The best thing that I can say is their ginger sauce is interesting. When you walk in your first impression is that the place looks dirty. The staff was inattentive and the chef was unremarkable. He did not perform in any manner that you would expect from a traditional Japanese steakhouse chef. Basically he acted like he was in the kitchen. There are too many other Japanese steakhouses in our city and I will never return to Ginza.

Pretty typical Japanese steak house. Good sushi roll; steak and shrimp prepared nicely.

**"NOT GLUTEN FREE FRIENDLY*** Even after telling the sushi chef what I could and couldn't have (because soy sauce is in most dishes, and most soy sauce is made with wheat), they were still confused and not at all accommodating. The one American working was a waitress named Ellie. She was extremely rude, unhelpful, rude to her fellow staff, and was cussing up a storm when she thought no one was paying attention. The food wasn't great, and the fish not fresh. This place was fracking **awful**.

If you can give this restaurant any stars at all, it's possible you don't know what good qualities to look for in a Japanese restaurant besides the food. I call this place the one hit wonder now due to the ill mannered sushi chef with glasses and poor service overall. One hit wonder as in first time dining people at this restaurant because that will be it after that,at least until the the next wave not knowing people come thru to eat there. I wish the new owners had pride in their restaurant like the previous owners. I did find an awesome hibachi/sushi place for my son and I and the people are nice, food very good. If you're ever on the south side of Indianapolis, do try it.it's right off I465 and Emerson exit.( and others all over the city) I really like the one out in Plainfield and Broad Ripple. : )

About 7-8 years ago, Ginza was our favorite sushi in Indy ... but until our takeout order on Christmas Eve, we hadn't visited in several years. Could be that our tastes have changed or their sushi has slipped in quality, I don't know, but Ginza sushi is just average at this point. Everything was a half step up from good grocery store sushi - I don't *necessarily* mean that in a negative way as it's definitely workable in a pinch. Caterpillar, Inside Out Philly, and Rainbow rolls were all between 3 and 3.5 stars. The smoked salmon nigiri was not top quality fish and a bit chewy, 2.5 stars. The shrimp shumai (off appetizer menu) were a little dried out but were a slightly above average version, 3.5 stars. Simply put, there are better options. On the west side, I'd much rather hit Ocean World on W 86th, Hirosaki in Avon, or Tegry Bistro in Brownsburg. Sorry Ginza, I think it's time for us to disappear for another few years ...

Seriously love-hate, every...other..year thing with Ginza. It's been a year since we last visited Ginza.. we were hungry, craving sushi and didn't want to deal with Friday night crowd in B.rip so we decided to give it a go. Service still needs a lot of work. It took for-freakin-ever for our food to come out AND two other couples that came in after us got their food first which kind of irked me. I was ready to get up and walk out... Thank you hungry tummy for not letting me leave, because OH MY, was my sushi rolls were so good. My $6 crazy roll looked like a $13 roll and tasted even better. The Ginza roll, even better than when the old management was here. I'm so kicking myself for not taking pictures, but there's always next time. And yes, there will be a next time...

I Love Ginza!! I wish they would open up a restaurant on the northside in Westfield. I think I've tried everything on the menu, Yaki Soba, Scallops, Steak, Chicken Sushi. I'm seriously addicted to the ginger sauce that comes with the hibachi. I'll even dip my suchi in it. It has that perfect salty sweet combination. Service can be spotty sometimes, and it is a bit of a dive, but I'll take it any day over the chains.

I grew up on the Westside and anything here has a special place in my heart. I really want to love Ginza, but it has just really gone downhill. The food quality, the service, the hibachi "show" has all degraded. Sushi is alright but the hibachi grill entrees are all dry and the chefs are very dull which is awful when you take guests there for a special night out. Food: 2/5 Location: 2/5 Service: 2/5

Been there many times. Definitely one of my top 3 Japanese steak houses. The food is delicious, hibachi is awesome, and the pricing is surprisingly good. Only reason it lost 1 star is because sometimes the people that visit there are....let's say have no class. Not a fault of the restaurant, and they deal with it very well. Come check it out.

Food is average and the entertainment I will qualified as below average. The show is kind a dull

The food was just ok, I was not thrilled. I would not go back I would try other places in the area for sushi and hibachi.

This is the only place in town that I've found that has oshinko rolls. I am a huge daikon enthusiast, so I went for it. I am pregnant (but not really showing) and my husband is a perma-hungry skinny dude garbage disposal so we ordered what was admittedly an excessive amount of sushi, partially with intent. Roll size varies oddly from place to place, though, and I underestimated the size of their rolls. So she hands me these three styrofoam takeout boxes (2 full and one half full of sushi) staring at them with wide eyes and asks me how many chopsticks I want. When I say two pairs, a really incredulous non-English dialogue follows. Come on now, that's not necessary.

The hibachi chef was very entertaining and attentive to my kids. The filet was cooked very well and the fried rice was good too. The California role was delicious and they give you soup and salad with your meal. I like the half sushi role add on for half price option. The servers were very attentive and also aware of what small children need which I appreciated very much. The price was good (better than Hirosaki). I do wish they'd reconsider their lobby decorations...Christmas lights and clutter made it seem like a dive and makes you question how clean and organized they are in the kitchen. Overall a great meal.

Decided to have lunch here with a friend because it was close to work. We each and different soups (the onion and miso) and I had a salad with ginger dressing (this was ick!) The two of us shared a Dragon roll, Dynamite roll, and a Spicy Tuna roll. The sushi was pretty decent, but the first impressions weren't the greatest as the area our seats by the sushi bar were sticky and the service overall was pretty slow. It took us over an hour to receive and eat our lunch, and it wasn't even easy.

We love going here.. albeit its a small place. There is one guy who is hilarious that does cook, cleans, fixes things ... Pee Wee is his name.. he has you laughin from the min u sit down.. he is very interactive...Food is pretty good. Rest of the service depending on who is cookin is ok... Pee Wee makes the place fun.. The other chefs are somewhat boring.

We have always loved this place. They people are very friendly here. The vegetable tempura is a nice size portion and very good. The california rolls are also good. We also enjoy getting chicken and beef teriyaki hibachi. Great dinner date and a nice place to go with a group of friends.

I've been going to Ginza for over 10 years now and I don't think I have ever had a bad experience. Generally I love the food and think it's very flavorful, much more so than any of the chain hibachi grills I have tried. I don't even need the extra sauce they give me because just the right amount of flavor is cooked into the food. I also like that it's not a chain because it gives it a more pleasant feel. Some of the others are part of giant corporations and it shows. If you want good hibachi and you are visiting Indianapolis, considering giving Ginza a shot.

Ginza is definitely not one of the better Japanese steakhouses that I have visited in Indy. We absolutely LOVE hibachi and were totally let down by this place. Let me tell you why: Atmosphere: Boring and old. Menu: Very basic Japanese steakhouse. I think they could do a better job of explaining what cut of meat is included in your meal. "Steak and shrimp" just doesn't cut it for me. "Sirloin and shrimp" would work out much better, however, this was the exception. Others were specified such as "filet". Attention to detail is essential in my food. Sushi is also available, however we didn't order any. Service: The chef was okay. He wasn't very excited about his job and he certainly didn't go out of his way to perform any of the traditional tricks that I'm accustomed to. He did manage to cook my steak at the correct temperature, so bonus on that. The waitress was again, okay. We had ordered some (2) spring rolls, which generally are filled with veggies only, but these were filled with a meat product, which was a real downer for my vegetarian girlfriend. When we asked to have them removed from our bill, she had quite the attitude and was reluctant to do so, but removed them from the bill. Food: Was not impressive, at all. The salad dressing tastes much like a thinner version of thousand island. GROSS. Also, they use WAY too much of it. The miso was good. The main dish was bland and basically just left me wanting something more, especially the fried rice. Cleanliness: I'll give it a 3 out of 5. Price: Not worth it. Over-priced for "meh" food and service. I can make this food at home for less and make it taste much better. We for sure won't be going back to Ginza. We were seated immediately on a Saturday night at 8pm and I would say there is a reason for that. Crappy food and service doesn't draw a crowd.

I love HIBACHI! I love the fact that my food taste like just regular pieces of food fried in butter over a grill without barely any seasoning, but just the charcoal taste of butter flavoring ...*sarcasm*. NOT! I'm not really impressed by entertainment and bland tasting food, (that you can cook at home yourself), NOW if they combine the entertainment and good food, I'll be impressed. Unfortunately, that can't be. You see, what your paying for at this restaurant is $20 for an entree and seated with various strangers, (unless you come in a big group), and you see an azn man whose impressing you by making a volcano out of cut up onions. On top of that, he rushes through the hassle of doing minor tricks of tossing food in the air with his spatula and showing you how fast he can cook your food with just a simple tossing with butter and little bit of grind of salt-n-pepper to your dish.. VOILA! Twenty bucks down the drain for some grilled, greasy, and buttered flavored dish..... but wait, you get to see him made a volcano out of onion, at least, right? So tell me, is that worth the squeeze from your pocket? LOlz. Not for me though, I'm not into entertainment only, I'm into GOOD FOOD, dammit!!!!

On a mini vacation with my boyfriend we came here for dinner one night with friends, as it is one of their favorite restaurants. My only con of this review is that the place was empty and the server sat us at the only table where the light was burned out so we couldn't see a thing. Aside from that the food was pretty tasty, although nothing crazy that other hibachi places don't offer. The ginger dressing was some of the best I've ever had. I'd definitely make another trip when I'm back in the area, I'd just be sure the lights were working first.

This is my favorite hibachi. Ever. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the sushi. Don't bother with it. After you have the hibachi, it won't matter anyway. From start to finish, I love everything about a meal here! A little over a decade ago, I was introduced to this place. Love at first lunch combo. I've tried them all since and have settled into the chicken & shrimp hibachi combo as my favorite. On the dinner menu, this is called the Formula One. It's about $8 cheaper on the lunch menu and the only difference is the shrimp appetizer that comes with dinner. Lunch is usually my preference because I'm an early-to-bed/early-to-rise kinda girl and it's quite a hike for me to get here. The distance doesn't deter, though. The combos start with an onion soup and salad. The onion soup is pretty standard, but no less delicious for it. The salad is my favorite which is why I'll often ask for a second salad in place of the soup. The dressing isn't the standard ginger dressing you find at most sushi places. It's smooth and has an almost french dressing-esque quality to it. Whatever it is, it's yummy. The rice/vegetables comes next and just a ton of buttery goodness. As opposed to some of the other hibachis I've tried, this one adds butter to the rice rather than oil. So. Delicious. I like to add a bit of the ginger sauce into the rice. The ginger sauce. There aren't even words to describe how incredible this sauce is. Don't miss it. It might be easy to get lost in the heaven that is every bite of the rice, vegetables, and/or whatever protein you've ordered. Just know the sauce really does add to the amazing flavor circus. I'm sure there is a dessert menu of sorts, but I've never had an opportunity to enjoy a look at it. At the end of lunch, I'll be walking out with a fairly full container of leftovers, looking forward to a food coma and a dinner of ginza goodness.

This place has 5 or six hibachi tables in a row and as people come in they fill them up and crank out the food. Relatively cheap, and you can add on a 1/2 california roll for a couple dollars more. There isn't really any show at this place. The guy kinda grinds the food out and whenever something is done cookiung you get it. So you will wind up with different parts of your meal at different times.
