If you are into soccer this is the place to be folks! Great craft beer selection (that frequently changes), great seasonal drink options. Although this place is a bar they have excellent food!...and not just bar food, great salads, chili, and sandwiches! The food is unique with a bit of an Irish/euro flare but nothing too crazy. There is a small outside patio seating area at the back however it fills up quickly, especially if the weather is nice. There are a lot of tables and chairs crammed into a small place so on a busy night you might have to get cozy with the neighboring table. Service is generally pretty good, can be difficult to get a bartenders attention at times if you are sitting at a table and not at the bar. Love Chatham Tap!

I can't believe I've never written (or checked into) Chatham Tap before! The only place to watch local sports and international soccer is Chatham Tap hands down. Great beer rotation on tap, fantastic food quality and menu, and awesome service, no bar delivers the way Chatham does. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Location: 5/5 - The decor is the best, the size is nice and cozy and really inviting and the patio is doggy friendly!!!!

A limerick about why I give Chatham 4 awesome stars: Chatham has Indiana sips So I give them mucho tips. The lights are too dim, And without soccer they're grim, But I live for another side of chips. Eat pizza with toppings galore, Can bring a group of four ...or more! Lots of sports on the tellies, Big portions to fill bellies, And a comedy club next door!

Fruit + cheese + bread + protein = awesome sandwich. Chatham knows how to combine and meld yummy items together. All of their sandwiches are awesome. And they make their own Bloody Mary mix... Great Sunday lunch. Or great anytime. It gets a bit packed but worth the wait.

Okay. Having never been here, I didn't know what to expect. I came extremely hungry and with a full appetite. I strongly considered getting a starter and entree (NOT to be shared). I got the Green Leaf Thai Wraps. Ahhhhhmazing!!! I had them last night and I am dreaming of them all day today, needing my fix. The peanut sauce had just the perfect amount of spicy bite and the chicken had a wonderful sweetness. LOVED! I didn't think it'd fill me up but I never got around to ordering the entree because it was surprisingly filling. I did, however, get to try my friend's spinach artichoke dip with pita chips and it was dangerously delicious. I thought I was dreaming. So good!! I'm gonna try to go back today. #dangerousnewrelationship Also, drink special was really good. (Pictured is Cinnamon Tequila shot.)

Not happy. They added mayo to my pizza and it's not on the menu! I hate mayo and worse yet I hate false advertising. If you're going to put something on a pizza, say so. The waitress was nice and she took the pizza off the bill and the beer was good which is why I give it 3 stars. If you have a food allergy or want to know what is in each meal make sure you ask and they know up front.

If you want to watch a little footie on Saturday/Sunday mornings with a bunch of friends, there's no better place in town. Others have said it on this page, and it's 1000% true. Its sister store in Fishers has more room, assuredly, but the vibe downtown can't be beat! As far as beer selection, you don't get an enormous selection, but you get a varied one: many local selections sit side by side with British stand-bys like Old Speckled Hen and London Pride. Bartenders and servers are top-notch in service. I haven't taken in their food too much, to be honest, but I'd totally recommend the sandwiches. Friends of mine recommend their brunches for the early morning excursions. It is a very packed place, especially when huge derby matches are going on...and in World Cup season, get there EARLY. Set an alarm, or expect to be standing and unable to move. A little more breathing room would highlight their great qualities..but the vibe is still quite nice.

There is not a single item on the menu that isn't amazing. Personal favorites are the fish and chips and the spinach dip, but I have yet to try anything that wasn't tasty and fresh. The beer list is good, the drink specials are great (especially for Mass Ave), and you can't beat the patio on a warm day. My only complaints are the lack of seating and that I can't bring my toddler (which I totally understand, it's not a place for kids), so visits are restricted to the few-and-far-between date nights my hubby and I get!

Food great, lots of beers on tap; service terrible. Our waiter was either staring blankly out the window or taking shots at the bar. We asked for water when our drinks came and are pretty much done with our meal and haven't gotten them.

I've been several times during the week for lunch and on the weekends. I can't say I have ever been disappointed by the food or the service. I'm especially happy with the pizza, try it with feta cheese for an extra outstanding kick to the food. I"m also fond of the fish and chips. If you are a soccer fan, be sure to stop in on Saturdays to watch the EPL league on the pub's several televisions. The atmosphere is good, the food is great and the beer is even better. Go, you won't be disappointed.

Pretty good food. Nothing fancy... Just pure comfort food. Service was great. Waitress was nice and friendly. $10 for a shot of patron was too expensive for a pub. For 4 shots, I'm better off buying a full 750ml bottle at the liquor store.

This is the perfect pub atmosphere. Good beer, good (unhealthy) food, and sports on tv. The menu has a great variety of food options, whether you just want to snack on appetizers or order an actual meal. Everything we tried was delicious (and wonderfully greasy, but it is an English Pub afterall!). The beer selection is great, there is a nice craft selection on tap and then they have a good selection of bottles too. Something for everyone. The service was fine, nothing outstanding, but nothing wrong with it either. Will probably be back for drinks with friends relatively soon.

The service was not good. Drinks were incredibly slow, food even slower. BUT, the food was good and perhaps it was a bad night. The wings are tasty, though not buffalo wings at all, but sweet and spicy. Very tasty and they're about $1 a wing so that's not bad. I also tried the Montauks. I have no idea what this has to do with a native american people, but it was good. Bread, rasher bacon, tomatoes and gouda sauce. It was a little odd, but pretty good stuff to soak up a few beers on a late night. Maybe things will be better next time, or maybe it was just because it was so late. I'll try it again... maybe at dinner time.

Visiting Indy for work and after reading some reviews had to give a go, especially since World Cup is on. So glad I did! Sat at the bar, ordered a 3 Floyds Gumballhead and 1/2 apricot chipotle wings. Dang those were good, meaty, smoked with just a little heat to go with the sweet hint of apricot. House salad was typical, nothing to write home about. Entree was the Salmon sarnie paired with Leek and Potatoe soup. WOW! The salmon had gouda, advocado and a tasty cilantro sauce served on a blackbean and salsa bread. The soup was absolutely perfect and with the football game on I closed my eyes and imagined this is about as close as I'll get to a World Cup match in an English pub. Within moments I met a couple of people and we discussed the games. Total for the meal was a paltry 30$. Can't wait to go back!

Chatham Tap is just another wonderful restaurant/bar located on Mass Ave. I've wanted to go here for a while, but every time I've tried going, it has been packed to capacity. This obviously made me want to try it even more since it's clearly great and people truly enjoy it. The solution to this problem was going there for lunch on a sunny Sunday afternoon. We opted to sit outside in their patio area, comfortably located under an umbrella. We ordered Bloody Marys as they were recommended by one of our companions that is a frequent of the establishment and I was quite impressed by the cocktail. Chatham also has an expansive beer menu with draughts, domestic/micros, and imports. For my meal I ordered the BLT sarnie, or sandwich for us lesser folk. When I ordered, the waiter made sure to get the point across that the bacon was thick cut, Canadian-like bacon. Apparently people are surprised by that and are sometimes unimpressed--how could that be? My superior BLT came with rasher bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo served on crispy toasted parisien bread. The sarnie came with homemade potato chips, coleslaw, or cottage cheese, but I was feeling frisky and subbed French fries for an extra $1.75. It was worth it. The fries were thick, crispy, and tasty. My BLT was around $7. My comrades ordered the hummus plate with pita chips for $7 and the green leaf Thai wraps, consisting of chipotle-apricot chicken with cilantro dressing, green leaf lettuce, and peanut dipping sauce for around $8. Don't be confused when the wraps come out with lettuce instead of bread like my friend thought was going to happen. Despite his complete confusion, he still enjoyed the dish. Definitely don't wait to try Chatham Tap!

This place was pretty cool. It's based of a traditional European pub and it's a nice change from the typical american bars I'm used to frequenting. The food was good. We both got sandwiches which were delicious and were good-sized. They have all kinds of soccer and rugby memorabilia hanging on the walls and TV's everywhere broadcasting games. I keep meaning to go here to watch a good soccer match. I'm sure this place would be pretty wild during a shootout. Overall, it was a good place to try. The food was good and the prices reasonable. I would recommend giving it a try. I will definitely be back.

The black Bean burger is amazing....my friend had a cheeseburger pizza that had mayo on it and was pretty gross. Another of my friends had the Greek chicken sandwich that was dry and not my fave... You CANNOT go wrong with the spinach and artichoke dip!! It's a must try;). We will come bak but we will just try something different next time.

Great sandwiches, not the friendliest service. The salmon sandwich, not-too-mayo-y cole slaw, and good beer selection along with intimate sports pub vibe keep me coming back again!

If you are a soccer fan, I would highly recommend watching a game at this small and cozy English style bar. Oh, and try the wings.

Just went to Chatam Tap for the first time because a friend and I were right down the street and in the mood for a beer. I agree with what Brittany S. said about the atmosphere, this is a very laid back bar which is the kind I enjoy. Great beer local and otherwise. Bonus points: soccer on TV. I can only imagine how awesome this place would be during the World Cup.

Outstanding!!! Get the Robert Browning pizza or the salmon sandwich with onion rings. Top notch. Great beer selection.

  • Molly L.

Good pub food. I LOVE the garlic and cheese chips. They remind me of when I lived in Ireland. Since Indianapolis is still stuck in the Stone Age, it makes me happy that Chatham is non-smoking before 11pm. This place has a pretty good beer selection, too. Overall Chatham is a great stand-by for good, inexpensive food and a pint on Mass Ave.

    portebello fries. make it happen!

This is a nice, friendly bar -- good-looking, good service. The food is very, very average, though. OK, excellent onion rings. Everything else is pretty uninspired. Good place to go hang out with friends, and go ahead and order some food, but don't come with great expectations,

  • Nick C.

I'll have to say this is a nifty little bar. I didn't have any food so no comments on that but I can say the beer selection was great. We also had a great waiter that never let our glass go empty. I'll definitely go back and try the food.

This is one of my regular spots for a lazy afternoon. The semi-bright atmosphere makes Chatham Tap a nice relaxing place to chill out on that random, sunny, Friday you get off from work early and having nothing better to do but sip on a draught beer, munch on some montauks, and read about random stuff in a local newsweekly. Sometimes the service is a bit slow, but I usually don't care because I am rarely in a rush when I am here. Sometimes they can get a bit crowded, but that is usually not during my peak visiting hours. When it is crowded it can be a bit annoying as the tables are pretty close, and the place can get too loud to have a decent conversation. The food is above average. The montauks as I mentioned above are one of my favorite appetizers. Bread baked with gouda and rasher bacon... I don't even know what the sauce really is, but it's great. The garlic and cheese chips are a recent discovery and pretty much blew my mind even if the creamy garlic sauce does get a bit overwhelming by the time one gets to the bottom of the plate. Most of their appetizers are, umm, quite appetizing. The sandwiches I've had including the garlic tenderloin have all been good. The pizzas get thumbs up from me as well. The Meaty Kuzola pizza is a new fave when looking for a pork overdose. The beer selection is good and includes plenty of craft selections which is a plus for me. They have daily drink specials such as $3 gin drinks on Fridays and some sort of beer special most days. Now if I just gave a crap about soccer....

first place i ate at in Indy during my first visit to the city, back in 2008. my first meal there consisted of fried pickles, something i never really thought i'd ever eat in my life. i'm glad i did, and i'm glad i did it at this place.

    (5)
  • JR W.

their house specialty, the fish and chips, had a soggy, greasy batter. the fried pickles were good though. lots of flat screens but a bit crowded.

    (2)
  • Chip M.

Fish n chips came highly rated. I was not Impressed very small pieces of fish surrounded by way to much breading. Batter was still mushy inside and it was horribly greasy. Claduaugha's is much better no question about it. It's actually a lg filet vs strips at Chatham. Disappointed. Service was ok. I personally would not return. Sorry

Favorite sports bar on Mass Ave! Laid back fans, great food (try the rasher bacon), and best Guinness build in the neighborhood!

The Food: Amazing. We always get the breadsticks which I would argue are easily the best in Indianapolis (try all three sauces!!!), after that my husband loves the Steak Sandwich, it's an open-faced sandwich with a 4oz steak, a fried egg, pepper jack cheese and all the trimmings. Their chips are homemade and have Old Bay on them, and the seasoned fries are super yummy. I love the Apple Gouda sandwich that has cinnamon. Literally everything we have tried here has been phenomenal. They also have a fantastic beer selection featuring lots of local brews as well as a large selection on tap as well as a full bar. The Atmosphere: PHENOMENAL. I always feel like I'm back in England at a pub watching the football games. They open super early for "soccer" games and serve breakfast during these hours which is amazing. It's a smaller bar and can get pretty packed during games but it is super fun! The Service: Has been unfortunately hit or miss. We have had good service and we had had pretty terrible service, thus only four stars. I understand that you open early, but if you open then your service should still be up to par. For example, we have had that waiter that is super attentive and eager to please and offer great food recommendations, and we have had waiters who practically forget about you, botch your order, eat in the corner during their shift while neglecting patrons, seem to be on drugs and are too busy watching the games rather than doing their jobs. All in all I absolutely love this place, I just wish their service would be more consistently good. For now it's the only real soccer bar in the city and the food is unbelievable so we will continue going until one of those things change.

Cool bar, GREAT beer selection, and solid (much better than your typical bar food) food. Chatham Tap has a European flair to it, and as such, you'll usually find soccer being played on their tv's (just a note in case you're hoping to be immersed in American football--though they'll show some of that too.)

I really wanted to rate this place much better. My girlfriend and I went on a Friday before a concert, so it was rather busy. We found a table just in time, about 5 minutes after we arrived there was a line out the door of people waiting to sit. Given it was a busy Friday night (during March Madness no less), one would think the bar would anticipate extra crowds and staff accordingly? Ehh, I guess not. It took about 10 minutes to get a drink order, and then another 10 minutes to get a food order. My friend ordered a local draft and when it arrived it came with a free insect. Luckily it was ONLY a fly and not a roach, but still... Ick! The waitress didn't seem too surprised (as if this happens regularly), and brought a replacement. My drink was protein free so no complaints on my end. The food came out in decent time, but we kept having about 3-4 of those little flies swooping around our food. It's March and cold, where are the bugs coming from? I have serious concerns about the cleanliness of this place. The food was good, I got the Englishman in Italy and was happy with it. They have some great looking food on the menu. My fries were those "Rally's" type seasoned fries, and I didn't care for them. My friend had a grilled fish sandwhich that she said was very good. In the end, due to the lack of staffing and extra insects with our beverages, I could only give Chathan Tap two stars. I will try again, as it was an interesting bar, with a nice atmosphere.

The cutest little bar in Indy. The bartender we had was awesome and friendly, and they have a great drink menu. We just came for drinks, but I'll definitely be back for food. The atmosphere is just so inviting and perfect!

One of my favorite places period. I come here at least 3-4 times a month, sometimes more. Their fish and chips, black and bleu burger, and pizza is all amazing. I usually go with the pizza, as it is some of my favorite (highly recommend the meaty Kuzola). The crust is a little thicker than typical New York style and it is pretty garlicky. I have had people tell me there is a bit too much garlic, but I friggin' love it. The prices are also very reasonable. As a soccer player, the environment does not get any better. Team kits and scarves make up the majority of the decoration. They play EPL and Champions League matches and you'll find a decent amount of people go to watch the matches, so you'll find like minded people there if you're into it. Most of the time, the service is pretty good, but I have had a few less than steller servers - this is bound to happen given how often I go there.

    (5)
  • Steve W.

Service was EXTREMELY slow at lunch. The food was above average and the prices were good (less than $15 with tip for a sandwich and fries).

  • Kinsey C.

I came here on a Sunday afternoon looking for a quick bite to eat with family from out of town. We walked in and had to seat ourselves (no biggie) and wait for our server to greet us and bring menus. One thing I noticed was that our server never said hello, introduced himself or even welcome us to Chatham Tap. It was more like here-are-your-menus-what-do-want-to-drink? The service was pretty lousy. My drink was often empty, and he didn't stop by much to inquire about our meal. However, the food was great so I can't ding the place too much. It semed like maybe our server was just having a bad day. Word of advice: start with an order of the garlic cheese fries. Oh my gosh, are these things good! Garlic fries with ranch, cheese and chives. AWESOMENESS. I'd come back here just as an excuse to order these. I also ordered the breaded tenderloin and thought it was excellent as well. I loved how the tenderloain patty wasn't three times the size of the bun like it is most places (I have never understood that!). It was cooked well and I really enjoyd it. My boyfriend ordered the St. George Philly and he demolsihed it, along with the chips served on the side. They have a full bar and a good selection of beers which I will try next time I come back. All in all: The food is good, location is great, but the service could be much better! This place seems like the place in Indy to watch a soccer game!

    (4)
  • James S.

Gooooooaaaaallll! In spite of the soccer crowd, the food here is very good. Gorganzola with pear is good, salmon is better. Cool little bar with nice servers, decent drinks.

I can't go to Chatham without getting their fish and chips. It's the best I've had in the city! CT is a great place to go and watch sports, have a great beer selection, and not be overwhelmed by everything that's going on. I also appreciate when a soccer game is on because everyone in the pub is there to watch the game and I can't help but get into it as well!

    (4)
  • Sara B.

I love pubs and pub food and this is the best place in Indy. The atmosphere is great and food is excellent. I can't wait to go back.

    (5)
  • Dakota D.

If you are a futbol fan this is your spot. They always open up for the EPL opener - so if I am in town for GenCon I catch the Man Utd season opener here, they have a good beer list, the food is what you expect for a British Pub - and the bartender is usually cool If it is an early kickoff they don't always serve right away, but if you call ahead they will be open

    (4)
  • Elisha V.

The food was pretty bland. I would recommend coming here for the craft beer, but definitely not the food. The pizza was undercooked with spinach leaves just loosely thrown on top. The iced tea was ridiculously strong and as dark as my friend's coke. Our waiter didn't check on us except for when he took our order and brought us the food.

    (2)
  • Ron S.

As a futbol fan (born in England and somehow found my way to the Midwest), there is no place in Indy that approximates the english pub feel like this. Look at all the Prem league soccer scarves on the wall to know that this is THE place to catch an EPL game on a Saturday morning. It's a distinctly weird feeling to have all these drunk peeps on a Saturday morning with all these families walking around mass ave but that's what being a soccer fan in the states is all about.... Anyways, the beer selection is great and one of the few places where I know I can get a Fuller's in Indy. The fish n chips and wings are some of my favorites in Indy and something you must try. The pizza here is another surprisingly good option. I'm suprised by the quality of food here. I feel as though this place is awkwardly arranged in terms of television placement and tables but it's not a huge deal. You come here to get yourself bladdered and subsequently knackered.

    (4)
  • Jenna L.

Love the wings and fish and chips. Great small place...cozy. Laid back bar vibe.

    (5)
  • Doug O.

Most of my experiences at this bar start at 8 AM, so this review might not apply to everyone, but if you're a Premier League soccer fan, this is THE place to be. They've got the games on, and the staff is knowledgeable and chatty about them. The food is really good, and they have a nice beer list, balancing English favorites with craft and local options. I could watch every game there.

    (5)
  • Doug H.

I find myself here every couple weeks. It is the only acceptable place downtown to watch a soccer game. The beer selection is good, plenty of European and craft brews. The wings are fantastic, best I have had in Indy. Fish and chips are really good as well. One gripe is that I went to chatham for the Olympic gold metal game and they were closed, even though they had told me they would be open for it the day before.

  • Heather H.

This is pretty much my favorite Mass Ave watering hole. Sitting on their back patio with a beer in my hand is really one of my ideal ways to spend a summer evening. And the food...the food!!! I would say this is, hands down, the best pub food in town. From the apple gouda sandwich to the strawberry walnut salad to the spinach artichoke dip, this food is killer. Oh, and the heart slowing garlic cheese fries are beyond amazing. They have good drink specials throughout the week (last night, Wed, was $1 off Sunking drafts), and a good draft and bottled beer selection. I dig the ambiance here. It's very laid back, and they pull off the English pub bit without being pretentious about it. The one thing I'm not a huge fan of are the unisex bathrooms - sorry boys, I just don't like sharing.

    (5)
  • Mak J.

The pizza is good. Arguably better than Bazbeaux. Yeah, I said it. Love that they have IPAs on tap and the cheese fries are satanically good. Love the Montauks as a brunch type dish. The service is amazing. A+. One of my favorite places downtown.

  • Jackie P.

One of my absolute favorite places. If you can, sit at the bar when Jess is the bartender. She's one of the best servers I've ever had. As for the food, Chatham Tap offers a variety of great choices, but my favorite is the smoked gouda apple melt. Amazing flavors. Add rasher bacon, you will thank me later. Their house-made potato chips are also top of the line. All-around great establishment, we frequent about once a week. Great place to watch sports, and a great pub atmosphere.

I forgot about this place for a while, my first visit being unmemorable. I don't remember why it was unmemorable, but holy crap I'm glad I gave it a second chance. When you think "English Pub", vegetarian fare doesn't usually come to mind. But they have options, and plenty of them. Chatham Tap is officially my new go-to place for lunch with veggie friends. I had the pesto sandwich, and swapped the mozzarella for avocado - what a treat! It was a little oily, but pesto usually is. The mushrooms were cooked perfectly, the spinach piled high, the avocado fresh. The fries were large, nice & crunchy - just like I like them. The sandwich was plated with slices of pears & apples which was beyond awesome & unexpected. I can't wait to go back and try the pear & apple melts, and the portabella mushroom fries. In fact, I have a lunch meeting next week and I hope I can convince my party to meet me there!

I really like coming to Chatham when I'm in need of a good pint, a soccer game, and some flippin' awesome nachos. It's a go-to spot of mine for nachos..om nom nom. My hubby and I will split them and they are great as a meal. Delicious and piled high with all sorts of yummys with amazing chips on the bottom, it serves as comfort food for me. They always have seasonal brews and they have local drafts, which I am all over. I appreciate the opportunity to come in and hang out watching a soccer game on Sunday. It's a good spot and the patio out back is great. I definitely recommend coming here and hit it up on St. Patty's...you will not be disappointed.

  • Jenny S.

My absolute favorite bar on Mass Ave. Love the decor, they have great beers on tap with a lineup that changes every week or so. Look for the drink specials every day of the week. A great place to watch a game, although can be slightly crowded at times. The food is better than typical bar food-- every sandwich I've had has been amazing. Kitchen open late night so if you're looking for a pizza fix, this is definitely the place!

So someone really awesome told me to put Guinness in my next Bloody Mary but I can't remember who it was, well... thank you! That dollop of Guinness in the bloody Mary just changed everything. Kind guy behind the bar was up for it, I went for it, and it's totally better -- richer, thicker, lasts longer. I've been coming here on Sundays with my LP, and it's just too damn relaxing and an environment to hold open, long conversations to resist. The smoke free environment really puts us at ease, the laid back staff, ahem... the very attentive laid back staff is rad, as they are also open for conversation (I get a bit chatty at times ya see...) Their nachos are nuts. Chips matter and their chips have girth and the strength to prop up the guac-cheese-chicken trinity. And, well this whole start Sundays with a bloody mary and nachos may seem on the surface of things a death warrant -- when in fact, it's just the beginning. Note: Another solid place to play bananagrams!

Indoors, outdoors, for food, or for drinks: Chatham Tap does it all. I have been here many times for dining and many times just for drinking and have never been disappointed. They have several vegetarian options and a great beer list. They tend to be pretty busy most of the time, so be patient if you don't find a seat right away. One will open up and it will be worth the wait. Because they are busy, the servers tend to be busy as well. They might not always see you if you are in need of something in between their normal rounds to your table, so if you need something during that time, nicely try to get their attention. That being said, between their normal rounds to your table, unless you are chugging, you most likely won't be on empty in your beer before you see them again. The garlic cheddar fries are pretty damn delicious and you can never go wrong with their homemade black bean burger.

A SMOKE FREE (except for the patio) pub in Indy! I love Chatham Tap for the food, the decor, the booze, the music they pipe in, and the fact that my throat doesn't hurt from smoke inhalation if I spend 3 hours here. This bar is really tight on space, but I think for the most part it adds to the atmosphere. Oftentimes there will be a single table of unaware douchebags, but they provide comic relief so I can take it. Service is pretty quick and the servers are friendly. They serve a really nice selection of unique pizzas, and I love that the late night menu include Montauks. I adore ham, cheese, balsamic, and basil so I can't go wrong with these little open-faced things. Lots of good apps and creative sandwiches too. Specials on British pints on certain nights of the week.

Stopped for a quick lunch while antique shopping. The waitress was prompt and took our orders right away. We both ordered the house special - fish and chips. The full order gets you 8 or 10 strips on top of a pile of fries for less than $10. Everything was delicious. We were in and out in 35 minutes. The bar and restaurant is a nice size, and there was care to control the noise level, as evidenced by the dampers installed all over the ceiling. Much appreciated with the sound of tvs playing tennis, cricket and soccer, patrons eating, drinking and chatting, and tables being served and cleaned. There is outdoor dining in the back patio. There is also a very nice and clean bathroom around the back of the bar near the rear exit. Very nice establishment.

The beer selection is definitely above average, especially with the collection of local beers they keep around. Food quality is pretty standard, and selection is regular pub fare. Don't look to be blown away, but look to have a good time with some solid eats.

Since moving away from Indiana, I have only dined at Chatham Tap twice -- but have been impressed both times. CT probably deserves a bit higher rating than 3 stars, but given that my two visits were spaced by four years, this rating seems adequate. Traditional English pub food with a ridiculously long menu; I settled on fish and chips after not being able to narrow down about 10 solid choices. The beer selection is excellent and two large TVs in the main bar area make it a decent spot to watch a game, provided you are facing the screens. Kudos to our waiter, who was attentive, quick with suggestions and refills, and genuinely kind. The only thing that knocks the rating down is the volume. It's incredibly loud and difficult to have a normal conversation without feeling like you're screaming at your table-mates. Of course, I went on Friday evening both times; I'm sure it is probably easier to hear on a weeknight. If I still lived in Indianapolis I am sure I'd be a regular here and that rating would jump.

Crazy concept here: It's a sports pub in Indy except wait for it... this one features football (well soccer). CT throws some football scarves up on the wall, puts a mediocre fish and chips on the confused menu, and abracadabra! It's just like being in the UK. I might prefer a box of Gorton's fish from the grocer than the quadruple breaded and triple fried stuff on the plate. Where's the fish? However, the portion was huge. It has a weird feel because they really want to be pretentious for some reason. I am a sports pub kind of guy and actually I do like soccer too, but I was not down with the lipstick on a pig, window-dressing, that is the Chatham Tap. They seem to try to appeal to the standard pizza and wings sportspub people while trying to be something unique at the same time. They miss the mark on both counts. Pick one and do it well. It saddens me that this passes as a popular anchor location on the "eclectic" Mass Ave.

This place has totally accomplished its goal of being a warm, friendly place to take down a few pints with friends. Great beer selection and my dining companions and I enjoyed our meals very much -- it's uncommonly good pub food. My fish and chips, especially, were delicious!

Chatham tap is one of my usual places to eat when I'm in the Mass Ave. area of Indianapolis. The Atmosphere of the place is very English pub like. with lots of craft beers from which to select. The place is covered in TV sets and visitors can catch the current game on any one of them. However, If the EPL (English Premier League) or the UEFA champions league is playing a soccer game then it is sure to be available on one of the screen. The Pub even opens early on Saturdays and Sundays to show English football. About the food all I can say is that they have some of the best fish and chips around. The batter is not too heavy and you can really taste the fish. The chips are crispy and the seasoning they put on them is very tasty. I can never bring myself to try any of the other things on the menu which i suspect are equally as delicious because the fish and chips are so good. Another plus is that my server recognized me from previous visits and I think, besides my beer selection which depend on whats on tap, she knew ahead of time what I was going to order. She was very friendly and very efficient. The only minor criticism I would say is that the Pub is dark. It was sometimes hard to read the menu, but this is probably to be expected in a pub setting so i might be picking at nits. All in all this is one of my favorite haunts and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I got the pear and Gorgonzola sammie. It was okay. The thinly sliced ham that was on it didn't have enough umph to stand out. The Gorgonzola overpowered the ripened pear slices. I also got the steak sammie. Although I was excited to get my fave cut (the rib-eye), it wasn't the experience I thought I'd get. It wasn't tender at all; it had too much gristle. The horseradish mayo was more appealing than the steak :-/

As we were waiting on our order to come out, we immediately regretted what we had requested. The most beautiful plate of wings went to the table next to us and we both started to drool. I was really disappointed in what I ordered. The salmon salad has a poppy seed dressing that is completely overwhelming. There were so many seeds that I wouldn't even call it a dressing. The salmon was okay after I scraped off the poppy seeds. My boyfriend got a burger and said it was decent. We've decided we'll give this place another try though. I'm looking forward to those scrumptious wings!

If you want beer and something healthy to eat (really, beer and HEALTHY food? Yes, please)- Go here. There aren't only healthy choices on the menu, but there are plenty to choose from, including vegetarian fare. The hummus is pretty tasty. The pita chips are hard (I think they fry or bake them in oil?). There's non-healthy stuff, too if you want to clog your arteries while you intoxicate yourself. I had a couple black and tans on "special" for $4. I wonder what the non-special price is- $6? Hmm. I really like sitting outside- There is a patio out back (kind of in the side alley, which I actually kind of like)- You can sit out there. Some people smoke out there because there is no smoking inside, so that might be a plus for many. Sometimes in the summer, you might find some corn hole happening. You might want to be aware of when you're coming. If there's a major soccer game going down, the place will probably be packed.

The Chatham Tap always has a decent beer selection and they've been bringing in more local brews and the kitchen is open pretty late (which are both much appreciated). If you can grab a seat, its a great place to catch up with a couple friends. Difficult to meet up with more than a handful of people though. All of the food that I've tried has been pretty good but The Lord Browning pizza is freaking delicious! If you like pepperoni and tangy sauce, try it my friend! The prices are a little rough on the wallet but I guess for the location its not too bad. Atmosphere feels like you could've walked into a pub in London for the most part - aka servers are nice but not too nice - probably because they are always very busy. I'll be back often!

Pleasant bar to sit in, casual, alluding to be British, but failed on that part. A sausage sandwich was on offer and the mandatory fish and chips but that was all. Fruit crumble for pudding but no custard or cream, WTF, they offered me half and half. Did manage to get a nice cup of tea, and my rueben sandwich was OK though a little meagre. All cheaply priced, lunch for two $24.00

Recently stopped in for a casual lunch with some family and wasn't quite sure what to expect from an English pub. However, we were pretty satisfied with our selections and would certainly stop in again if we were ever in the area. Ambiance: Very open with quite a few tables. There are numerous tv's around the bar and dining area which are tuned in to whatever football (soccer) game is on. Definitely the type of place to kick back and enjoy a beer or two. Service: Our waitress was ok. She got our orders right but generally seemed as though she didn't really want to be there. Not that I can really blame her... Food: I didn't have very high expectations coming in, but overall the food was better than it needed to be. The menu is suprisingly large and everything we ordered was fresh and well prepared. My husband ordered the Smoked Gouda Apple Melt which was fantastic and my veggie sandwich was simple but very good with ample toppings. We also tried an order of the breadsticks with both the cheese and marinara sauce and were quite pleased with our selection. Prices: Almost everything was under $10 which is more than reasonable.

Had friends in town for yesterday's game. Decided I wanted to take them here after. Checked online says they're open til three. Drive down place looks empty. My bf goes in to see if they are open and they say no we decided to close early.... three hours early. Great food but I don't appreciate false advertising, if the website says until three, the door says until three stay open until three. Very disappointed.

I have come here several times, and more often than not leave disappointed. I keep coming back because of the one or two times that really impressed me. The daily drink specials are great, and the food selection is pretty impressive for a pub. The service is what really keeps me from coming very often. Every time I feel as if I am willing to try it out again I get burned. On my last attempt I found a table situated right by the bar expecting this proximity to allow faster recognition and service. However, after waiting several minutes my friend and I decided to get up to try our hand at the bar. Upon getting the bartenders attention he told us that if we had a table we needed to wait for a waiter. We explained our plight, and he said a waiter would be right there. A moment passed, and she finally arrived. Much to our chagrin she looked as if we had just insulted her mother. She gruffly took our order, and came back a few minutes later with our drinks. The beers were great, but the cocktails were weak by any standards. We asked for the tab, and quickly finished our drinks so we could get out and head to more pleasant locations.

I love, adore, worship, revere, cherish.......you get the idea. I like this place a lot. A great british restaurant/pub atmosphere complete with televised rugby matches. Extra bonus for being an over-21 AND non-smoking pub. Excellent beer list on draft and in bottles. Great daily drink specials. A kick-ass spicy bloody mary served with a garnish of green olives. Friendly servers and great service. A nice outdoor patio area. Seems like I'm forgetting something............. Oh, the food. OMG the food! Everything that comes out of that hidden kitchen is special. I swear Julia F Childs reincarnated is down in that kitchen. Besides the greatness of every menu item, the menu itself offers so many unique dishes. Tapenade appetizer? Bring it on! Nachos with a homemade guacamole/hummus mix? Heck yeah! Prince Dean's Angel Wings? The name is not only fitting but these are the best wings in town. And then there are the sandwiches all made with a variety of fresh artisan breads and filled with classy ingredients like pears or smoked Gouda or pesto, etc etc. Every single sandwich is perfect. The Salmon Sandwich with salad greens, Gouda, avocado, cilantro sauce and served on black bean & salsa bread is awesome. The St. George's Philly with corned beef, sautéed onions, topped with creamy mozzarella & dill mayo pairs well with a cold pint. The Garlic Pork Tenderloin sandwich is really one of a kind. Also, their burgers are really tasty and I think stand up to any of the joints in town that specialize in burgers. Don't forget to add some rasher bacon to that burger. Not to sound redundant, but I think their pizzas definitely stand up to any pizza joint in town. The crust is chewy with big air bubble pockets. They have several specialty pizzas on the menu but also offer build-your-own. Where in the heck can you get a Reuben pizza complete with all Reuben sandwich ingredients? Or, my favorite, the Lord Byron pizza with feta cheese, lemon zest, and mixed peppers with hummus as the base. I've been wanting to write a Yelp review for Chatham for a long time but I knew that I just wouldn't do it justice, which I know I haven't, but I really needed to write this.

This is a great lil pub in the Mass Ave district. Because of this place I discovered the most delicious beer - Hobgoblin (or as I like to call it, Hobby Gob). Thursday is English pint night. I am a big fan of the food. My standard go-to is the pesto sammich with a side of seasoned fries. If this says anything abut the sandwich . . . .I'm not a vegetarian! Also, each year after attending Carb Day I find my way Chatham and indulge with the heart stopper burger. With rasher bacon, copious amounts of cheese mayo, and a fried egg, the heart stopper truly is a heart attack waiting to happen. And let me tell you, its TOTALLY worth it. If you are in the mood for pizza Chatham also has some creative options. I recommend the cheeseburger pizza or the Robert Browning. Generally the staff is great (shout out to Megan, Jenni and Andrew - staples of the establishment) but on occasion I've gotten some weird attitude from some of the servers. Note - this place is constantly packed so please, please, please don't come here with your large horde of groupies!

I LOVE this place. Every item on the menu is amazing (the hot wings are unlike any I've ever tasted). My favorite time to go is Sunday afternoons, as it's a little calmer and you can enjoy some time with friends. I was so excited when they finally added Magners to the tap. Sooo good. If you haven't tried this place out yet, it's a must! Plus, you can just stroll on down to Yogulatte for some awesome dessert. Another great MassAve establishment.

Fun dive atmosphere but with a touch of class! They will put on any game you want and serve you amazing food as well as craft and domestic beers. It's a smaller establishment and can get bust within a matter of minutes. This a place you must visit when in Indy!

Easily one of my favorite bar/pubs in Indianapolis. If you like soccer, you'll love this place. They have multiple TV's with all the games and even open early for some matches. The food is great. Get the wings! Oh man they are so good. This is the kind of place that you don't want to come to if you are rushed. It's not because the wait staff or kitchen are slow - they are both excellent. This is just the kind of place you want to sit back, relax and enjoy the everything from the sports, to the drinks, to the great pub fare.

My boyfriend is a regular here- I'm not sure if it was the soccer games or the atmosphere that drew him here first, but he's stayed. And I like it too. Hell, even my mom likes it. They have a good range of beers on tap, several wine selections, and most importantly to me, several vegetarian food options. The veggie sandwich is delicious, as is the candied-walnut-and-apple-vinegarette salad, the hummus, the spinach-artichoke dip, and the nachos. It can be crowded and drafty, but the servers are friendly, the crowd is convivial, and the menu is great. The back patio is a nice addition on warm nights. If you're looking for a relaxed place to eat and drink on Mass. Ave., definitely try Chatham Tap.

I consider this my go-to bar downtown...actually in the whole city. The food in my opinion is very reasonably priced for what you get. There is a good selection of meatless options...try the veggie Montauks and the handmade blackbean burger. The pizza is delicious as well. There is always a solid craft beer selection. I have never been there when there are less than 2 taps with Bell's and 2 of Sun King. I am the first to enjoy a cold can of Pabst, however I only drink craft beer here. The waiters, waitresses and bartenders are super nice people. It is smoke free, which is ALWAYS a plus. There are enough tvs to go accommodate sports fans. The only frustrating thing is it being crowded on Friday and Saturday nights. However, if you wait until after 10, things settle down. There is also a great back porch and ample bike parking out front off the Cultural Trail.

This is becoming our new late night delicious spot. I am giving the food 5 stars and the overall 4 stars. It can be so loud that it's hard to have a conversation. Also not a great spot for Fri/Sat unless you like to be wedged up on top of others and you also happen to have ear plugs on your person. Servers are really friendly and service is quick. Love the hidden patio for a late night in the cool breeze and a good beer. A variety of local and import beers (and a cider) on draft and a drink special every day. I'm usually ordering from the late night menu, which includes the apps and pizzas. The spinach and artichoke dip with pita chips is the best I have ever had. Super creamy and full of cheesy goodness. Oh and there are some veggies in it, probably spinach and artichokes, whatever. The wings are phenomenal! Super meaty and the sauce is perfection. The garlic cheese fries aka crack fries are addictive! Olive tapenade = yummy in my tummy, My hands down fav pizza is the Robert Browning. Meats, banana peppers, cheese, covered in spring mix and italian dressing. When you feel compelled to eat a salad, but you really want pizza. I have 2 words Flippin Delicious!

I love, LOVE this bar. They have great food, excellent guest taps, and usually a great staff. However, until the obnoxious bartender who does shots while on the job leaves, I won't be going there. Bummer that one person's attitude can completely change the way I feel about an otherwise perfect neighborhood bar.

  • Lindsay P.

Food/beer/ambience is 5 stars, but I'm giving it 4 due to the availability of tables on weekends. Everyone loves this place which is why it's always hard to roll in with a group of people larger than 4 (which is typical of most bars on Mass Ave). Spin and artichoke dip and the wings are amongst my favorites on their menu.

    (4)
  • Jennifer N.

This is the place to catch some footie and have a brew. 95% of the time the service is wonderful, especially if you grab a spot at the bar, but even at it's worst I've never had anywhere near a bad experience - at least nothing to keep me away. The food is delicious; pizza, breadsticks, spinach dip...yum yum eat 'em up. And there's an extensive beer list from locals and seasonals to the "I've never heard of that" ones. In the warmer months you can sit outside in the back and watch the bikers/walkers go by. Love the atmosphere. Love the place.

This has been a regular spot of mine for the past 6 months, but I've been patronizing since day one. I'm pretty sure I'm addicted to the garlic cheese fries! Their line-up of craft beers never disappoints and their patio is one of the better hidden spots downtown. This is a great spot to catch just about any sporting event, just be weary of Fri/Sat nights.. it can be packed and full of unsavory people!

Chatham perfectly blends the art of the resto pub. they have a terrific space, and make the most of it. This review is for Easter evening dinner. Large space with a large bar, patio seating in the back. Smoking permitted on the patio. Had the Earl's club sandwich which was excellent. Sandwiches are all served on premium bread (ciabatta in the case of the Earl's). Wisely served mayo on the side, and the fifth star is for serving slivers of apple and pear as garnish. Goes great with beer, and great with the sandwich. Well done. Fries were also good. Mom was served a heap of onion rings. Now, she's definitely not what you'd call an onion ring kinda mom, but she engorged them to the last one. Indication that they were the stuff. Very reasonable prices. English Premier soccer playing on an array of well placed hi-def plasmas. Portrait of Churchill greets you at the entrance. Classic rock at acceptable volume in the background. A very broad and ranging selection of beer focusing on Brit brews, but also regional selections from IL, MI, and IN. I had the Sun King ESB (IN). Not a favorite, but flavorful. I commend Chatham for having local draught brew. I would recommend that they include the amount of alcohol content for each beer on the menu. Very helpful. Given the selection of bars, clubs, and such on Mass Ave., I think Chatham is the pick. Well done to the server dude with crazy tall hair. I'll be back to Chatham when I'm back in Indy.

Chatham Tap is my favorite place to grab a bite to eat on Mass Ave. The service is typically great (unless the guy with the mohawk is your server) and their selection of beer is fantastic. Try the nachos or the pear & Gorgonzola melt!

Love Chatham Tap! Wish I could go here more often. Anytime we have a babysitter I try and go here. The beer is fantastic! And the food is so good. I love, love, love their bread sticks and as a connoisseur of bread sticks this is saying a lot. Also, they have a lot of soccer (football) on for anyone who is a big fan. One of my most favorite bars in Indy.

Stopped in here the other day and was completely ignored for a good 10-15 minutes. The place wasn't even that busy; four or five tables were unoccupied. There were probably five or six staff just milling around scratching their collective asses. I finally got up and left. The burger and fish 'n' chips have been good in previous visits, but I don't know if I can say they're worth enduring the poor service for. I might give them one more try, but there are so many other places that are far more welcoming.

Service is a little slower than at comparable restaurants, but if you know that going in, you can plan to relax and enjoy the experience. The few vegetarian options are delicious! The pesto sandwich is top notch. Tip about patio seating: You can smell the public art (Chatham Passage - indyculturaltrail.org/ch… ) on the Cultural Trail from the patio. The rose smell almost ruins a meal. The patio is best enjoyed for drinks only.

My boyfriend lives in Indy and this is the first place we go whenever I visit. The atmosphere is great and the food is delicious. Some of the best wings Ive had anywhere. the food is reasonably priced and not everythig on the menu is typical bar food. Ive had the salad as well as thai chicken wraps and they were equally delicious. They also carry a wide array of veggie options. Always seem to have great beers on tap. One of the only soccer bars Ive seen downtown. Definitely a fav.

I am not a huge fan of "pub food" but Chatham Tap has enough variety in the menu that when I feel like eating something marginally healthy (about half the time), I actually have some real options to choose. I literally eat at the Tap 3-4 times a week (its the place that everyone at my work can agree on) and I have never had a bad experience. I am a huge soccer fan so I appreciate the fact that I can go someone in the city and actually watch the games "live". Plus, it is funny to see the look on people's faces who walk in expecting a sports bar and can't believe that the place is filled with soccer fans (yes, they do exist in the United States and our numbers are growing). I left my laptop bag here once as well on accident and the servers immediately put it behind the bar and secured it for me so I appreciate their genuine concern and attention to detail. When I am feeling unhealthy, I'll go with the burger or the reuben (light on the cheese). On days where I am counting calories, I elect to go with either the hummus or the side salad so I don't have to engage in self-flagellation when I count my calories at the end of the day. Really the only thing negative that I have to say about the whole place is that the owner through some misguided choice in life is apparently a Manchester United fan. Since this is beyond my rational ability to process, I choose to engage instead in a healthy amount of denial when frequenting his establishment (the fact that he isn't obnoxious about it helps a lot too since he is apparently a better man than I).

I can't even count the number of times I've been to this place. It's been close to home for me for the last three years, and I know I've been there as many as 4 times a week. It's the place where everyone knows my name. Therefore, I am biased and won't give it less than 5 stars. That being said... Nearly everything you can order here is well done. The pizza is what everyone talks about, and for good reason. They have lots of unique toppings which are great (save the Lord Byron - it's the only bad thing on the menu). But, if you really want to know why I think it has the best pizza in the city, get the Meaty Kuzula - lots of meat with a killer red sauce - or make your own with tomatoes, basil pesto, and mozzarella all on a delightfully chewy and crisp crust. Their wings with angel sauce are also among the best wings I've ever had, and there is an off-menu bbq chicken pizza with this sauce worth a try. I will also assure you that everything else on the menu is great too. My personal favorite is the Englishman in Italy with onion rings. The only other thing I would avoid is the Fish & Chips. You can do much better elsewhere regardless of the British feel of this pub. The service will range from perfect to average depending on your server. And, it used to take a bit to get your food, but that's improved a lot over the last year. It is primarily a sports bar specializing in soccer. The World Cup and UEFA Cup draw big crowds. And, there are plenty of TV's to catch whatever sporting event you want to see. Otherwise though, it's a great neighborhood spot with friendly regulars.

THANK YOU FOR BEING NON-SMOKING BEFORE 11PM! This is a great neighborhood pub. The perfect place to watch a game, drink some beers and chow on some interesting food. I don't eat meat so I haven't tried some of the more overtly English dishes, but I have tried the fish and chips and it is spot on. The salads are also quite good and they have a nice variety to choose from. My favorite thing to order is the garlic chips which are ridiculously good and a salad so that I don't hate myself so much for eating the chips. Mmm. The bartenders are also very friendly which is also a plus. Don't just come for the drinks though, check out the menu.

Get a Robert Browning pizza. It is awesome. This is the place to watch real futbol, and I make sure I'm the house as much as possible when my team is playing. Man U. fan. Sorry everyone else :(. The wings are incredible as well. Right spices, nice sweetness. Also, a superb beer selection!

Chatham Tap is a bit of an anomoly. First of all, it is smoke free. Huge marks for that. Second, it has delicious food. Delicious food that is not bar food, that is. Tasty pizzas, interesting sandwiches, housemade blackbean burgers. It's all good. Third, lots of great local craft beer options. Finally, it's still a bar. It's open late and is a great last stop of the night option. You are bound to run into friends there. During the dinner hour especially, it can get pretty crowded. Since it is bar, there is no hostess, no waiting list. You just have to stand around and watch for a table. It is worth the wait though.

I've come here to watch soccer on early Saturday mornings....they have a decent crowd even at 10am. Its definitely a good place to watch a soccer game at. I've come at night and its a little pricey, but I'll go for the soccer games. Decent breakfast food too. Eggs and a beer is the way to go.

Went here for a drink a couple weeks ago. Man, this place was PACKED, which is always a good sign. The waiter was pretty quick, very friendly, and not pushy at all. We each had one drink (it was before a show at the comedy club) and the waiter brought our check right away as asked. Didn't try the food as I'd just eaten dinner, but the menu looked pretty good. Will be back, for sure.

Caylan our server was AMAZING, what shocked me was that he remembered my drink, Diet Coke with Limes, he said that he doesn't remember names (we have that in common) but remembers drinks (what a gift for a server to have) well, we were in a MANIC mood, we were the only ones @ a table (it's ~1:30AM) we run late, a half a dozen people sitting @ the bar i think i Nearly drove him crazy @ the end of his shift, but he kept our drinks filled & our food was served hot & on time he bowed out gracefully @ last call, shaking all 3 in our party's hands we were Very Impressed in Caylan's service & just keeping up with our manic mood & behavior (Obnoxious Non-Drinkers)

I really like this place, it is on Mass Ave which i love! i work on Mass Ave so its a good place to grab a beer with my coworkers after work. Great beer, great food, big menu.

When I was here we caught our server as he was headed out the door and because of that, he sucked. I won't name names, because, well I like this place. They have great wings, thats undeniable, the draft selection is good and generally speaking they have a pretty good beer selection over all. They have a pretty cool atmosphere and the other servers are pretty decent. I had the pleaseure of working with Mary Kate at my restaurant and I have to say she is a great person to work with, and I mean to stop by Chatam sometime when she is working to see how she is at her tables... Check this place out and grab some wings (just wings though, I haven't had much luck with other things on their menu).

I LOVED this place! It was completely packed, but didn't take too long to get a table. The service was a little slow, but I've been told by other friends that it's normally not that bad. The beer selection was awesome! I loved all the choices they had on tap as well as bottled. I tried the Gorgonzola Pear Melt. If this sounds sketchy to you, don't worry because I was a little worried at first as well!! That worry was unneeded though because the sandwich was GREAT! The cheese had just a little bite that melded nicely with the sweetness of the pear. It was quite delicious!!!!!! The sandwich also came with their homemade potato chips. The chips were a little too crispy for my taste, but they weren't bad. One of the friends I was with ordered the cheeseburger pizza, and that was also really, really good! I can't wait to go back :)

One of my favorite places on Mass Ave. While a relative newcomer, the Chatham Tap has really begin to hit it's stride by providing excellent food and stellar service. No matter if it is Andrew, Danny, Mary Kate, Megan or many of the other extraordinary servers, you will feel very appreciated here.

I'd bring just about anyone here. Anyone I liked anyway. Great food, nice busy noisy bar vibe. No complaints whatsoever.

Chatham Tap is my favorite Mass Ave Bar. It was only a few years ago that my wife and I purchased the painting in out living room from the gallery that used to occupy this space. When I heard a bar was taking over the lease I never thought it would have worked (given the size). Man was I wrong, the layout was perfectly executed. It's a smaller pub, but that is what gives this place it's charm. A great place for international soccer matches. Good beer selection, outstanding pub food selection (Spinach Artichoke Dip and Wings are my favorite). If you come during prime weekend hours you might have to wait for a table but your evening will be better if you do.

Chatham Tap is an excellent stop for beers. While it is just around the corner from me, I don't find myself gravitating to Chatham as much as I had thought I would. I think that's because aside from the burgers (which are fantastic, by the way) I really haven't found much on the menu that I am very crazy about. Nevertheless, I love Chatham as a place to grab a quick drink and chat. Easily one of the best atmospheres on mass ave. If you're a futball (soccer) fan, this is certainly the place to be. Always a game on and the place gets crazy during the world cup or any other major event.

this was a good spot. i'd never been to Indianapolis and was doing some job training in town for a few days. happened to be during the soccer Gold Cup. watched USA beat up on Panama, while drinking some good local beer and enjoying a black bean burger. the place was packed for the game, but the service was pretty good still. Wednesday there is a special on local beers, dollar off all indiana brew!

This is a fantastic bar and eatery. There food is fantastic and reasonably priced. I have had there fish and chips and their Asian chicken lettuce wraps. Great selection of local and other beers. I prefer outdoor seating it is spacier. Only down point is it is seat yourself so first come first serve. Great nice staff.

Loudest bar? Not quite -- at least, not on this Wednesday evening. Granted it was early (10 p.m.-ish), full of packed tables and sports-filled screens so it could have been LOUD -- instead, it was low-key, nice and laid back. Service was fast and attentive, the spicy steak salad tasty -- a mild and pleasing mix from the organic mixed leaf lettuce, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo and sour cream ranch, then just enough heat from the spicy 4 oz. ribeye strips -- just enough to get the point across without setting your tongue ablaze. Would get a five but for one down side: the texture of the steak. Steel teeth shouldn't be required in order to gnaw through every other bite. It'll get a second chance -- I just won't order steak!

Where else can i watch soccer with one eye and golf with the other - and still be missing out on the rugby? Seriously though, I love the laid-back vibe, the overhead fans that are particularly welcoming on a hot summer day, and the absolutely fantastic black bean burger served on the fluffiest bun I have ever eaten. Oh, and the friendly waitress who didn't blink when I ordered a second one.

  • Emily U.

This place has way more TeeVees than I thought--about five or six. But they are relatively unobtrusive. Though the sound gets LOUD in here when it's full, just from conversation. I tried the Portobello/Gouda open-face sandwich this time. It was pretty delicious, but, just as the salad I tried the first time had way too many candied walnuts, a copious application of garlic aioli threatened to overwhelm the sandwich. There *is* such thing as too much of a good thing.

Love this place. Love the location on Mass Ave, love the atmosphere, good selection of beer and cider, good bar food, and lots of tvs make this a good place to hang out and watch a game. THE place to watch soccer in Indianapolis, in my opinion. It's small, very tight quarters, and it does get noisy. And it can get pretty hot in the summer. But the atmosphere is great, It's all part of it - the old bar, the soccer scarves on the wall, all the tvs, it makes this place different and great. My favorites on the menu: the Angel Wings with the signature sauce, Montauks, and the Portabella Mushroom Fries for appetizers; The Fish Sandwich (get it spicy!), the Englishman in Italy, and the Meaty Kuzola pizza for entres.

Cool laid back atmosphere, nice draft selection. A little inconsistent on the mixed drinks though. Ordered a Ketel 1 and cranberry, it was ok. Just your average drink. Ordered another, got a full glass of ketel 1 with a splash of cran, it was OK . I prefer consistency over being under served or given alcohol poisoning any day. I will be back, I am sure the newness kinks will be worked out soon!

Great location, great atmosphere, really good food. Try the pizza and the garlic chips. The patio is dog friendly, yay! My only gripe -- the service usually sucks. It's like they know they are popular enough they can skimp on good service.

  • Kris P.

Soccer Riots!! First, let me state....the food and beer are great. The 1 star rating is more of a reflection of a server who had his own one man soccer riot. And to the manager who looked on like a total wimp....he must root for Equipe De France. It was great entertainment watching the server slam stuff around like he worked at Ed Debevic's, but I felt absolutely terrible for the elder table top of four that sat there uncomfortably. Unacceptable.

This place did a complete 180 on me. We stopped in Saturday night after a long day of drinking and took a seat on the patio. We had our exact same waiter that we had last time but this time he did a stellar job. There was a group of 6 of us and we all ordered drinks and food. Everything came out in a super timely manner. The food was excellent. Those decadent fries they have are on my death row meal for sure! The waiter suggested some pizza with lots of meat and what appeared to be a salad on top. I wish I could recall the name but it was amazing! Good job Chatham!

I love this place, and I am so glad it is only steps away from my condo or else I would have never tried it. I just moved here and was looking for a quick late night bite with my hubby and we wandered in here, the food was great and the atmosphere so cozy! I felt like I was in a London pub. We've been back many times since, foods always good and it's a great place to just sit back, drink a beer, and have a really good conversation.

The food here is great. I highly recommend the food. It does get very crowded especially after 11PM on the weekends when it is no longer smoke free. I've had poor service here a few times that is the only reason I gave it 3 stars.

The St. George's Philly is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in Indianapolis. The corned beef, sauteed onions, mozzarella and dill mayo are all situated nicely in between two pieces of parisien bread. Get this and you won't be disappointed. Located on Mass Ave., Chatham Tap is the perfect lunch spot and best place to catch a soccer game. Lastly, I prefer getting the french fries over their seasoned chips. Cheers!

This has a great feel and good food. We take guests here when they want a unique experience without having to leave their culinary comfort zone. Its selection of good quality entrees, good beers, tight-knit seating feeling, and decor make it a fun place to have a dinner with professional colleagues or a random uncle coming through town!

Don't judge me for ordering COKE over beer. I don't drink but I came here for the fish and chips, basketball games and a good time. AND I did, I love everything about it. The server was very attentive regardless of how busy he is being the bartender. The food was awesome, bite sizes of fish that you could eat it with your hands. For some reason, it just tasted yummier with hands. Obviously, I have underestimated how good bar food can be.

We were heading to the Indy Fringe theater for a show on Tuesday and stopped down for a quick bite to eat before. What a great choice by my friend (and former student. We taught her well!). A cute little patio and great English-style tables inside. The servers were quite kind. Our drinks were filled always. The food was so-so although for a pub, the menu is pretty robust. Definitely going to be on my places to hang out when I'm looking to hang out at places.

Love this place! they serve the best fish in chips in town, and I like the garlic ranch they serve with french fries. I also discovered that I am a bit of a soccer fan after my first visit a fews years ago. I think it is nice that they carved out a niche and are sticking to it. All the wood walls and beautiful bar really make you feel like you are in an English Pub. The little space set up out back for seating is nice on a warm day and you really don't feel like you are just sitting in a parking lot. This place is not big and once people come they tend to stay. Plan on arriving early to get a table or seat at the bar, if not you could be waiting a bit. It is worth it. One this to beware of is the bathroom situation, they have 2 unisex rooms, one in the front of the bar and one in the back.

Chatham Tap has the best nachos in town, no question. This restaurant has a more classic pub feel and always has a soccer game playing on one of the few TV screens. It is normally pretty busy and loud and the service can tend to be slow. Usually the staff isn't over friendly but just there to take your order and deliver your food. But the food is delicious! The have a great assortment of appetizers, salads, sandwiches and of course drinks!

My favorite bar food on mass Ave' THE BEST WINGS IN TOWN. Hands down. Get the house sauce. Also the Robert browning pizza and lettuce wraps. I get these three items almost every time! I can't speak for the north side Chatham- but this is literally one of my top three bars! Great beer selection, and the best place for soccer games!

So after a long morning burning it up on the bike paths, I needed some meat and some adult beverages before heading back to the old apt to take naps, and boy am I glad that I did! Let me preface this review by stating that I've never visited any of the businesses on Mass Ave. since I've moved here which I'm sure is in direct violation to a few local ordinances. I chained up the bike outside around -pm on a Saturday and walked into a near empty bar, was promptly greeted and asked for a menu. The bar is decorated as a typical English pub. Bell's were all a dollar off and I ordered a Bell's two hearted ale and a steak sandwich. The bartender was very friendly, and during my visit one of the local regulars walked in and ordered a jack and coke and the bartender said that they didn't have the paper for him. Just the thought that the bartender would keep the paper for him was such a nice touch. I watched reruns of some old soccer while a dreamed of watching Reds;). The sandwich arrived and holy cow. I expected shredded steak. It was a FULL 8oz steak on an open faced sandwich with scrambled egg (I asked for it scrambled to which they obliged) on top!! It also came with cole slaw. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the egg and cheese on top was a nice compliment. The cole slaw was also great because I hate mayonnaise, and was more of a vinegar base. I quickly downed my beer and ordered another and asked for the check. 9 bucks for the sandwich (if you could call it that, haha) and 4 each for the beers. Total damage with tip $22! Not bad for a go-back-to-your-home-and-pass-out-until-it's-time-to-do-something-later meal! As I was leaving the place started to fill up with mostly twenty something's and the sandwich was so good I asked the bartender if they did carry out, which they do. I will happily pay $9 all day long for a deconstructed steak dinner. Get there early, eat up, go home and sleep, then go back out and do it again -- advise from a dumb, full, and happy engineer!!

Stopped in on a Monday around 7pm and the place was pretty full. The bartender was friendly and attentive. The bar seemed well stocked, not a drinker so take that as you will. Now the food...THE FOOD was fantastic! I ordered the Pear Gorgonzola Melt. How they fit all that amazingness on one plate is impressive. The clientele is all ages and backgrounds, which is great. Nutshell: Definitely check this place out for a good sandwich at a good price (~$10) and to catch up on the footy games.

Just FYI all the prices listed on here are wrong. I ordered a bunch of stuff and when I picked it up it was a lot more expensive than I thought it would be.

Beer menu was mediocre, service was great, food was decent. What was off-putting was that they had the home run derby on with the great new format, and changed it to...soccer. I had no idea I was in a soccer bar, so I paid up and left. I can sleep in my room.

This is a soccer, er "football," bar in downtown Indy. I know this because the walls are covered in British soccer team scarves. The ambience is nice and the bartenders are good. There is a pretty good selection of both British ales (Hobgoblin anyone?) and local beers (Upland, Sun King, etc.). My main purpose in going to the Chatham was to try there Hoosier pork tenderloin sandwich--yes, even a British pub has to have a Hoosier pork tenderloin in Indiana--called here, the "garlic tenderloin." I didn't get a strong taste of garlic, and the tenderloin itself was by no means jumbo (just slightly bigger than the bun), but the batter was very crispy and not all all oily. The meat was tender and well seasoned. The only criticism I have is that the fries were battered....but if that's your thing....

THE place in downtown Indy to watch soccer! Scarves from teams all over the world line the walls, accompanied by jerseys and European beer signs. Seven TVs, an extensive bottle and draft beer list (lots of local stuff), and daily drink specials as well as tasty pub food mean you'll always have a good time here. It's never been empty when I've come by, regardless of day of the week or time. As the server's t-shirts proclaim, "You'll never drink alone" at Chatham. Part of the Mass Ave strip, this place is walking distance from most of the bars you probably already visit. Additionally, there's also a patio in the back for those of you who may want a little fresh air. One tip: if you are coming for a sporting event, make sure to get here early if you want a table!

If you're into soccer and England and pub food, well, you've probably already been to Chatham Tap on Mass Ave. I like this place. Beer and food were reasonably priced, staff was attentive, food was prompt and tasty. In reality, I'd say it's four and a half stars. The menu features sandwiches, pizzas, apps, and fish and chips. I'd go back.

Way way above average bar food here! Loved the Philly sandwich with grilled peppers and onions. Beer selection leans towards your typical English pub but with some great micro selections as well. Service was friendly and on point and the soccer club scarves were really interesting to check out. What a great place to watch a match or anything really. Cheers!

The Mass Ave., Chatham is much smaller than fishers. Also has a bar feel versus a restaurant feel. Odd shape the is jammed with tables and chairs. Obviously it set up to watch soccer and there is a small outdoor patio, actually two. Great place to watch sports, especially soccer. Strong drinks and a good beer menu. Beat up wooden bar. Bar back is well done with a large TV in the center taps to the lower left and shelves on each side of the TV. Decorations mostly include soccer garb. Wooden barstools with padded bottom and back support. great food.

I have been eaten here four times and have had good service and good food each time. Monday is their wine special night and if you are a wine drinker, it is a bargain. We sat outside twice and enjoy the privacy of the little alley behind the restaurant. The fish and chips are great. I probably will pass on the rasher of bacon in the BLT. It is a squishy mass of Canadian bacon. Not an American BLT.

Oh goodness me, this place. This place has some pretty banging wings and spinach artichoke dip. I was there the other day for an early evening drinking excursion and after we saw what kind of food options they had a bar further down the street, we were like nah way, Chatham Tap all the way. So we came in and started boozing, chatting, eating food and just had a great start to our Friday evening! We had a really nice and outgoing bartender by the name of Taylor, I believe. She had a great attitude and was very informative.

  • Ron R.

Fried food goodness. If I had one complaint about this place, it would be the size. In the non-spring/summer months when the outdoor area is closed, good luck getting in here to eat. It is almost always crowded. Other than that, they have a full bar, good beer choices (not many however) and decent food. They have a healthy mix of really bad for you fried foods, and some interesting choices like an Apple & Brie Sandwich. I cant say that they have anything that REALLY stands out food wise, so I don't recommend coming here for dinner as a foodie. I do recommend coming here for munchies when having a few drinks on Mass Ave however. Cheers!

So a lot of places in Indy try to do the whole "English pub thing" and fail miserably. Chatham is not one of those places. I first visited here last summer during the World Cup and absolutely fell in love with the atmosphere and charm of the place. It definitely has a soccer atmosphere without being overbearing on those who aren't as in love with the sport as others. The tapenade appetizer combines all of my favorite things into one dish - black olives, capers, pimentos, BREAD. Probably one of my favorite appetizers in the city. The nachos and garlic & cheese chips are great too. I can promise you that no matter what your food preference, you will be able to find a sandwich you like here. The Earl's club sandwich on ciabatta is great, same with the pesto sandwich, greek chicken sandwich, and the gorgonzola pear melt. BUT, my favorite might be the smoked gouda apple melt. Okay... what? And they have Urban Chesnut Bushelhead Cider on draft. Anytime there is a different cider on tap to try besides Angry Orchard or Redd's, I am one happy camper. It's pretty good stuff too.

Garlic and cheese chips. That's it. I crave and rave about these things all the time. Goes great with my St. George's Philly. It's a wonderful pub feel, very chill, non-pretentious, great price and----as previously mentioned----I love the food. If I still lived downtown I'd go more often but when I'm in the area I make a point to stop. If you're a fan of English brews, they have some interesting ones (and specials). Sit outside and enjoy.

This place is pretty neat! I recently met up with some friends to have some snacks, and maybe a beverage or two. The decor was nice, pleasant, warm and pub-ish. A pretty good amount of seating. And while they were absolutely packed, the service didn't suffer. I also found it pretty handy with the late night food menu. A few folks that were already there (that we met up with) had some wings. Those were some pretty damn good wings. Decent amount of meat, good flavor, etc. I ordered a Ruben pizza. There was so much I wanted to try, but this one jumped out. The pizza exceeded my expectations. They also seemed to have a good beer selection. It was a little late getting there, and the crowd was entertaining. We were chatting with another patron... He was DESTROYED. Good times.

I am only giving 3 stars because of the service. The food was great and the drinks were reasonably priced. Our waitress was horrible. Disappeared for long stretches. When she dropped out check off she didn't even make eye contact with me. The table next to us even commented on her attitude.

Well, we have eaten here a few times since my last review but this time we tore ourselves away from our old faithfuls. All I heard all the way home was "these were the best I've ever had". Hubster was talking about the Chicken wings. I would say OMG, I totally agree. I love crispy chicken but thick breading is not as good as broasted chicken. These are broasted and I agree, they are the best wings I've ever had!! We had them tossed in their signature sauce and asked for the apricot chipotle and another one on the side. They were excellent. I had a cheeseburger which was very juicy and flavorful and a side of onion rings which I gladly gave 1/2 to hubster. The breading was extremely good and they were exceptional & crisp. We really like this place because it is casual and we always feel comfortable here. The service here has always been good for us even though most of the time it is extremely packed. This time we had a waitress that we hadn't seen for a few months and she even remembered what cocktails we liked and how we liked them! They are always accommodating with requests, not pretentious like charging extra for sauce or saying no substitutions. We both agreed that these wings will haunt us until we go back!!

Great service!! Thanks for the attention and accuracy. Props to the kitchen who got out the food to several tables very quickly. The food fare is heavy and delicious, pair a beer from the great selection of bottle or drafts, you really can't go wrong. The crowd tends to be older and laid back, not really a frat boy vibe here but soccer fans of course, can get rowdy. All part of the fun, check your "look at me" attitude at the door, sit down and relax for a good time. It's cozy yes but not uncomfortable. The bathrooms are 'quaint' aka tiny, not really a problem though. On a busy night, Friday or Saturday, grab the first open table you see. You will be found and greeted quickly. I would recommend the fried pickle appetizer, the portobello fries or the hummus appetizer. Try the traditional fish and chips (just to say you did) it's heavy but great. Add some garlic fries, you'll be in blood sugar crash heaven!!! Enjoy!

Oh Chatham...how I love thee. There is no way to go wrong stopping in at Chatham. From the English and Belgium beers to the wings and garlic tenderloin, you are sure to have Chatham on your Indy fave list in no time. I would love to tell you I've tried the whole menu...alas, I have my favorites and I am hard to sway away from those. I love the grilled garlic tenderloin with fresh chips, but the wings are to die for as well. Don't forget to try the loaded garlic fries, I mean...the name really says it all here. DEEEElicious! Please note: Chatham Tap IS a soccer pub. There WILL be soccer on. If you are not aware of this when greeted by soccer scarfs errywhere, well, now you know. So next time you're on Mass Ave, and you're feelin' extra chummy, give Chatham a stop in. You will not be dismayed!

Stopped in on Black Friday because of the Goose Island specialties. They had many variants of the Bourbon County series. For that alone, I wanted to give 5 stars. I had the Vanilla Rye and the Coffee stout, both totes amazeballs. Overall, I'd give this place 3.5 stars. It's not my favorite place to stop in at, but I certainly would not refuse should someone suggest this place. It's definitely cozy & welcoming inside. I'm just not crazy about the food, and service is just so/so. I asked to see a food menu, but never was followed up on to place an order. So I left and picked up Chinese carryout. I'll give it another shot sometime, and update my review should the service improve.

I love love love this place! This was my go to place in college, and although I've never ate in, their burgers are phenomenal. Black and Bleu is my all time favorite. The price is right on point for the quality and size. It gets very crowded at night, but it's a bar on Mass Ave so what do you expect?

I'm biased because Chatham holds a special place in my heart as it's where my husband proposed to me. But, all lovey dovey aside....this pub is a great place to visit, whether you're here to watch some football (REAL football mind you, not the pussyfoot sport that Americans watch) or just to grab a pint and some delicious pub grub. Chatham has a great atmosphere--very welcoming and there's always a good crowd of friendly patrons--and the food never disappoints. As a vegetarian, I'm happy to see they have quite a few veggie-friendly items to choose from on their menu. I recommend the Portobello and Gouda on French bread, and if you come early on a Subday...ask the cook to slap an egg over-easy on top to make it more brunch-y.

It was pretty busy on a Friday night - but we were able to find seating on the back patio with our party of six. My buddy, who lives in the area, brought us here with the expectations of having the best wings in Indy. Always skeptical of hype, he was right - the signature wings were the best wings I have had in a really long time. The meat sizes were great, but the sauce is where it's at. It's a hybrid of spicy, sweet, & tangy - and just perfect. I'm usually a classic buffalo wings flavor kind of guy - but these are out of this world. Highly recommend trying.

Fun, intimate(ie: small) location with limited outdoor seating. Had the salmon lunch sandwich and it was totally worth it :) salmon, avocado, and pesto on a corn and black bean ciabatta. Served with fresh chips( not boring old lays) and apples and pears which is so much better than just a blob of lettuce.

Love this place. I've yet to have anything bad here. The pizza is great, the steak sandwich and the Greek sandwich are wonderful. The beer selection is quite good as well. The place can fill up especially on days soccer is on but it can be worth the wait. It is a tight space yet comfortable. Keep in mind it's British so curry is used in a lot of recipes. Service has always been great here as well. We took friends here last week and it was their first visit. They will be coming back they said, really liked it!

This pub is one of those places in Indy that feels like home and that I never grow tired of. There is always a great draft list with offerings from Sun King, Flat 12, Fountain Square and other Indiana breweries. However, unlike many other bars, the food is actually really good. I love the gogronzola and pear and smoked gouda & apple melt. The pizza dough is amazing. My favorite things to order, by far though, are snacks: garlic & cheese chips (fries), the Mountaks (crispy bread topped with a creamy sauce, rasher bacon, and delicious tomatoes), the portabella mushroom fries, spinach artichoke dip with pita chips... mmmmmm. Get an appetizer and a beer and you will be a happy happy hour attendee indeed. The decor of the pub is cozy as it is covered with soccer paraphernalia. There are TVs all over and although soccer is clearly the main event, there is certainly an acknowledgement that we are in Indiana and college basketball games are usually on the bigger screens. I've watched many a Butler game here. During the summer, it is great to sit out on the back patio for hours and there's always people passing by on the cultural trail. Whenever I'm meeting up with someone for an after-work beer, looking for my fill of comfort food during the Indy Fringe festival or a big basketball game on TV, or wanting a casual meal when friends visit town, this is the spot I suggest. I only wish it was less popular; come before 6 pm or late on Thursdays/weekends to get a table.

Located on the vibrant Mass Ave, Chatham is a great place to grab some delicious food and drinks with friends. We came here after a wedding and were just looking for a place to relax on our last night in the city. For a small pub, they were very accommodating to our large and rowdy group. We sat on the back patio where it was quieter and had a more relaxed atmosphere. Just what we needed to wind down from a fun but long day. They had a good variety of local, domestic and international beers. The fiancé and i fancied ourselves with some triple IPA And cream wheat at really reasonable prices of $4-7 for beers. We also got some garlic and cheesy chips and they definitely did not skim on the garlic nor the cheese. It was absolutely delicious! Our friends all got small pizzas which could feed 2 people also at reasonable prices. What made the experience great was our waiter who was very attentive despite how busy he was. He let our large group have 10+ separate checks and got our orders and quickly. Overall, it was a great experience!

The BBQ wings I had, though very sweet, were really good...The problem is that I ordered Buffalo wings...Was too hungry to send them back.... One full order is very filling. Apparently this is a Soccer bar.

2 locations, but I like the one downtown on Mass Ave better despite being smaller. Good selection of beers on tap and if you want food, chicken nacho are the way to go. Not sure what it is (maybe the perfect layering of ingredients, the hummus, or the way it's all baked together) but they are a must try!

If you love soccer, good food, and great beer then you will love Chatham Tap! Chatham Tap has a friendly atmosphere and amicable servers. It has a quaint, hole-in-the-wall vibe that gives off an aura of an English pub. Football scarves decorate the rafters of teams ranging from the Premier League to the Bundesliga to Italy's Serie A. The walls are adorned with vintage pictures of old sporting events. It doesn't have a strong college atmosphere, it's an older and more mature crowd. The seating leaves a little to be desired, it doesn't have a large capacity, and if you go there during prime-times, you may be waiting awhile for a seat, as it is certainly a popular bar on the weekends. It's at it's best on Saturday mornings (if you can get up that early to go drinking) when they show all of the EPL matches during the day. The beer is pretty typically priced, but the entrees and appetizers are pretty modest and well worth what you pay for them (the fish and chips is very good). In summary, if you're looking for a cozy bar with a unique atmosphere that is different from your typical run-of-the-mill bar, then Chatham Tap is well worth a visit.

This is my favorite place in the city. Between the food, drinks and atmosphere I am never disappointed. The food will never disappoint, the bar staff will always treat you like family, and there is always someone to speak with - even a rival soccer fan (though I'm still learning!). Definitely try the wings and always check their special draft list to find rare taps in the city.

I think I have a teeny tiny crush... Maybe it's the way she wears her cap (backwards) or the way she screams at the TV and pounds the bar when the call doesn't go her way. I'm sure it helped the way she smiled at me, called my honey, and often and attentively asked me how I was doing.... t definitely have to come back to the Chatham Tap! I stopped in to celebrate and watch the Purdue game. I wandered in here because of the reviews of my fellow Yelpers! I wasn't disappointed and this place is a nice cozy pub with really good food. I tried and recommend the the Lord Byron pizza if you are into hummus and veggies. According to Brittany S. my doppelgänger hangs here too! So I have to come back and meet him and see how his life is going so far!

Say "yes" to the breadsticks. They're awesome. My friends always love the fried pickles, but I think they can be a bit greasy. The back patio is a nice place to stop if you need to take a break from a bike ride on the Cultural Trail.

When looking for a place to chill at for a while, get some lunch, and a few beers, I stumbled across Chatham Tap. Don't be turned off by the odd smell when you first walk in (still don't know what that was...probably the only downfall to this place). Apparently, this place is known for being the soccer (in every other country known as football...but we have to be difficult) bar in town. They have plenty of TV's scattered around so you can catch a game from any angle. It has a nice small pub feel. We weren't concerned with soccer that day...just food and beer. They have an interesting menu that has some plates I have not seen at other restaurants. We ordered a few appetizers - the Montauks and the bread sticks. The bread sticks are made from their pizza crust and come with a cheese dip and marinara sauce. Both were great, but the bread sticks were the favorite. My friend and I shared the Gorgonzola Pear Melt and the Smoked Gouda Apple Melt. The Pear Melt was definitely the favorite - bursting with flavor! The Apple Melt could have used some more cheese...and bacon of course. Everything is decently priced, and everyone seemed happy with their meal choices. They have a variety to choose from. Their beer selection is also very good - they have a lot of beers from the local breweries.

First time here with the hubby....we were amazed with the food and drinks...we were serviced by Thomas! Cozy fun place ...we absolutely loved the chicken wings with tangy bbq sauce. .portabella mushrooms were crunchy and not gooey on inside...the fish and chips were the best!!! A fantastic place!!!

I was fortunate enough to treat myself to Fish and Chips on a sunny day and on the back patio. The outdoor seating at Chatham is actually in the alley/along the side of the cultural trail. I personally like this location because it's not windy from the buildings blocking the wind and you get to see people being active on the trail. The outdoor seating can hold I'm estimating somewhere around 20 people and consists of two levels with metal furniture. Perfect setting to just chill and have a beer. Switching gears to the food. I chose to have a half order of Fish and Chips. The half order comes with four pieces of cod and the full order comes with eight. I believe mine cost $8 and the full order is around $10. The fish and breading had great flavor. My boyfriend did point out that there was a fair amount of breading on the fish, but I had just finished a 5k and the breading is what I was craving. The fish piece were more cylindrical in shape than I expected but that doesn't mean it tasted any different. The chips (fries) were covered in a seasoning that tasted similar to season all salt and made them a little more flavorful than just plain, fried and salted potatoes. I'm 90% sure that the tarter sauce was homemade. I love mayonaise and it had plenty of fatty goodness in it. It also had dill and relish (of course) in it. The lemon (for the fish) was served in a handy dandy little cloth so that you could squeeze the life out of the lemon and not get the seeds in your food, which is fantastic.

Chatham is one of my favorite spots in the whole city. I love its English charm and draft selection. I could eat the Prince Dean's Angel wings just about everyday if I had the opportunity. Those wings are some of the best wings I have ever had. I never have been disappointed with anything that I have ordered from Chatham. It is an ideal spot to watch sports, but soccer specifically is awesome to watch there. Chatham invites passionate soccer fans from all over the city to come watch games at the wee hours of the morning. It is consistently busy all the time, and the atmosphere is awesome! Walking in feels like you have stepped into a pub in England. I watched a world cup match or two last summer and it was an incredible experience. It is amazing to see how many soccer fans there are in Indy and it is enjoyable to share their passion when they come in to watch games. Chatham can get a little tight, but that is part of the experience. I do not have kids myself, but unfortunately Chatham is not a place for minors. Every patron must be 21 or older to enter the establishment. It is a pub after all. Chatham is a place I frequent and could never get sick of.

Chatham is one of my favorite Indy bars. I'm not a soccer fan, but I appreciate the feel they are going for. I love the English pub theme with the telephone booths and soccer scarves lining the walls. The food is great. Amazing breadsticks, great sandwiches, meh pizza. Mountaks also very notable. The beer is the shining star here. Lots of options on tap including those they don't have everywhere else on Mass Ave. A definite go-to when you can't decide where to go and want a nice lo-key evening.

One of favorite casual restaurants on Mass Ave. The Prince Deans Angles wings are some of the best in the city and they always have great beers on tap. Also a great place to watch a futbal match! The service is good, but I think the wait and bar staff is going for the abrasive British attitude, which makes sense and doesn't bother me, so just don't expect over-the-top cheery service. Overall, fantastic restaurant!

Chatham Tap is a great Indy staple. Whenever we can't decide on a place that everyone will enjoy, this is always a great option because there is a little bit of everything and the atmosphere is really fun. My favorites here are the Spinach and Artichoke Dip and the Gorgonzola Pear Sandwich! They have some great drink specials and a very relaxing outdoor seating area in the back. It can get crowded early on the weekends - or, gasp, during the World Cup ;)

I'm really glad that Chatham Tap is soo close to my apartment. When I moved to Mass Ave I was worried I wouldn't have a hang out for pizza and wings. I now rest easy knowing I can stroll down the street to chill and watch sports. I highly recommend giving their pizzas a try. The Meaty Kuzola, the Reuben and The Cheeseburger Pizza are three of my favs. Don't be afraid of the rasher bacon, or any bacon for that matter, The Prince Dean's wings (esp. the signature sauce) are also excellent. Meaty, but not too big, with great sauces. I wish the blue cheese was a bit higher quality, but it's a minor thing. I also enjoy the Smoking Black and Bleu burger. I would recommend ordering the burgers medium well or above as they seem to consistently under cook them. The Tap has a great rotating beer tap. While it's not the biggest selection, they always have enough taps to cover a wide range of beer tastes. Give the Chatham Tap a try.

So great. I could eat their pizza every day forever. Sandwiches are also good. The wings are totally phenomenal. I also am a big fan of their garden salad, which is a pretty fantastic and cheap meal in itself. Makes me feel better to order this sometimes when everyone else is feeling like something a big more substantial!

"I'm having trouble deciding. Should I get the fish & chips or the wings?" "Definitely get the wings," the bartender replied instantaneously. "They're really good!" Sold. Sometimes it's just that easy. And sometimes it's just as good as recommended. And sometimes was this time after downing a dozen of the Prince Dean's Angel Wings, a sweet and spicy combination that was so delicious it's hard to put into words. Plus, the entire assortment of wings were nice and crispy, an absolute must in my world. Naturally, a side of ranch and carrots accompanied them and I washed it all down with a pint of Old Speckled Hen, a rarity I haven't enjoyed in a long time. Although not extremely large, CTR&P had enough tables and bar space to accompany the ever-growing lunch crowd, but I can only imagine how cramped it probably gets during dinner or soccer matches. Yes, this appears to be THE pub to check out a match, especially since the walls are all decked out with various banners, jerseys and scarves. One last note: No, they are not bringing your meal in from outside. The basement kitchen stairs are located in the front vestibule, causing the waitresses to continually come in and out through the front door. Yeah, it was a temporary mindf*#% until I realized what in the heck was going on. Enjoy!

I have found myself stopping in here mostly for the awesome food and great location along the cultural trail. This place is definitely catered toward the soccer crowd as far as the decorating goes, but is inviting for anybody looking for a place to sit down and get a beer and some food. There is a bar with seating, as well as plenty of tables inside. If it's a nice day out, the large multilevel patio outside is fantastic and provides a quite place to eat or drink since it is located behind the restaurant and not on Mass Ave. The food consists mostly of sandwiches and burgers, but they are unlike many you will find at other places and offer many interesting toppings and combinations. I highly recommend getting the portabella mushroom fries as an appetizer, which I tried for the first time and will now be making trips there just for those. A couple at one of the tables ordered one of the pizzas that they offer and it looked amazing as well. I'd say the food here is some of the best in Indy as far as pub style food goes, and almost everything comes in at under $10. The beer menu is also great and offers a dozen or so beers on tap with a good mix of the usual craft beers with some great Sun King selections as well, and a pretty extensive bottle menu is also available if nothing on tap sounds good. My big complaint is that the service was actually pretty slow for the small crowd that was there. I'd say the staff on hand when I was there last was almost equal to 1 server for every 2 customers, but we had to flag down our server to get refills and to place our order after sitting for a long time with our menus. The person who got us drinks is who we flagged down to place a food order but she went and got somebody else to take that for us, so maybe it was just a mix-up that left us without a server this time, but it has seemed slow for all of the few times that I have visited. I haven't been there for a late night visit when it sounds like it is the busiest, but I hope that the service picks up for that crowd compared to what it was like for the dinner customers. The food will keep me coming back, but it does seem that the service needs to be stepped up a few notches.

A great place for Fish and Chips and many other menu items. Soccer themed Pub downtown on Mass Ave. It is a great Happy Hour, Dinner, and Late Night destination. I frequent this place and it has a lot of repeat customers from downtown.

I came here with a few friends before our volleyball game to enjoy a round of drinks and some food before playing. The atmosphere is like an English pub, with lots of soccer/football decorations and TV's to watch sports. Service was fast & friendly overall. The beer list is pretty expansive, with many beers on tap. The food menu looked pretty good, and everyone who ordered food enjoyed their choices. The charcuterie board looked especially good. I would definitely like to come back to try some food!

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE I have been to Chatham Tap on multiple occasions and it has yet to disappoint. We were in a larger group and ordered bread sticks and fried pickles as appetizers which were both very tasty and came out at a decent speed. The Angel Wings are what they are known for and have a very unique sauce that you can't get at any other restaurant, so those are a must try! The fish and chips are also a hit as well as their pizza! I have had just about all the appetizers and you cannot go wrong! The atmosphere is laid back and fun, but if you go during a sporting event or on weekend nights, be prepared for cramped spaces and loud yelling! Very fun surroundings, but definitely a small space. Overall the staff is friendly and helpful in making recommendations and the food comes out at a decent pace and there are always drink specials.

We went in on a Saturday before an Indians game. The place was empty other than a few people at the bar. We waited a good 10 minutes before someone dropped off waters and menus. Thankfully, one of the guys who just started his shift behind the bar came out and took our orders and even recommended the Philly Cheese steak. Had he not noticed us, we would have left. Food was decent but pricey.

Chatham Tap was a great place to spend a Friday evening after a long bus trip. The seating situation can be a little frustrating since you'll have to scout out a table yourself, which is only a problem if it's a full house (or close to it). But once seated, I found the service and food to be better than expected for a pub. My sister and I split the hummus/lemon zest pizza as well as the spinach/avocado/goat cheese salad. Her boyfriend had a burger and we all shared an order of the portobello mushroom fries. My only gripe was with the pizza - the crust wasn't crusty enough (too breadlike) and the unique ingredients didn't provide as much of a unique, distinctive flavor as I was hoping they would. Service was good though, and our server always on top of making sure we had drink refills if we wanted them.

I live near here so location is a big part of why I stopped in my first time. I'm not much of a soccer fan, or an "English Pub" type person, so normally I would have looked it over. However I was pleasantly surprised when a friend and I had lunch there. The food is really good! I had a BLT - made with rasher bacon on a baguette, it is a substantial sandwich, and the homemade potato chips were great. With a beer menu that would make even the most pretentious beer snob happy, you really can't go wrong for a nice leisurely afternoon lunch. The patio out back is nice, too. I can't say how it is late night - although it is packed every time I walk past it!

I live a hop, skip and a jump from this establishment, and I have fast become a regular. With a wide variety of beer on tap, rotating "featured" brews, and a range of food for all preferences, this place has everything. Factor in that I am a huge English Premier League soccer fan, and this is the only true Soccer bar I have been able to find in Indianapolis, it gets 5 stars. Recommendations? Get the bread sticks. They are cheap and delicious. The fish and chips are fantastic - but so is just about everything on the menu. Feel free to sample the collection at this great Mass Ave location.

After getting the shake down from the bartender ... he asked for IDs and credit cards to verify age/name, we were very well taken care of by the staff. For a Tuesday night, there was a good crown on hand. Beers were well priced and had a number of options outside of your "normal" bud/coors selections. There's are a good number of TVs here and the Panasonic 60 inch TV is killa! Great place to watch a sporting event or even relax with brew in hand ... Not sure on the food as we didn't eat here ...

Good beer selection and specials, fun atmosphere and good appetizers to snack on. You have to try the nachos with hummus quacamole. It sounds kind of weird, but is amazing. Also try one of the English beers on tap, I recommend the Old Speckled Hen, and not just for the awesome name.

I've only been here a couple of times but I really like the feel of it. The food has been really great, they have standard bar fare as well as some items that are a little out of the box for a pub. The staff is prompt and friendly.

They have a great tap beer selection. I had the Sun King ESB and it was fantastic. It reminds me a lot of Red Hook ESB, which is one of my favorite beers. The restaurant is full every time I go. Seating can be a problem for large groups.

I'm a fan. I dont give a hoot about English soccer but that's ok. I do however think their food is worth the background noise and cramped space you have to deal with to get it. I even sat in the back 3 feet from the toilet. It was stinky. Because of the noise, hit or miss service, and cramped space, I didnt give it 5 stars. The food, however deserves it. The fish and chips are in the top 5 I have ever had. Great breading and huge portion for 7.95! Even better than that is the gorgonzola pear sandwhich. It sounds weird but it is heaven. A big piece of salty rasher bacon compliments the pear and cheese. $6.95! They have local Sunking Ales and Lagers. I went with the JAVA Stout. Very heavy and dark but good. Coffee and beer together. What a treat.

Very good food! The pizza and apple and gouda sandwiches are highlights. A nice selection of beer including Sun King. It gets crowded, especially on the weekends so be prepared to wait. Smoke free too. Overall, it's always a good time! And you can't beat the location.

Great place to watch footy. I was visiting town for work and needed a place to watch my blues take on barfalona and came across Chatham. It was a Tuesday so they had $4 Guiness and Black and Tans. Had their fish and chips which was new experience for me. Never had fish that was so soft after being fried, but I really enjoyed it, almost the texture of a donut. Saw my team win and had a great time at this pub.

I go here for the garlic cheese chips. So good! Also, the atmosphere is so laid back and always a good soccer or rugby game going on one of the tv's. The staff is attentive and won't leave you thirsty or hungry, even when they are swamped, and trust me, you go on a weekend at any time, they will be!

  • Melissa B.

I am so charmed by the fact that every waiter/waitress will yell at the TV in the middle of an order, especially the bartender who will slam a hand on the bar in frustration if his or her team isn't doing well. The best (or worst) time to come is during a great soccer game. It gets pretty rowdy, but it's actually kind of fun, because this is where the true soccer fans go. The bar is one of my favorites on Mass Ave simply for the knowledge they possess. I've had some pretty great mixed shots created by one of the bartenders, and I've even found some beer that I like there--not usually one to get too excited about beer. It's pretty laid back, but the servers have always been attentive. The food, for bar food, is surprisingly good. Their fish and chips are the perfect amount of greasy and crunchy while their appetizers and desserts aren't overwhelmingly huge and full of sugar. However, everything comes in huge portions--I can never finish a whole meal, even the half portions. If you're looking for a quiet place to relax and have a beer, this isn't the place. If you want to get fired up about a great sport (real football), come here and enjoy the company of your fellow fans and rivals. But, be careful how you talk shit if your team is going to end up losing!

If you want football (soccer) and you're in downtown Indy there's no need to look any farther than Chatham Tap. Friendly service and a diverse and delicious menu easily give you enough reasons to return and sample new food and beers again and again. The only thing I would avoid on the menu is the desserts. I've yet to have a good experience with any of them. Other than that one exception I've never heard anyone complain about any of the entrees or appetizers. Their house made bruschetta is delicious and their special breakfast menu (served during early mornings when they open to show foreign football matches - mostly the Premier League) is a treat. The only thing that could improve this location is to add additional taps at the bar.

This place was a blast! My only regret was not having been here sooner! A group of us chose to take my brother out on one of his last nights in town before leaving for basic training. We were crawling our way up Mass Ave and made it a point to stop on in. Guys can you say classic English pub?? This place was brilliantly alive with colorful team scarves, witty signs, and classic memorabilia all over the walls! Perfect setting for a group of rowdy, patriotic youngsters! Now our group was rather daunting in size. We numbered well over 15 and hit this smaller pub with a tidal wave force. Somehow, and do not ask me how because I still marvel at this, they managed to squeeze us in so that we all were seated, despite having already packed facilities! Our bar-tender quickly navigated our crazy group and had our drinks promptly set before us. My girlfriends and I were a bit peckish at this point and chose to order their loaded fries...this was the BEST decision of the night! Holly molly guys these were incredible! Blow the diet, pass the carbs, and dunk these bad boys in cheesy, garlicky goodness! These sinfully bad chips were the perfect match to accompany the dark porter I had chosen off their menu. Which brings me to my next point...the beers were impeccable. Offering not only a wide selection of local and European brews, I was intensely impressed at the variety and quality of their menu. Dare you ask the price? Well dare you shall! I walked out that night ager consuming my delicious porter and half the chips for...$12! Now that my friends is an exceptional deal for good beer and good food! Chalk that one up for a win with this foodie!!

As an out of towner I was happy to visit a new bar. My table only had drinks but our friends at the next table had food and all of it looked crazy good! I'll be happy to go back when I'm in Indy next to try the wings...

Food was good but the bartender was rude to say the least. I didn't let her ruin my night but would have been a much better experience if the bartender wasn't yelling at the hockey game the whole night and was more attentive to our drinks. Would have been a 5 star if it weren't for her bad attitude.

Fish and chips, so good! Just eat this! The fish is slightly sweat but the tartersauce has that great sharpness, really good. I will recommend that you sub the chips for onion rings. The fries are okay but the onion rings were crunchy and delicious. I love a good crunchy onion ring with a nice batter that is more crumbly, not smooth. Service was friendly, beer was good. Nice selection. We went on English Beer night and I ordered a cider and a dark beer that were a bit pricey and I assumed would not be included, but they were, very nice surprise on my bill. The heart attck burger was good and huge. Fried pickles a must! Get them, they are a perfect start with your beer. Nice pub atmosphere, went around 6 and it wasn't too busy, but understand it will be backed on footballers nights and other big sporting events.

Chatham Tap offers my favorite nachos in town. I'm not sure if it is the spice-tinged chips, hummus-guac combo or fresh pico de gallo, but I frequently order the nachos as my entrée. They are a fantastic deal, especially if you order them without meat. My friends and co-workers have raved about the fish & chips and wings, which I've never tried, but am looking forward to...if I could get over my nacho fixation. The draft beer selection isn't as large as 20 Tap's, but there can be some interesting options to sample, especially during the winter months. I am not a soccer fan, but appreciate the atmosphere, which is a nice break from the typical sports bar environment. Service is usually average, but there are a couple stellar servers, if you luck out. Seating can be cramped and the place is very busy during the expected hours. I also recommend the garlic-cheese fries, gorgonzola & pear melt, and salmon sandwich (if you are trying to eat a bit healthy). Chatham is probably my favorite place on the upper end of Mass Ave, of the restaurants I've visited, and I love stopping there before Murat shows and other events.

One star since there isn't an option for 0. The door says open until 3 tonight, yet when we walked in at 11:30 we were told we could "have a beer for the next 5 or 10 minutes." Not a great way to run a business. Won't be coming back.

Needed a food place on Mass Ave with alcohol last night and this fit the bill. I had heard from friends that it was a fun place to watch soccer and figured we would try it out. We were able to sit down right away and ordered drinks. $5 glasses of wine on Monday which was nice. We ordered 5 different ones and everyone enjoyed them. As far as eats, we ordered a burger (very boring, no fun spices in patty, but fries were good), a pizza (very excellent! loved the sausage, bacon and pepperoni), fish & chips (they have malt vinegar which is a must! also, the fish wasn't as fat as a lot of places, which gave a better fish to coating ratio), an apple and cheese sandwich (think it was liked, didn't hear many comments) and a pork tenderloin sandwich (solid) Service was a little slow after we ordered food but we had a good waitress who made sure we had all the drinks/refills we needed. Would go back, but no more burgers in our future!

This place gets 1 of these 5 stars for the damn decent support of Indiana craft beer. They often have some rare selections such as Zombie Dust and those Sun King seasonals that come and go in a blink. The second star is for their fish and chips. Quite different. And very grand. Instead of one or two massive pieces, these are served in multiples of small to mid-sized "fingers". The batter is out of this world. Rich and buttery, soft with some crunch in places. The fries are crisp and flavorful. The third star is for the cozy feel of the place. The floor, the walls, the set up. The football scarves covering the walls and the nod to local Indiana teams. The fourth is for the culture of the place. It stands nearly alone when it comes to "soccer bars". This place is like the heart of the soccer community. Everyone from in the know college students to 70 year old British expats call this place home. Everyone knows your name. The Cheers of football. And the fifth is for the fish and chips. Did I mention how wonderful they are?

Beer selection is good. Food is quality. Atmosphere is one of the best on mass ave. the staff is very friendly which makes the meal taste that much better. Wings are quality with good flavor. Always on the list for a quick pint after work.

Do you like awesome food? Perhaps a perfectly poured beer with that awesome food? What about a badass waiter that knows his/her shit about said awesome food and perfectly poured beer? If you answered yes, then Chatham Tap is the only place for you. If you answered no, please continue your walk to Kilroys. Chatham Tap FOREVER

St. George's Philly, recommended by our waitress, was delicious! I tried a Lloyds Double Chocolate Stout and a Fountain Square Amber Lager that was on tap. Good food and drink selections! It was packed for a soccer match, but a good environment to watch sports and brunch.

THE football (soccer) pub of Indy. They show lots of English Premier league games here which is fun. Lots of beers on tap. The menu is extensive. My first visit here was actually not for the footy but for the nachos! The sandwiches are excellent and everything is made to order and brought up from the basement kitchen without a long wait. Service is always attentive and friendly. My water glass, coffee cup, and/or beer mug never go dry before a server comes over to refill or take my order for something different. This place is rowdy when fans gather for a game, but thats part of the fun! There isn't a ton of seating so if you're showing up for a big match, get there early to make sure you can find a table or spot at the bar. I love that Chatham shares their slogan with Liverpool's footy team.... Cheers mates!

Delightful establishment with delightful food and sports viewing satisfaction. I visited Chatham Tap after hearing so much about their beverage selection right before the opening season Colts game, and boy was I amazed at the lack of a crowd! This was just awesome in my opinion and I hadn't even sat down and ordered yet! :) I tried the Greek Chicken Sandwich with the homemade potato chips and cole slaw and I can tell you that it was a very wise decision. A great suggestion from our waiter! He also provided us with 3-4 beer suggestions (it's game-day folks, of course beer is a necessity) and I enjoyed 2 out of the 3. The decor inside Chatham Tap is more of a rustic feel, almost as if it's meant for the blokes who want to watch a football (soccer) game. I felt comfortable there because there was a variety of things to watch on televisions, people walking the street on Mass Ave or even the people inside the pub talking to each other. It's a great little place that would be perfect for hosting groups, or just small parties wanting intimate meals and conversations. It's definitely on my lists of stops in this neighborhood.

Try the pizza. Try the wings. Try the sandwiches. Don't forget the beer. This place is a no-brainer for Indy visitors without a boatload of money. Good veggie options and something to please pretty much anyone. It's not the biggest bar, so it can get kind of crammed. If you don't want to wait awkwardly outside and you're with a big group, get there early to nab a table.

Maybe it was my mood or maybe it was a visit at shift change, but my visit was only okay. I did have a delicious Bass and an equally delicious hummus plate. Service was slow and I had to request service along the way. Pleasant enough bar and motif. With so many Mass Ave choices I'll probably venture down the street next visit.

I had a quite similar server experience to that of Kinsey E. I really felt like I was cramping her style by coming into a restaurant needing food and all. The place was pretty busy so I didn't dwell on her lack of smiles. Good news for Chatham is - they have one rockin' pear gorgonzola sandwich and a cozy atmosphere that resembles that of 8 out of 10 pubs in London. Between two slices of ciabatta bread is a generous pile of bacon, thinly sliced pears and rich gorgonzala. Perfect combination of sweet and salty. The interior is a soccer fan's haven with jerseys draped on the walls and games playing on multiple TVs. The walls are all wooden giving it an intimate and laid back feel. Chatham Tap is the kind of place where you don't feel rushed to get your food and drinks and get the hell out. If you're wanting some fresh air, the back patio offers a great people watching spot along the Cultural Trail.

Chatham Tap is a very solid option on Mass Ave. It is conveniently located on one of the busier sections of the neighborhood. The business is large, so there is rarely a wait. I had the roast beef sandwich. It was big and delicious. Chatham's homemade pub chips are top notch. My partner had a pizza with meat, peppers and a salad on top. Yes, a salad. Sounded crazy to me too, but it was actually quite delicious. As the name would suggest, they have a good (not great) selection of local and import beers both in bottle and on draft. They also typically have good drink specials. Service is generally very good with friendly and efficient staff and a fast kitchen. They even keep a variety of their small plates on offer late night. Note: if you don't like loud, this isn't your spot. Move along. There is also a well hidden bathroom in this place next to the bar. Kind of a nice touch haha.

The Good: Decent beer selection, flavorful sandwiches I had the greek sandwich which was a piece of chicken breast, feta, and veggies on rosemary bread. The sandwich was hard to eat because the thin regular sandwich style bread didn't do a good job of holding the contents inside, especially since the bread had some pretty big holes for a sandwich. The Bad: The potato leek soup tasted like someone had dumped an entire box of pepper in it. Basically it was a very thin soup with potato chunks and PEPPER. All I could taste was PEPPER. I might come here for a beer in the future... but the food.... especially something as basic as potato soup... was very disappointing. I probably won't be back for the food.

This place has much better-than-average bar food. I love the outdoor seating area, since it can get pretty packed and loud inside. Decent beer selection, and a great place to go if you do want to see a soccer game.

I stopped here right off a plane, it was a highly rated on yelp and I wasn't disappointed!!! I had the half order of fish and chips and they were amazing! Glad I didn't order the full order or else I would have stuffed myself silly. They are lightly battered but full of crunchy goodness without being too greasy

So much promise, so much grease. I walked into a cozy soccer pub in Indianapolis expecting to find pub fare and a decent beer, and in that I was not disappointed. The portabella mushroom fries were great, with a nice flavorful breeding and a slightly watery chipotle garlic ranch sauce, but the wheels fell off the cart with the fish and chips. They were simply dripping with oil to the point that it was just not going to be an option to finish them. I would just chalk it up to an off night in the kitchen, and while I will not go out of my way to come back, I won't actively avoid it.

I was craving some fish and chips during a trip to Indy so we Yelped and Chatham is where we ended up. It just so happened to be rainy and a bit cold so I ordered some clam chowder and Irish coffee to start. I was impressed with my coffee. It was perfect for a rainy day and the bartender seemed to really know what he was doing! My clam chowder ended up being some of the best I've had. The consistency was perfect; nice, thick and creamy, just how I like it and there were plenty of clams, unlike other "clam" chowders. My husband and I both ordered the fish and chips (lunch portion) and it was FAN-tastic!! The fish was cooked to perfection and the crust was nice and flaky and not greasy like it sometimes can be. It came with a side of slaw, of course, which was so tasty even the slaw-hater-husband ate it! We ate at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed the bartender's company since the place wasn't too busy at 2:00 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon. We ended up playing some trivia and important facts that everyone should know!! Quite interesting to say the least! If you're into scotch, the guy knows is Johnnie Walker trivia!! Fun times! Thanks guys! We shall return!

The Chatham is pretty nice, especially the patio in back if you're a dog owner (which I am). It's non-smoking now (as is all of Indianapolis) which is an added bonus. The pizzas are amazing (if you're a meat-lover, go for the Meaty Kuzola) and are huge. Burgers are always a hit as well.

I'm still a fan, but damn, the bathrooms are so freakin stinky! Why can't something be done about this? It's disgusting. Last night not only did I have to plug my nose when using the bathroom, but then the toilet water started randomly gurgling and splashed out of the bowl. It was kind of like the Toilet Man from the the movie "Look Who's Talking Too." I was terrified.

Chatham Tap is my go to spot in Indy. The food is always on point, they have one of the best beer selections in the city, and the service is definitely on par about 98% of the time. I highly suggest bellying up to the bar for the best service. The bartenders are always super helpful with making a decision on beer and they just pour you samples without you even having to ask for them. I always send people to Chatham if they're looking for a chill place to have a beer, good food, and just enjoy a game or some friendly conversation.

Duuuuuude! Chatham rocks! This english pub is alive and has a great feel. Ok so first lets get the beer out of the way. An excellent selection of taps, had bourbon county on the last time I was in just to drop a little name bomb on you, so ya you get it, they carry good stuff. The food is delicious as well (I know English pub? you wouldn't think) but I need to have a little real talk with you right now. I'm going to say it, yep I'm going to say it. Hands down the best house wings I have ever had. BOOM! Prince Dean's Angel Wings with the house sauce. They're crispy, sweet, spicy, bold, a little smokey I mean the adjectives are across the board with this stuff. If they sold this sauce I would stock pile it. They offer other sauces, which I've never had, but it dun mattah! I'm telling you...stick with the house. Obviously this is the only thing I get when I visit this place but I've had a few other items which were also tasty as well. The staff are really social and friendly. I will also recommend sitting at the bar top if traveling light. The female bartender is quick with drinks, pours, conversation and sarcasm if you're into the friendly banter cuz I'm in a pub kind of thing. This place is cozy so you may not be able to find a seat strolling in during peak times or on the weekends. The location is down Mass Ave. a little from the city but it fits right in with the quality nightlife scene of Mass Ave. I really enjoy this place every time I visit and wish I would have discovered it earlier. Cheers!

I will say that service is probably at a 3.5 on a good day (I've had mediocre servers both times I've been here) but their food is too delicious that I feel guilty giving Chatnam lower than a 4. Apparently this place is reviewed as top 10 sports bars in the US (if you like soccer...ahem, i mean Futbol) but regardless, really laid back atmosphere and good beer selection. Salmon sandwich, steak sandwich and my dear lord... that artichoke dip is a moz cheese lover's dream

I love this place! Really great bar food and the crowd is not too overwhelming for Mass Ave. this time I ordered the St. George Philly. At this point I feel like I have had every Sammie on the menu. So so good!

This is one of my go-to places on Mass Ave. It's a unique English football pub with a lot of character. It's incredible how many folks will pack into the little Chatham pub to hoot and holler for their favourite club across the pond or when our Stars & Strips crew is in action. The beer is always on point - a great selection of true English Ales, as well as some other unique imports. They also have quite a few local breweries available, usually running Sun King seasonals, which is awesome. The Garlic Cheese Fries are out of this world, they will not disappoint. I also really like the steak salad and the pizza is a solid choice for a group. The prices are reasonable for Mass Ave., I think it's just the right value for the location. I will say the service can be a little sketchy - it seems that the servers can just disappear for a while, just when you're ready to place an order or get another round. More attentiveness would be appreciated. I'm eager to see this place in action during World Cup, you just know it's going to be wild! Cheers.

The BBQ wings I had, though very sweet, were really good...The problem is that I ordered Buffalo wings...Was too hungry to send them back.... One full order is very filling. Apparently this is a Soccer bar.

Food was good but the bartender was rude to say the least. I didn't let her ruin my night but would have been a much better experience if the bartender wasn't yelling at the hockey game the whole night and was more attentive to our drinks. Would have been a 5 star if it weren't for her bad attitude.

  • Amanda F.

  • Billy V.

Great atmosphere, great food, great price. This place is packed during soccer games. Try their breadsticks. You won't regret it. I always get the earl club. Solid choice. Decent amount of vegetarian options, too.

Cheers.

  • Benjamin B.

Sorry

I love pubs and pub food and this is the best place in Indy. The atmosphere is great and food is excellent. I can't wait to go back.

Love the wings and fish and chips. Great small place...cozy. Laid back bar vibe.

  • Mak J.

The pizza is good. Arguably better than Bazbeaux. Yeah, I said it. Love that they have IPAs on tap and the cheese fries are satanically good. Love the Montauks as a brunch type dish. The service is amazing. A+. One of my favorite places downtown.

Chatham Tap is my favorite place to grab a bite to eat on Mass Ave. The service is typically great (unless the guy with the mohawk is your server) and their selection of beer is fantastic. Try the nachos or the pear & Gorgonzola melt!

  • DeAnna P.

This has a great feel and good food. We take guests here when they want a unique experience without having to leave their culinary comfort zone. Its selection of good quality entrees, good beers, tight-knit seating feeling, and decor make it a fun place to have a dinner with professional colleagues or a random uncle coming through town!

  • Yvonne M.

  • Shelly F.

  • Aric F.

    (5)
  • Danielle S.

    (4)
  • Richard H.

  • Daniel L.

  • Lizzie P.

I've only been here a couple of times but I really like the feel of it. The food has been really great, they have standard bar fare as well as some items that are a little out of the box for a pub. The staff is prompt and friendly.

    (4)
  • MJ W.

  • Katie B.

    (5)
  • Dan C.

  • Melissa H.

Cheers!
