I took the recommendations of fellow Yelpers to skip out on dining in am thankful I did so. As far as Chinese delivery/takeout goes, this is the best tasting I've ever had. Because of my small town buffet options, I typically go General Tso's for any Chinese delivery I get. The lunch special of that is just enough (leaning towards too much) depending on your appetite as there are multiple side options that will help fill you up. I'd put it one notch above what I was hoping for based on reviews. I ordered crab rangoon to meet the $10 minimum delivery order that were a huge let down. They were essentially wontons with crab lightly smeared inside. This was annoying because I felt like I didn't actually get what I ordered and had the very rare urge to call for a refund. Other than that, the phone service was good and delivery time was a little long (45 minutes) even though that's what she told me to expect. Delivery fee is only $1! Typical plates aside, I recommend everyone try the Dragon and Phoenix chef special, which I got delivered on my second try. It's $10 and change, so you don't have to order more to meet the minimum and is easily enough for 2 healthy people to split. Phone service this time was terribly rushed; she finished the order and hung up on me before asking for my card info, but the food got to me 15 minutes quicker than the first time. Honestly, this should be a 3 star for the iffy service, but the Dragon and Phoenix was just that good to me for the price. ...maybe I'll venture into the abyss of dining in one day to test that 3vs4 star.

They are always so friendly. Amazing food!!! I am a huge lover of Chinese take out. My first impression of any Chinese take out is the quality and fast of the egg rolls. This gets 5 stars on everything.

Everything I've tried here has been consistently good. All the classics are probably best-of-kind in town: flavorful egg rolls and crab Rangoon; General Tso's chicken that actually has some spiciness and stays crispy; no "mystery meats" or overly gloppy/corn-starchy dishes as is too often the case in run of the mill American-Chinese places. A hidden gem I've found is their Mei Fun - thin, vermicelli-like noodles, with shrimp; so much deliciousness packed in such a tiny box.

This family owned Chinese Restaurant is one of the best in town. I have ordered take out regularly for two years and not only have I never been disappointed, but have been very impressed with the quality and taste of the food. I have eaten much Chinese food in my life and know the food here is exceptionally good for take out. The vegetables and meats are very fresh--and the taste is superb with perfect sauces and wonderfully moist rice. The restaurant is a hole in the wall kind of place in the old defunct shopping area just off Washington Street behind Popeye's Chicken. However, don't be off put by the bare bones look of the place--the owners have put their money where it counts--on the food. Even the fortune cookies are good! What's more the owners are very nice and sweet and even bring their children with them in the restaurant. I very highly recommend this place for take out--especially if you live in the Irvington or Little Flower neighborhood. A really great go-to Chinese place which I give my highest rating.

I am so excited about this. We just put our order in online and I have the timer running. I've been looking for a good Chinese restaurant in Indy for over a year now and I'd never seen or heard of this place until I saw a thread about it in the Irvington Facebook group. My experience so far (pre-food): The website is great considering this is a small family business (I just added this to the Yelp business profile). The checkout basket follows you up and down the page as you scroll or navigate using the links at the top. The food seems reasonably priced, but I guess the verdict will be in on that shortly. Delivery is $1 and they'll deliver within three miles of their restaurant ($10 minimum for delivery). They also have a super cool dragon as their logo. ----------- Exactly an hour later and the food is here! I was expecting closer to 30-40 minutes (20-30 minutes food prep, and 10 minutes to deliver) but we ordered during peak dinner hours and it's pouring outside. The delivery guy was drenched, apologetic, and very nice. ----------- The food was delicious. We ordered the General Tso's Chicken, two Vegetable Egg Rolls, and Chicken Fried Rice. The General Tso's still had crunch to it which is impressive for delivery. It was also nice to get some chicken that wasn't completely drenched in sauce. There was enough to get the job done, but it wasn't over saturated. There was easily enough for two people in the container. The Egg Rolls were also tasty and crispy. The Chicken Fried Rice was good and the chicken in it wasn't gross and scraggly which can sometimes be an issue. It's worth mentioning that while the fried rice was good, it was just chicken and onion and whatever seasonings they used. Next time we'll probably give the Vegetable Fried Rice a shot (in most places I've been the chicken fried rice is just the vegetable fried rice with chicken mixed in but I don't think that is the case here). Overall I'm really pleased and I think I may have found my go-to Chinese place. The meal, delivery, tax and tip all landed us a bit over $20 and I still have lunch for tomorrow. I'll update my review after I've tried it a few more times, but this has the potential to be a five star Chinese takeout place.

Don't let the way this restaurant looks outside fool you. The food here is excellent. This is not a resturant that is using stock frozen meals. They are are unique and the flavors are perfect. Don't let this one die it is a hidden gem.

We are so happy to have found Dragon City. If I was being 100% totally honest, I think a rating of 3.5 might be more appropriate, but I've gotta round up and hand it to DC for being one of the only enjoyable Chinese take out places in the city. I would emphasize that DC should be a delivery kind of venture, which you should have no problem with since their delivery charge is only a DOLLAR. If you actually go to the restaurant, you will probably be disappointed because it's pretty bleak. Combined with their super easy and convenient online ordering, delivery is definitely the way to go. I think the main thing I like about DC is that the ingredients are clearly fresh (bright, crunchy veggies!) and high quality (no mystery meat!). This alone will make me come back again and again because it makes me willing to try things outside my usual comfort zone. Some of my thoughts on the food: -If you're getting a meat-type fried rice as a side, I would highly recommend combining it with a veggie fried rice. The meat options tend to just be meat and rice and nothing else, but the veggie fried rice has peas, snow peas, mushrooms, carrots, onions, cabbage, broccoli, etc. -Stuff that is fried stays crunchy (hello egg rolls!), which is like a take out miracle in my book. The food is even still crunchy after being doused and transported in a sauce! -The prices are cheap ($4-ish for pints of most of the noodle/rice options), which allows you to try things and not feel too badly if you don't like them. We ordered some lo mein that wasn't a huge hit in our house (noodles were a little overcooked), but no big deal. Bottom line, Dragon City combines most of what I want out of a quick, Chinese take out place: easy ordering, cheap food and delivery, pleasant employees, high quality ingredients, and plentiful, yummy food. Woohoo!

Definitely better than Cheer King and China King! Love the hot and sour soup! Mongolian beef was great! I'll hasn't to try the Hunan chicken next time! Awesome phone service! Upbeat delivery person! Called back to get chopsticks and they made sure I got them! Will definitely order again!

Wow! So far quite happy. My order was perfect. What made this a great experience was the ability to order online and delivered timely. I received exactly what was ordered with nothing missing. I will never go back to Cheer King in Irvington. Fire up your smartphone and download the app.

Ordered delivery. Person taking my order was pleasant and quick. Delivered in 15mins. Food was hot and fresh. Bourbon chicken was good. Crab Ragoon had very little filling. Clearly cooked from frozen.

BEWARE! Terrible food and service. Ordered home delivery and food was wrong, getting replaced was a nightmare, asked for a refund and they were ridiculous about it so I told them to keep the money to get them into go away. BEWARE!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
