Burgerhaus Menu

Diabetics at Whataburger

Diabetics need to be a bit cautious while dining at Whataburger. Almost every burger is rich in sodium content and it is highly recommended to keep your burger cravings in control while dining at Whataburger. However, you can always satisfy your cravings for a burger by choosing Whataburger Jr. or other non-burger items from the menu.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for Diabetics:

A diabetic should resist from ordering any extra meat-based burger such as Double Meat Whataburger or Triple Meat Whataburger to limit the sodium intake and calories. Most burgers except the Whataburger Jr. are high in sodium and hence should be avoided.

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. You should also avoid Avocado Bacon Burger and Monterey Melt as both these burgers contain a high amount of fat. Sweat & Spicy Bacon Burger will add extra 1080 calories in your diet so skip that as well. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Lastly, avoid French Fries and Onion Rings at Whataburger if you are already ordering a burger or any other heavy meal.

Great burgers and the fries are terrific. Love the atmosphere as well...good to see some restaurants setting up on the canal.

  • Jacob M.

A bit too pricey for the quality offered. There are better burgers to be had in Indy (20 Tap, Bru, and 5 guys all come to mind) but if you have a little cash to spend and are on the canal it's a great place to eat. I've had the Monaco (white cheddar, onions, mushrooms, avocado, pretzel bun) and the American (bacon, bleu, caramelized onion, mayo, mustard) and both are perfectly good if a bit overcooked. Each of those is a $12-14 treat with one side and extra charge for almost any upgrade.

Wonderful food, atmosphere and service! Love the location with a wonderful view of the canal. Looking forward to going back soon.

I have been to Burgerhaus many times and have always had a great experience. However, this time we had a large group and a new server who was very nice, but not very attentive. The food was also not as consistent as usual. The ahi, that I'm usually asked how I'd like it cooked was overcooked for two of us. On a positive note, the one individual who had a burger really liked it. I will continue to come here as I think this was just a bad day.

Recently in town and was looking for a cool place to dine. The atmosphere, location, and ambience of the place was perfect. Great place to have a few beers and dine. Had the bruschetta appetizer and liked it. The burgers we had were good, but nothing spectacular. Again really cool place with good food. Just don't expect it to be the best burger you've ever had.

  • Tyler J.

This place was a total disappointment. Cold fries and really terrible service. I couldn't possibly recommend this place to anyone.

  • Emily T.

The service we experienced was not awful, but there was far better to be had. For an empty Friday night we ended up having to wait over 10 minutes for our check to be picked up. The waitress also rudely called my boyfriend and I "kiddos" as we were leaving. We are both over 21 and most likely older than her, that was not appreciated. The food looked great coming out, but lacked a lot in taste. The music playing was dull and drab. Overall, I will not be coming back and would much rather go to someplace like Bru Burger on Mass Ave next time I am craving one.

  • T D.

Solid burger. A bit on the greasy side, but delicious. The bun was fresh, and the fries salty good. Caramel shake was light on the caramel flavor, heavy on the chunks of ground up chocolate? pieces, so it was quite good. Service was almost TOO attentive in that we didn't need to be asked if we needed anything every 5 minutes. Parking is available in an attached garage.

I was told I would eat the best burger in town. On my first and last visit, I was truly unable to enjoy it due to some of the worst service I've had in Indy. From the time we sat down, it took 50 minutes to get this great burger. We saw the waiter twice in that 50 minutes. Oh, did I say great burger? Well it would have been great but the waiter got 1 out of 2 orders wrong. Take all that and add one of the loudest environments for a restaurant you've ever heard. And I also left a comment card to call me and never got that call.

Excellent burger and choice of fries. Burger just the right size - excellent atmosphere.

We just got home from here. Easter Sunday afternoon. It was a beautiful day outside and we had been walking on the canal and decided to grab a burger here. We had never dined here before and had heard good things so we opted to eat here. We sat out on the patio and what an amazing view, sitting directly on the canal and people watching. This had to be one of the best burgers that we have ever had. Normally comes with fries but for a couple bucks you can upgrade so we did and opted for the chili cheese fries and those were awesome as well. Wish they had Pepsi products but alas they have Coke. Service was good. It was also nice to see them all wearing buttons saying that "We serve everyone" in light of the heated religious freedom stuff going on. Was our first visit but definitely will not be our last. What a gem located right on the canal in the downtown area with lots to do once finished but we recommend sitting a while before taking off down the canal after a heavy meal.

Excellent flavorful burgers!!! Small simple menu with a great selection of appetizers, burgers, and more. Try the Tuscan burger it's amazing!!!

  • Fred P.

Great canal location. Nice atmosphere and the layout is warm and comfortable. Nice bar to the right by the entrance. Good beer selection and the burgers are very good. The canal has needed exactly this type of mid-range high quality restaurant and bar.

  • Mark V.

I have been here twice now and they are starting to get the kinks worked out of the new restaurant. The beer selection is really improving; but the appetizer menu has a lack of creativity. For create-your-own or any of the chef 'burgers' we have been satisfied with the taste. A few of the larger burgers can get a bit on the messy side if you are not careful! I would recommend upgrading the french fries as the basic version is a bit bland. The staff is young and fairly inexperienced. I would grade the service at a C. The main attraction is the outside seating along the canal. For that alone I give it 3.5 stars.

  • Erin R.

We stopped her based on Yelp reviews and am so happy that we did!! We got sat almost immediately on the patio that overlooked the canal. It was beautiful and our server did a great job! No complaints with the service what so ever! We got the chips and guac as an appetizer. The chips came out warm and all was good but nothing special. We got the lettuce wraps which were amazing and the special burger of the month which was just okay. My burger on the other hand "the Santiago" was so flavorful with some heat from the jalapeños! Garlic Parmesan fries, Cajun fries and regular were all delicious!!! Portion sizes are large. We will return again!

I walk past this place on the canal almost every day and never thought anything of it until a friend invited my fiance and I on a double date there. We made reservations for Saturday around 7:30 and it was a good thing because the place seemed to be almost completely full. There is a patio but we sat inside in a nice dark booth. The service was friendly and frequent enough that I never had to look around wondering where our waiter was. (His name was Jameson but when we tried to order a round we were informed that they only serve wine and beer.) Speaking of beer, the selection is pretty good. There are quite a few IPAs, some Scottish ales, a couple of Sun King beers, etc. There are even pairing suggestions on the menu under each burger! The burgers themselves were amazingly bountiful for the price. I don't eat meat so I tried the black bean burger on the Salomanca(?) burger which I absolutely loved. It still had that grilled taste and came with salsa verde and a delicious pretzel bun. Everyone who tried the normal meat patties were impressed, and you should see the size of the double! They've got a lot besides burgers too like salads and such but I'm not writing all that out cause that's what menus are for. Try the mac and cheese though. Seriously, its so much better than the fries.

My family and I enjoyed dinner here after a long day on the road. It was easy to get to, but be careful in the parking garage. Spaces are *very* narrow! We scraped the trim off our car door and it killed our mood. Thankfully the food was pretty great. They have a very creative menu. Our waitress was awesome getting ice cream for the kids. We were sore about the damage to our car, but this place helped us calm down a little.

I was worried about finding this place since everybody warned me about parking and trying to find an entrance. Well I came down 9th street as my GPS suggested. I eyeballed the parking garage for a moment, saw a small sign that said something like 'parking for Burgerhaus' and so I thought I should try this venue. Once I entered the garage, there were giant signs to parking for Burgerhaus. The trick is to go low enough. you may think you have reached the lower level 2, but you haven't until you see the gianormous sign pointing to the Burgerhaus entrance. Smart as I am, I took my parking ticket with me and presented it to the hostess. (Keep in mind the parking garage entrance is actually the back entrance so you have to make your way past the bar to the hostess stand to be seated.) I was given a parking pass that covers 2 hours of parking, so it should be plenty of time to eat there and maybe even wander along the canal a bit. The restaurant itself is nicely done, and the view of runners and otherwise exercising folks is... well... enticing... The burgers are fabulous, sloppy to eat. I can't even remember what the name of my burger was, but it had Mozzarella, tomatoes, spinach and other things on it. It was a slippery drippy yummy mess, which covered my hands and face and was a pure joy to eat. Beer and wine selection is fabulous and the service was great.

Bruburger on the canal. Similar ambience even though the decor is different. Both waiters complained about being tired. Hey waiters! When you ask, "How are you? " And we say, "Fine. How are you? " just lie. We don't care. Take our order, get our food, and act like you love doing that. Best burger joint in Indy is still Boogie Burger.

  • Sunah K.

Burgers are huge and juicy. Mine was a little undercooked but I didn't really mind. Does remind me of bru, but the canal sorely needs more retail/ eateries like this. Decent beer selection. Prices are on the higher end, but the portions are pretty big. I also tried the fish tacos, which were ok- a little heavy on the slaw. Fries are great. Machu Picchu chili fries were a bit tomatoe-y for me. Everyone was very friendly when I went. Nice that there's indoor garage parking with direct entry (LL 2) Esp during the winter, so go anytime, not just when you're walking the canal! FYI- they will only validate parking during lunch, not dinner, but there's also nearby street parking. Ps, looks like a coffee bar is going to be opening in the building soon, too!

  • Jon F.

This place is fantastic! The burger I had was delicious, and the fries are great too. Try the Blue Cheese fries. Also, they have Bourbon Barrel Ale. Overall, the ambiance is really nice, the service is quick and friendly, and the location (right by the canal) is great too.

Fiance and I stopped in after a nice bike ride on the canal. Great location to start with. Can do outside which gives you an outside view is the canal and great for people watching, if you like that. For single guys, great to have a women's only crossfit gym literally next to the restaurant. The burgers are very good, suggest going with one of those. We split three of them and all three were very good. Came with a very nice presentation of fries in a cool basket. Overall quality experience.

While you can walk right into this restaurant from the Canal Walk, it's a little tricky to find if you're entering from the street. You have to go into the 9 on Canal apartment building, then go down two flights of stairs (or the elevator) and through a parking garage to find the entrance. But it's worth the expedition. Inside is a cozy little burger bar with a decent selection of beer and a pretty good-sized hamburger menu. Service is good and reasonably quick, and the burgers are definitely well-made. They start around $9 and go up, which is what you'd expect for a made-to-order burger place like this. It's not fast food! One word of warning: when they ask you how you want your burger cooked, they MEAN IT. I'm used to burger places that decline to cook your burger below medium due to food safety. So rather than try to figure out what the minimum was, I just said, "As rare as is safe." I got a burger that was done on the outside but pink and gooey in the middle. I can't really complain; that's what I asked for, and it was a good burger. Just a little disconcerting, is all. I guess I'll ask for medium rare next time. Note that their free Wi-Fi requires a Facebook sign-in with optional check-in. Folks who don't like Facebook probably won't be too thrilled with that.

Nice location, cozy ambience, and delicious food. I have my birthday party w/ 17 people at Burgerhaus and the process was very smooth (thank you!) I've always ordered burger but their salad / veggie options are really fresh and delicious too! Also, try Sangria!

Amazeburgerz! Just visited from Tampa and these burgers are, without a doubt, heaven-on-a-brioche-bun. Super tasty and super tender and totally worth the 933 mile trip up here. The haus fries and onion rings were delectable as well. TAKE ALL MY STARS, BURGERHAUS!!! you totally deserve it :D

  • Sadiya A.

This place was pretty good! I liked the selection of beers as well as the location. We had a group of 9 and each got a different burger, each liked the selections they chose. I will definitely be back to try the other choices! Good place if you're craving a burger on the Canal!

I so excited to have another restaurant on the canal! Ever since Creation Cafe closed and the hopes of another restaurant going in its place were squashed, I have been wondering if there would be another option on the canal. Burgerhaus has answered that calling. I was in there on a Sunday after a Colts game and was surprised to see that it was pretty much empty. It is a little dark inside, which is a little off putting but you can get your people watching in while you are there as people pass buy on the canal. They do have a small bar area and have a decent selection of beers available. I only tried a couple of appetizers, so I can't give an opinion on the actual burgers. I will say that their tried pickles do give Scotty's a run for their money and the chips and guac is decent. I will have to come back another time for that burger!

  • Dwayne R.

This was my first time dining at the restaurant. The food and service was very good. We started on the option, but Mother Nature had different plans. Great selections of beer. Walk the canal before and after your meal to burn calories. The garlic Parmesan fries are delicious. We will be back.

  • Lauren M.

Staff is always friendly and my orders are filled pretty quickly for such a busy restaurant. I really enjoyed the pickle chips and different specialty burgers that they offer. The location can't be beat. The only issue is that if you want to park right by the restaurant, there are usually no spots available at nine on canal so you have to pay to park in the parking garage. The restaurant is located on LL2, which can be confusing for people in the parking garage. I would recommend parking somewhere on the canal and just walking around until you want to eat.

Go for the burgers, come back for the a Machu Picchu chili! I find myself craving it way too often!

A great addition to the canal! This is a delicious, cozy and approachable little burger restaurant. Finally, there's a restaurant at the end of the canal again. I ordered the Burger Haus burger, it was mouthwatering. The southwest slaw was also delicious and my friends loved the sweet potato fries. The ambiance here is great-kinda dim, wooded, very modern. Cozy. Love that it opens up right to the canal. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Would definitely go back!

I enjoyed a great first lunch at this hidden gem today. Speaking of hidden, I hope their location doesn't slow them down. The location on the canal will be great to enjoy during the warmer months, but it's a little out of the way for winter. The garage parking is nice, but the garage itself is strangely designed and a little cramped if you're driving more than a small car. This matters since you have to find your way down two levels. The validation by the restaurant made up for this minor inconvenience. I love the atmosphere. Rough hewn finishes and the half underground floor level lend a feeling of escape. The booths are great if you're looking for a little privacy, but did mean my drank sat empty for a bit until the server happened by to notice. I ordered the Tuscan medium well. The burger was delicious although cooked past medium well (I accept responsibility for ordering past medium!). The combination of ingredients was superb and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the tomato for this time of year. The balsamic reduction, which was a nice touch, didn't seem to be much of a reduction as it dripped from my slightly soggy bottom bun. The blend of flavors more than made up for these minor flaws. Overall, I really enjoyed my lunch and will definitely be back to try more of the craft burgers that make up the great menu!

Good burger. Nice staff. A bit hard to find and the parking garage is a maze, but it was definitely worth it. Was worried about it taking a long time, but it actually was pretty quick. Love that they are participating in Devour Downtown!

I really enjoyed this place. Ordered the Monoco and was very pleased with how it tasted. You can taste the robust-ness of the patty they used and the pretzel bun they used complimented the burger well. My boyfriend also enjoyed his burger just as much as I enjoyed mine. He ordered their 'burger of the month' which came with ahi tuna instead of the usual beef patty. The fries that came with our orders were delicious as well. Service was great. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgable. If you drive here, they do validate up to 2 hours of parking for you (definite plus!). Also, being located by the canal is awesome. It is a walkable distance away from where we live and we will definitely be back again.

Couldn't be happier we stumbled upon this place while wandering the canal. The food selection was great. The Mac and cheese as a side is a must and the artichoke dip was a fabulous starter that is great for my lactose intolerant husband!

Wow! My wife and I visited burgerhaus in the late afternoon after looking up on Google the best burgers in Indianapolis. Situated on the canal there is a great view but the best part was the food! The service was the next best thing. The burger ingredient combinations well also mouthwatering, that it was difficult to choose which to order. This was one of the best, and simplest, and tastiest eating experiences of my life.

This was a solid dinner experience! It started with a really pleasant parking set up--you can park in the attached garage, and Burgerhaus will validate it for up to two hours. Awesome. We sat pretty close to the doors (brr!) so I didn't get a great look at the whole place, but I liked what I saw--that rustic/urban decor that's kind of all the rage right now with some pretty cool map art. We were seated immediately on a Saturday at 6pm. I had the Monaco (cheddar, sautéed onions and mushrooms, avocado, and arugula on a pretzel bun....sans mayo for me). I thought this was pretty solid burger--toppings were all great (though I could've used more mushrooms and avocado). I asked for the burger to be cooked medium, and I was satisfied, though I won't say it's the best burger I've ever had. The pretzel bun was yummy. It also came will some tasty pickles. I like the option on the menu to sub the burger for other meats/veggie options; next time I might get the Monaco but with a chicken breast instead. I was pleased that the burger came with fries, though I'm suspicious that they were originally frozen. I was expecting fresh cut with some killer seasoning! I would be interested in trying some of their other sides (sweet potato fries, mac and cheese, etc.). There were also some tasty-looking onion rings on the appetizer menu. The service was good, potentially bordering on over-attentive. At $13 for my meal, I do think it's a little pricey, though if you consider that each burger includes fries and you're parking downtown for free, I'm OK with it. There was enough food that I felt just stuffed enough. Ultimately, I think Burgerhaus beats Bru (there, I said it!). I think the menu is reasonably creative--interesting ingredient combos, doesn't over-rely on bacon (though I do love bacon), and just comes off as pretty nice quality pub food. I would certainly come back here.

Very tasty burgers. And the appetizers are huge! Nice little setting on the canal, too. This place deserves more attention.

Ok. This place was awesome. Just the right service check in with us. Had the Tuscan tasty burger with a smooth Bells Amber. Perfect. My meal mate had the Monaco Burger and was equally pleased with the taste and serving size of his Cajun fries. Definitely worth finding. Cannot wait till the summer strollers give a people watch opportunity from the patio.

I'm giving it five stars this time because the outside seating was amazing and pretty funny their was a cross fit next door but man their burgers taste amazing as hell wow and I love their sweet potato fries and prices are not bad definally.my favorite burger place with buds in indiana

  • Sherri C.

Had lunch here. This place might be Indy's sleeper. Great burger! I'm not a burger eater but this one was tasty. It had bite from arugula, creaminess from avocado/aioli and smokiness of mushroom on pretzel bun. I opted for Mac and cheese as side. Really good. Yum! My new fav burger in town. They're opening patio in a few weeks which has a view of the canal. So excited this new place is in town. Owners also donates to a charity to feed kids. Such a cool place!!

Burgerhaus is a great option for an upscale burger place. The menu is fun, with a featured "burger of the month" and specialty toppings like fried jalapeños and chorizo. I've tried the Haus fries and the sweet potato fries, and both are really good (especially the sweet potato fries, which, to me, taste like candy). I can't give it 5 stars for two reasons: I think it's a little overpriced - $14 for the priciest burger plus a $2 up charge for anything other than Haus fries - and I can go down the street and get a similarly unique and high quality burger from Bru Burger on Mass Ave. Regardless, I definitely recommend giving it a try, especially when you can sit out on the patio during the warmer months.

One of the best burgers I have has in Indy. I personally feel this places blows Bru Burger out of the water. I got the Tuscan burger which was delicious and moist. Layers of flavor, sweet tangy balsamic, creamy fresh mozzarella, fresh baby spinach, the perfect amount of tomato all on top of the well seasoned beef patty. It also comes with fries which you could up grade to one of their speciality fries. Nice wine selection and bigger beer list. Also they validate parking so not only is parking in the garage easy, it's free! I will never go back to Bru Burger again. In fact I'm considering going back today for lunch. So many burgers to try!

Better than BruBurger, but not quite my favorite (that belongs to Boogie Burger). They have very tasty creations, delicious fries and were an excellent price during Devour Downtown (2 for $20 - can't beat it!). They also were a good place to bring the kids - while enjoying a beer from their very decent selection of beers. We will definitely come back.

It's okay place. Burger joint Bartender is cool, but there is a horrible smell... loke backed up sewage and the bar is kinda sticky .... get food to go.

You may have read that it is a little bit of an adventure finding this place. Well, it is worth the looking. No problem to find if you enter from the canal, however. Anyway, my dining buddy and I really enjoyed it. We sat at the bar and Chad gave us great service and was friendly and attentive. We shared the Haus Fries with spicy blue cheese. Very good. My friend had the Ahi Tuna and loved it. I had the Haus Burger with a bean burger substituted. It was good. We both had the Southwest Cole Slaw, which was very tasty. They have a good beer selection. I look forward to warm weather when being on the canal can be enjoyed. Parking in the garage, up to two hours, is complementary. Be sure to get a pass.

Prices are decent and food is fair but can't hold a candle to some of the burger joints Indy has to offer (dreaming of BRU). The saving grace is that they often have Zombie Dust which is a craft beer lover's favorite.

Sadly to say the burgers were OK, the fries were not as good as I expected. Service was slow.. No one seemed very attentive to their tables.. The food took awhile. There are plenty of other burger places in Indy that I would defiantly choose over this.. Overall, food was bland and service inadequate

This place is just as the stars describe, "A-ok". The food was decent, the service was decent, the parking was a bit confusing but manageable. Nothing out of the ordinary and no "WoW" factor. Will I be back? Probably not for the rest of the winter, its a bit off the beaten path. Once it warms up and people are strolling down the canal, I may remember it is there and jump inside for a burger.

Let me preface this review by sharing the staff did have a loss that they had learned about that morning so this may not have been a great day for a review. I will give them another try but probably not on a day when I'm in a hurry. We made reservations on open table for 11:30. At 12:40 the manager came over to apologize that we had not received any food. We had a meeting at 1 so had to leave. He did box up our food and comp the ticket. Half the order was missing and it was a kind gesture but there wasn't time to eat even boxed until an hour later. The decor is gorgeous. Drink selection is good. But I find it is pretty similar to a lot of other places around town and feels more like an impersonation of others that have perfected it rather than an original to add to my list.

Very good, but it's no Bru Burger. First off, it's a little hard to find. The entrance is literally on the canal. So after you go down the steps towards the canal it's on the left. My fiancé and I went in on a Sunday about 10 minutes after they opened and service was really slow. Took about 10 minutes for anyone to even realize we were there to seat us. Service didn't pick up much after that and at one point our waitress even noted that she felt she had been neglecting us. But onto the burgers! My fiancé and I both got the Haus Burger. The waitress didn't ask how we wanted our burgers cooked but we still asked for them to be medium. When they came out they were somewhere between medium well and well done. Which is a shame because the burgers were very good and would have been really really good had they been cooked correctly. The bun was warm and soft and the French fries were good too, but hardly salted. All together, it's a very good burger joint that will probably be especially neat in the summer. But to me, they can't compete with bru burger, who consistently cooks their burgers to perfection and has good service. It's worth checking out for sure, but it won't be my go-to burger place in indy. Burgers- 4/5 Service- 2/5 Atmosphere- 5/5

Absolutely delicious. we used to eat at their Valparaiso location. This place didn't disappoint! The sweet potato fries are to DIE for!

The burgers and selection was wonderful! The burger was so juicy and fresh. The burgers were well when asked for medium and medium well but rather it be over done than underdone with burgers. The fries were not as good as I expected but by no means did the meal disappoint. Service was great and workers were friendly. We will definitely come back again!

My husband and I checked out Burgerhaus last night. We were not disappointed! We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip, which was fantastic. It was different than any spinach artichoke dip I've had before. Huge chunks of artichoke and real, fresh spinach. Not as thick and dip-like as others I've had, but fresh and delicious! I ordered the Monaco, and it most definitely made my top five best burgers I've eaten list. Whatever the fine wine mayo is that they put on this burger, I need it on all of my food. Classic cheddar cheese, grilled onions and mushroom burger, but with a fancy twist and avocado. My husband decided to go with the classic Haus burger, which he enjoyed, but you can't go wrong with your classic burger. Meat was juicy and tasty and cooked perfectly. We will definitely being going back.

The best burger in Indianapolis. I have now been three times in the last couple of months, I've gotten a different burger every time, and I am yet to be disappointed.

Burgerhaus is a great place for burgers, and they have several delicious styles. The fries are amazing, as well, making for a rather tasty combination. There are other food items on the menu, but I'm not sure why you'd get them at a burger place. They also have a good beer selection, including Sun King, Three Floyds, and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel ale, which is delicious. The location is great right on the canal. There is also outdoor seating, which is perfect for the summer. I'm sure I'll be coming back for more great food.

Location and atmosphere were great. Service was pedestrian. Hamburger was bland, un-seasoned, under cooked, greasy (hands absolutely covered, dripping into puddle on plate) machine formed and way over priced. Had to power through the last two bites with a lot of catsup. Went with two friends, only difference for them was one was over cooked. Sweet potato fries not worth $2 up charge, blue cheese fries went half uneaten. Good place for a beer on the canal if you are already there, save money and the hassle of getting there for lunch or dinner, there are much better burger choices dowtown.

This joint (jibby jabby) is Awesome! The staff is incredible and super nice. The food is awesome, its called Burgerhaus, obviously their burgers are incredible but the fried pickles are the best that I have tasted. I was talking to the owner Evan C. (Great guy) and they did extensive research not only on the type of pickle but also on the type of batter they use to fry it to reach the maximum taste to satisfy the customer (excellent outcome). Beyond incredible. Will definitely go back when I visit Indie, I have also visited the Valpo location. Both are great! Great value to the burger/atmosphere!

The burgers are fantastic, as they should be, right? Take note, they'll cook it to your temperature preference. . . and get it right. Oh, just me that orders a medium burger to get it med-well almost everywhere?? I've done it twice here, and both times it's come out as ordered, now I know! Lettuce wraps are good, not spectacular. Order the grilled cheese!

I really enjoyed my experience. The fact that is on the canal is a great bonus for warmer months. I was lucky to visit right before Indy decided to get all cold, like it does. Anyway, we started with the chips and guac---excellent. For my main dish I enjoyed the American burger it was cooked as I asked and the bacon was an added bonus. The fries are quite tasty as well. My friends loved their meal too. Drinks---gumball head---on tap?! Yes please!!!! My only complaint is that the service was a little weird, errr maybe it was just our server that day. Overall, great place to try in indy. Don't be afraid of the cold, the inside is beautifully decorated and very cozy. I will def be back.

First time eating here and really enjoyed it. Ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer. They were ok but a little too thick and a wee bit greasy, but not bad. The burger we had was well prepared and very tasty. Great service too.

Eh, I hope for this place that spring and summer time it brings life to the staff and in general the place. It was dim and quite boring for my liking. Our server was more worried about getting us out of there rather then letting us dine that it made our experience not fun. Food was good and I will most likely try again.

The canal has needed a spot for food, and it's certainly easy enough to park on Senate or 9th and walk a block to the stairs which descend to this cozy burger joint. (Parking is also available in the apartment building's garage, which I assume has an elevator to the canal level.) Still, I'm not sure that burgers are what will lure customers to the canal as we move into autumn and winter -- seems like a slightly risky endeavor. The bar is perfect for local residents and office workers as well as visitors to nearby hotels (beer and wine only). Still, we enjoyed the burgers very much -- the ingredients on the specialty burgers really came together, so the burgers weren't messy but were all of a piece, and the pretzel bun in particular was quite good. The fries seemed like fries you could get almost anywhere -- I am not convinced they didn't come from some food service. You can get "specialty fries" instead, but the server didn't know how much of an upcharge that would be. The server, in fact, seemed confused by a lot. And others were cleaning and vacuuming, which really annoys me for some reason. (Can't they wait until the patrons leave?) The comparisons to Bru Burger are inevitable and understandable. I am not so fastidious about burgers that I would go out of my way for the perfect one (although Fat Dan's and Twenty Tap serve pretty fine ones), but I might choose Burgerhaus over Bru when burgering downtown because it seems much easier to get into and the street parking is free. And unlike Bru and Punch Burger, you get sides or cole slaw included with the burger. Still, price points are very similar, and Punch is a little cheaper.

Had a bad experciece here a couple months back because of something that happened prior to our meal that caused us to leave before even ordering, and to write a review on here talkng about what happened. I was pleasantly surprised when I received an almost immediate response to my concerm from the manager addressing the issue and promising a resolution. Was finally able to get back last week and we had a wonderfully experience. We sat at a table in the bar and enjoyed great food and service. This place moves right back to a 5 star for me!!!!

Burger was AMAZING. People, are you listening?! AMAZING. Just to get the bad out of the way, it's hard to find, not fun to walk to if it's cold/rainy/snowy and parking is a mystery. You're just going to have to deal with it. They validate parking at a certain garage (9 on Capital or something? Call them to be sure!) and it's worth it! Get out of your comfort zone and keep our local restaurants alive. Also, they donate money to a kids charity with every burger purchase. Now, back to the best part. The food is freakin' awesome! Fries were awesome, burger was SO GOOD. We didn't wait at all, almost no crowd at 10:00 on Saturday night when we went. Unacceptable, citizens of Indy. Fresh, friendly, delicious. Go now.

This was an excellent place for Devour Downtown! The spinach and artichoke dip appetizer was good, but the stars were the pita chips - delicious! I had the turkey burger; it was large enough for a small family. Ha! My boyfriend had the one with pineapple - the beef was so good and the toppings were excellent. I had fries with mine, and the presentation was good. Fries were just okay. His coleslaw was excellent, though. Service was fabulous, too! Prices were reasonable and location is great (along the canal). Would definitely recommend and we will return.

I made reservations here for Valentine's Day with my husband. We LOVED it!! We had a hard time deciding which burgers to try and will definitely be back to try more. The service was awesome. The entire staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. We are looking forward to coming back again soon!

The restaurant was nice. . Good atmosphere. However, we didn't love much else. Didn't love the draft list. Our appetizer came out the same time as our entree. Our burger and fries were cold. Service was slow even when though they weren't busy. Probably won't be back since burgers were about $13. We'll stick with BRU Burger.

The service was a little slow but apparently they were a little understaffed and with Devour going on. Once we got our orders in though, the food came out pretty quick and was great. Awesome burgers and fries, decent wine and beer list, homemade pita chips? That was a new one for me but they pulled it off. Meant to try the milkshakes but The Santiago beat me. Definitely would recommend it or anything else on a pretzel bun. Also, will be returning.

I had a very relaxing dinner here with some friends Saturday night. The patio was absolutely beautiful with the canal and the strings of lights. I had a chicken sandwich with a side salad and it was pretty delicious. Their balsamic vinaigrette was really thick which wasn't my favorite, but I would definitely go back. The only reason I'm giving 4/5 stars is that their was a raging party in the apartments above with some crazy music playing and kids singing along. It was a beautifully romantic atmosphere... Except for that. I know its not their fault but having a little mood music, maybe even a band, would've given it that 5 star.

This is a really fun location and the food is good! Free Parking is also a bit of a fun experience as you drive underground and end up next to the restaurant so weather is not an issue going to eat out. It is located by the canal which makes for a nice walk after dinner. The burger is good and the sweet potato fries are great but tell them to hold the sugar the fries are good without it.

If you are looking for a patio, Burgerhaus has one of the best in the city. Located right off the canal this offers prime people watching. Their Haus Burger was good and I'm not one to usually order a burger so that's saying a lot. We also loved their Saka Tuna appetizer; definitely recommend trying it. Noticed they offer the tuna as an option in their tacos; I will be getting that next time! Also love the fact that for every burger enjoyed at a Burgerhaus, they provide a balanced meal to a hungry child. Nice concept! And to top it all off our server Jamison was great! Can't wait to return.

I decided to give this place a second chance this past weekend. I first came during devour downtown and I believe they had just opened up. They had some kinks they needed to workout and it was devour so places get busy. I was a little reluctant when we walked in because the place was dead and it was 6:45 and didn't really get much busier the rest of the time I was there. But,I am happy I went back. I really want the Canal to live up to the potential it could be and Burgerhaus is a great start to that. The outside seating is much bigger than I thought it would be so good job Burgerhaus for that! I am a vegetarian so I had the Mediterranean Portebello. It was hard not to compare this to Bru Burger since it's practically the same menu item. I think I prefer Bru Burger's sauce they use for the sandwich and the fact there is less bread but I was still happy with my sandwich from Burgerhaus. The fries were really good and that made me stop thinking about Bru Burger. I highly recommend getting a couple of their aoilis for the fries! Very good!! Wait staff was very attentive. A+ to them. All in all, it's hard for me to decide between this place and Bru Burger since to me it's the same concept and same restaurant. It's always nice to change things up a bit though and I will definitely be back to Burgerhaus to enjoy the canal.

A couple weeks ago I went to this restaurant for a friends birthday and was pleasantly surprised! Upon hearing the name I thought it was going to be a cheap burger dive and was not very excited, but boy was I wrong! Burgerhaus is located close to downtown Indianapolis right on the Canal Walk. The location is awesome, providing a nice view of the canal and is an optimal spot for people watching during the summer. The only issue with the location is that parking is a huge pain and in order to get to the restaurant it's a bit of a walk. Since the restaurant is called Burgerhaus I decided to go with the namesake and get a burger. The items were a bit pricey but after one bite of my burger I quickly realized why. I am a huge fan of cheeseburgers and the Burgerhaus burger has officially made it into my top 3 favorite cheeseburgers in the world, which is a pretty big deal! The burger comes with French fries but I opted to pay a little more for the onion rings, which was a phenomenal decision on my part. I highly recommend this place and plan to go back very soon.

Decided to update my review after today's visit for lunch. Was able to sit outside and enjoy the view on the canal. As I previously stated, it's a great location. Our server was fantastic. He whipped our 4 top in and out and gave us great service. All in my party were very pleased with that the burgers were prepared at the requested temperatures, and the beef had a great flavor. Tried the Machu Picchu fries, and they were fantastic! If you are a chili cheese fry lover, I highly recommend them. They validate parking for the first two hours, so parking in the garage is no big deal!

Meh about sums it perfectly for Burgerhaus. I arrived with a group of friends (5 total people) a couple hours before the Indiana micro Brewers festival in military park. H restaurant had a decent number of covers, but no business outside. I ordered the special burger which came with pulled pork and onion rings on it, minus the mayo. I also subbed chicken for the burger. I wouldn't complain about the dry chicken, but my sandwich came out with the mayo on it and the onion rings were soggy, cold, and gross. For only being 1/3-1/2 full at lunch on a Saturday, I was pretty let down by the service. We put in our orders, got our food, and got the bills. I'd go back if someone else picked it, but it wouldn't make my top list of suggestions in the area.

3.5 stars with a small round down because my least favorite thing was my burger at a burger house (haus?). Indy needed a place like this on the canal - the location is perfect, the place feels new and modern, lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The theme of different cities locations to name the burgers is pretty creative, and the menu feels about the right size with different options if you're not going the burger route. The fries were fantastic - really good, with a great chipotle sauce too. The burger was just ok - I went with the American, so pretty boring - and service was solid, except everyone seemed really confused about what tables food was supposed to go to. One sentence summary: Great location, would give it another shot, still love Bru and Punch Burger more, keep building places like this on the canal.

After hearing all the hype we decided to try it out for ourselves. Boy, I was not disappointed at all. Driving from Greenwood to Downtown allowed me to picture in my head what type of burger joint this was going to be. In my head I decided that it was going to be like a Five Guys or Beefcake Burgers where you order at the counter, pick how many patties and toppings you want and then sit down waiting for them to either bring it out to you or call your order number. So when we walked in from the parking garage I was very thrown off that I had to be seated. Not to mention that there was a full bar right there as well!! We were seated in a booth and our waitress came over quickly to take our drink order. When she returned (which was quickly I'd like to add) she asked if we wanted to start with any appetizers. Now, I am a fried pickles whore so anytime I see that as an option I jump all over it. What was nice is that she placed that order and gave us more time to look over the menu. Finally after much debate we placed our burger order. I went for the Aloha Burger and parmesan garlic fries. My other half did the same thing, except added caramelized onions to his. A very short time later our fried pickles arrived and I squeed with glee. These were thick cut pickles, beer battered and fried to perfection. The ONLY downside to the pickles was their ranch. I am not a fan of runny ranch. Other than that they were delicious. Just as we finished our pickles our main dish came out. The burgers were bigger than I was expecting and oozing with toppings and deliciousness. The garlic parmesan fries reminded me of Red Robin, but far less greasy/oily. These had real chunks of garlic on them along with just the right amount of parmesan. The burger was larger than expected and cooked to perfection. I chose to do mine medium as I like some pink in my meat. The Aloha burger has a fried egg on top that is cooked sunny side up, so once I broke the yolk there was egg gooy-ness all over. Due to the fact that the burger was messy with how I wanted it cooked and all the delicious toppings I ended up using a knife and fork. NO, the burger was in no way, shape, or form greasy or undercooked. It was burger bliss!! The beef comes from a farm in Kalamazoo, MI and it has a taste that tells me that it is raised and processed correctly and not full of hormones and all that junk. I did not see anywhere on the menu the mention of organic beef, but it just tasted fresh and natural. I really wish I could remember our servers name and she was fantastic. She offered suggestions when we were ordering based off her personal favorites but did it in a way to be helpful and not telling us what to do. She had personality and made sure every need was met and met quickly. The décor feels very industrial with exposed HVAC duct work and Edison bulbs used in almost every fixture. I just loved it...very trendy and a front row view of the canal. The entire place looked clean and even the bathrooms were neat...for a bathroom. All in all it was a great place and I see myself going there again and again. It's pricey for a burger but all around the place is worth every single penny.

I had two hours to kill before a business meeting and with it being a beautiful, sunny day, which are few and far between it seems lately here in Indiana, I decided to search for a decently priced restaurant near the canal downtown. I hit the jackpot! Burgerhaus is located off of 9th Street and it bumps right up against the canal. Parking isn't that crazy - located in an attached garage, I paid $2 for about an hour and 15 minutes there. I think the machine is credit card only too. If parking in the garage, it's located on the 2nd lower level. I walked right in and was seated outside on the patio. It was a bit too breezy early in the lunch hour, so I opted to head inside for the rest of my meal. I ordered the Original Haus Burger which was delectable! The meat was flavorful, juicy, and the bun was great. The waitstaff was friendly and always had a smile on. I noticed as it got closer to Noon-12:30, this place was hoppin! This is a prime locale if you work downtown, especially along the canal. They have a full bar near the entrance and plenty of booth and high top table seating. The menu features their infamous burgers, but they also have a lot of other selections to please the palate. I will definitely be back for a beer during evening hours when I can really go all out. This summer, this place will be packed, so be sure to get in now to try it :)

My husband and I went to Burgerhaus to take advantage of the patio along the canal. The patio did not disappoint. It is separated from the canal path enough so that you don't feel like you're eating on a back path but the view is great and the people watching is top notch! We had the artichoke dip for an appetizer and both ordered the Aussie burger for dinner. Everything was good. The reason I give three stars is the staff was slightly awkward at the hostess stand. There were five girls standing there and none of them seemed to want to help us. It was just awkward. Our burgers were undercooked and we had the wrong side items come out. I would definitely give Burgerhaus another try. Parking couldn't have been any easier. The beer selection was great. Loved the patio and the atmosphere inside looked great.

In an age where gourmet burgers are popping up everywhere, Burgerhaus manages to stand out. I order a different specialty burger every time I go and every time have been delighted by the flavor profile of the burgers. Some really interesting combinations! Some of my party prefer other new burger options in town, but we keep going back to Burgerhaus. Our consensus is that it's one of the best in Central Indiana. Sides have been good - excellent fries. A fair number of craft beers on the menu. Sit on the canal-side patio if you can and enjoy all the activity on the canal - paddle boats, kayaks, joggers, dogwalkers. Parking is a little weird, but to get the canal view, required. If you park in the garage, you park 2 (or 3?) levels down, but are able to walk right into the restaurant from that level. I usually park for free (or metered parking) on Senate Ave and walk the block over to the canal. Burgerhaus has two locations (the other in Valpo).

Usually, I won't bother with gourmet burgers because they always seem to let me down. Well today is the day that I am surprisingly satisfied. Not only does Burgerhaus feed Indy, but they also contribute to global hunger efforts by feeding kids in Kenya. My heartstrings are officially tugged. My office posse strolled down from our building off 10th Street. Even though it was snowing, it was still a nice walk. My thoughts turned to how lovely it will be in the spring and summer! The entrance, off the canal, is next to a patio with outdoor seating. Prime real estate for the warmer months. In the spirit of a German-style pub, the interior sports dark, wood and brick walls, warm lighting, and a bar lined with craft beers on tap and in bottles. Many of our beloved locals are found on their drink menu, including New Day Craft, Sun King, and 3 Floyds. Or if you're feeling fancy, check out the wine list and international brews. Our waitress asked if we had been there before, to which we all said "no." She explained the menu and answered all of our questions. Very patient and polite. I ordered the Tuscan with sweet potato fries. In a word? Amazing! The burger was cooked perfectly, and the toppings were a fresh change from the traditional setup. Fluffy, soft, fresh bread complimented the toppings, all artfully crafted to connect with each element. If you're anywhere near here, you MUST try their sweet potato fries. Slivers of goodness, lightly coated with cinnamon sugar and served in a stainless steel basket. It's a side! No, it's a dessert! No, it's both! A perfect little treat after devouring my burger. I would be happy just coming here for their fries and a drink. Can't wait for the warm weather so I can make a break for the canal!

Guys, guys, guys... Get the spinach artichoke dip. Much artichoke. So spinach. And no chips, but fried pita triangles! Could make any doge say, Wow." The burgers are, like, crazy, never-want-to-stop-eating, expand-my-stomach good. The missus gets the Santiago because, "chipotle mayo & fried jalapeños on a pretzel bun." I'm in love with a burger that's more simple, straight to the point. Give me the Haus burger any day. Seriously... Give me one...

My trip here was perfect on all levels. The service was great, food was better, beer selection was concise and top notch. The setting was clean and well decorated with old fashioned light bulbs, rough-cut lumber walls and copper trim. It made me wish I'd had a big ass mustache and coal dust on my face. The burgers were awesome and cooked perfectly. Fries were delicious and I even polished off some dessert. If you're on the fence, just GO! I tried really hard, but I couldn't find a criticism or gripe. This place just pulls it off, man. If you're looking for, like, something lite and refreshing......um, yeah, I don't think you'd be getting the best out of it. The fish tacos are likely delicious and so I'll make sure to go back for those. A+

One of the newest, ans best burger joints in the city. The seating outdoor by the canal, during the sunset is breathe taking. Highly recommended for people wanting to try new burger joints! Won't regret it!!

What a great restaurant on the canal. The waiter assured us that these burgers would ruin burgers forever, as none could compare to the excellence of the Burgerhaus burger. He wasn't lying. I felt like my burger was tender enough to melt in my mouth but not completely fall apart between the buns. I had the Monoco, which had a burgundy aioli, arugula, white cheddar, mushrooms, and onions. To top it all off, it had a huge slice of avocado (I'm a huge sucker for avocado). Probably one of the best gourmet burgers I have had recently. I will remember it fondly. The menu also has beer pairing recommendations, very nice touch. The appetizers are also amazing. I would highly recommend anything that comes with pita bread. It has the consistency of a hush puppy with a crunchy outside but a soft and pillowy interior. Yowza, it's amazing. The only thing that would make the Burgerhaus absolutely perfect, is the fries. There is nothing special about them and they were kind of bland. Definitely a disappointment, but it's not going to stop me from going back in the future. I love the location although it is kind of hard to get to. They have some recommendations on the website, but it is still kind of a bear.

Spicy blue cheese fries = amazing! The American Niger is packed with flavor and it was cooked perfectly. Usually when i ask for a burger to be medium-rare they bring it out to me with a pink center - when I really wanted it to be more red. Finally got a burger the way I like em! Good service and great food.

Where to begin? Ain't nothin like a little burger, beer, and besties to get a Thursday night rollin! We checked this place out for a little gal pal get together and I'm so glad that we did, because it was delicious! It is a little bit of a piece of work to get to though, so be sure you know your downtown directions ahead of time! It is underneath the apartments at IUPUI and you have to take the elevator down to the bottom most level to get to it if you so choose to park in the garage. Once down, there are plenty of signs to guide your way :) I went for just your average burger so I could really get a feel for what we were workin with here, and it was just lovely. The kettle chips were perfect and didn't have that greasy grease feel to them that you sometimes get with sides of such nature. The interior gives ya that dark, wooded, yet modern feel which is totally chill and fun. Lots of local brews to choose from ( I believe 6? local rotating taps) and lots of ciders, wine, drinks, etc as well. I'll definitely hit up Burgerhaus again, and bring new friends to try as well!

Great burger, nice looking establishment, good atmosphere. I got my burger to go and it was done in about 5 minutes. That said I ordered the Monatco or whatever it is called, with avocado. They forgot to put avocado on it, nbd though because it was still delicious. Plus a huge helping of fries! Would love to return to sample their beer!

Great food right on the canal. This place is reasonably priced with burgers on the level with Bru. Good beer selection and friendly staff. This place is worth eating at just to people watch on the canal and hate on the crossfit folks working out as you consume 2000 calories.

Atmosphere: 5 stars Burgers: 3 stars Service: 4 stars Navigating the parking garage down to Burgerhaus felt a bit like driving into Disney World- several signs & banners indicating"You're almost there!" really build up one's excitement. While the super cute, lit-up canal patio exceeded my expectations for a dining space, nobody in my group was wowed by the burgers they received. I'd ordered mine medium temperature but there was really no pink to be found in my patty. The burger was still super moist, so no complaints about dryness. But even my friend who had ordered the Cozumel burger said it wasn't all that flavorful. We were all pretty pleased with our sides, specifically the sweet potato fries and the mac & cheese. NOTE: the sweet potato fries are actually sugared, so if you're looking for a more savory side I'd recommend the macaroni & cheese, which was creamy and indulgent. General consensus: We'd all go back on a nice evening to enjoy the patio space and great people-watching provided by the canal. We'd order one of the many local beers offered and some of those tasty side dishes, but probably try out the tacos, lettuce wraps, or other non-burger menu items.

WOW!!!! This place is AMAZING!!! The food is ridiculously good and well priced. The atmosphere is wonderful, as is the service. We started with the seared tuna appetizer, which was perfect. We tried the American burger and the Monaco. Both far exceeded my expectations! I ate entirely too much and I can't wait to go back and do it again! There are so many great combinations on the menu; I look forward to trying them all! Definitely the best burgers I've had in Indy, if not ever in my life!! They also had a sizable variety of specialty beers by the bottle and on tap. It was a little difficult to find the location, but once we got there, we were pleasantly surprised to be nestled on the canal. The view while dining on the patio is delightful. To top off this amazing experience, we learned that for each burger purchased, the restaurant donates a meal for starving children in impoverished areas of the world. Win-win!! I will definitely return to this establishment and I can't wait to take my family & friends here as well.

hey Burgerhaus, You have certainly met one of my previously unmet needs in Indy in bringing good food and drink to the canal. I dream someday of a canal with diverse group of places to get food and hang out, and though the canal has a ways to go, Burgerhaus is a great kickoff to what hopefully becomes a trend. Now for the "meat"...burgers are creative and delicious...and if you're not a beef person, try the ahi tuna sandwich or lettuce wraps! You won't be disappointed. Don't miss the fried pickle chips, they are pretty much the best I've had anywhere! Burgerhaus has a respectable selection of rotating beers. Though you're not going to get many surprises they have some less ubiquitous options from common local breweries, like Sun King's Foxy Jam Pants, which is perfect beer for enjoying at the outdoor tables on the canal!

Food was really good. Loved the artichoke dip starter. Burger was absolutely awesome too. Meat was well cooked to my preference. Our waiter was really awesome too. Lots of beer to choose from too. Few brands have a rotating tap which is fun. Long list of bottles to choose from. Would highly recommend this place. Only advice is to park on the street and not in the garage. Save some money!!

Three words: sweet potato fries!!!! I don't care what burger or sandwich you order, but you need to get these delicious things with your meal. Or even get an extra side of them to share with the table. They're that good. I'll admit I came to this place having no idea what to expect. I had heard rave reviews - but had no idea where Burgerhaus was actually located. Finding it IS a bit of a challenge and the parking garage could potentially be a bit of a harrowing experience depending upon who is driving. I like how they validate your parking - automatically made me a fan. Normally I'm not super into gourmet burgers nor do I think they are worth the price, but in this case, Burgerhaus does a pretty good job. I had the Tuscan - it was piled high with toppings but wasn't impossible to eat without the burget falling apart all over my plate. The service was friendly and they had a pretty impressive beer and wine list. I will definitely be back when it is nice enough to sit outside on the patio overlooking the canal and enjoy some craft brews and let's be honest - I'll probably order some sweet potatoes fries too. Definitely worth the adventure to find this place and head in for a bite.

I can't say enough! The atmosphere. The service... impeccable! The menu is not overbearing or full of unnecessary add on... solid apps, astounding fries and STUPENDOUS burgers. Listen... the Garlic Parmesan fries came to the table piping hot and for the love of God, WHOLE CLOVES OF ROASTED GARLIC!! did you hear that? Whole cloves... you get the picture. The Haus burger came medium JUST like I asked. Not over dressed not cold... PERFECTION. Look, I'm not gonnna press you to go experience this JEWEL ON THE CANAL, but I promise you that if you go, there is a HUGE possibility that you'll see me. I'm moving in to the storage room if need be. I LOVE a good burger and this one did not disappoint.

If Mary & Joseph had created a burger instead of a child... It would have been the burger on the menu at Burgerhaus! D.e.l.i.c.i.o.u.s. I ordered the Basilica, subbed with a black-bean burger since I don't eat meat. And my boyfriend ordered the Haus burger. BOTH WERE TO DIE FOR! This was hands down, one of the best veggie burgers I'd ever had!!! And to top it off, I had a side of sweet potato fries all washed down with a 3 Floyds Craft Beer. Our server was no less than fantastic, Stephanie, and a server like that would make someone return regardless of the food! So great food, beer, and service... I'm sorry - but this place totally blows Bru Burger out of the water! All-in-all, I think we've found a second home in Indy! Will be returning & recommending! Update: 12/2 - We returned to the Burgerhaus for a second time and the food and beer was just as good! However, our server this time was no Stephanie, and pretty bad-ish at that. But we will still continue giving it a try! Update: 12/31 - We gave our favorite Burger place another try - and had our favorite server again. And guess what? Her name isn't Jennifer! Its Stephanie. I am guessing the individual who cashed us out our first trip's name was Jennifer - which showed on the receipt as "Your server was: Jennifer." Anyways - her name is Stephanie! And she is great! And we loved our dinner! Thanks again for the A+ experience! Update 8/9: I've decided to drop my original 5 star review to a 4.... Solely because of that fact that their patio is not dog friendly. I'd rather go visit Ralston's where my fur baby is more than welcome to join and enjoy!

This is a decent craft burger joint on the Central Canal. Hopefully more restaurants will open on the canal as there is so much untapped potential there. The burgers are good, but they commit one of my cardinal sins in in hamburger preparation which keeps this from being a 4-star review --- the waitress didn't ask me how I wanted my burger done. It medium to medium-well which for me is sacrilegious. Medium-rare, please. Fries are also good. Crispy and seasoned well. Prices are reasonable. $9-11 for a burger and fries. The interior is dark, yet cozy. Lots of dark wood features. There's also a sizeable outdoor seating area which looked enticing. However, the day I came for lunch the temperature was in the 50s so I opted for the great indoors instead.

My friends and I were pumped about coming to this restaurant, because it has some of our favorite things about life: burgers, cool vibes and the canal. We even made a Facebook event, because we were just so excited to go. Well to be honest. We were simply underwhelmed by the end of the experience. We decided to sit outside, because the wait was shorter and we wanted to just enjoy the canal. However, it was mildly strange that some of the chairs had some loose wooden panels or missing as you sit on them. My friend felt kind of guilty, because she thought she broke it at first and then we realized there were other chairs in the same situation, so we just laughed it off. Our waitress came and she seemed like a nice gal, but not super enthused. She took our drink orders and walked away. She come out with my beer and water, water for my pal (who then ordered a beer herself) and our other friend's Sprite didn't come out. About 10 minutes later, they brought out the beer that was just ordered when our first drinks came out, but they still didn't bring out the Sprite until about 15 minutes in and we thought it was a little strange. This is when we noticed that this restaurant has a pretty good playlist going on. It was nice hearing some cool tunes while we waited. Things got a little strange when a waiter came out and he seemed lost and confused about which table to take this order of burgers and tacos. That's when the manager came out and asked us what we had. He told us there was some confusion of where this food was supposed to go and we thought it seemed a little strange. However, the manager was super friendly and gave an example of some purely beautiful customer service. Anyway, so our food finally comes out after quite some time of waiting. The friend that had the Sprite issue got some chili, which she didn't really care for. On the other hand, friend with the beer and I got the Aussie burger. This burger is absolutely delicious. It has a nicely cooked fried egg, bacon, cheese, lettuce, and everything that you would just love. The fries on the side came out in the super cute little fry basket, but the fries themselves taste like something you can get from Five Guys honestly. Friend with the Sprite had to jet and needed to get her check, but we notice that our waitress just disappears for real long periods of time. It just dragged the experience out even longer. She finally comes and gives Sprite her check and what not, but friend with the beer needed to order something for her boyfriend to go. They told her to order this food ten minutes in advance to us getting our checks and leaving. However, it was hard to do that when our waitress goes M.I.A. Finally she was able to get the order in. Getting our hopes up that we were soon to leave was diminished, because we waited forever for this to go meal to come out. Then the waitress came out and told us we had to wait after a party of 13 got their meals. It's understandable that people that order first get a priority, it's also friendly to be let known about the time, but we thought it was kind of odd that we were told that we're 14th in line. The waitress made a joke and we giggled for a second and then she disappeared again. She finally comes out with the to go order and we just busted out of there. Now, this isn't really much on Burgerhaus, but I advise that you find parking on the street and enjoy a walk on the canal. The reason I say this is that the parking garage connected to the restaurant is kind of a doozy with the exit signs points places and comes off misleading, because they're really intended for pedestrians and not drivers. In the end, it was just a strange experience. We had very high expectations. By far, it wasn't the worst place we've ever been, but it wasn't the best either. The service is off, but the place is neat, music is fun and the burgers are good. Just don't get a chili and Sprite though.

This place was more than a little disappointing. First, I'll talk about the food. I don't eat beef, so I'm always looking for a turkey burger. I was happy to find one here, and given their "burger connoisseur" claim, I was hopeful their turkey burger would be good. I had the Monaco burger, sans arugula, and I subbed a turkey patty. Ugh. The turkey patty was painfully bland. It was among the worst I've had. The good news, however, is that I was able to remove the turkey burger from the pretzel bun (which, itself, was excellent) and put the remainder toppings back onto the bun. Voila. A vegetarian option. Also, the fries were cold and surprisingly underwhelming. I guess I always expect "strictly burger" places to have good fries. Not here, though. Now, for the worst part: we had terrible service from an epically rude waitress. Our reservation was made for 6:15. We arrived five minutes early but were immediately seated. I looked at my watch just before we ordered--6:25. By 6:55 p.m.--45 minutes into our experience and 30 minutes after we ordered--we were all wondering where our food was (we were a party of four, mind you). We asked our waitress to give it a check, which she said she would. She subsequently disappeared, without giving us a status update. When she finally breezed by our table again, we stopped her and asked where our food was. She became rude and nasty, saying we just ordered 20 minutes ago. We noted that wasn't true, and she abruptly walked away while I was mid sentence. WALKED AWAY, y'all. Soon thereafter, our server and another (very kind) woman brought our food out. Our waitress continued with her nasty, sarcastic attitude while delivering our food. At this point, I had had it. I asked her to please not argue with us. And while I was mid sentence, she WALKED AWAY again!! That's twice. The very kind woman who helped deliver our food looked genuinely horrified at what our waitress had done. She was incredibly apologetic. And bless her heart, she really tried to salvage the meal for us. She asked about the whole ordeal, and she later reported she had spoken to her manager about it. She was so kind, and she apologized several times. But incredibly, we were never visited by the manager. That surprised me almost more than the treatment we received from our waitress. So, ultimately, I didn't love this place, and I wouldn't recommend it.

Great burgers! Get ready to be super full. The burgers are delicious and sides are good too. I especially like the mac n cheese. It's located right on the canal and has a nice patio area. Very walkable from downtown. A must try if you like gourmet burgers!

This place can be a little hard to find if you are not coming from the canal. Free street parking is available along with a paid parking garage that is attached to the apartment complex the restaurant is located in. I had heard great things about this place, so I convinced a burger-loving friend to join me in checking the place out. The inside is a dark, cozy setting of booths and a small sized bar. Patio seating is a available as well. Service was prompt and polite. The owner was up at the bar that day and gave us a warm greeting. We both had to work that day at the hospital, so no drinks for us, but their diet cokes were perfectly carbonated and tasted great. (My friend is a fountain drink connoisseur, so believe me when I say they were good! ) I ordered the bleu cheese haus fries and the Monaco. The fries were good, with with perfect amount of bleu cheese to keep them from getting soggy. The burger was cooked to perfection and was on a great pretzel bun. My friend ordered the Basilica and raved about it. I will come here again, this time to try some of the beer selections and to enjoy another great burger.

Situated on the canal it is easy to access when walking, but to park it was several stories underground and I was beginning to wonder where in the world this place was. The interior is industrial chique, exhibiting a stone brick wall that proudly lit up "BURGERHAUS." I have been there twice now, and can't wait to go back ago. They have a great beer selection, both on tap and in bottles. At my first experience I ordered the Santiago: a patty topped with chipotle monterey, avocado, tomato, butter lettuce, chipotle mayo and fried jalepenos on a pretzel bun. Holy Moley and hot jumbalaya was it delicious! But, I was a bit let down by the garlic parmesan fries. They weren't crisp and the garlic was very mild, not worth upgrading. On my second visit, I ordered the Bozeman: a fresh made turkey burger topped with chipotle mayo, avocado, roasted red pepper, butter lettuce, and pepper jack cheese. And it was delicious. To accompany it, I ordered spicy waffle fries. They are not on the menu, so be sure to ask for them. They were PERFECT. Everything a fried potato should be! Be sure to ask your waiter/ess to validate your parking pass if you parked in the garage to avoid paying for parking, its on the haus with a validated pass.

My, my, my... Yes. I had the lovely experience of having lunch here with a stellar bunch of Yelp Elites, ave I must say it was pretty great. We got to sample almost every appetizer on the menu: Parmesan artichoke dip, hummus, chili cheese fries, fried pickles and guacamole. My favorite was the hummus -- I could eat the pita alone as a meal! I ordered the Kyoto, which is a tuna burger and it was incredible! Easily the best tuna burger I've ever had. I can't say enough good things about it! Rare, sushi-grade, perfectly seasoned tuna on a pillowy soft bun. YUM The service was good, server was extra friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere was laid back. I'm not gonna make any comparisons to other burger joints because that's kind of unfair. I'll be back to sink my teeth into the Aussie, though! Guys try it! Burgerhaus is very, very good and I'll just leave it at that :)

First, I can't wait until it's warm outside to return to Burgerhaus. I think their location and what appears to be an awesome patio situation is going to make them a must-visit destination while meandering the canal. I hope their patio is dog-friendly, because I'd love to be able to stroll in while out on a walk with my pup and grab lunch with some friends. But back to the present. I met a group of girl friends at Burgerhaus the other day in order to celebrate Galentines Day (thank you, Parks and Rec). We all agreed that nothing celebrates friendship better than an awesome burger and some delicious fries. I had the Haus Burger - because, duh, first time there you try the signature burger! Right off the bat, Burgerhaus impressed me. You see, I have a test when I go to burger places. I order my burger rare. If a restaurant will serve me a rare burger - without questioning the order - then that burger is most likely going to be awesome (good beef makes a good burger). The burger was delicious and the bun was a nice brioche bun. The waffle fries were ok - I think I had different expectations for them. Overall, this was a wonderful place to grab a burger with some friends. And, circling back around to the beginning of this review, I can't wait to do that in some warm summer weather on their amazing patio.

Burgerhaus - Downtown Indianapolis, situated nicely on the canal in downtown #Indy is making a name for itself. Flavorful burger creations, a variety of fry combinations, machu pichu chili, beer-battered pickle chips, mountains of golden onion rings, fresh salads, amazing shakes, and ample beer varieties are sound foundations for food fame. You have to try The Oahu 7oz Tuna Burger, lightly seared to hold in the flavor, topped with mango chutney, spinach, avocado, mango salsa, mounted between a brioche bun and a side salad. It's the featured "Burger of the Month" among a host of other cast members, such as, The Aussie, Monaco, Tuscan, Santiago, Cozumel, Basilica, Haus, and American. Rotating taps from Bell's, Sun King, and 3 Floyd's are sound selections, but I really enjoyed the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel ale. BurgerHaus also serves award-winning bottled beers and wines. With plenty of bar, indoor, patio seating, and garaged parking, thus will certain be a summer time hit as you stroll down the canal looking for a refreshing time out. Be sure to see what else we said on The317Live dot com.

My high expectations may have influenced my feelings that this is just a pretty average burger restaurant. We came here for dinner last weekend. I'll start with the negative and move to the positive to end on a good note. Really this restaurant should have a four, but the drop in rating is due completely to the fact that my burger was overcooked. I requested medium and it came out well done, just gray meat, no hint of pink anywhere, not even in the center. If your claim to fame is going to be burgers, the doneness shouldn't be up for debate. That being said, the rest of my experience here was good. The parking situation was fantastic. They validate your parking for the attached garage. Just drive in, follow the banners to the bottom floor and you can park within 50 feet of the restaurant entrance. You don't even have to brave the cold for dinner. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. She was timely with refills, taking our order and bringing the check. Lastly the rest of the food. While the burger should be the star, the toppings are also important. I ordered the Aussie. The egg was cooked perfectly and they didn't skimp on the bacon and cheese. The fries were pretty good, but they looked suspiciously like they were originally frozen. I'll be back again to give them a second chance. Maybe their kitchen was just having an off night.

Burgerhaus has become one of my favorite burger joints in Indy. Not only for it's awesome location on the canal but for its fantastic selection and quality. I have become absolutely obsessed with their black bean burger. The beer selection has improved to noteworthy status.

I found my visit to Burgerhaus super enjoyable! I don't normally order burgers at restaurants because they are always gigantor and greasy - however, if the name "burger" is in the restaurant, I've gotta indulge just a bit! I ordered the Tuscan burger with mozzarella, tomato, onion, and basalmic glaze and lemme tell ya...I ate the Whole Damn Thing :) It was really good my friends! They also have great fries - blue cheese fries, cajun fries with spicy ranch, etc. I'd totally come back here again (and I think that their awesome outdoor seating along the canal will be awesome come spring!). Apparently they will validate parking in the garage, but I had no idea how to find said garage - and honestly finding the place overall is a bit difficult - unless you live in the apartments connected to Burgerhaus or are taking a stroll down the canal.

A new hidden gem in Indy. I had the Santiago burger and it was absolutely delicious! Fried jalapeños were amazing and the pretzel bun was divine. It was quite the filling sandwich - def get your money's worth. I'm excited to come back during the warmer months and enjoy the location right on the Canal.

I have had two great experiences at Burgerhaus. The burgers have been great, they have a good beer selection, and one of the best locations in town. Plus their burgers come with a side including French fries. A huge plus in my book, especially when you are paying $10+ for a burger. We will definitely be back.

I have to say, my initial impression is totally in line with one of the previous reviews... this feels a lot like Bruburger in a different place--a very poorly marked, underground place. Tidy little craft beer menu, gourmet-ish burgers that'll run ya 10-15 bucks, trendy modern decor with wooden booths and floors. For dinner, I got the classic burger but subbed a black bean patty. The burger itself was pretty good: soft and fluffy brioche bun, your choice of one of four cheeses, fresh veggies. Unfortunately, the fries that came with the burger were woefully overcooked to the point of being extremely crispy/tough on the outside and hollow on the inside. Our waitress was new (she told us this), and it was pretty obvious. Perhaps a little pre-job training would have helped? Like many other people, I've waited tables before, and I know a half-day spent on timing of drinks and entrees, when to clear tables and bring checks, and upselling can be priceless in terms of tips. One last remark about this place: I parked in the garage because there was a sign that said, "Burger Haus parking on LL2," and when I asked about parking validation, I was told, "Oh, we're not doing that yet... we'll be doing that in a couple of weeks, though." Sure wish I would've known that so I could've just parked on the street. Seems a little bit of false advertising that I had to pay for parking in the restaurant's designated parking area (in a very, very empty garage, no less).

I had lunch here for the Yelp Lunch Break event and I left full and happy. The burgers are enormous. I had the Tuscan and it was amazing. I'm pretty thrilled that I could only manage to eat half of it, because I get to extend the burger pleasure over two days now. For my side I had the Machu Pichu chili and it was excellent. Nice big chunks of burger, and a lot of flavor, but not overly spicy. For this event they brought out one of almost every appetizer on the menu. They were all really good, but my personal favorite was the Parmesan artichoke dip. Big, wonderful chunks of artichoke in it. I could have had it for a meal by itself. One cool feature of their menu is that you can sub the beef for chicken, turkey, or a veggie burger. Though if you are a meat-eater I urge you to get the beef. I've never had a burger this tasty. They explain that the beef is fresh, never frozen, and you can really tell the difference.
