I am SO SORRY to write this...but it needs to be said. I took some advice from a co-worker and ordered from Divine.....TWICE. As my profile states, I ONLY visit small, local food joints. I was rooting for this place...but..well.. Visit 1) I got the combo plate. The pulled pork was flavorless...greasy...watery..and very disappointing. The chicken, however, was FAR WORSE. I saw simply DISGUSTING hunks of chicken skin in the pile that was on the plate...I LITERALLY. LITERALLY gagged when I threw caution to the wind and gave it a bite. The third meat...well...after that...I didn't try and don't remember. Visit 2) I ALWAYS want to give a "Local" a second chance. So, throwing caution (and my $$$) to the wind, I decided to give them another chance and order some different things. This time, I ordered a "hot link" and a pork burger (when I do things like this, I take the leftovers home). The "hot link" was edible; after I cut it open and microwaved it for two minutes. The pork burger, however, was the epitome of everything that could be wrong with ANY food item (once again, I PROMISE I am not making this up or using hyperbole). The meat was LITERALLY BURNED TO A CRISP. I took the patty off of the bun and LAUGHED at the dry "clunk" it made when it hit my desk. It was inedible. I wish this place the BEST of luck and hope that my two visits were anomalies, but what happened, happened.

I don't know much about the interior of this facility because we ordered delivery, so here's what we ordered... 1. 1/2 chicken and 3 ribs: The driver forgot the sauce, so I have no idea what it would taste like with sauce on it. The ribs were huge and fell off the bone - a must have feature of ribs. The chicken was juicy, but I'm not a fan of the rub which is just herbs, primarily marjoram, oregano and thyme, I believe. No spice or salt. Again, no sauce so it was pretty bland. I ended up using some sweet baby rays I had in the fridge. 2. Mac and cheese and green beans: Mac and cheese tasted homemade, which is hard to find, but I had hard time really tasting a strong cheese flavor. Perhaps they could use a stronger cheddar flavor. It was thick, though! Green beans had lots of bacon but it has a couple of areas it could improve upon: zero salt (use it, it brings out flavor!) and they use the rub that they put on the chicken in it. It had perfect texture and the nice smoke, but if they fixed those two things it would be magical. 3. Sausage link: VERY spicy. Not smokey. Nothing special. If they used sausage from Claus German Meat Market it would be magnificent. And smoked...even better. 4. Porky Mac: See the above details about Mac and cheese and throw on a pile of juicy pulled pork. I wasn't a big fan of the sauce though. Could be the maple flavor, but not much in the way of seasoning in the sauce. I like a good complex sauce but not a lot of spice. All in all, I'd say a 3 out of 5, but mostly because of seasoning issues. Perfecting flavor takes a little time, but they're on the right track.

Divine BBQ is a small, family owned business on West Washington Street east of Bridgeport Road. It's not a fancy place but clean, good food, 6 or 7 dine in tables, order at the counter and parking is on side or in front of the building. As soon as you walk in your greeted by a warm and heart felt hello from the family. You can dine in, carry out or they offer deliver within a few miles. Their BBQ smoker is outdoors and easy to see as you get closer to the restaurant especially if it's in use at the time. This is the small town type of business where after two or three visits they know and remember you. It is no longer considered Divine 2, just Divine, since they closed the other location. The smoked meats and BBQ is good and not overly sweet sauces. The sauce is added to the meat after you order for those who prefer smoked meat only. The lunch specials are terrific, very affordable for lunch or dinner, nice sides and EXCELLENT homemade mac and cheese. I don't remember the gentleman's name that makes it but he's a hoot and takes great pride in his mac and cheese. Ribs, rib tips, pulled chicken and pork, several sides and desserts are available. Fountain sodas are not available here, only cans, but something I can overlook since the food is so tasty. The Porky Mac is my favorite. Meat and sauce of your choice is on the bottom topped with a large portion of mac and cheese served as a small or large order. Go LARGE! You will find true comfort food here. Just typing this has me thinking of porky mac for lunch tomorrow. Now moving on to dessert...stay at Divine or another option is walk 8 or 9 steps next door to Sassy's. Next door is a SMALL bakery, Sassy's, that opened this past May. Sam and her husband are pastry chef graduates from Ivy Tech and building their dream business. I was one of her first customers on her very first day and I've watched her expand her business into the success it's become. Be sure to pop in and grab dessert to go. MANY tasty treats but the Caramel bars are EXCELLENT!!! And the lemon bars are another favorite along with cupcakes, brownies, etc. Sam and her husband are really nice folks and wonderful addition next door to Divine.

I wanted to try this spot because I love bbq and it's close to my house. I stopped on my way home from the mall and only ordered rib tips. It was a good sized portion and I initially liked the taste of them. When I got home and they had called off a bit, the meat was a little tougher (to be expected). The barbecue sauce wasn't thick as I would've liked and did not have any distinctive taste (bold, tangy, spicy). I'm really big on the sauce and this was a miss for me.

It's a little hole in the wall looking restaurant that has some tasty smells outside. However, the meat tasted like it had been in a crock pot all day & not on the grill. The hot BBQ was not hot or spicy- or really flavorful for that matter & the Mac & Cheese had WAY too much black peppercorn (Yuck!) Cheap. Quick. However, just not as tasty as I was wishing for.

This was a find for me and my husband. We went inside this little building and the overwhelming smell of the BBQ was awesome! We ordered a full rack of ribs, and a half rack would feed two. We could barely finish the ribs. We had a large order of their Mac and cheese and greens. The Mac and cheese was homemade and tastes like my grandma made them, and the greens were just like my moms. The ribs were so tender and fell off the bone. The sauces we got was the sweet and mild and they both tasted awesome with the ribs. This was literally a diamond in the rough. We recommend everyone come in and check it out. Even Adam Sandler and his famous friends recommend this place. There is pictures of him up eating the food. He signed autographs and other things. They loved the food too!

Oh my deliciousness!! I'm visiting from out of town and my only regret is that I didn't find this place sooner!!! The sampler platter contained enough food for two of us!! Perfectly seasoned and the sauce was absolutely phenomenal. Thank you for one of the best bbq meals ever!!

Stuck in an airport hotel today. This place was pretty good. Wasn't a fan of the rib tips. Not really much of a rib guy but I was hungry and wanted the sampler platter. Wish they had brisket instead. The pulled pork and pulled chicken were fantastic with the Mild sauce. The baked beans were delicious as was the porky Mac n cheese. Would eat again.

Disappointed last visit. Something is different with pulled pork, beans, and green beans. Different seasoning over powering the natural flavors. Hope it was just a slip of the wrist or something. I really loved this place.

Been here numerous times, so I thought I would give them a review. First off, not a huge BBQ fan but I like it. I have lived in TX and NC so I have had my share of BBQ. I guess this is more along the lines of NC BBQ, because the sauce is served on the side. With that being said, very good BBQ pork. Porkey and Mac is one of my Favorites! My favorite however, is the Pork Tenderloin! Best I have ever had!

Had the chance to order some food from Divine today and had it delivered at work. I ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwhich, the Porkey Mac and cole slaw. The Porkey Mac is pulled pork and mac and cheese put together and OMG, I could just have made a meal of just that. The combination was great and the taste was incredible. I found their cole slaw to have great flavor and the pulled pork sandwhich was also very good. The meat comes sauseless and they offer 3 types on the side. I went with both the mild and sweet and for my taste found the sweet to be the best option. Overall I found my meal for lunch to be great and my co workers who also ordered everythign from Rib tips to pulled chicken sandwhichs all felt it was great. The only concern was the buns on the sandwhichs were just basic buns and some would have liked better buns...but to me it's about the meat...not the buns...

Divine 2 is down toward Plainfield on Washington St. along side the road in a strange location. The BBQ pit master is out along the road at times wafting delicious BBQ odors my way as I've driven on by. We have been meaning to try this place out countless times, but it does look like a total dump and I wasn't sure if it was a dine-in or take out only establishment. Finally took a chance and stopped in (parking is weird). It looks about as you would expect inside. Hodgepodge of tables and old worn chairs that look like Goodwill finds. We ordered a sampler platter due to not knowing what I wanted, this included pulled pork and rib tips with sides. You get slices of bread (was hoping for some homemade buns or cornbread - sad Panda). The hubby ordered a full rack of ribs. Drinks are cans of soda (no fountain?? Ahhhhh!!! My personal nightmare but I will cope). Food came out fast and piping hot. No plates? OK. So they don't cook the sauce in the meat, which I know this varies depending on your BBQ heritage. The ribs were pretty quality, you could tell they had been cooked a good long time, and packed a lot of flavor. You get a lot, so would recommend a half rack for the average Joe. The rib tips were alright, alittle too boney and fatty and not enough meat, but they had nice flavor. The beans I got as a side were very good, but the slaw seemed like a canister bought from a store, nothing fantastic and very creamy. The pulled pork was VERY peppery! I wasn't a fan. Tasted like beef jerky it was so seasoned, but the hubby liked it. Guess it just depends what your preferences are. The prices are reasonable. We dropped about $32 and took half of it home, so we got a ton of food for the money. My largest issue with the food was the sauce. It was really runny and didn't pack much of a flavor. I'm a sauce lover so it was a bummer not to have some awesome BBQ sauce to top off the meat.

I've been here a couple times. I had a pulled pork sandwich w/hot bbq sauce. The meat was hot and tender, coleslaw tasted like out of a tub, the baked beans were runny, but they had chunks of meat mixed into them. It's a fun little divey place to get a quick bite. A couple tables inside, smoker in the parking lot out front.

So after almost getting killed pulling into the place(driver is insane)....we stopped here for lunch. We walked in and I wasn't to sure....very small. I'm talking 5 tables max! Menu is on the wall. Order at the counter. Pay. Sit and they bring it to you. Staff was friendly and nice. Place was clean. They give you options for your BBQ sauce and you can even mix them to make your own variation. I went with a sweet/hot blend on pulled chicken, with baked beans and green beans. Chicken was super tender and flavored well. Green beans were cooked slow and in butter and they were amazing. The baked beans were cooked with bacon-how do you go wrong? My friend got the same thing except with Mac and cheese. Portions were large-we could have split one meal....but did not. Mac and cheese was creamy and delish. I did notice everything had pepper in it. Visible pepper that gave it a kick. Interesting joint. Good ways for the price!
