If you're craving standard Americanized Mexican (and really, who isn't?) this place is pretty good. Chips are a bit stale, but otherwise pretty tasty. My friend says be loves coming here because they season their fajita beef so well. I got a fajita burrito and had to agree with him- mighty tasty and the price is right. I wouldn't order the guacamole. Needed more salt and lime before it tasted okay. I don't like having to season my guacamole after I order it, so I wouldn't get it again.

This is one of my few regular spots. When I first moved to Indianapolis a year ago, I immediately set out on finding a Mexican restaurant similar to what I had back home. I can't tell you how many we went through before I found this one. First let me say my boyfriend and I mainly come here for the margaritas. We both order a jumbo peach margarita if not once a week, at least one every two. I love them. They don't skimp on the liquor and a jumbo usually puts me a little past buzzed (plan carefully if driving!). My only complaint is that on the rare occasion, the margaritas will have a funky taste. I don't know what causes this, or why sometimes a peach margarita is yellow, then green the next time. It's only happened a couple times, but I wouldn't discount them for it. The food is amazing. I always stick between ordering the same two things. Chicken chimichanga and the chicken fajitas. I haven't been disappointed once. The rice they have is especially good. Chips and salsa are very good and they are very good about keeping them coming. We come here quite frequently and there isn't a server I don't like. Some of them are very funny and personable. I definitely recommend this place.

It was craving some more Mexican food, so I stopped here. It was ok. I had the chicken soft tacos and pork tamales. I like the tacos more but they were nothing special. The tamales were ok but something was off. I could not put my hand on what it was. I may pass here in the future, unless Im really wanting a soft taco. I ordered carry-out and they were fast about getting it to me. I know they have some small fees for carry out (like 50 cents a taco). Just ok...

One of the better Mexican restaurants on the south east side. The salsa is good and so are the chips. The waiter always refilled our drinks and chips as soon as we needed it. I had the nachos locks. It was delicious. I recommend if you are near.

Cheap authentic Mexican food. Portions are on the small side. Service is slow and English is not really used. Unlimited chips and salsa. Prices are cheap and food is just okay. The atmosphere is nice, dimly lit, and looks like a Socal Mex look. Anyways, not really impressed. There are better places near by.

I've now eaten here several times in the past year and I really must update my previous review rating from 2 stars (nothing special) to 4 stars (special!) Where once I thought the food to be mediocre and unexciting I've now found it to be quite exceptional. I really don't know what's changed except the quality & selection of meats & vegetables seems to be a lot better. And, everything seems to be perfectly cooked. No more over cooked veggies & meats. No more bland rice & beans. Their chorizo is probably the best I've ever had and their house made salsa is really delicious. And, I highly recommend ordering a side of house made tomatillo sauce. It's spicy & wonderful and never exactly the same every time you order it.

Food was great as was the service. I will be back and would recommend anyone to go here that loves fast service with great Mexican food!

Sabroso + chorizo + pollo.... Great country style Mexican food. If the gods could move Fiesta from the West Side to the East Side, our tummies would be satisfied. Great family. Good food. Stellar eats.

First thing I noticed when I walked in was the floor was slick and greasy. Chips were overcooked and salsa was room temperature. I asked for a tomatillo salsa or something hotter and they gave me some but it tasted spoiled. I ordered the hot and spicy lunch burrito and it was OK but nothing to write home about. The burrito wasn't very hot. When I went to the restroom I noticed on the way back to my table that they store the salsa in a bucket with a ladle hanging off the side. Thus the room temp salsa. This was a couple of days ago and I didn't get sick but I won't be back because with food handling/sanitation practices like this someone is going to get sick.

Fiesta Ranchera was a staple for my friends and me in high school (and I loved it then). I lived out of town for awhile and only recently moved back and revisited this place, and I'm happy to say that it's even better than before. Nachos tend to be one of my staples at Mexican restaurants because I love all toppings but don't really care for rice (seeya burritos, etc.). My recent visit was my first time having their nachos, and they didn't disappoint--"fajita style" with all the peppers and onions you could want, refried beans, and their delicious queso (one of my long-time favorites). This was also my first visit since I've become of margarita age, and that was delicious too. Their prices do seem to have gone up over the last several years, but it's not out of line for what I would expect for this type of food. I'm not a great Mexican food authority a la "For authentic Mexican go to this place you've never heard of where no one speaks English and your tolerance for spice should be 12 out of 10", but I like Fiesta Ranchera and I will happily keep coming back. It may not be the ultimate, authentic experience that some seek (and that I occasionally appreciate), but it tastes good and that makes me happy!

Not sure who added info about restaurant but half is incorrect! Full wait service, full menu and fine for kids. Here in 7:45 pm on Sat. night - place 3/4 full, was sat & served within an acceptable time after ordering. Kids all around us but noise level acceptable.Food on other tables look great!

We go to Fiesta a couple times a month and always love it. It's fast and consistently good. My favorites are the chicken soup (the portion is huge), the chicken chimichanga (both have shredded chicken) and the chicken fajitas (with grilled chicken).

Very generous reviews. I am surprised but what do I know. It has to be the margaritas loaded with tequila that keep them coming because it is def not the food or the little pest I never mind you got the hint Sorry.

Cinco de mayo is a ridiculous time to crave Mexican and yet here I am. The place was packed but the wait time was maybe 15 mins.... Good crowd control guys. Pacer game is on... Asada tacos 32 oz of Dos XX... Plentiful chips and salsa. Good times Arriba!

Ask any southsider about Fiesta Ranchera and inevitably they'll say this is their favorite or that they've eaten there. It's right off 37 so it's great if you're traveling between btown-indy and want a solid meal. Drinks: This place has a great draft special on Saturdays, something like $3 for a 32oz. domestic. This place is known for their giant TEXAS margarita. I highly recommend that bad boy. The menu is pretty huge like most mexican restaurants. My two favorite dishes are the steak fajitas and/or pollo supremo but I think just about everything is good. I've never heard of someone not liking their meal. Service is insanely quick and they won't chince on the chips and salsa. For being a restaurant on the southside this is the best Mexican you can get.

I have lived in the area for 10+ yrs and have just recently discovered this treasure. Extremely pleased with service, they go the extra mile to put you first and provide a welcoming experience. I've had three different dishes and all were excellent. Prices are very reasonable, cheaper than what I might spend at a well known Italian chain restaurant. Very highly recommend.

Went there with a group on Monday. They were doing a good business, with most tables full. Food and drink orders were taken without much delay. I ordered 3 chili rellenos and refried beans. Food was served in a timely manner. The quality of the food was a different matter. The rellenos were battered with a heavy batter which appeared to be made with a cornmeal. Cheese had been sprinkled on top and put under a broiler. The top side of the peppers was scorched and some cheese on the plate was burnt black. When cut into the cheese ran out like water not oozing like cheese. No refried beans, finally caught server to mention this. "It will be right out". Never saw a bean. Overall the quality of food and service, I will not return. There are too many better places for Mexican food.

My fiancé and I love in walking distance of this place. It's a wonder that we don't eat here more often. Service is super fast and the food is beyond filling for the price. Lunch specials are between like $5-$8. Love it. The peach daiquiri is yummy!!

Its deff my favorite Mexican spot in Indianapolis.very very good food. But if you are a girl like myself, the Mexicans dudes will hid on you and stare on you the entire time. Its kinda annoying, but if you like that then go there and you will get free complements

We have not patronized this location in the last 10 months and something has changed. I'm assuming the management as I do not recognize anyone in here. We decided to order a pitched of margaritas... wish we would have passed as I could have purchased better anywhere else. Lots of ice making it watered down.

I've been a regular for years at this point. Great food, fair prices, good drinks, quick service. Some of the waiters can make you a tad uncomfortable as a woman, but I honestly think this has gotten better over time. It's kind of uncool sometimes, though.

Created a yelp account because the current reviews don't do the place justice. My wife and I go here twice a month or so. The burrito mexicano can't be beat! Prices are great and service is fast. Wait staff is very friendly and gets our order going as we walk in the door. Chips and salsa are tasty and never-ending. A gem in the Indy southside!

Below average. I live right near it and have visited several times. Food is wildly inconsistent. Service is weak. They'd rather spend time flirting with attractive customers than do any actual work. My recent chimi was god awful. Wont return.

Standard Mexican restaurant. We go here when we're starving, as it's around the corner from our place. The service is always great. The food is pretty good - no complaints.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
