This review is of the DQ Grill n Chill at 9040 North Meridian St Indpls IN 46260 Without much question, one of the worst-run and disgraceful business efforts on the north side of Indianapolis, and it has not gotten any better since the open. This DQ G&C is about two blocks from my house. I want it to be good. It would be great to walk over and get lunch or a Dilly Bar. But it is not good, it never has been good, and I don't foresee (short of whoever owns this place actually showing up and "owning it") that it will ever be anymore than a broken franchise. Within a few days of the opening of this location (maybe a year ago now?) I visited with my family. There were patrons standing around in bunches in the entrance. There was a middle-aged blonde who was ostensibly in charge of three or four kids. She appeared to be training them, right at dinner hour with customers waiting, how to do their jobs. WTF?? Wasn't the time for training BEFORE the store opened? And it wasn't just taking the orders. What we ordered was not what we got. Every single person in my party got an item that was different than the item they wanted. The problems at that time were store-wide: counter, management, kitchen, server....everything was a mess. It was several months before I went back, alone, at lunch and they were able to get a simple order like a bacon cheeseburger combo right. For one person. The only person in the store (besides the help). So last night I went to the store at dinnertime, it was Saturday, there was one customer at the counter and she was texting into her phone. There was no one at the counter. A young white male employee with bad acne was sitting on a window sill staring into his phone behind me. I walked up to the counter and waited, and waited, and casually asked the other patron where the help was? She said she was getting an ice cream cake and they were writing on it. I just shook my head figuring the kid with acne was on break and I would have to wait a minute. While I was waiting I wandered around looking in the store. There was a white female employee, slender, about 20-23 years old over at a table with her phone and food oblivious to anyone or anything. There were no customers in the store at all other than myself and the cake woman. My order was a no-brainer: I was buying a box of Dilly Bars. All anyone had to do was just ring me up, take the cash I had in my hand and I was gone. Unfortunately even that is too much for this staff and management. In a moment a black male employee with a headset, maybe 30-35 years, came ambling out (I guess from the drive-thru) and nearly walked over me at the counter on his way to stand in the dining area and text on his phone. I swear I thought the dude was going to bump me out of his way from the look on his face. It was like he was not responsible for me or my sale or anything other than making his way to somewhere he could text that phone. After maybe five minutes the kid with acne looked up and I am sure he could tell I was getting impatient. He offered to help. He went to the register. He began punching in numbers. He looked up at me, and said, "I can't get it to open". So far 3 employees either could not or would not ring up a crappy sale for some ice cream bars. About this time a young black female employee, maybe 20 (or less) walked across the kitchen, looked through the pass-through at me and just kept on walking out of sight. In a couple of minutes a couple of black male employees a little bit older did the same, although in their defense it looked like they MIGHT be decorating the cake. But jeez how many men does it take to decorate a stinking cake? So in total there were six people working there last night and none of them was doing anything but either sitting, standing around, texting, looking at their phones, trying to run customers over, ignoring them or MAYBE decorating a cake. Again why it takes two grown-ass men to do that is beyond me. I have a third encounter from a lunchtime visit where a black female, obese, about 35 or 40 brought my meal out to me (that's how they do it at this DQ, all table service) and had the same "Like it or leave it" attitude about my patronage and the food. BTW the food is okay, not great of course because it is DQ, but for the most part it's put together competently and the stuff is hot....but MAN do they have an attitude and service problem here. It has been the case ever since they opened and here a year later they still have no clue how to treat customers. Again, I am not trying to be mean. I want them to get their shit together. It would be nice to patronize them as they are so close to my (and a whole lot of houses) neighborhood. I am not at all confident they have the management or regional oversight to ever do it though.

Much better experience this time! There were smiles! Very, very welcome smiles. Husband and I both had pretty difficult days, so my ambition was very low. This DQ is at the halfway point between my office and home. I wanted to bring him home a happy treat, so I cringed and pulled in. A mere minutes later my trepidation was gone and I was surprising my husband with a frozen goody. Thanks for a better experience and a better ending to my very challenging day. Please keep it up! A smile and friendly tone can make a real difference. It did for me today.

Too bad you have to give them at least a star. Seriously people DO NOT GO HERE! This has got to be the most terrible DQ experiences I have ever had. Show of hands. How many of you that have been to this location have had to either wait about 5 minutes at the menu to be asked what you want or have had to pull around to the front to wait for your food? Yep, that's what i figured. This Dairy Queen is a mess. They barely do their jobs right, they hardly ever get your order right, they don't know how to greet you at the window, they almost always have you pull around front even when they are not at all busy. Not to mention you'd think them actually throwing a smile your way is some sort of disease that allows them not to do so. You can tell they hate working there and it goes so far as to get in the way of the entire customer experience. I've called their corporate hotline twice and has anyone from the company even bothered to get back to me? Of course not. If you really want ice cream please go anywhere but here. I'd say go to a different DQ but take a look at their Consumer Affairs reports and let that speak for itself.

A few nights after my last review we were back. They were OUT of CHOCOLATE soft serve!!! Seriously should never happen. So we ordered nothing.

Dairy Queen can always satisfy my "give me any frozen dairy treat" craving in sufficient quantity with a reasonable price. Ohh so tasty! Dilly Bar, dipped cones, Sundae, or Blizzards never disappoint. This restaurant is new, very clean, and the staff are terrific. I haven't tried any Grill items as I am stuck on gorging on the Chill side.

I've been here twice now. Not exactly the greatest experience either time. The first time, I went to the drive thru and the young man at the window wasn't exactly the most friendly. Didn't respond when I said "thank you" and just handed me my food. Didn't say anything to me really. Then I get back home and realize they messed up my order. They gave me the wrong sandwich. Since I was already sitting and ready to eat, I just ate what they gave me which was ok. It's a Dairy Queen, so I didn't expect gourmet food. But I did at least expect good customer service which I did not get. The second time there I waited in the drive thru line for 30 minutes. Yes...30 minutes. Enough said. 2 stars for the food...no stars for the service.

This Dairy Queen disappoints me every time. They get the simplest orders wrong. I asked for a chocolate dipped vanilla cone once and they dipped the cone in the hot chocolate sauce that never hardened so it ran down the cone the whole time. I asked for extra marshmallow pieces in a smores blizzard and they added hot melted marshmallow so the whole thing was a melty mess. And if I wanted to be a real jerk, they never turn the blizzards upside down when we go through drive through. I could have had many free blizzards by now....I don't know why I still go there except it's close.

This is the cleanest DQ I ever been the most awesome employes and the food is cook at order really fast But there is always a but yes if you are in a hurry don't go around lunch time(11am to 2pm) because they are pack and I'm guessing that everyone is new still so they are a little slow when there is a lot of customers so not good for big family's on lunch hour. For everything is a good place to lunch and dine

Nothing bad to say about a DQ unless they royally mess up. Not here. This place as of this date and time is new and only opened a few weeks ago. The placement is a little weird on the property but make sure you go to the side of the building to enter and drive through requires thought. Other than that a great DQ place we all know and love.
