We stopped into The Vine before taking in a show at The Lerner. We were seated outside on the patio and were promptly waited on. The service staff was extremely friendly. After having visited the South Bend location, I was prepared to be dis-satisfied. First thing that is so cool about The Vine is the location. Its located in what is called "The Security Building" in Downtown Elkhart, it's the tall red stone building with the copper roof...so cool. We ordered drinks and the Bruschetta App to start out with...the balsamic on the crostini was so sticky and sweet...good stuff. I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken...Score! This was great, although I would have liked more artichoke, capers and sun-dried tomatoes... My lovely Wife had the Lobster Ravioli, loved it. I asked what the desserts were and if they were made in-house, and to my surprise, they were! The bread pudding was top notch, but it had a really hot spot in the center from what I assume was a microwave hotspot. My son had the Raspberry cheesecake and it was fantastic! We will be back!

We LOVE this restaurant! Every time we go here, the food is amazing. The staff is always willing to accomodate, and makes great recommendations. I suggest if you're a pizza lover...try the buffalo chicken pizza. We love their beer choices as well.

The Cowboy Ribeye is A-MAZ-ING! I took my fiance here for a date night. The atmosphere was great and the food was even better. A little on the pricey side - but I'd come here again!

Very very good. My husband and I went here because I received a gift certificate and were very pleasantly surprised with how good it was! I had the pesto chicken sandwhich and my husband had the chicken club wrap. We also shared a small tuscan vineyard pizza. The pizza was AMAZING. It was so so good. We got fruit as a side with our sandwhiches. The best lunch I have had in a while. Upon leaving the restaurant, I forgot the leftovers on the table and my husband was extremely dissapointed for days. This is a great place.

I have been a long time fan of The Vine for years. In the 7 years that I have lived in Elkhart, I have been there at least 50 times for business lunches and date nights. I don't know if they have recently changed ownership.... but the Vine has gone downhill fast. Food is not the same, inexperienced waitstaff, dirty, dirty decor on dinning room. I would not recomend The Vine and will most likely not be back.

This place is great! Yes, when they are busy, service lacks....just like every place. Support a family and eat at this great place!

One of my favorite restaurants in Elkhart. Love the staff. The Asiago Dip is an absolute must. I typically get the pizza which I really enjoy. Sandwiches are great and my wife enjoys their salads. I go for that Asiago dip and the bread.

One of my favorite downtown restaurants. The best salads in Elkhart (if you don't count the eggplant "salad" at Antonio's as a real salad). The garbage salad is really amazing, and it's like $12 for a pretty massive portion. The chicken they use on their salads is really juicy, but the steak and mahi-mahi are great as well. Friendly staff as well as outdoor seating are added bonuses.

This place is terrible. Bad service, food way too expensive for what you get, and sloppy waitstaff. I ordered the steak sandwich and was shocked when it came out with about six small slivers of steak and was on what appeared to be an onion bun bought from Walmart. The presentation was terrible! It was squished down and looked so pathetic. And for $11! In Elkhart, IN? Some places think they can charge those prices but don't understand they actually need to deliver. I also found several chunks of wood in the sandwich and when I showed them to our server he asked me (quite rudely) if I wanted a new sandwich but at that point my party was almost done with their meals and I didn't want to hold them up. So I looked through the rest of the sandwich and made sure it was free of wood then finished it. NO mention of comping the order whatsoever which left me feeling so irritated. Then the waiter comes back out and says "it's just wood, not uncooked food, don't worry it won't hurt you." Seriously?!?! $11 for a sandwich with wood chips in it and no offer to take it off the bill or even an apology. Unreal. I will NEVER go to The Vine again and will strongly discourage others from going.

The worst service I have ever had in a restaurant to date. I have never, not left a tip, but I did tonight. No menus when we were seated, they were out of wine glasses so they could not bring us our wine, after my first glass of wine they brought me my second glass and said, and I quote "we are out of the Cabernet so I brought you a zin, it's the closest to what you had the first time ". Asked for water and he brought it in a plastic cup and said, and again I quote, "it's not classy, but it is water". Really doubt I will ever darken their door again.

I've eaten at the Vine over 50-60 times. Not the same place I remember. Help questionable. Walked in at 4:00 pm, 2 other people in the bar area. A host walked up and asked me if she could help me. I said yes I would like a glass of wine. She told me she had never waitressed before, until today. She actually couldn't open a bottle of wine without my help. No training, so I don't blame her. The manager laughed when she told him, she struggled with wine. The girl had told me he had left for a while, when I asked her if there was a bartender. Notre Same bowl game was on, I asked them to turn on the TV, I was told the TV was broke for a while now. I am very disappointed in the service, the food, and the atmosphere. May not return for a long time. The owners need to pay attention or there will be another failed restaurant in Elkhart.

Loved it here. It seems everything in Elkhart closes at 5 but I'm glad my friend and I stopped in. Waiter graciously understood our budget, and even had the kitchen split our sandwich and salad. Both were amazing. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was that the grilled chicken in the Caesar salad didn't taste fresh. It was a little dry. The side of fruit (melon) was perfect and the chicken wrap was super tasty. We only had water but I plan on trying one of their martinis.

Nice location on Main Street in the old downtown area of Elkhart. The 3 or 4 block downtown area on Main Street seems to have lot of nicely renovated buildings with shops and small business. Free parking on the street. Located in an old building with a nice, eclectic decor. We arrived around 1:15 on a weekday and were seated immediately. They have two seating areas, we selected the back area which was bit more secluded and quiet. We were quickly greeted by our server and we asked for water, and he brought two glasses with lots of ice and lemon. During our meal he was very attentive, and refilled our glasses several times. Excellent service. I don't think they have a separate dinner menu, but lunch menu did not provide a lot of selections, but my wife and I quickly found something that sounded appealing. The server told us about the 2 soups of the day, egg drop and cream of mushroom. I ordered the Cajun grilled mahi mahi sandwhich. It was served on great bread...like a French Baguette....with a very good sauce. It came with a choice of fruit or pasta salad and I selected the pasta salad. The sandwich and pasta were excellent. My wife selected the "garbage salad" which had raisins, walnuts, apple slices, blue cheese with an excellent balsamic vinegar dressing which she ordered on the side. It had two pieces of garlic toast on top. She really enjoyed it and I sampled it and was great. Her salad was around $8.50 and my fish sandwich around $9.00. Very nice lunch for modest price. We had lunch here last summer and it has been consistently good both times. When I have a good restaurant experience, like I had today, I like to find something to suggest as an improvement. I suggest, perhaps one or two specials to provide more variety to the menu, especially if you eat here frequently.

We had three sandwich orders and waited for twenty minutes before the waitress came out to let us know that our ticket had never been sent back to the kitchen staff. Another fifteen minutes and a few snide comments from the waitress when we said that we had a tight schedule, we finally received all three sandwich orders. After only two bites into my chicken wrap, I chomped into something that felt like a bone. Upon pulling it out, I discovered it was in fact bits of rusty metal that had been weaved into my wrap sandwich. The size of it would have caused serious intestinal or tracheal damage if I had swallowed it. When we showed the waitress she took my food away and comped our bill. She never asked if I would like anything else to eat to replace my dish. After this long of wait, I was beyond hungry and irritated. Our waitress took the plate back to the kitchen staff and then reassured me that what I almost swallowed was not a rusty staple, but bristles from the grill brush. A "Well, what can you do?" attitude, no apology from a manager, no food to replace what had been eaten, and a near trip to the ER causes me great concern. Truth be told, it will be awhile before I feel comfortable eating out again. I have never complained about a restaurant before. I love to eat at local eateries and was looking forward to trying out the Elkhart location. I am not sure if this is a staff issue or a reflection on the establishment as a whole, but I won't be dining here again. EDIT TO REVIEW: I spoke with the manager on the telephone and the management has apologized for what has happened and has promised to handle this differently in the future.

I have never left The Vine hungry or disappointed. Great appetizers and main entrees. I never make it to dessert!

Ate here not too long ago and got food poisoning. Would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy. Eat at your own risk.

AWFUL experience. There was a concert at The Lerner and it was Art Walk so think they would have been prepared for big crowd. As we were seated they hold us they were out of menus. Finally after 30 minutes waiter found 2 for our table of 4 to share. After sitting there 45 minutes we finally placed our order and wanted to order drinks...they are out of glasses (what???) so we had to take the glasses we had to the bar ourselves and get those filled. After 1 hour and 45 minutes we still did not have our food nor a bill and no waiter in site, we estimated our bills and had to leave to make it to the show. Will never go back again!

I give this place a mixed review. I often enjoy the Vine for lunch, and like their salads and appetizers. But I have been there with larger parties on busy nights, and it just seems like the kitchen breaks down. I have waited at table for a half hour without the waiter making eye contact or letting us know how our order was doing. I will probably keep going back because of the downtown location. I like sitting at the bar and getting some food and wine. However, on two occasions, they have run out of Chardonnay. How can you be called "The Vine" and run out of Chardonnay?
