My daughter wanted a red velvet cake for her birthday so we the grocery store route only to strike out. Remembered seeing this store attached to Walker Eggs on Main Street so stopped by to inquire. Debbie (I think that was who we talked to) was very accommodating, even for our daughter's odd request of red velvet cake with strawberry whipped icing instead of the traditional icing. We ordered the cake to pick up 4 days later. We just said "decorate it for a tween girl, she likes pink" and left it at that. The cake was beautiful and my daughter loved it. Even with the strawberry icing I have to admit it was tasty. They even gave us four pretty cake pops free! (I'm assuming with leftover cake and icing from our order) The birthday girl enjoyed giving her guests a going away treat after the party. Yes it cost more than picking up a pre-made cake at the grocery store but it is definitely worth it! I'm glad we ended up supporting a local business.

For my birthday, I wanted to try some new pasties. I Yelp'd and found "A Piece of Cake", not too far from my dinner location. I will not lie and say that is was a little far to find (due to my GPS). When I got there, I found a small bakery with a happy and welcoming owner. She talked to me about the store had been busy for Thanksgiving and they were in the middle of restocking their items. Today, they had vanilla and chocolate cupcakes. I was down to try 2 vanilla. The owner boxed them and said "$3.00" For both? Wow! I am so use to paying $2 per item downtown. I was so happy. I did not get to the cupcake till the next day, but they were so good. Moist, flavorful and the frosting was just right. They were also still fresh, meaning they use quality products. I'm a fan!

Amazing moist cake. Prices are very reasonable, too! The white and chocolate cakes are so damn good, but the winner for me is the cherry chip. Holy moly is it good. The more buttery buttercream icing is to die for as well. I think I got a cavity just opening the box. I will use this place for all of my showers and birthdays from here on out. Once you try it you will understand why. And the cakes for the showers have been so cute! Highly recommend!

So to be honest, this place was a nightmare to work with. With all due respect to this bakery, their service came in the package with where my wedding was (the Columns in Greenwood). So they were stuck with me as much as I was stuck with them for my budget wedding.. 1. Consultation: We walk in, and it's a small, quaint bakery. I thought, "this place HAS to be good!" They sit us down with a few photo albums, that all look like they're from 1980 (my wedding was last year in 2013..) and that frightened me. "Maybe it's just the books," I thought.. nope, when you open all of the albums, all the pictures look like they're from the 80's and 90's. Nothing flashy (which was fine at first, since we wanted something simple), but a lot of cake borderlined tacky. So we went with a simple design, nailed it. When it came to the taste test, our options were white or chocolate. Even the samples tasted old, which totally concerned me, but chocolate for our 1-year tier and chocolate and white for the actual cake. We were told if we wanted flowers on the cake, we are to provide them and make sure they are to the bakery by Wednesday before the wedding, which of course sounded odd, but they're the pros, not me. 2. Wedding Crunch Time: I go into the bakery with a dozen off-white roses to be placed on the cake, and they told me they don't accept/keep fresh flowers. Excuse me, WHAT?! They told me that I was misinformed and that they couldn't help me. Wow. But they said if I brought the flowers with me to the venue day of (meaning I had to keep them fresh-looking myself for 4 days), then they'll help me place them on the cake. 3. Wedding Day: The wedding party arrived at 8:45-9am-ish... they arrived at 8:50 to drop off the cake and ran. Literally did not hear one peep from them. Taste: The chocolate cake was SOOO unbelievably dry. And I felt that I was just eating sugar. I don't know, I just expected more. But I did try the white cake, which was a lot better than the chocolate. By the way, while not trying to be a bridezilla, I realize I chose the chocolate cake for my 1-year tier... 4. 1-Year Anniversary Tier: It. Was. Dry. It was like I was back at my wedding with dry chocolate cake, trying to choke it down. While it was a cute moment, damn was this such a major disappointment all around. Sorry Piece of Cake. I heard good things about you, but I didn't get any of that.

So happy with our cake. Reasonable prices, and absolutely delicious. I didn't pick out an existing design; I just told them we wanted a jungle theme with monkeys for a first birthday, and it was perfect. Will definitely be repeat customers; so much tastier than anything you can get at the grocery store.

I emailed for a quote on a very specific cake including size, number of layers, and flavor. I received an email asking me to call so I did and while, they were open, I received a voicemail and left a message. They called me back pretty quickly and then told me that I didn't need a cake that size if I wasn't feeding 40 people and that the beads I asked for weren't right. I stated that no matter how many we were feeding that I needed that specific cake with the size, layers, and flavors given. She questioned going to a different size cake and using different size beads. This should have been simple since it was a single tier, triple-layered cake with fondant and a string of beads. I'll be going somewhere who will create this without questioning me or telling me that the dimensions are incorrect.
