My review is for my tour, consultation and pricing information my mom and I received to have my wedding shower here. Tour: Place is really run down. It's time they start putting some money back into the place! Parking is a bit of an issue. They provide you with a shuttle service to make it easier. For a fee of course :) Consult: Went well. We went over a lot of food and bev options. No issues with communication on how we wanted things done. A quote was emailed within a reasonable time. Pricing: Would be more reasonable for a wedding reception but not for a 60 person bridal shower. We ended up not going this route.

Meyer's Castle...you are better off going to White Castle. Worst. Easter Brunch. Ever. This was a poorer than poor excuse for a brunch period. Our seating was at 12:30, letting you know this because it's not like we were the last seating and dealing with leftovers. The only thing that was any good was the waffles, cuz that's a hard thing to make. We pretty much just filled up on waffles after tasting everything else. UGH! I don't even know where to start. From the lack of condiments, to the extra chewy beef, dry ham, fishy salmon, get your own coffee at the waiters station, I don't even know what the "bacon" was, dry shriveled sausages, powdered eggs, and hard chewy pasta. Follow it up with some yummy, half thawed eclairs from Sam's club and you can pay $30 a head for it. What a deal! $8 for a mimosa or anything else you would like to drink to help you choke down the poor excuse for food. Never, again. Don't do it. You have been warned. P.S. this "classy" joint even put out craptastic plastic flowers on the table!

My son's wedding Sept. 6th was at this venue, and was not very happy. The venue looks very beautiful, but beware!!! Here are the problems we encountered: 1. The wedding planner Eva told us we could have Pinot Grigio, and Cabernet for the wedding in February when the wedding was booked and I said "no" Chardonnay". Every time they went and paid and discussed the wedding Eva said the wine would be what we wanted. When the day of the wedding came we had Chardonnay and no Pinto Grigio. The bride was also suppose to have two bottles of wine on every table, again did not happen. I complained after the wedding was over and Eva said it was not the policy to serve Pinto at the wedding. OMG you got your money and now you know the policy. 2. They double booked the outside venue where the wedding was taking place. So we sat for hours waiting for our turn. 3. The appetizers were not to be found. There were very few served. 4. The bartender was rude to the guests. 5. The air conditioner did not work and it was a 90 degree day. 6. And the best beware of the steps that should not be allowed for anyone to walk on. They have no railing and are in bad need of repair. People from the wedding fell and one was very hurt. I approached these problems with Eva over a week ago and wanted to talk to a manger over her. Still waiting for that call. Didn't really expect one, because they already have your money. Hope no one else gets hurt, or disappointed. I will say the vendor list that was given and the people that we used were very good. Can't say enough about the Staybridge Suites, and the music from Stringsounds. Our families made the best of the situation, and my son is very happy with his lovely wife. Good Luck if you book this venue.

Gorgeous venue nestled in an enchanting wooded forest. Unfortunately, that's all this place has going for itself. Attended my niece's christening reception last night and had a blast with all my friends and relatives. Here is my review of the service and food: Food was dry. Thank God for that gravy sauce, which was probably bought at GFS and came straight out of a can. Without it, the chicken would've tasted like a cardboard box. 1 wait staff person per 5 tables. They did not serve water, or at least place a carafe of water on each table so that people can drink. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Based on 2 times. The first time I was here it was for Reggae Night. The clientele cracked me up, my hubby and I were dressed nicely and I overheard a lady looking at us say "I didn't know they let poor people in", this is NWI I died laughing. The drinks were expensive but you were in a cool surrounding. Staff was rude and took forever. The one star is for the look of the venue. The second time was for a wedding. The salad came out and I kid you not... The food came out 20 min later!!! So there was a lot of awkward standing around and drinking. They did NOT have enough servers! I think there were about 300 guests and there were maybe 6 servers. The main dish was chicken and steak which was loaded in garlic. The vegetables were also loaded in garlic so it wasn't that great. I like garlic but seriously? The biggest faux pas for me was that after the dinner an hour went by, and still no cake. Then another hour went by.... No cake. There was this big expensive cake, what is going on? They literally had (no I am not kidding) one guy walking around and giving out cake to the people that were still sitting there. My aunt and I literally went to the kitchen because the guy disappeared for 15 min.... We really wanted the cake and practically had to beg for a piece. Oddly enough I was told by the bride later that they never noticed because they were busy dancing... But there was no left over cake. Hmmm

when my parents told me that they wanted to have thanksgiving at meyers castle i looked it up online and got excited because it sounded like it was a fogo de chao type place, except argentine, and having been to multiple argentine restaurants, i was excited as i was familiar with the cuisine. well, on thanksgiving theres none of the meat going around and instead there was a buffet at the center of the room where the turkey tasted off and boiled, and even the sweet potato casserole was bland. I found out they had someone cutting beef so i got some but it was so tough and dry I couldnt even be bothered to finish it. maybe its "good" when they do the normal all you can eat meat service but I cant fathom that consider how completely terrible the quality of the food for thanksgiving was. I'd rather go to the white castle down the street.

I don't want to go too far into this, but we attempted to have our wedding at Meyer's Castle in Dyer, IN. If you are considering this for a location, please reconsider. They ruined our special day, and I'll never forget it....and they didn't even care. Please feel free to contact me and I can give you an "in-depth" review. It looks like such a great place, but there is SO much we didn't see when we were selecting this for our venue.

I have been coming here for years! What happened to this place!? When the BF told me his work Christmas party was here I went on and on about what a great dinner we would have. Little did I know we wouldn't even get to eat. The staff literally SKIPPED our table at dinner service. When they did come over (I thought to feed us) they picked our plates up and cleaned our table off? I didn't even realize what was happening! At this point the party was just about over so none of us bothered saying anything. We all agreed that we would be hitting up Taco Bell on the way home. I also feel I should mention a wedding was going on at the facilty as well. I noticed people (from our party, trash balls) sneaking into the wedding and dancing/being served drinks. I almost yelled at them myself! Obviously the staff needs to get their act together and protect the wedding business from this kind of thing. Not to mention FEED PEOPLE!

Absolutely Great place! Best place to have weddings. To have your wedding in the real castle - dream of every girl. The banquet halls decorated in refined style and this outside view is really bewitching, i would enjoy it forever. I would love to have my own wedding there and the other cool part there is their club. The music is great, nice atmosphere, attractive dancers and all staff is really friendly. All you need to have a great time you can find in Meyer's castle

I've passed by this castle a number of times and always wanted to go inside. I got the opportunity to go to dinner there last Saturday night. I was disappointed. On the way into the restaurant we were told not to use the stairs and to take the shuttle. We followed the directions going in, but on the way out we went down the stairs. The stairs were in poor shape and missing stones here and there. No wonder they didn't want you to climb them! The advertising leads you to believe you will be able to see the castle and dine inside it. In reality, you are dining on the wrap-around porch and don't get to see the castle at all. I found out that the owners live in the castle which is the reason you don't get to see much of it. They have this great venue, but don't share much of it. How disappointing! We were told that the grounds are beautiful but it was dark and we couldn't see much of anything. Maybe more lights would be beneficial? The night was saved only due to the pleasure of being with my awesome date. We were told that the restaurant was going to be expanded soon. Maybe I would return at that point but not any sooner.

We had our wedding at Meyer's Castle this fall, and there could not have been a more beautiful setting for the event! Our coordinator was endlessly helpful and dedicated to making our day into everything we hoped and dreamed it would be.

I went to Meyers castle with a friend to help her find a venue for her wedding. Granted it's winter so no flowers r in bloom to bring out the beauty of the castle. The room was very small for a 200 person wedding. I would have expected so much more! The prices were a bit ridiculous

First off, the castle and grounds gets 4 stars. The rest, I'll tell ya. For starters, one of our party's order was completely incorrect, not even close, so we sent it back. It was returned in a box, and the owner says they CANNOT take it off the bill, and it MUST be paid for. Who does this? I'll tell ya, Meyer's Castle. That was the first time any of us paid for something we didn't order, anywhere. Never even heard of this before. More orders were wrong too, but I won't bore you with details. Other entrees (steak, pasta, chicken) were pretty good, but below standards. The grounds are amazing! However, they don't light up the library, and your looking at a dark room as the centerpiece. The lovely fireplace was tucked away and not lit. Completely Wasted potential. This place could be awesome with radiant ambiance, and they blow it off. The chocolate cake was good. I don't mind the shuttle up to the castle. The Reggae band on Thursdays was quite good. I think we saw the owner/manager sitting alone ordering people around. Calling him Cheapskate is putting it nicely. The guy could obviously care less. He must be just watching over the place, bean counting for some other high up money guy who doesn't care about the place. Very offended. An all time-low. Plus expensive. UPDATE: 8/19/11 - we still reminisce how bad our service was a year and half later. So I lowered the rating from 2 stars to 1 star.

WEDDING REVIEW - First & foremost: The ONLY reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because of my amazing wedding coordinator, Eva Williams. Before I met Eva, I met with 2 others at Meyer's Castle and almost walked away and never looked back. I couldn't help but feel like what I wanted for my wedding didn't matter - just how much I was going to spend. Eva was different. She listened to what I wanted and knew how to execute. This was especially important as I had to plan my NWI wedding from Arizona (moved for a job after we had already booked the venue). Pros * EVA WILLIAMS - my angel. She worked her @$$ off to make my vision come true from start to finish. She was more than my wedding coordinator, she became like family and I'm so thankful for her. The wedding wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for her. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND her for any event you need planned. * The food was good, love the house salad dressing, and I love that they go through Cakes by Karen. My 1 bite of wedding cake was tasty! We had the steak/chicken combo and the steak was a little dry but everyone else was good. We also had 300 guests so props to the kitchen! * The venue itself is beautiful - there's nothing like it in the area * The staff at my reception were mostly handpicked by Eva and very professional and attentive, although I heard one of the bartenders was giving some of my guests a hard time - I would've given them a hard time too though ;) Cons * Everyone I interacted with except for Eva. * I was so disappointed with my ceremony/reception flowers. My first 2-3 meetings with their in-house florist, Ralph, just left a bad taste in my mouth. Each time I had to repeat what I said the last time and each time he had to change his "notes." I won't get into nitty gritty here, but it wasn't pretty. I definitely overpaid for what little I got the day of. Most of the flowers I specifically asked for by name weren't even present. Disappointing, but not surprising. * No cake was set aside for the head table which resulted in me literally having only 1 bite of my own wedding cake. I didn't have a chance to grab a piece of the table myself and there wasn't any set aside. * Pricy... it's a pretty place but just stay on top of things or the scenery may be all you get for what you pay. * Could barely turn the music up during the reception because of a noise complaint by a neighbor...

Parking and driving is confusing but park at first parking lot to left they shuttle you in need more signs around place can get confusing.

I'm going to start with negatives. Parking and "shuttle service". I want to say that I was here for a wedding and reception, and this was totally out of the control of the hosts. The parking lot is small and not marked very well (i.e. where to park for weddings). The shuttles were nice, but since we didn't know exactly where we were going, we ended up on a shuttle that took us back to the parking lot! Also, the bus didn't have a great transmission, so we all ended up rolling backward on a hill because it wouldn't go into gear. It was really quite entertaining. We also could not reverse... Now, once we arrived at the ceremony and reception it was beautiful. C'mon, a castle in the middle of Indiana? It was a beautiful ceremony and reception. The setting was magnificent. The food was amazing and the staff was courteous and helpful!

I've been here several times for a couple wedding receptions and at the lounge. Each time was a different experience. The wedding party both had nothing but great things to say about the process and planning of each event. The planner accommodated each any every need of our party. The reception was so glamorous. Everything from top to bottom was absolutely gorgeous. Flowers were fresh and cake melted in your mouth. I still crave it!!!!! the staff that served us was friendly and had our drink refilled before we could realize it. The food was delicious and offered a nice variety. I would recommend this place to any friends or family looking for a good quality place to host any event. Although parking wasn't clear and some pathways poorly lit, it was a beautiful elegant experience. I've been to lots of weddings and been part of wedding parties and this was on my top 5 list of places. I've also been to the nightclub inside. Not only is it inside a Castle but brings that downtown club vibe out to the suburbs. Many places try and imitate some of Chicago's hottest nightclubs but Meyer's Castle truly captures the fun, vibrant environment of the club scene. The host was friendly and sat us with a VIP table. They have a wide selection of top shelf drinks. It's so hard to find a bartender that knows what they are doing...the one that severed us knew how to make everything. Nothin worse then going to a bar and ordering a easy drink like a cosmo and getting all juice no vodka.... The staff was very polite and professional. The DJ was better then most chicago dj's I've heard. As many times I've been here and never once have I seen a fight or confrontation. The dance floor is kind of small and low ceilings. Drinks are decently priced. Every time I've been here I've had a blast. You don't have to worry about trashy, immature, skanky, sleazy people bothering you. No bottle rats or trashy hick like a lot of Indiana's bars and so called other nightclubs at Meyer's Castle. Their classy, clean, lively lounge is my top pick lounge in that area. My theory, a lot of people often only post negative experiences of yelp and trip advisor. My advice....if you like a place or have a good experience, consider writing a review. So much negativity in the world, people need to write about the good experiences too.

There are a number of things that this place does...from the nightclub, to the restaurant, to the catering business, this place really does have it all. So the restaurant is 3 stars because the service is terrible, but the food makes up for it; the nightclub is not that bad unles you absolutely loathe Eastern European hangouts that can get a bit creep (4 stars); and the banquet hall is hit or miss with the quality of what you actually get (3 stars). It's worth a try though if you are in NW Indiana.

Great place. Great food and drinks. Also, a unique lounge on the weekends with dance music. Beautiful atmosphere.

I would like to start off saying that the grounds are BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! I had my wedding here June 2012, and I could not have been happier with the scenery (from the colorful peacocks roaming around, to the beautiful canopy that the reception was held in). My coordinator Brenda did a wonderful job making sure that everything went well, and that I was happy :) Now-- I will say that when I did my tasting for the food (they had a different chef back then) and THE FOOD was GREAT then at the tasting. BUT it did not taste like that at the wedding & that's what majority of my guests have complained to me about. Yes, on 1 hand--nobody really expects "wedding food" to taste that good anyway, BUT when you pay $30,000 + for a wedding, the food SHOULD taste great! It's somewhat embarrassing that the food did not taste well at the wedding, but I still give Meyer's a high rating overall because the flowers, ceremony, scenery, DJ, and overall reception was beautiful. We looked around at other venues, and the truth is that we did not see anything as beautiful as Meyer's castle. I just wish they would not have gotten rid of the cook that made the food at the tasting, because he/she was great, and I believe could have saved me the embarrassment of still being told a month later by wedding guests how much they hated the food-but LOVED everything else. Overall, I would recommend them, just don't have high hopes for the food--UNLESS they get rid of the chef that cooked for the weddings in the last week in June 2012 !!

RUN!!! That is the best advise to give anyone looking at this as a "potential" wedding venue. I had an appt to view the venue, they were not well prepared.... Follow up was a joke. Compare it to chasing a 2 year old on speed. The owner called me; she was as apologetic as Madoff has been for his crimes. No sense of accountability or "real" responsibility. The signs to run were all there, I ran, and had a fabulous wedding NOT here!!!! They are not very accomodating to changes in anything (look out for hidden) MUST do's. What a joke.

We had a party of 5 for New Year's for dinner. We had never been here before and decided to try it for an early evening out. Our expectations weren't high because it is in Northwest Indiana and not in Chicago but we were pleasantly surprised. One person in our group had been to both Forgo de charro and Texas de Brazil. Parking is a long way down so they provide shuttle service. Right as we parked a new shuttle came out. The driver was polite and asked if we needed assistance getting on board as we had a very pregnant member in our party. We arrived and were greeted by the hostess and shown to our table. We were a bit cramped at our table and our waiter (who's name is escaping me right now) moved us to a larger space which was nice. We ordered some drinks and our menu options were explained. We decided on the all you can eat meat. Bread, butter, bruchetta and pesto were brought out. We all nibbled on a small piece of bread as we were ready for the main event. The bruchetta was very good and not overly garlicky. We were each served an empanada . A member in our party had never had one before so our server explained what was inside and it was very good. We were also served the traditional Caipirinha which I'm not sure how it compares but our friend said it was pretty comparable to ones he has had before. We were told to go check out the tapas bar. It was two tables in a "L" shape. The items were not labeled and there was not anyone around to ask about what they all were. I took a few things to try including some crab meat that was very good but once again I was trying to save room for the main event. We didn't realize we got a serving of pasta with our meal. The marinara was good, I had the lobster sauce. It wasn't what I was expecting but it was pretty good. I only had a few bites as I didn't want to fill myself up. Our waiter announced that if we were ready, he would send the gauchos with the meat. He gave us a bowl of garlic mashed potatoes that were wonderful and it was unlimited but we didn't even finish it as we were focused on our meat. We had 3 steak choices, new york strip, sirloin and flank steak. We had 2 pork selections- Pork tenderlion and some pork sausages with a spicy flavor to them and of course some chicken-chicken breasts and legs. The gauchos asked us how we liked our meat and brought us selections cooked to order. They were quick with serving and would come by frequently and would even give us more than 1 piece if we asked for more. We also requested the sirloin and new york strip one to keep coming and they did. The poor guy with the vegetables was constantly sent away since we were interested in the meat. We did not make it to dessert but the tray looked amazing. I had a margarita for my dessert and it was delicious. The food and service were very good and for the price it made for a nice dinner out. Our friend said the food was comparable to the other Brazilian steakhouses he has been to but said there are more meat, salad bar and side selections but he was happy with his meal. Beverages were a bit pricey. The water is bottled and is $1.95 per serving which I wasn't thrilled with. Miller Lites were $5 and the house Merlot (which was served in a larger portion that I expected) was $8 per glass. Overall we were happy with our meal and would definitely go back. It made for a wonderful start to our New Year's Eve celebration.

So disappointed. We went here for a family celebration. I called at 4:30 p.m. to make a reservation. When we got there, they said they didn't have a reservation but they would still make room for us. Being a Friday, it was crowded, but mainly with parties and rehearsal dinners. We got seated with a great view. We chose to do the "buffet" style with tapas, pasta, and meats. The table wasn't cleaned properly with stray hairs. I could ignore this fact since I'm a girl and shed all the time. The waitress took our orders for pasta (you have a choice of lobster, marinara, or alfredo). We started with the cold tapas. It is squished into a small corner and very hard when there are large parties of people all trying to get the tapas. Not to mention ... what kind of tapas are those? Not labeled so you don't even know what you are eating??? The empanada was good but we also got bread with basil and mayo dipping sauce. Strange concept but okay I can deal. We didn't want to fill up on appetizers so we waited for our pasta. They forgot mine. I sat there even after the waitress passed by me several times. When I got mine, it was so gross. The pasta was hard and cold, as if there had been an attempt to reheat it. The vegetables seemed as though they had been dipped in water real quick and that was "cooked". Oh and then the cup of Parmesan cheese dumped on top may have helped cover up the nastiness. On to the meats. You get a selection of four meats - two steaks, sausage, and pork. The steaks came out first. They were cold and way to bloody for my taste. Sausage came out with the pork. Much warmer but sooooo salty. Had to use the garlic mashed potatoes (not too bad) to cut the salty taste. They forgot to give us the "grilled veggies" until the end. So called "grilled" since they were onions and red peppers that were burnt to a crisp. Because of the pasta issues the owner gave us dessert on the house. I got cheesecake but it was more mousse like but not bad. Overall, I know this is such a complaint. But I'm so disappointed. For nearly $130 (each person was $35.00 plus we had two glasses of wine) you would think that it would be better. For a castle, they need better quality. Even our previous trip when we went for a Mother's Day brunch the quality was subpar. But everyone raves about their meats so we thought we'd try it. Never again....

I attempted to spend my birthday there, however due to a booking mishap on the end of the staff, they made no effort to rectify their error even though they admittedly expressed that a mistake had been made. After several unreturned phone calls, I had given up on Meyer's Castle. It is unfortunate, because it seemed to be a hidden gem within the community, however, proper customer service is extremely important within the service industry. I did not expect fabulous food, so at least they could have attentive and exceptional service. But they fell flat on both ends. They do not care about their customers or reputation, and worse, they won't even fake it. Just awful!

If you're looking for a romantic, unique place to get married in the Chicagoland area Meyer's Castle is it! Our wedding planner they provided us with was spectacular. Ceremony was beautiful with the peacocks, dinner was classy with filet mignon, and the "club" kept the party going well after the reception was over.

This place was absolutely terrible!!!! We ordered the all you can eat meat package ( which typically means you get food faster, not slower). We had reservations for 7:30 pm, were seated at 8 pm, did not get served any meat until 10:30 pm! People from our party had to leave and take their dinners to go because it was getting so late. I didn't eat much meat at all because at that time I had already filled up on bread. Also, one of the chairs were broken. Nothing was done after multiple requests to take care of the chair and have it changed. Service was absolutely horrendous. We asked one of the waiters a simple question, like "how do they cook the meat?" He answered, "I don't know." In addition 5 of us were so sick the next day, like moderate food poisoning sick! If you want Brazilian steak, it is worth it to make the trip to Chicago. Why wait 3 hours at Myers Castle when you can go to Brazzazz , the best Brazilian steakhouse? I've been to Fogo De Chao , Brazzazz and Myers Castle. Brazzazz has quick service, an extensive pasta bar and awesome service. I'm usually not moved to write reviews online, but this place was so bad, I felt I needed to let people know. Just stay away from this restaurant, or else you'll get sick.

My boyfriend and I went here for our 3 year anniversary. We wanted to try another Brazilian Restaurant because we loved Sabor Do Brasil in Orland so much... but we honestly should have just went back there. The view was nice, but that was about it. Our food was charred and there were less than 8 different selections of meat, most being steak. Our waiter was rude. My boyfriend tried to get change for a $10 to tip the bus boy who brought us to the building. Our waiter, after 10 minutes, came back and said that they had no change. He also asked us if we wanted water and we said yes, only to find out then that it was bottled water and cost $2.75! We were very annoyed and will most likely never go there again. If you want to go to a Brazilian Restaurant, try Sabor Do Brasil, it's worth the extra $10, trust me.
