Food is good and extremely affordable but, getting someone to take your order is next to impossible. Table service is slow at best and unless you're a "regular" you are ignored at the bar. It took over 15 minutes for one of the 2 bartenders to take my drink order at the half full bar. I ordered a beer and asked for a menu and then waited an additional 15 minutes for him to come back to take my order. I was there for a total of 2 1/2 hours and not once did either bartender ask if I needed another drink. I had to walk down to the other end of the bar in order to get another beer. When I asked for my bill, it was slammed down on the bar and there was no "Thank you", "Screw you" or anything. I will not be going back. Good prices do not make up for horrible service.

great local neighborhood bar. perfectly decorated for Christmas with lights/wrapping paper hung throughout and garland lights & candy canes above the bar. decorations give the bar a very chicago local feel. much larger than it looks from the outside, main room to the west and pool room on the east. two doors and a turn to get in. the main dining/bar area is large, carpeted, with all lower eating tables and a 15-20 stool bar. multiple large hdtvs around the room (great place to watch the game, though you may not get sound) and a small stage on the south end near the restrooms. wood paneling and adequate lighting (exception is right now for Christmas, where the room is more bright). bar itself is black laminate with a wooden rail. good foot rail and padded stools. the bar back is simple and includes mirrors as all bars should. definitely nicer inside than you would expect, but very comparable to taylor's, taylor's 2, etc. patrons vary widely in age, drunkenness, and net worth, but everyone is level-headed and friendly. numerous regulars. waitresses and bartender are all very friendly and know how to take care of a customer. jukebox, so music will change to match the taste of the last person, but skews towards rock. many regular activities that may interrupt your normal evening (karaoke, trivia, poker, etc.). food is your typical pub fare, but slightly above average in taste. stick with the burgers and sandwiches.

Place was not very busy. Good local hang out place. Decent beer selection.

Great local bar with a rotating lineup of local microbrews on tap. Pretty good pub food too.

I refuse to tell you what I like about this place because I am selfish and don't want you to overcrowd the joint and spoil my fun.

I'm a big fan of dive bars and I thought this would be cool with the prior reviews. But I wouldn't recommend it to friends or even people I don't know! The food is very bland (even for bar food) and the service just adequate. Servers really focus on the locals - so they made me feel like a stranger and not welcome to their bar when I was in town for a business trip. The client base is primarily "trolling" old men. I brought a female date here once, and they were busy hitting-on her the entire time and trying to get her drunk and then offered to take her home! I was shocked! Really a weird place and I couldn't recommend this place to single ladies at all!! The only positive is the beer seems reasonable priced and the place is clean. But I can find that anywhere. Will go to Rock Bottom or other places in the future - especially with my dates!

It had been a few years since I've visited here. My understanding is that they are under somewhat new ownership since the last time I visited. The first thing I noticed was that, for a pub, it was very well lit and clean. It was warm and inviting, and I appreciated that quite a lot. I saw they had a hand breaded tenderloin on the menu, and that's what I ordered. Let me tell you, it was absolutely sublime. A nice, thick piece of meat, and obviously hand breaded. The breading was nice and crisp and didn't get soggy at all. One of the best tenderloins in Indy, hands down. For my side, I chose onion rings for an upcharge, and they were also fantastic. I suspect this will be my go to meal on return visits! My wife had the black and blue salad, and said, while not perhaps the very best she's ever had, it still was quite good. The service was just a tad on the slow side, I thought...but not terrible. All in all, a VERY positive experience. We'll be back soon.

86th Street Pub has really upped their game since the first time I visited several years ago. I've tried several things on the menu now and they have all been really good. My favorite thing about 86th Street Pub is their craft beer selection. They change the options weekly! If you like trying craft beer, especially local and regional ones, they do a stellar job at keeping a variety of choices available. I've also heard great things about their events and live music.

I came here for the pork tenderloin and it did not disappoint! I read that this place had one of the best pork tenderloin sandwiches... as it was the only PT sandwich I've ever had I can't say if it was the best but it was so good! One weird thing was that my fiance and I both had to present 2 forms of photo ID even though we didn't order any alcohol. The food was good, the atmosphere was a typical dark bar and the waitress was friendly. Overall: Yum! I would go back.

Sad but true. I've had to strip the 86th Street Pub of a star and a half. There have been too many adverse changes since my review last year. Management and some staff seem deteremined to shoot themselves in the foot with less than customer-friendly business practices. Ah, well. There's always Outback down the road....

My buddies and I owned this place for a short while on their Saturday trivia night. Our "If It Ain't Muslim, It Ain't Shiite" trivia team whooped some major ass and scored a generous bar tab. But even if we hadn't we still would have had a great time with the spaciousness, pool tables in the back room, friendly low-key crowd of all ages, and sipping $4 Canadian Club and Cokes. It's your average 3 star pub with some formidable trivia buffs, slackers, sketchy foos, freaks and neighborhood friendly peeps. Seems like a cool place to start out the night if you're in the area. Extra star for the friendly server who gladly and without fail or attitude cleaned up our spilled jagermeister shots we accidentally dumped all over the table.

Some of the best bar food in the city. The tap is also refreshing which changes every week. In my opinion they get better and better every time they change the tap. This venue is also great for 1st dates one side bar the other side is pool tables and arcade games. Overall a great place to eat drink and mingle .

Terrific pub much improved over the past couple of years with the new owner and much more pleasant and profession staff. Very good craft beer selection as well as some top shelf bourbons and other spirits. WAY above your average pub quality food. Steak specials are phenomenal and karaoke nights are not to be missed ! Great regulars and visitors of all kinds...where everyone is truly made to feel welcome !

I love the staff and the karaoke at this place. It's laid back and very easy to enjoy the atmosphere here. A good place to kick back and have a strong drink.

This place is pretty much your standard friendly neighborhood pub. Decent prices, good booze selection, good food (although I tend to show up after they close the kitchen, unfortunately), and the same friendly-ish waitresses every time. The clientele is a bit older, but most of them seem like nice enough folks. The place is actually much larger than you would think - there's a good-sized main dining area, as well as a separate room with pool tables and a couple of Golden Tee machines. Good luck getting a table on a busy night though - some people are jerks about it and hog the tables. It's a bit more welcoming now that the Indianapolis smoking ban is in effect - although the smoking area to the side is really, really sketchy looking. While you're there, try their new house bourbon, as it's actually pretty decent.

Great food, great drink prices, great people. It's a cool neighborhood bar. Friday nights are the best. Saturday night is cool, too with trivia. If you don't have a good time here, its your fault!

I love coming here when I'm looking to unwind and enjoy some good conversation. The bartenders are all great. The Southwest wrap was very good with a cold IPA...thanks J for the tip!
