It's a nice breakfast restaurant to get your typical hearty American breakfast... However, my taste buds didn't rave about the food. It's a typical break place. I really could not tell the food apart from any other breakfast serving restaurants - including the regular chain restaurants -- near by. The coffee did not have the aroma you would expect from a freshly brewed pot made with a just-grounded coffee beans... and probably because it was brewed from a scoop of whatever bulk can they use. (Yeah, maybe I am spoiled, but I want to smell the aroma ). Supposed legendary biscuit with gravy - at least for my taste - was bland. The biscuit was soft..and soggy for my taste.

This place gets an instant 5-star for numerous reasons. I will be back again and again. 1. Very good coffee (4.5 out of 5) and they leave an insulated pot on the table so you can fill it up when and as you see fit (5+ out of 5). 2. Fantastic omelette (5 out of 5), not too big (2 egg and 4 egg options). Egg whites were available for a small charge. And great omelette choices. 3. The hash browns...I could talk about the perfection of their hash browns all day! 5+ out of 5! They were crispy but not too oily. I declined the toast option, so I can't comment on that. I am not sure if they have homemade bread or not. The waitress was great at her job as she checked in on us just enough. My only slight complaint is that the place is almost all booths, which is my preference when I am with my family but I want a table when it is a work related meal. Smoking goose! Indeed!!!!

One of my favorite breakfast places around. The breakfast potatoes are great and their bread is homemade and so tasty. The rye is my favorite. My lunch experience was less positive. The spinach melt (sans bacon) was piled too thickly with a kind of greasy conglomeration of sautéed spinach (which was clearly of the frozen, not fresh variety). My lunch companions enjoyed their meals though, so it may have just been that particular sandwich. It's usually never been a problem to get a table and we generally have parties of either 4 or 6. The large booths fit 6, which is helpful. That aside, it is my go-to location for breakfast.

Going to The Roost is like going to your childhood home for Sunday breakfast any day you want. The staff is the friendliest that you'll find in Hamilton County. The cinnamon toast is out of this world. You will never be alone if you sit at the community counter and you will defiantly love everything on the menu. My son loves their chocolate chip pancakes and the free wifi is a great bonus too.

Lets be honest... Fishers is a quiant town, but most of us venture to Indy or the surrounding areas for non-chain restaurants. Since ive discovered The Roost, I may gave found a reason to stay in town on the weekends as I avoid the inevitable house cleaning. I LOVE going out to breakfast on the weekends & local establishments are always the best. The Roost has a great staff, a large bar area for small groups, & a menu with a great deal of variety. Food: hash browns are great. Omelets are, too. Bread is my weakness & it's homemade, so I may be biased, but I couldn't say no. Prices are very fair for what you get.

Great breakfast food and service from Molly. Pancakes were Fantastic & substitutions were much appreciated. The omelettes were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. Will return soon! Thanks Molly!

Greaaaat breakfast food! The selection includes a little yum for everyone and the Smoking Goose meats was a great touch. I tried a little bit of everything from the special omelet of the day to the home made toast. (ummm...YUM) If you're looking for a home cooked breakfast in a cozy little diner style restaurant, Roost is the place to be!

Wow, wow, wow. If I didn't care about my wallet or my waistline, I would come here every morning. The service was great in that they made sure our needs were met but didn't bother us too much. It helped that they put a coffee craft on the table so we could refill at our own choosing so as not to mess up the perfect balance of coffee and creamer in my mug. Although it didn't state it on the menu, the omelets were available in half sizes which our server told us about and made for a perfectly sized portion for one. All three of us who ordered omelets were completely impressed. My husband ordered the goose (three cheers for using local meat) and loved it. I ordered something California that had avocado in it and ohmygosh, YUM! They weren't shy about the avocado which I know isn't cheap and really impressed me. Their toast was thickly sliced. I had the corn casserole for my side and it was down home comfort food. I have no idea why it took me so long to finally try this place but it will become a regular stop for me.

Well we were visiting from Ohio and were so pleased with this place. Our server Ross or Rossome for awesome was great. That cornbread casserole was so very good and I cannot find a recipe for anything like it!!! breakfast was delicious. Will be back! Super friendly staff.

This is a great breakfast/lunch place. It's reasonably priced and delicious. It's super convenient for the Fishers natives. I ordered the California BLT and it's fantastic because it's toasted with avocado, turkey, BLT. I recommend this place! I think that on Sunday mornings after church it gets pretty crowded.

Asked for a skillet with turkey sausage but the cook decided to throw in some random pork sausage for some reason. I don't eat pig for dietary reasons and I still can't understand why they did it. The waitress was nice enough to remove it from the bill but the manager didn't make an appearance.

Alas, I'm compelled to diverge from the otherwise positive ratings here... We made our first trip to The Roost yesterday morning. After seeing a number of Smoking Goose meats on the menu, we had very high hopes. Melissa ordered the Breakfast Burrito, which was fairly good. I ordered the Jose Salsa Skillet, which was decidedly NOT good; actually, it was so disgusting I couldn't even eat it. First, it came out with completely solid-yolk poached eggs. No big deal. The waitress was very nice when I mentioned it, and she took the dish back promptly to correct the mistake. When the second take came to the table the eggs were nicely poached, but unfortunately there was also a ring of grease about a quarter inch thick and wide all the way around the edges of the skillet. Despite being unnerved by the glaring grease ring, I took my first bite from the middle with hopes that it would be okay as long as I steered clear of the edge. Wrong. If there was a lot of grease on the top perimeter of the dish, there was waaaay more soaking into the hash brown base. I had to stop there. I feel very remiss for not taking a photo, which would have told this 2-star story much more quickly and clearly than I have. This was a waste of $25; we won't be back.

Came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Had to wait 15 minutes for a table. The interior is very boring, just a bunch of booths with no decor to speak of. Very small and uninspiring menu that is out of date. Nothing but fatty traditional breakfast items with subpar ingredients and subpar presentation. I had the fruit plate which consisted of some grapes, some melon, and an english muffin for $7. My friends had omlettes and breakfast burritos, which were okay but nothing special. Sunrise Cafe and Original Pancake House are much better breakfast spots in Fishers.

The roost is THE best breakfast spot in Fishers. You get a TON of food for the money. Service is fast and friendly. Try the Jose salsa skillet or one of their sandwiches. The coffee cake is amazing as well. It can get busy on Sundays for brunch.

Good breakfast food in a popular local 'dive' establishment. I went on a Sunday morning and it was crowded... my party waited for about 25 minutes, but it's worth the wait. Breakfast food is nothing really special but it's done right and the staff is nice. Wide range of customers, from high schoolers to families to senior citizens. The ambience is more 1950s diner than 21st century eatery, it fits. Don't go out of your way to find an IHOP or a Denny's (both far away), just stay local and eat here. It won't disappoint.

I can not believe that I'm the 1st to write about The Roost. The first thing I have to say is it is the little brother to Sahm's. If you have eaten at Sahm's you know the fine food they put out. Well The Roost stands up to that history at Breakfast, Lunch, and now Diner time. The food is always top notch and fresh. It is mush more of a Diner style then Sahm's, and that is OK with me, mt kind of place. Remember to eat well and live well and please no chains!

Good service. Average breakfast food. I had the French toast it was good and my fiance had the veggie omelet she enjoyed it. We had a slice of coffee cake that was recommended in earlier post and was disappointed. I also received cold hashbrowns but the server quickly fixed the mistake. Overall good service, average food, and little wait. Would recommend and will return in the future.

Nothing extraordinary, but very good food. I don't see Guy Fieri showing up anytime soon at The Roost, but for a comfy barstool right in front of a big flatscreen pushing Fox News, it'll do just fine. Poached eggs and a pancake, strong iced tea and a litlle drive 'n dish with the staff started my day off just fine. See 'ya soon!

Foodwise, maybe a 3.5, but the service brings this place up. I was a bit reluctant to go here after a friend of mine seemed underwhelmed, but we had a coupon, so we figured at least we could get it on the cheap. AMBIENCE- definitely not a glamorous joint. The place consists of booths and bar seating. Rather drab lighting, this place definitely has that hole in the wall feel to it. Probably not a place you would want to have a first date, this place still has a charming "locals" feel to it. SERVICE- our server Ben was very friendly and very attentive. I was really struggling between what to get, and he gave his candid opinion, with both pros and cons. He even went the extra mile when I couldn't decide between yeast rolls and cornbread to give me a sample of both. I got the feeling that most of the servers were as friendly as ours. MENU- this place is known for their breakfast, which they serve all day- NICE. I could eat breakfast for every meal if it weren't so unhealthy (or rather, if I weren't so unhealthy). Evidently dinner is a recent addition. The breakfast menu was a pretty decent size (omlettes, combos, pancakes, etc..., though no country fried steak??), where as dinner only had a few options (meatloaf, pittsburgh style steak, fried chicken, chicken and noodles). Wtih the dinner options, you could add $2 to your meal and get all you can eat sides (beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, and your choice of bread). FOOD- my wife was craving steak, so she got the pittsburgh style steak (steak served on a hot plate basically). I was struggling between the fried chicken and some omlette that had 5 types of meat in it. The server said the fried chicken was more bang for your buck, so I went that route. With the chicken I got potatoes, beans, rolls/cornbread, and a layered salad (house specialty with different items with a mayo based dressing). My wife enjoyed her steak, and I was really digging the fried chicken. The white meat was juicy, and the chicken itself was not oily or heavy. The only hiccup of the meal was there was saran wrap that had fallen into my potatoes. Normally that would have been a huge red flag, but the server was really good about it, and apologized profusely about the mix up (I imagine the saran wrap was being used to cover a tray of potatoes or something). OVERALL- Nothing fancy, just good home cooking. I definitely want to go back and check out breakfast. It's funny, we had a $3 off coupon that we got in the mail that we used, however, if we had forgotten it, they had other coupons at the door. Worth checking out if you're in the area. Celebrity Rating- Gary Busey

Pretty good food. Good grilled cheese, good mac and cheese except for the crunch of the breadcrumbs on top makes it weird, and excellent bacon. Like this place but I wouldn't say I love it.

Wow. I had the Italian Goose melt and the Rooster Mac. I would highly recommend trying any of the melts. The bread is fabulous and the choices are varied.

Since my husband and I have been on the hunt for a new regular breakfast joint, we have hit The Roost a few times. BEST CORN BEEF HASH EVER. Yeah, so that's what I usually get, never disappointed. I love that consistency. This isn't the cubed sh*t from a can with over processed beef type product and mushy potatoes. This is real shredded potatoes with delectable chunks of real corn beef. Eat it, you will thank me and be able to die a happy person. Coffee is really good . . . inside. While it's thoughtful to have coffee for patrons while they wait, it may lead a newcomer to believe that if they serve low quality water downed coffee they then the food must not be that great. Which is not the truth, at all! So bypass the while you wait coffee. My husband usually gets the omelets and loves the cheese n bacon one. I believe the meats ate from Smoking Goose. I love the garlic gaga omelete, but as you could probsbly tell from the first paragraph, that has only been 9rdered once. Omelets come 2 egg or 4 egg, which is a nice option to have. Only once have we had bad service. It was very out the ordinary so I won't hold it against them. The Roost will stay in the running for regular Sunday breakfast spot. It's local and they try to use some local products, definately worth points in my book.

Visited on Labor Day for a late breakfast. Place was crowded but only had to wait about 10 minutes, so not bad at all. After placing our order we waited for ever. Server eventually came by to tell us that our order was misplaced and they were going to get it out asap. What? Misplaced? We finally did get food which was not bad but by by that time I would have eaten just about anything. No adjustment was made to our bill whatsoever. Save yourself the trouble and go some place else, not worth the agrivation.

The perfect breakfast spot that still manages that small, hometown feel with the locals sitting up at the bar discussing town events while watching Fox News on the tvs. Service here has always been prompt and friendly, but it is pretty popular on the weekends, so expect a slight wait at peak times. My favorites are their skillets, a mix of eggs, cheese, your choice of meat, and hashbrowns, their corn beef hash is also amazing as is their biscuits and gravy. Do yourself a favor and opt for a side of their popular coffee cake to go with your order. Servings for the majority of their plates are large, so be prepared to walk away full or with some leftovers. They also serve lunch as well, but for me the real winners are the breakfast items.

Darn good breakfast! The only constructive feedback is that our meals didn't come out at the same time. Otherwise...crispy bacon. An excellent biscuits and gravy. Brewed iced tea. Eggs cooked to order. Hash browns were perfect. Great coffee cake. Fresh fruit. Plenty of water. Solid friendly service.

We're new to the area, so we're exploring restaurants every weekend. My wife has already proclaimed The Roost her favorite, and that's based on many years of breakfast dining, not just in this area. They bake all their own breads and pastries. Try the raisin bread or sugar-cinnamon toast. Yum! The cornbread casserole is another dish my wife and I highly recommend. And the service was prompt, attentive and very friendly. Enjoy!

I went to Roost because it boasted of Smoking Goose meats, which they have but are only in a few of their meal choices. Unless your going to get a meal with smoking goose meats in it, the breakfasts here are not worth your time. Seats seem to be limited and the decor could use a face lift. As a 2 star rating says "Meh. I've experienced better."

On a recent Sunday, decided to try this place out but I wasn't overly impressed by the whole experience. Hostess: Quoted us a wait time of 20 min but our wait was less than 10. Did she make a honest mistake in her estimate or do they intentionally inflate wait times to discourage people from waiting? Had the sausage skillet. While it was a filling meal, there was nothing to excite me. It felt like a regular entree that you could get at any breakfast joint. Sitting next to the window, there was a huge breeze around my ankles that it was almost uncomfortable to sit correctly in the booth. I wanted to sit facing out of the booth and rest my legs on the cushion.

Dear Lord the biscuits here are heavenly! The biscuits and gravy are well seasoned with a very nice portion for $5.89. The pancakes were sweet and tasty, not dry at all. I also ordered the breakfast burrito with sausage and will definitely order this next time I am there! :) The coffee is great too, and they will give you a nice to-go cup to take some on the road. The Roost: "Worth the wait and the weight."

My daughter and I stopped in for lunch a couple of weeks ago - no frills breakfast and lunch place. Seated promptly, order taken by a very nice waitress. They rearranged the entry for (presumably) more seating. We had a seat very close to the door and it was rather cold - not the end of the world. Ordered the spinach melt with fries, daughter went with a cheeseburger and fries. Melt was very good - larger in size, served on nice bread with tomato. Fries were hot and fresh and what I would describe as "Shoestring boardwalk style". Not a fan. Too little potato and too much grease. Sort of like the basket filler you get at a Long John Silver's. Daughter liked them though - she had half of mine. Noticed that the Roost was listed as a place to visit (!) from a customer who was in town on business. Not sure what it says about Fishers in general, but he went there for breakfast on our recommendation and really enjoyed as well. Good local place - suitable for breakfast and lunch. Come as you are.

Great local joint in the heart of Fishers. My favorite go to is the Jose Skillet. Service during the week is top notch. On the weekends it is spotty unless you get one of the veteran servers. The coffee cake is the bomb. I bring the kids here regularly and they like the French toast and pancakes. The coffee is good and they always ask if you want want one for the road. Can't say the same thing about the service down the street at Sahm's. There is a reason I go to the Roost everyday and a reason I go to Sahm's twice a year.

  • Erica G.

Great breakfast place with affordable prices. I will have to come back and try the lunch selection. Be warned that on the weekends thereby be a considerable wait to get a table. Once you are seated the service is great and attentive. The omelet had great flavor and was a good sized portion. My boyfriend had the French toast and described it as "melt in your mouth good". It was optional to top it with fruit which he decided against this time. They have several tables that can accommodate larger parties (6-8) which was nice to see as well as a bar type counter if you were a small party of 1-2. Love seeing the local guy get the local business!

The wife and I stopped in on a Sunday morning to continue our breakfast/brunch tour of Indy. We LOVE rockstone pizza and live right by Sahms Place, but unfortunately neither of those are open at 8am (although Sahms does do brunch later in the day) We arrived about 8 and were seated immediately. As quickly as we could order it, coffee was at the table. We debated a while, but both settled on pancakes. I went with my token choice of bacon in the cakes and added a poached egg. I'm going to start with the egg: 100% perfectly poached. The cakes...tasted weird. They didn't taste bad, but they wouldn't make me want to come back. After eating I saw some egg dishes come out with sides of bread and remembers the yelp reviews talking about homemade bread. I think your best bet here is probably eggs with bread. Unfortunately, we had great service but I can't award more than 3 stars based on those mediocre pancakes. But, we promised ourselves we would try them again and eat eggs and homemade bread.

This is my go to restaurant place here in Fishers. It is right down the street from my house, cheap, and some of the best breakfast around. That being said, even though I've eaten here several times, I get the same thing always. The biscuits and gravy are out of this world. The biscuits are sooooo moist and soft and the gravy is homemade creamy, rich goodness. I also enjoy their homemade corned beef hash. It is soooo deliciously flavored with huge chunks of corned beef throughout. Now for the bad. I am an egg Benedict junkie and I'm not too fond of theirs here. I would skip it. Stick with the corned beef hash and/or biscuits with gravy and you will be happy.

A friend of mine and I stopped in for brunch on a Sunday and both had a very pleasant experience. I ordered the chorizo and cheese omelet with hash browns and wheat toast, and all of it was delicious! The bread was good and it's nice that it's homemade. pricing was reasonable and our waitress was very attentive!
