I may update this if I have a better experience on my next visit, the one star comes down to this: Being grossly overcharged for 1 coffee and a full order of biscuits and gravy, $11.45, wow not a good value if that's the true price. Service was fast and friendly but when I objected to the price it was ignored as if everything was correct. The location in Broad Ripple and to the Monon Trail are great but next time I'm hoping to get what I pay for (and not less).

Yes. Yes. Yes. Fast food, wonderful flavors and breakfast to fill you up and then some. This place is a win! Get the breakfast combo with spicy sausage gravy. Thank me later.

Solid 4 star breakfast. I would like to express one minor quibble- "CoffeeMate" is NOT "just as good" as 1/2&1/2 in coffee, and the coffee in a breakfast joint is so important. I asked for half and half and got some, ymmv. If it's about food, plenty of choices for gringoes as well as those of us that love the Mexican palate even if we struggle with remembering how to pronounce gracias. Nice people, give it a try.

Great service and friendly staff. Affordably priced food and a well rounded menu. Spacious seating for a cafe; sunday brunch with mimisosas and breakfast mexican sandwich hit the spot. Very busy on a Sunday morning so get there early!

I came here for the first time during the busy Sunday breakfast hour. The place is small and packed tightly with many tables. Despite the busy time we came, the wait to be seated was fairly short. Great breakfast/brunch! The options were abundant among both Mexican cuisine and typical American breakfast foods. Service was excellent as well. I ordered the French toast with strawberries. All plates are very large; no one leaves this place hungry. Definitely way better than any chain breakfast restaurant.

Small, crowded and hectic but boy the food was good and plentiful. Wait staff was right on top of the chaos. Great breakfast place.

How have I waited this long to try Biscuits?!?! I'd always seen this place in the random strip mall in Broad Ripple, but was never quite sure what it was. Boyfriend and I decided to stop in for brunch last week, and it was one of the best food choices I've ever made! It was bustling when we got there, but there was one table left in the back of the room. I think they've pretty much put as many tables as possible in this room - it's hard to walk! We ordered coffee... which was by the way delicious.. and split a short stack of blueberry pancakes and Mexican breakfast tacos. Pancakes were really good, but the Mexican Breakfast Tacos were insanely good! They were filled with sour cream, refried beans, guacamole, lettuce and pico de gallo. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I love the fact that Biscuits serves both American and Mexican brunch, and after trying both, they were so good! We're planning to go back this week to try their dinner. I can see this place becoming my favorite brunch place in Broad Ripple!

Biscuits is what you make it, and you can't expect to have a typical brunch at a place like this. Yes, at least 4 different waiters will be serving you, yes, it will be crowded, yes, it will be loud, yes everything in the place is mismatched and thrown together but that is all part of the beauty of Biscuits. The food isn't going to blow your mind but I guarantee you will not leave hungry. It's large portions of everything. The biscuits and gravy are good and I really like the breakfast tacos. I have never had a bad experience here. Biscuits provides it's customers with large portion breakfast or Mexican dishes with no fuss or frills. Let's just say you won't want to Instagram a pic of your plate you will just want to eat your food and have a lazy day.

this may be my new Sunday breakfast stop. Close to home and a great bloody mary, I'm already a fan. Service is quick and extremely friendly. I've actually gone here the last 3 weekends, just to make sure the didn't trick me on the first visit. I had the huevos rancheros, went simple with the scrambled eggs, verde salsa, and a small order of the spicy biscuits and gravy. The gravy has a pinkish color, from the hot sauce mixed in, but it's all very good. oh yeah, the bloody mary was very good too. Prices are good, get a good meal and a drink for about $10.00.

When I first heard a family member suggest going to this restaurant and describe it as a breakfast and a Mexican restaurant in one I was certain that it would be awful. I couldn't have been more wrong. The menu was huge and full of tons of options. Being a vegetarian I am always worried when going to a new restaurant but here you do not have to worry. They have vegetarian options that aren't normal available in authentic Mexican restaurant. The portion size vs the price was reasonable. My aunt and I were able to take home left overs for a $8 meal, which is always a plus. The service was fantastic even though there was only one cook and one waiter. She was very friendly and took her time when we asked questions about the menu. We also came there with a 1.5 year old and asked for specialty item (cup of fruit) and they were more than happy to make it for us without the usual 'sorry we don't offer that and I could probably get the cook to make that for you but I don't really care enough' look.

This. Place. is. so. good. holy crap. i come here with my dad at least once a week (monon before and after) and we just rage on the taco platter, mouth watering now. My dad does not like mexican food...but this is his favorite restaraunt. THAT IS HOW GOOD THIS PLACE IS!!!!! and the staff is so nice! we have the same waitress all the time and she is just hilarious. She honestly makes the restraunt feel homey. I think its WONDERFUL when items at a restaraunt do not taste exactly the same with each visit. I.E , the fresh gauc and salsa taste different almost every time. one time, they wouldnt even serve us guac because it wasnt fresh enough. i was happy but at the same time...GIVE ME SOME GUAC! I recommend to everyone!!!! SOBER AND TIPSY :) i think i maybe getting some tonight because this post makes me crave it!

My first time having Huevos Rancheros, Mexican style eggs served with cheese, salsa and corn tortillas. Yum! More food than I could possibly eat. The place was packed on a Sunday morning, but we got our order taken swiftly and our food came out fast. We will definitely be back!

After getting my hair did in Broad Ripple, I figured I'd get myself some brunch or lunch. The mobile app directed me here, a mom and pop Mexican place that also serves traditional breakfast favorites. After browsing the menu, I settled on the Mexican breakfast sandwich. Soon after I ordered, I decided to check out other peoples' reviews and pictures on Biscuits Cafe's Yelp page. Read your reviews and really glad I didn't get the biscuits and gravy! I'm from the South and what they hell do they put in their biscuits and gravy to make them pink like that? I sat right next to the order counter, and yes, THEY ARE PINK IN REAL LIFE. Ick. So, I will never ever get them. I don't care if they taste great (a LOT of people were ordering them, but I will never get over the fact that they're that color). My sandwich, however was really nice, and I paired it with Mexican style potatoes. The sort of comfort food that I crave from time to time, not to mention hella cheap.

One of my favorite spots in Broad Ripple, or maybe even Indy, for breakfast. A perfect morning after drinking meal, if you catch my drift. Their number 1 breakfast combo might be the best hangover cure in Indianapolis. I know my order by heart: spicy biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage patty, and obviously, some hash browns. Biscuits is located in a strip mall, so it's a little unassuming, but make no mistake about it, this place is 0% fancy and just 100% delicious food. Even when they're busy, the staff is attentive and the food comes out fast and hot. A hidden gem not to be missed in Indy! I've never eaten anything other than breakfast here, but I've heard they have good margaritas and good lunch/dinner, so next time I'm needing a Mexican fix, I'll have to head here and try it out.

Maybe we ordered the wrong thing, but we were both quite disappointed in our meals. My wife ordered carne tacos and the meat was bland and tasteless. I ordered the breaded tenderloin and it was dry and tough. We might try it again for breakfast if we're in the area, but we weren't impressed at all.

Decided to try on a Sunday morning based on Yelp reviews. Two of us arrived around 8:45 am and there were plenty of seats, thinks filled up fast after 9. Server took our beverage orders and departed to give us a few to look at options. Good selection of breakfast options, both traditional "American" and Mexican. I came to try the biscuits and gravy and went with a full order. My SO ordered the #1 combo (eggs, meat, biscuit, home fries). The food came out in about ten minutes. The B&G was an amp,e portion with three fluffy biscuits and p,entry of a pinkish gravy (I ordered the spicy option). The pis units were a good size, fluffy and a good portion of gravy. Overall I give the B&G an OK. I prefer a more crumbly baking soda type biscuit with B&G rather then the fluffy ones at Biscuits Cafe. The gravy was fine but did not have a lot of flavor or sausage.so the BG was ok in my book but nothing special. My SO breakfast platter was a good diner breakfast. We will go back to try some of the Mexican style dishes that looked pretty good and I may be able to up my rating if they are as good as they look. For biscuits and gravy I will stick to Ruth's Cafe and Jacquies.

Biscuits is popular with locals for its breakfasts, but its lunches/dinners, and Mexican food in general are highly underrated. I frequent this place often. The service is a little confusing to newcomers, as you can have multiple waitresses from beginning to end of your service, but it's just the way they are set up. YMMV depending on the main server you get. Also, the atmosphere is not what you would expect from most Mexican restaurants, it is more like a diner or greasy spoon. For breakfast, try to the huevos rancheros, biscuits skillet, or omelette. Their biscuits and gravy and pancakes are really good too (don't be afraid of the pink gravy, it's just part of the delicious recipe). For dinner, try the quesadilla diabla, texana fajita, or the pollo rachero. All these dishes are excellent. Cesar (lead chef/manager) is a really good cook. He has worked all over the US and can make nearly any kind of food. He isn't always the person cooking, but the other cooks do a pretty good job in comparison (Cesar still makes it the best).

This is one of my new favorite summer, weekend traditions! They have several tables outside and facing the Monon where I can bring my dogs and have an AWESOME breakfast! First, and I can't say enough, how much I love dog-friendly places and they are! They will bring my dogs water and they ask about them. Speaking of friendly, the staff is great! Staff is friendly, nice, responsive, get my order correct everytime, and they suggest new things if I'm indecisive! My current favorite thing is the Huevos rancheros with ranchera sauce with is a little spicy, but when I couldn't decide between the lovely or ranchera sauce, they let me sample the sauces! Great customer service! Their flavored iced coffees are also pretty and very good. I highly recommend this place!

Amazing. Consistently delicious, consistently great service, and consistently authentic. The chilaquiles are the best in the city! Huge portion sizes for an awesome price. My 5yr old and I always leave better than satisfied! Very friendly staff and the owners are the sweetest. Versatile menu, including mimosas, margaritas beers and wine!! Delisioso

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about here. Several of my friends have recommended I try the place, but to their credit, they all mentioned breakfast. My husband and I went for dinner and were pretty disappointed by our experience and the food. I "think" I would go back and give breakfast a try...just to give them a fair shake.

So many options for breakfast I had trouble deciding. Ended up going with the Chile Relleno Omelet and couldn't have been happier. Some very imaginative breakfast options make this a great choice for those wanting a filling breakfast.

I LOVE this place. Crowded for brunch on Sunday but we found a seat and were greeted immediately by the warm and friendly staff. The food was served promptly and several different servers shared responsibility for every table. Can't wait to have breakfast there again. It's awesome!!!

This is a really fun place. It's a Mexican food diner that also serves biscuits and gravy. The food is all short order and is just delicious. Look around for handwritten signs with the specials. Don't worry about asking questions about the food. Everyone is very helpful. Also, the coffee is good. If they have chilaquiles, order that.

My fiancé and I stopped in here last Saturday morning around 10am, and found a table right away. New to the place, we took a few minutes to review the menu, but the waitress quickly supplied us with our water and coffee. My fiancee ended up ordering a combination meal with 1 biscuit & gravy, eggs, and choice of meat (he got sausage). After a lot of debate (the menu is quite large, and almost every item looks delicious) I decided to order the breakfast burrito with red sauce. While my item was delicious and lived up to its name, I would prefer in the future to try the skillet with Biscuits' famous gravy (spicy of course!). My meal felt more like a lunch or dinner item, and I kept sneaking bites off of my fiancé's plate, which he was completely fine with as his food order was quite copious. I would love to come here again and get a bloody mary or a margarita and try a few more items. I feel like this will become a breakfast staple for us (he already asked when we would be going back!).

Solid breakfast diner with excellent American and Mexican selections, fast and friendly service. After two visits the waitress remembered me, which is a nice surprise. Coffee is...well...diner coffee...so don't expect miracles there! :-)

The spicy gravy is pink. So what? I typically slosh tons of the green hot sauce on my spicy biscuits & gravy, and pink & green color combo brings to mind a John Waters' breakfast special (hurrah!). While between laundry cycles next door, I used to love visiting Biscuits for a 1/2 order of spicy biscuits & gravy and cheapo mug of plain coffee at the counter, paying with my leftover laundry quarters. Although frequently busy, my meal was always out quickly, with plenty of time to ensure my laundry's safety. I have not tried any non-breakfast items yet, so cannot recommend any lunch/dinner entrees. Overall, Biscuits is my nearby breakfast spot of choice, when looking for something cheap, unhealthy and hangover-conducive.

7 AM: breakfast chimichanga, margaritas, quesadillas, etc. Full breakfast, dinner, bar menu from 7AM! Can you beat it? I had the breakfast quesadilla with chorizo (there are several iterations) and it was spot on. Impressive little place that really hides disguised as a crummy mexican spot in a chain mall. Highly recommend.

We mosied over here after a trip to the Broad Ripple Farmers Market on a Saturday afternoon. I'm not typically a fan of traditional Mexican food but it just sounded really good at the time, and I was looking forward to a hearty breakfast. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla, which was fantastic. It was stuffed with eggs, potatoes, peppers, and tons of flavor! It all came with a side of rice and refried beans. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked awesome. Not to mention, it was very affordable for the generous portions. I will definitely be back to try lunch sometime soon!

Biscuits Cafe is not what you think. I've wanted to go here for a while, but every time I make an attempt, the restaurant is ridiculously busy. Knowing that it's so busy constantly, this made me want to go even more. After hearing it was Mexican food, my curiosity peaked tremendously. We went in around lunch time on a Sunday and the restaurant was busy as usual, but we found an awesome table towards the back away from the chaos. The waitresses were so kind and great at their jobs and made you feel incredibly comfortable while you were in the building. Mexican breakfast is an interesting concoction. The menu is so massive it's hard to pick only one thing. I ended up ordering the super burrito ranchero with shredded chicken topped with Verde sauce and cheese. The large lunch plate (dinner plate is even bigger) came with refried beans, lettuce/tomato, and brow rice. It was an incredible meal. My friend got a large breakfast burrito with chicken and it came with more or less the same sides as mine. His looked fantastic as well and he was quite happy. While you wait for your food, unlimited chips and salsa will surely keep you entertained. We ordered an appetizer, the white queso sauce with chips and it was quite possibly the most delicious queso sauce that I've ever had in my life. I could have drunk a cup of it if it wouldn't immediately stop my heart. Biscuits serve beer, mimosas, and a selection of soft drinks. Be hungry, amigos!

Convenience off the Monon is one of the best features. Bike rack right off the trail so you can lock you bike and get some breakfast. 6-7 tables outside. We went on a Sunday morning and the inside was packed. Biscuits and Gravy are available, but they have a full menu of regular breakfast items and of course Mexican food. Lots of Mexican breakfast options. We had one B&G, one piece of french toast and one of the skillet breakfast. We ordered the gravy spicy but really wasn't very spicy. French toast was good - best option was the skillet. We split this and was the right amount. Nice that you can order 1 of anything so you can get a sample. $3 soda and $3 coffee seemed a little on the high side for drinks and really drove up the tab - the food was more reasonable. Definitely recommend if you are riding by on the trail.

Ok....mm I been here twice and no this is not a Mexican breakfast don't even know why they advertise as a Mexican just because they serve flour tortillas and scramble eggs with green peppers that doesn't make it Mexican we'll maybe is because the servers and waiters. But I don't think I'm coming back to many people in such a little space NO I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS BECAUSE IS NOT MEXICAN BREAKFAST

Biscuits combines the two culinary joys of my existence: Mexican food and American greasy spoon. There is no way I cannot at least be a the level of "Yay! I am a fan." There aren't two things in this world I am more of a fan of, to be quite honest. I don't know how I feel about them being served under one roof though. I get a little overwhelmed because I want both things pretty much all the time but common sense and reason makes me choose. It also makes me bitter. One day I am going all out, hog wild, and getting a little of both. As many have said, the spicy gravy is top notch. And for those of you like me, on the fence, the chiquales are a good option as they are technically a Mexican breakfast dish. I ordered a mimosa once and it came served over ice and with a salted rim. It was... interesting to say the least. I didn't complain because I do appreciate production value, but I was really hoping for a simple flute of sparking wine and OJ. It didn't even have to be a flute. It could have been in a pint glass for all I care. Next time I will simply ask for no ice or rim accoutrements, but I thought this could be a helpful word to the wise.

Since moving to Indy, I've been trying Mexican restaurants all over the area in hopes of finding something good. When you drive past a Mexican restaurant in a strip mall named "Biscuits" it really makes you stop and think. This has to be the strangest name for a Mexican restaurant I've ever heard. So...I indeed stopped...and on Cinco de Mayo no less! The place was PACKED which is a good sign. The staff were friendly and quick, the food is cooked right in front of you so you have a good feel for what's going on and the menu is pretty broad. I ordered the burrito ranchero and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. There was a bit of heat to the red sauce and it actually tasted fresh. The amount of food was substantial and the price...very reasonable. That being said....I'll be back cuz I needs to taste me some of these "mexican biscuits" next time! :) Nom Nom Nom.

I've been here a couple of times recently for breakfast. Since I rarely go out for breakfast and there are so many options for the morning meal, this says something positive about this place. I generally select an item from the Mexican breakfast and haven't be dissatisfied. Use caution when asking for it spicy, the burn is delightfully tasty.

I never knew this place was here. I will probably visit again. 1. the food was good and authentic 2. reasonably priced 3. pretty good service and friendly staff I split a fajita and that was enough food for us. The margaritas were pretty good. I want to try the place for breakfast next!!

Locally owned place with a mexican inspired breakfast menu along with all the traditional breakfast dishes as well. Food is all prepared fresh in the front of the house on grills behind the counters. it's fairly priced and portions are generous. I really like the coffee. What sets this place apart for me is the friendly and courteous staff.

Mexican breakfast at its finest. Authentic management who knows how to cook breakfast the way it was meant to be. It can be slightly crowded, especially on Sunday mornings, but it's well worth the wait and squeezing into the random seating. Oh, and not surprisingly, the biscuits are quite good.

I came with my fiancee for breakfast one morning, and everything was going so well...up until they brought our food out. We had two dishes that were just awful. My fiancee had the biscuits and gravy, with the spicy gravy. They're served in an extremely wide dish and plated quite shallow, which meant that the gravy turned cold almost instantaneously. Although to be fair, my fiancee had to stop eating before the gravy had a chance to turn cold. I don't know about you guys, but the pink gravy they serve here is one of the most unappetizing things I've ever seen. I immediately thought about pink slime, that infamous McDonald's meat by-product stuff everyone knows about. Gross. I ordered the biscuits skillet, billed as a layer of hash browns with their signature gravy and a layer of melty cheese on top. It tasted...ok? But the dish itself looked like pink Pepto-Bismol slop, and the texture was uniformly awful. I lost my appetite right after the first couple of bites. The only thing saving this place and its wretched food from one star is the fantastic service. The coffee was pretty decent too.

I went in during an off time on a weekday so I didn't have the crowd that other reviews have mentioned. I was in a hurry and didn't really have the time to peruse the menu. So, I just went for a Mexican entrée. The chimichanga was good. It wasn't fried so deep and hard that you needed a chainsaw to get through. That was nice! It was stuffed with meat. I mean ALOT of meat! I'm not complaining! The refried beans were good. The rice was rather bland. My waitress didn't check back with me after I received my food. But, since she was standing two feet away the whole time, it really wasn't much of an issue. I did not receive a check for my food. When I was finished she entered amounts and gave me the total. It sounded right. So, it was no big deal. I will go back and try the breakfast options.

On our way to 3 sisters for brunch I glance at a strip mall and read.. "Biscuits Mexican Restaurant" and laughed...not a name that I would have picked for a Mexican joint for sure! We were told we had an hour wait at 3 sisters so we decided to explore other brunch options in the Broad Ripple neighborhood. Well don't judge a restaurant by its name... we ended up at this place that looks like an old diner that was converted to a Mexican place. This place was packed!! We got two coffee's (pretty decent, strong but not acidic), Huevos Al Albanil and Chorizo skillet. The ranchero sauce is amazing... just a little kick to it, if your meal does not come with Mexican potatoes please get some on the side! Definitely coming back for the ranchero sauce.

If you go here and you don't like it, then maybe....maybe i don't like your attitude. You can get mexican food, breakfast food and beer.....all at the same time! why would you not like that? you can get a chocolate chip pancake, a beer, and some tacos and be all like 'oh, look at me, i'm eating two kinds of food and drinking beer and it's 9 am on a saturday. i'm a huge boss'. we ended up ordering breakfast, mexican and beer simply for the novelty of it. then my mind exploded.

The food was pretty good with exception to the ham; pictured was a ham steak and I got cooked lunch meat. Also, start to finish, we were there close to 2 hours. Granted, we did come on Memorial Day, but still way too long.

I love this little Mexican/brunch joint. The prices are great, the service is awesome if its not slammed and I really enjoy their menu. Where else can you get breakfast enchiladas? Yes, it's not gourmet brunch like Taste, or interesting decor like Good Morning Mamas (it's a cold diner), but it's a wonderful little spot. Check it out!

Love this place! There is never a wait and the staff is so friendly. We come in every week for eggs and bacon. If you don't want to spend $40 for breakfast come to biscuits the coffee is better too!

We went here for breakfast. Positives: I liked the low-key atmosphere of this place. The diner feel was nice. Everything on the menu was cheap. Service was great. Pancakes were huge. Negatives: My husband was really freaked out by the bright PINK color of the gravy on the biscuits and gravy. It tasted fine, but it took him a while to get over the color. My Mexican egg scramble was really dry. It had a little heat to it, but it was dry and not as flavorful as it could have been. I am not sure whether we will go back since there are so many other great breakfast places near us.

Mediocre at best. Service was very slow. It took 5 min. just to get a menu. Place was not very clean. Breakfast sandwich was average and breakfast burrito was not flavorful. Biscuits and gravy were tasty but again, just average.

The lunch and dinner menu is pretty standard Mexican fare that you can find almost anywhere -- with a few oddballs thrown in, like a burger, club sandwich and Caesar and Cobb salads. For breakfast, though, it really lives up to its name: a weird combination of Mexican staples like huevos rancheros mixed with hybrids like breakfast burritos and then classic breakfast items like biscuits and gravy, French toast and Eggs Benedict. The place does smell overwhlemingly of cleaning fluid/disinfectant. I would not say it is particularly attractive inside, but it does have a certain diner-y appeal. The counter seating is pretty neat looking, but they have so much stuff on the counter that only a handful of stools are available for eating at the counter. The place was quite busy on a late Sunday morning. The food is perfectly fine, if unexciting. As others have said, it is the typical Mexican fare available at many restaurants in town and prepared very similarly. The eggs were cooked perfectly to order. The staff was very friendly and efficient.

I love-love-love this place! Friendly and fast service (if you beat the crowd). The breakfast food is so good.

worst breakfast place ever ! Our waitress was cleaning the whole time so everything smelled like cleaning solution and we were neglected. It took way too long to get my waffle... and served my friend before me. he was done before I even got my food! Then the waffles were over done. It was a big waste of time and money. not a friendly place.

LOVE BISCUTS!!! Servce is always great. Laura the owner knows us, knows our order and is always friendly. I have taken my Mom, Sister and her family my Brother and other family and friends here to eat. Prices are cheap. Food is good and lots of it. I don't do the mexican on the menu so I can not say how it is, but they are owned by a Hispanic couple. Drinks are always full. Plates cleared when done. We go almost every Sunday for breakfast and the place is packed. Don't go expecting the same pre-made processed items like at Appebees, O'charley's, Dennys. Local owned, family business.

I LOVE this place!!!!!!! My husband and I go here almost every Sunday. They have a bit of everything and we have yet to try something that we have not enjoyed. They have the BEST pancakes ever. I personally like their strawberry and/or pecan pancakes. (Yes, this is a Mexican place that serves the best pancakes ever.) They also make really good tortas and biscuits and gravy. If you like spicy, get their spicy gravy. They provide FAST service... in fact, several waitresses will come to your table throughout your visit. (Sometimes that can get annoying, but I would rather have that than not getting service at all.) I read some of the negative reviews and I just don't get them. This place is awesome! Yes, some of the waitresses are friendlier than others, but I'm there to eat... not make friends! And every time I have gone, they have always been really busy, which means there is not too much time for the waitresses to chit chat. Many of the waitresses know what we want as soon as we sit down... so friendly or not, they are extremely efficient and provide great service!

I wanted to love this place. I miss grabbing a good skillet breakfast at the local Truck Stop Diner at all hours. Staff's nice & really hauls with a big crowd. Good, fresh diner coffee, prompt refills. Super mixed crowd, too. I've eaten at many "greasy spoons". Where I come from, this is an affectionate term for a local place that serves breakfast at all hours and does it with more regard to patrons' love of butter & bacon than local sourcing or calorie counting. It most definitely does NOT mean the place is greasy - I peeked and Biscuit's grease catcher on their grill is scrubbed so clean it would please Chef Ramsey. Sadly, Biscuit's skillets/scrambles wear an egg frisbee. Scrambled eggs are cooked in an omelet-like shape instead of the fluffy bits I expected. It's not a traditional breakfast skillet - a "hash" of ingredients that can be tossed together (i.e. scrambled eggs, sausage crumbles, grilled ham or veggie cuts). We ordered some variety to find the gems. We struggled to fit the massive plates on our 2-person table. Hubby enjoyed the biscuits and spicy pink gravy. Pancakes are tasty, fluffy. The breakfast sandwich, though, reminded me of hard times... the tiny sausage patty and fried egg only filled half my toast and I was left with empty bread. Maybe we should've tried the Breakfast Burrito...

I've been wanting to try this place for breakfast, but the hours have changed. I tend to go out walking early and Yelp has the hours posted as 6:00 a.m., but they do not open until 7:00 a.m., so today was my first opportunity to actually go in for breakfast after a couple of misses - timewise. I can see why they are opening later. Even at 7:00 a.m., I was the only patron. I asked the waitress for a recommendation of their breakfast specialties. She suggested the Breakfast Quesadilla. It was huge. I love mexican food for breakfast, so I ate the rice and beans and half the quesadilla. The other half will be for lunch :-) The breakfast quesadilla has scrambled eggs with chorizo, home fried potatoes, cheese and what appeared to be enchilada sauce. It was very good. Lots of food for a fair price. I'm not much of a biscuits and gravy person, so I'm glad I read the reviews on Yelp before coming here. When I read that the food had a mexican flair, I decided to try it despite the name. I'm sure I'll be back since I like to support local businesses.

Not good, won't try it again. Food was cold, under seasoned (if seasoned at all) and overall poor quality. To many shortcuts, seems to me this is a "Poop & Scoop" diner. Quantity over quality loses again. I tried the Breakfast Burrito and it was horrific. Whoever slapped it together did not care. It was surrounded with instant rice and beans from a can and lettuce that had seen better days. The only thing that had acceptable heat was the beans. There was a sauce dumped on top of the burrito that covered almost the entire plate. Typically when you drown a dish in sauce you are trying to cover something up. if that was the idea it was an epic FAIL I had the same problems the first time I visited but wanted to give it a second try, seems this is the M/O.

Biscuits is an quick service diner. If you sit at the counter, you can watch the staff speak in English and Spanish and quickly serve up all sorts of yummy breakfast dishes. I've eaten there a couple of times. You can sit outside, but I don't suggest it. The service outside is not as good. I've ordered both the American breakfast and the breakfast quesadilla. I like the American-style breakfast better, mostly because I'm not into spicy food. The breakfast quesadilla was flavorful, and I would recommend it. My friend always orders the chorizo scramble and loves it. Overall it's a no-frills kind of place where you can get a quick meal.

This is a good place where you can't decide you either want American or Mexican food. They have a variety here. From eggs to Hamburgers to Tacos. You name it. This place suited our needs perfectly and I ordered my American breakfast combo and my bf tried hard taco and he likes it. Good but not great. Most likely not going to drive 15 mins to get breakfast here but if I happen to be near, I'd stop by.

Food was cheap, portions were large. You get what you paid for, maybe a bit more. Service was adequate. La Parada downtown has similar prices and portions, but the overall quality of the food and service is far superior.

I would say we are regulars here. We love their spicy biscuits and gravy and the fact that we leave stuffed for about 15 dollars. Had their mexican fare for dinner one night and it is standard el rodeo type. The breakfast food at 3pm when is where its at.The place is packed for brunch. I dont care for the ambiance but atleast it is cheap eats!

I think this place is only good if you have a hangover and can't decide between biscuits and gravy or Mexican food. If you're in your right mind, you can find much better breakfast and/or Mexican restaurants in Indy.

Definitely a no frills kind of dining. I have been looking high and low for a "go to" breakfast joint. Grease spoon, high end, it don't matter to me, just give my breakfast. With a handful of places bookmarked, the wife and I made our way out to Broad Ripple. AMBIENCE- definitely seems to be more on the grease spoon diner kind of operation. This place was packed on Sunday morning literally. People barely have elbow room as they were sardined in there. What I thought was interesting also, was the type of people that were coming in and out. Yeah there were a bunch of college aged kids, but there were also families, and older folks. This seemed to be a local favorite, and outside of the location, I'm not quite sure why. SERVICE- our server was all business and not much else. Don't get me wrong, she wasn't rude, or inattentive, but the goal of this place seemed to be to get you in and out as quick as they can. And for as busy as they were, I didn't really blame her. MENU- as someone else pointed out, they've also adopted Mexican food to this place. So in addition to your typical diner food, they also had Mexican favorites. I wasn't too interested in them, as I just wanted my traditional breakfast. They had a number of different combos, of which I'm sure anyone can find something they're craving. FOOD- the wife ordered eggs, bacon, and hash browns, while I opted for the country fried steak and eggs. We also decided to split an order of hotcakes, which proved to be challenging (more on that in a second). Both of our orders came with biscuits and gravy. My wife opted for the traditional gravy while I elected go get the spicy gravy. When our food came out, the first thing that came to my mind was why is my gravy pink? I'm not sure what they put in it, but it tasted fine to me. Country fried steak wasn't the best I had, but it did the trick. My wife's order pretty much met her expectations as well. As for the pancakes, there was hardly any room on our table, no, there was NO room on our table for them. We had to rearrange quite a bit to make room for them. Though we ordered plain pancakes, they came out with chocolate chips, which certainly didn't hurt them. OVERALL- I'm not a huge fan of being rushed when I'm trying to enjoy my favorite meal. The food was decent, the prices are fair, but for me to drive out there just for that, I really didn't think it was worth it. People local to broad ripple, or in the area, rock out. Celebrity Rating- Jeff Daniels

Service: Great. one spanish woman serving the whole place, it was slow and she was very attentive and friendly. Food: Great. I had a craving this morning for Biscuits and Gravy. Boy, this place cured the craving!! They serve Breakfast food till 3pm, afterwards the menu is mainly diner style food with a mexican influence. Atmosphere: Cozy for a diner style place... It was clean, well organized. Some decor that was not overwhelming, although made me feel like someone cared about esthetic value. Price: inexpensive. full order of Biscuits and gravy; 3 large biscuits with plenty of gravy: $5. (i am full to the brim) there is a half portion for $3. Everything else was inexpensive too. Overall, biscuits was a great breakfast choice! i was able to connect to a free wifi once i registered called surfintown. I am using it to write this review.

VALUE! The prices are great here! $5.99 gets you just about anything you want. My wife and I go here often when we meet friends from the north. It's a great midway location. The pink gravy may look odd, but it's good. The service is fast and the food is always good. It would get 5 stars if the coffee was a little bit better.

This place was packed at noon on a Saturday so we took a seat at the counter next to all the stacked plates, but we didn't mind. The behind the counter speedy cooking in spanish was kind of fun to watch. Interesting mix of American diner and Mexican food. We wanted breakfast but looked like plenty of people were there for lunch as well. I had a combo breakfast with their namesake's biscuits with gravy, spicy por favor! I love biscuits n gravy and theirs was no exception. The gravy was pink but not too fiery and surprisingly not too heavy either. My husband had the huevos rancheros with salsa verde, side of beans and tortillas. The plates were big and we cleaned them off! Not sure how authentic the rest of the Mexican options are, but prices are cheap and we'd come here again for breakfast.

Huh. I totally disagree with Byron--I love Biscuits! But then, I've only really experimented with the Mexican, which is good, or the titular biscuits, which are fabulous. Light, fluffy, with a delicious pork gravy--mmmm. They're everything biscuits are meant to be. Get a big ol' plate of them and get busy. Failing that, I recommend the lovely burrito. It is, indeed, lovely. However, this isn't the place to grab a light bite. This is seriously heavy, greasy, nasty (in that wonderful way) grub. And I've never found the staff to be rude at all--there's a really sweet waitress with colorful plastic jewelry and colorfully-dyed hair in here that I always love to see.

Finally got to try this place! It wasn't under the circumstances I had been recommended to go or anticipated going (hungover), but it was delicious, nonetheless. I ordered the breakfast burrito, and it filled up one of those plates used to serve a bunch of hors'doeuvre. It was crammed full of mexican breakfast potatoes, chorizo, cheese, and I had them add jalapenos and then smothered in sauces. It was really tasty. One friend had an omelette, which didn't look to be anything too special while the other one ordered the skillet breakfast which had their pink-tinted spicy gravy. He said it was good. Just like any mexican food, if your intestinal tract is not used to it, just be prepared later. (TMI?) Anyway, I definitely recommend this place. Speedy, friendly service, too, and definitely great hangover food - it'd hit the spot.

I have eaten here mainly for breakfast, but the juevos rancheros was amazing. We did stop in and eat chips and salsa and my wife got one tamale for a snack. Both were great. The salsa was a little spicy, which I enjoy and the tamale was home made and delicious. We'll be back.

I love this place. The only reason I give it 4 is the service. If you go when they are busy things get forgotten. Like silverware and things. Try the #1 with spicy gravy. I go there almost every week now for Sunday morning breakfast.

Part diner, part dive, Biscuits this is THE place to get your grub on for breakfast and lunch in Broad Ripple. With a mix of traditional diner food, breakfast and Mexican, there really is something for everyone. There is even a vegetarian section of Mexican offerings. I highly recommend the chicken and chorizo quesedilla. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge--a great value in the sea of Broad Ripple's over-priced breakfast options.

The most memorable thing about this greasy spoon is its ginormous plates. I recommend going here with three people to avoid getting a two-top, especially if you plan to order a side of anything. My companion and I ordered a short stack of pancakes on the side and had to play Tetris with condiments to get everything to fit on the table. And our plates were still hanging out over our laps. I love breakfast, I love diners, and Biscuits definitely serves up the right kind of food. I appreciated that the eggs were well done and the shredded hashbrowns were crispy. The coffee wasn't terrible. But the stackable chairs and the musical servers leached any real diner-y charm from my Biscuits experience. I plan to return to try some of their Mexican fare, probably after having a few drinks.

have been on a sat/sun morning when i was less than impressed with the service, but i'll keep going based on the food and my weekday service. haven't had any of the mexican food yet, but as others say, perfect for that "morning after" breakfast...and budget friendly since I spent more than I should have the nite before typically. had one of the skillets with eggs, hash browns, gravy, and cheese...delic.

Outstanding place for breakfast/brunch in Broad Ripple. The menu boasts half diner half Mexican entrees. I personally enjoy the breakfast selections. The gravy comes in mild & spicy, but it's not super spicy. If you get the option, try their salsa verde, it's really good. My personal favorite menu item is the biscuit's skillet. It's a hash brown bed with eggs & cheese, topped with bacon & gravy. It's a lot of food, so come prepared or with 2. There will be a wait after 11:00AM on the weekends, and it's worth it. The staff is friendly, and has been quick to take my order & refill my drink. The price is usually $7-$12 depending on drink & tip. I try to go at least one time a month.

This was my favorite place for breakfast in Broad Ripple, but I won't ever go back. The service is terrible and they never charge the prices that are listed on the menu. The last time I went, the waitress charged an extra $2 and when I showed her the menu price all she said was "well it's a big burrito."

Combine an American diner with a Mexican restaurant, and somehow you'll end up with Biscuits. Although the math doesn't add up, the namesake biscuits are still damn good. The menu focuses on breakfast with both the typical American options as well as some hearty Mexican flare. Popular after a night of heavy drinking in Broad Ripple Reviews Stephanie - Huevos Rancheros with Green Salsa. Amazing. Although we had confusion on my potatoes. Menu says rice and beans, ordered extra potatoes, and came to find out that meant I got potatoes for my entree as well as on the side. Good thing my dogs like potatoes. Cale - Biscuit with Spicy Gravy, Hashbrowns, and a Pork Tenderloin Sandwich The biscuits and gravy rocked - spicy, pink, and heavy. Excellent. Tenderloin was extra large and doused with mayanoise. I'll be able to bring half of it home. Mayonaise comes in a packet from some unknown company - this ain't no Hellman's. It does provide a nice lubricant for the breaded loin though. Mark - Combo #3 - Cheese Omelet, Hashbrowns, Bacon These may have been the best hasbrowns I've ever had - cooked long enough to give them that crunchy browness but still soft inside. The omlette was a a bit weak with cheese on overload that had already gone back to it's unmelted form. Bacon was cooked well and still soft. Just right. The Meat of the Matter Would we go back? Definitely. This is great hangover food. Staff: 5 out 5. Always on it. Overall Rating: 4 out 5. Cheap food with good people and an odd mix of a menu.

I love Biscuit! If you are looking for a variation on the typical breakfast eatery, Biscuit is the restaurant for you. They combine Mexican cuisine with typical breakfast fare. The service is great. Rarely have we had to wait for a table and the wait staff is always refilling drinks, quick to take orders, and the food arrives quickly. The serving sizes are plentiful -- the breakfast burritos are HUGE! Come with an empty stomach. The prices are very affordable. Highly recommend Biscuit!

Well, I went here for dinner during that little monsoon we had last night and I liked it ok. They weren't really thrilled with my entrance, I assume this since they made it a point to turn all the "OPEN" signs off. The food was marginal, and the service, well it was non-existent, the lady was clearly tired and wanted nothing to do with me. I had the club, which is stacked way to high to be edible. The ham is too salty and I don't know what kind of bread they use, but it was even salty, go figure. The place used to be just a regular diner, if I recall correctly, but I could be wrong. Now it's a diner and a Mexican restaurant. Since my streak of luck lately with new Mexican joints hasn't been so good, I went with some more classic American fare. All in all, it was ok. They are open late so the drunk factor would make it a lot better I think. Oh, and the iced tea, was simply disgusting.

Eggs meets tacos. The cafe now serves Mexican food, hamburgers, and breakfast food. The enchilada was -- in a word -- awful. The salad came with a "balsamic vinagrette" that looked like used oil. The hamburger, by contrast, was excellent and the fries weren't bad either. The salsa with the chips and salsa was mediocre. The chips were strange. In a word, this place should have stuck to breakfast entrees. If you want Mexican, you may want to go elsewhere.

Breakfast is great here. The eggs, bacon and hash browns are wonderful, with very much of a cooked at home feel. The biscuits and gravy, either style, are the best that I have had in Indianapolis. Haven't had dinner yet, thus cannot comment.

This is a no frills place. We got in and we ordered. We both had the biscuits and gravy, with spicy gravy. While we were waiting on our food, we had a slight problem with a number of gnats. Decent place to grab food, the wait staff is friendly and was quick to offer refills on drinks. Food was plentiful and good.

Great diner food. Surprising menu which is greatly expansive compared to the name. Very casual environment. Went on Sunday around noon and it was very busy. Service was great-drinks always filled and they had many servers to handle the crowd. I love the mix of traditional american food with mexican. The Mexican breakfast burrito and quesadilla were great. They come with rice and beans on a gigantic plate. The kids menu for beakfast is affordable and plentiful. Kids chicken fingers seemed pricey ($6.50). For two adults and a child our meal was $26 before tip. The people next to us got the burger, which looked equally as large and yummy. Good mix of people, all ages, students, families, etc.

Breakfast is the only reason to go here, the more hungover you are the better. You will get a giant greasy plate of food for under $10. I had lunch here once, it wasn't too bad, but there are better mexi food places in broad ripple.

Biscuits is simply the best. A mexican style breakfast to really bring friends and close ones together. Some of my fondest memories that I can remember recently have occurred at Biscuits. The #9 combo, Biscuits Skillet, and Sausage Scramble are all solid options. I recommend ordering some chips and salsa before your breakfast to really capture the moment. Friendly and efficient wait staff makes for a comfortable visit. They also have some of the best coffee in town. Do not let this one slip past you Indianapolis.

I disagree with byron as well, sorry bud. My initial thought is who the heck orders a club at Biscuits? That's like ordering a cheese burger at a chinese joint. At any rate Biscuits is an amazing place not only for its delicious traditional mexican grub, but it's hilarious hungover clientele on Sunday mornings.....

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
