We love this place! Have always had good service and great food. One of our favorites is the crab Rangoon Roll...absolutely awesome. My two other favorite rolls here are the rainbow roll and Manhattan roll. The prices are reasonable as well.

I got the Mistake roll and the Sun roll. The food was okay but this restaurant is NOT kid friendly. We asked to divide a couple of the dishes (Udon Noodles, Chicken Teriyaki) and we were told no. Our server was not very friendly or helpful in working with us. The quality of the food is not enough to overcome the lack of a kid friendly menu. We will not be coking back!

This place is awesome. Fresh and delicious combinations sure to satisfy your taste buds. Same owners and menu as Wasabi in Indianapolis. We love every roll we choose. Brad is our favorite server. He is very knowledgable and sure to take care of you. He always makes the best suggestions. There is a nice but casual atmosphere, great for lunch or a dinner date. I hope you enjoy as much I do!!

I go to Wild Ginger every once in a while for lunch. It has always been great. I have tried many of the different sushi rolls - great. Service has always been prompt and very nice. I think the volcano roll is my recent favorite - real crab - not the fake stuff. Very tasty. I will have to take the kids there for dinner sometime.

I can't comment on the food. I walked out... two tables that arrived after I was set were waited upon first. On the other hand, the three ladies who seemed to be hosting were friendly, the place was well decorated and the sushi everyone else was eating looked appetizing. Not sure I'll be back.

The sushi is amazing and customer service is good. Unfortunately I have had some fluctuation in the quality of food. Ginger salad is one of my favorite foods and sometimes the dressing is one of my favorites other times it is very watered down. Either way the I will continue to visit and recommend highly.

Enjoyed my sushi & associated yummy stuff, especially the specialty one -- flaming something-or-other with cream cheese, heavenly :)

This place is amazing! I love love love it! I was kind of skeptical to come at first because I've heard mixed things in the past, but this place is a must for locals. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating to our indecisiveness. She was always happy to explain what was on the menu. The restaurant is a little dark but very nicely decorated and great for a casual lunch. These lunch portions are VERY generous. Of all the sushi places I've been to, these rolls are the largest. Flavor-wise, the mistake roll is promising. It comes out warm and crispy with a nice soft bite. The California roll and my white fish tempura roll were okay. The lunch combos also come with a nice Asian-style salad with peanut dressing and miso soup. My friends and I were worried we wouldn't get much food for what we paid (~$11), but we left with food comas.

The Sushi is amazing!!! I always receive great service. The menu is filled with very creative rolls. I try a new sushi roll every time I visit and I am never disapointed.

This is my favorite sushi place in Indy so far. They are consistently good. I do wish they had some sort of kids menu though :)

Tonight was the most crowded I've seen this place! Maybe it was the holidays. It doesn't matter because the sushi was fabulous. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated. The wait staff was great. The food was awesome. I recommend the "mistake" roll and yellowfin tuna nigiri. The tuna melts in your mouth like butter. On top of that, great atmosphere. When you're done, go next door to Hearthstone, Chatham Tap, or Chateau Thomas Wine bar for a nightcap!

Enjoyed our lunch here. It was nice to be able to sit outside. The chirashi-zushi was good, as was the chuka-ika. The tendon was not very good, but the waiter kindly brought me more takuan pickles on request, which was nice. We received friendly smiles and nods as we left. The biggest fault I found was the quality of the green tea - like dilute tea bag tea. If it had more taste, it would have been terrible.

Went there for a date night. The restaurant is nice and service was good. All the sushi was good except the spicy tuna was kind of warm and a somewhat strange texture. Overall a good experience!

I was extremely excited to hear that this place was owned by the people who own Wasabi on 82nd. After visiting, I have a hard time believing this is true after being here. Slow service, mediocre food and expensive prices. Rolls were 12-15 for the specialties....that is absurd. They did have a few that were in that 6-9 range but they were pretty simple. Teriyaki dishes were $18-21. I'm still upset about the service. Our waitress had 2 other tables (there were probably 6 tables total sat when we were there and another waitress had 4) and the service was ABSURDLY slow. I don't understand where she kept disappearing to. Was she also the cook? I'm so confused. Anyway, not going to waste too much breath on this review and it seems the public mimics my review. Avoid this place unless you have no other option IMO.

High priced, slow to deliver sushi, slow to offer refill on hot tea, no fried calamari appetizer on the menu (which is awesome at other locations). The steamed shrimp dumplings were not attractive, but tasted very good. The rolls were Heavy on rice and light on the seafood filling (skimpy). Server was friendly so she gets the stars. Next time we will go to Bento Cafe' or Sapporo.

Sushi is one of my favorite foods and I always try all the different restaurants I can. This sushi was pretty bland and unoriginal. We have not tried anything else there but with all the great sushi options in the area we will likely go elsewhere. We both left there saying "meh."

Visited here many times. Lunch and Dinner with friends, family and by myself at the bar. Its really a hit or miss when it comes to the service. Yes I've sat there waiting for hours to no end and was ready to walk. Other times the customer service is right on perfect. Really depends who your server is. If there new, good luck. The Nemo roll is my favorite. Prices are a bit high however the rolls seem to be bigger than other places. The patio is a nice break from the indoor shuffle. Give yourself a two hour lunch and you should be good to go.

Wasabi makes everything better. Pretty good. Better than naked chopstix but still not crazy fresh

I got the lunch special #3 the mistake roll was fantastic! My shrimp roll was so so. Did not care for the soup and salad either. If there is a next time I will stick to the rolls

Oof, what a lunch. If it weren't for the great company I was with, I might have walked out. Our server was so frazzled she never brought our drinks, so after 30 mins we had to ask the host to get them. Once our food arrived she forgot the salads, soup, soy sauce dishes and spoons. We finally did get settled with our food but our drinks were never once refilled. I guess the food was good, but the service was so terrible it never really was enjoyable. Don't think this one will get a second chance with me.

We start with the Edamame, which has always been excellent, and then move on to the rolls. We love the Mangolicious and the Volcano rolls. The owner is very nice and personable. Service is usually excellent and they have a nice patio for those who like to eat outdoors.

    (4)
  • Nicole L.

A bit pricey for the quantity you receive. I mean I expect sushi to be pricey regardless, but paying $30 for 12 pieces of sushi and a small bowl of edamame seems like not a lot of bang for your buck, especially at lunch. Tried the Phoenix (to be fair, one of their more expensive rolls) and the spicy albacore w Ponzu sauce. If you go, get the ponzu sauce roll! It's just as good as the Phoenix in flavor, and half the price. Service was definitely lacking, but that could have been just because they were nearing the end of their lunch hour. Overall, decent sushi (it really was pretty good) but not somewhere I would probably go again.

    (3)
  • J T.

The sushi is uninspired at best. More specifically, the ratio of fish to rice was way off. The spider roll, perhaps the worst I've ever experienced, was bland - no crunch, too much rice - just a bunch of puck-like disks of rice with a bit (I think) of cucumber and no (I think) daikon. Not a good value here.

  • William B.

Awesome environment and great staff. "The Mistake" is the roll you HAVE TO have. Sushi rolls were amazing and the staff was very helpful helping us pick some things that were outside of what we would normally get. Only had to wait 10 minutes and the booths are worth waiting for. Third sushi place since I moved to Indy and this place was leaps and bounds ahead of all the others.

  • Lauren H.

I love that this is a family owned restaurant. Since moving to Fishers, my husband and I love that we have found a sushi restaurant that is amazing and in walking distance from where we live! I recommend trying the Nemo and Dragon rolls.

Our close to home, go-to sushi place. Although not the best sushi we've had, I realize I have high expectations after living in Asia. For Midwest sushi it's delicious and the atmosphere is nice. I would recommend to the average sushi eater but not to someone who is an expert.

  • Jennifer H.

I've shared the veggie sushi platter with a friend several times and found it to be very good. I especially like the asparagus tempura roles, but there is a nice variety of four kinds of veggie sushi that comes with the platter. The platter comes with plenty of pieces for two to share. I think they have a good wine selection as well and I enjoyed a plum flavored type one time I visited.

  • Rob S.

Ate lunch here and started with side salad and liked the dressing. Ordered and liked in this order: Firecracker, Mistake, Spiderman. Firecracker was very good and portion size slightly larger than other two items.

As said before, this is an uninspired sushi spot who's best thing it has going for it is nice outdoor seating. I have been there many times and the value is not very great compared the price. I suppose they gotta keep those prices up with how much the rent must be in that strip mall because I know their labor costs can't be too much. Speaking if which, ever notice how much Cantonese us spoken at sushi spots in the Midwest. Is thus some kind of attempt to add to the sense of authenticity of the joint because I'd it is its a major fail, right along with the all that orange sauce slathered on just about every "premium" role.

So many friends love this place it was time to try it for myself. Edemame was too salty. . . .ended up taking off most of the salt. Was greatful they remained hot throughout the meal. 1/2 of the sushi rolls we tried were too big! Do you know how hard it is to take bites out of a roll piece? It just makes it fall apart. Was impressed by the vegitarian options as there are several that are spicy and not just rolled asparagus. I prefer other locations for sushi but my veggie companion has prefered this one over all others due to the choices available.

This is my absolute favorite place for sushi! It's close to home but I'd drive across town for dinner - and I know many people who do! My kids love it, too. They've each come to like certain rolls on their own. And the key to ordering for kids is to order off the lunch menu. We get the Lunch #17 - teriyaki chicken and fried shumai. Best rolls: Spicy albacore with ponzu, Piano, Hot Romance, Flaming Dragon, Ichiban, Orange Crush, Volcano, Nemo. Best cooked rolls are Sun Roll, Mistake, and Firecracker. Starters: great seaweed salad, chuka ika, and my kids love the edamame. I'm not usually a fan of sweet wines but the Koyuki Gold plum wine is fantastic! I've never encoutnered a rude server - but I have witnessed rude customers. This is a family owned and operated business. And it's a wonderful family. And wonderful food. This is my favorite place for time with friends!

Great sushi! We came for dinner, with a party of five and got seated immediately. We had amazing service and some of the best sushi I have ever had. Try the mistake roll and the asparagus beef roll. If you like spicy, try the hot romance.

Still our go to sushi spot. The nigiri is fresh and well prepared. It is expensive but sushi is such and when I have found lower prices elsewhere I found lower quality fish. I want my raw fish fresh. Parking can be challenging because of other places in the strip center. But I have always found a spot. A one star review for parking is ridiculous. Rate the restaurant please. Service can be slow - when busy - but the norm is fine - and they remember and appreciate returning guests. The owners are good people. And for another reviewer I don't believe they speak Cantonese. Mistake Roll and Firecracker Roll are good - my son swears by the spicy tuna roll - all others pale for him. The eel nigiri is my favorite. Enjoy.

Great sushi - order the "other mistake" roll. Great service and to go ordering as well.

Went here last weekend on the recommendation of a friend. We are both from the east coast and have high expectations for our seafood! The sushi was better than average, although not the best I've ever had. The restaurant itself was cute and family friendly. The reason I'm only giving this place 3 stars is the service. We waited almost a half hour for our order to be taken, and another half hour for our food to get to the table. It wasn't very crowded either so no excuse in my opinion for the slow service. Maybe next time we'll try the take out to bypass the long wait of eating in person.

Passed by this place as I am visiting in town and was wanting sushi. Super pleasant and good service (thanks Jamie) and the fish was really fresh! Surprised considering in the Midwest. Had the yellowtail with jalapeño app and Manhattan Roll but subbed soy paper. Delicious! Miso soup was a treat as well in this freezing weather. Will surely be back before my trip ends. :)

Wild Ginger is our go-to sushi bar close to home. The specialty rolls are creative, the traditional rolls are familiar and I enjoy the plum wine flight offered. On busy nights, it's best to make a reservation or call for take out. We waited 40-45 minutes without a reservation and we were in a bit of a rush to get through our meal to make it on time for the second half of our date.

Not a bad place for sushi , the service not very good , they seem so busy hard to get the servers to refill or order the next sushi roll mmm....

Near the top in my book for Sushi. Everything is very fresh and delicious. Try the Jolly Roll for some great spice!

Prepare for fresh Japanese-style cuisine in a crisply modern decor. More than a fun sushi bar, Wild Ginger's menu offers multiple types of nigiri, sashimi, and rolls while including non-sushi options like tempura, skewers and buckwheat noodle/udon combinations. The dining room's design is crisply modern and clean. The Friday night we dined was busy - a large party filled the back dining area. (Popular plaza offers many dining choices, so lot was packed with some spots open in very back.) We chose an outdoor table, but expected to flag down staff since indoors was keeping them on their toes. Despite the crowd and summer heat, we were served promptly and with smiles. Started with excellent Gyoza (fried dumplings), Guinness and Stella. I think we really missed out not trying the Plum Flight: four 2oz. samples of chilled plum wines. Or at least a glass from the extensive saki list with fun names like "Beautiful Young Man" and "Drunken Heart". No complaints when we split a Dinner Combination 2. A small, fresh salad with peanut dressing arrived first. Tasty miso soup arrived in a small, lidded bowl. Dinner was served on a traditional zen tray accompanied by a medium bowl of white rice. Condiments included shaved ginger, wasabi, and soy. Hubby enjoyed the California roll. I liked both the Chicken and Beef Teriyaki and would choose the Chicken Teriyaki again because it was so wonderfully tender. Two potato croquettes with a light panko breading and a tiny spring roll nestled in the corners of our tray as we debated how to split them. If you're a more daring diner, try the Unaju (eel). More traditional diner? Try a twist on the pork tenderloin: Wild Ginger's Tonkatsu specialty is battered and deep-fried.

Amazing! The service is always spectacular and the staff is very friendly. I love this place because of its "feel" in the local community. They're proud to own a business here and they love their repeat customers. We've never encountered one problem with the food. I've had friends from out of town say they lovee the food as well. Take the time to give it a try!

Great sushi. Wonderful speciality rolls. Try the super white tuna crunch, the flaming shrimp and the mistake roll. The spicy sauce is the best.

I was excited to try this new place when I came in town for Christmas, especially given all the positive reviews. I'm really surprised at the outpouring of love for this place. There are much better sushi options in Indianapolis. My chief complaint would be that the rolls are overloaded on rice compared to meager amounts of fish. The servings are mostly 6 pieces, but the prices are lower (confused about the reviewer here that complained about this place being expensive). The rolls we had were all edible, and the spicy albacore with the ponzu sauce was the most memorable, but with all the rice, they really just weren't very flavorful. The Firecracker roll has jalapeno in it (somewhere) but even that didn't seem spicy. The most interesting thing was the origami chandelier, but unfortunately, you can't eat that. Did someone here mention that Wasabi on 82nd is run by the same people? Well, if that's true they're doing better on 82nd St than they are on 116th.

I can finally say I'm a sushi fan thanks to Wild Ginger. Many of my friends boast about their love for sushi, and I could never relate. Now I'm in the mix! Ha! This establishment is certainly relaxing. The white, red and sprinkles of black decor made it sophisticated and alluring. I adored the usage of glass doors everywhere. One even hung from the ceiling. My favorite was the beautiful origami chandelier, which hosted an array of colors. Wild Ginger is swanky and polished. I was fond of the bar setting upfront towards the middle, which had chefs decked out in Japanese attire whipping up everyone's meals. I ordered the shrimp, octopus and crab sushi's ($3-$5 each). I also ordered a main dish Stir Fried Sob Udon Noodles with chicken, which came with miso soup, salad, peanut dressing and rice ($14). The waiter recommended all this and was right on the money. The only thing I could've done without was the octopus. You're probably wondering why I tried it in the first place. Hey you only live once. But it was just too slimy for me, and I couldn't grasp it. The shrimp and crab was simple, yet appetizing. The miso soup was interesting. I couldn't decide what was happening there. I mean it was good, but odd tasting. Hmmm... Next up was the salad accompanied with peanut dressing. Doesn't that sound gross? It was far from unpleasant though. I quickly was caught in its web of scrumptiousness. The dressing was everything. It was creamy and zesty. I couldn't get enough of it.The Stir Fried Sob a or Udon Noodles with chicken was a nice portion size and loaded with delicious veggies. It was full of flavor and came alive with each bite. I enjoyed the sushi while my boyfriend said, "I'm not a fan!" So I'm excited to return with the ladies. Ha!

New Sushi bar with great ambiance. Family owned establishment, friendly staff, funky- eclectic atmosphere and the Sushi isn't half bad. Usually when you enter places that are this nicely decorated you wonder if they're hiding mediocre food. But not in this case. Sushi was fresh and the chef is very creative with his rolls. Good upscale Sake list as well as traditional wines. Great location for business meeting or nice for a date. Excellent Hamilton County location. CHECK THIS PLACE OUT... very nice.

Let me start by saying the food was not bad. In fact, it was pretty decent and fresh. However, the service was horrible. Our server (the one with a tattoo on the back of her neck) didn't catch her name, was rude and smug the little time we interacted with her. The rest of the time she was non-existent. We had ordered some different rolls and she just threw down the plate and walked away. No refills, no how is everything. At one point I thought I was on a hidden camera show. The food was good but not great and just based on the service I don't think I would go back or recommend.

Great food, selection and atmosphere! Cute origami chandelier! It's fun to get different items for everyone to try at the table! There is always plenty to take home! I have no complaints! Even my hard-to-please teenager was pleasently delighted and liked a number of things! Great way to get you kid to start eating sushi and sashimi!

No parking. Couldn't get in even though there were tables due to parking situation in the strip mall. They need to talk to the landlord to arrange more space.

Food was adequate, service was terrible. Hostess was unaccommodating when we asked to seat 6 outside. Server never smiled once nor came back to check on us. It was a major inconvenience to split the checks and took forever- upwards of 45 minutes. Will not be back.

All around, this place is good. I have always come here for lunch, and their lunch menu is a fairly good deal. You can get some nigiri or maki, along with your typical tempura and teriyaki selections--for around $10-12, you will get your fill of salad, miso soup, and an entree. You can also choose from their sushi menu, have some soba noodles, or various other things. Their wine selection is also great, although I haven't partaken during lunch. I would agree with another reviewer that there are better sushi places in Indy, but this is a good option for Fishers.

Great little restaurant! Very nice atmosphere. The sushi was great! The shrimp tempura is good too. The kids loved the chicken teriyaki.

I checked out Wild Ginger today for lunch and will definitely go back. They have a number of lunch specials that include soup and salad in addition to your meal. I had a california roll, spicy tuna roll, salad & soup for $9.50. The fish was very fresh. I carried out so I can't really comment on the service or the decor. The carry out was very quick though. I will definitely go back to Wild Ginger to try more sushi and other menu items. I'll update my review as I have more experience with them.

I work in Fishers and love sushi! So just had to try it. I will be back. I tried rolls that I am familiar with and they were great. Next time I would like to try their "chef special" or 'secret roll" since all sushi places seem to have something they don't put on the menu. So if anyone can share I would appreciate it! Can't say much about the decor or lighting as it is minimal aside from the origami piece, which is really cool. Overall: Good food, hot tea, good portions, lunch is reasonable priced!

  • Robert B.

We have eaten here 4-5 times at lunch as we like their luncheon menu. I'm surprised by the review that complained of too much rice and not enough fish in the sushi rolls. Our experience is just the opposite. My last eel roll was packed with fish. Fish is very fresh and their nigiri salmon and tuna are as good as it gets. Love their light tempura batter. Their shrimp tempura roll is a crispy treat. Very reasonable prices for lunch which includes miso soup and salad. Excellent service.

Today I experienced my first and last visit to Wild Ginger. I have been an avid foodie and experienced sushi eater so I'm always looking for new sushi experiences. From all the previous reviews I was expecting at the very least an experience that would encourage me to return. Even if the food standard was better the service offered by the so called owner/manager ensured that I will never return to this establishment. Complains about the hot rice used in the sushi rolls was met with indifference. The use of regular white short grain rice in chirashi was defended as they way they did it at Wild Ginger and if it was good enough for their other customers then it should be good enough for me. Nothing was offered to make the experience better and only the cucumber roll was comped out of an order of 4 rolls including and inedible spider roll which was burnt with an old grease taste. This type of service should not be tolerated or encouraged by further patronage. I would recommend Izakaya on 96th st as an alternative that offers far greater service and food quality that Wild Ginger could not reach in their wildest dreams.

I can't stay away! Every roll is high quality and delicious. Each sauce is specific to the roll. The quality of the fish and rice is superb. Service is excellent. The entire experience is one of comfort and satisfaction. I have tried sushi all over the country (and Indy) and this is by far the best.
