Yum! Ranchero and spinach r my favs! Picked them up to take to my staff for breakfast, service is great, they r friendly and i love when u buy multiple ones they draw on the box the name of each one bc when u get home u will have no idea which one is which. I go there at least once a month. Delicious soft dough filled with surprises for your mouth! Yummy in my tummy!

I thought I would give this location another shot this morning and unfortunately I was not impressed. The service was much more friendly than last time. The food was ok they heated it up in the microwave for too long which resulted in an extremely hot item that I had to wait to eat. The major problem I had with the location was its disrepair and dirtiness. The soda machine was Out of Order again! And the place just was very dirty, reminded me of a gas station. Anyway I have to really take this location off my list and could NEVER recommend anyone visit it. The GOOD news is the location on 116th street is night and day difference and I HIGHLY recommend that one, I almost just drove there today but wanted to check this one once more.

So I love Kolaches, but I've only ever been to the one on 116th. Found out today there's good reason for that. As soon as I walked in, I almost walked out. The place just isn't very clean, but I pressed on. I ordered an egg, sausage and cheese along with a fruit filled one. The guy at the desk, who had disgustingly long finger nails, asked me if I wanted them warmed up. Since I had planned on eating there I said yes please. He threw both of my kolaches in the bag and into the microwave they went. After the short time being in there, I decided that I couldn't really stand to eat inside so I left with my food. When I went to my car to eat them though, I realized he had thrown the strawberry one on it's side and in the heating process all the goodies had oozed out. Smooth move. Nonetheless, I give the kolaches themselves a B, but the place/experience a F.

Man, we wish a Kolache Factory would open in South Bend! Whenever we are in Indy, we try to stop here for a breakfast treat. My hubby is a HUGE fan of the Sausage and Gravy and the Ranchero. I love the Pepperoni and Mushroom and the fruit Kolaches. It is a quick service restaurant and the service isn't great but those warm Kolache rolls make up for it!

Imagine the softest, fluffiest dinner roll you've ever eaten-now stuff it with ham and cheese (my personal favorite) that my friend is a Kolache. Although they have many, many selections from huevos rancheros to apple I tend to stick with the ham and cheese and the club. Both excellent choices IMHO. The Kolache Factory is my go-to place if I need breakfast or snacks for a crowd or if I'm in a hurry for lunch. They're compact and super easy to eat while you're in the car or to hand out after soccer practice. No mess. The Kolaches themselves are really, really good. That being said, getting them is...an experience. It's possible that perhaps it's just the time of day that I go there, but it's always messy between 1-2 PM. I find it hard to understand the staff because of the language barrier. Also, if you want to make sure that you get the Kolache you're craving you'll want to go pretty early because once they are out for the day, they're out period. I can't count how many times I haven went there and they are out of both the ham n cheese and the club. When I am able to get my favorites I always buy extra. They reheat really well. Overall the good outweighs the bad by far.

Kolache Factory is so good, I drive 30+ minutes just to eat here. The cashiers are always friendly and are more than willing check in the back for me when they have run out of something. That's the only reason I gave 4 stars, is because they do start to run out about an hour or so before closing. Otherwise, a delightful, delicious, and even easy to eat while you drive treat.

Middle aged customer in baseball cap, dirty shoes, and Colts jacket seemed odd from the moment he walked in, could have just been a working stiff-- He didnt get inline, he merely walked straight to the kitchen's double doors and stood beside the swing door divide I finally understood that he must have called in his order. He received his bag of kolache booty- headed directly out the door. Right away the staff informed one another he hadn't paid . obviously there was confusion, yet something had to be tended to post haste! Catch him! the food cook from the back, didnt seem to fully understand the broken English l was too was trying to decipher. from the very same counterperson Meanwhile the customer was retrieved by staff just outside in the parking lot, brought back into the kitchen. Immediately l asked at the counter, "You let him in the kitchen area??? Where my food's being prepared!!!? staff spoke amongst themselves in Spanish, "limpio no" Again l protested; "hes not clean and youve got him in the kitchen area from outside!" Of course they didn't speak English. How foolish of me :-) nAll l could do for myself and you, was to take a photo as proof. The recipes, the cook or maybe both have changed. The kolaches were dry.

I had a coupon for buy one sweet and get one for equal or less price. So I bought two cinnamon rolls. They were OK. Lots of cinnamon. Maybe they would have been better hot or with the cinnamon spread on when hot so it melted.

I had never tried a kolache before trying the kolache factory. Now it's my favorite thing to have for breakfast! So good and unique! They are also pretty reasonably priced. I would recommend the ham and cheese, Ranchero, and sausage and gravy.

These are so good! Plenty of variety. Savory foods (meat, cheeses, and peppers) inside of a roll. Great breakfast idea!

I can't believe that I am the Duke of the Kolache Factory with just a few check ins! If you don't know what a Kolache is: It is a ball of bread (Think O'Charleys dinner rolls) with a variety of things baked in them from Ham and Cheese (my favorite), meatballs, bacon & eggs, sausage gravy, philly cheese steak, spinach & cheese, bar-b-que, ect. They also have a several dessert and sweet Kolaches. They close at 3 p.m. though so get there early while they still have a great selection. Head to 96th and Allisonville and get some for the office, trust me they will appreciate it!

There is nothing quite like The Kolache Factory in Indy. The Eastern European style stuffed rolls are a great way to start the day. They can be a bit pricey for a morning meal, so a stop isn't an everyday thing. But any morning kicked off with a Kolache is for sure on the path to success. I recommend sticking with the classics--anything with eggs. They are a bit more expensive but they pack a major punch of protein which will leave you feeling satisfied until mid afternoon.

When my wife and I first moved to Fishers, we would often drive by the Kolache Factory. For the longest time, I wondered what a "kolache" was. I even went so far as to look it up: Kolache (as defined by wikipedia): from the Czech and Slovak, are a type of pastry consisting of fillings ranging from fruits to cheeses inside a bread roll. A whole place dedicated to making kolaches? I figured it was something new, so why the heck not. I liken this place to an Eastern European Dunkin Donuts. They have kolaches filled with all kinds of different stuff. They have sweet ones (blueberry, pineapple, raspberry) and savory ones (philly cheese steak, pizza, club sandwich, italian chicken). Wanting to get a fair sample, we got one of each of the aforementioned (is that the correct use of the word?) kolaches. The sweet ones were about $1 a piece, while the savory ones were about $1.50-$2 a pop. The sweet ones were like a less sweet danish, and the fruit used was reminiscent of what they fill hostess pies with. The savory ones were nothing to write home about either. These things are not very big, and I can't imagine anyone getting full off of just one. OVERALL- Tried something new, and didn't care for it too much. I'm not sure if these are the most authentic kolaches having never tried them before, but I don't see myself coming back here. Movie Star Rating- Paul Reubens

Heard a lot about this place and decided to swing by for a quick cheap lunch. I tried two of the "savory" variety of kolache and they were delicious. I had the hot polish sausage, which is an entire sausage wrapped up in their pastry and the rancheros, which is sausage, egg, cheese and jalapeno. They were both very good and had a nice kick to them. The place really does have a dunkin donuts feel to it in the you walk up to the counter, pick out what you want from the wall and head on your merry way. The food was very affordable and quite filling. I look forward to trying other varieties.

If you've never had a kolache, what have you been doing all your life? These are great for breakfast or brunch. It's best to order and take out instead of eating in. The place isn't 5-star or anything in regards to cleanliness or organization, but man do they know how to make baked pastries! A kolache is a warm, fresh-baked pastry that is filled with sausage, cheese, or fruity options. I always order an egg & cheese kolache. Hits the spot. My husband enjoys the Ranchero kolache which has eggs & jalapeno inside. They have a wall of options, so take your time choosing. The lines move quickly, but be sure to go early enough before they run out of everything, which is a common occurrence since they are so popular. They close at 2pm each day, so plan accordingly. They do have coffee, water, and soda options, but I usually go in and buy a half dozen for the fam and leave. They will heat them up if you'd like so you can eat them on the go. Go on a Saturday for a no-hassle breakfast :)

The star is lost because their hours can be irregular and seem to constantly change, and the counter staff is mostly indifferent. The food is fantastic though! There is really something for everyone here, UNLESS you're a G-free eater. Everything is wrapped in delicious, soft, barely sweet dough. There are dessert kolaches which are similar to a Danish, with the filling poking out of the top (fruit, cheese, nuts, etc.), and there are also savory kolaches with fillings like ham, egg, and cheese; chicken, bacon, and ranch; jalapenos, sausage, and egg; philly steak, onion, and cheese; sausage gravy; spinach; Polish sausage; and many more. Essentially, you're looking at a large round dinner roll...until you bite into it and there are wonderful surprises inside! You order at the counter, they give you your food, and you go sit at a table and munch. These are also great for take-out for a breakfast or lunch at home or work.

Got a sausage jalapeño and cheese kolache, the 'sausage' is a hot dog laid in the middle of the kolache, also not enough cheese In my opinion. Also I ordered BBQ beef, when they went to retrieve my order they discovered they didn't have any, I ordered something else and no 'sorry' no discount or selling me my change order at the slightly lesser cost of my original order. The food is decent, but not great, lots of good restaurants around, I will not return of my own volition.

Indeed, this is something like an Eastern European Dunkin' Donuts, as Ruben so cleverly noted. I don't have a problem with that. The atmosphere is franchise-y feeling and functional, but if you want something a little different for breakfast, kolaches are portable, filling and come in many varieties of sweet and savory. I tried the potato, egg and cheese and the spinach, as well as the blueberry and peach for dessert. How authentic are these kolaches? Probably not terribly. But they were pretty good! If I'm in the area and in need of snackage, I'd definitely stop by again.

Kolaches are the best Saturday morning food! Kolaches (savory) look like dinner rolls but are stuffed with scrambled eggs, meat, cheese, etc. The flavors range from standard egg and cheese to flavors like meatball and chicken enchilada. Be warned that the spicy kolaches are actually spicy - they have a LOT of chopped-up jalapenos in them. I cut my kolache in half and pick out the peppers, and then they are more to my spice tolerance level. I'm not much of a sweet tooth, so I don't really have an opinion on the sweet and fruit flavored kolaches (which are flatter and have the toppings on the top). The cinnamon rolls are pretty massive. Keep an eye out in the mail or the newspaper for coupons that are buy 3 get 3 free. It makes these a really great deal!

Kolache's are on of those things...you don't want it all the time (or maybe you do)but when you do get it, it really hits the spot. The Ranchero Kolache is one of my favorites. They DO NOT reheat well so buy accordingly.

I went for the first time the other day. I took my grandmother (who is czeq) and when she had a Kolache she said it was like she was back home in the "Old country". I enjoyed the food too, if it's your first time, be warned, you can go overboard. Take it from a Czeq. This is the best place to get a Kolache in Indianapolis.

I do not like chains, but when the only place you can get something you really like is at a chain what can you do? The Kolache Factory falls into that gray area a chain but food I like. I lived in Texas for 13 years and loved getting Kolache for breakfast on Sat. or Sun. mornings. When I lived in Detroit it was bagels and cream cheese, there is something about fresh baked items for breakfast, hot coffee and the weekend paper! Kolache can be found all over the place in Texas, most often at donut shop's, another great food for the morning. Do to the fact that a large grope of Eastern Europe settled in the hill country of Texas and started make Kolache part of the food of Texas like smoked meats. So try a Kolache and see what you think! They are not bad in fact there are pretty good! Remember to eat well and live well! And please no chains, if you can get it some where else!

When I wake up in the morning and all I want is a dough ball full of deliciousness I pack up the troops (me) and head all the way to the Kolache Factory. It's a long haul for me living downtown, but totally worth it. I've never tried the sweet kolaches b/c I am hooked, I tell ya, on the savory. The Ranchero is their most popular, I was told on my last visit. The folks who work there are just people doing a job, nothing mind blowing, although I'm not a chatty cathy. It's like Dunkin Donuts, go in get your box of kolaches and go back home. They have tables if you just can't wait until you're home or at least in your car. It's probably for the best that this place is so far from me. I could become a permanent fixture.

One of my coworkers brought in some bacon Kolaches and they were amazing! I have never been to the Kolache Factory personally, but I am definitely going to be going there! These things are out of this world, and the menu is full of sweet and savory selections. Can't wait to try some new ones!

I really WANT to give Kolache Factory more stars because I'm kind of obsessed with a few of their flavors, but unfortunately their kolaches can be pretty hit or miss. I've been driving past this place regularly for the better part of two years, and finally stopped in for the first time on the Fourth of July. At around 11:00 am on a holiday, they had a solid line to the door. Good sign. The line moved rather quickly, and I scanned the wall of pastries to make my selection. On round one, I ordered Pepperoni & Mushroom ("Pizza") and Cream Cheese. My boyfriend ordered Sausage, Jalepeno & Cheese and the Club. I have to give myself a pat on the back because we both agreed that the Pizza kolaches were delicious, and we were both instantly hooked on the flavor. I also really enjoyed the Cream Cheese, which is basically a slightly more savory cheese danish. The Club, however, was lackluster. And as some have mentioned, any of the options with "sausage" in them are basically a half a hot dog inside of a bun. So it becomes a game of chance, as we re-entered the line before leaving to take a few kolaches with us to go. On round two, we added Philly Cheesesteak and Meatball to the mix. The Philly Cheesesteak was pretty decent, boasting an even and tasty mixture of sliced steak, gooey cheese, onions and peppers. The Meatball on the other hand, was three solid, probably Gordon Food Services quality, meatballs with a tiny bit of sauce inside. Both of us thought that the Meatball as well as the Sausage kolaches would highly benefit from being made with ground or shredded meat (more like a meaty marinara sauce or ground breakfast sausage, respectively). Touching on service and overall appeal: the line moved pretty steadily and the staff were attentive. The soda fountain had some straw wrappers and plastic lids strewn about, nothing any other busy "to go" business wouldn't be dealing with. The bathroom was pretty clean. Kolache Factory will continue to receive my business for lack of a better option in the area, and because I truly do enjoy SOME of what they have to offer!

BUNS! Note: Prior to knowing about TKF, I have had several tasty bun experiences at the Taipan Bakery in Manhattan and thought that stuffed buns could only be limited to Asian ingredients... A few months ago I learned about The Kolache Factory and realized 'Oh! Anything can be stuffed into buns! Hooray!' There are so many choices! (Seriously, check the website.) Kolaches are a perfect combo of a soft, sweet bun and savory filling ingredients. So far I have only tried two varieties of breakfast kolaches (spicy Ranchero and classic Bacon + Egg.) Plus, I've had a fruit kolache (I opted for my favorite, Lemon.) ((The fruit kolaches look more like traditional danishes, but square.)) (((And, when I say fruit, it's not real fruit, it's that sweetened fruit goo.))) Oh, and everything is warmed up to order ensuring a perfect bite every time. Mmm...

Total Lack of Customer Service My daughter and I entered the store at about 1 PM today. I was thrilled to finally be in the neighborhood during the hours they are open and was looking forward to taking a dozen or so home. There was no one in the store or in line so we walked directly to the counter. Only to be informed by the clerk that we woud have to walk all the way around and enter the line correctly as it is her pet peeve. I was stunned and so was my daughter, we turned around and walked out. As we approached the door the rude clerk said "Have a nice day!" I responded that she had lost a sale because she was an idiot. I will not return, and it is no wonder the place was completely empty and the trays were full of uneaten Kolaches, even with an excellent product you do need to provide at least courteous customer service.

I haven't had kolaches in years, and Kolache Factory isn't half bad. It's a very portable meal on the go. They have breakfast type kolaches with fruit and sugar and icing and other sweet goodness crammed inside that silly little bun. I tried the chocolate raspberry (flavor of the month) and was kinda unimpressed. It was like a soggy, raspberry filled doughnut. If I wanted that, I'd go to Ricker's and save some cash. Then I tried an apple strudel a week later, and I enjoyed it a lot better. Then they have meat kolaches. Meat! The BBQ pulled pork was really good, and much easy to eat while driving distracted than a BBQ sandwich is. I liked it a lot better than the sweet kolaches. But then again, I would probably eat a Fukushima-fried squirrel if it had BBQ sauce on it. Both times I went on a Sunday around 1, and the selection was very slim. Probably because they close at two, which is also no good. I tried to eat here three times before I came on a time they were actually open. The service is no bueno, but the food is. So if you're sick of Dunkin Doughnuts, this is a really good alternative. There's something for everyone on the menu.

When I try something new, I like to learn about it afterward. This learning experience has its ups and downs. Firstly, I had a feeling that I might be jumping into some of my Polish roots. Kolache is actually Czech & Slovak, and it's very similar to the Polish Kolacz (really, a kolache is also spelled without the e or even as kolac. It's all a mater of transliteration). Kolacs look just a little different, though. And while it's possible, I've never had kolacz with some of the things that the Kolache Factory stuffs in their little kolaches. I've only had a couple Kolacs (usually around Christmas- the same time my family would always get Christmas Kringles- Not to be confused with Kris Kringles). Man, they had all kinds of kolaches! Fruit, egg, egg and cheese, egg cheese and potato, philly cheese steak, poppy seed, gravy, turkey, etc. I stuck with the egg, cheese and potato because I figure at least the potato probably has some vitamin C and potassium- A couple things I like to include in breakfast. When I later plugged it into MyFitnessPal (for the sake of tracking my nutrition), I found that this particular kolache (and many others after looking them up) contained nearly two thirds of the amount of cholesterol that you should have each day. Whew! And that's just breakfast. It did pack a lot of protein, though! I thought it kinda strange that the Kolache Factory employee put my kolache in a bag, asked if I wanted it warmed, and she stuck the whole paper sack in the microwave. I guess it's no different than a paper wrapper. But ok! It was yummy. I was able to eat it in the car, on the way to work, mess-free since the egg, cheese and potato was wrapped up in a warm, soft, sweet kolache roll. I had my egg, cheese and potato kolache and a medium coffee, and my total was less that $5. While I'm sure these aren't all *that* close to authentic kolaches, it's the only place I know of like this, so it's very unique to me. I'm really glad I stopped in this morning and discovered this little gem. I'm giving it 5 stars just for being unique.

I've been wanting to try the Kolache Factory for several years now, but just never happened to be close to 96th & Allisonville when I was hungry. Luckily, I found myself in that situation a few days ago, around breakfast time. Kolaches are originally from Eastern Europe and are little rolls, with a delicious sweet, yeasty taste, stuffed with goodies - fruits, cheeses, meats, etc. I figured I should probably try a couple of them to get a good idea of what they have to offer. So, I went for a sausage, egg & cheese (wanted it with bacon but they were sold out) and a flavor of the month - pecan pie. Mmm... the best part about both of them was the pastry. It is so delicious. The fillings were tasty too, but next time I will probably try something else because they have a pretty wide variety of flavors available - like spinach, ranchero, philly cheesesteak, meatballs and cream cheese. They are all on display along the wall, kind of like how Panera displays their bagels, etc. And then they heat them up for you. Plus, the service is fast & friendly. If you are looking for something a little different for breakfast or lunch, and aren't afraid of a few carbs, give the Kolache Factory a try!
