I have tried and tried and tried to like this place....seeing that I said tried 3 times means Texas roadhouse has struck out...1st I enjoyed the bread and butter however my green beans and country fried steak with gravy was extremely SALTY! Like high blood pressure salty The second time they couldn't get my steak was chewy and my drinks were watered down. Geesh. But the 3rd time made me say to hell with this place. Now I tried my best to deter my husband not to go here but nooo he wanted to give it a try. He had been warned but said because the lot was packed it couldn't be bad. Yeah ok hubby.. so things were coming along smoothly because we were just eating the bread and butter...lol but when his mash potatoes came there was a big ball of black crap in them...ewww...eeek...so we complained and they offered a free mash and a free meal but after just looking at that our appetites were ruined....now it could have been the bottom of the pot that they scraped and potatoes burned but we were not taking any chances. Needless to say I did say I told you so to my husband...lol Like I said the bread and butter is good but you can get that in jail

Just had a great time at Texas Roadhouse. It reminded me of a simple sports bar. The food was great along with the service the staff friendly and courteous. Some of the best steaks around. I can't wait ti return and try the ribs!

Love, love, love the food here. The fresh baked bread with cinnamon butter is delicious and the Prime Rib is the absolute best. Our server, Billy was awesome. Can't wait to go back!

I couldn't believe how packed this place was at 5pm on a Thursday, bananas! So it is a chain, yes, but we had a great experience! First, noisy enough so that everyone isn't staring at my 2 year old (two thumbs up!). My skinny margarita was delish! The server was super nice. Our food came out quickly. I really like the fried pickles here, slices super duper thin, really yummy! I got the salmon and my husband got ribs, both were great. Sweet potato was really awesome as well. Overall, great experience. Those in booth high chairs are awesome as well! Great idea! Will be back for sure.

Ironic that I was visiting from Texas and the family wants to eat at a Texas themed resturant. I have to say, the steak and ribs are outstanding, snake bites are very good and the homemade bread is in a class of its own. Beer is cold and drinks were great... Above all of this sits a staff that are some of the best I've seen in a long time. Our bartender Chas... was the best. The whole staff was hustling but organized, attentive, and on top of their game.... I recommend getting there when they open. Anytime there is a line waiting for the doors to open, ya know it has to be good.

I like this restaurant because the food is good and the prices are reasonable and I don't have to drive far to go have dinner !!! Sometimes it's just a little to crowded but as long as I can have s good meal I don't mind the crowd !!!!!

The husband and I come here when we want a good meal for a good price. I love that they have a 6oz steak. I can't eat a huge steak, so this is great! The salads are always fresh and love their loaded baked potato. Now to tell you about their ribs. Their ribs are ALWAYS great! They are fall off the bone good. Love them. They have specials during the week that make it even more appealing to go out on a weekday. We will have a server every now and than that doesn't fill our drinks up when we need them to, but that's on the server on the restaurant. The restaurants have good filling food for a good price.

The best part of coming here tonight was walking back outside. Harsh? Not as I see it. The noise pollution inside was just that bad. The sports on bar TV's was almost outcompeting the loud ambient music playing in the rest of the place. Plus there must have been at least 4 freakin birthday shout-outs during our meal. It really made for lousy Texas-sized table conditions. That's a shame because the service was very attentive (although faster paced than I care for) and the food was good. There is a fair amount of salt to everything we ate, but damn, my 16 oz ribeye was perfectly cooked and tastier than any other steak I've had in town. If MSG deserves the credit for that, then I'll be sure to send him a thank you card. The only mistake I made besides thinking we could have some dinner conversation with a few friends, was ordering a martini. When I said Absolute martini "up" she must have thought that meant water it down. What a waste of $5.50. I might come back here again, but certainly not for dinner. Perhaps lunch...and perhaps I'm just getting old.

I like to take my kids here, this is their favorite restaurant. This restaurant takes special care of the kids by organizing different activities. Their steaks are good.

I actually like this place. A bit noisy but its cool You can still care on a convo. Food is pretty good. I like the decor and drinks are pretty good too. Pricing is decent and employees are friendly. Food portions are decent. Place is clean too which is a big plus for me.

Out of the 20+ times I've been to this restaurant they've only gotten my order right maybe 5 or 6 times. The only reason I've ever come back is because when they do get it right it's delicious. I always get the cactus blossom for an appetizer, my fiancee and I love it. I get the Ribeye steak n' shrimp combo with green beans and sweet potato. He always gets the bone-in ribeye with mashed potatoes and steak fries. The man loves his potatoes. Lol Now I'd rate the side dishes and appetizers 4 1/2 stars. We also tried the rattlesnake bites and they were delicious. The main course on the other hand is where is goes bad. These people cannot cook a steak. It is unacceptable to only have a 40% success rate. I always end up sending my steak back because it is overcooked. I always order medium rare and it usually comes out medium/medium well. My fiancee orders rare and it comes out almost blue. They either under or overcook the meat. Usually when I get my second steak it's cooked to my preference and that is why I kept coming back. Now this last time we went my second steak was overcooked again. I didn't want to send back another plate so I just ate some of it and decided we're not going to return to this place since there is another chain steakhouse we enjoy that cooks our steaks perfectly every time.

Absolutely love the food. From the rolls to the hand carved steaks, it's all good. In addition, they have an awesome free appetizer thst goes by the name of peanut. You can toss the shells onto the ground and no feel rude about it. I love the filet and ribeye. Unfortunately, the line to get seated is sometimes so long, so call ahead because the wait is annoying. Once seated, the service is great. Call ahead and check the wait time. Be patient.

I like treating friends out to steak dinners. I've passed by the Texas Roadhouse a number of times on the way to the Outback. One day I decided to take a friend and try out the Roadhouse, since we went to the Outback the week before. The Outback is good. Consistent and good. Never a complaint. But the Roadhouse had a friendlier, humbler atmosphere, the service was slightly better and the steaks seemed bigger, juicier and less expensive. That was three months ago. Tonight I'm taking that same friend out for steak again. Like I said, Outback is fine, but when asked where my friend would like to go? The answer was as expected- the Roadhouse! Great food and great service!

I've always been a fan of Texas Roadhouse and hadn't been in sometime however I ended up coming here twice within a week. They decent margaritas that they have on special Tuesdays for $3.50 and only $5.25 the rest of the week so you can't really beat that. I'm a fan of the food and my daughter and I love the bread ahhhh. Also both visits the servers did a good job.

Our favorite place for a great rib-eye steak dinner at a goos price. We sit at the bar to eat. Great servers and bartenders.

Always a good experience. Delicious food, affordable prices, friendly staff, and I never had to wait very long for a table. This location is very clean and tidy. I would recommend this restaurant for family gatherings of any size!

Food and atmosphere were good. Our service, however, was mediocre. Our waitress came by only to take orders, bring food, and give/take the bill, never to check on us. We wanted to order more things after the bill was brought and our waitress was nowhere to be found. After getting the attention of a different waitress, she rudely told us, "I'm not your server. You need your server," and walked away. Not helpful. Then we flagged down another waitress who found out what we wanted and told our waitress. Our waitress finally came by after 15 minutes of trying to find her in the restaurant. Ridiculous.

This place is great! They have early bird specials, drink specials, great food and large portions. It seems to always be busy. Even during the week, the wait times can be over 1/2 hour. The service is pretty good too.

After reading a yelp review about the MSG I was slightly nervous. I spoke to the kitchen manager who was really helpful and insightful. There are items that have MSG but some they can alter. If you tell them you have a sensitivity they can omit it on the steak. Some salad dressings are msg free but some have it in there. Their Ranch dressing has it in there but so does Hidden Valley. Our server Brittany was really friendly and attentive to our needs. There was a slight mix up with our steaks because I ordered mine rare but got my husbands medium rare. It was an easy switch! I was happy to learn that I can order my steak more rare than I got it this time. I just need to let them know if I just want it seared. Not that I need to eat more than 8oz, but I was told they can hand cut any size we would want. Some people even order 32oz (gut explosion)!!! I really liked my frozen peach margarita that I had instead of dessert. It was flavorful with a nice amount of liquor and it was silky smooth! I really enjoy this place even though I really dislike country music, so I think that says a lot.

We were trying to decide between Outback and Texas Roadhouse and decided on the latter because the Dyer, IN location has always been consistent with the quality of food. I ordered the 10 oz. King Filet and my wife ordered the ribeye. Both were delicious....tender and juicy. Jordan was our server, and very attentive. I've always ordered the cheaper cuts of meat on other visits to this location and am truly glad I finally tried the filet mignon!

should have known better ordering a steak from an establishment like this. had a ribeye steak and it was horrible ordered it medium well and it came as dry as sand!! next time i will stick to the roasted chicken and ribs

Texas Roadhouse is kind of an MSG paradise. Just a warning to those of you with sensitivities to MSG - I get terrible migraines from the stuff. I went here with my husband and his aunt a little while back. When I asked the waiter if their food had MSG in it, he said "Oh no, I don't think so." We asked him to check with the cook and he came back and said "Oh yeah, it's in everything except the baked potato, the sweet potato, and the steamed vegetables." So I had a baked potato, a sweet potato, and steamed vegetables for dinner. MSG is used with low quality meet to trick your brain into thinking it tastes better. I'm probably pretty glad I didn't get the steak then, even if I wasn't sensitive to MSG. Then again, when you see how low their prices are, you should probably be thinking, "How is it that they can make the prices this low?"

Very delicious, attentive waiters and waitresses. Perfect steaks and burgers. My friends had prime rib, me a burger and everyone extremely satisfied. The prices are very reasonable the servings very generous.

  • Daniel D.

Service was nice, the environment had the southern Texas feel, the bar like atmosphere with the hospitality most southern people offer. They also give peanuts to snack on. The warm bread is the bomb!! The prime rib was so good!

Just went there tonight with the family...probably never going back again. Our dinner was pretty straight forward...my wife ordered the sirloin steak medium rare with shrimp dinner. They brought the first steak out well done. We flagged down the server to have this fixed...after 15 minutes they brought out another steak...the second steak they brought out a was still mooing. It's not like the restaurant was even busy...they just couldn't figure out how to cook a steak medium rare...pretty basic...especially when you pride yourself on your steaks and call yourself a steakhouse. When we asked to talk the manager he said he would fix this for us...he just took $6 off the bill for screwing up a $17 dinner and didn't even deliver the check to us himself...he sent the waitress over to deliver it. Our experience was pretty bad...my wife was really angry that she did not get to enjoy her dinner with the rest of us. I would have had hamburger helper at home than to have spent my money there.

First, let me say that I absolutely enjoy the bread, cinnamon butter, and the meal at The Texas Roadhouse. I eat at the Dyer, IN location often and have not had a complaint about the food or service for that matter. I do have one suggestion for the folks who write the script that is introduced by the hostess and then repeated by everyone who passes by the table. It is nice for someone to ask about my last visit. But then, let's just get me to the table. The hostess then goes into another round of questions while she is trying to navigate the crowded space. She ends up walking sideways trying to watch for the people in front of her and still make eye contact with me as she confirms my knowledge about the "fall off the bone ribs and hand cut steaks." Then, after I have already confirmed that I am no rookie to "The Roadhouse," the server asks the same round of questions at my table. Can I just order? I get it Roadhouse. You want to give me all of the necessary information to fully experience the joys of being in an establishment that serves hand cut steaks and fall of the bone ribs, but can the folks just take me to my seat without having to grow an eye on the side of their heads so they can look at me and walk safely? If the server is going to then ask the same set of questions can I just prove my knowledge once? I mean what if I don't know about the hand cut steaks and fall off the bone ribs. Is the hostess really going to give that lesson as we walk to the table? Perhaps a little insert in the menu would provide me with all I need to know.

I used to frequent this location. We always sit at the bar unless there is no room. The manager creeps around asking how everything is - very creepily. Didn't go there for over a year. Went back a couple weeks ago. There were 2 bartenders. They both hounded us a total of 5 times in about 10 minutes to order an appetizer. Like they had a strict quota to meet. I did not appreciate it at all. Either they have a number of sales to reach - or they were that dumb and can't remember asking who what. Then the former bartender (don't know what position she holds now) recognized us and came over to say - haven't seen you in a while. Why not just hey - how's it going??? Was vibing that creepiness. Well....there are many other places to go with much better food. And I always wished they had at least a couple lighter fare options. Oh well...

Several workers were standing around the host stand when we walked in...not paying attention, gabbing about personal things...After being seated, I unwrapped my silverware to find food between my fork tines and lettuce stuck on my knife! Giving the benefit of the doubt, we decided to stay. The rolls were good, as was the honey butter. The salad had seen better days and was browning. Our meal was interrupted every five minutes by wait staff asking how things were and when the last time we had dined with them ...however we were never offered drink refills and no concern was shown when we said things were , "Just OK.". The atmosphere was noisy and disorganized with too many people walking around. The main course was a good temperature. We both had prime rib which had a good flavor though the potatoes were dry. I doubt we will go back and would not put it on my short list if I were making recommendations.

Tasty handcut steaks, sweet butter rolls, and corn-meal breaded catfish with funky mustard sauce. This place is a win. Only drawback: it's LOUD. May science help you if you're unlucky enough to be seated near a birthday person, because those waitresses come equipped with lung capacity.

  • Linda T.

This place was not my cup of tea. It was extremely loud, for one thing. I'm not a big steak eater, so I ordered the fried catfish. The menu says "lightly breaded", but the cornmeal breading was overpowering. The sauce that is served with it would be good if it weren't so salty. In fact, the main thing I tasted was salt, including the steak fries. My friends all had steaks and only one of them was cooked as requested. It took a while to get the server's attention to take one of the steaks back to be re-fired. The servers all seemed to be chatting instead of keeping an eye on their tables. When we finally got her eye, she took her time getting to us, stopping at another table first. Then, when the checks came, the wrong person got a courtesy discount - so that had to be corrected, too. Additionaly, after learning that they add MSG to the meat, I won't be making a return trip. Inexpensive steaks? You get what you pay for.

I love this place! Normally I go for a meal on half-price margarita night (Tuesdays). I have never had a food item from here that I did not enjoy. I even came here on my last birthday! Service is always impeccable, and the margaritas are delicious.

Amaze fest! One of my favorite restaurants. Cheese fries and steak are awesome. This location is unfortunately super busy though.

This our favorite local steakhouse. It bumped Kelsey's down a notch or two. The pricing is very reasonable, service is fast and pleasant, and the food is very tasty. I recommend the ribeye. BIG TIP - Call ahead and reserve a table at busy times. You'll walk in and be seated within 5 minutes. It spares the wait, eating peanuts out of a barrel. Oh, and you don't have to like country music to appreciate this place. Hope your dining experience is great.

  • G G.

We typically went here because we liked the food and they had a Monday discount for kids (and we have a bunch). They've since eliminated that Monday special but we still go because we like the food and the kids enjoy the atmosphere. What kid doesn't like being loud and talking to a giant armadillo named Andy? Hell I still like doing that sometimes. It's a "country" theme so if quiet boring elevator music style dinners are what you want, this is definitely not for you. I like the filet and the kids like the chicken and baked potatoes and loaded heart attack ready cheesy fries. They are good but that means you shouldn't eat it. If you let the server know about a birthday in your group, they'll bring a saddle out and have the birthday recipient sit on it and tell the whole restaurant about it with a big "YEHAAWWW!!" Yeah, hokey I know but the adults get embarrassed and the kids love it. We've always been treated well and sometimes we have a longer wait to be seated but that's because of our very large family. I've read that they have a LOT of MSG added in their food, that's something I'll investigate further. Altogether my only gripe is the elimination of the "Kids eat for .99" and the MSG content.

My boyfriend and I went here for a steak dinner. The sides were great and the margarita was delicious, cheap, and so big I couldn't finish it. As for the steak, I've had way better steaks at Applebee's for half the price. My boyfriend got the prime rib and I got the sirloin. The sirloin was really tough and hard to chew, like a piece of rubber with little flavor - had to drown it in steak sauce. By the time we were done with our meals the fat and gristle left on our plates outweighed the amount of actual steak we ate. I would go back here but would never order a steak again.

    (2)
  • Tom R.

Friendly service, nice atmosphere, but the greatest compliment I can pay is that I ordered my steak medium....and it came out a PERFECT medium and was so good. We will return again when in town

It was my 1st time there and it was really good. The food and service. I'd go back.

Really delicious steak salad. I might get the whole steak next time. The rolls taste like they are doused with sugared butter. Really good with no redeeming nutritional value. Loud, but not as loud as the other reviewers said.

  • Wendy S.

I really enjoy this place. It is typically always crowded, but if you don't mind the noise, it is not bothersome. The service is consistently above average, and the food is good for a chain steakhouse. The complimentary rolls and made-on-site butter are wonderful. Varied menu, chicken, steak, sandwiches, decent kid's menu, and a very good selection of side dishes and appetizers. They do not serve soup, instead they serve chili which is above average for a restaurant chili. There is the Amarillo Roadhouse which is one town over, and closer to my home, however I pass it up for Texas Roadhouse. Might I add, every item on the menu (even the combination platters) are under $20.

I had dinner here the other night with friends. Although busy, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Service was good. Food was good. Parking is not the greatest though.

A nice juicy 8oz steak with steak fries, chili, and delicious rolls for under $11? You can't beat this place for the price. I work right across the street at Jewel and come in here very often. The food is delicious and affordable. I have a bunch of receipts from Jewel that have $3 off coupons on the back for takeout making it even that much more affordable. For the price it's hard to beat. Everything is very good. If you want to eat yourself into a food coma for less than $20 this is the place to do so. The only beef I have with it is that it's not open for lunch hours during the week.

  • Mallorie H.

They had me @ honey cinnamon butter on fresh baked rolls. As a first timer, I didn't really know what to expect. I had driven past too many times to count and the lot was always full, so I decided to give the Texas Roadhouse a try. I was not disappointed in the Dyer location. A few things to note, DON'T GO TO THIS RESTAURANT IF YOU HAVE A PEANUT ALLERGY & DON'T GO TO THIS RESTAURANT IF LOUD COUNTRY MUSIC AND A RAMBUNCTIOUS CROWD IS NOT YOUR CUP 'O TEA... As you can see, I had catfish and a baked sweet potato and chili. They were all delicious. I enjoyed every minute, including the country line dancing. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant and location. It's your usual Texas style grub at a reasonable price, and it actually tastes great. Enjoy!

We have gone to Texas Roadhouse several times, from the salads to the bread and of course the steaks, everything has been excellent. The service is very good, and a great side dish is the CHILLI.

Very good food. When my boyfriend and I went there, we were a little worried because it seemed like it was exactly like Texas Corral, especially with the peanuts, but we were wrong. The food was not very expensive, we got great service even though they were packed, and the food was great. We will definitely be going back!!

Love coming here. Aside from obnoxious, loud cooks in kitchen, this place has never let us down, food wise.
