Fish and Chips! Go get the Heir to the Throne and know that it doesn't get better than that in Indy. The atmosphere is great. The wait staff can be hit or miss, but the food makes up for it. Most of the menu items I've had have been tasty. The beer selection is a bit limited, but you can always get the Irish standby Guiness Stout.

I went to Claddaugh on Saturday night for drinks and had great service. The hostess and our server were really nice and attentive. And the General Manager Paul even came around to check on us and chat. I will definitely go back.

Faux irish atmosphere with lackluster beer selection. They also poured me a flat guiness, which is blasphemy for any bar proclaiming to be Irish. The food is good, but the downtown Indianapolis locaiton is better.

Good food. Their Sunday brunch was a 5 out of 5, but they don't offer it anymore. I wish they would bring it back. That brunch was dyn-o-mite like Jimmie Walker.

Excellent fish and chips. I don't like when its all greasy thick batter and no fish by his place had a nice thin batter that was lightly crispy with a great flavor. Highly recommend.

I went there for Mother's Day with a large party. Great buffet! They even made waffles, eggs and bacon for my Nephew since he was disappointed there was no breakfast. A+++++

Pros: nice to sit outside on a warm night, listening to live music. Cons: Shepherds pie was heavy on potatoes and light on meat and veggies....

Good food, good drinks, love the live music. This is always a good choice out with friends. We went for a late night dinner after seeing they were open to 10. I got the stuffed pork chop and really liked it. I am glad I went away from the normal fish and chips to try something new. It was cooked well and the stuffing with sun dried tomatoes was an excellent touch. They also have a late night menu, but we were able to order from the regular menu. The late night one had some really good choices as well. But the kitchen was very accomidating.

We used to come here often when our friend played music there on Friday nights, but it's been awhile. It was actually almost 9 on a Sunday when we got there so they were pretty dead. The bar had some people, but it was only one other actual table eating. Turns out they switch to more a late night menu and we had been given regular menus. Our waiter gave us the menu and it was mostly appetizer and sandwiches. We were fine to switch to order from it, but then the kitchen said they would make whatever we wanted. I was glad that they offered to do this since they didn't have to at all. The Monte cristo sounded good, but I really enjoyed my Gaelic Chicken. The sauce on it was amazing. I think it said it was cooked with Irish whiskey. The zucchini and squash it came with were steamed and really fresh tasting. My husband also enjoyed his stuffed pork chop.

I have to hand it to this Claddaugh location for a couple of reasons: 1.) friendly staff 2.) spacious side room that is feast for private events like the painting class I attended recently 3.) Yelp check in offer on an Irish coffee? Sign me up! 4.) the hot scotch coffee/liquor combo was mighty delicious! Sayyyy what? There's alcohol in this? :)

Claddah's is in a good location, has a great atmosphere and even private rooms for social events, but the food leave much to be desired. I enjoyed an after work event recently and couldn't force myself to touch the 'appetizers' that were offered to us. The entire spread looked like a T.G.I.Friday's exploded all over the table. Show me a heaping corned beef sandwich or signature fare, and & I'll consider frequenting more often. I'll pass on the annual Green Beer for St. Patty's day.

Ta' an bia sobhlasta! I totally Googled that...but this food is delicious! I've been here a few times now and feel confident that I can give a good review. I'm being honest when I say that each time I go, I order the fish sandwich...so sue me! How can you not order fish and chips? The fish here is unbelievable...probably what they're known for the most and quite deservedly so. Something I didn't expect is how great their desserts are! This is a great place for a work lunch, a girls night, or a date night. Great food, great atmosphere, and the staff is warm. I've never come here to drink yet, alarming I know...but I've been here a lot for work meetings and afterwards I find it hard to go back to work as I always seem to put myself in a delicious Irish food coma. I need to go drinking here as I'm sure it'd be a whale of a time! :)

Came in to grab some food and listen to live music. We overheard the hostess cut down the live music and mention that "this is why Friday's and Saturdays are bad here because the music is too loud." The music is clearly not loud as I can hear a table of cackling old women across the bar being louder. This seems not only bad for business at the Claddagh but cuts down the musician as well. Live music adds to the dining experience and overall ambience of the evening. I am very disappointed with what we overheard in my visit here, and would only come back for the music, not the rude wait staff.

It's never a good sign if you're still dealing with a restaurant mistake a week later. Mistakes happen. I get that. I tell my people at work all the time. It's not about whether mistakes happen - they will, we're human. It's about how they're handled. Unfortunately, we're on the side of a poorly handled mistake here. And it's very much ended our Claddagh interest. Husband and I ordered two Jameson burgers and a car bomb cheesecake for carry-out. The distance required for travel is not that great, which is key for carry-out. When Husband arrived home we could not have been more sad. In years of Jameson burger eating we had never received something so grotesque and indelible. Both we just hockey pucks devoid of cheese and onion straws. We called up the store and requested a refund for the burgers. I might note here that Husband and I feel very strongly against receiving compensation beyond a return of our money in the event a mistake like this happens. A refund and apology works fine. Oh, and if we've had more than a bite or two, we don't want a refund either. Husband hopped in the car and returned the horrific mistakes to the store sans the one bite taken (which could not be swallowed). The manager apologized for the incredibly embarrassing burgers and assured the charge would be adjusted. Problem solved, right? No harm, no foul. We got burgers from another place and moved on with our day. Unfortunately, the charges were never adjusted. We sit here a week later forced to resolve the issue via the Amex dispute department rather than Claddagh handling the mistake. It's unfortunate. But has most likely ended our relationship with this place.

VERY Poor customer service. The sign outside advertised the beer discounts and kids eat free. The place barely had anyone there and we had the worst service ever. We ordered a second drink, the server said OK.....nothing. My sins meal was messed up . The bill came with the kids meals on them and he ran the wrong ticket on the wrong credit card ...twice...no apology just apathy ... The manager was just as bad , only excuses and told us that "well to get the kids dinners free he needed a managers approval" soooooo was it a trick to see if we noticed they didn't give us their advertised special? Will not go back... Ever... I eat out 4-7 times a week and this will not be one of the places we go

  • Sarah H.

Sunday night there iare some good specials on drinks and also a kids eat free with adult entree. We had the chocolaty stout pint that was really good. Fish and chips are a classic and really delicious. One of our sides was the sausage roll of 3 big pieces and it was more of a puff pastry with sausage inside and tasted awesome. The stew my hubby got was pretty good but tonight it was a bit tougher than normal so the manager took care of it immediately. Great service all around and we will definitely be back.

A solid option - decent food, friendly service, old-timey atmosphere (surprisingly quiet due to the area divided into multitude of individual rooms an corners Irish pub-style), wide range of beer choices, including local and Irish. After a long Saturday, we got in right away with kids who were too tired to wait for busier places. Sun King and piping hot Fish and chips and the house salad hit the spot for a cold night. The hostess was pleasant and attentive. We thawed out and enjoyed the dinner between the stained glass windows and artificial flowers placed around the place. However, the foodie in me slept through this pleasant night. Same fish and chips as 10 years ago, same feel, nothing to write home (or Yelp) about.

Enjoyed the Fish and Chips, generous crispy piece of fish on bed of thick-sliced fries and a side of coleslaw. Very authentic. On Monday, they have a two-for-one fish and chips special. The service was very prompt and friendly. I really liked the atmosphere, but wished they had a roaring fire going in that cozy fireplace, in the center of the dining room! We also shared a dessert of bread pudding, which was a wonderful surprise. Moist, with raisins and a nice hard sauce with a drizzle of caramel. We will return.

I had been wanting to go here and finally got to a few weeks ago. It's a really cool building to catch your eye as you're driving down 96th----like a castle. The inside boasts some Celtic charm as well---stone, wood, books, fireplace. I really like the feel of the place. We sat in a side area by a big circular room that would be perfect for a get-together or celebration. I got the Magner's Bellini and holy moly was it delicious! Our waitress was a little preoccupied with the group in the aforementioned alcove so the guy that seated us got our drinks. I appreciated this as I was certainly ready for a drink. Overall the staff was super attentive and friendly (I always think this is worth mentioning; service isn't what it used to be). As for the food, my boyfriend got some pork chop thing. I'm not a big fan of pork chops usually but this stuff was flavorful and melt-in-your-mouth good. It's the homey, perfectly-seasoned fare I expect Irish meals are made of. As for me I had a craving for a Monte Cristo. I have to say it's nigh impossible to find them at all but----here it was! And it was fantastic. For the quality of food and service, this is well worth your time and wallet. I think it definitely feels more like restaurant but if you're feeling like a drink----Magner's Bellini---, stop into the bar or enjoy their patio.

  • Kristen W.

I was surprised by the lack of patrons on a Saturday evening. The patio had a fair amount of diners enjoying the live entertainment but I don't think there was a single table full of customers inside. Good pub food with an Irish flair but nothing outstanding. I personally thought the fish & chips tasted better when I reheated it at home the next day, the fish wasn't as crispy as I am used to with this entree. I was a little disappointed by the draft list, it left much to be desired with so many great local craft beers to choose from. Would likely return if in the area, but it's not at the top of my list.

The best fish n chips in town! This is my fiance and I go to restaurant on Sundays. Great deal and great foooooooood. This location is absolutely different from the one downtown. this location has a more mature and reserve ambience. bring your friends and family. .....Cheeeeers!

I am very sad to have to give two stars to what was once one of my favorite restaurants. My last experience was very difficult. It was St. Patrick's day weekend and it was Kilt Night, but it was nowhere near as crowded as I have seen it before. The wait for seating was not bad, but once seated it went downhill. Bar service was very slow, which is forgivable on that weekend. The service at the table was terrible - our food was brought out by a runner and we did not get silverware/napkins until it had been on the table for 5 minutes. How does that even happen? It went downhill from there. The entire restaurant needs to have some maintenance on it. The black walls are chipped and dirty, the front door handle was loose, the chairs were barely holding together, and things are just looking tired and worn out. I'd really like to see this place spiffed up and maybe have the servers care.

The 96th Street Claddagh is my favorite Claddagh. This is where I love to go for sessions and a pint. While I'm there, I have to get a bite. I'm waiting to have something that is poorly prepared or not delicious. The full Irish breakfast is served all day. BOGO fish and chips on Monday.... And, of course, the Guinness.

Chopped salad is the best I've had. The mix of blue cheese crumbles and bacon was really good with chicken and fresh lettuce. My son loves their clam chowder.

I love this place, everything I have ordered has been delicious! Corned beef and cabbage rolls in the appetizer section is a must for every visit we make. Buy one get one fish n chips every Monday is awesome! Great service and warm inviting environment.

This place reminds me of home, even though I'm not from Ireland. Most pubs in the UK have the same vibe as The Claddagh. The beer and cider imports are great, they know how to pour Guinness correctly and the food is nice. I had the fish and chips, my wife had the veggie burger, both tasted fresh and flavourful. The only thing I would change is the chips are actually potato wedges, and fresh cut potatos would be amazing. Still I can' complain, the place is great. I'll be back to try the irish stew very soon!

  • Angey M.

The only reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because the fish was decent. We sat at the bar and our bartender was busy with cleaning glasses, service well and trying to manage the patrons at the bar. The other staff asked if he needed anything but he said he was ok. That's fine if you don't walk by patrons several times by just spot checking to make sure everything was ok. Just because I have a drink full does not mean that you have me a clean appetizer plate (it was dirty). Then when my husband and I were ready for boxes because we were REALLY ready to go he just kept walking by us at a quick pace, noticing we had drinks so thought we didn't need anything else. Then, once I caught his attention, he stopped to grab my plate with food on it and walk it off to the kitchen. Note to managers: make sure your bartenders understand customer service. We won't be back.

This review is about the manager of Claddagh. He was acting as the host and was suddenly slammed by people coming in the door. He was quick to try and get everyone seated and allowed us to sit at a table by the bar without us knowing it would be an inconvenience and it would mean he would need to act as our server as well. He was amazing. He took the time to learn our names and talk about different wines and whiskeys. He answered our questions about where he was from and how drinks were different in American from Scotland. He never make us feel as though he was rushed or that we were taking too much of his time. All the while he still gracefully greeted others and fulfilled his other duties. I wasn't hungry so I didn't happen to eat but this individual alone will make me return.

The service is usually lack luster. Don't go if you're in a hurry or really hungry. I've tried a few items on the menu and never been very impressed. They do have live Irish music, but I like good food with my music.

Enjoyed Claddagh's in downtown Indy until they got all "Here's your hat, what's your hurry" with us. Our party of 5 was shooed out the door on Derby Day for a group with reservations. We paid our hefty bill (appetizers, drink buckets, entrees) and moved on for drinks and dessert elsewhere. So offended, we haven't been back to the Meridian location since. So, I was leary of stopping here at 96th but am glad we did. Much larger venue, more tables, more bar. Good drink list - even red Bull or Barry's Irish Breakfast Tea for those not in the mood for brews or cocktails. Bruschetta's not bad for a pub. Haven't tried their Mussels in creamy Harp lager broth. Chicken Curry is oddly served with fries - wha? It's ok but I probably won't order again. Husband pleased with Shepherd's Pie made with ground beef & kids devoured the leftovers. Sadly, my favorite dish (fish, veggies, puff pastry) was dumped with the new menu. Others at our table were happy with burgers and sirloin steak options. Our server at 96th was patient, offered drink suggestions when asked, an overall great server.

I have been going to the Irish Pub for years. I am a fan to say the least. They change their menu seasonally. They also have bands play and its always a fun place to be during St. Patrick's Day. I think they have great fish and chips and the seasoned fries are awesome. We generally have good service when we go. I would also recommend the Strongbow if you are interested in trying a hard cider. Very nice! The corn beef and cabbage is good as well. They also have a good Shepard's pie and bread pudding. I have eaten there many times. Now if you are looking for a late night gathering, not many people are out and about at this location. It is also family friendly and has breakfasts during certain holidays.

    (4)
  • Leslie H.

Great atmosphere and good selection of Irish food. There's even an Irish band playing music on the weekends. It's as "authentic Irish" as you can get in Indy. I ordered the fish and chips. They provided my must have malt vinegar and I was even surprised when I found out that they have HP sauce for my chips. I will definitely come back again.

  • Kara F.

Oh, the Claddagh. It's not the greatest, but kind of love it. All the food is deliciously bad for you. Guiness and Strongbow flow from the taps. Faux-Irish pub ambiance wafts in the air. It can be hit or miss though. This is where I have encountered literally the best, most fun waitress in the entire world (ack, I can't remember her name!). On a more recent visit, service was only okay, and the bleu cheese dressing that came with a friend's wings was so bad, even the waitress made a face when he asked her to try it. Plus, it was a Friday night and the crowd looked more like it was a Tuesday. And we heard 5 different Muse songs in about an hour and a half. Strange. Oh well. The spinach dip, Scotch eggs, fish and chips, and bread pudding are great, and I'll be back.

Service is always great here. Guaranteed a good time! We had the long islands which are a great deal at $4 but would be what you'd expect in paying $4. The artichoke dip was delicious and the service was fantastic.

very typical "irish pub". they have your usual beers on drafts and a good selection of whiskeys. on the couple of occasions i have been there they did make my drinks very strong and i was very appreciative of that. I think their onion rings are pretty good. once again for pub food this place is a little pricey(just means not worth the money). there are other pubs which can do better food for the same cost. service in the place has been quick and decent and does make you feel satisfied. I also think they close too early on weekends and game days which sucks for them.

    (3)
  • Joel M.

Claddagh's has the "Ye Ole Irish Pub" atmosphere down to an art, from the hand paintings on the wall to the bagpipes blaring from the Irish band on stage. It's almost as if they go a little too far with the Irish theme, cramming every stereotypical Irish symbol, artifact, food, and beer in the place. Something tells me that even real pubs in Ireland don't have this much Irish flair going on. The food was maybe a little better than your typical pub/bar food and they have a handful of "authentic" Irish dishes on the menu - corned beef & cabbage, banger & mash, and an Irish breakfast. The fish and chips we're decent, but it's hard to mess up a dish in which everything is deep fried. I will say their ranch and tartar sauces were delicious and may have been homemade. The beer list was pretty solid - all of your typical Irish beers (mostly Guiness brands) were available and most on tap. I was impressed that they had several 3 Floyds beers on tap (Dreadnaught, Zombie, and Robert the Bruce). What was NOT impressive is that they bring you these beers in a little snifter glass (10 oz?) and charge you $8 a pop. The beer prices aren't on the menu, and I'm pretty sure it's because nobody would ever pay $8 for 10 oz of any beer. I would recommend this place for a night out with friends and family looking for a good time, okay food, and a very stereotypical Irish pub experience.

Doesn't seem like a chain restaurant. Very cozy feel to the 96th location. Beers are a bit pricey at $6 a pop. You can never go wrong with the fish n chips or shepherds pie, both are top notch. I had the bread pudding on my last visit and it was unbelievably good.

DT LOCATION IS MORE LIVELY, BETTER RUN Caladdagh's 96th Street location is okay... just okay. We've been a few times... most recently for Monday's 2-for-1 fish-and-chips. We were seated in the Gothic Room with a large family birthday party and another couple. There was no light, no background music, no fire in the fireplace. B-O-R-I-N-G except for the company and an occasional staffer loudly moving furniture and sweeping floors next to us. We're not sure there was a host, hostess or manager. Certainly, the special was not all that special. Despite being slow, we each finally got our ONE albiet large piece of breaded fish, a few waffle fries and a table spoon of TASTELESS slaw. Two for $15 w/two beverages required. Our meal would not have been worth anywhere near a $30 regular price plus what they charge for Guinness. So, what we got and experienced would regularly be $40+ before the tip???? Uh, we don't think so. In actuality, they should probably run their BOGO Sunday through Thursday, because the place is never that busy... or maybe they should offer all-you-can eat, which could only be, at most, one more piece of heavily breaded cod or whatever generic fish it is. It's a cool looking place... but they need to work on customer relations and reactions.

To me, it seems like the Claddagh spent all their money on decor, all while missing the point of a good restaurant, having great food. It really was beautiful in there. I DIG UK food. I really do. I was that weird kid bringing watercress sammies and corned beef to school. The Claddagh just missed the mark with me, however. I had the Irish Stew and it was more like soup. Root vegetables? Forget about it. I only had beef, potatoes, and carrots, making this a $13 bowl of Dinty Moore. The soft bread that came with it seemed to me part of a wilty Italian roll, and added nothing to the dish. Although, my Bloody Mary was fantastic, complete with a strong horseradish flavor. At least you got the booze right, Claddagh! With the centuries of traditional Irish music that are available, I don't understand why during my visit I heard Dave Matthews (three times), Jack Johnson, and Coldplay. I get it, you want to be an Irish restaurant. Just leave that to Nine Irish Brothers in Lafayette and continue serving mediocre American food masquerading as Irish. Most people probably won't notice.

Got in town late for a meeting the next day and saw this place. Iwas tired and hungry and gave it a shot, only because the place next door had a half hour wait at 8:30PM on a Wednesday night. Ordered the Chicken Curry. Wanted something healthier than Fish & Chips. Saw the Fish and Chips and should have ordered it. Looked pretty good. Back to my dish. Hardly edible. It said served with root vegetables. More like canned/frozen peas and a few strips of green pepper. Ane the chicken burned my tongue. Pretty sure it was microwaved based on the intense heat and rubbery texture of the chicken. Nasty stuff. At least my Irish Whiskey did not disappoint!

My husband and I let groupon fund our date nights. We were out of town and this place had a really cool deal. Upon arriving they warned us that it'd be a long wait, so they suggested we sit at the bar. Cool deal! Neither of us had, plus we were without our loving toddler, so it was possible! The loaded pub chips are so good! We finished every single bite. The atmosphere is superior for a chain. Check the place out!

I enjoy the Claddagh, even though it is a chain. I'm more familiar with the downtown Indianapolis location, but I recently visited the Northeast Indy spot to buy my dad lunch for his birthday. First...this location is in a kind of "no man's" land. With all of the construction & traffic on N Keystone, it's difficult to get here without pulling out your hair or driving through workers. That's a joke. Second...there is not much else here, because of the location behind Keystone at the Crossing and west of Castleton -- which I tend to avoid like the plague when visiting home. Third...the food is good, but the prices are somewhat outlandish. Fish and chips (which really should be "whale and chips" given the size of the filet you receive) is $13.99! Seriously? How much are you paying the staff? I'd rather drive the additional 90 minutes to Bloomington and eat at the Irish Lion where I can save $5. Maybe they are trying to compete with the Scotty's Brewhouse across the road, which has long been known for its sky-high prices. Beer list is solid, along with plenty of Irish whiskey selections. The usual suspects (Guinness, Smithwick's, Strongbow) are all here and in play. Fourth...solid service from our waitress. She was friendly, peppy, timely, and checked on us multiple times -- and unlike other young workers you might see at similar establishments, she was not distracted by her cell phone. :-) Finally...I expected the place to be more crowded -- we arrived at what would have been the heat of the lunch hour on a Saturday and there were a whopping three tables. I almost felt bad for the loud conversation my dad, brother and I engaged in throughout the meal -- we were clearly the loudest and most lively table they saw from opening through 1:30pm! I chalk this up to potential visitors not wanting to wrangle with the construction and going elsewhere. Loses an additional star for the background music -- you're supposed to be an Irish pub. Last I checked, Death Cab for Cutie was not traditional Irish music :-) It's a decent place to grab a good bite to eat if you're in the area, but if you're looking to spend less money, I'd recommend elsewhere.

It's official. I love this place. After my daughter and I had pedicures last night, we met her husband for dinner. I used my remaining restaurant.com coupon and I will not hesitate to buy more. Although you can only use the coupon Monday-Thursday, it can only be used for food, and there is a minimum $35 order, but that works for us. We come for the food :-) My daughter and I ordered the fish and chips again, along with a glass of wine each, and my son-in-law ordered a burger with a side of the mac and cheese with a beer. With the coupon, our bill came out to be about $30. Not too bad for 3 people. I'll be buying more of the restaurant.com coupons.

I've been to Ireland. I know what an Irish pub should be. Claddagh IS an Irish Pub! That's a BIG compliment!! Arrived as a group of 12 with no notice the day before St. Patrick's Day. No wait and we were easily seated in the barrel area. Service was quick and we all had drink orders within 5 min of sitting down. Ordered the Fish and Chips, and it was HUGE! Also didn't have to ask for the Malt Vinegar, they brought it out. Very tasty! I'll be back here as I'll be making frequent trips to Indy. Parking is plentiful, except when they put up this tent for St. Patrick's Day. ;)

I don't consumer alcohol so this review is for the food only. The Shamrock Wings appetizer with "signature shamrock sauce" were dry and had no sauce that I can discern. The Claddagh onion rings appetizer were very ordinary. The fish and chips were very mediocre, at best. But, frankly, how bad or how good can deep fried battered fish and potato wedges get? Maybe if I consumed alcohol I would have enjoyed it more because of the beer. Or I would have had so much beer I wouldn't even remember the food. Regardless, bypass the food at ths place.

Came here specifically because I was craving a veggie burger. Their veggie burger is definitely not the typical spicy black bean patty -- it is a spinach and feta patty that they say is homemade. It is definitely different and not what I was expecting, but it was still pretty good! They advertise it is freshly made from scratch too. Father ordered their chicken curry which he didn't like at all, while husband ordered their fish and chips, which he seemed to like. Their "pub chips" though are definitely not British chips at all, they are instead potato wedges. They are seasoned and taste great but they are not British chips. Their drinks are pretty expensive, and so is their food. Staff didn't seem to notice us entering as we waited awhile to be seated, but other than that unattentiveness, staff seemed friendly enough. Some weird decor, not very Irish in my opinion, and the obviously very old seats have huge holes in the fabric, but at least it's a pub with flare instead of a boring sports bar.

Went in with a group of friends for the Monday night fish and chips special. Outstanding Atlantic cod, cooked to perfection. We all (6) enjoyed our meal and Jackie was an excellent server. JJ Ft Myers

For a franchise this isnt bad but still kind of odd. First the food is pretty good, the chicken sandwich and veggie burger were both good as were the fries. The cole slaw was an embarrassment. Most of the menu looked to be Irish with a few random offerings. The beer selection was good as were their drink specials. I liked that there were stained glass partitions and shelves to separate the outside patio seats and the seats on the inside at each window to give you some sense of privacy. The staff was very friendly although the 15 different pens was a little to TGIF for me. As with most corporations you are going to get good average food and that is okay on some days.

Went here for the big St Patrick's Day tent party they do every year. Live bands, fun crowd, great atmosphere. $6 for a beer and mixed drinks. They use the ticketing system to confuse you and try to make you forget how much you are spending! Also, they don't have green beer, which I was glad about as I think it's so gross but I know some people love it. We decided to eat inside the restaurant instead of in the tent, where all they had was gross stadium food. But once we were finally seated (no wait, just unorganized staff) we were informed their credit card machines had been down all night! On St Patricks' Day! And their ATM had been out of service for weeks! Sucked to be them that night I'm sure. We left and went next door to Scotty's, where they were able and happy to take our money.

This was the boyfriend's birthday dinner pick with his family. the food was decent. We had a party of 9 on a Sunday early evening. We had a server that managed to keep up with us on his own, was friendly, the food was not a knock-my-socks-off quality, but its a chain (what?! a chain? in Indy? you are kidding?) so my expectations weren't all that high. It came out to about $30 for the two of us, no drinking with that. He had the stew and seemed pretty happy with it, felt he wouldn't need to eat for days, I had a burger and the pub chips (fry wedges). I was happy they had no problem slitting the check as many ways as we needed, be for warned though- the coupons you can get on restaurants.com are only good for one check per group, even if the group is at another table. It was OK, but nothing to write home about, I guess I will settle for writing yelp about it!

Not bad. But my friend lives around the corner, so we went last month on a weeknight. I hadn't seen this friend in about a year so we were definitely engaged in the catching up talk and apologized to our waitress when she came twice and we didn't know what we wanted (I mean, I'd never BEEN there. lol). The menu was big, but nothing all that exciting. You get your typical Irish selections but the dinners are kinda pricey. So we order. After ordering, we see our waitress maybe three times. After going with empty ice tea cups for about 15 minutes she finally came back and gave us more. I had the onion soup which was pretty good and a sandwich that wasn't memorable. I've heard dessert is the best thing at the Claddagh, but I wouldn't know. Our waitress came by and dropped us our check when we were about to order our apple cobbler dessert. The place wasn't packed so they didn't need the table, she had other tables next to us that were in the middle of their meals, so we definitely weren't the last table in the place. I've worked as a waitress and can't figure out why she dropped us that check when we didn't ask for it unless it's just bad business. We tipped, paid, and went to get icecream instead. Bottom line: Really wasn't all that impressed. It wasn't awful, but I can't stand it when the check is dropped before I'm even asked if I want dessert.

I have mixed feelings about the Claddagh. Usually the food is great, not really hard food to get right. The service can be hit or miss, but more frequently it is just average. They do have some of the best fish and chips in town and great ciders on draft.

My break down of Claddagh Irish Pub: Atmosphere: It's spacious, clean, and pleasant. I like that the tables are spread out so that you have lots of room. Service: Good. We walked in and were soon greeted by the gentleman behind the bar. He said someone would be right with us, but it worked out that he sat us. Our server was a nice woman. Very attentive, and polite. Not pushy nor forgetful. So that's nice. Food: Here's the rub. We went on a Monday night so my friend and I got the buy one get one on the Fish & Chips special. Good deal. For $1.99 more (apiece) we could add a soup or salad. Both of us got Clam Chowder. I don't like soup, except for Clam Chowder. But I shouldn't have assumed that would mean New England Clam Chowder, as I am originally from N.E. and that's all that exists to me. This was either Manhattan style, or pretty similar. I'm not sure what's typical for Irish places, but I was bummed to not get New England style. So we both ate about half by the time our Fish & Chips arrived and were ready to be done with it. The Fish & Chips looked great. And the chips were interesting as they appeared to be homemade, so props for that. Unfortunately I wasn't really a fan of the chips. And the fish looked great, but it just didn't seem to have any taste to it. I'm not sure if I'm just used to a more fried flavor, or salty taste, but this just seemed tasteless.

I've been here twice. Bottom line: beer YES, food, NO. This restaurant has a nice atmosphere with semi-private seating areas, a big party room and of course a bar. Unfortunately I have to give the place two stars. On my first visit I had the Shepherd's Pie and a Guinness, on my second visit I had the Fish and Chips and a Boddingtons. The beer was excellent as I would expect but the food was sub-par in my opinion. For example, the Shepherd's Pie was too meaty and the Fish was waaaaay overdone. It's hard to describe the "Chips", suffice it to say I couldn't stomach more than a couple, maybe it was the seasoning but the fries tasted like old fish. I also tried the fruit and cheese appetizer with crackers but the crackers were so stale we had to send item back. This is a place that I would really like to give 5 stars. The layout and ambience could be a winner but the food drags it down quite a bit. That being said, if you're only interested in having some good Irish beers then this might be the place for you.

Poor Claddagh ... where did you go? Food = no go. Service = so sad. Smell as you walk into the restaurant = NOT the smell a restaurant should have. Something like, fish meet bleach, now mix it up. Oh, I need a moment, but I will continue this later.

This is the place to be on St. Patrick's Day ... no doubt. The lines back up through the parking lot for the hugest tent party and festivities for this festive Irish holiday. Live music, outdoor tent, thousands of friends ... it's the loudest, greatest crowd in the city. But get there early. Like REALLY early. No, seriously. Get there now. It is that popular ... so don't even think about getting a table inside during this party unless you go now. So do it. Go. Now. You won't regret it. Fun times. Great beer. Great food. It's the place to be!

We come here for Trivia Tuesdays fairly often. It's a fun time if you're with 4 or more people... and it helps to be good at trivia (which I'm not). Anyway, we usually just get drinks and appetizers. I'm not really a fan of greasy pub food so I usually just eat before I go out. The bellini-tini ($7.50) is really good. I have also ordered the Chateau Ste. Michelle Reisling ($7) which was not bad.

As far as traditional Irish faire, an amazing beer selection, great whiskey, excellent scotch, and AMAZING food. the people on here who complain about the burgers or not getting service on St. Patty's Day are beyond dumb. Go any time during the week or on the weekend and the staff is amazing, helpful, and generous. The GM and his staff have greeted me by name almost every time I have been in and always make great recommendations for food and drink. Get the bacon and cabbage or fish and chips and you cannot go wrong. The live music on the weekend is a hoot too. This place rocks!
