Eggcelent breakfast. See what I did there? But seriously the omelets are great, pancakes are huge and fluffy. Great service and nice people that own the place. The Border omelet is my favorite so far.

New owners, new menu! This is a winning proposition. The redecorated dining room is much more inviting, stylish, and comfortable than before. New entree items are better than before. Overall I like the change. The only negative for me is the coffee is not as good, however thatt is offset by real brewed iced tea.

I think you can judge how excellent a breakfast place is by their fruit salad and their potatoes. Think about it -- there the 2 things that are either really great or really disappointing. Both at A to Z were really great. The fruit salad was all of the good fruit -- pineapple, strawberries and mango -- no lame fruit in sight! And the potatoes were chunky and crispy, not dry. And for the not lame-o fruit salad, this place earned their 5th star. This place was great. It was recommended by Heather H and Jason B. When our go-to brunch places wasn't open on Memorial Day, we drive a bit further north to check out A to Z Cafe. I'm really glad we did. This place is pretty small in a big old strip mall on 96th street -- if you know where 96th St Steakburgers are, you've found where A to Z is. The service was attentive and friendly. And the food was excellent. We both got an omelet as it was the Monday special at only $5.99 per person (with 2 sides to boot--see above). My omelet had grilled chicken, avocado, salsa, spinach -- called the Popeye. Everyday they have a breakfast special. Every day they close at 2 pm. In addition to breakfast they also serve Italian food for lunch, I may go back to check that out, but I'm certain I'll be tempted to just keep going back for for breakfast.

I decided to venture out and try a new breakfast spot, and ended up at A2Z Cafe. While they didn't have a Gluten Free menu specifically, their omelet menu alone provided a huge variety of options compared to other breakfast joints. I ended up settling for the egg and feta omelet that had spinach and mushrooms as well. Since bread is a big no-no for me, I opted to get the breakfast potatoes. The meal was pretty good. The ingredients were fresh and the breakfast potatoes where awesome. They were not over cooked. I will definitely be making a trip back if I'm craving an omelet for breakfast.

This place is wonderful! Really nice/cozy atmosphere and a very friendly staff. My boyfriend and I split the A2Z omelette (with chorizo, spinach, goat cheese and bacon - yum!) and the A2Z sandwich. The omelette was incredible. The goat cheese with the chorizo was an incredible combination! My boyfriend is from Mexico and he said the chorizo is the best he's had in the States. The sandwich was good as well but had too much sundried tomato spread for my liking. If you like sundried tomatoes it's an excellent choice. I'll definitely be back!

Great Sunday Breakfast The blueberry pancakes (fresh blueberries ), fried biscuits (terrific), and a build your own omelette ( bacon, onion, mushroom with cream cheese) Yum Yum and the coffee is great. The restaurant is very clean, relaxing, comfortable and best yet, you can talk with friends without the overwhelming roar of the crowd. Really a nice place!! Bon Apeite

This is a great locally owned business. The owners are very friendly. The omelets and fried potatoes are amazing. We also tried the pancakes and biscuits and gravy. They were good, but you have to try an omelet. Our server was a little behind, however she was friendly. Enjoy!!!

Great food. Potatoes were great! All the food was cooked perfectly. Manager and owner are very friendly. My server on the other hand wasn't very nice and did a lazy job on making sure I was ok. Also I felt very rushed by her. Great food, great leadership, terrible server.

Going out to breakfast is a Monday morning tradition and today we were definitely craving something different. We stumbled upon A2Z cafe and we could not be happier! It was a nice cozy place. Very quite and the service was great! Fast and friendly! The boy got pancakes and eggs and I got the stuffed French toast (yum!). The serving sizes were perfect. I hate being absolutely stuffed after and meal and I walked out feeling great! We will definitely be back!

Our favorite place for breakfast/brunch. It doesn't look that good from the outside, but the inside is really cute! The spinach and feta eggs are my favorite.

This little cafe in a strip mall is really good! Portions are perfect. Went with the hubby and parents... between us we ordered two types of omelets, blueberry pancakes and I got a veggie Hot Breakfast Bowl with avocado. The eggs were over easy runny goodness into the bowl of really well seasoned veggies. I got the maple brown sugar English muffins with my meal. Looked like they added a maple butter with cinnamon sugar to a regular English muffin... it has a nice sweet and savory balance. Definitely coming back.

For breakfast and lunch, there's an option for everyone to enjoy. The menu has terrific variety and can accommodate special diets (vegan/gluten-free). Service is swift and friendly. This is my go-to cafe when I have visitors from out-of-town.

The cinnamon sugar english muffins are really good. Got a couple omelets here, would go back again.

A2Z Cafe is the best restaurant of its kind in the Indianapolis area. They have a wide variety of excellent breakfast and lunch items and the service and management are very friendly as well. Some of my favorites include Antonio's Pasta and the Tomato Bisque soup. I'd highly recommend A2Z Cafe to others!

    (5)
  • Patrick G.

Nothing to write home about. The lady had Tomato Bisque soup. It's her favorite soup by far, and a huge disappointment for her. "No better than Campbells', she remarked. We shared the Chicken Pesto Panini. (It was just okay) I also had their 'Award Winning Meatballs", and they weren't too bad, but nowhere near award winning. Plus the coffee was waay too strong. *meh*

I went from brunch with a friend just for the heck of it. If there is a dish that is named for the restaurant I typically order it. I figure it is a namesake for a reason. So, true to form, I ordered the A2Z Signature Omelet with bacon, chorizo, tomato, spinach, and goat cheese. It was really good. I would have put the goat cheese on the inside but the whole thing worked regardless. The bacon and chorizo work really well without overwhelming the clean taste of the tomatoes. As my two sides I got the potatoes (which were perfectly fried to a nice crunchy crisp) and the maple cinnamon English muffin. The latter was swiped with butter and maple cinnamon sugar which made it almost like candy, how awesome. I also am I sucker for cinnamon rolls and theirs were awesome. It's called "colossal" but it wasn't super huge, more the size of a Cinnabon. Nevertheless, it totally works, don't get me wrong. It's more than worth it. They don't smother it in icing but rather drench it, in the best way possible, in a maple cinnamon sugar glaze. It was flaky and divine. The place is tiny, maybe 15 tables, so be aware you may need to wait for a bit but I would say you won't be disappointed. Go for a lazy brunch and leave full and satisfied.

Large menu (particulary omelette). Highly recommended. Stopped by for breakfast this morning. I had steak eggs, and my wife had the sausage omelette. Steak was six ounce And about a half inch thick. It was properly done and flavorful. The potatoes were well seasons and very tasty. I asked for them extra crispy, and they had a nice crisp edge. The omelette was fluffy and well filled. My wife chose fruit for the side, and it was very good (it even included plums).

Went here on a Groupon, was pleasantly surprised with the food and service. I tried the A2Z Omelet with extra goat cheese, but I don't think I got the cheese even though it was on the bill. Just a bit sprinkled across the top. Maple cinnamon english muffins were great, we've started making them at home after trying them here! Yum.

  • Dawn T.

The food is really fresh and tasty. I've had omelettes and gyros. The fruit salad side dish is actually full of fruit like berries and mango, not just apples and grapes. The service has always been friendly. It seems to be slow though. Not to the point of being intolerable, but don't go if you're in a hurry. I like to think it is because they make the food as you order, and that's why it tastes so good.

Service was wonderful but food was so-so at best...plenty of other places for bfast that are much better. Won't be coming back.

We went to A2Z Cafe this morning for brunch. We had never been there before, but had heard good things about it. It definitely lived up to the Yelp reviews!! The prices are very reasonable, the service is great, and the food is wonderful. There are a lot of omelets to choose from, and the two we had were great. I chose the Athens omelet and my wife chose the A2Z omelet. Both were very good and filled with goodies. As for the service, our waitress was very nice and gave some suggestions on the menu. Our coffee cups never got less than 1/2 full before she offered to refill them. After we were seated and had placed our order, a group of six came in. The owner came over and asked if we would be willing to move tables because we were seated in the center and it was one of the few places that could be moved to accommodate the larger group. He was very polite and apologize for the inconvenience, which was not a big deal since we had not gotten our food yet. We agreed to move and they were appreciative--they even discounted our bill a little bit. Very good place that we will definitely visit again.

"HARK! Who goes there!!!" --- "It's me!! Delicious Breakfast!" "Huzzaa! I've found you Delicious Breakfast! At Last!" I was purchasing a car at the dealership across the street and needed to kill some time before meeting with the dealer. Being the E. 96th street area, your basic breakfast choices are car dealers, car dealers, a gravel company, and car dealers. Oh! and the A2Z Cafe! It's nestled away in a strip mall, but don't let that fool you. Read Heather H.'s review for details on the omelet. I got the vegetarian skillet. It had a bunch of veggies with 2 fried eggs on top. The veggies were cooked in a way that all of their individual flavors remained which means each bite was both a mix of the flavors together as well as being able to taste everything separately. It was pretty awesome. The OJ was very good. No flavorless yellow water here. There was a carafe of water on the table which saves you from having to keep asking for water if you are a quick drinker. Even the damn toast was good!. I know, it's just bread that's lightly scorched, but believe me that many places can mess that up. Highly recommended even if you don't live anywhere near the NE side. Make a morning of it. You won't regret it.

Yum Yum Yum! My husband and I had about two hours to kill before an engagement up on 96th St, so we decided to kill that time by having breakfast here and camping out with some coffee. The only thing that made me sad about my experience here is that I only just now found out about this fantastic place for breakfast. I certainly never would have thought to head up to a strip mall on 96th for the best omelet in town, but I'll be damned if that's not where I found it. I had the Italiano which was stuffed with mushrooms (I think they were marinated in something awesome, but I'm not certain), sun dried tomatoes, and fresh basil that was then topped with melted gouda. The ingredients were clearly quality, as the whole thing was incredibly flavorful. My husband had the vegetarian skillet, which was also really, really good, but I'll leave that for his review. They have Lavazza coffee there, of which I approve, and the orange juice wasn't minute maid - not sure if they make it in house, but it was good quality regardless. Our service was excellent and she did not seem to mind that we camped at her table for two hours (don't worry, we tip extra when we hang out forever!). The décor was lovely and the bathrooms were very clean. I left feeling full, but not heavy like I do at a lot of places after breakfast. I'll likely come back at some point to try their lunch or dinner, but I KNOW we will be back for more awesome breakfast.

Service - 3 stars Food - 1 star My wife and came here for breakfast during our visit in Indy. (we are from California) I ordered an omelet. There was nothing spectacular about it. It was just there. Kinda like rice cakes but with a bit more grease. My side of potatoes were greasy however. I took my napkin and tried to squeeze the grease out. The potatoes were mostly hollow with pockets of grease. Bottom line: the food lacked taste and was a bit on the greasy side. My stomach felt weighed down from all the grease for the next few hours.

The food was fantastic! I had pasta dish that was phenomenal. Olive Garden shouldn't dare call themselves a pasta joint after I ate here. The hours are a bit wonky (closed in the afternoon, tea time hours) and it's a very small venue (maybe 60 ppl tops) but it is locally owned and operated. The cabernet was nice without being too dry or bitter. The pasta was very creamy, delicious, not overcooked like most pasta places serve it. I always ask for mine al dente because I don't like mushy pasta, but the penne here was great! The owner is a nice guy too, always open to suggestion and truly wants your feedback. The only thing that would keep me from eating here more often is the price. I try not to overdo it and keep w/in my dining out budget. For me, dining out is fun but it's not the focus of my budget, so I keep it to a minimal, trying to stretch my dollars as much as possible. However, I love that this place is locally owned. I hate chain restaurants. Let's keep the money local & help our own economy! Okay, here endeth the rant. Back to the review: All in all: Very tasty, great owner, ok price, easy to find and get to, lots of parking. :)

3 stars. Generous. I really, really wanted to like A2Z, and I did, but I had set the bar high, and that's risky. My bad. Here's the bullet. Locally owned and operated Mediterranean cafe with less than 50 tops. So far so good. We hit the front door, half the restaurant was empty, and we were told there was a 10 minute wait. I thought she was kidding, but she didn't laugh with me. Eventually we were seated and then I realized the hostess was also the server. THE server. One. And busser. There was another guy who showed up randomly to serve the salads, but could have helped her out by refilling waters, etc., but he was a disappearing act. He hung out behind the bar sometimes, but was a non-factor. We opted for iced tea, which isn't unusual, and quickly sent them back. Instant, flavored or something else unnatural. How hard is brewed tea? MCL does it. Point. We had some bread, which was good, but not memorable. Then my salad showed up, which was simple with GREAT dressing. But within 3 minutes (less than halfway through my salad) our entrees show up. Hmmm. I had the Saturday night special, Chicken Parmesan and my wife had fettuccine w/ meatballs tossed in marinara. My Parm was good. The cutlet was pounded flat, lightly breaded and smothered in sauce (which I love). The fettuccine was perfect (I got to sample) and the meatballs were tasty. We skipped dessert, but I'm convinced the tiramisu would have been great. Holding out hope...see? So, 3 stars. Probably could have been 2, but like I said, I really, really wanted to like this place. I was planning on breakfast there next week, but I think I'd better do dinner again, since I now have a baseline. I'll post an update when that happens. Which will be soon since my 50% coupon expires later this month. :)

This is a restaurant in a strip mall that does not belong in a strip mall. I have only been here for dinner and think that I'm missing out on some great breakfast food! The hostess/server is the only person working the restaurant, but when we went in Saturday at 6, she was very attentive (and kept our water glasses full). I second what a previous poster said - the goat cheese/fig appetizer is delicious! And the bread that they serve at the table is toasted, buttered, and addictive. The first time I ate here (about two years ago), I asked to switch the sauce on the pasta for a different one, and the chef was happy to do that for me. He even came out afterwards to ask how it tasted. All of the food tastes fresh and homemade. We ordered the spicy sausage pasta dish. The tomato cream sauce on it was very light and delicious! I had the ravioli with a white goat cheese sauce, and it was a little too rich for me. Maybe I was suffering from goat cheese overload from the appetizer. I still enjoyed my meal, and I took some of it home. This is a wonderful place for a relaxing meal!

So I know I have been four star crazy lately, but this place had really good food. It is right behind 96th St. Steakburgers. The art on the walls is for sale, which is cool. The menu has a lot of breakfast selections, and they have the little half and half containers on the tables like a diner would, but the food surpasses expectations. The goat cheese crusted with hazelnuts and candied figs is not good, it is excellent. It is served on a huge bed of Popeye's favorite leafy vegetable and drizzled with a vinaigrette. Super good. The Gorgonzola pasta is pretty good too, definitely plenty to handle as it is very thick and hearty. The beer selection wasn't great, but they do serve mimosas, which are tasty, especially with their well pulped O.J. Locally owned by a family that has two names starting with A and one with a Z, hence the name of the place. Worth a whirl for sure.

Went there for breakfast with a friend two days ago. We both had breakfast and it was pretty good. My friend had the pesto skillet and she ate the whole thing. I think she was quite pleased with her meal. I had the italiano omelet. It was decent, could've used some more taste. We both had a pancake, make sure you eat the pancake first, it got kind of tough letting it sit there while I ate my omelet. Their service was pretty slow, took 30 minues to get our food, looked like they need some more help in the front. Overall, 3.5 stars.

This is my favorite place to go for breakfast. The ingredients are fresh, and work well together. Staff is friendly. And the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, with art from local artists for sale on the walls. If you like something with a little kick, try the Border omelette. It's delicious and HUGE.

Amazing food and service!! Very clean, quiet and all the food is homemade. Had the eggs Benedict crab cakes with breakfast potatoes. Everything was perfectly delicious! Definitely planning to come back for dinner and back for breakfast. You will not be disappointed!!

Husband and I went for breakfast after a concert the night before. Before we hit the road to head back home, we found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Place is clean and really quaint. We were really impressed by the great service! Outside seating was small (only 3 tables) but we came on an off time so it was really quiet and relaxing. Food was really good... Nothing you wouldn't be able to get at a chain restaurant but everything was homemade and delicious. The coffee was amazing! Our server even offered to give us coffee for the road. If we lived in the area, this would be one of our regular breakfast spots.

Tami & I stopped in for a late breakfast though we were tempted by the lunch menu. We both opted for the Greek scrambled eggs. Loaded with mushrooms, spinach and feta served with toast - we both opted for rye. Together, an ideal portion size and remarkably flavorful. Good coffee, great service - pleasant and efficient, and sooo many more menu choices to try. There's no question about whether we'll return - just when.

Fantastic food. French toast tastes like how my father made it. Many of the menu items are unique and cannot be found other places. Easily our favorite place for breakfast now, but hope to try for lunch as well sometime. Cook is a wizard as we were here during a power outage and she kept cooming by cell phone light and didn't miss a beat. Service staff is friendly and knowledgable. Owner and manager both stopped by during our last visit to check on how we were doing. Cannot recommend enough!

I had the vegetable omelet with two sides, the potatoes and a biscuit. The omelet was good, filled with sautéed veggies but it was supposed to come with your choice of cheese. I ordered feta and there was no feta in it. When I told the waitress she asked if I wanted a side of feta and I said yes. It took her a long time to bring it. I was surprised when I was charged for the feta. Also, no butter was brought with the biscuit. Finally, the potatoes are cubed and must be deep fried. They are crispy but I prefer the more traditional preparation. I was a little disappointed with the meal.

It is with a sad heart that I update my review and take A2Z off my regular list of resturants I visit. I cannot help but compare it to the last owners. Positives:coffee is good, eggs are fluffy, new owners are friendly. I think thats about it. The quality of the food is not as good. It seems they wanted to keep things the same but change it just a little, maybe? Like the potatoes. They are still the same cut but I believe they are now fried in a fryer and are not seasoned like the others, not really seasoned at all. The gyro meat was suspiciously cut quite uniformly, like they bought frozen slabs, I highly doubt it was from a spit. Oh, the tziki sauce was good, forgot about that. Husband had the B and Gs. The gravy was definately not like it used to be but looked like they wanted it to be. Again, I was in LOVE with the old A2Z so the bar was set high. I think it would have done them well to just to do a complete overhaul, name, menu, the whole shabang. I believe this may have removed the comparison issue. If you have never eaten there, it may work for you. Unfortunately, it only makes my tastebuds mourn for the original A2Z.

I was not really excited to try this place due to it being in a strip mall. I am glad I did. Food is good, owners are really nice. I tried their filet mignon omlete and french toast, enjoyed both of them. Waitress was attentive and knew the menu really well. She recommended these items for us and it was good. Will be back!

We waited at the door for several long minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. We were eventually sat, and waited several more minutes for our waitress. The restaurant was fairly busy. She came and was nice enough, but it struck me as odd that as I looked around, no one seemed to be getting any service: no refills, no polite checks, nothing. Even the empty tables weren't getting bussed. Overall, an odd atmosphere. However, the worst part would have to be the food. I ordered 2 eggs, bacon and pancakes. Seems simple enough--this is a breakfast place--after all. These were hands-down the ABSOLUTE WORST pancakes I have ever had. They tasted EXACTLY like the kind you buy frozen and microwave...chewy, somehow grainy, yet tasteless. My eggs and bacon were unremarkable, but warm and fine. Not by any means worth $9. My husband's omelet was nothing to write home about either... Featuring some chopped up bacon and sausage (that wasn't ordered), that all tasted a bit like plastic. We won't be back.

The crab quiche and creme brûlée were amazing! The chili was also nicely balanced - perhaps too hot spice wise for some. I was really impressed. Cute small dinner feel. Do not let the fact that it's in a strip mall confuse you on the quality within this hidden gem hole in the wall. The owner was also very kind - she genuinely wanted to know our feedback about our experience. She also turned on a space heater when my grandmother said that she was cold. You could tell that she cared deeply about the ambience and food that her guests were experiencing. Great food. Great staff. I'll be returning for sure.

Excellent food and great value. Gina, the owner, greeted us at the door and was warm and personable. The service was great. The menu had a great options - even for me as a vegetarian. My son's first fries biscuits - and they were so good I had to steal one. My parents come regularly and I'm so glad they introduced us to this wonderful place.

I've been to A to Z twice now, and they recently got a new owner. The thing I didn't like before was that the tables were too close to the door and got really cold. The new owner says she is going to fix that. Last time, we got a warm booth and great service. My friend got the cinnamon toast, and I got an omelet. Both were very good and reasonably prices. It was a great place to eat brunch and catch up with my friend. I've never been there for dinner- they now have dinner certain nights. I would try their dinner for sure.

A to Z might seem like a hole in the wall, but it is absolutely a hidden gem! I've been for both brunch and dinner and would return in a heartbeat. The line is never long, and the decor is amazing -- artwork done by the restaurant's owner, Gina. Every time I go, she and her husband are in evidence, chatting with their customers and making sure everyone is having a good time. My favorite item on the menu is the cinnamon sugar English muffin. It is absolutely amazing, an. I've never tasted anything else like it! If you visit A to Z for brunch, I highly recommend it.

As a vegetarian visiting my home state I get tired of black bean burgers. Thank goodness I found the Portabella mushroom burger. I splurged on my calories and sincerely wish they could have given me a calorie guide, but darn if the meal didn't hit the spot. Even the meat dishes around me looked good. :) Fantastic service made the meal. Attentive to refills and quick with anything else I needed I watched my server get the regulars their regular before they sat for a minute. She patiently helped a regular and his wife (the wife seemed in the beginning stages of dementia) sort out the menu. I recommended this place to my local friends and family. I also made certain the manager knew just how great a server he has.

Hmmmmm. This place is odd. Ordered Eclectic Club with side of fresh fruit and a diet coke. Food was delivered pretty quickly but they never checked back to see how it was, refill my drink, etc. I got restless waiting for a check. When the check came, prices did not match the menu at all. Menu listed the sandwich at $9, fruit as $2.50 extra. The check listed the sandwich at $10.50 and listed neither the fruit nor the drink at all. It was just weird. The food was kinda bland. Doubt I will come back.

Smashing the snooze button until noon on the weekend is my kind of thing. Never was an early riser, so breakfast during brunch time is more like it. Can I say, holy omelet to that giant egg pile stuffed with whatever you like! Side of homefries and maple cinnamon English muffin. The omelet was scrumptous filled with turkey and tomatoes topped with avocado slices. Loading up on the carbs will put me back to bed in a jiffy. Breakfast for under $9, I concur since I was overly-stuffed just like the omelet on my plate. I'll wake up with the rest of the elderly folks and join in their company in eating a traditional breakfast on a weekend again there. Despite of the inconspicuous name, A2Z is a fabulous family-owned place that serves a wonderful breakfast and lighter lunch options.

Ordered a spicy pig omelette "bacon, potato, pepper jack, sour cream, and horseradish extra horseradish, more horseradish, inside horseradish, everywhere horseradish, and not even the good fresh kind or even the spicy kind, just a cup full of watered down horseradish piled on top and stuffed inside with three measly potatoes and some seriously overcooked bacon slivers. Service was good and although I was asked how it was it's too early to make complaints so I paid and left. The End. P.S. This just tells me the cook is extremely untrained and doesn't understand that horseradish is not a main ingredient. I wonder if they have a horseradish sandwich......?

10/10. They have a Hawaiian influenced breakfast selection right now-Portuguese sausage is on the menu, AND spam. I got the Loco Moco, a typical Hawaiian breakfast, and they did it perfectly. It was really hot, and they served it with plenty of gravy. Also tried the biscuits and gravy & cinnamon swirl French toast. Everything was great. Biscuits could have been warmer, French toast was a little wet, but

Today my wife and I felt like having breakfast for lunch. Our favorite breakfast spot was hosting a Saturday morning car show and we didn't want to deal with that wait, so we gave this place try. It was sprinkling when got there, but overall nice out. We asked if we could sit outside and were told yes. The tables didn't have silverware or any condiments (sugar, salt, pepper, ketchup, etc). We spent the rest of breakfast asking for these items one by one, because the waitress never actually set up the table. The waitress told us the omelette was their specialty and they were huge. I went with the spicy pig omelette and my wife had the morning special of pancakes, bacon, and eggs (over medium). Then portions we got were average at best, definitely something you would finish if you are hungry (which we were). As I mentioned before, our waitress wasn't very attentive. As for the food, the omelette was good, the breakfast potatoes were dry and bland. The bacon was crisp and the eggs were a perfect medium, but the pancakes were very dry. The most important aspect of a breakfast restaurant, the coffee, was weak and my cup had grounds in it. On top of that, they only have sweet and low sweetener and my wife only uses Selena. I know that part might not be a big deal for most, but she seriously hates all sweetener other than Splenda. If I'm going to pay $2.50 per cup of coffee I expect it to be good. Overall, a pricey place for the service and quality ($30 for 2 with coffee and tip). There a lot better options in the area.
