The service was very fast and they were very nice. I have no beef with them. Its the food. Maybe just because I lived in CA most my life means I'm going to be harsher about it. This food really didnt have any flavor to it, it was very runny and watered down. It had taco bell meat in the chimichangas....cmon. If you dont care about how good mexican food should be and you just want a fast bite then go for it.

Mexico Viejo has been one of my favorite places to eat for a long time. The food comes out lightning fast and the service is always good. Be aware however that they do sometimes have issues keeping up with the lunch crowd. It's a much better place for dinner as it is less crowded and you'll get a bit more attention. They have really good queso dip for the chips.

Pay with cash or keep your credit card reciepts that show how much you tipped. It's been a problem more than once. Regular Mexican menu, generally good service, and quick for lunch.

I have eaten at Mexico Viejo twice and was disappointed both times and stopped eating there. They recently changed owners and name to Morales. I decided that I would try them again and was very impressed with their food. The first time I went back I ordered a fajita quesadilla it was huge it was big enough for two meals all for under $10. My wife ordered an enchilada Quattro which is four enchiladas and rice for under $10. It was all very excellent. Since then I have been back two more times. I ordered their combo meal which came with the taco enchilada rice and beans all for $7.99. And today I went back and got their lunch buffet for $5.99 they even had guacamole on the lunch buffet. I was very happy with my service and would recommend anyone.

We tried Mexico Viejo last week, after they reopened under new ownership. I was never impressed with the food before they were closed and reopened, but I was impressed this time. The queso dip was some of the best I've had. I couldn't stop eating it. I had the fajita salad with chicken and it was very good. I've never had anything like it. It even had the fajita vegetables in it, which was great. I will definitely be back!

Mexico Viejo is always a great choice, especially for large groups of people. You will have chips and salsa out almost before you sit down, and if you know what you want and order immediately you will have your food within just a few more minutes. It's unbelievable how fast they can get hot food to your table, and the quality is great. The salsa that comes with the meal is good, but we always order the Pico de Gallo in addition to the one that normally comes out. Pico de Gallo is a chunky salsa with tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, cilantro, and salt, and makes a great chip dip as well as a good addition to mix in to the rest of your meal. There are standard Tex Mex choices of fajitas, chimichangas, and quesadillas, which are all good choices.

As a person who grew up with authentic Mexican food this food is pretty bad. The beef burritos are very salty and the chile rellano "tex mix" looks like dog food. I then asked my server for a normal rellano and it was better I will admit but tasted exactly like chicken parm. Even came with tomato sauce on the top.

Mexico Viejo is my favorite mexican place when on that side of town. Lunch is very popular and they have very reasonable prices on lunch specials. Chips and salsa are promptly delivered. Good lunch spot when in a hurry to get in and out during lunch. A plus is that they have a large parking lot being part of a strip mall.

We have been a steady and frequent local customer of Mexico Viejo for many, many years. The best points are the fast and friendly service, good value for the price, and consistent quality. Our family has grown up in Columbus and we have seen other restaurants come and go while this restaurant has remained steady and consistent. The chips and salsa are the first thing you see when you sit down and they are great. The food selection is good. We like the Taco Salad, Burritos, Quesadillas, Tostadas, and Quesa Dip but we have tried almost everything on the menu over the years and nothing has been disappointing. When our grown children come back to Columbus to visit, they always want to visit Mexico Viejo.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
