Really enjoyed our visit there yesterday on a Sunday after church. The view was beautiful. Husband and I got brunch items and I really enjoyed the breakfast burrito, which they fixed as I ordered without peppers or onions. The black beans and cheese with this were delicious. I would have liked a little less eggs and more potatoes in the burrito though but it was delish. Server tried to be accommodating although they were busy. We really enjoyed our first time there with our friends and will definitely come back. The view is what makes it though, but the food was good.

Overrated. Pleasant view but food was mediocre. The fish and chips were bad. The fish tasted soaked in oil, the fries were not fresh. The crab Benedict was satisfactory. The Hollandaise sauce left more to be desired, crab cake was a lot of filler. Definitely won't be back for Saturday Brunch.

This restaurant has very good food, great prices and the service was GREAT! We dropped in on a Saturday night and the staff had a customer oriented attitude - they asked for 5 minutes to pull together tables to seat our group of nine. I highly recommend this restaurant that offered a variety of high quality food that worked for the vegetarian and gluten free members in our group as well as those who prefer burgers and ribs.

Great breakfast, amazing coffee and good food. Our waitress was wonderful and very attentive. The place was clean, good ambience and a wonderful view.

The view was great, loved outdoor seating, wait staff friendly. However....as a mostly veg person, when I order a veg burger wrap without cheese I would prefer NOT to see cheese IN the wrap. I was told that the house made veg burger was made WITH cheese. Really... who makes a veg burger with cheese inside. But, I was with great company and the environment was excellent I was able to ignore the food shortcomings. It was nice having local wine offerings from Oliver, and the cocktails sounded fun. So, if I were to return next time I am in town it would be for drinks only.

Great place to go on a date night or an impromptu lunch with your spouse or significant other. Great Views, decent food and service.

This place is a great spot that is definately worthy of it's name! They have a great patio that overlooks lake Monroe, and food to match. We started off with a bacon bloody Mary, which while interesting failed to excite my tastebuds. My friend ordered fried pickles, which were very good, and unique in the sense they were not as "pickly" as all the other fried pickles I've had. I started my meal with the orange spinach salad with orange vinagrette. This was good, but nothing sensational. My main meal was the Hawaiian burger, which was fantastic! The burger had great flavor, and the pineapple and bacon went very well with the soft pretzel bun. The sweet relish on the and cilantro mayo took the place of my usual ketchup and mustard, and created a symphony of flavor in my mouth. Bottom line is this is an amazing spot for a date, the food is good and atmosphere amazing for Bloomington. It is a little pricey, but worth it imo.

Pretty down to earth place, not too fancy and not too crappy! they had a great selection of drinks. We went on a monday and it was half off martini night, not sure if that is every monday, but maybe. We tried 4 different martinis and all were really good. We got the veggie burger and some sweet tater fries and it was really good. all together we spent 30 some odd bucks. It really isn't too expensive. Oh yeah and the view was great over looking Monroe Lake. If you're thinking of going, go ahead!

After a long day of fishing nothing sounds better than a cold beer and some delicious food. I was so happy that they had Beard of Paradise from Upland Brewery. Upon walking in I was greeted by a very personable host. She was ready to seat me, but I chose to sit at the bar. The bar was pretty full, but I managed to find myself a spot. The bartender was ready to serve me when I sat down. I decided to get an order of fish and chips while I was there and it was delicious. I will definitely be back soon.

I've had two bad experiences there, and they've all been due to the lackluster food. Serious disparity between price and product. I won't be back. Well, maybe I will. But only to drink on the deck, and not without resentment.

Yes, the view was scenic, but the food was awful! I ordered Eggs Benedict from their breakfast menu. The Hollandaise sauce was sticky and had a weird color to it. The worst thing though - the eggs were not poached! They were just fried. So, basically they will serve you two pan fried eggs on top of a muffin, and call it Eggs Benedict. The whole combination was just not edible. I do not recommend this place at all.

Awesome brunch! Wife had caprese scramble, she loved it. The smothered burrito for me was more than I could finish. Great view and atmosphere, be careful though or you'll drive right by it. We're going back tomorrow!

Great outside seating with good views. Cocktail/beer menu is good. Food leaves little to be desired......go for drinks and music.

The view is worth trip down 446 at this small restaurant. I was glad to see somebody open a restaurant here again after a few years. The scenic view brings the total number of places to eat on the length of 446 to three (this counts the cabin lounge and the gas station at the hwy 50 junction). The substantial view burger was served with a pretzel-style bun and the nachos arrived on a big platter. Fish tacos with mango salsa were good, but I like the Trojan Horse's version better. They had eight or so regional microbrews on tap to go with the usual bud light and chardonnay. The inside dining room is pretty tiny, but if the weather is nice you should sit outside anyway. There is a bed and breakfast type lodge next to the restaurant.

This place has so much potential. The view is pretty but VERY distant (god forbid anyone get anywhere near the shore of Lake Monroe), but the place itself is pretty cheap and underwhelming. The food was average -- we had a Margarita pizza that had a rubbery crust which had clearly been frozen for days. The corn fritters with pineapple salsa were GREAT, on the other hand. They had a small yet cute bar with a very decent selection of local brews. The service was perhaps the worst I've ever had, but they claimed to be short staffed that night. The clientele were boisterish and hisckish t-shirt families, but if you sit outside you hardly notice them. AVOID sitting inside -- WAY too loud with good old boys and screaming children. In short, this is a nice place to go once for a drink, but avoid making a habit of it.

We came here for a friend's birthday and it really is a pretty place. Had a lavender cocktail, it was great. Liked the sweet potato fries.

We frequent the Scenic View during all seasons; although we eat here more often when we can sit outside. The outdoor seating is wonderful and it's dog friendly. We like to hike and during the summer we are on the lake, and the Scenic View is very convenient. The food is usually great, but sometimes it is just okay. When they first opened, the pizza was wonderful! Large, very tasty, and the crust was thinner. Over time, the large pizza went downhill, but the smaller pizza was still great. We love the atmosphere, which is why we come so often, but there have definitely been times we have not been all that satisfied with our meals. We will continue to be loyal customers because we love the Scenic View even when the food is so-so.

My wife and I enjoyed our first visit at lunch. The view and service was nice. The food was good. I had a lamb sandwich and fries and my wife had chicken caesar wrap. No lunch specials :-( We'll probably come back in the Fall to enjoy the view for a brunch.

Am so disappointed in this place--I really want to love it but the food and drinks last night were really bad. The place has great potential so I hope the owner and chef read the comments in Yelp and turn the place around. It's a wonderful little restaurant that we keep trying because we want it to succeed, but at least 3/4 of the time I'm sorry that we came. Last night the service was slow and inattentive; that was irritating but bearable because we were there to relax on the patio. But my medium rare Angus burger was so dry that I kept drowning it in ketchup, my nicely crunchy fries were too peppery to eat and my Mojito was so bad I couldn't drink it (and I am NOT a picky drinker). I'm a sucker for the atmosphere, the patio, the view, and the drive, but may have to give up on this place soon.

The view is indeed beautiful. The service not so much. Coffee not brought, cups chipped, silverware dirty, and food without all the ingredients as described on the menu. The manager was called as his elbows were on our table he made excuses for all. Our host who recommended this as brunch was a bit dismayed. Perhaps the management needs to be more on the ball.

My SO and I went back here in March after one of those annoying where-do-you-want to-eat discussions. For Bloomington standards, this place is "Woohoo! As good as it gets!". I had the smoked salmon linguine-$14. and my dining partner sampled the fish tacos-$9, plus we split an appetizer of calamari. I know, I know, "fish in Indiana?, ew!" but regardless the fish was really dang good. We have also patronized this place for the weekend brunch. I had the Peaches with Rum sauce Crepe Du Jour with a mimosa which was amazing. Great bacon too. Prices were very fair for the quality of the food and portion size. Only complaint was that the dining room was FREEZING!

On Sunday nights the pints are 2.50! The food was great. Service was great. It is so awesome to sit outside and stare at the lake. It was like we were on vacation. Peaceful atmosphere and good menu selections. I want to make The View our Sunday hang-out and bring all our friends. Thanks Bower brothers!

We had heard that the restaurant had great food. We were horribly disappointed. The service was mediocre. The food was lacking. I ordered a veggie omelette without onions. It had onions but few mushrooms or tomatoes. It was very greasy. Yech. The toast was bread barely warmed. Husband's meat omelet left him hungry. His comment, "A $9 breakfast should be filling.". The kids ordered a waffle and fruit. They received a1/2 waffle each and a mushy mess of what looked like it might have been fruit at some point. It was inedible. The dining room was freezing. We won't return as Bloomington has a vibrant restaurant scene. I have had more interesting meals at chains.

I've been to this restaurant now two times, first time not so great~second time even worse. My first experience was with a girl friend and I, we were celebrating our 50 years of friendship. As we were driving into the parking lot we noticed a large group, approximately 30 people. They were seated outside and we were seated inside. We could immediately sense the waitress's panic as she was the only one working. We were told it would be a while and we were fine with that. She actually took our order before theirs so the wait wasn't bad at all. My friend and I both ordered the View Burger which is described as a "Seasoned Angus beef with bacon, cheddar & provolone cheese on a pretzel bun. While the presentation looked wonderful, the first bite was extremely disappointing. Not wanting to spoil our lunch I didn't say anything, I then noticed my friend wasn't eating hers. We finally both admitted that something just didn't taste right. We both felt like we were eating sausage, and not good sausage at that. We're not sure if the grill needed to be cleaned or if they mix sausage with the beef for a filler. The waitress was so busy that we didn't complain even though we only ate half of our sandwiches. We paid our bill and left and just chalked it up to bad timing for going to the restaurant. That day it was around 1:00pm on a Thursday. My second experience was this past Saturday. It was my husband's and my 26th wedding anniversary and since it was such a beautiful day I suggested going to The Scenic View for lunch and giving it another chance. We live in Indianapolis so it was a good hours drive, but like I said it was a beautiful day. Upon arriving once again a large group of bikers were just pulling in. The bikers were seated inside and we asked to be seated outside. The inside restaurant was almost full, but only 4 tables outside. We thought to ourselves this is perfect, two servers-one inside and one outside. I might need to mention the time of day was around 2:00pm. We were seated by the male server who we assumed was the inside server since he was just getting ready to wait on the group that had just come in before us and they were seated inside. As we sat outside we were not greeted by the female waitress that was waiting on the other patrons outside. We thought it odd, but we were enjoying the view and looking over the menu. The female waitress kept walking by us and after 15 minutes she finally brought us some water and said the male server would be with us shortly. My response was "You mean you're not waiting on us?" She replied "no." We sat there for another 5 minutes and then another table was sat right next to us and the female server went to them immediately with water and took their order. My husband and I were dumbfounded. I looked at my husband and said "Do you want to leave?" He replied "yes." We got up from our table and walked by the female server and she looked at us and said "Goodbye, have a nice day." Obviously she was in her own little world and it didn't register with her that we hadn't even eaten. I then asked her if I could ask her a question. I said why would you not have waited on us, her response was that the male server said he wanted to. I then proceeded to let her know that he was obviously busy with the patrons inside and not to mention that a couple came in 20 minutes after us and she waited on them immediately. Her only response was "sorry." Both of these experiences have not been good and we definitely won't be back. The only good thing I can say about this is the view is absolutely gorgeous, for that I give it one star. I might add too that I was a waitress for 20 years and I have a very high tolerance for mediocre service. I don't have a tolerance though when one server doesn't notice what is going on around them and lets a patron sit for 20 minutes waiting for another server who was obviously overwhelmed.

We really like coming to this place for brunch. The menu is great for food and drinks. The view of the lake is marginal, but present. Outdoor seating is plentiful and happens to be one of the best reasons to come here. I would really love to give more than one star, but the service is horrible. I have to say that they are accommodating, but this is one of the slowest places to get your drinks. We sat for 30 mins waiting on them. Isn't this the money-maker? I feel like they don't have enough servers. Also, make sure to ask if they have their juicer replaced. They advertise fresh-squeezed, but they don't actually do it anymore. The waitresses really seem confused at fairly simple questions as well. Fix this and we will be back. We will try once more.

This place has always been one of my dad's favorites. I've never been too into the food because of certain ingredients that didn't end up being that good. So for Father's Day I decided to go lighter and get one of their salads and it was delicious! Exactly what I wanted and just the right size. It went perfectly with my peach tea! If not for the food, the view is worth the trip.

Great place to get a view when you want to take a break from campus life. The views are gorgeous and its a few miles from shoreline. Really good wings, and burgers. Enough TVs to get to watch a game.

Monday late lunch- fast and friendly service. Ruben was excellent. Mac and cheese was delicious. Impressed by the quality during a notoriously slow day/time we were there. Next time I'll try a Bloody Mary

Good news: The food is delicious and the craft cocktails are amazing. Bad news: Service & management need improvement. Slow and unknowledgeable. My brother and I walked in on a Saturday evening to find out how long the wait was. The hostess (who also manages as I found out later from a friend) didn't know how long the wait would be. I asked if she could give me a ballpark, so she asked the kitchen, who told her not to sit anyone for 30 minutes. My brother & I, as well as the couple behind us, left. Otherwise, It's a great place if you want to be left alone while you eat to savor the view (it is called Scenic View for a reason), your personal company, the food, and a cocktail.

Lovely spot that I remember from my youth (when it wasn't a lovely spot) and well worth going out of your way to reach. The food was terrific. Very innovative and unusual, not just burgers and fries. Fresh ingredients and wonderful sauces. Good beer and wine list and very nice staff. But, it's the view everyone comes for and when seated outside, everyone has a perfect view, overlooking the lake. Now that I've been again, I'll make the Scenic View the spot to seek out whenever we come to Indiana for our family visit.

Oh Scenic View... I've been many times . As of late, I swear they have no staff. Or they don't know how to staff. Picture this: crazy awesome weather on a Saturday, packed seating for lunch, both inside and out. Two servers and no bartender. The past 3 times I've been, the place has been so understaffed that it takes a whole flippin' afternoon to have lunch. This time we literally ordered the second we sat down because now we know that that's what you have to do to cut off 30-45 minutes of your wait. So disappointing. We knew the servers were slammed, so we wanted to go to the bartender directly to get some cocktails, to find that there wasn't one. The girls were making their own drinks, but badly. The food was good at least. I won't be back though, no one has that much time on their hands. (The time before was a beautiful weekday afternoon lunch, it was so slow I had to leave my friends and take my lunch in a to-go box and eat it at my desk....)

I just love it here! The staff is very friendly and polite. The food is delicious! My favorite is their coffee. The servings are large which is nice for me, because I like to eat a lot and have leftovers later lol. It is perfect for a date! The scenic view has outstanding service and food. Not to mention it's in beautiful location, overlooking the lake! Also the food here can be pretty darn healthy!
