This is my favorite restaurant to visit for my dinner breaks. I visit here around twice a week. This is one of those places you can always look forward to going to. The service is very friendly, the food is high quality, the price is extremely reasonable, the scenery is pleasant. I have never had a meal at BBI that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. For some reason, I just feel happy when I walk in the door. It is very welcoming. Today, the owner told me to try the Chorizo Taco (I like taking recommendations). These tacos had so much flavor. I honestly believe these were the best tacos I have ever had!. My usual items are the Grilled Pastrami, which comes and a salad that has delicious salad dressing on it, or I will have the Double Decker, with the southwest bean salad. I am not a salad guy by any stretch of the imagination, but everything this place makes is amazing! Recently I had their Monte Cristo Sandwich. I have never had a breakfast sandwich quite like that. It packed a huge punch of flavor. The bread for all their sandwiches is very good. The bread is always perfect. The bread is never hard, and always flavorful. I have had all of these dishes to eat before at other places, or at home, but this place does something truly unique and special with their food. You can tell they they do not skimp out on quality. Everything is perfect. If you are close to BBI at all, even within an hour, I would definitely recommend trying this place at least once, but you will go back again and again. Just look at the other ratings and you will see that the opinion is uniform across all of the customers.

Overpriced, small meals, and if you're ordering delivery don't expect it to be right. I don't order here any more because the food is just bland and we end up starving an hour later bc the portions are so tiny. Nothing memorable on the menu that stands out.

I took two out of town guests to Bbi last week for breakfast, and they were quite pleased. The coffee is consistently good, and the service is always first rate. While I thought it was a comfortable place, the new furnishings and equipment have truly made Bbi even better. Be sure to try the booth seating by the wall.

Delicious!!!! The cashier told me I would be back and she was correct! There is so much on the menu-love the variety! Spinach omlette and chicken curry soup was my choice and it did not disappoint my taste buds!!!! I love this place!!!!!!

This awesome lunch spot has been open for dinner now since December. Hours are Monday-Saturday until 8 pm, making what was a favorite lunch I could take advantage of only infrequently now a favorite stop for dinner! Their sandwiches are perfection, the sweet potato fries crispy and hot, the salads large and fresh, the soups comforting, and the atmosphere is of a relaxed bistro. Once you order at the counter and pay, you are given a number and the food is brought to your table. I recommend the Chicken Dagwood sandwich (avocado, lettuce, bacon, tomato, and grilled chicken on white bread toast) or the Chicken Chipotle sandwich (Grilled sandwich with grilled chicken, lettuce, cheese, and a perfect spicy Chipotle sauce). The owners are very nice, and you will meet the whole family if you arrive after school is out. tl;dr - Great food, Go now!

Alright, I did my due diligence and went back to this place for lunch to give it another shot so I wasn't misjudging it based on only 1 visit. They earned at least another star from my first experience, and probably more fairly they ended somewhere around 3.5 stars for me, if that was an option. To start with, the lady at the front was much more pleasant than the person working during my first experience, and greeted us as we came in with a smile and friendly hello. I got a chicken dagwood sandwich, which had a tasty grilled chicken breast topped with bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, provolone, mayo, and avocado on sourdough bread. The only thing I would have changed about it was the bread being really really buttery to the point where it was kind of soggy, and the avocado left a little to be desired, but it is definitely something I would get again as opposed to my last choice. I'm not sure how many people they have preparing food here, but it ended up that 3 people's food got brought out pretty quickly and in close succession while one of us was left waiting a little longer for their order to come up. It's not a big deal, but personally, I'd rather wait five extra minutes to get my food than have it while somebody else at my table was still waiting, since we're not going to eat until they have theirs anyway. Overall, the service was extremely improved, the food was better, and I left much more satisfied than I did before I wrote my last review of BBI. The price of $7 for a medium sized sandwich and chips still seems a little high to me, but you could do worse elsewhere. I'll probably order my bread to not be buttered/oiled like they do normally if I get back here for lunch again, but they've changed my overall perception and I would recommend going here if you want a quick sandwich for lunch. I managed to avoid getting a cookie this time, but only just barely. I do want to try their soup sometime as all 4 of the choices they had available looked really good.

First time going to this place, i got the veggie delight. All the veggies and bread were fresh, good size, probably better without the kraft single and perhaps a little less mayo but over all a good sandwich. The fruit cup was amazing, kiwi, pineapple, cantaloupe and grapes. The cookies are pretty much the most delicious things ever and huge!! They have sweet delicious iced coffee. Only bad thing...they forgot my soup...should have checked the bag.

Brown Baggin' It; true to it's name, this place is a great stop for lunch. They have a good array of choices and offer some pretty healthy ones at that. The staff is always very nice and gracious and will bring your order out hot after it's prepared from scratch. It usually takes about 10-15 minutes for the food, but they have a good selection of fresh lemonades, teas, and a really good iced-mocha drink to take your mind off the wait. I usually go with the half-tomato soup/half-spinach-apple salad or one of their wraps (the best two options are the bbq-chicken or Cesar, in my opinion). If you're looking for something a bit more savory, try the bacon-grilled cheese sandwich, probably the best grilled cheese I've ever had in my life. Order a half and dip it in the tomato soup. They also have some excellent baked goods for an afternoon dessert; brownies that will knock your socks off and cookies as big as your head - go with the peanut butter or oatmeal-chocolate chip! Just don't expect any high-output productivity to follow...

The Reuben is as good as I've ever had. Their veggie sandwich is every bit as good as that. The service is unbelievably quick, and always friendly. Very gracious, well-deserving owners who put out a consistently well-made plate everytime.

New ownership ruined it. I used to be a regular. Took friends and family there. Was a 8-9. Now its a 2-3. Got a microwaved piece of chicken on stale white bread. They called it a chicken sandwich. Never again.

Our family treats ourselves to BBI at least once a week. My favorite is breakfast, but the menu is delicious all day. The owners treat you like family, which is one of the main reasons we return. Delicious food, great atmosphere, and kind people. Eat local and enjoy.

This is a great lunch place! Not only do I like to go here on occasion, but I learned about it because so many of my co-workers go there and get catering from there. They have really good sandwiches and soup and definitely check it out for lunch. Another aspect that I really appreciate is that they will learn who you are on a first name basis.... especially when you manage as many take out orders as I have! This is place gets really busy for lunch, so plan for that, but the service is pretty fast. And for the sake of your own sanity, you must get a cookie. Don't even think about it twice, just get the cookie. The peanut butter with chocolate chips is something a bit different. So if you work or live near the NW Indy area, you need to go here. It's more of a hidden gem since it's a bit back from the road, but it's well worth the effort getting there.

This is an awesome restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I look forward to seeing what the day's special is as it is always a welcoming surprise! The meals are always fresh and well-seasoned and the portions are very generous. You can never go wrong with the hamburgers and they offer some very tasty and unique selections. The soups are always wonderful as well. The food is ALWAYS fresh and delicious. This is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Indy.

Breakfast, the most important meal of the day. I'll admit I haven't been to BBI much for lunch (although the handful of times I have, it's been great) However, it is my go to spot for breakfast if I'm going out on a weekday. First and foremost, I'm a biscuits and gravy fiend. If I'm going out for breakfast, or cooking, chances are some form of starch and gravy mixture will make an appearance. I also love hashbrowns, and eggs for breakfast. Put them all together and you get the BBI biscuits and gravy. While I've had other items here, none were as memorable as there biscuits and gravy. Service is always very friendly and there prices are very reasonable. The owner is usually the one who takes your order and she always makes you feel very welcome. I can highly recommend this place if you need a good breakfast or lunch on the NW side of Indy.

My family decided to let me choose a restaurant as a belated Father's Day present. I checked my wishlist and found Bbi, which I had put on there about a year ago. It was 7:45 and we were 10 min away, they closed at 8. I called, Amin answered the phone and said no problem. We got there right at 8. His adorable daughters made friends with mine right away and he told us all about the menu. I had the chicken Dagwood, which was excellent. Not too many condiments that it took away from the taste. My wife isn't a fan of eating bread so she was happy to see entree choices on the menu as well. The food came out and they even gave us a sampler of soups to try with our meal. The curry soup was out of this world! They only have it on special periodically but the baked potato soup and chicken chili were great as well. Don't hesitate to try this place out. For myself, the monte cristo is the next item on my list. It's great to know good people like Amin and his family can still be successful while running an extremely reasonably priced restaurant with unbelievable food. Overall it was a great dining experience and judging from the ratings, that is the norm and not the exception.

Great lunch joint! Local and family owned BBI has an interesting menu and yummy food. The daily soups are made fresh from scratch, and I am totally addicted to the chicken salad there. You can get half a sandwich and a cup of soup for just $5.00. They also have monthly lunch specials that are items not on the regular menu. Why 4 stars you might be asking? A couple of times they have gotten my to go order incorrect. But that's mostly my fault for not checking it before I leave.

  • Dan Z.

I had the Cobb wrap and fries. The wrap was large and tasty! My wrap was so full that the bottom came unwrapped. The fries were great too! The wait was longer than I thought, but worth it! They forgot to bring me napkins, but rectified that quickly I'm here on business and was looking for a local sandwich shop! I'll be back!

This is a follow up to my previous post. I've been to bbi twice since my a-okay experience and have been impressed. The food may take a couple minutes longer, but the chicken was definitely grilled to order and has been very fresh. A great stop for lunch during the work week - now I'll have to try the breakfast.

In a land of fast food franchises and all you can eat buffets, Blanca and her daughter Carla run this amazing little place with so much love and attention! I used to come here almost every day when I worked on 62nd, and get a half sandwich and half salad deal for around $5. The chicken salad is out of this world...

BBI may not have a gluten free menu, but they have a nice selection of salads that are GF and they can make any sandwich into a lettuce wrap! Yes, a lettuce wrap. They have different soups every week, usually at least one of them GF. The food is always so fresh and the place has been packed every time I've gone.

Bbi is awesome! I had potato soup and a cesar salad for lunch. The salad was spot on with some big delicious pieces of onion, a tasty dressing, crisp lettuce, and a healthy dose of parmesan. The place quickly became pretty packed with people from surrounding businesses and everybody seemed very happy with their meals, as was I! The owners are great and very friendly. The cookie selection is seriously dangerously delicous. I had a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie that was absolutely fantastic. I can't say enough good things about Bbi, I will definitely be back for lunch on many occasions. I love seeing a local business like Bbi doing well, and they certainly are.

Love this little place. Reminds me of the corner deli in Chicago. They treat every customer great. They actually ask how your day is. Who does that anymore. Lots of choices. Great portions and healthy food at a reasonable price. Been there twice around lunch and it was packed both times but never a long wait. Would highly recommend it for lunch. Nice refreshling change from Franchiseville.

There are not a lot of delic places on the west side of Indy..This cozy sandwich bar is packed with people!! Amazingly it's very fast and efficient. The food is really really good..and they have a lot of healthy choices. The owner and people who work here treat you like your family. I highly recommend the soups for the upcoming cold weather.

Loved this place! I'm from SC so I rely on Yelp to find local places, and bbi cafe did not disappoint. I had the gyro sandwich which was the best I have ever tasted! You should come here for that alone, or your could try the Ultimate Grilled cheese with Bacon sandwich that my daughter devoured. So good. I wish this little cafe was in my neighborhood back home, looks like there would be lots more tasty things to try!

Chef Amir and his wife have been kind and wonderful during my time around visiting his restaurant. This really is a family restaurant run by a family. The food is outstanding and I'm happy to have found a gem during my time in Indianapolis. Thank you again Amir for your kind words, help, and fantastic food! -Matt AMP guy

Not shabby. This is definitely a no-frills establishment but you could definitely tell the chicken noodle soup was made from scratch - I thoroughly enjoyed the large carrot chunks. My soup was paired with broccoli salad which reminded me of a church pitch-in version of broccoli salad. Ya know, the kind that's super soggy and swimming in sugar. Bbi is a great spot for those craving sandwiches, soups and salads (they also have tasty french fries - that pair nicely with your healthy soup -consider it a trade off ;). You'll find ample seating both inside and out and food is ordered at the counter.

I'm sad to see a good business go downhill. My last review of this restaurant recommended it as a great place to visit. Unforyunately, I can't recommend it again. While it is clean and welcoming, the reason I go to a restaurant is primarily the food. I ordered the fish (cod) and fries. I was served two mismatched pieces of fish and a side of soggy fries with excessive seasoning. I'm not sure if I have cod and some mystery fish, two mystery fish pieces, or what. I hope that this isn't what BBI is now passing off as good, local food.

Amin & Nancy will take great care if you at BBI CAFE. I haven't had everything on the menu but everything I have eaten here has been delicious. Portions are huge. Make the trip over and enjoy a great meal.

I live very close to this location and was hoping I would like it more than I did. I got a salad that had so much water in it that it grossed me out. My husband got a burger that was dry. The only great thing in my opinion was the fries, but my husband didn't like those either. I might try it again sometime.

Very good! Secret-stash material here. If BBI was in Broad Ripple, downtown, or Fountain Square, it would be mobbed! Great food, great coffee (in HUGE cups!), and gracious service. The gyros are especially good, and the biscuits & gravy (with an egg on top!) are a home run!

We had a great late lunch here. Very personal and friendly. Everything was really good. I recommend the gyro. The place was really clean. I wish we lived closer so we could come here more often. My husband came here for work so if we visit again we will definitely come back. Thanks for the chocolate covered strawberries they were delicious!!!

I live right across the street from this place and for a few years never ate there. One day, we decided to try it for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised. I ordered the create your own sandwich choosing the marbled rye, ham, American cheese, lettuce, red onion, black olives and avocado spread. It came with a side. I chose pasta salad. The bread made this sandwich because it was soft and flavorful. The pasta salad had a vinaigrette dressing which is not one of my favs, but it was still good. Husband and son #1 ordered ham sandwiches as well, but on different bread and with pepper jack cheese. Son #2 ordered a cheeseburger and he chose chips as his side as did my husband and son #1. Very good. Recently I've had breakfast from there.....eggs, potatoes, toast and fresh melon which all were very tasty. Great place to eat....great atmosphere Good food

I used to work at this location when it was a convenience store so I was so excited to see that it was repurposed to something really nice. It was a delight to walk in there with memories of my teenage years and see it transformed. BBI Is such a sweet and quaint place off of Georgetown road. I've only been there for lunch -They serve soups and sandwiches. Nice portions of yummy combinations. There are almost always huge cookies to finish your meals off too. You can also find wraps and burgers. I'm not a huge fan of the burgers-they taste pre-made, but the sandwiches are sooooo good. This place is definitely worth checking out.

We have visited bbi's multiple times, today for breakfast, biscuits and gravy were excellent. They are very hospitable. Have not been disappointed, they have a buffalo chicken salad, which is amazing. The chicken gyro does not disappoint, it is a different gyro experience and is quite tasty.

Family-owned business at its best. Great food prepared with a passion for service. I came in with about 20 minutes left before closing and got the Pastrami sandwich and house salad. The horseradish was perfect along with a sneaky pickle to back it up. House salad had bleu cheese dressing and a raspberry vinaigrette mix--awesomeness!!! I was glad I went off the beaten path for a locals-only Indy experience!

Stumbled upon Bbi when shopping nearby, and now I wish I lived close enough to be a regular! Huge selection of sandwiches, soups, etc. I had the chicken curry soup and half a steak sandwich lunch combo. That soup was amazing, rich and flavorful, big pieces of tender roast chicken, and not too strong on the curry. I'm wishing I'd ordered some to take home. The sandwich was on toasted buttery sourdough bread, with a couple nice pieces of roast beef, sauteed onions and some other things ... very good. My husband enjoyed his reuben. The owner was very friendly, said they could make anything to order to suit our tastes. He even surprised us with free cookies at the end of the lunch! Will definitely go again when in the neighborhood.

This place is definitely off the beaten path and easy to miss if you're not looking for it. It's a staple of me and my coworkers regular haunts for lunch! Their sandwiches, soups, and salads are very good. They have regular daily specials that aren't typically offered on the regular menu. The owner is there pretty much every time we go taking orders and making sure the guests are happy! Be sure to pick up a SpotOn card so that you can get points every time you go to redeem for discounts and/or freebies! They're very accommodating so special requests aren't usually a problem for them. The giant cookies are delicious, and it's hard to resist getting one every time I go. All in all, a surprisingly good little unassuming spot off of 59th & Georgetown Rd.

The soups here are made from scratch and are really good, and the owner and all the employees are super friendly and accommodating. It's a very clean restaurant too. The menu is a mixture of American foods with Greek and Mexican too. Kind of a weird combination but everything I've had has been done well. You order at the counter, take a number, fill your own beverage, and find a seat (there's plenty of seating). They'll bring your food out. I highly recommend the Chicken Curry soup...probably my favorite soup in the city after RGD's Hot Pot Pig. They also volunteered samples of their other soups. Location is on Georgetown Rd between 56th and 62nd, so it's very near Northwestway Park and truthfully only about 5-7 minutes off I-65. They have the corner spot in a small strip mall and there is shaded outdoor seating as well. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I think they're open until 8pm.

I took a friend here today for his birthday lunch. He wanted an egg salad sandwich that was not on the menu. Owner said "eggs, celery, onion, mustard & mayo". We can do that. That is service. Lunch a full sandwich, a side and drinks $6.99. You cannot eat at McDonalds as good or as cheap

So happy to have this place in my neighborhood. As a restauranteur in indy's nw side, I'm always excited to see other locally owned restaurants like this one going up all the time. You know the type. The place where there is someone with a financial stake in the business actually prepping your order. So refreshing. I'm gonna check out this thanksgiving dinner Mondays thing.

Lucky to have such a hidden gem like this near my house. Although they didnt always have my order right, thefood was always delicious and the service was incredibly friendly and personable. Have loved to watch them grow!

The place had just started opening for dinner so it was kind of sparse inside as I was the only one there. I ordered a spinach salad. It was extremely fresh to eat. I would say that although there there are not a ton of really clean eating options you certainly can make do here...

Last visit was so good I wanted to come back soon to try additional breakfast options. The waitress taking our order at the counter was just as friendly as the last time as well as the owner/chef. Our order took a little under 15 minutes to prepare and deliver which is reasonable since it's made to order. By the way, breakfast served until 11:00. This trip I tried the Spinach Omelette with wheat toast. It's made with 3 eggs, fresh baby spinach, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, and cream cheese. Every vegetable in the omelet was incredibly fresh and the vegetables were lightly sauté. The omelet was fluffy and cooked medium to well. Perfect, fresh, delicious and I'll be ordering again. My husband had the (Brown Bagging It) bbi biscuits and gravy with is two biscuits topped with a medium fried egg (runny), now add homemade cubed hash browns, then smothered all in sausage gravy. My husband really enjoyed it but was surprised they didn't note on the menu how the egg is cooked or ask. He knew I'd die if I had a runny egg yolk sitting in my biscuits and gravy. He, however, didn't mind since he enjoys over medium eggs. All our food was delivered hot and the waitress kept my coffee cup full which is extremely important to me. I'm officially naming this one of my favorite breakfast spots especially when I want a healthy omelet with fresh ingredients. My husband was impressed with the ingredients AND with the reasonable prices. I'll be returning soon to devour new breakfast selections and move on to lunch.

Stopped in to this place for lunch after seeing many positive reviews on yelp. It did not disappoint! The gyro special was one of the best I have had in the Midwest to date. Fast and friendly service with quality ingredients makes this place a gem. Definitely recommend!
