Love the fajitas and Thomas is the best waiter. The chips and salsa are outstanding. I also enjoy the pork enchilada which is very flavorful.

One of my families' favorite restaurants to go to for American Mexican food. They serve plenty of complimentary chips n salsa.! The garlic mushrooms, as a side, are to die for!

Over rated Americanized Mexican food.... Would much rather go to Ricky's ... Haci tries to reel you in with their drink specials. Food sucks and staff doesn't care unless you tip..

I just like table side guacamole and margaritas. I do not think most of their food is very good. Ranch is good here too.

Just spent 25 minutes on hold trying to order carry-out. Finally got someone to answer only to be "asked" to hold again. When I told them I had already been on hold for 25 mins I was told hopefully it won't be that long again and was put on hold again. At that point I gave up.

Low quality Mexican food, not at all "authentic", and way overpriced! Service is slow and poor. Like every other Hacienda I've tried.

Hacienda is a "574" area code must. From the frozen margaritas, to the chips and salsa (ORDER A SIDE OF RANCH), and bounty of delish Ameri-Mexican food, it is like SB comfort food. First, order ranch w/ everything. You are at a Mexican restaurant, did you really expect to get off easy? Next, you should definitely order either a chimichanga (with a side of enchilada, you'll thank me later) or a wet burrito. Your stomach will thank you for these options.

If you are Elkhart visiting or moving here you are welcome! This is the best Mexican food in the WORLD of Elkhart ;) the margaritas are always spot on and the wet burrito is a grand slam! Unless you are starving, get the small as they are huge portions! I don't always visit Elkhart but when I do, I got to hacienda!!!! (In my Dos Equis guy voice)

Best Mexican in the town of Elkhart! Get the Wet Burrito or if you want to sample everything get the Hacienda special! Love it !

Just feel like the service level and food quality has dropped over time. For the price, there are better mexican choices. The chips and salsa and wet burrito are staples and usually good.

Their frozen margaritas were good. But food is just below average. We tried their wet burrito with shredded chicken. The chicken was too old and horrible to taste. The shrimp fajita was much better. Would not go here again for Mexican food

It's Hacienda. Not necessarily authentic, but a local fave nonetheless.

Hacienda is considered a staple in the Michiana area and are known for their frozen Margarita's and free chips and salsa. They are very good about being involved with the community by participating in 'give backs' for various fundraising or charitable causes. They do have daily food and drink specials which are reasonably priced. Several of the long term employees provide efficient and friendly service, most of the servers have adequate service skills, and there are a few who are consistently rude. Overall I would give the service 3 stars, but it is the quality of the food that earn this rating one star. Hacienda at Easy Shopping Place in Elkhart is the worst of all the Hacienda restaurants I've been to when it comes to presentation. Do not order the Mexican Pizza EVER. It's a soggy flour tortilla topped with hamburger, what looks like canned spaghetti sauce, and yellow cheese microwaved on a plate to resemble a dirty baby diaper. And it tastes just the way it looks. Hacienda offer's a protein choice of ground beef, shredded beef, shredded chicken or shredded pork with several entree's. I suggest asking your server to request that the kitchen 'drain' the shredded chicken should one choose to order it. The spicy ground beef is consistently dry so you will want to order extra sauce. The shredded beef is the best bet at Hacienda, however, the tortillas are usually soggy or drenched in enchilada sauce. Let's talk appetizers. Mexican Potato Skins. The picture on the menu and it's description get 5 stars. The actual dish is below a 1. The potato is baked, halved and hollowed out. These potato halves are consistently dry and shriveled when served. They are sprinkled with Hacienda's specially seasoned ground beef, (keep in mind the protein is dry) soggy tomatoes, bits of green onion, diced canned jalapeno and sour cream. Then the dish is sprinkled with yellow cheese (I never could figure out what type of yellow cheese, but it turns to gel on your plate) and the entire dish is microwaved or set under a heat lamp before served. The servers are very good about reminding customers not to touch their plates because, "It's very Hot". You will be disgusted by the presentation and taste of this dish. Hacienda Cheese Dip. eat it quick because it turns to stone in a bowl. And a few hours later, your bowels will feel like you've eaten stones. The best thing about Hacienda is it's location and the atmosphere. And the frozen margarita's from the big machine. Although I've had tequila in a slushy which was about the same thing.

This is the worst tasting Mexican food I have ever had. The salsa tasted like tomato paste.

Edible, but not outstanding. We come for the drinks- I love their mojitos and margaritas on the rocks- and the dessert. Makes a worthwhile craving food stop.

I have nothing positive to say about this place. The food, margaritas and service were all mediocre at best. My advice, go to Del Taco, get something that at least tastes good and save your hard earned cash!

Worst "Midwestern" Mexican I've ever had. Don't waste your time.

The ambience at Hacienda gets a five-star rating. If you are looking for a well-decorated place with a fun dinner (or after hours) atmosphere then look no further. This is a great restaurant in the Elkhart area that has been successful since they've opened. However, it seems that they have recently changed management and definitely need to work out some of the new kinks when dealing with the service provided. The food is mediocre at best but they have amazing drink and food specials every weekday and sometimes on weekends. The draft beer selection is pretty generous and they also carry some bottled local brew. The chips and salsa are really holding this place together. Enjoy all you want when you go, for free! (It might sound weird but make sure to dip some chips in the buttermilk ranch when you go!) It's hard to find a desert anywhere better than the mudslide! *Cinco de Mayo and crazy summer weekends are definitely worth checking out.

An Elkhart staple - kind of like the wal-mart of mexican food. Not authentic but it is consistent, and packed on the weekends. If you like authentic mex cuisine there are much better places to eat - but the newly updated menu does have some tasty feaures. Good cold beers, great margaritas, and usually pretty goood service.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
