Came late on a Sunday night..about 8 p.m. There were other customers but we got treated as though we were the only ones in the room. Extremely nice service and can't complain overall. The nachos for the starter are the only thing I wouldn't repeat..not that they weren't okay but nothing compared to burgers, fries, tater tots...and more. I ordered the classic while my husband got the BLT. I got fries, he got tater tots. Both were wonderful and would order again. Owner came out and checked on us towards the end of the night. we'll be back.

I have ate here a couple of times. The first time was during the freedom festival in 2013. They had not been open very long and I was just not impressed. I thought maybe since they were new that they had some kinks to work out. I stopped in about a month ago and still just cant find anything that I would come out of my way for. The burgers are OK but I have found better at other places. I am a huge fan of fried pickles but these were not that impressive. I love small local owned businesses and I prefer to find the mom and pop places. I do not think that I will be back to Between the bun. The food was just not enough for me to come back and try it again.

Ordered buffalo chicken salad with blue cheese and ranch for 7.99. Was charged an extra .50 for the dressing. The salad was small and had hardly any toppings. The buffalo chicken tasted like it was fried in old grease and very small portion. My date ordered a burger Medium and it was undercooked. Prices are high. Portions are small. Service is mediocre. They have a ways to go to compete with 5 guys, Teddy's or beefcake burgers. I don't see them being around very long. We won't be back.

The service was terrific and the buffalo chicken cheese fries were the best! We had to travel a ways but it was well worth it! This was a treat for my hubby on Father's Day!

Great handmade, unique and fresh burgers. Everytime I visit from Chicago I must stop by to get a hellfire burger and tots! Local brews tops it all off!

Been here a few times for lunch. Always prompt and friendly service, and food had always been well prepared. The Spitfire Chili Burger is my favorite and I just tried the Spitfire Ranch Mac and Cheese was excellent-- it's a meal, not a side, spicy but not too hot!

Finally, I have found a good burger in Greenwood. Lots of information proved by waitress. Good price on food, you feel like you get what you are paying for.

Wow. Second time here and it was just as awesome as the first time. The food is amazing and enough to fill you up. I had the tsunami burger and it's probably the best burger I have ever had. The fries were good also. I personally like the theme they have going on it's a throwback to my childhood. I will continue to go back.

As A Man who has a deep love for a great burger, I'm ecstatic to have found a place that brings that love consistently to fruition. Every single time I order a burger there, it is always prepared perfectly. The patties are made from scratch and my burger is always upon request seared heavy (almost burnt) on both sides & med rare. I stop by at least once, sometimes twice a week. Service is always great, & even the cooks who come out the kitchen from time to time in passing are always friendly. The Proprietors Scott & Trish are always accommodating and they go out of their way not only for me but for others that I've seen dining there as well. I go there at least once, sometimes twice a week and they already know what beer I drink and all. (BIG PLUS) While you are going to spend at least $8-9 for a burger, you have to keep in mind the Quality Burger you are getting, along with the fresh ingredients. Why pay $6 for a value meal at McD's ::ugh:: when you can get an amazing burger for a couple bucks more? Trust me, your digestive system and tastebuds will love you for it. Quick Tip: If ordering a burger ToGo as opposed to dining, you may want to order it a temperature before what you really want as the burger continues to cook in it's juices while en route home. Hmmm. I'm getting hungry as I write this. The Tsunami Burger there is EPIC! Al Spaulding @alspaulding

A nice enough neighborhood joint, very casual atmosphere extends to service. Creative burgers, but they tend toward overcooked ("medium well" - the default temperature - was dry and well-done). Onion rings were above average. Leave yourself spare time, and order the burger "medium."

We are sooooo picky and this exceeded our expectations! We had a great chili burger from their food truck before so wanted to try the new Hellfire burger with jalapeños, bacon, pepper jack and the ghost powder. This husband loves spicy. It was cooked perfectly to medium temperature. There were just enough toppings but not too much. The tater tots - oh the tater tots with their special house made seasoning are the best anywhere. And we eat out ALOT. We don't ever go to Greenwood, but we will be back for a burger. Shop Local!

One of the BBQ sauces on this menu is named "Sweet Poontang." If you prefer not to eat at a restaurant that uses derogatory terms for women's genitalia on its menu, avoid this place. Also, I'd definitely advise not bringing your children here under any circumstances, unless you want to have to explain to their teachers where they learned that term.

  • Mark V.

Service was great. The food was so so. I had the notorious pig which should have been called the small and boring. The bbq sandwich did not taste like it came from a smoker. The spitfire sauce had no flavor or heat. The mac and cheese looked like it was from a 50 cent box. The cost for lunch with a water was over nine dollars including tax. If you like boring bbq this might be the place for you but not for me. Too many better cheaper options in the area.

Um, well, I do applaud the local places, and the people here are extremely friendly and eager that you have a good experience. Still . . . The fried pickles were probably the best part of the meal -- addictive with a nice dipping sauce. The PB&J burger has just way too much going on, and the burger ordered medium was quite well-done. The pulled pork was OK -- nothing spectacular, although the sweet sauce ordered with it was nicely spicy. The macaroni and cheese most definitely comes from a box and is not spiced up by the drizzling of barbeque sauce. The French fries are pretty unexceptional. None of the desserts is made in-house. I wish them well, but doubt I would make a special trip to the southside for another visit.

The service was friendly, but the food was the star of the show. Fantastic hot dogs, burgers, fried pickles, jack cheese balls, mac and cheese, and loaded tots. The menu has so many creative options to choose from, and everything lived up to its description. The burgers were cooked to almost well when ordered medium, but the flavor combinations were still fantastic. We definitely will return.

So glad to have a burger place in old greenwood! My husband and I went for lunch on opening day (today) and have plans to give it a second chance in the coming weeks. Pros- diverse menu, there was even a vegetarian burger option. Fries were great and well seasoned. Our waitress was attentive without being irritating. Cons- We sat at the first two top immediately to the right of the door and there are some seriously weird acoustics in that spot. It was hard for us to hear each other, and there is some sort of weird echo if you leaned too far forward in your seat. I could see my husbands lips moving, but couldn't make out anything he was saying, and he was having the same problem. It was a pretty frustrating situation that I hope they are able to fix. (Or we'll just know not to sit at that table!) The decor was kind of odd. There didn't seem to be any real theme to anything. However, I'd rather see money go to good food than a good interior decorator! Overall, I recommend this place, especially if you live in old Greenwood. I think the only thing that could make this place absolutely spectacular is a small craft beer menu! I can't wait to check it out again at a later date to see how they develop!

I was there on opening day and the service was great and the food was awesome. I just might have had the best hotdog in my life. How can you not like a hotdog wrapped in bacon, covered with pulled pork and jack cheese then doused with spicy bbq sauce? As for the service, I was there at lunch and traffic was pretty light. If it got crazy in the evening, PLEASE BE PATIENT as these guys figure it out. I met one of the owners and they really seem dedicated to make this work!I look forward to trying their burgers next, but that hotdog will be difficult to pass up!

$18 including tip for a burger, fries & a drink? Burger was good, but the fries were Ore-Ida-ish at best. Not a good value for this type of lunch, probably won't be back. I've noticed the parking lot is almost empty at lunch time, that should tell you something...

Went there on Black Friday with my family out of town. We all enjoyed our burgers. I had the PBJ Burger and it was quite tasty. Plan to go back soon!

Good burgers, nice selection of local bottled beer. The staff has been great on each of my visits. This place is definitely a no frills, "mom and pop" type of establishment.

    (3)
  • Kristen P.

We had a good dinner but when waiting for our bills the owner came out and was very rude to his staff. Everyone in the restaurant heard him and they were caught off guard by his rudeness. And for that we will never go back to his restaurant.

  • Megan S.

Yay for local food! The food we had was delicious. We had the spitfire cheese fries and they were great. Admittedly the chili was on the sweet side. Closer to a sloppy joe taste. I ate the tsunami burger. I was pleasantly surprised. I normally don't do the unique burger thing but I will from now on. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. My husband had the cheeseburger ran through the garden. He was also pleased. If I had one complaint it would be the slow service. While our server was cashing out a large party, many others just stood around and let us sit there. However, other than that, our server was really friendly and took care of us. I would definitely be back. Especially once they have their liquor license. One of their burgers with a nice tall beer will be heaven.

  • Rachel S.

My husband and I both had the Salty Dog. it was really, really good! But our fries and tater tots were WAY overseasoned (so salty!), and the tots and our kids' corn dogs were far too dark to be considered cooked properly. But the dogs, the main draw? Delish! They just need to up their game with the rest of the meal!

    (3)
  • Thomas S.

Good burgers. Not great, but good. This place does an interesting take on fusing different flavors, but does something nice with their powdered rub (the seasoning is more of a seasoned salt, and tastes just like the BBQ found on Lay's potato chips.) It's nice on the fries and the onion rings. Do note that this restaurant is NOT wheelchair-friendly; anyone with mobility problems will have difficulty getting into the building.

I have to give these people credit for working really hard and trying to do something at this location, here, in Greenwood. Businesses come and go all the time, and it seems the only truly successful businesses are beauty shops, tattoo parlors and churches (40 churches within a 10 mile radius, btw). I went to Between the Bun out of curiousity and to try something different. My first impression was great. The owners were really cool to allow us to sit down and eat at 10 minutes 'til closing. They were very warm and welcoming sans the type of attitude you might get elsewhere 10 minutes to close. We looked over the menu (which is printed in too small of font, in my opinion) and we decided on a burger and a hot dog along with onion rings and fries. While it was all good and yummy, there wasn't much too it. The chili-dog I had was much better than Skyline chili, but I could see how it could be too hot/spicy for some. While they owners have really gone all out with marketing and printed materials, I was not that impressed with the interior. It made me think of Happy Days and I've never been a big fan of that 50's genre stuff. (Hopefully that will appeal to the people at The Suds on Saturday nights though!) Most businesses that take over this location rarely flourish. I believe it's the building. Originally built as a house, it just does NOT scream restaurant or business, for that matter and parking is a little odd around the building. I love my home town and I really want these people to succeed. I will probably go back (because I can walk there from my house and the food is decent). I am even more likely to go back if/when they get a liquor license and DEFINITELY if they put some local brews on tap! (YES...PLEASE compete for the attentions (and money) of us NON-SMOKERS with The Blind Pig!!!! That would be awesome!)

  • Eric M.

Always great hot dogs. My goto is the Boss Dogg, deep fried w/ bacon, cheese, homemade bbq sauce and topped with Pulled Pork! Tots are also very good. The burgers are good but I prefer the dogs.

    (4)
  • Diana J.

The burgers are tasty enough but our buns fell apart as we tried to eat, so either the buns were old/stale or they don't use a sturdy enough bun for their burgers. They were undercooked- we ordered med-well and our were still bleeding! The onion rings were frozen (I prefer fresh, hand battered ones). The Mac n cheese is not good! It's bland, the sauce thin and the crushed goldfish did not positively add to the flavor (altho they are "cheesier" than the Mac n cheese itself was!!!). One pos is they do have a unusual selection of diff types of burgers.

Where do I begin? The old house converted to a restaurant is really nice, great idea. That's the only compliment I can give this place. Now for the grit & grisel. Three of us sat down in the crowd. We waited on rather slowly to start with. We ordered the fried pickles which were fair at best and far few to many in the basket. I ordered the chicken salad and my family ordered a burger and a dog. We waited over an hour and 15 min. All the while the waitress kept apologizing. You could tell the waitress was a bit nervous because of the extreme wait. When the food showed up it looked ok...but....it was far from tasting good. The burger was ordered medium and came well well done. The dog was fair but not worthy at all. The salad was so small you would have thought it was a side salad. There was a few small pieces of over cooked chicken swimming in dressing. Literally I stopped eating it 3 bites in. I actually had to step outside due to instant stomach pain. I couldn't go back in. They actually had the nerve to charge me for the ice tea after all said an done. REALLY!!! Don't bother trying this place!!!! It won't be around much longer anyway. They seriously have idea how to run a restaurant.

at first, I was put off by the combinations. However, when we got there it was pretty awesome. I would never have thought macaroni and cheese on a burger would be so good! I usually eat very healthy. So this is the perfect place to feel NAUGHTY! Plus my husband loves his burgers still breathing. They were more than accommodating ( only after talking with the chef.) If you want something different and naughty. .. this is it.

This establishment has great gourmet burgers. A lot of creative combinations for burgers. Fries, onion rings, and Mac n cheese sides are great. They have a good selection of local beers. My only recommendation would be to increase the size of the appetizers. They are a little small for the cost. Overall great service, the owners are hands on and willing answer questions. They also are developing their menu all of the time. Great restaurant we've been 4 times in less than a moth I highly recommend.

Best burger in Greenwood. They take their heat seriously. The Hellfire is amazing. The chili is ridiculous. Great kids menu too. Every restaurant should have Goldfish as an option. Don't let the house storefront fool you. BTB is a hidden treasure.

  • Jon M.

I had heard from friends and fellow Yelpers about this place and wanted to check it out. I LOVE Hot /Spicy stuff, so I went there with one burger in mind, The Hellfire Burger. My lips are still tingling.... It was great! Good size patty, very tasty. Asked for Medium and it was pretty right on. Maybe just a touch toward the Medium Well side, but I don't get too hung up on that. It had the perfect amount of heat and toppings. And who doesn't like deep fried bacon? It even comes on a pretzel bun which is perfect for holding everything together. Awesome. For a side I got the Onion Rings. Don't be surprised when you only get like 6-7 rings. They are huge and really good. Wouldn't have been able to finish any more than that. Price is in line with a Red Robin or Cheeseburger Cheeseburger. I will definitely be back to try some of the other choices!!!

  • Holly D.

Fantastic burgers, and their house made tots are over the top. Be sure to get a cup of the house cheese to dip them in. Our service tonight was just as good as the food. Prompt, friendly, and eager to please. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is the bathroom needs a good cleaning.

This place is not handicap accessible at all I saw a family that had a a wheelchair family members not be able to even get to the door I thought all places had to be handicap accessible my family and I will not be going here

  • Aaron C.

GO TRY THIS PLACE!!! At first some of the burger combination sounds offputting. Peanut butter bacon jalapeños and syrup? But then I tried them and they were delicious. The salad came with tons of cheese and bacon. It's my wife's favorite place just to get a salad. I got chili as a side dish with cheese and onions it's awesome. Burgers are actually cooked to order unlike most places that just cook every burger the same. I can actually order my medium which is how I like them. You can get craft beers and other drinks which is awesome. It goes along with the burger perfectly.

    (5)
  • Damon H.

Extremely overpriced! Service was mediocre at best, horrible in my opinion! The wife had hair in her food, clientele was sketchy.to say the least... would NOT recommend! Only good thing I can say is the selection is nice, but the quality is lacking. Do your self a favor and go to Five Guys or Teddy's for your burger.

Amazing hole in the wall burger joint. This restaurant is a little pricy but is every penny worth it! Plan on returning very soon. If you like good food come here!!

At first I kind of liked this place, but after a few times I've soured on it. The burgers are okay, but they will not necessarily listen if you ask for a particular temperature. I've had some service there that I really didn't care for. Went from leaving us alone for a long stretch of time when we were hungry/thirsty and waiting to order, to interrupting our conversation multiple times when we had been served and had everything we needed. Sidenote: I've noticed that, in multiple places, the only thing that seems to matter anymore with respect to service is that 30 seconds into your meal they have to ask "Does everything taste good?" The tables are sticky and there's often a pretty gross smell lingering. I just never feel great when I leave that place. Do yourself a favor and hit up Beefcake Burger next time you've got a cheeseburger craving.

    (2)
  • Jenniffer W.

Terrible experience. The acoustics in the room are Horrible . We couldn't even hold a conversation it took and hour for us to get our food. Which consisted of a salad and a hotdog. And the food was well. Let's just say I have had a better hotdog and salad at Dairy Queen :(.

  • Taylor I.

The food quality is great! I love my mac n cheese & fries! The burgers are just on point! I will always eat eat. Great staff too!

  • Andrew D.

I really was excited to try this place and it did not disappoint. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was for the fact that it did take a long time to get the food and the Mac and cheese was just okay. But the burgers and tater tots were pure amazing. The burger was like eating a burgeroff the grill and who doesn't love that . The tots were amazing amazing. I really love the atmosphere to the old school at home feel. I definally recommend this place a lot if for only the burgers which are amazing and the tots

    (4)
  • Joel F.

I've only been here once and it wasn't bad... but it wasn't amazingly awesome either. We decided to try this place as it was something new and something local. The night we were there, besides a group of middle aged guys sitting around a table we were the only ones there. Our server was nice, and took good care of us. I had the pulled pork and felt that the portions were a little on the small side. The food itself wasn't all that impressive. Maybe its because I'm a mild kinda sauce guy and the better stuff people say is always the spicy but can't forget about us boring folks. I would say that the prices are reasonable and would be amazing of there was just more food! Its been awhile since I've been there, and id go back again.

  • Douglas D.

Awesome service and reasonable prices. They changed the menu and have some really interesting burgers. LOVE the spiced tots! You have to try them!

We went here with the kids for a family dinner tonight. We were told there would be a wait. There were more than six empty tables in the restaurant and yet somehow we had to stand there with four kids while the staff seemed unconcerned. How hard is it to push some tables together in a mostly empty restaurant? We weren't even offered drinks or menus to look at. We walked out and went to roscoes instead. So disappointed by the service- ill be going to Beefcake burgers or the Stacked Pickle next time. UPDATE: As you can see by the owner's response this place seriously lacks customer service. I was actually sent a compliment on Yelp from the reviewer below (Jennifer W.) that said: "I was there too. You guys waited forever I won't go back. We were thinking about leaving even before we got our food it was so bad :(" So I would say if a total stranger can see that there was a failure and feels the need to reach out to me about it, that backs up the validity of my complaint. Also, you can see the owner commentary on her review as well. Rather than apologizing an offering to rectify the poor experience there is snark and defensiveness. So unprofessional and I have many friends who have had similar experiences. Since the owner believes my experience is dishonest and invalid, I will now be inviting all of them to voice their terrible experiences on Yelp so this businesses rating can be true to what it deserves and no other diners are subjected to ruined evenings on account of this disrespectful and unconcerned business owner.

We were in the area over the weekend and "Yelped" restaurants nearby. We discovered this one, which we'd never heard of before, and decided to visit. I loved the 70's throwback decor/memorabilia, but not as much as I loved the menu. So many burgers to choose from!! We finally made our decisions (Tsunami for me) and waited a surprisingly short time for our orders. Great service! Our burgers were awesome and we loved the Tater Tots (talk about a throwback!). Well done Between the Bun!

Well, my family and I decided to give this place a try for dinner tonight, first off the parking is very limited, but on with the food! So I ordered the Route 66 burger which sounded good and even looked good but after the first bite I can honestly say I'm not that impressed. My burger was dry and the bacon was way too hard, the bbq sauce I chose from the three they have I could not taste it that much, just wasn't much on there. This place is way too over priced as well, for just a family of four it cost us $40 just for a burger joint!!! Again, just not that impressed.

    (3)
  • Matthew S.

Wow, the menu is really overwhelming for a first timer. Took us a while to pick out what we wanted, everything sounded pretty good. I got the Tsunami Chicken, my son got the mini corn dogs, and my wife for the not-so-big daddy. All the food was top notch quality and tasted great. We will definitely be back.

Excellent burgers! Yummy taste and depending on ur selection you could get a healthy option too. will come back

  • Dav W.

Awesome service, excellent food, will be back again. I'm glad Greenwood has some seriously good food, otherwise I would regret moving away from the northside. This place is great with children, and have a decent selection your little ones will enjoy, (unless they're expecting caviar or curry). BTW, this site is fucking stupid for * filtering * the half-dozen other honest reviews, but instead wants to show you the reviewers, (who happen to only have one or two reviews to their credit), that concoct stories about "the way it is" or "$18 lunch"? Where is the logic in that?
