ZwanzigZ Pizza is in a town more known for its Cummins engines and architecture than food, and I will say that even the building ZwanzigZ occupies is pretty cool-looking. There is more to be impressed by than just their storefront though; ZwanzigZ brews their own beer and soda and are consistently rated as Columbus' best pizza. Their restaurant is very family-friendly, and I think their flights of craft soda are a really neat offering for kids as long as you don't mind them being on a sugar high afterwards. Besides pizza, ZwanzigZ serves appetizers, salads, hoagies, and calzones, and I tried some of their cheese sticks as an appetizer. I enjoyed the cheese sticks, which had a rich cheese blend - maybe parmesan and romano. After the cheese sticks, I then tried their five meat pizza (pepperoni, sausage, beef, ham, and bacon). All of the toppings were good, and the crust at ZwanzigZ is soft and has a buttery glaze. The sauce also stood out as being very flavorful. While it wasn't the best I have ever had; I liked the pizza. Plus, everything else about ZwanzigZ definitely helps it to stand out more than chains and other pizza places in Columbus.

GREAT pizza and beer! The breadsticks are also quite tasty, and the blueberry beer is awesome. We always enjoy the food when we eat here.

My friends and I Visited today for dinner, around 515p, was busy with few open tables and lines at cashier. The pizza was good the beer was favorable. The flavored beer was best. The stout was bitter and I am a stout drinker, the dark stouts are my go to beers and this one I couldn't even finish the sampler. My thoughts....you order, you pay, you wait, and they bring it to you. No frills and often rude with the service, what service you get. When you pay they ask for tip then. I don't recommend it. You do the work that you would tip the server for and if you want more...then repeat...wait at cashier...order... pay... and they eventually bring it to you. Added note...you get your own drinks from the soda fountain, get your own plastic wear and napkins and plates. In regards to the service..myself and my friend order a flight of beer each...He received a place mat explanation of each one. I did not. Someone who worked there came around and collected the few empty glasses we had at the time. I asked if I could also get one of the mat explanations and she said I was lucky I got my flight..The were low on glasses, for some reason everyone was ordering them!!! My recommendation when you go... order all at once. If you know you are drinking 3 beers then order 3 beers.. .If you feel you should tip then do the minimum. ..or wait until your 2nd visit, once you see the system. This is for the pizza dining area I am not sure about the bar area, that was unclear as to where to go. Will go back for the beer and pizza, knowing what the service system is, I will approach my tip differently.

Good pizza ( not as good as Greek's in Muncie but still good ) Prices are reasonable. Inside is a little bit noisy. Food quality very good and quantity is good also.

Stopped in here a few nights prior to my deployment to Afghanistan. What a perfect send off. First off, the pizza was awesome, the selections all sounded so good I told the cashier to just pick something and give it to me...I ended up with a meat lovers style and it was great. I ate two slices and realized I was scarfing it down without any manners. Second off, I sampled every beer they had and Mike, the brewer, was even nice enough to give us a tour and share some of his secrets about brewing. I was lucky enough to even have a sample of the Fastenbier Rauchbier from a private stock. Heaven! I must say every beer had a unique flavor and all were delicious. The blueberry ale and chocolate beer really blew my mind. Flavors that were perfectly caught and served to your taste buds. and this brings me back to the pizza, which was amazing before, but after sampling all the beers, to include some of the higher ABV %s, That pizza became my new best friend. I will be looking forward to having another slice of heaven when I get back to the states! Thanks Mike!

Awesome beer, great pizza, what more could you ask for? I could always hope for less expensive but hey, for the quality, you may have to pay a bit - but its not out of control. For a large pizza, 4 pints and a pricey Beer Sampler, it was about $50 so not horrible. Well worth a visit if you're in the mood for a high quality pint that kicks butt followed by pizza that sticks to the ribs and fills you right up!

Great pizza. I highly recommend! Be prepared to wait for a table if you go during lunch. This place is always packed. Hands down, the best pizza place in, at least, 3 counties!

Pizza is mediocre, I don't drink beer and there isn't many other options. The atmosphere and service are very good.

GREAT BEERS!!! The chocolate was probably the BEST chocolate beer I have ever had. Not a stout at all, but light with fantastic flavor! We tried the lasagna after reading the reviews recommending it, it was definitely a good choice. The only downfall of this place is the staff. They were pretty rude. Definitely not friendly or going out of their way. . . They are the reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars

Great pizza at an very affordable price. Lunch special is a deal that can't be beat!!

Pizza is pretty good but still pales in comparison to good big city pizza like Chicago. The staff were pretty rude when asking certain questions about food prep. I'd go back again if the management and staff were a little more friendly and accommodating.

Really fun place to eat! Love the atmosphere and always enjoy the trip. The highlight is the beer - they have several varieties and most of them are pretty good. The pizza is just okay. Nothing spectacular, but no complaints. The cheesy bread is actually the best food they serve - it is perfect.

Must be an awful place to work. I live in the neighborhood, so I call in a pick-up order now and then or buy a growler of beer on Sunday. The pizza is decent and the beer is good. But I feel like I'm at the soup kitchen from Seinfeld when I go there. It's a rare occurrence when I encounter a pleasant employee. Like I'm an inconvenience to them. If they didn't have beer sales on Sundays, I'd never walk through the doors again.

Walked in late, right before 9pm on a Friday night. The wait was not long at all to place our order at the counter. We got a beer flight and a bacon cheeseburger pizza. The couple we dined with had some cheesy bread and it was good. Pizza came out within 20 minutes and I went back up for an orange soda (brewed there) and then again, for additional beer samplings. The beer was impressive. The honey wheat, chocolate and brown were all really solid. The second samples were cucumber, blueberry and the scotch ale. I really like scotch ales and this one was a little too boozy tasting for me to enjoy as a pint (glad we sampled first). The cucumber and blueberry were both perfect summer beers that I'd highly recommend you try (assuming you like those flavors to begin with). I definitely get why this place is so popular. A fun time!

Maybe the best Pizza I have ever had. The crust and ingredients were superb. You have to try this restaurant.

Zwanzigz was one of my best experiences ever. Everything about this establishment was fantastic. We came here because one of my friends was running a marathon in Columbus, and we had some of Zwanzigz beer at brewfest and were really impressed. I can confidently say we were impressed for good reason. All of their beers were really high quality. They had 4 different barrel aged options, and they have barrels all over the restaurant with more stuff aging. We had a chance to talk with the owner and head brewer a few times, and they even brought us some samples of stuff that wasn't ready yet. It's really worth stopping by for the beer alone, but you don't have to. The pizza is also really good. Big and at a reasonable price, everything was tasty. I would really recommend coming down here and spending a few hours in the bar in the back. You'll be full and happy and make some new friends.

I have had better salads at Wendy's & the dressing was Kraft packets. :-/ The pizza crust was floppy except for the edges which were good. We got the BBQ with chicken pizza & didn't care for the BBQ sauce & the chicken tasted highly processed. The cheese pizza wasn't as good as dominos. The service was the most unfriendly service I have experienced in Indiana. I won't be back.

Very dissapointing had to order everything at a counter if you want another beer you go back to counter pay again . get your own plates napkins etc. get your own pizza box food was adequate pricey. Very loud atmosphere I could not hear from across the table

This place is overrated. Hearing about this place and reading the reviews, because I was down near Columbus I had to see what the hype was all about. With great expectations came great dissapointment. My friend wanted to get a pitcher of the chocolate beer...however I am glad I sampled it beforehand because it was too sweet for my taste. I asked the girl behind the counter something similar to Sam Adams and she suggested I try the Brown Ale instead. It was ok but not anything to write home about. The counter person gives you a number and brings you the beverage and doesnt hand it to you then. Odd if you ask me but ok whatever. But, their service was not the friendliest at all! I guess Im used to all the prideful rude people that live in Central Indiana. Anywhoo..it was time to eat and I got the Italian sandwich and we split a Lasagna pizza upon recomendation. The sub to my surprise was actually good, however it could use hotsauce or a pizza sauce for dipping. But upon asking for it got a rude reponse from the counter service. Thanks! Now being from Chicago I am bias to our pies...but am always willing to try others out and see what the rave is about. The lasagna pizza was tasty comparable to the $0.99 Tony's pizza from your Dollar Tree. Yeah I do like those but not when your paying $10 for a 10 inch! I liked the crust however my friend did not. So if your planning on visiting save a visit its not worth the trip. And dont come after 5 on a Friday because its the only thing going on in town. Good Luck trying to find a seat with no hostess to seat you. Don't believe the hype people..this place is OVERRATED! One last expererience I had is how the staff seemed to want to push out and hurry you out the door. Needless to say I wont recommend this place or be coming back. And a last comment what does the restaurant name ZwanzigZ mean??? I took 3 years off German in HS and zwanzig means 20..just saying

ZwanzigZ Brewery and Pizza pub in Columbus is an absolute must stop if either passing through or for a short day trip from Indy. I recently had these guys at the Indiana Microbrew Festival and they were hands down my favorite brewery and I am a passionate fan of the local brew so I decided to pay a visit. The location is on the corner, in what appears to be an old neighborhood. As the saying goes, "The fastest way to revive a neighborhood is a neighborhood brewery." Anyways, the old man and I drove down to grab some flights and some Za brah. Tied the dog up outside and was immediately drawn to the place after entry. It's not a a typical warehouse startup brewery but actually a restaurant with a brewery addition. Plenty of seating, has a great brewpub vibe. The beer is absolutely top notch. Personal favorites were the imperial stout and The Ticket Chocolate Beer (Smells/tastes exactly like chocolate) but no no my friends this is not a dark beer, it is a beautiful golden ale. We did a flight of a majority of beers and the other notables were the Pale, Hemp & Scotch ales. As we put in our order for pizza the owner invited us back to check out the brewing setup and bottling line. Like I said, this place is excellent. The pizza was fantastic and the owner, brewmaster and crew were extremely hospitable. I can't wait to head back. A must try if you can. Note: Due to county law you cannot bring your own growler (unless it is a ZwanzigZ) and have it filled. You must purchase one of their growlers to leave the establishment. Posted a picture of the trip on Instagram @drinkingcraft. Cheers!

We first discovered their craft brew at a beer festival in Indianapolis and they served easily one of our most favored beers at the event. They make good use of bourbon and rye barrels and one beer utilized ghost peppers in the fermentation process. Then we came to find out that they had a pizzeria in their brewery in Columbus, Indiana... yes please! We sat in the bar with a group of friends after the Mill Creek Marathon and its designed so that you am easily talk with everyone while seated there. The two main brewers came out to chat with us, played some impromptu beer trivia for prizes, and let us try some brews that they hadn't yet released. The pizza and cheese bread left us satisfied and anticipating a future visit. We left with a Growler of Scotch Ale to enjoy back in Indianapolis for a very reasonable price. Check this place out while in Columbus; you won't be disappointed. (Also take time to notice the tap handles designed by one of the brewmaster's wives- very unique and creative).

Great place. The atmosphere is just right for any occasion and the beer is diverse and well crafted. We had pizza and a hoagie and both were delicious.

Stroll up to the counter (or wait in line, if it's high noon), place your order, fill your drink, find a table, and wait for your nummies. Mostly indoor seating with a few outdoor tables too. The building is kind of in a residential area, but not too far off the main road. The pizza here is REALLY good. The bread sticks are fantastic...soft, buttery, garlic-y goodness. For around $5 at lunch time you get an entree, sticks, and drink. You'll generally have your choice of several huge slices, a personal pan pizza, or a salad or sandwich. You cannot sub toppings or have them taken off: no exceptions! Even with the personal pizza. I can understand why though. Screwed up "lunch specials" would make people wait a LOT longer for their food. The place was packed when we went (I've been for lunch and dinner) and our wait was only like 5-7 minutes for our food. At dinner it took a little longer, but that's because the calzones take longer. All the food has been really excellent and I would recommend this little pizza parlor. It's surprisingly clean considering the volume they do, and they clean the tables quickly at lunch. Honestly, in terms of food, speed of service, and overall vibe, this is one of the better dining experiences I've had in Columbus. Although the lunch specials are inexpensive, if you get a large pizza and really go nuts with the toppings, you'll approach $25 I think.

One of the best Pizza place in Indiana probably. The best part is Lunch specials, its well worth the price. Bread sticks and Cheese sauce is just great. The service is also very good. They have some good beers :)

The beer is fantastic and so are the pizzas and subs. The brewmaster really knows his stuff and makes a variety for all. If you're an experienced craft beer drinker you won't be disappointed with anything. If you're new to craft beer, start with the chocolate beer. It's light and a gateway to an experience beyond American lagers. The pizza is best right out of the oven. I like the thin crust ultimate cheese with pepperoni.

Zwanzig is my new favorite brewery in Indiana. Thanks to the craft beer movement sweeping the county, that's saying something. We discovered Zwanzig at the Broad Ripple Brew Fest this summer and were instantly sold on their beer. i have to thank my friends Kris and Mack for showing us the brewery's tent, as I never would have found my way to their line had I not been dragged there (too many good options) The beer knocked our socks off and so did the people. They told us about the fact that they also made pizza and we instantly made plans to go down and visit the restaurant. Our first visit was nothing short of amazing. The owner gave us a personalized tour of the brewery operation and we got to try some of their really limited supply brews. The top beers there are the Stout with Ghost Pepper - it hits you in the back of the throat about 3 seconds after you sip it. The next is the Barely wine - I taste multiple flavors on every sip and the flavor changes as it warms. Finally, I also enjoy their Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout - Similar to Dragons Milk's flavor but less sweet. The average ABV is quite high, which is greatly appreciated, but it doesn't kill the flavor profiles of their brews. In additino to the great beer the pizza is also quite good. Finally, I'd like to pay thanks to the owner and service staff. We were treated like royalty and he even gave us some free merchandise for our patronage. I was so impressed by how we were treated we just made the drive down again a couple weeks ago to sample the brews and fare again. Do yourself a favor and make it a point to head down to columbus and check it out. You won't regret it. Zwanzig's itself is worth the hour drive.

Great pizza, but went on a busy Saturday night. No parking, sucky part of town, no place to sit, staff was rude. She said your suppose to tell the lady up front if you sit at the bar you need to go tell her. I said seriously? Your going to make me get back up from this tight squeeze I am in with these chairs? Again staff was just rude.

My favorite place in town. The pizza is great and the beer is perfect. It's kind of a hip pizza place with very nice and friend staff. The bar is small but functional. Try the Italian calzone and nut brown ale beer.

I really want to tell Columbus that I feel sorry for them if this really is one of your best restaurants. I was out taking a nice fall trip and used Yelp to find a place to eat on my way home. ZwanzigZ seem to get great reviews but I should have listened to the few people that warned about this place. I have to agree with the few negative reviews and for the reasons they mention. Before I start the review, I did not drink the beer or soda made on premises. This review is in regards to the food only. First thing I noticed was this place is really expensive. All 14 to 18 inch pizzas are going to be over $11 (cheapest with just cheap bag cheese) to $26.50 (18 inch Best in Town Ultimate Pizza). Average price for a 14 inch two toppings about $15, 16 inch about $16.50 and an 18 inch about $17. Now, I don't mind spending money if the food is outstanding but at this place the pizza was below average. I purchased the 14 inch Best in Town Ultimate pizza ($18.49) and based on the quality of the pizza, I wouldn't pay $7.99 to eat that horrible pizza again. second the service is similar to a fast food place and I will go into detail about the service latter in the review. I sure would not be bragging about this pizza. If this is the "best in town", the city of Columbus should outlaw pizza restaurants and shut them all down. There was one good thing about the pizza and the only good thing was the crust. The crust was made well and most likely is the only thing prepared from scratch on premise. I would give the crust a 4.5 out of 5. This pizza had several types of meats on it. All of them came from a bag with all the nasty preservatives and chemicals used on that garbage. None of the meat was fresh or sourced locally. Most likely comes on a semi once a week. ZwanzigZ, please remove the word fresh from the heading "Fresh Toppings" as this is inaccurate. The sauce was bland. You could barely notice it was there and had little flavor. (Note: on the menu this is called "ZwanzigZ Special Recipe Pizza Sauce" and it did not live up to it's name) I would guess this sauce comes out of a cheap can. Cheese had very little flavor and again most likely cheep cheese out of a bag. As far as the veggies go, the mushrooms, black olives, banana peppers and Jalapenos were from cans or jars. The onions and green peppers may have been fresh and most likely were cut on premises. Other than the dough, I doubt little to anything else is made fresh in house or sourced locally. The other thing that bothered me about the place in relation to the prices charged is the service is similar to fast food restaurants. You stand in line, place your order, get a order number to place on your table. You get your own soft drinks, paper plates, napkins, plastic silverware and take it to your table. You wait for someone to drop off your food and that is the service experience, or to state it plainly, there is no service. If you like processed food with lots of chemicals and preservatives and you enjoy overpaying for low quality food, ZwanzigZ is the place for you. If you value your money and hard work to earn that money, spend it somewhere else. My recommendation is to avoid this restaurant or just go for a few beers and eat someplace that has standards and cares about their food. If you are bored of chain restaurants and think for yourself and are not manipulated by millions of dollars in TV commercials to make yourself believe you have to eat average to below average overpriced food at some chain restaurant, I am one of you. Let's all keep supporting the true food scene in Indiana.

The breadsticks are to kill for. Wonderful Columbus gem and best pizza in town by a long shot. Slightly more expensive but definitely worth it.

Great pizza, fresh ingredients - nice space, with nothing chain-y or generic about the place. The bar / beer is a nice addition. There's nothing hoity-toity about Zwanzigs, just a neighborhood spot to meet for good pizza, calzone, and breadsticks. Two comments: Order-at-the-counter / get your own soda / grab a table & a number for your food to be brought out to you is totally fine for a neighborhood pizza joint - but do they have to roll the industrial-sized garbage can on wheels out every time staff clears an empty table (even when the restaurant is not busy)? Given that serviceware is all styrofoam / plastic (except for things that don't go in the garbage, like the pint glasses and pizza pans), there isn't exactly a lot to clear from tables. It's strange, disruptively noisy and, well, more than a little bit gross. Has happened throughout the fall, though I can't say I remember seeing staff do this over the summer. Second, particularly when it's not busy, more attentive beer service is needed. Don't pour a pint until a server is ready to bring it out, or just let the patron know they can wait in the ordering area for pickup. Letting a pint draft sit for fifteen minutes before bringing it to the table really does nothing for the flavor or temperature, IMHO. That said, this place is a low-key neighborhood favorite for good reason. UPDATE: been back twice since XMAS and the rolling industrial garbage can was not present. Yay!!! Beer service was better, recently, as well, as one of the three pints ordered by folks at my table was still chilled when it arrived (other two were warm & flatish fifteen minutes after order, but hey, that's an improvement, right??)

Please hire some servers! This will increase sales and eliminate the long line of people standing in line.

  • John K.

The place has a good atmosphere. Not going to rate the service since you order at the counter. Two years ago I began, for the most part, ording cheese pizza. Now, I can really taste when a restaurant is starting from quality ingredients. This restaurant's base ingredients are no better than domino's pizza and domino's cost half as much. A good place to get together with friends for a couple of drinks, but not for those looking for a premium pizza.

  • Amanda F.

Beer was awesome! What's even more awesome was that the girl bartender was super excited about the different beers and sodas they offer. The IPA was my favorite and the breadsticks are phenomenal! Pizza was just ok, so next time I'm going to try a calzone. Just didn't have the crisp crust that I like, however, it did taste good and the sauce was great. Just not my style, so don't hold that against them! I'll most certainly be back for a brew and the breadsticks!

Unless you want a specialty pizza, this is just so-so. About on the level of dominos, but way more expensive! The beer, however is consistently good. This place is worth visiting just for the beer! ($6 growler fills on Tues)

I love Zwanzigz. I grew up around Columbus, and I was looking for a place to meet with my high school friends. Columbus was a midpoint and I wanted to try something local, not just a chain. I had some family members tell me about Zwanzigz, so I thought we would give it a try. The pizza is really good. Nice crust and good ingredients. But my favorite thing is the breadsticks. Mmm. They come out on a pizza tray, hot n steamy. They are soft, and a little doughy. The coating of Parmesan cheese is salty and delicious. I always get marinara and cheese sauce for dipping. I swear I could eat the whole order of 8 by myself. The only negative is they don't really have pizza comliments---WINGS. Where are da WINGS? I would definitely recommend Zwanaigz for meeting up with friends and having some awesome pizza.

Let start by saying this is the first five I have ever given. Four is good. Five is extraordinary, and much rarified. Rather unusual. Set in a neighborhood just away from downtown. It gives off the vibe of having been around for quite a while at the same time having a sleek upscale appearance. Very nice inside with a considerable space dedicated to the service area. The comfortable neighborhood feel is nice, as is the cleanliness and order of the place. Parking is easy since they have a big gravel lot on the side. This is pizza so it is not complicated. They have build your own and some pre-designed pies as well. I had the bacon cheeseburger which I needed to be talked into...sans bacon and with a few extra veggies. The pizza arrives to a stand at the table. The salad was provided quickly and was pre-packaged ahead of need. Salad was fresh and good. I'm sure that they had all the soft drinks, teas, and such, though I had beer with mine. Small but quality selection in my mind. Two Hearts IPA washed it all down with perfection. The pizza, yes, lets not forget that. EXCELLENT. I've had Chicago, New York, New Haven, and many, many wonderful others and this was definitely among the very best. Crust, flavorful and perfect. Sauce...tasty! Toppings, fresh, generous, and just right. I am hungry just thinking about it now. Zwanzigz came to me recommended by the rental car agent in Indianapolis and he was spot on. I will look forward to going here again when I make it back to Columbus.

Pizza, calzones, breadsticks all excellent. That's to be expected from a restaurant with high ratings. What stands out to me, is the atmosphere and the excellent beer selection. My friends took me here on a visit home for the holidays and I try to make it a point to go back every time I'm home!

What a great place. I read about this place on the blog Hoosier Beer Geek and thought I have to make a trip south from Indy. I have had some great memories in Columbus so thought I would take an afternoon to head down and try it out. It was not a mistake. I went to the visitors center downtown to look into the Columbus Architecture tour and asked about Zwanzigz. The lady there said she had not had their beer, but had heard good things. She did say though that the lasagna pizza was out of this world. I knew then what to get. We followed the Architecture tour map ($3 at the visitors center) for a few hours and stopped in a park to let the boy run loose. 5 o'clock rolled around and we were ready to head over for some pizza. Zwangiz looked very swanky from the outside and upon entering it felt the same way. Thing was that you pick a table, order at the counter, grab your own napkins, plastic plates and utensils, and fill your own soda. Different from the atmosphere but not a bad thing at all. Grab a paper menu from the counter and check out what to get. We, of course, got the lasagna pizza. Added in a coke and an order of breadsticks. I also got a sampler of five 5 ounces pours of their beers ($7). Today the 5 were honey wheat, chocolate beer, black IPA, imperial stout, and nut brown. The 14 inch pizza, 5 pours, coke and 8 breadsticks with cheese came out to just under $30. What a deal! I also noticed that you could get a new growler filled for $13($4 for glass and $9 to fill). Since Scotty's charges $7 for the glass and $14 to fill most days ($12 on 2 special days), I thought this small place had it down. When a mega (local) chain has those prices and the little guy can do this, it makes you want to support them even more. The beer...honey wheat was fine ... nut brown was not really brown, but nutty ... the black IPA was bitter but not real roasty like I like ... the chocolate beer was yellow, fizzy and tasted like nesquik; too weird ... the imperial stout was the shinning jewel (7-8% 60-70IBUs) roasty, bitter, delicious. I should have gotten a growler filled of it. The pizza was great! The crust was soft and pillowy. The sauce was nice. With ricotta, provolone, mozzarella and white cheddar cheeses this thing had some stretch from the pan. Add a little Italian spices and sausage on it and it was perfect Over all our experience was top notch. It was full by the time we left, so we were glad we ate a light lunch and were hungry early. From what I gather the pizza is legendary in town and the beer is a new add on. Glad it was because now I will head back for some more of the Architecture tour and another pie. Plan a trip now! Or don't so the next time I go there is not a 2 hour wait. There will be if many more catch wind of Zwanzigz. 4 1/2 stars is my rating. Taking 1/2 off for some iffy beer. It is new, they will dial it in.

I just recently tried Zwanzig's, and I'm sold. The pizza was fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere is great too. They even have beer and wine! It's a little pricey but nothing outrageous. I will definitely be back. This place is a must if you're visiting Columbus.

I've only eaten here twice. That was enough. The pizza dough was always half raw, the sauce was too thick, and the service was unbearably slow.

Very good food and the beer was great. Try the chocolate beer. It's so good. I will definitely be back.

My wife and I had the most wonderful time, here. We were very impressed with the place and stayed for about 2 1/2 hours. The tables, floor, and restrooms were meticulous and spotless. I've marked the place as being loud, but please don't let that deter you from coming. The restaurant is usually packed, but it's a fun atmosphere. It takes some time to get the food, but it is SO worth the wait. I wouldn't come here, if in a hurry, but that's not what this place is for. It's meant to be an experience of good food, good brew, and good times....and for that Zwanzigz knocks it out of the park. The pizza is more than amply topped, making it so much more of a value. Folks who have complained about the price are missing the bigger picture. I had a beer, my wife had a soda, we shared cheese bread, and a 14" pizza. Our tab was around $30.00 and we still ended up taking half of the pizza home, because it was so incredibly rich and filling. To have a wonderful evening for two, with great ambiance and wonderful staff who went far above and beyond anything we could have asked for, as well as phenomenal food....$30.00 was an incredible value. I can fill (or refill) a growler with beer for only $9.00. That's half a gallon of beer for the same price as a 32 ounce cup at a ballpark. And, if you're not that much of a drinker (like myself), the growler will hold the beer for up to 3 days before it goes flat......again, another example of value. If you bring your growler back on Tuesdays, the refill is only $6.00. I wish I could be part of the Zwanzigz family.....that's how much I loved the place. I was so over-the-top impressed with everything from walking in the door to walking out the door. I cannot wait to come back. It's a 45 minute drive from my home and I plan to put a lot of miles on my car for years to come, just to re-experience this fine restaurant and its staff over and over. Curt and Lisa, Thank You, again, from the Bottom of our hearts!

This place has the best Pizza and Bread-sticks. There isn't the "Fast Food Biz" or "Home Town" generic about it.. The Pizza is Always good and it's always what you order.. I haven't gotten a wrong order yet. Their lunch special is great for the price. I wished this place was in more towns. I would recommend it to everyone!

Lisa & Kurt have done a fantastic job since they bought the place. Originally it was Gilhams out on st rd 11. When they bought it, they moved it in town and renamed it. My husband and I have been going here for years an the food is awesome! The breadsticks are soft and fresh, the cheese dipping sauce you can get is a little spicy for some but I love it. We prefer the super thin crust and they do a fantastic job making the pizza just the way we like. The salads are generous portions and I hear the beer is pretty good too (I don't drink beer). We have watched this place grow and must say 'well done'. Definitely going to miss Zwanzigz when we move away :( I gave 5 stars because everything about this place is top notch. Food, customer service, atmosphere and price. Can't go wrong with Zwanzigz!

A solid 3 almost 4 stars on my family's first visit. We tried this place based on a recommendation of my wife's co-worker, and we weren't disappointed. The place is really big and has quite a few tv's which is nice. But we were kinda thrown off on ordering our food and drinks. If you have never been there before you would wait to be seated which you don't, and you pay every time you order something, no running a tab at this place. I thought $4 a pint was over priced since you eat off styrofoam plates and plastic utensils and you help yourself to refills on soft drinks. Not sure what the overhead is that keeps beer prices so high. If they aren't gonna refill your drinks then they need to offer pitchers for drinks. I found it very inconvenient to have to get up order, pay, an sit back down and have them bring it to you. Thats silly. Why not have place mat menus if you aren't going to provide regular menus instead of making people stand in line and feel silly when they don't know what they want? What about putting beer menus on the actual table? Your products are excellent And the staff is very nice, but this is kind of a weird way to have people order and serve them. It would be easier and people would feel less out of place of you would seat them with menus and hAve servers take orders. The place has plenty of help. I saw atleast 5 different people run the cash register, and we caught some of them staring at patrons. Kinda weird too. But the food And beer are great. Will visit again.

Delicious!!! The pizza tasted like my mom's homemade pizza. I was in Columbus for a wedding and we got the recommendation for this place from the guy at the front desk. The pizza place was tucked in a little neighborhood and it is definitely a local favorite. The actual food was really good. The bread sticks were soft yet had a nice crusty texture on the outside. They came with two choices of a dipping sauce (ranch or cheese) but I liked them plain. The vegetable pizza was filled with onions, olives, peppers (green and banana) and tomatoes. It was so good! The crust was just the right texture and crunch and was really good the next day. I was really surprised and pleased. I would go here again!

My husband and I love this place. We are picky about pizza and have two places we love to go. This is our number one in Columbus!!! We love the "Say Cheese" pizza. And We love the breaksticks. And their lunch special is great too. We try to go here as much as we can without gaining too much weight..oh sooo yummy!!!!

We love ZwanzigZ! The pizza is absolutely delicious & they offer loads of options. Breadsticks are hot, fresh & yummy. Love their beer selection & often head there with our growlers! The staff is definitely in need of understanding how far a friendly smile will get them. They definitely seemed stressed out & unhappy. Like, every single time we go. You go up to the counter to order. No problem with doing that, however you can wait a long time to get your beer. And, if you want another one, you have to go back up to the counter again, and wait on your beer again. Just seems like they would be top notch if they would get some wait staff & talked to their employees about friendly customer service.

This is a great neighborhood restaurant for your pizza fix or to try some delicious craft beer. Sometimes I go just for the beer. Their chocolate beer is like no other. Fill up your growler on Tuesdays for 6 bucks! Or fill it up on Sunday when you run out of beer and can't buy more at the store. Also, they have really great lunch specials for 5 bucks! Another reason why I like this place is the ambiance. Its very cozy and warm feeling, and it has a window wall across the front of the restaurant so you can see out. Plenty of space for a large group too.

This is either a great restaurant or Columbus is wanting for good places to eat. I think both are true actually. Zwanzigz was absolutely packed when I came here for lunch on a weekday. The parking lot was full (there is ample street parking) and people were lined up 10 deep to order from the counter. Seating was an issue, but our large group was able to snag 2 booths next to each other. There were also picnic tables outside available. The line was long, but it moved fast as there were 2 registers going. The daily lunch special was a great deal. Slice of pizza, breadsticks, dipping sauce, and a fountain drink (free refills) for about $7. Pizza was pretty good. It was your typical hand-tossed pie. Sauce was not overly sweet and there were ample toppings. I definitely need to come back and try their full menu and some of their beers (brewed onsite).

Pizza place more than brewery, but both the beer & pizza are pretty good. Quick stop for carryout. Very small "bar" area and actual bar. Serves more as an area to buy a beer as you wait for your table. No real bar back, just taps and chalkboards that describe the beer. Go for dinner and take a growler home, don't go there for the "pub".

  • Christy W.

The beer here was decent but the service was so awful here that even if the calzones we ordered had been good (which they weren't) I would never return. Every employee that we interacted with was rude and seemed averse to doing any work. It took a lot of work on our part to get anyone to take our order. There were a lot of employees working, hardly any patrons, but lots of dirty tables. Everything is served on plastic which seems incredibly wasteful. I'd recommend staying away from this place!

  • Stacy A.

This is the best Pizza in Columbus. However, I would like to see more creativity in the topping combinations. The service can be a little slow, too and unfriendly. One great thing, is they sell the dough for you to take home and make your own pizza which two thumbs up for that!

    (3)
  • Mykala M.

The pizza is good and the lunch special is a great value; however, I cannot overlook the horrible service. There have been multiple occasions in which I have been treated poorly by the staff. The most recent incident occurred when I told a staff member that they were out of plastic forks. She exclaimed, "I know! I'm trying to get them right now! But I'm going to need you to move out of the way!" She proceeded to shoo my friend and I away from the counter. My friend and I were both in shock over how rudely she handled the situation.

Holy chocolate beer. And not a stout/porter? What that means to me is that I can drink many more without filling up. My boyfriend, who is crazy and doesn't like chocolate, paused after taking a sip to emphatically say "so good." Looking for something a bit spicier? The ghost pepper stout is fantastic. Something a but lighter? Go with the foehnstrum pilsner, light, drinkable, but far from boring. Hophead? The triple z ipa is calling your name. Ready to circle back and have a touch of sweetness once again? Go for the blue berry beer. All in all, when it comes to beer, you simply can't go wrong. Go here, get the beer, wash it down with some pizza, finish the meal with some dessert (beer) and you can go home satisfied.

Pizza and micro-brew as good as it gets! Very popular in Columbus for obvious reasons, so time your trip accordingly. You don't recognize their brews? Order a sampler flight.

One of the primary reasons I joined Yelp was to review Zwanzigz. I've been a big fan since the day they opened and then my love for them multiplied when they opened the brewery. I know the owners and lots of other employees. However, I went a month ago and received awful service there. To be fair, everyone has a bad day every so often and maybe I just got the wrong employee on the wrong day. Fast forward to today. Regardless of what the calendar says, today is the first day of spring--mild temps, sunshine, and a general shift in the herd's attitude. Baby momma says she wants to celebrate surviving another awful winter and who am I to argue? They weren't packed, which is very unusual for a fair weather day. This may be an indication that other folks received awful service that same day. Or maybe it wasn't just one bad day but a bad month for service instead... Shell shocked from my last visit, I nervously ordered what I always do. Much to my surprise, I was greeted with a friendly smile and great service! My beer showed up immediately. It was delicious. Our breadsticks next, equally delicious. Then came the pizza, as delicious as the rest of the meal. I love Zwanzigz too much to ever leave for good. It's like staying with an abusive wife--you'll put up with lots of crap if she's hot enough. Or vice versa. Gender equality, etc. That being said, I am so glad things seem to have turned around since my last visit. I look forward to many many more nights like this. Great food, good service, amazing beer. It can't get much better than this. Get you some!

This is the best Pizza Place in Columbus, other places are good but they are the best. The atmosphere is unique in that you have to go up to the counter to order but it is still an interesting experience. If you're in the area definitely check them out!

  • Emily W.

Excellent tasting beer and pizza. I've had the chocolate beer before and was ecstatic that a friend wanted to celebrate her birthday here so I could try it again! On this trip, I had the fantastic chocolate beer but also tried the porter, which was appropriate for the cold temperatures. I also tried the lasagna pizza (top notch!), pepperoni pizza, and cheese sticks. I'm still dreaming about the lasagna pizza three days later. The only reason this didn't get five stars was the service. One of the servers working in our area was clearly not happy to be there and we tried to stay out of her way. Additionally, we brought a growler specifically to fill up on some chocolate beer, but were told that they could not fill up our growler--they could either take it and give us one of theirs, or we'd have to just buy a new one. My husband didn't want to give up his Against the Grain growler, so we just purchased a new one. We'd never heard of this practice. However, we were told by people in our party that they've come with their own growlers and had them filled before.

Excellent pizza place. If you're hungry for pizza and beer: this is your stop. With that said, their servers are typical Indiana folks who could give a crap about you or your money. Go expecting sub-par service, and you won't be disappointed. They do also get extremely busy around lunch time with school kids coming right down the street. Recommend the blueberry beer!

I visited on a Friday during lunch. The place was packed. I hadn't ever been there before, and the woman taking my order could have been a little more friendly explaining how it all works, but I understand that she was under lunch-rush pressure. My boyfriend and I each got a the lunch special, which is: salad OR pizza with breadsticks and a drinks for $5.99. The pizza slice was HUGE. Mine was easily 1/4 of a pizza. I couldn't eat all of it. The breadsticks were phenomenal and freshly baked. I had the sausage pizza. It has something sweet in the crust or the sauce. I'm not sure I'd get it again. I'd welcome a veggie pizza option though! Overall, Zwinzigs is a great stop for an afforable lunch, and the lunch special is a great way to try the place out.

Being an Indy resident, this is a bit off the beaten path for me. Being a beer lover, I had to visit. The layout seems nice and open, as though they are ready to accommodate a full crowd. Pleasant decor with nothing over the top. I would have sat at the bar, but other than a few seats facing the street with minimal airspace, we decided to sit at a table in the dining area. I didn't feel like fogging up the window. The beer was pleasant. This didn't usurp my favorite of breweries, but certainly wasn't on the bottom rung either. I tried 4 of their blends, one of which was bourbon barrel aged. I have a great appreciation for hearty aged brews... This one was solid, but felt like it might have spent a little too long in the barrel. Good, but could have been better IMO. We ordered a half and half; cheeses (5 of them, I forget the name) with BBQ sauce, as well as the other half being Hawaiian. Pizza was good; and I find myself still pondering a few of the other pies. I wish they had service / servers In the dining area. Its sort of a pain to run my debit card for each individual beer / food item / etc. I'll try more of the bourbon aged blends the next time I'm around. Also, my fingers crossed for a bar table; that way my statement doesn't look like I live here:)

I was born in NY and live/work in Chicago. I. Know. Pizza. Not impressed AT ALL! Service is terrible and pizza is mediocre at best. Admittedly better than Pizza Hut, but just barely. Everyone working here is suffering from "big fish, little pond" syndrome.

Pretty random that I ended up here...my family was looking for a place to meet up halfway between Louisville and Indianapolis and decided on Columbus, I browsed Yelp for some ideas and came across Zwanzigz, seemed like the perfect fit - pizza and beer! Business location is a bit odd, but I have a feeling that Columbus is like this, businesses scattered throughout more residential looking areas. It was also dark when we arrived, maybe it would look less odd in the daylight. We saw lots of cars on the streets and no open spots, got worried but then realized they have a back parking lot, hooray! However, that lot was already pretty full on that Friday night. We get in and manage to snag a table that can seat 7, not a lot of open tables, definitely a popular place in Columbus. We start off ordering beer first, duh. The first one I tried was their regular wheat, it was fine but not my favorite...things only improved in the beer area from there... next, we ordered the pizza and got the Lasagna Pizza and the Best In Town Ultimate Pizza. We all agreed both were very good but none of us were all that "wow'd" hence why they lose a star. It seemed like it was missing something... The next beer I tried was their Blueberry, yum! I love blueberry beer and it hit the spot! We also ordered the Chocolate beer, thinking it was like most we have seen...dark beer with a hint of chocolate taste.... NOPE, we were so wrong, it is a lighter beer that tastes EXACTLY LIKE COCOA PEBBLES!!! It is crazy! I thought it was very delicious and my family all loved it too, we may have had more than one pitcher of this...I could see how it would not appeal to everyone because it is pretty darn unique but I wish I lived closer to this place for more of that beer! Everyone should at least give it a try. I also want to note that service was great and prompt with bringing us our multiple beers and pizza and wait for pizza was told to use up front and very reasonable for how busy they were. All in all, I am very glad we chose this place to meet up...now how long can I wait until I drive there just for more beer?

I was in Columbus, IN for the day cycling along the architecture tour. We found this restaurant off the trail. I asked the cashier what their best seller is. She said "they're all good." I ordered the veggie. It wasn't amazing..it wasn't horrible but it wasn't worth $12. The toppings and cheese kept sliding off the crust as if it wasn't cooked fully maybe. There were also too many banana peppers on it, which overpowered the flavor.

Have dined in and carried out several times - it can be quite busy during peak times - so expect a bit of a wait. If carrying out - order one of the craft brews while you wait. Most - if not all - of the custom brews are quite good and fairly priced - and usually served at the correct temperature. Their service is hectic at peak times - order at the counter and your order will be brought to your table - beyond that - it is self service. During peak times budget about 20 - 30 minutes of wait time. It can be quite noisy at times as well. The pizza overall is decent - but not great. Having dined on pizza in Chicago, NY, NJ, this pizza is a bit underwhelming by comparison - but this isn't there - to be fair. The pizza crust is good and tastes of butter and garlic. The sauce is just ok and average at best. The cheese is good - but skimpy at times. Most of the toppings are average to good at best. The pies are a bit over priced for the overall quality delivered. Good - not great. For the prices charged - I have had better.

This place is well worth a visit if you are a pizza lover in Columbus. Was visiting a friend a couple of weeks ago and came here on a Friday night. It's not your typical set up here - you order your beers and food at a counter and take a number and find a seat. There is no real table service other than the folks that bring your food out and bus the tables, but this really isn't an issue at all- just don't come expecting table service! We had the lasagna pizza and it was outstanding. These folks know how to make a pie. Beer was great too - good selection and something for everybody. Salads come in a to-go box and salad dressings are Kraft packets- but overall it's a no-muss-no-fuss kind of place so again not really a big deal. It's not too expensive either (4 of us, 4 beers, large pizza, salad and cheese bread for $48). Atmosphere is fun and lively, great place!

  • Anita M.

The pizza is great, the price is right, the atmosphere is family friendly. There is a bar area for those that want to avoid the family scene. They do some of there own brewing, so it's fun to try the different beers. 4 stars instead of 5 because of service. The service is fine on time, but friendliness is lacking. The person that brought our drinks and then the person that brought our pizza did not say one word nor did we get a smile.

  • S P.

I'm glad I read reviews that explained that you order at the counter and there is no table service, other than when the food runner brings your food to your table. The interior is very nice, and just looks like a place that would have table service. You even have to get your own styrofoam plates, plastic utensils and napkins. We had a pepperoni pizza, which tasted good but was very greasy. Even my young child made several comments on how greasy it was. Not just on top, but when you picked it up off your plate, there was grease left on the plate from the bottom of the pizza. I had a grilled chicken hoagie, which was very good. It had chicken, green peppers, onions, cheese and your choice of sauce - tomato, ranch or BBQ. We didn't try the beer on this first visit. We had self-serve fountain drinks.

My friend and I stopped in here on our way back to Michigan expecting a good experience based on the reviews. First, to their credit, the beer was pretty good (I had the Ghost Pepper Stout - recommended if you like pepper beers). Second, I've had better frozen pizza from a super market. The cheese and toppings fell off altogether in one piece, which would also destroy your mouth from the intense heat. But was it worth it? No - the pies we had were a flavorless experience as they were caked in grease and a huge sensation of saltiness. We had to douse the pies in parmesan and hot pepper flakes to attempt to rectify the situation...failure ensued. To summarize, I'd rather have a "Hot n' Ready" any day over having to eat here again.

Beer is good, food is good. Service is the WORST I have ever experienced. Everyone around us has been getting food so we asked about ours and the lady said "is it for that number?" I said "yes". She replied with "then that's why you haven't gotten them yet". What does that even mean?? Also, the order taker seem to hate her life and she was very rude. I can find good food and beer elsewhere in the future.

Ghost pepper stout is amazing and spicy and the pilsner is hands down the best I've ever had. Tried 4 different beers and all were perfect. The Say Cheese pizza was a delicious and simple cheese pizza. Sit up at the bar and chat with the locals. Make some friends, learn more about beer and have a great time!

I don't even know where to begin with this review. It was an epic journey into beer where pizza met beer...beer met pizza...beer and pizza met us and we met them. That's all I can really say. Our journey here was like an adult field trip. We learned and experienced things I have never experienced in a brewery...we got to know the owners and workers like they were family. They shared stories..we shared stories.. It was a great afternoon of learning and loving beer, pizza, life, and friends.. Thanks Zwanzigz. You made some great memories for me and that I thank you for.

Zwanzigz is the best. The food is very good, obviously made with quality ingredients, Not the budget stuff most places would use. Yes the price is a little higher than the run of the mill commercial joint or national franchise but the quality, the atmosphere, the home made brew is unparalleled. Five start easy for me.

Driving home from Hilton Head Island, stopped in town because all the hotels in Indianapolis were booked because of the final four games and Easter tomorrow. This place was recommended at the hotel. We lucked out. The thin crust pizza is terrific. Place was filled with locals and college kids. Good selection of beers and a limited selection of wine by the glass. A few miles from exit 68 off I-65 in the downtown area. You may need gps to find it. Lots of interesting turn of the century residential and commercial architecture as well. Worth the trip if you're in the area.

This is the best Pizza in Columbus. However, I would like to see more creativity in the topping combinations. The service can be a little slow, too and unfriendly. One great thing, is they sell the dough for you to take home and make your own pizza which two thumbs up for that!

Basically self service. Food is really good, but we were put off by the idea of having to go back to the register whenever we needed more beer!

Pizza and beer where very good. Couple of grumpy employees. We did not get part of our order. They said they would remake the cheese sticks and get it right to us. They never did after 20 minutes.

What a disappointment. We had an underwhelming pizza which we raised concern about. Manager blew us off. Beer may be good but pizza and staff is horrid. If you don't care to provide service , you should not work in the service industry.

A fun time!

Cheers!

Beer is so good! Love the ambience and all the different choices. Chocolate beer mixed with blueberry is awesome!

The pizza is amazing and the beer is very good too. They have beer for the casual beer drinker, but for the real craft beer fan there is plenty to enjoy.

My favorite place in town. The pizza is great and the beer is perfect. It's kind of a hip pizza place with very nice and friend staff. The bar is small but functional. Try the Italian calzone and nut brown ale beer.

Very dissapointing had to order everything at a counter if you want another beer you go back to counter pay again . get your own plates napkins etc. get your own pizza box food was adequate pricey. Very loud atmosphere I could not hear from across the table

Please hire some servers! This will increase sales and eliminate the long line of people standing in line.

Pizza, calzones, breadsticks all excellent. That's to be expected from a restaurant with high ratings. What stands out to me, is the atmosphere and the excellent beer selection. My friends took me here on a visit home for the holidays and I try to make it a point to go back every time I'm home!

Pizza
