Cafe Olivia is tucked in the back corner of the City Market. They have lots of sandwich options made with fresh, creative ingredients. When I was there, the staff was friendly and patient while I figures out what to try. I had the spicy Cajun turkey with mozarella, LTO and aioli on ciabatta bread. The sandwich was excellent and the ingredients were very fresh. The food is fairly priced and very filling. I'll definitely be back.

$5.50 for as much salad as you can pack into the Styrofoam box! Being the lettuce/salad snob that I am, I did a quick run through of the bar before pulling the trigger: chickpeas, kidney beans, spinach, peas, hard boiled eggs, beets, potato salad, pasta salad, cauliflower, broccoli, etc. You're set. Tucked away in the northeast corner of City Market, what Cafe Olivia lacks in style, it makes up for in speed, efficiency and price. The line was impressive during the lunch hour yet still moved along fairly fast. In the future I will have to try some of their hot menu dishes like red beans, rice and sausage, soups of the day, and sandwiches. I highly recommend Cafe Olivia if you're in a rush, not looking for frills and need something light and healthy to eat while on the go.

I had the Panino "Fresco" and it was the best lunch I've had in the US. You could tell that they were using real italian-style mozzerella and the whole thing was just very tasty. They included a cup of aioli which just made the panino even better - great place!

Had their Monday special Italian sausage and pasta as a to go. I would rate the food ordinary from all aspect. The Italian sausage itself was not particularly flavorful or spicy. The garlic was not sautéed well and id say the white wine used wasn't good enough. So the dish was not terribly to taste nor was it particularly tasty.

Excellent sandwich stop in City Market! I frequent the market for weekday lunches, and this is definitely in my Top 3 there. Turkey Cranberry is an old faithful, but I've never been disappointed with an order. Good service too. Just tried a breakfast sandwich... unbelievably delicious, so fresh!

This is my last week working at the City-County Building so I went to Cafe Olivia for one last City Market lunch. Today, I went whole hog and ordered the half-pound Angus burger (two stacked quarter pound patties, perfectly prepared) topped with Cheddar Cheese, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, and sauteed onions. What a sandwich! Not the kind of thing I would eat more than once a year, but it hit the spot and was well worth the caloric splurge! I'm moving on from downtown Indianapolis as a work location, but I'll never forget the variety and quality that Cafe Olivia always offered.

Definitely on par with the food choices at the City Market. I've usually hit the line as the lunch rush is stating to wane. Bring your patience and your wallet, but the payoff is good.

Hidden in the northeast side of The City Market, Café Olivia is a must try. Solid sandwiches, fairly priced and quick service. The Godfather sandwich is a must try. So much talian meat and veggies you can hear the bread ( and amazing bread it is) crying for help. Check this place out!

Cafe Olivia is the first place I've tried in City Market. I ordered the Le Poulet Panino. There was no line so I ordered immediately. The woman who took my order was very friendly and informed me they were out of their normal bread for this dish but could substitute the sandwich on a french baguette, works for me! It was delicious. Plenty of chicken that was seasoned nicely with a generous helping of provolone cheese and a tasty tomato pasta. Simple yet delicious. The Aioli that came with the sandwich was excellent as well. The sandwich was quite large for $8. Pretty good price for the size I'd say. I will definitely be back!

I came hungry for lunch. I ordered the pulled pork po' boy sandwich with their regular BBQ sauce (they also have a spicy and Carolina style). It is the best BBQ I've had besides my own. Great for lunch if you are downtown!

The food at Cafe Olivia is really good, the service is not. This is a business that cares more about pinching a penny than serving the customer. The owner runs the register while another man (presumably owner as well) barks orders at his workers and refuses to do anything extra even on request. Once the owner's daughter was working the register and I requested extra sauce, she told the man running the pass, however he refused to add the extra sauce, I told her I was happy to pay for it. Another instance, I asked the owner for extra sauce on the side, she was happy to charge me for the extra sauce, but then insisted that it could not be put on the side, the extra sauce would only have to go on the sandwhich. If you don't ask for anything extra or different, you are in good shape and your experience will be fine.... but don't bother them by asking for a side of sauce, it just can't be done!

Cafe Olivia is my favorite place to eat in the City Market. I think every sandwich they have is really good, but my favorite sandwich is only served on Fridays. On Fridays they have Tuna steak, Mahi Mahi, or Catfish Tempura sandwiches. My favorite is the Tuna steak sandwich medium so that it's a little pink on the inside. The price is very good and the taste is awesome. It is a local business and the owners are the cook and cashier-you can tell they care about the food and service. I could probably eat the Tuna steak sandwich every Friday for a long time.

During my recent visit to Indy for my Super Lady Friend's Science Conference I visited the City Market everyday. I was incredibly happy that we chose to visit Cafe Olivia during one of these visits. As soon as I read Catfish Po'Boy on the menu my decision was made. I was so overly consumed with my sandwich that I honestly have no idea what Alison ordered and ate. I know it was a sandwich and that she liked it though. The catfish on my Po'Boy was a bit greasy, I think they might have left it in the fryer a bit too long. But I also don't eat a lot of fried foods so its possible that I am overly sensative to that. Aside from that small error the sandwich was fantastic, I paired it with a Moustache Ride Red from Flat 12 Brewery served at the Tomlinson Tap Room. The two were a good pair. I can understand why some of the other reviewers say its the only reason they go to the market or the only place they visit. I am a bit more adventuresome, but given the chance I would certainly come back.

At least once a week I have to order one of the grilled tomato mozzarella sandwiches. My absolute favorite. Never disappointed in the food.

This place makes the BEST panini I've had in downtown Indy. Always fast, well priced, and delicious!

I loooove Cafe Olivia. Oh my, its the only reason I go to City Market. (although I'm sure the other places are good) I get the same thing from CO every single time I go to City Market. I get the rueben and the ham and cheese panini. Both are so damn good, I can eat them twice a week and not get tired of it. Its locally owned and excellent. I've tried the other sandwiches every once in a long while, or bring a date there....and they always love their meal too. I wish it was open past 2:00, I'd go there all the time if it was open late night. Trust me, try this place and you'll love it.

Very good sandwiches and by far the best food option in the City Market. My favorite is the mozzarella, tomato & zucchini sandwich. You order at the counter and then grab your food on the other end.

EVERY SANDWICH WE'VE TRIED IS DIVINE!!!!!!!!!!! we especially like the Mediterranean!!! (my fav), b/f loves the Reuben, i know the (usually Wed Special) is the Brazilian Black Bean with Roast Pork (YumO) & we love the soups, & they have a salad bar (i think the only salad bar in the City Market) & a small Boar's Head Meat / & Cheese selection on the side Great Staff, a family owned local business (the ones we need to support) Cafe Olivia was created in high spirit and with the aim of bringing a small piece of Province, France to the Indianapolis City Market. All dishes, soups, and roasted meats are made fresh on the premises. Taste delicacies such as Roast Beef and Gruyere Cheese and Prosciutto, Provolone and Spinach Sandwiches. From fresh fruit to omelets, breakfast is served daily cafeolivia.com
