Fantastic burger joint! I think this is the best burger I've ever had. I took my dad last night to Five Guys for his first trip. Literally everything was great. Since it was my dad's first time he wanted to really study and understand the menu. I was becoming much more impatient than the very nice guy behind the counter. Dad wanted some jalapenos on his sandwich and the dude behind the counter warned him that they're fairly hot and suggested going 'light' on the pepper. Dad agreed and it was a good thing. His tongue was burnt when he bit into the first one on the sandwich! The jalapenos actually looked fresh. Not sure, though. Service was perfect, and much better than many restaurants I've visited that offer table-side service. The food is phenomenal. I can't underscore enough that this may be the best burger out there. If you dig a burger and fries, you'll love Five Guys!

I have one word for this place: GREASY. There are lots of options for how you want your burger prepared. Portions are big. Taste: ok Bag that it comes in: GREASY.

First off I was a little freaked out, showed up at 9:30PM starving and the guy was sweeping the floor. He took my order, then I watched him make my hamburger pattie with his bare hands! George Carlin says "it makes me stronger"! The burger was fair, it did have fresh meat not frozen, but the fries were great! cooked in peanut oil, loved the greasy paper bag!

Good homemade-like flat-grill burger. Lots of topping choices. Gourmet mustard would be nice, but it's not an option. Basic amenities and dining area. I would give the 5th star if they served beer.

OMG! Five Guys is the best burger joint! The burgers are very fresh, the toppings are fresh, and the fries are awesome.

I was there for lunch yesterday and again, fantastic burger. I have also been to one their locations in Miami and had the same great taste. Great service done quickly and done right. I usually eat a lot but the double patty cheeseburger with bacon and fries filled me up. I left half the fries behind but I had to finish the burger. It was great. I will have to try some different combinations on my next trip. If you want a great burger and want to be full, FIVE GUYS is the best!!!

We just had lunch at this Five Guys, and had a great meal. The service was fast and friendly. Our party had 2 hamburgers, 2 cheeseburgers, and a grilled cheese. All were just as ordered. The restaurant was also very clean.

Love Five Guys! The little cheeseburger is like heaven on a bun. Always quick and hot at this location. I also love the amount of fries you get here & and pump-it-yourself ketchup. The husband enjoys the malt vineagar option for the fries here too. It is possibly the best cure for any hangover you might have as well.

I am not a fan of hamburger, but I was so excited going to Five Guys and to try their burger - the famous burger. It turned out, the burger was delish and their fries were fabulous. Two thumbs up. This place was packed when I went there with my family, but seats were plenty.. There were probably more than 10 people in front of us... However, the service was fast and friendly. We did not feel that we had to wait too long for our food. As a first timer, I was not too overwhelmed. The menu is simple and you can add any toping you want in your burger for FREE. Burgers, hotdogs and grilled sandwiches. Large fries were a lot to feed 2 adults and 3 kids...we still had plenty left. In the end, we were all happy and left the place with full stomach...Yay!... The wall displays many awards and articles that Five Guys received all over the US - it is interesting. My only problem was high noise level inside the dining area. Open kitchen and wall tiles - could be the main reasons. It was pretty hard to make a good conversation. Also, Five Guys offers peanuts...This could be a problem for someone who has peanut allergy but wants to eat their burger :-((

Great burgers, hot dogs, and fries. Service is good. No frills dining area. Give it a try.....

You cannot beat the simple and delicious menu. I have never had a bad order from this place and will always have it on the list when I am thinking burgers. Try and beat 'em!

What's good: The single-minded focus on burgers and fries (this is not a vast and varied menu, which is good). The selection of toppings for the burgers. What's bad: The price (a small burger, small fry and small drink will set you back close to 10 bucks). The limp, greasy fries.

I love Five Guys. After spending a summer working in Washington D.C. I fell in love with the hamburgers at this little restaurant. After reading the reviews about the one's here in Indy - people obviously don't "get" the awesomeness known as Five Guys. I knew there was a Five Guys up in Castleton, for a number of years, but I never made the trek to go there. I woke up lat week with a craving for a Five Guys burger and fries, so I dragged a friend with me and we stopped by. It was quite busy, since it was lunch time, and the staff was efficient and we placed our orders. I always get a little burger with cheese and ketchup, and a small order of fries (to share often with a friend). We waited a short time, and got our burgers, and it made me so happy - I felt like I was back in Georgetown! The burger was fresh and delicious and the fries were as tasty as I remember. If you haven't been - you place your order and wait for your number to be called. The small order of fries is quite large, and you just dump it in your brown Five Guys bag and tear it up and eat from the bag. Small burgers are a good size and as I said, you can share the fries. They also serve up bowls of peanuts! Delicious, cheap and fresh - I hearts some Five Guys. I think their burgers are better than Boogie Burger - which hasn't impressed me.

Really good burgers and fries. Love that the fries come in a paper bag. Don't understand the peanuts all over the place, but I don't mind it! I did not know that the standard burger is actually 2 patties - I should have gotten the small one, I couldn't handle all that delicious meat.

This place is dangerously good. I go here whenever I'm visiting my parents in the burbs. I was really excited when I saw a Five Guys in Los Angeles as well! I like that I can build my own burger and add as many toppings as I want, which is pretty crucial since I am a big eater.

Yum Yum Yum. The burgers here are amazing and I am addicted. The number of toppings you can request is limitless for no additional charge, but thye do stick to some pretty typical options. No blue cheese, which makes me sad as my FAVORITE burger is black and blue. Pricing for a burger place it is a little higher then I would like to see, but then I weigh in the cheap options are typically soy filled hockey pucks. The Guys give you a real beef patty, A normal is a double, if you can't handle the meat get a little one- its a single. Oh and the fries! Go Cajun and a reg is more then enough for two! If you are trying to satisfy a vegetarian, go somewhere else. They can do grilled cheese, but you go to 5 guys for the burgers!

As far as Burger Joints go this is by far the best burger joint I have ever been to anywhere. Its very affordable and puts the 10 dollar burger joint fad to rest once and for all. Yes its a chain and yes its a shame that Indy is a chain town more than a home grown town but maybe the locals should try to emulate chains such as this one if they want to reverse that trend. They give you way more fries than you could ever eat, so dont order a large size for everyone in your party! Bare bones atmosphere, but obviously they spend the money on the food not the trappings.

  • Chris C.

This is by far the Best Burger Chain anywhere around! Think Steak n Shake only a million times better. The burgers are so fresh and really high quality beef, the best thing is that they have pretty much any topping you want and its UNLIMITED! The standard burger is a double and comes with gooey cheese oozing down the side onto the wrapper. Trust me, you will need an entire roll of napkins to get through this deliciousness, not to mention the perfectly cooked fries, which they make straight from the freshly peeled potatoes. These greasy suckers are usually overflowing in your brown paper bag. If you are on a diet or watching your weight, This is the place to Cheat, dont worry no one will say anything.

A couple of weeks ago I was running around doing errands when I realized that I hadn't eaten. A burger sounded good. I don't usually do fast food but didn't have time to go to my fav's. So I decided to try somewhere new and was passing by 5 Guys. I wanted to taste the burger so ordered it rather plain--cheese onions, pickles, & no sauce. It was scrumptious! - I mean very tasty! Can't say how much I enjoyed it. Why only 3 stars? That's not like me. Well in the Hamburger Kingdom 'very juicy' means 'very greasy'. Yes, I cook a lot and know that fat & bone means flavorful meat. -But what is the juice, if not grease? Taste buds loved it, stomach didn't. Well if you can handle it, more power to you. I mean I'm jealous, because I could continue going here very often, I mean weekly! So can you eat one for me?

Quite possibly the greatest fast food, one-dollar-sign meal in town: the Five Guys cheeseburger with fries. Build it how you like - I prefer to get the 5 food groups in by adding lettuce and pickles and then selecting Mello Yello as my fruit from the awesome custom drink fountain at this location. The fries come in a greasy plain brown paper bag. That's all you need to know.

Five Guys burgers are fresh and amazing...and all toppings (no matter how many) are FREE! But wait! They also hand-cut their fries and the portions are very generous. My favorite part about Five Guys is that they feature a TON of 'zero' soda products with and without multiple flavor options in their Coke Freestyle machine. This is THE ONLY place in town I have found Pibb Zero. Yes, you heard me correctly--PIBB friggin' ZERO on tap! You can even get it with cherry or cherry vanilla flavoring too. Five stars on that alone. We eat here way more than I care to admit as they take call ins for pick up. Put it in your speed dial.

Forget about that restaurant chain with the clown - - - you know the McOne I mean!!! This place has them beat hands down. It is hard to beat a burger cooked to order, unless you prefer to eating micro wave warmed up cardboard. The burger was big & juicy, the plentiful pile of fries was more than we could eat. To top it all off, they had an energy dynamo who would not stop cleaning the tables and floor the entire time we ate there. I will be back!

first time here. hard to understand menu. i ordered a double patty burger and fries. with a drink it was over $12. you can order your own condiments. that was pretty cool. plus they had malted vinegar for the fries. good job there. i thought for the price i could make 2 meals. once i got my food i was unhappy. the burger was small. you do get alot of fries though. it tasted good but for the price i won't be back. for $12 i might as well get a steak.

The whole family enjoyed this place and we try to go every time we go to Trader Joe's, since they are in the same parking lot right there on 82nd street. My family all get the junior cheeseburgers and share one small fry. The junior burgers are like quarter pounders or bigger, and the small fries are like super gigantic biggie sized monsters. Prices are very good. Family of three can eat there very reasonably as long as you know to order the "smalls" since they are really the "biggies."

  • Hope B.

I probably love their food more than I'm willing to admit. I just wish it wasn't so bad for diets and general health. But the free peanuts, fun staff, cleanliness, and the quick service keeps me coming back! Don't skip the fries, only get one patty, load up on peanuts (if you aren't allergic) and bring a friend!

    (3)
  • David M.

Five guys delivers a consistent product, large portions and free peanuts! Expect $7-$10 per person. Do NOT go here if you're on a health kick. They have always had a friendly, knowlegeable staff that works quickly to prepare your food as soon as you order it...expect a 5-10 minute wait after ordering. I always arrive with these expectations and have never been disappointed. My favorite counter order burger in Indy!

Big sloppy burgers and a sack of seasoned fries - I'm in. It's fast food with a higher price tag, but is it worth it? Yeah. As fast as McD's and way better tasting - you know, like actual beef. What sets this place apart from other fast food burger joints is the fact the it taste hot/fresh and not like its been sitting under heat lamps for a few hours, sloppily assembled and begrudgingly handed to you. This is a much better burger alternative without going to a gourmet burger joint.

If you are looking for a healthy meal....well Five Guys isn't the place for you. Their greasy, yummy burgers are filling, but can cause havoc on the waistline. You have to give a big thank you to Indiana for not requiring the listing of calories on these bad boys; which would surely cause a double take to some if they saw it. This Five Guys is on the larger side, and as always, has peanuts in bulk ready for consumption. For those of you with nut allergies beware if you are extremely sensitive. They do provide a heads up with a bright sign prior to entry. They also have the fancy coke machine that can make over a hundred different Coke combinations, so go ahead, and see what weird concoction that you can create. To some, Five guys might be an overpriced fast food hamburger franchise, but it's not. You definitely get what you pay for in terms of quality and portions. And by portions, I mean big. Their regular is a double burger, you pick the toppings, and a small fry could feed a family of four at times, depending on how much they pour additionally into the bag. One of the best things going for Five Guys is that they can modify there burgers to be gluten free, think burger sans bun wrapped in lettuce similar to In-&-Outs protein style. Also, there fries are GF as well since they only cook fries in their fryers. The workers are pretty friendly and follow the allergy procedure as well. Yes it may take a bit longer, but they change their gloves and stuff to minimize cross contamination. Overall, Five Guys makes one good greasy burger.

I honestly believe this is the worst burger in town. My sack was absolutely DRIPPING with grease....dripping out of the bottom of the sack. Fries were cold. No thanks. Far better places to spend my money.

  • Tim J.

The food is decent but the price doesn't meet the food. $24 for 2 burgers, 1 fry, and 2 regular drinks. I guess they are paying for the free peanuts they have out. I don't know. Have some extra cash burning a hole in your pocket and want a just ok burger then here is your place.

  • Allison F.

I try not to be too pretentious with my food choices; I save my calories for when it counts, and most times I will turn down a chain...with the exception of Five Guys. I will never say no to a meal here. It's cheap and tasty with just enough grease. All you have to do is give me a bed of their fries, and I'm a happy girl.

This is a chain restaurant. It started out on the east coast. The burgers are very tasty. Very simple menu as well: 4 ways to get your burgers, dogs, veggie sandwich, grilled cheese, and the fries are five guys style or cajun style. All toppings including (mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, mustard, relish, jalepenos, A1 sauce, bbq sauce, hot sauce) are FREE! It actually comes standard as a double so 2 slices of thin patties and 2 slices of cheese for the normal burger. All burgers are 100% fresh beef with no fillers or preservatives they claim. The board states today their potatoes are from american falls ID driscoll brothers so I assume they use fresh potatoes from different areas of the United States. They also have bins of bulk peanuts available for free to snack on.. I would not recommend coming in if you are allergic to peanuts. The service was very well coordinated and fast for as many people who were in line. There are more and more popping up in Indy so no matter what side of town you are on you can get a quick good quality burger!

5 stars for Five Guys!!! This has to be one of, if not the best place to get some really good, cheap, quick food. I hear can people whining, "I've heard it's greasy?" Well, yeah, it is. But you don't compare 5 Guys to some West Coast juice bar, a nice place you take your significant other for an anniversary dinner, or even a "gourmet" joint that serves up $30 Wagyu burgers. Yeah, it's a chain; but as chains go, this one is pretty darn good. Five Guys is counter service, and while the staff only has limited interactions with you, they're always friendly and efficient about what they're doing. TONS of toppings for your burger, and with the exception of cheese and bacon, they're all free! I'm pretty vanilla when it comes to my topping selections, but it's nice to have the option if I'm in the mood to upgrade. I usually opt for the Bacon Cheeseburger; The Wife sticks with the Little Cheeseburger. Don't let the inclusion of "little" in the title fool you, this is still a good-sized sandwich! Also, a regular fry is plenty to share as they're always spilling over into the bag. Finally, don't sleep on the free peanuts! It's not like you're going to Five Guys specifically for them, but they're a lifesaver if someone is starving and needs a quick snack before your freshly made brown bag of goodness is ready. If you're looking for a quick lunch or dinner, or are just feeling really casual, spend a few bucks more here, rather than some other fast food; you'll be glad you did.

Burger and fries lovers, rejoice! Five Guys is here. My favorite burger in Indianapolis. I love adding grilled mushrooms and onions on my cheeseburger. It's simple. It's classic. And I'm always craving it.

I've seen other reviews rip on this place, but my wife and I really dig this burger joint. I would dare to compare them to In 'N Out (yeah I said it, so what). For those of you that don't know, Five Guys is a chain, that has various locations throughout the nation. They make everything fresh, and all of their toppings are free (bacon and cheese being the only exceptions). My wife usually gets a "mini" burger (1/4lb) while I tend to get the "normal" burgers (rougly 1/2 lb). I love piling on the toppings, in addition to the traditional lettuce, tomato, onion, you can get grilled onions, mushrooms, jalapenos, A-1 sauce, and bbq sauce just to name a few. While you're waiting for your burgers, they have tons of peanuts for you to snack on. It usually doesn't take too long, but if you're starving, those peanuts can hold you over for that short amount of time. The burgers themselves are pretty huge. For anyone from the SD area, they stack 'em like Hodads, and they are just mammoth (depending on the toppings you get of course). I get mine with just about everything, and they tend to be really REALLY messy. Oh yeah, they got fries too. Their fries are ok. They're cajun style, and a regular size one is good for two people easy. Food here is pretty inexpensive, and they give you a lot, so make sure you come hungry. I haven't been to any of the acclaimed burger places in Indy, but I know one place I can go to get a great burger. Chuck Norris Rating- Tornado Punch

Five Guys is the Toyota Camry of burgers! (V6, leather, XLE, of course) Five Guys gets five stars, not because it's the best burger ever, but because it's possibly the best quality, best tasting, freshest burger and fries you're going to find for under $12. In fact, you'll prob have to bump up to a steakhouse type place to find something better. Great food at a great value -- this is THE American burger & fries we've been looking for. And, if it had to be a chain, I'm glad it's Five Guys! Everything is fresh, never frozen -- and, with the exception of bacon & cheese, all burger toppings are free (included)...so you don't have to worry about your wallet and stomach going a few rounds out back behind the willow trees. I still can't get over the fries...and I've eaten A LOT of Five Guys meals. I'm pretty convinced there aren't any fresher french fries in the US. Be warned...they can be a little greasy...but hey, hello...you're eating a burger and fries!! The space is clean, almost sterile...sort of Jimmy-John's-esque, but without the cool signs. They all have free peanuts to hold you over...as it could be 5 minutes or so while they make your food (hence the "fresh" part). I've been to this particular location more times than any other, and I keep going back...which is all I can really say, I suppose. All in all...if you're looking for a Kobe beef or locally fed bison burger, keep moving. But, for a wonderfully-seasoned, fresh, all-American burger and fry experience -- find your closest Five Guys!
