If you are in downtown Indianapolis and you want something sweet, you absolutely cannot go wrong here. Everything is expertly made, service is friendly and quick. Always a wide variety of things to choose from. I'm waiting until the next time I need a cake and plan to special order it from here...I'm almost thinking about inventing an excuse to "need" a cake. Help me out here...if you're not getting married, it's not a birthday party...what sort of occasion would one order a cake for? "Just because" I want one can't be my only reason, can it?

There is a fantastic documentary out there called Kings of Pastry. Rent it. Great watch. Crazy incredible chronicle of the passion, devotion and sacrifice required in the pursuit of title distinction of 'M.O.F'.-- held every four years--the main protagonist, Jacquy Pffeifer, is a co-founder of Chicago's French Pastry School and has baked for everyone from the Sultan of Brunei to Oprah. So that's where Cindy and her fabulous staff have had their training. So I don't need to tell you about their baked items. Instead I will tell you about her jams. Peach lavender, Blueberry Lemon, Vanilla Fig, Balsamic Strawberry....... I have the pleasure of saying that I very nearly cleared her out of her inventory earlier this summer. Think she might be replenished for winter by now ;) -- would make wonderful holiday gifts and suggest you all get it before I do!! Cindy also puts out an enjoyable weekly newsletter notifying of her popular Beignet days, new products, helpful tips, farmers market schedule, etc. I honestly don't know if she ever sleeps.

Woah. I didn't quite expect this. Take the inventory here, dress it up behind a pretentious chic heavily-français storefront in the highest rent spot you can find in Indy, jack the prices up, and I bet no one would bat an eye. I mean, I've had plenty of things like, I dunno, "raspberry streusel bar". They rarely inspire great analysis. But lemme see, the "raspberry streusel bar" here was just gorgeous: a rich but crumbly streusel topping sticks to a spread of very nicely concentrated semi-tart raspberry paste, beneath which is a denser palate-filling buttery pastry layer, itself atop yet another texture: a perfectly al dente sort of candied butter-sugar bottom crust. That was the second thing I had, just to confirm that we were dealing with fantasticness. Fantasticity. 3 am is the time to write reviews, you see. The first was a cranberry bar that I probably should have chosen as my primary review subject. It began with cream cheese richness which evolved into a sharper cranberry tartness even as the underlying soft-but-crumbly gingerbread-ish pastry began to texturally dominate the palate, and then suddenly What's that? Actual ginger, maybe? Yep, and maybe some other subtle spicing which became the primary focus as I swallowed the thing. And then I was like Gosh, these are some fairly ideal renditions of the whole sugar/flour/fat thing. When each bite presents a dynamic evolution of flavor, you know you've transcended the empty calorie.

First visit ever to the City Market today, and the Circle City Sweets macaroons made the trip worthwhile! A little crunchy/crispy on the outside, crumbly and buttery inside, and the sweet layer of fruit (or caramel, or chocolate ... I tried one of each flavor) ... soooo worthwhile. I'm grateful that I live far, far away from City Market and Circle City Sweets, otherwise I'd be in big trouble. Those macaroons are going to be on my mind.

This is my weak spot. I've had almost everything from here. The bread pudding with the whiskey sauce was to-die-for. A great little place for a lunch break sweet :)

Love it!!! Macarons are the best, but everything else is pretty darn delicious too. The blue cheese and bacon bread makes perfect mini grilled cheese sandwiches. Love the butterscotch brownies, which taste like a mix of fudge and just undercooked brownie. So good!!! Cindy is the owner/baker and she always remembers me. She is very friendly and nice.

Splendid. There's a reason salted caramel items have been on the tip of everybody's tongue for the last two years...and I've had all kinds of sweets of the flavor. This was certainly the best salted caramel macaron I've had and I've tried places ranging from Charleston, SC to Santa Barbara, CA. It was a sad realization that I was 2 hours away when I consumed my last bite and couldn't go back for 10 more. I would have them for dinner regularly if I could.

Something I've really missed moving from the NYC Metro Area to Indy are good quality Macaroons. While there are bakeries that attempt this incredible cookie in our area I hadn't found one that could really do it well. In fact, I learned to make them at home figuring that if I couldn't purchase an amazing one it was best to simply make decent ones at home. Enter Circle City Sweets. They do not keep their stock out and visible so you have to ask for these delightful treats, but these macaroons are the real deal. We purchased 6 while in the City Market on Saturday (Pistachio, Mango Passion Fruit, Raspberry, Rose Vanilla, and two Chocolate) and each one was a delight. Crunchy, melt in your mouth, and incredibly flavorful. These cookies are expensive for a reason. They are incredibly difficult to make and even harder to create at this level of expertise. Thank you Circle City Sweets for going all the way to France to bring this amazing pastry experience to Indy! :)

Cindy knows how to make your mouth water, your tummy satisfied, and your sweet tooth nourished. I remember the first time I ate one of her raspberry bars, whew... It was like none other. I usually share my sweet treats with those around me, and I didn't want to share this one. She cares about her customers and has worked so hard to build her business. Most importantly, she creates beautiful, delightful, tasty pastries. Recently, she began making croissants and beignets. Visit her on a Saturday morning and you'll have the chance to enjoy them when they're still warm. A cup of coffees and an order of beignets is the best way to start a Saturday. Circle City Sweets pastures can be found in coffee shops and restaurants all around the city.

Nobody does butter better! From specialty items like crisp-tender macarons and rich kouign-amanns (say it like "Queen Ah man" and if there's an almond one there, get it!) to seasonally-decorated cookies and glorious caramels, Cindy and her crew have been turning out beautiful and perfectly indulgent sweets for a while. But with the recent addition of a sheeter in her arsenal of baking supplies, you can now get rich, flaky pan au chocolat, danishes and croissants at Circle City Sweets, too. (These are so good that my cat stole a bagged AND wrapped pan au chocolat off our kitchen counter, eating every morsel that was untouched by chocolate.) Beyond the amazing baked goods, I love that Circle City Sweets has chosen to be a part of our City Market's next generation of food vendors AND that they make me feel welcome and valued each time I stop by.

Cindy Hawkins is by far the most amazing baker I have ever had the pleasure of knowing! The SCRAPS she trims off of her cakes are better than anything you'll get elsewhere. I have not had one item from Circle City Sweets that I have not absolutely loved! The wedding cakes that I have seen from Circle City Sweets display a great amount of detail and talent, and most importantly they taste great! Even if you are not a fan of sweets, give Circle City Sweets a try. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Haven't had a chance to try everything I want to at Circle City, but I can recommend their cookies without reservation. If you're downtown and looking for a sweet distraction, you should really check out their selection of fresh-baked packaged cookies. They cookies come two to a pack and run about $2.50. I've had the cherry, chocolate chip, and lemon ginger. All were delicious and generous in size.

Loved the caramels and apple streusel. Would have been a bit better if there was a way to warm it slightly to serve. Still yummy though! Salted caramels are soft and delicious.

Cindy did it once again! I ordered a red velvet cake for someone very special and the cake was awesome!! I highly recommend this bakery, one thing the cream cheese icing is to die for but it won't allow Cindy to be creative with the cake, too soft! Once you try it you'll be hooked!!
