentic Mexican market next door. A good portion of the market employees don't speak English, but that's never been an issue for us. In general, I just think this place is a great little find, and I can confidently recommend it to others who want tasty food at an affordable price.

Clean place , good tasty food, very friendly staff. One of the workers told me they are under new management and I can tell. My waitress was very nice. It may look small from the outside but don't judge it by that l.

Don't let the fact that this is in a bit of a seedy strip mall deter you from having some excellent Mexican food! The food is hot, fresh, and delicious, the waitstaff is kind and helpful. There have lots of seating and ware more than willing to put some tables together if you want to have dinner with a dozen of your closest friends. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT, go to one of the north side locations. they are no where near as good. I lived near Carmel and still drove to 38th and Lafayette to go to this La Hacienda, the perfect food will be well worth the drive.

I'm a Cali native born and raised 20 min from the TJ border and sometimes, I just NEED real good Mexican food. Found it! La Hacienda doesn't look like much from the outside, but the best kitchens rarely do. Upgrade the street taco to carne asada, you'll be glad you did! Also, $10 margarita pitchers! Super sweet staff, speedy service for lunch, and inexpensive for the quality.

A perfectly satisfactory establishment. Good food, mediocre chips and salsa (which, lets face it, is pretty important.) The waiter rushed us, and seemed to resent us wanting to sit and talk after we finished eating. Once again, though, the food was good, but the experience was wanting.

This place would be a lot better off never having met the men of a particular fraternity in Indianapolis. Mostly because the guys have a tendency to come in large groups with tons of friends drink too many 64 oz. Texas Margaritas and proceed to help themselves to any poster or banner they can get their hands on. Funny story, one time we had a "Bar Bash" at this place, when trying to get the beer situation figured out, the people (in their minimal English) asked how many cakes we wanted, and what we wanted them to say...Well out party planner at the time misunderstood and thought they said "kegs" rather than "cakes." Knowing we wanted two kegs he told them as such, and baffled by the question as to what we wanted them to say he simply said..."I don't know...(Name of Fraternity)?" When we arrived we had no beer but a couple great cakes that had out name on them, which we enjoyed until the beer situation was solved. Oh La Hac. The place is darn good, and cheap too. I was one of my first experiences with the small family owned Mexican restaurant and it made me a huge fan. They have the best margaritas in town which you can get in any size up to the fish bowl-esque 64oz. and if you get that "texas" style it will be nearly a whole fifth of tequila which is sure to keep you buzzing well in to the Saturday night shenanigans you will no doubt get into if you drink that much margarita.

If you want Mexican food, this is a great choice. The salsa and chips are always good. The carnitas and the chicken fajitas are my favorites. The servings are a good size servings.

Always a good sign when the staff of a Mexican restaurant can speak Spanish! Not great, but it is Mexican food

I would say so-so at best. I sat down and ordered coffee. It's on the menu, but they don't serve it. I looked at the options and ordered sweet tea. It's on the menu, but they don't serve it. I settled for (a very weak) unsweetened tea. The online menu is way out of date. I ordered the Nachos Supreme. The menu doesn't show the option of beef or chicken and does not tell you that it's figured into the price. Not quite what I expected. The nachos were good, but I thought that the tomato would be chunks rather than 1/2 slice in the center. I'm not real big on heat, but a few jalapenos would have been nice. The meal was pleasantly messy (nachos are NOT for neat people) and I was full before I finished them. The only time I saw my server after receiving the food was when he came back and dropped the check. The food was okay. The service tolerable. Don't think I'll go back for a long while.

People LOVE the chicken soup on yelp. I thought it was fine, pretty good for a soup. It's got fresh avocado in it which is nice. I wouldn't have exceedingly high expectations for it going in, which is what I think I did and set myself up for disappointment. At the end of the day, it can only be chicken soup. It's not like it's from a Michelin starred restaurant or anything. Anyway, I think this and maybe the alcohol would be the reasons to come here. Don't get the guac. It's expensive for a tiny little saucer of something that you probably could have gotten frozen from costco. I ordered the deep fried chicken burritos dinner/entree. It was mediocre. My experience was that the wait staff was inattentive. There were like 4 tables and the waiter is watching telenovelas. Free chips and salsa... yay?

After leaving El Puerto de San Blas down the street and their overpriced menu, we came where we know the food, service and is reasonably priced. Gabriel, our server, was excellent. Allowing time to chat, devour chips and salsa as I lingered over the menu and we never wanted for anything. The salsa here is good but not quite the same as the Avon location. Close BUT enough to say "different but good". After ordering our dinner and an order to go, our dinners arrived in less than 10 minutes. Our salads in less than 5. My husband always orders the Steak ala Mexicana and said this order was the hottest he'd had in a long time (loved). I've never seen sweat on his face or tears in his eyes while devouring his dinner (as he was smiling). The flavor was terrific and the heat didn't overpower the flavor of the meat. After tasting his steak I now wished I had ordered my normal Chicken ala Mexicana. I however switched back to an old regular of grilled chicken with guacamole salad and rice. Good? Yes. Get again, sometime in the future. However, I'll switch back to Chicken ala Mexicana knowing how the onions, green peppers and jalapeños flavor the meat and I always enjoy. Plus I usually take half home so I have lunch the next day or my son has a late night snack. Everyone wins. Affordable, good food, large portions, and good service will continue bringing us back to La Hacienda.

This is an average to small sized restaurant in a strip mall. But the food is top notch. You must try the Mexican chicken soup. It always tastes amazing. Tons of flavor and extremely fresh. Hints of cilantro are perfectly balanced against the broth. It's a big bowl, so bring an appetite. The staff are very attentive and very friendly.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
