Oh how I wish Acropolis was in the northwest part of town; I have yet to find a nice Greek restaurant in my part of town. The food here reminds me of going to my friend's yia-yia's house for dinner; wonderful Greek comfort food always makes me feel warm and happy. I was sort of apprehensive about eating dinner there because we were the only patrons. A quick check of my Yelp app eased my worries. Dillon had the Pastichio (baked macaroni dish) and I ordered Mousaka, a fried egg-plant, lasagna-like dish. I'm pretty sure my dietitian would have a field day telling me how many calories I ate, but I don't care! And, holy wow, can I get another order of potatoes?? I need to learn how to make Greek potatoes! Tip: do not leave without trying galactobouriko (try saying that 10x) dessert..nóstima!

Service was good. Food was homey. Expensive for quality and portion size. Had house special meatballs over rice w/ beans and potato. It was $13.00 for 4 meatballs. Might go back.

Service was great and very helpful and extremely friendly even with us coming in just before closing time. Food was amazing from beginning to end. The owner was super nice and from the moment we walked in began giving my 9 yr old daughter a hard time, in a playful way of course. Portions were huge-enough for two people to split or enough to take home. Lamb just fell off the bone--you didn't even need a knife.

This was the worst greek I have ever had. Service was slow and the place was kind of dumpy which originally I thought would be a good sign (love dive restaurant food). There was only one other couple there when we went so that was alarming as well. Read on here the reviews but it did not live up to it! There is a great greek restaurant around the corner.........google it. GO THERE!

Not a fan. I have had much better Greek food, and the portion size is a joke for the price. Service is friendly. To be honest, I think this place should close down soon. It is way below bar for what the average rating suggests it should be.

This place is a south side gem! If you want tasty, authentic, homemade Greek food this is the place. This is probably as close to being in a Greek home and having dinner as you will get. Don't let the location or appearance fool you. It looks like it might be sketchy just because of where it is and it doesn't get a ton of traffic. The food is amazing and service is friendly. By the way, it is very reasonably priced. The only thing I would change about this place is the hours; they close early and are closed a couple days a week.

Great place to eat, been going here for years. I usually order the Gyro, Moussaka, Dolmades, Taramasalata. The own is very friendly and the service is always good.

Good food. Comfortable My favorite: Spaghetti with Gyro- the sauce has a mild cinnamon favor. Very nice.

I'm giving this a higher rating than I would normally because I always see the parking lot empty and I feel like this place has never gotten the love it deserves. The food is always delicious and the service is always great. If you're a resident of the South side and drive past this place as much as I do and haven't given it a shot, DO IT! Even if you've never had Greek, I promise this is a great place to try.

As a former Indianapolis resident, let me tell you how lucky Indianapolis is to have great Greek choices. I now live in Cincinnati, where the only Greek food available are gyros. So, if you're just visiting Indianapolis, give some of those Greek restaurants a try! I promise it's more than meat in a pita. Acropolis serves amazing Greek comfort food. I usually get the moussaka, which is like an eggplant lasagna. I love the potatoes and green beans that accompany the entrees. They seem to be slow-cooked in olive oil and lemon juice. The place itself is pretty cute, and it can be more convenient than Santorini for south siders. The service has always been pretty good but not remarkable.

This was a great place to celebrate date night for my husband and me. We started out with the dolmathes. These were the best I have ever had. The grape leaves were so tender I could cut them with my fork. The lemon butter sauce was excellent! We both had the gyro platter and were not disappointed. It was a huge amount of food. The lamb was perfectly seasoned and the tzatziki sauce was great. I liked the potatoes that came with it. I also liked the green beans, although they were a bit mushy. This is as authentic as you can get. It was a quiet place for an excellent meal. We plan on returning in the near future.

You must come here if you love Greek! The owners are incredibly friendly, the environment is very cute, and the food is delicious! This is the perfect place to take the family to or to take a date! All of the food is good, but I highly recommend the dolmathes and the Lemon-Egg soup (you have to try it). The entrees' are a good size for splitting. If you are on a date, share an appetizer, each have a salad, and split an entree. You pretty much can't go wrong here!

I was really shocked to find that we were the ONLY patrons on a Friday during lunch. I mean from 11:30 - 1pm! The food was tasty, pretty authentic, and a lot of it for very little cash. If I'm ever in Southport again, I'll stop by!

Always tasty, family owned Greek restaurant. My favorite place to have a gyro, some saganki, and baklava. I'm always sad when they close up and go back to Greece for a month in August.

Acropolis isn't a bad place to go if you are a fan of Greek food and are on the south side. It can't compare to Santorini in terms of atmosphere, service and food quality, so I typically head to Fountain Square when a gyro or spanokopita craving beckons. But, I've ate at Acropolis several times and don't really have any complaints. My food has always tasted good but it's not quite presented with much flair. A simpler option than Santorini, but the prices are slightly lower as well. Acropolis, like many Greek and Mediterranean restaurants, has belly dancers perform on Friday and Saturday nights, so if you are looking for a little entertainment with your meal, it's a good bet. The restaurant is also family-owned.
