I love authentic drive-ins. This is a gem, less than a mile off of turnpike, great chili dog, onion rings, fries and of course root beer in a mug. Turn on the oldies in your car and live it up!

Their food is always affordable. Yes its a drive in. The fish fillets are tender and amazing. Of course their whole menu is delicious! Although its hard to come by a nice refreshing fish that does taste fresh. Their portion sizes are also bigger. So more bang for the buck period. Affordable. Fast. Refreshing. Especially their root beer. Oh how it feels amazing on a hot day to drink their root beer.

What a great little place, super friendly staff, it's been a favorite of mine for several years you must try the root beer in a big frosted mug.

I don't like root beer, yet I love the root beer here. Very good. The food is basically what you wished McDonald's food was like. I've had better burgers, but the novelty never wears off. Never feels like summer without a trip to the Drive-In

My favorite spot for a cold frosty Root Beer. The Root Beer was fantastic in this cold weather the mug stayed frosty the whole time it was on my tray. The neon all over the front of the building was very retro and gave the place some flare. I tried the 50th Anniversary burger and it was very tasty. I added jalapeños and a jalapeño cheese which spiced it up. The fried pickles with ranch are great. Then ordered a elephant ear for desert but could not finish it since I was so stuffed.

I read AMAZING reviews for this so i searched it out as I was driving across the US. Umm. it's a big overrated. What I liked: The Rootbeer floats. So damn good. The set up was cool. They put the plates on your window and you order like you have flashback into the 50's - which is a cool experience. What I didn't like: Pork Tenderloin sandwich. Are you kidding me? The damn name has TENDER in it, this dried out peice of crap, ew. looked more like an old fish patty. I was expecting a real pork tenderloin sandwich. not a deep fried mess. Fries were good. Everyone else liked the dogs, I didn't have any. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy, be glad you are in your car. lol Final Thoughts: Grab some fries and a rootbeer float and get dinner later, somewhere else.

i just had "dinner" here tonight. The root beer was great, as some have said... but my burger was significantly lower quality than the McDonald's dollar menu, and that's already scraping the bottom of the barrel. The fries were entirely tasteless as well. Don't bother.

Great root beer and fries! The bacon cheeseburger was delicious, but avoid the chicken - the breaded patty definitely tastes like a frozen food service patty. This is a fun place to grab lunch on a sunny day.

What a fun place! Thanks, Yelp, for making a long road trip more enjoyable by telling us about this cool and unique drive-in restaurant! We were tired of sitting in our car so chose to sit at their tables outside but there were people being served in their cars. They have cool ordering screens with their whole menu on it- very easy to read and convenient. Their food is really tasty and the prices are reasonable. The burgers are delicious, fries are thin and crispy, their fried pickles are spears (not slices/chips) and really, really good. Their homemade root beer is delicious too. The server was super friendly and positive and we liked that. Fun place!

Awesome root beer! This place has great hot dogs and floats of all kinds! I had a Dreamsicle float which was pretty good - but the ROOT BEER IS GREAT! I'm glad a place like this is around - staff is friendly, food is fast and it's a fun place to go!

I've always liked root beer. After visiting Simonton Lake Drive-In, I love it. My first visit was on a Wednesday night, when the Drive-In costs a collection of classic cars. I rode in with Motion Left mopeds, and we easily found outdoor seats to enjoy the warm spring night. Each table had a vintage Order-Matic menu and speakerbox, and our server quickly popped out with hot burgers, fresh onion rings and ice-cold frosty root beer in giant mugs. You can even order by the half-gallon, which comes in a handy plastic jug for transport home. The root beer was so good my friend drank his entire half gallon at the drive-in. Meals come on elevated trays, so your root beer overflow won't soggy up your burger. Genius!

Maybe it is mostly nostalgia, but I love this place!!! You gotta get the root beer! I always get the mozzarella sticks and the pizza burger (with extra sauce). Since I do not live there I have family members that will go at the end of season and buy some pizza burgers and freeze them for me, so I can be happy in the freezing cold winter :)

Another childhood classic I have to hit once a summer when I visit my parents. I've been eating their cheeseburgers and fries for my entire life. Listen. The food is fine. Is it spectacular? No. (The onion rings are, actually.) But the truth is, you're there for the throwback experience of ordering through a speaker and someone bringing your food on a tray that hooks to your window. And you know what IS spectacular? The root beer. Every time. They also have picnic tables behind the building (with more speakers) if all of the parking spaces are full or you're on a motorcycle (or walked over from the neighborhood).

Simonton Lake Drive-In is as good as road food gets! Open since '65, this place still has you choose between a carhop bringing your food to the car window on a tray or dining al fresco at a picnic table. We chose the latter. I got a meaty, delicious bacon burger, thin cut French fries and a rich vanilla shake, that hit the umami, sweet and salty spots I was craving. My friend Josh loved the root beer, served in the classic style, in a frosty mug.

Favorite root beer! They must have a new chef, because he can cook a burger. I haven't been there since 2006, and the food wasn't that great. I had a big burger that was juicy, and the fried pickles were very very good.

Love, love, love it. My family loves this place and we come here a million times in the summer. It is always super sad when they close for the winter because we know it will be a while before we can eat it again. The burgers are awesome, the fries are really good, and the root beer is the best I have ever tasted. ALL of the food is great. The service is prompt and friendly. The place to be in the spring and summer!!
